"I won't let you," Ben said, a smile touching his lips as he gave Jed's hand a gentle squeeze. He hadn't known that he was capable of healing Jed let alone bringing him back to life until he'd lost him and Ben was beyond grateful that his powers had chosen that moment to make themselves known. He had suspected that he was only scraping the surface of what he was capable of but the truth was that in all the years he had lived he had never wanted someone to stay with him as badly as he had with Jed. In that moment he would have done anything to bring him back and thankfully he had been able to do just that. Ben hadn't expected Jenna or any of the rest of Jed's family to tag along when they went into town but Ben knew that he wasn't going to say no because he knew how much they meant to Jed. Jenna seemed to quickly realise that it would just be the two of them, though, and Ben shot her a grateful smile as she said she had something important to do and told them to have fun. "We will, thank you," he nodded. As Jed said it was good that he wasn't going anywhere, Ben's smile widened. "You're stuck with me now, I hope you know that," he teased. In the past he had never really had a tough time leaving anyone behind when he moved on because he had known that it was inevitable. There were a few friends he had made along the way that he'd wished he could have stayed in touch with but they hadn't known the truth about what he was, not like Jed did. Now for the first time he had someone who knew the truth and wanted to be with him anyway and he knew that he really would stay with Jed for as long as Jed would let him. Soon enough they were heading in the direction of the library and Ben nodded as Jed said he knew that they would find Josie. Ben liked her and he felt bad that she had seemingly spent the night trying to find a way to break his curse while he and Jed had been caught up doing other things but at least they could help now. "That wouldn't surprise me," he admitted as Jed explained what he was expecting to find when they got there. "I'm sure she'll feel better as soon as she sees you're alright. I hope she doesn't blame herself," he said gently. Ben knew what that was like, he had blamed himself for what had happened to Jed and that had only stopped when Jed had told him that it was his choice. Ben knew that Jed never would have been put in that position if not for him but blaming anyone wasn't going to get them anywhere and Ben had chosen to focus on the fact that Jed was alive and back with them where he belonged and he hoped that Josie would too. All Ben could do was watched as they reached the library and Jed hugged Josie and told her he was alright and he was grateful that Hope had stayed with her. They stayed in the library for a while and Ben helped look through some of the books, answering as many questions as he could to try and give them as much to go on as possible.
Soon the afternoon was upon them and it was time for them to head into town. Jed's parents had given him money for a new phone and they had given him enough for one for Ben as well which was really generous of them. Ben had money of his own but on his way to Mystic Falls he was attacked and his car had gone up in flames with everything he owned inside of it including his wallet and bank card. It wasn't the first time it had happened but without a branch of his bank nearby it meant that sorting out a replacement was difficult so he had been relying on the kindness of the Saltzmans for longer than he would have liked and he knew that he needed to change that as soon as he could. Having stopped by his room so he could change into some of his own clothes which were a much better fit than Jed's had been, Ben nodded as Jed asked if he was ready. "Let's do this," he nodded, holding out his hand to Jed before heading out of the school and into town. The walk into Mystic Falls never took too long and it was a nice day so it was actually a pleasant walk but the thing Ben enjoyed the most was being able to spend that time with Jed. "Is there anything else you want to pick up while we're here?" he asked, not sure if Jed had thought of anything else that he wanted to get other than a new phone to replace the one the dragon had destroyed. "I know you won't. See, guys, you really have nothing to worry about." Jed assured them with a grin resting on his lips not long after. He had no doubt in his mind that Ben was going to protect him. He really didn't feel worried about it. "Oh, trust me, I know." Jed offered back with a chuckle falling from his lips. "But, you know, it's not like I want anything else. I'm content with being stuck with you." Jed added a moment later.
"Yeah, I hope the same, but there's a big chance that she blames herself quite a bit about what happened to me even though I don't think she would have been able to stop me." Jed said with a soft sigh falling from his lips. He hated knowing that he had caused his sister so much pain. He never wanted to do something like that to her. Everything just happened too fast. Jed spent some time in the library with the rest of his family and Ben to look into a way that they could break the curse but it was definitely progressing a bit slow for them and when it was time for them to go, Jed began making his way back to his dorm room so that he could change into new clothes. "Let's go." Jed said with a half-smile resting on his lips as he began making his way out of the school with Ben. The walk into Mystic Falls was pleasant, actually. He enjoyed the weather and how busy the town seemed to be.
For a moment, Jed seemed to consider Ben's question as he glanced around him to see if he could spot anything that he'd want to do before he shrugged his shoulders. "I dunno, actually. I mean, we could grab some coffee." Jed offered. "What about you? Is there anything you wanna pick up while we're in town?"

“You’re going to live a long and happy life, I’ll make sure of it,” Ben nodded. That was all that he wanted for Jed, he wanted him to have the chance to do everything that he wanted to do and live the life that he wanted to. There was so much that Jed had yet to do or see and Ben wanted to be there with him for as much as he could. He didn’t know how he had managed to heal Jed’s body given the state it had been in or how he had brought him back but he knew that he would do everything he could in order to keep Jed around for as long as possible. “Then it looks like I’m a very lucky man,” Ben said, a smile forming on his face as his eyes met Jed’s. Forgetting that Jed’s parents were even there for a moment, Ben brought his free hand up to cup Jed’s cheek before he leaned forward and pressed his lips against Jed’s. Ben already knew how lucky he was, he had simply been existing before Jed came along but now he had a reason to truly want to live and that was all thanks to Jed. “You said it yourself last night, once you make up your mind about something no one will stop you from following through with it. I’m sure she’ll see that eventually,” Ben said gently. He had and he knew that Josie would sooner or later as well but the truth was that he could definitely understand why Jed was so worried about her. Jed had one of the biggest hearts he had ever seen, even after he’d come back he had been worried about the other students getting hurt and now Jed was more worried about his sister than he was about what had happened to him. There weren’t many people who would do that or who would look at life the way that Jed was now and it was incredible to say the least. They spent ages trying to find a way to break the curse but weren’t able to find anything that seemed to work so the truth was that Ben was glad for a break when the time came for the two of them to head into town. It didn’t take them long to get changed and as soon as they were they headed out of the school and into town. “Sure,” Ben nodded as Jed said that they could grab some coffee. As Jed asked if there was anything that he wanted to pick up while they were in town, Ben’s expression turned thoughtful for a moment. “I’m not sure,” he admitted. He had some money on him but not a lot, literally the last of what he’d had on him when Jed and Ric had found him, so his options were limited right now. As they walked down the street, however, Ben’s gaze came to rest on the name on one of the buildings. It wasn’t a place that had been there before and he felt a smile touch his lips. “Do you mind if we head there first?” he asked, nodding to the bank that had just opened up across the street. With Jed’s hand in his Ben headed inside and his eyes widened in surprise as his gaze came to rest on a familiar figure who immediately made his way over with a smile on his face. “It’s so good to see you David, reports of your death have been greatly exaggerated I see,” Ben said, unable to deny that he was relieved that his old friend was still alive and well after all. “As have reports of yours. None of the deaths were permanent at least,” David said playfully which was enough to have Ben roll his eyes in return. “Jed, this is my old friend David. He owns this bank. David, this is my boyfriend Jed,” he said, a smile touching his lips as he saw David’s expression soften. “Co-owner, you still have a share,” he corrected before his gaze came to rest on Jed. “It’s a pleasure to meet you. I was starting to think no one would be able to steal this guy’s heart,” David said sincerely and that was enough to have Ben’s cheeks flushing red. “Jed has definitely managed that,” Ben said, a smile touching his lips as he looked over at Jed. “David, would it be possible to get a new bank card and cheque book? My last ones were destroyed,” he admitted, knowing that he wouldn’t have to explain any more than that given that David had tried to help him break his curse before he became a vampire. “Of course. I’m about to head into a meeting but Sarah here will help you. Sarah, please see to it that Mr Lowell here gets everything that he needs. I’ll see you again soon and it really was nice to meet you Jed,” he said and Ben thanked him before his friend disappeared. Once he had everything he needed he withdrew some cash from his account before they headed back outside. “Sorry about that. I’ve needed to sort out another card since you found me but that bank is a little different. David is a vampire and he runs the bank for supernaturals so there are no questions about age or anything like that but whenever my card is destroyed I have to go into a branch to get a new one and there aren’t many around,” he explained, hoping that he hadn’t made Jed feel awkward. Jed had no doubt that Ben was going to try his hardest to make sure that he keeps that promise. After tonight, he was certain that Ben was going to do everything he could to make sure that a repeat of tonight doesn't happen again. "Oh, you are. Dating someone like me? Oh, man. Pure luck." Jed teased in a light-hearted voice, his grin forming on his lips almost immediately. As much as he hated causing his sister so much pain, he knew that if the clock were to turn back, he'd still make the same decision. He wasn't sure whether that made him selfish or not, but he didn't regret saving Ben. He just wished there was a way to stop Josie from seeing it all. Jed's lips stretched to form a soft smile as he listened to Ben before he nodded his head a few times. "I hope so." Jed spent time with his sister and the rest of his family and Ben in the library as they continued looking through books until it was time for them to leave.
Jed tilted his head in confusion when Ben asked him if they could inside the bank. "Oh, yeah, sure." Jed nodded his head a few times, wondering if Ben was just curious about how the bank looks like from the inside or if he had something in there he wanted to ask about. He didn't expect it in the least when Ben seemed to talk to someone from the bank. Jed watched the interaction with curious and confused eyes. Though he definitely looked pleased to know that Ben had friends and it seems like David knew about Ben's situation as he mentioned reports of Ben's deaths. The man's tone was playful which was enough to put a smile on Jed's lips. He didn't interrupt their conversation and when Ben introduced him to David, his smile became a lot more prominent. "Oh, the pleasure is all mine, David." Jed's attention drifted to Ben before a chuckle fell from his lips. "Um, yeah, I'm definitely honored that Ben gave me a chance." Even though his smile was prominent as he spoke, he meant his words. Wait, did David just call Ben a co-owner? As in, he co-owns this bank? Wouldn't that mean he's like... loaded? Jed's inner monologue was interrupted by the sound of his boyfriend's voice.
Jed watched the two of them, his head tilted slightly to the side. Card and cheque book? Jed was pretty sure his confusion was visible on his face. He seemed to blink out of it quickly just on time for Ben's friend to excuse himself. "It was really nice meeting you too, David." Once Ben had everything he needed, they made their way out of the bank, and once they were outside, Jed's attention moved to Ben. "Oh, it's not a problem. It was kinda fun, actually." Jed was definitely pleased to hear that the bank was meant for supernaturals. No wonder David and Ben knew each other's stories and weren't afraid to talk about them in public like that. They felt safe inside of the bank which was definitely a good thing. "So, co-owner, huh? That must mean you're loaded." Jed teased with a grin forming on his lips. "Wait, are you loaded?"

“It really is,” Ben agreed even though he knew that Jed was just teasing him. “I’d given up hope of ever finding someone I’d feel this way about before you came along.” He had spent such a long time on his own that he honestly hadn’t thought that he would find anyone who would make him feel the way that Jed did – Ben loved him more than he had thought it was even possible to love someone. Right from the start Ben had felt drawn to him and that feeling had only grown stronger as they had started spending more time together. Ben had heard people talking about finding their soulmate before and he had never truly believed them but now he was pretty sure that he had found his in Jed so he fully intended on keeping his promise. Ben knew that he wouldn’t take back meeting Jed for anything in the world but he did hate the fact that Jed and his family had been put through so much pain and he was determined to make sure that that didn’t happen again. Ben could see the confusion on Jed’s face as he asked if they could head into the bank and he knew that he would have to explain but first he wanted to see what hoops he had to jump through in order to regain access to his account. As it turned out it wasn’t too difficult considering that David was there that day and for that Ben really was glad. As Jed said he was honoured that he had given him a chance, Ben couldn’t stop a smile from forming on his face. “No chance necessary, I never could ignore how I feel about you.” That was something that Ben had never come across before, he had developed feelings for Jed straight away even though he had known that it would be for the best if he kept a distance the same way he always did. Jed had singlehandedly changed everything for him and to begin with that had scared Ben but he knew now that he wouldn’t have it any other way. Once he had everything he needed they headed back outside once more and Ben couldn’t help but laugh as Jed said that it was quite fun. “I think that’s the first time I’ve heard anyone say that going to a bank is fun,” he chuckled. Ben knew that that particular bank was different, as far as he knew it was the only one of its kind and David took care of everything for him so Ben didn’t have to worry about a thing. It made it easier to get a replacement card when he needed it but he still had to go into a branch so they could check that he was who he said he was and there weren’t as many of them around so it wasn’t always possible to do that straight away. As Jed asked if he was loaded, Ben couldn’t stop a grin from forming on his face. “Define loaded,” he teased before nudging Jed’s arm with his own. “I’m thousands of years old, you didn’t think I had nothing, did you?” he asked, his expression playful as he looked over at his boyfriend. “I told you before that I found people who agreed to help me break my curse but none of them were able to do it. I had to do them a favour in exchange for them trying and when they failed they gave me something in exchange whether that was money or an object which in some cases became quite valuable. I also did some cash in hand work during my travels to tide me over. David was a warlock when we met but he was turned into a vampire and I helped him adjust after he completed the transition. He told me he wanted to set up a bank for people like us so I gave him the money to do that and in exchange he made me a co-owner but I’m a silent partner. I get regular payments from my share and David handles investments and all of the boring stuff for me,” he shrugged. “Over the years the amount I’ve saved has grown so if there is ever anything you want just let me know,” he offered, knowing that they might as well enjoy it. Jed felt a soft smile form on his lips when Ben agreed with him. It was definitely enough to make him blush. Ben always seemed to know what to say to make his heart skip a beat in the best way possible. Even when they were talking to Ben's friend, his response was enough to make his heart skip a beat as he released a chuckle, feeling a little flustered but it was also such a good feeling that he embraced with open arms.
When Ben teased him for saying that he had fun in the bank, he couldn't help the chuckle that followed as he nudged Ben. "Hey, it was a supernatural bank. I've never been to one before." Jed said with a grin on his lips. Jed's brows quirked up when Ben revealed that he was, in fact, loaded. "Well, uh, maybe..." He really did think that Ben didn't have much on him. He was also pretty sure that his parents had felt the same way, too. "Wow." Jed breathed out a soft chuckle as he seemed to take a moment or two to absorb the information. "So you are loaded." Jed whispered yet another 'wow'.
"Oh, are you gonna spoil me?" Jed asked with a chuckle falling from his lips. "Honestly, I'm good though. I have everything that I need already, what else could I possibly ask for." Jed's voice was soft as he spoke, his eyes were focused solely on Ben. "I'm glad you got the money sorted out, though." Jed added a moment later with a quick nod of his head following. "I'm also glad I got to learn new things about you. It's pretty cool, actually." Jed said with a gentle smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

Ben felt a smile touch his lips as he realised that Jed was blushing. That definitely wasn't his intention but he couldn't deny that he was incredibly cute. He really did feel lucky to have found Jed, it was something that he hadn't expected at all when he had decided to take a gamble and head to Mystic Falls but he knew now that he wouldn't have it any other way. Jed had changed everything for him and for the first time Ben was excited about what the future was going to hold. In all his years of living he'd never had anything to look forward to like this before or anyone that he felt like this about and he knew that he wanted to make the most of it. There were times when he wondered if perhaps he was a little too honest with Jed but he knew that he would much rather that than the alternative, especially after the argument they'd had the night before. As Jed said it was a supernatural bank and he'd never been to one before, Ben couldn't help but laugh. "Alright, I'll give you that. I'm not sure if there are any others but this was the first of it's kind," he grinned. That was why Ben had wanted to help his friend make it work, he had realised that it was a good idea for people like them to have somewhere they could go and feel safe without having to worry about humans asking too many questions or making things difficult and it seemed to be going well. As Jed confirmed that he'd thought that he didn't have anything, Ben felt a smile touch his lips. "And you still wanted to be with me? That's really cute," he admitted, unable to ignore the way his heart skipped a beat at that realisation. "I have an account and a vault that contains some of the objects I've collected over the years but before you found me I was attacked. I managed to get out but the car I was driving went up in flames and everything I had went with it. That same monster found me and killed me and then you came along. The nearest branch was hours away so you were half right, until now I haven't had anything," he explained. He hadn't deliberately kept it from Jed, he just hadn't really thought too much about it. "That's why I'm so grateful for everything you and your family has done for me but I plan on repaying them now that I finally can," he added gently. They really had gone above and beyond for him and he knew that he wasn't going to take that for granted. "I will if you'll let me," Ben grinned as Jed asked if he was going to spoil him, knowing that he would like nothing more. Jed's answer was enough to have Ben's expression softening and he couldn't resist leaning forward and pressing a gentle kiss to Jed's lips. "If you think of anything let me know," he added gently. "I'm still me though, I've never been one to go crazy buying things for myself," he assured Jed, needing him to know that nothing was going to change now. Ben had grown up in a much simpler time and he had meant it when he'd told Jed that he liked simple. He didn't tend to indulge too often but when it came to Jed he knew that he would have no problem with spoiling him. "So am I, it's definitely a relief to know I won't have to keep relying on the kindness of others," he admitted. He had never been good at doing that and he'd honestly felt guilty about it so he was glad he didn't have to worry about that any longer. "I'm an open book, anything you want to know just tell me," he said, a smile touching his lips as his eyes met Jed's. "I want to learn everything about you as well." Together they continued heading down the street an Ben's gaze swept over the names of the different shops. "Which phone shop is it you wanted to go to?" he asked as they walked. JED SALTZMAN

– I freed myself from words never said –
“See? How is that not a rad thing?” Jed looked over his shoulder, feeling a small smile form on his lips. His attention drifted back to Ben as he explained that he didn’t exactly think that Ben had any money on him. “Yup. I mean, money isn’t exactly that my family lacks, so it really didn’t matter to me that you didn’t have any money on you.” When he fell for Ben, he fell for him. He didn’t care at all about the fact that he didn’t have any money on him. “That’s pretty damn cool. Not the dying part and the whole explosion, but the fact that you have like — a vault, literally so cool.” Jed said with a breathless chuckle falling from his lips as he shoved his free hand inside of his pocket, his posture casual and relaxed as always. “I mean, I’m not them but I’m pretty sure they won’t take the money. They did it without expecting anything in return, whether you were broke or not.” Jed said with a gentle smile tugging at this lips. “They just did it because they want to help.”
“That’s pretty sweet.” Jed said with a gentle smile forming on his lips. When Ben leaned forward to leave a kiss on his lips, Jed was more than happy to return it, his hand leaving the safety of his pocket to let it rest gently against Ben’s cheek before he leaned back from the kiss. “Okay.” Jed said with a soft smile on his lips. “I know. But you know, the way I see you isn’t going to change if you buy anything with your money because it’s your money.” Jed assured him in a soft voice. He didn’t want Ben to think that Jed was going to view him any differently if he used his money to buy whatever he liked.
Jed felt a soft smile form on his lips when Ben expressed that it was a relief to know that he won’t have to keep relying on the kindness of others to push through the day. He was definitely happy for Ben, too. “I really don’t think I can top the fact that you have a vault unless I reveal that I’m batman or something like that.” Jed said with a chuckle falling from his lips not long after.
As they continued scanning the stores, Jed released a soft hum as he thought about it for a moment. ”This one is pretty cool. I’m friends with the guy working in there, so he’ll hook up with the good phones.” Jed said with a quick nod of his head following as he began making his way into the shop, Ben’s hand still in his own.
“Yo, Albert. What’s up, man.” Jed did the whole ‘bro’ handshake and pat on the back before he leaned back, his smile evident on his lips. “This is my boyfriend, Ben. Ben, this is my friend, Albert.” He introduced them to each other, his smile still evident on his lips. ”Hey, man! It’s good to meet you.” Albert was just a year younger than Jed, he looked human for the most part and that’s because he was.
“Alright, dude. Uh, look, here’s the deal. I’m no expert on phones, neither is my boyfriend, so just, hook us up with the good stuff. My budget isn’t low, so go crazy, but not like, too crazy.” Jed said with a quick nod of his head following. “Then you came to the right person, my dude. Alright, I’ve got you.” And from there, Albert showed them the phones and Jed made his decision pretty quickly on his new phone. Albert hooked them with the rest of the stuff needed to have perfectly functioning phones and almost immediately, Jed saved Ben’s number and added the numbers of his family and pack on his phone, looking pretty content once he was done. “Alright, so now that’s dealt with. Where else do you wanna go? Unless you wanna head back to the school? I’m fine with either, really.”

“I guess it is pretty cool,” Ben said, a smile touching his lips as he gave Jed’s hand a gentle squeeze. He knew that it might seem a little strange now that he thought about it but it had been the norm to him for such a long time that he hadn’t really given it too much thought until now. “I know. You’re such a good guy, I knew that would never matter to you,” he admitted gently. Jed had fallen for him anyway and he had fallen for Jed in return. Money wasn’t something that Ben had ever had to worry about while he was growing up and the truth was that he never really worried about it too much now either. It was something that he had always needed to keep him on the move and make sure that he had the basics meaning food, clothing and shelter but that was about it. As Jed spoke again, Ben couldn’t help but laugh. “In that case your luck is in. You and your family have given me a home here which means I can have them bring all my belongings to this branch,” he chuckled. “When they do I’ll show you inside it.” Ben had already hidden the fact that he was disappearing every few days and not returning until a monster had killed him and he’d resurrected. He had seen how angry that had made Jed and he knew that he didn’t want to keep anything else a secret from his boyfriend. As Jed said he didn’t think his parents would accept the money, Ben’s expression turned thoughtful for a moment. “I had a feeling you might say that. I didn’t think they would accept anything personally but I thought they might accept a donation to the school so they can use it to carry on helping others like me and you.” They had taken Jed in and given him a home and a family as well as a school where he could be around others like himself and in a way they had done the same for Ben so he wanted to make sure that that legacy continued if he could. A smile touched Ben’s lips as Jed kissed him back and he nodded as Jed said that the way he saw him wasn’t going to change if he bought him anything. “I know it won’t. Honestly money doesn’t really mean a lot to me, we didn’t have it when I was younger so I only ever use it to make sure I have what I need. I’ve seen the way that some people like to spoil their loved ones but I’ve never really had that until now,” he admitted gently. He knew that Jed didn’t care about the money and the truth was that Ben didn’t either but since he had it he knew that when he did want it then he wanted to do something good with it and spoiling Jed now and then seemed like a pretty good way of doing just that. “At the very least I hope you’ll let me take you out on a proper date soon,” he added. It was something that he had heard about before but he had never been on an actual date himself and he knew that he wanted to experience that with Jed. As Jed said he couldn’t top having a vault unless he revealed he was Batman or something, Ben couldn’t help but laugh. “You’re much better than Batman and much hotter too,” he chuckled. Looking around them as they continued making their way through town, Ben nodded as Jed said which shop he would like to go into to get a new phone. “Sounds perfect,” he nodded, giving Jed’s hand a gentle squeeze as they headed into the shop. A smile touched his lips as he watched Jed with his friend and that smile only widened when Jed didn’t hesitate in introducing him as his boyfriend while his heart skipped a beat. “It’s good to meet you too,” he nodded. He had no idea about phones or anything like that so he was happy to follow Jed’s lead and by the time they emerged from the shop they each had a phone that was working. Ben’s had Jed’s number programmed into it along with those of Jed’s parents and Josie in case any of them needed to get hold of him. He wasn’t sure about any others but he knew that that would come with time. As Jed asked if there was somewhere else he wanted to go or whether he wanted to head back to the school, Ben’s expression turned thoughtful for a moment. “How about we grab that coffee?” he suggested. Jed’s lips stretched into a grin as Ben agreed with him that it was pretty cool. He nodded his head in agreement because to him, it was pretty rad. Money wasn’t exactly something that Jed’s family lacked, so the fact that Ben didn’t have a lot of money on him didn’t really deter Jed. If anything, it made him want to help Ben even more because he knew that the world depended a lot more on money now more than ever. But now that he knows Ben isn’t exactly broke, it still didn’t change the way he saw Ben. He was still the same person he fell in love with. “Hell yeah.” Jed’s grin was still locked on his lips as he said that, looking pretty excited about that. His expression turned thoughtful for a moment as Ben made his intentions clear by offering to make a donation to the school instead which was something he knew his parents would appreciate because it would help them take on more kids. “That would be pretty nice of you, Ben.” Jed’s voice was soft as he said that. It would definitely make a difference.
Jed’s expression softened as he listened to Ben, he nodded his head slowly in an understanding manner because it definitely made sense to him. “In this case, you can spoil me all you want. I won’t say no,” Jed said with a grin locked on his lips. It would definitely be a whole new experience for Jed, but he had no doubt that he’d like it anyway. “Oh, you know, you can take me out on that date any time you want.” Jed pointed out, his eyes relaxing on Ben again. “Just like, let me know beforehand, so I can, y’know, ditch the plaids.” He gestured to what he was wearing with a chuckle falling from his lips not long after. “Oh, wow, I’m better and hotter? You really do know how to stroke a guy’s ego, don’t you?” Jed couldn’t help the chuckle that left his lips at that, seeming pleased with the compliment tossed his way. Once they both solved the whole issue with the phones, it was up to them to decide where they wanted to go next and when Ben suggested grabbing the coffee that he mentioned earlier, he nodded his head almost instantly. “Sure, let’s head to the coffee bean, then. They do have some pretty good coffee there.” With the weather slowly but surely getting hotter, Jed was craving an iced coffee to help him feel cool again. He began making his way to the coffee bean with Ben, his hand still in his own and once they entered the coffee shop, he let his eyes roam the overhead menu. “I think I’ll have an iced latte with an extra vanilla pump with caramel drizzle on top. What about you?”

Ben knew that the fact that he now had access to his account again really didn’t change anything, it just meant that he wouldn’t have to rely on Jed’s family for everything the way he had done since he’d arrived in town. They had given him a home at the Salvatore School and for the first time he felt like he had found somewhere he really fit in. He still had yet to come across anyone who was as old as he was but there was another nephilim at school so he at least wasn’t alone in that but truth be told that out of everything it was Jed who meant the most to him. This was the kind of life that he had always seen others having but he had never thought that he would get to have it himself. Now he did he knew that he wanted to enjoy every moment of it. Seeing the excited look on Jed’s face at the idea of taking a look around the vault was enough to have Ben smiling in return. To him it had been completely normal but Jed was excited and now Ben couldn’t wait for him to see it. He had never really done a lot with his money but now he had the chance to do something good and he knew that he wanted to do just that. “Then that’s what I’ll do. As long as others get the same chance at a new life that we’ve been given then that’s all I want,” Ben nodded. He had spent so much time living his life in solitude for the most part but he had a home and he had people he cared about now and Ben knew that he wanted others to have that as well. “In that case I will. I’ve always wanted to have the chance to do that,” he admitted. He hadn’t thought that it would ever happen but he’d meant it when he’d said that Jed had changed everything for him and he wanted to enjoy every moment of their time together. As Jed said that he could take him out on a date any time before asking for some notice so he could ditch the plaids, Ben couldn’t help but laugh. “I don’t know, I have a soft spot for you in plaids. They look good on you,” he chuckled. “I’ll definitely give you a heads up thought. How about tomorrow night?” he suggested, knowing that it wouldn’t be fair to keep Jed away from his family tonight after everything that had happened and the fact that they had already spent last night together. “Of course I do,” Ben laughed as Jed said he knew how to stroke a guy’s ego. “It helps that it’s true. You know how hot I find you,” he added with a grin. He had seen a lot of different people in passing over the years but none of them had ever had the same effect on him that Jed had and he knew that they never would. He still didn’t understand why Jed affected him so much but he knew that he wouldn’t have it any other way. “Sounds good to me,” he nodded as Jed suggested they head to the Coffee Bean. They were still holding hands as they entered the coffee shop but that was second nature now. Ben often found himself reaching for Jed’s hand when they were together and he knew that Jed did the same. There were a couple of people who gave them surprised looks but Ben didn’t care about that and it definitely wasn’t enough to have him even thinking about letting go of Jed’s hand. They might not be the kind of couple that most would expect but he didn’t care about that one bit, they were happy and that was all that mattered. Glancing over the menu, Ben’s expression turned thoughtful for a moment. “I think I’ll have an iced flat white with a vanilla pump,” he nodded, knowing that a flat white of any variety was often his go to drink. “Would you like anything to eat?”JED SALTZMAN

Jed nodded his head in agreement with Ben. He loved everything that the school stood for. He loved the fact that it offered a second chance to those who needed it the most. It made him proud to be a member of the school. The world truly had a way of making you feel like a monster just because of the fact that you’re different. But at the school, you were surrounded by other people who are just as different. Sure, there were still bad students at the school that loved to torment people and for a while, Jed was one of those people until he realized that he was acting like the type of Alpha his father had wanted him to become. He was no better than his own father, whom he grew to despise with his entire heart, especially after the man’s death because even in death, he was still ruining Jed’s life.
“It’s my first time being spoiled by someone, especially my significant other, so this is definitely a new experience for me too,” Jed said with a gentle smile already tugging at the corner of his lips. “In this case, I’m gonna start wearing them all the time. Actually, I’m kinda doing that already, so you’re in luck.” Jed said with a breathless chuckle falling from his lips. “Tomorrow night sounds good to me,” Jed replied with a quick nod of his head following. With how tonight turned out, he knew that he’d have to spend some time with his family to reassure them that he was okay. It was honestly crazy to think back on it now. Not long ago, he was literally resembling charred meat that’s been left on a grill for too long, but now, he’s walking around, looking okay.
It was all thanks to Ben.
“Oh my god, you didn’t just call me hot when you exist. Like, dude, your eyes are so blue, how are your eyes so blue?” Jed seemed to realize something. “Did I just ‘dude’ you? Sorry, it’s difficult to shut off sometimes.” He added a moment later with a chuckle following. “But my point still stands. You’re a whole vision, honestly.”
“Oh, good choice! Flat white is actually my second favorite thing to order.” Jed nodded his head in approval before his eyes relaxed on the variety of desserts on display. “I think I’ll have, hmm…” Jed trailed off. “I’ll have the carrot cake, I guess. Sounds fun and healthy. Gotta make up for all the calories I burned yesterday, right?” Jed offered with a grin resting on his lips. “Sorry, too soon, still?”

Throughout his whole life Ben had been trying to find a place where he actually fit in. Even with his mom, Ashur and the rest of the people in the village he had grown up in Ben had known that he was different. He had tried to ignore it and in the years that had followed since he had been cursed he had kept himself at a distance from those around him but now for the first time he honestly felt like he had found a place that he could call home. Jed and Ric had taken a chance on him and given him a place to stay but they had given him so much more than that and he knew that he would always be grateful to them. Ben hadn’t known what the connection he felt towards Jed was at first but it was something so much more intense than anything he had ever felt before and he was enjoying being able to get to know as much as he could about Jed. He seemed in his element at the Salvatore School and even though Ben had originally seen what Jed was as being a true curse like his own he now knew that that wasn’t the case. Jed might have to go through agony every full moon but he was meant to be a werewolf and Ben couldn’t deny that he was proud of the man that Jed was becoming. He had already changed during the time they had known each other and that was definitely for the better as far as Ben was concerned. “In that case maybe we can work it out together,” Ben said, a smile touching his lips as he looked over at Jed and tried to ignore the way that his heart started to race when Jed called him his significant other. That wasn’t a term he was that familiar with but he could guess what Jed meant by it and it was something that he knew that he could definitely get used to hearing. “You won’t hear any arguments from me,” he grinned when Jed said that he was going to start wearing plaids all the time. They really did suit him and Ben knew that they made Jed feel comfortable so that was all that mattered to him. “Great,” he nodded as Jed said that tomorrow night for their date sounded good to him. Ben knew that he couldn’t be selfish with Jed that evening, his family would want to spend some real time with him after everything that had happened the day before and Ben knew that he couldn’t stand in the way of that. It wasn’t that long ago that they had lost Jed but Ben knew that he wasn’t going to let that happen again. As Jed spoke again, Ben couldn’t help but laugh. “Yeah, you did just ‘dude’ me but I don’t mind,” he chuckled. “You might find it hard to believe but to me you’re a vision, Jed. No one has ever held a candle to you.” He had seen a lot of different people over the years but none of them had ever been as hot to him as Jed was and he knew that none of the people he had yet to meet would be either. “I’m always going to think you’re hot so you’d better get used to it,” he added with a grin as he gave Jed’s hand a gentle squeeze. No one else could make him feel the way that Jed did and Ben knew that he wouldn’t want them to either. “I’ll have to remember that,” he nodded as Jed said that a flat white was his second favourite order. Jed’s next words and the bad joke were enough to have Ben laughing and he shook his head. “It’s not too soon, I’d rather you get these jokes out of your system with me,” he grinned. He wasn’t sure how anyone else would take them but to him it was good to see Jed laughing about it because it was something that he had never thought that he would get to hear again. “Are you sure you want to stick to something healthy?” he asked as he eyed the cakes for a moment. “I think I might go for chocolate,” he added as they reached the front of the line and were ready to place their order. – I freed myself from words never said –
Jed's lips stretched into a grin at Ben's words before he nodded his head a few times. "That sounds like a plan to me." He was definitely going to spend quite some time browsing through the internet for date ideas and also for pointers on how to spoil your boyfriend. Jed let out a chuckle at Ben's words when he told him that he won't hear any arguments about Jed wearing plaid shirts all the time. Jed wasn't really that diverse with his fashion and preferred to keep it comfortable at all times. But maybe he could step outside of his comfort zone for their first date. Jed didn't seem to dislike the idea at all, actually.
"Sorry, it's hard to turn it off sometimes." Jed said with a chuckle falling from his lips not long after when Ben confirmed that he had just called him a 'dude'. He had no one else to blame but the guys at the school, especially MG. They often talked to each other like that and it was starting to bleed into his everyday conversations, especially with his own boyfriend. Jed's expression softened at Ben's words as his own heart skipped a beat, finding Ben's words so endearing. They honestly just... made him so happy. "God, you really do have a way with words." Jed breathed out with a chuckle falling from his lips, his hand moving to feel his cheek, and yup, it was hot to the touch.
"Hey, where's the fun in blurting them all out. It's gonna burn me out way too quickly." Jed's lips stretched into a grin before he chuckled at his own poor joke. "Okay, I'm stopping for real now." Jed promised. His eyes lit up for a moment at Ben's question. "Oh boy, uh, forget healthy, then. I'll take a tiramisu." Jed's shoulders lifted and dropped in a quick shrug, looking quite pleased with his decision.
Once they were ready to order, he stood before the cashier. "Hey! What would you like to order?" The cashier asked with a smile on her lips. Jed told her what he'd like to order and then her attention drifted to Ben and Jed immediately noticed that she was checking him out.
Jed's eyes narrowed slightly as his jaw flexed. "And what would you like to order, handsome?" Her voice soon interrupted the silence and Jed released a small scoff. Oh, the nerve on that girl. Jed didn't think he was the jealous or possessive type, but apparently, he was full of surprises today, too. "My handsome boyfriend would like to order a flat white with an extra vanilla pump. He would also like to order a chocolate cake. Thanks." Jed's voice was kind, but his expression surely was not which gave away that he was pretending to be nice.

"I'm looking forward to it," Ben admitted. He had never had the chance to spoil anyone before and he had never been on a date before either. He wasn't entirely sure how to go about doing either but he knew that he would figure it out. He loved Jed and Ben had already had so many new experiences with him so it felt right that he should get to share in all of this with him too. Ben had a feeling that he was going to have to ask for some advice about where to take Jed for their first date which might be a bit interesting since he knew that some of their friends hadn't been out on a date before either but he knew that he would figure something out and he wanted to make it special for both of them. Ben had no idea what he was going to wear either but as long as they were both comfortable that was all that mattered to him. "You have nothing to apologise for, I really don't mind," Ben chuckled. He certainly wasn't going to take offence to the fact that Jed had called him dude, that was for sure. He knew that it was automatic for Jed considering that he talked to their friends like that and Ben had always found it quite amusing if he was honest. Things had definitely changed from the way they were when he was growing up, that was for sure. As Jed said that he had a way with words, Ben couldn't help but laugh. "I mean every one of them," Ben assured him. "Perhaps in time you might start to see yourself the way I do," he added gently, an amused smile touching his lips as he realised that Jed was blushing. Ben knew that Jed didn't see himself that way right now but that just meant that Ben would have to keep telling him until he did and he was fine with that. "It's okay, you don't have to stop. Just remember you might not get the same reaction to your jokes from others that you get from me," he chuckled. Ben knew that it was Jed's way of moving on from what had happened but he wasn't sure if others would understand it. "I thought you might say that," he grinned as Jed changed his mind. "You definitely deserve something nice after the couple of days you've had." Jed didn't need to worry about what he ate with a body like his anyway, it was enough to take Ben's breath away. Watching as Jed placed his order, Ben was a little surprised at the way the cashier then addressed him but before he could say anything Jed was speaking and Ben felt a half smile tug at his lips as he realised that Jed was jealous. The cashier seemed stunned by Jed's words and she looked at Ben for confirmation. "He's right on all accounts, I'm spoken for and if the flat white could be iced that would be perfect, thanks," Ben said, flashing the woman a smile as he gave Jed's hand a gentle squeeze. She seemed disappointed but nodded and said someone would bring their orders over in a moment so Ben pulled some money out of his pocket with the hand that wasn't holding Jed's and handed it over to pay for everything before they headed off to find a table. "You're really hot when you're jealous, you know," he grinned as he looked over at Jed, bringing his free hand up and letting it rest against his cheek. "You don't need to be though, I'm not interested in anyone but you. Besides, it looks like you have a fan of your own," he added as he looked up and saw that the girl making the drinks kept stealing glances as Jed. JED SALTZMAN
