Ben knew that he could definitely get used to this, he wasn’t used to wanting to wake up next to anyone but Jed really was changing everything for him and he knew that he wouldn’t have it any other way now. He still couldn’t believe just how much things had changed since he’d arrived in Mystic Falls, he hadn’t expected to find a home there let alone people he cared about like this but Ben knew just how rare it was. He was so used to keeping everyone at a distance so he could make sure that no one got hurt because of him but this time was different and Ben knew that he had Jed to thank for that. As Jed said that he would be able to learn how to use a phone because old people could, Ben couldn’t help but laugh. “You forget that I’m much older than any of them,” he chuckled. “You’ll probably be the one who contacts me the most but it will be good to have,” he nodded. He had made a few friends at the Salvatore School during his time there but it was Jed that he spent the most time with. Their first time together really was incredible and Ben felt a smile touch his lips as Jed said that he would love to do that again. “So would I,” he admitted. He’d had a couple of one night stands over the last few years but none of them had made him feel the way that Jed did, they hadn’t even come close. Last night was something special and he knew that he definitely wanted a repeat of that. Ben knew that it wouldn’t be as easy to get that kind of privacy at Jed’s house but he knew that they would make it work. Jed had a room at the school and so did Ben so he knew that everything would be fine. “Is that so?” Ben asked, a playful smile touching his lips as he looked over at Jed. “You won’t hear any arguments from me, you always make my heart skip a beat when you talk like that.” No one else had ever had that kind of effect on him but he was so glad that Jed did. As Jed said their second time would be happening very soon if Ben didn’t stop sweet talking him, Ben couldn’t help but laugh. “You’re meant to be convincing me to stop, not encouraging me to keep going,” he chuckled, bringing his hand up and letting it rest gently against Jed’s cheek. Ben knew that he wouldn’t say no to their second time happening right now but he also knew that Jed was right when he said that his family would probably show up soon. Josie had been there when Jed had died last night and Ben didn’t doubt that the rest of Jed’s family would have heard about it too but for whatever reason they had given him some space and the truth was that Ben was grateful to them for that because without it last night wouldn’t have happened. “A selfish part of me is glad they didn’t come looking for you last night,” he admitted gently. Ben hoped that they wouldn’t think that he had ended up taking advantage of Jed because it really had been his decision too and it really had ended up being a perfect night even if it hadn’t started out that way at all. Helping Jed to his feet, Ben felt a smile touch his lips as Jed said he couldn’t say no to him. “That’s lucky for me then,” he grinned. “For what it’s worth I couldn’t say no to you either,” he added with a laugh as they headed into the bathroom and took a shower. Emerging some time later Ben thanked Jed for the towel and dried himself, his hand touching his cheek where Jed had kissed him for a moment before following Jed back into the bedroom. “I’ll give it a try, thanks. If it’s no good we can always stop by my room on our way to see your family,” he nodded as he started pulling on the clothes Jed had grabbed for him. Once he was done he waited patiently for Jed before holding his hand out to him once he was dressed as well. “Are you ready for this?”JED SALTZMAN

– I freed myself from words never said –
Jed let out a chuckle at Ben's words. "I was trying not to make you feel old but I'm pretty sure you just called yourself ancient." His tone gave away that he was amused as a chuckle fell from his lips. "Yeah, we can text and stuff. It'll be fun." He was definitely going to teach Ben everything. It will definitely be good for the nights that they don't meet up.
Ben's words were enough to put a smile on Jed's lips as he listened to him, glad to know that he had the same effect that Ben had over him. Ben always made his heart skip a beat so effortlessly and to know that he did the same to Ben definitely put a smile on his lips. Jed wanted to try and get out of bed so that they could take a shower just in case his parents knock on his door. It would be on the awkward side, that's for sure. But Ben was definitely making it harder for him with his sweet-talking and the way he looked freshly woken up. God, it should be illegal to look this handsome.
"Oh my god, you're unbelievable." Jed breathed out with a chuckle falling from his lips as the temptation to lean forward and kiss Ben nearly consumed him whole but he held back. "Honestly, me too. I'm glad there were no interruptions last night." Jed said with a soft smile forming on his lips, grateful that they didn't get interrupted. That definitely would have ruined the mood. Jed's lips stretched into a grin when he learned that it was pretty much the same way for Ben too. He can't say no to him. It definitely gave a stroke to his ego and that's something he welcomed with open arms.
"Perfect, sounds like a plan." Jed said with a soft smile resting on his lips as he finished getting dressed and once he was done, his attention moved to rest on Ben again. "Uh... Not really, but I gotta do this." Jed said with a brief chuckle following as he reached for Ben's hand, letting their fingers intertwine before Jed finally opened the door of his dorm room and stepped outside. Most students were going to class already and some of them looked at him, murmuring things to themselves as they stared with amazement because they had seen him get burnt but he looked fine. Jed rounded the corner with Ben and came to a stop when his eyes laid on his mom, knowing that his dad wasn't far behind. "Oh boy." Jed mumbled under his breath. His mom looked like she had been crying which made Jed's heart squeeze because he could also tell that she looked tired like she had been awake the entire night. Oh boy, indeed.

As Ben said he was trying not to make him feel old, Ben couldn’t help but laugh. “Don’t worry, I know I’m ancient,” he chuckled. “Luckily my body doesn’t feel half as old as I do sometimes though,” he added with a grin. Ben knew that he was old, he couldn’t deny that, and a lot of the time he had absolutely no idea what Jed and the students at the school were talking about but Jed and the friends he’d made had at least taken it upon themselves to explain terms that he didn’t understand and he really was grateful to them for that. “That sounds good to me,” he admitted. Ben didn’t really know the first thing about texting but it was clear that Jed was excited and that in turn was enough to make Ben want to learn. Ben wasn’t used to anyone affecting him the way Jed did but it wasn’t something that he was scared of any longer, in fact he loved it. Just one look from Jed was enough to make his heart flutter and it had been that way ever since the day they met. He hadn’t expected to find any of this when he’d decided to head to Mystic Falls but he knew now that he wouldn’t have it any other way. “In a good way,” Ben chuckled, knowing that what he’d said was true. It was tempting to stay there and lose himself in Jed again but he knew that he couldn’t do that so instead he helped Jed to his feet so that neither of them would give into that temptation. “Same here,” he admitted as Jed said that he was glad there weren’t any interruptions last night. It seemed a little strange looking back on it now but at the time it had definitely seemed like a good thing and Ben was glad that things had ended up the way they had done. Nodding as Jed said that his suggestion sounded like a plan, Ben was relieved that the clothes Jed had found for him this time were a better fit. They still weren’t perfect but they were good enough and he gave Jed’s hand a gentle squeeze as he said that he wasn’t really ready but he had to do this. “It’s okay, you can do this,” Ben assured him gently. “I’m going to be right here with you.” He wasn’t really sure how Jed’s parents would react to him this time around after what had happened to Jed but he knew that he definitely wasn’t going to let Jed face this alone. “I’m sure they’ll just be relieved to see that you’re alright,” he added as they headed out of the room. This time it was Jed that the other students were talking about as they walked through the halls but Ben gave Jed’s hand another light squeeze, hoping that he was hanging in there. Soon they rounded a corner and Ben’s gaze came to rest on Jed’s parents and his heart ached at how upset they looked. They had both been crying and it was Jed’s dad that looked up first and immediately made his way over so Ben took a half step back to give them some space but still kept Jed’s hand firmly grasped in his. The day before hadn’t seemed like it would be any different to normal, Ric and Jenna had headed home at the end of the school day while Jed and Josie had stayed at the school the same way they sometimes did. They had friends who boarded at the school and the library was a really good one so that in itself wasn’t out of the ordinary. In fact he and Jenna had ended up having an impromptu date night but that was brought to an abrupt end when one of the teachers at the school called to say that there had been an incident and something had happened to Jed. The phone had been on speaker so that Jenna could hear it too and Ric had almost dropped the phone there and then when the voice on the other end had explained how Jed had died but that wasn’t the end of the story, apparently somehow he had been brought back and he had seemed fine but he had then seemingly disappeared with Ben. What was going on Ric had absolutely no idea but he knew that he needed to find out. He and Jenna had both tried to call Jed but each call went straight through to voicemail so in the end Ric had tried Josie. She had confirmed what they had been told but she had assured them that Jed had seemed fine and that it had looked like Ben had brought him back. That was something that Ric hadn’t even known that nephilim were capable of but the truth was that he didn’t really care as long as Jed was alive and as long as he was okay. Josie had said that she was going to stay at the school to try and find a way to break Ben’s curse once and for all and Ric had tried asking her if she was alright but she’d dodged the question. That in itself was enough to worry Ric but the call had ended pretty quickly after that but not before Josie had confirmed that Jed was still in the school somewhere and was probably in the dorm room he used during the full moon. Ric had wanted nothing more than to head to the school and check on Jed but after talking it through with Jenna they’d decided to give him some time rather than risk overwhelming him. He was alright, at least from what they had been told, so that would have to do for now. Needless to say neither of them got any sleep that night and there were lots of tears for both of them but Ric had just about pulled himself together as they’d headed to the school the following morning. Once they were inside and Ric looked up from making sure that Jenna was alright to see Jed and Ben making their way towards them, however, it was a different matter entirely and Ric felt his eyes sting with tears once more. Without even thinking about it he stepped forward and pulled Jed into a tight hug. “We heard what happened to you, we’ve been so worried about you. You’re really okay?” he asked, a few tears spilling over his lashes as he hugged his son. “How is this possible?” he breathed. They’d heard that Jed had died but they didn’t know the details so he hoped that Jed would fill them in. JED SALTZMAN

Jenna had been listening to the phone call because Alaric had put it on speaker and when she heard that Jed had died she almost dropped the glass of wine that she had in her hand, her eyes widening to the size of saucers because she couldn't believe her ears. There was no way... Jenna could feel her heart jump to her throat as she continued listening, disbelief visible on her face as her lips parted and closed multiple times. Jed had died. The fact that he had been brought back to life still didn't make the ache go away and she didn't expect it to magically solve everything. "Oh my god..." Jenna whispered as she felt tears fall from her eyes. Her kid had died and she wasn't there with him. It made her realize just how dangerous Jed's relationship with Ben was, but Jenna would never ask them to break up. It still didn't make her worry any less, though. Jenna's hand moved to grasp Alaric's because she knew that he was feeling the same shock. Jenna bit down on her bottom to hold back the urge to cry because she was relieved that Jed was safe and alive. She wanted to get up from her seat and head back to the school right away but she held back from doing so. They had tried calling Jed multiple times but each time it went straight to voicemail which only made Jenna a lot more concerned about the safety of her son. But Jed wasn't the only kid of hers that she was worried about. Josie had dodged the question when Ric asked her if she was alright. She knew Josie and knew that she was going to bury her nose in the books for hours on end to make sure that this doesn't happen again.
Needless to say, Jenna and Ric didn't get any sleep that day. They held it together as they began making their way to the school and once they were inside the school, Jenna immediately noticed the tense atmosphere. She knew it all too well. Jenna gave Ric a nod of her head when she noticed him looking at her to assure him that she was doing alright. Jenna's eyes moved away from Alaric and they relaxed almost immediately on Jed who seemed alive and well. A sigh of relief left her lips almost immediately as she felt her tears fill her eyes almost right away as she watched Alaric pull Jed into a hug. She approached and wrapped her arms around Jed, too. "You're okay..." Jenna whispered mostly to reassure herself as she held onto him tighter. "Oh, I was so worried." Jenna leaned away from the hug, her eyes relaxing on her son as soon as she pulled away from the hug. Jenna could see the wetness of Ric's cheeks which made her heart tighten because she hated seeing him crying. She gave his arm a gentle squeeze to reassure him.

– I freed myself from words never said –
"Oh, yeah. Your body does not match your age at all." Jed teased with a chuckle falling from his lips. Ben's body was one of those things that could easily drive Jed wild. With his broad shoulders and his chiseled chest. It was like it was carved from marble. Jed desperately wanted to sink back into bed with Ben, he didn't want to get out yet, but he knew that he needed to talk to his parents, he needed to show them that he was okay because he had no doubt that they knew about his death. "Definitely in a good way." Jed agreed with a chuckle falling from his lips not long after. Eventually, they did manage to get out of bed and into the shower and it was definitely what Jed needed and more.
Once they were done getting dressed, Jed knew that there was no use delaying the inevitable. Jed nodded his head at Ben's reassurance. "Thank you." Jed didn't want his family to feel worried about his relationship with Ben and he didn't want them to ask him to cut his ties with Ben because Jed wasn't going to do that. But he also knew that his family knew how much he loved Ben and they wouldn't ask him to do something like that. They knew that love could make you do stupid things sometimes. Honestly, Jed had no regrets whatsoever about putting himself in front of the flames to protect Ben from suffering that cruel fate of getting burnt.
Jed felt his heart leap when he saw the tears in his parents' eyes. He sent them a quick reassuring smile before he instantly wrapped his arm around his dad, letting his other arm hang by his side, Ben's hand still clasped in his own. When Jenna wrapped her arms around him too, he felt tears fill his eyes too because he could feel how much they were worried about his safety. He could feel how much they loved him and it really did mean a lot to Jed. "Mom, c'mon, not you too, please. C'mon, stop crying, or else you'll make me cry too." Jed said with a breathless chuckle falling from his lips not long after. "I'm okay, really." Jed assured his dad.
"Uh, well... Ben and I were talking when this dragon appeared out of nowhere. It was adamant to kill Ben. It almost got him, but I pushed him out of the way and that's all I remember, really. Everything from there is a huge blur to me." Jed wasn't one hundred percent honest because he did feel his skin getting burnt and it was excruciating. Jed thought there was no pain worse than the one he goes through every full moon but he was definitely wrong. "Ben brought me back, though." Jed gave Ben a thankful smile and a squeeze of his hand. "Now can you guys please not cry or I'll start sobbing and none of you will be able to stop me." Jed teased in a light-hearted voice as he took a small step back, his eyes moving from Ric to Jenna, offering them a gentle smile.

The moment the call had come in Ric had known that something was very wrong. The staff who lived at the school never called unless there was an emergency but it had to be said that what they told him wasn't what he had expected at all. The moment he learned that Jed had died he felt sick to his stomach, Ric had always done his best to protect his family and the other kids at the school but Jed had still died and even though he had been brought back, Ric knew that didn't change anything. He had known about Ben's curse from the very beginning, Jed had told him about it when they had been deciding whether he could stay at the school, but Ric had never truly appreciated just how serious it was or how easy it would be for someone else to end up getting hurt. Ben had tried telling them and they had all assured him that they could look after themselves but this was proof that the curse was much more severe than they had thought. As Jenna spoke Ric wrapped his arms around her, needing the comfort just as much as she probably did in that moment. Jed wasn't their blood but he was still their son and Ric knew that it was never going to hurt any less. He was relieved that Jed had been brought back but he still felt guilty about not being there in the first place. There was a part of him that wanted to get Ben as far away from the school and his family as possible, he didn't want anyone else to get hurt because of him, but he had seen the way they looked at each other so he knew that wouldn't do any good. Ric wasn't sure if they had said those words just yet but the way Jed looked at Ben was the way Ric knew he looked at Jenna - they were in love and as much as he wanted their son to be safe he knew that they couldn't ask him to give up the person he had finally trusted to let in like that. Ben wasn't a bad guy either, it was just that damn curse of his and Ric knew that they were going to have to find a way to break it sooner rather than later. That night felt like it was never going to end. Josie had stayed at the school and so had Jed and it had taken everything that Ric had not to go straight there and find the two of them but he and Jenna had agreed that they would go in the morning instead, that they would give them both some space. Whether or not it was the right decision Ric had no idea but it was the one they had made and instead they made their way to the school in the morning. It didn't take them long to find Jed and Ben and a wave of relief washed through Ric as he made his way forward and pulled Jed into a hug. Jed was in one piece but whether he was okay mentally was something that they were going to have to wait and find out. Right now it was just a relief to see him but Ric still needed to know what had happened. "We both were. We've been trying to call you but it just went straight to voicemail," Ric explained. He knew that it wasn't like Jed not to call them back and it had just fuelled their worry even more. As Jenna squeezed his arm, Ric reached for her hand and grasped it firmly in his. "Too late," Ric said, a watery laugh escaping him as Jed told them not to cry and set him off after hearing what had happened. Ric had always known that his family was his weakness but they were also his greatest strength. "Thank you for bringing him back to us," Ric said ignoring the way that his voice broke as he spoke, his eyes settling on Ben properly for the first time. "We're not going to ask you two not to see each other because we have no right to do that and it's clear how much you care about each other but we are going to help you find a way to break this curse. We're not going to let anything like that happen again."JENNA SALTZMAN & JED SALTZMAN

"I'd say that's a good thing, you wouldn't like me if it did," Ben chuckled, knowing that he wouldn't blame Jed for that. In the past when he'd hooked up with guys they had only been interested in his body and it was the same for him with them but with Jed it was completely different. They had a connection that went deeper than anything he'd ever felt before and Ben knew that he wouldn't have it any other way. Right now it was tempting just to stay locked away in Jed's dorm room for the rest of the day but Ben knew that they couldn't do that no matter how much they might want to. Jed's family were sure to be worried sick and suddenly Ben felt a little guilty about distracting Ben the night before but the truth was that he would never regret what happened. They had been taking things slowly but both of them had wanted it and it had only brought them closer together. Ben couldn't help but laugh as Jed agreed that he was unbelievable in a good way and he stole a quick kiss as they headed into the shower. Once they were done and they had gotten dressed, Ben knew that it was time to go and face the music. He really wasn't sure how Jed's family were going to react, they had known about his curse right from the start but he had been keeping what he was doing from them just like he had done from Jed. He wouldn't be surprised if they hadn't realised just how bad the curse was but it had been his way of trying to protect them as much as he could. Ben hated what had happened to Jed but he knew that he wasn't going to let that happen to anyone else again so he honestly hoped that they wouldn't try and stop them from seeing each other. "You don't need to thank me, you're stronger than you know," Ben assured him gently. Jed had proved that the night before, he had pushed him out of the way so that the dragon wouldn't hurt him, and ever since Ben had brought him back he had been taking everything in his stride. Ben had never had anyone do something like that for him before and the truth was that it just made him love Jed that much more. All Ben could do was watch as Jed was reunited with his parents, he thought about letting go of Jed's hand so that he could hug them both properly but he knew that Jed would have let go if he'd wanted to and the truth was that Ben wasn't ready to let go just yet. Seeing how worried the two of them had been about Jed was enough to make Ben's heart ache, Jed had a family that loved him dearly and yet he had still given up his life to protect him. Ben didn't even want to think about the devastation it would have caused Jed's loved ones if he hadn't been able to bring him back and Ben knew in that moment that he wasn't going to let anything like that happen to Jed again. Offering Jed a smile as he turned to look at him, Ben found himself smiling back at Jed in return as he gave Jed's hand a squeeze. "There's no way I was going to lose you," Ben assured him, his eyes full of love for Jed. This was still so new to him, so new to both of them, but there wasn't a doubt in Ben's mind that he loved Jed or that Jed loved him. As Ric thanked him, Ben's expression softened. "It was the least I could do. Jed knew that I would resurrect but he chose to save me anyway, no one else would do that." Anyone else would have just let him die but not Jed and Ben was beyond grateful to him for that. Ben couldn't deny that he was relieved when Ric said that he wasn't going to tell them not to see each other because the truth was that Ben didn't think he would be able to stay away from Jed anyway. "Thank you, that means so much," Ben said sincerely, knowing that it would mean a lot to Jed as well. JENNA SALTZMAN & JED SALTZMAN

“Yeah, honestly, where’s your phone?” Jenna asked with a soft sigh falling form her lips. “It made us worry a lot more because we couldn’t reach you.” Jenna wiped her eyes the best she could but more tears instantly replaced it. "I'm sorry, I just can't help it." Jenna said with a breathless chuckle following when Alaric pretty much had the same reaction. “We were just so worried about you.”
“Seriously, Ben. Thank you for bringing him back.” Jenna said with a gentle smile resting on his lips. She couldn’t imagine her life without Jed in it. He was her son and he meant the world to her. Sure, he wasn’t her son by blood, but he never once felt like he wasn’t her son. When they took him in, he was difficult to reassure and talk to, but Jenna never blamed him for it. She gave him the space needed and let him come to them instead. But that didn’t mean that Jenna still didn’t cook for him, wash his clothes, look after him whenever he’d have nightmares in his bedroom. Jed really did mean a lot to her. “Ric’s right. You two mean a lot to each other and we know what love can do. It can make you do stupid and dangerous things to protect the one that you love. I would have done the exact same thing to protect any of my kids or Alaric. So we get it.” Jenna said with a gentle smile resting on her lips. “But Ric is right. We are going to work as hard as possible to break your curse, Ben. We don’t want this happening ever again. Letting it happen once enough was haunting enough and you have suffered enough, Ben.”

– I freed myself from words never said –
Jed frowned slightly when he came to the realization that he never actually heard his phone ring, not at least once. “That’s weird, I never heard it—” He patted his pocket to check for his phone and upon locating it, he pulled the phone out and soon came to the realization that his phone had been burnt pretty badly, actually. “Oh.” Jed blinked a few times as he stared at his phone which was pretty much useless now. “That, uh, that explains a lot.” Jed let out a breathless chuckle before he offered his parents a sheepish smile. “I’m sorry, I should have checked.” He apologized in a soft voice as he shoved his phone back inside his pocket. “I didn’t mean to make you guys worry about me like that. I’m sorry.”
Jed’s eyes softened as he listened to Ben, his words making his heart flutter. “Yeah, well, there was no way I was gonna let you go through that. Not on my watch.” Jed said with a soft smile resting on his lips. Jed would easily do it over and over again if it meant saving Ben from having to go through the pain of dying and resurrecting over and over again.
His attention drifted to his parents and immediately, his shoulders sagged in relief. “Thank you, guys. That really means a lot to me.” It meant a lot to hear that his parents weren’t going to make him distance himself from Ben. “Okay, so, it looks like we’ve got a curse to break then, huh?” Jed’s lips stretched to form a grin, looking pretty pleased. “Where’s Jo, by the way? Did she make it home safe last night?”

Ric knew that he never wanted them to have another night like that one. He had wanted a family for as long as he could remember and after Isobel left he had felt sure that he was never going to get it but Jenna had given him the chance to have not just the family that he had always wanted but the life he had always wanted as well. He still hunted but now more than anything he used his knowledge of the supernatural to help people and keep them safe. Their family was a little unconventional but it was their family and Ric knew that he wouldn’t have it any other way. Jed had distanced himself from them at first when Ric had brought him home and he couldn’t blame him for that, Jed had been through something terrible and after the abuse he had suffered at the hands of his father it was natural that it would take time for him to open up. They had still done their best to be there for him from a distance though, they had fed and clothed him and they had made sure that he’d had everything that he’d needed. They had also tried to make sure that he knew that they were always going to be there for him and Ric had no regrets about bringing him into their family. It really wouldn’t be fair for them to ask Jed not to see Ben until they had found a way to break the curse, it was clear that Jed loved him and Ric knew that he couldn’t expect him to give that up. Ben was a good guy from what Ric had seen and he knew that it had taken a lot for Jed to open up to someone like that so they were just going to have to find a way to break the curse sooner rather than later. As Jed pulled his phone out of his pocket, Ric’s face went white as a sheet as he realised that it had been burnt. “That dragon really did a number on you, didn’t it?” he breathed, fresh tears stinging his eyes at the realisation. Suddenly he could see it all so vividly in his mind and he quickly shook the thought away. “It’s okay. We’ll get you a new phone, don’t worry. I guess we’d better make sure you’ve got one too, huh Ben?” he said, a shaky laugh escaping him as he looked over at the two of them. At least that way if they weren’t able to get home of Jed then they would be able to get hold of Ben and make sure that Jed was alright. “I’d do the same for any of you,” Ric admitted, wrapping his arm around Jenna’s waist and kissing the top of her head gently. She and the kids meant the world to him and he knew that didn’t want to lose any of them. As Jenna said that Ben had suffered enough, Ric’s expression softened. “Jenna’s right, you have. You don’t deserve any of this Ben and the two of you deserve to have a future together so we’ll do what we can to make that happen,” he nodded. The curse would always be hanging over them otherwise so it was about time he and Jenna got involved and they found a way to break it once and for all. “It looks like we have,” he chuckled before his expression turned to one of concern as Jed asked where Josie was and if she’d made it home safely last night. “No, she didn’t. We were actually hoping that you might have seen her,” he admitted, unable to deny that he was worried that they hadn’t. “She said she was going to hit the books so we should try the library.”JENNA SALTZMAN & JED SALTZMAN

“Neither did I,” Ben admitted a Jed said that he hadn’t heard his phone. Ben would be the first to admit that they had been a little distracted last night but he knew that they would have heard Jed’s phone if it had rung. As it was they hadn’t heard anything and Ben gave Jed’s hand a gentle squeeze as Jed pulled his phone out of his pocket and it became clear what had happened to it. “I’m sorry Jed,” he said gently. He hadn’t even thought about Jed’s phone and he knew that he should have done but it was too late now. It was clear just how worried Jed’s parents had been about him and even though Ben didn’t regret anything that had happened after he’d brought Jed back, he did feel a little guilty about making his parents worry so much. As Ric said that they would get Jed a new phone and suggested that he get one too, Ben nodded. “Definitely, that way if you can’t get hold of Jed you’ll at least be able to get hold of me,” he said, hoping that would help a little. “How about we head into town this afternoon and get them?” he suggested to Jed as he gave his boyfriend’s hand a gentle squeeze, knowing that it would be better to do that sooner rather than later and it would give them the chance to pick up anything else they needed as well. As Jenna thanked him, Ben shook his head. “You don’t need to thank me. I’ve lived in a world without Jed in it for a long time and I don’t want to live in a world like that again any more than you do,” Ben assured her. Jed meant the world to him and even though Ben knew that he was going to have to face losing Jed at some point he was determined to make sure that that wasn’t for a long time. He loved Jed and he knew that he didn’t want to put any of them through losing him. As Jed said that there was no way he was going to let him go through that on his watch, Ben’s expression softened. “I appreciate that more than you’ll ever know,” Ben assured him. No one had ever cared enough to put themselves in danger like that for him but Jed hadn’t hesitated and it made Ben love him that much more. Jed had grown used to dying and resurrecting all the time but that didn’t mean that he was okay with it, nor did it make it hurt any less. Ben really was relieved when Ric and Jenna both said that they weren’t going to ask them to stop seeing each other and he could see that Jed was too. Ben knew that he would have tried to respect their wishes if that was what they’d wanted but he knew that it wouldn’t have been easy. He always seemed to gravitate towards Jed without even realising it and that was something that had never happened to him before but it was something that he knew better than to try and fight. He wasn’t surprised when they both said that they would do the same for their family and he nodded. “I’d do the same for Jed. I love him,” Ben admitted, a smile touching his lips as his gaze came to rest on Jed. He wasn’t afraid to say those words out loud now, he’d said them to Jed last night and Jed had said them back to him so he had no issue with telling Jed’s parents how he felt. As Jenna said that he’d suffered enough and Ric agreed with him, Ben’s expression softened. “You have no idea how grateful I am that you’re willing to help me,” he said sincerely. It really did go to show that they were good people as far as he was concerned and he knew that he would have to find a way to repay their kindness somehow. Nodding as Jed said that they had a curse to break, Ben listened as Ric said that they should start by looking for Josie in the library. “She was there last night, she saw what happened. We’d better make sure she’s alright,” he said gently, knowing that it wouldn’t have been easy for her to see any of that. JENNA SALTZMAN & JED SALTZMAN

– I freed myself from words never said –
Jed heard the sound of Jenna’s gasp when he showed them the way his phone looked before her tears filled with tears again. His attention drifted over to his dad when he heard his words. “No, hey, guys, c’mon.” Jed’s eyes stung with tears but he refused to let them flow down his cheeks. “Please don’t think about it too much. What matters is that I’m right here now, okay? I’m alive.” Jed assured them in a soft voice, his heart aching at the sight of their tears. His attention drifted to look at Ben when he apologized before he offered him a reassuring smile. “It’s okay.” He assured him in a soft voice. His attention moved back to his dad when he told him that they’ll get him a new phone then they pointed that they’buy one for Ben, too. He let out a chuckle at that before he nodded his head. “Yeah, I was actually talking to Ben about that earlier.” Jed said with a quick nod of his head following. “Sure, I’m cool with getting it this afternoon. I know a good place that has a variety of phones.” Jed said with a small smile tugging on his lips. “Yeah, I’m free this afternoon, as well.” Jenna said with a small smile tugging at the corner of her lips, her eyes still focused on Jed because a part of her couldn’t believe that Jed was right there. He was alive and he was okay. It was definitely going to take some time for her brain to process that part. Jed’s lips stretched to form a soft smile as he looked at his mom and dad. He was relieved to hear that his parents wanted to try their hardest to break Ben’s curse because Ben really did deserve to have a future that wasn’t shrouded in death. He deserved to know what it felt like to have a normal life which most people definitely took for granted.
Jenna could see how much Ben loved Jed and it was all the reassurance she needed that Ben wasn’t going to break her kid’s heart. She could tell that they were meant for each other. She could also tell just how much Jed loved Ben. They were perfect for each other and she wasn’t going to heartlessly force them apart. They deserved each other and she was going to stand by them.
“I don’t want to know what the world will feel like without you in it, so I’m definitely going to help them find a way to break that damn curse.” A small frown formed on Jed’s features when his parents made it clear that Josie never made it back home. “No… I haven’t seen her since—” His resurrection. She was there. She had seen him die and then come back to life. His parents didn’t see it and they looked devastated, he can’t imagine what it must have been like for Josie.
“Yeah, she saw me.” Jed gnawed on his inner cheeks before he nodded his head. “Okay, let’s go. Knowing Jo, she’s definitely got a headstart with the whole breaking Ben’s curse plan.” He had no doubt that she’d push herself to the limits to make sure that Jed didn’t die again because of Ben’s curse. He started making his way to the library to see if Josie was still there.

The state of Jed’s phone took them all by surprise and honestly Ben hadn’t even thought about it. He had managed to heal Jed and bring him back but he hadn’t thought about anything that Jed was carrying with him. It seemed silly not to have considered it now but Ben knew that it was already too late. “How are you taking all of this so well?” Ric asked and Ben remembered having a similar reaction himself not too long ago. All three of them were close to tears and Ben wanted so badly to be able to take all of that pain away. He hated that Jed had gone through that but all he could do now was try and make sure that it never happened again. “You are and you’re going to stay that way,” Ben said as he gave Jed’s hand a gentle squeeze, never having been more certain about anything in his life. He had lost people before but he had never known it to hurt the way that it had when Jed had died. Hat grief had unlocked something in Ben that he hadn’t even known existed and he knew that he wasn’t going to let anything like that happen again. Ben found himself smiling back at Jed in return as he said it was okay and Ben nodded. He couldn’t change what had happened now but he could make sure that it never happened again and when it came to Jed’s phone that was something that was easily fixed at least. “Sounds great. We can make an afternoon of it,” Ben nodded before looking over at Jenna in surprise as she said that she was free that afternoon as well and he quickly cleared his throat. “Perfect,” Ben nodded, doing his best to ignore the way that Ric seemed to chuckle at that. Ben knew that it would be a while before what had happened last night really sank in for any of them but he knew that in time they would be fine and he really was grateful to all of them for agreeing to help him break his curse. The fact that they were all so willing to help really did mean the world to Ben and he wanted to have the kind of future with Jed that Ric had mentioned so badly. Ben had never felt like this before and he honestly felt like he’d found his soulmate in Jed. That was something that he had never thought that he would end up finding but now he had he knew that he never wanted to give up what he and Jed had and something told Ben that Jed’s parents saw it too. One thing Ben knew for sure was that he wasn’t going to hurt Jed, he was in it for the long haul no matter what. As Jed said that he didn’t want to know what a world without him felt like, Ben’s expression softened. “You’re not going to find out, don’t you worry. I’m not going anywhere,” Ben assured him. Jed had been fine without him before they’d met but Ben knew that everything was different now. Nothing was ever going to be the same again and Ben knew that he wouldn’t have it any other way. He had already been reminded of what a world without Jed in it was like and he knew that he never wanted to experience that again. “It’s okay, we’ll find her,” Ben nodded, able to see just how worried Jed and his parents were about Josie. “She’ll be alright,” he added, giving Jed’s hand a gentle squeeze as they headed in the direction of the library. – I freed myself from words never said –
"Yup. I don't have plans of saying goodbye to any of you any time soon." Jed was finally happy with his life and now, he was going to hang onto it tighter than before because he didn't want to lose his family or Ben. They both meant the world to him. Jenna quickly began to realize that it wasn't going to be a family outing. It was going to be just Ben and Jed out together. "Actually, you know what? I completely forgot that I have something super important to do. You boys have fun, okay?" Jed chuckled and nodded his head. "Okay, mom. I'll text you guys once I have my new phone." Jed promised with a gentle smile forming on his lips.
"Okay, that's good." Because he didn't want to experience that sort of world without Ben in it. He was definitely relieved about the fact that Ben was immortal. Jed then found himself concerned about Josie's well-being because it was unlike his sister not to come home but after last night, he didn't exactly blame her for staying here at the school because he had a feeling she would be hitting the books by now trying to find a way to break Ben's curse. But there are so many books and so little time in the day to cover all of them alone. "I know we will." Jed said with a gentle smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "I just know my sister. There's a very high possibility that she's hitting the books already, looking tired with a whole army of coffee cups around her. She'll be pushing herself too hard to make sure that this doesn't happen to me again." Jed pressed his lips into a thin line as he began making his way to the library with Ben's hand still clasped in his own. When they entered the library, Jed saw that he was right about it all. But thankfully, Josie wasn't on her own. She had Hope right next to her, looking through the books as well. Hope was the first one to look up because she could hear them even before they made their presence known. From there, Jed talked to Josie for a while, even hugged her and assured her that he was okay. He stayed with her in the library for some time.
As the afternoon approached, it was time for Jed to go out with Ben. His parents gave him the money needed to buy a phone, even an extra for Ben's phone which was sweet of them to do. Jed reached for his plaid shirt to wear over his black short-sleeved shirt. "Are you ready to roll?" Jed asked once he was dressed and ready to go.
