CHARACTER CREATION

SITE RULES
- AGE LIMIT. In accordance with Proboards' Terms of Service as well as the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) you must be at least 13 years old to be a member.
- RATING. In accordance with the Proboards Terms of Service, this is a PG-13 site and we ask that you respect that.
- POSTING BEFORE APPROVAL. Please make sure that you do not post anywhere other than the applications boards before your character is approved.
- RESPECT. This should go without saying but the staff here at Dangerous Liaisons aim to treat each and every member with the respect that they deserve and we expect no less in return. In the event of a disagreement, please contact a member of staff and we will do our best to resolve the issue. We do not tolerate out of character on-site drama of any form and the word of a staff member on the matter is final.
- ACTIVITY. Real life comes first, we all understand that. If you know you are going to be absent for more than five consecutive days please make sure you post a Leave of Absence. Activity does not mean just logging in, we require a minimum of three posts to be done as each character over the course of a month in order for them to be considered active. However, if a person has more than four characters then we require a minimum of three posts to be done as four of those characters per month and a minimum of one post per month for each character after that.
- ACTIVITY CHECKS. Activity checks are being done each month and apply to all characters. For the purpose of the activity check we require a link to a minimum of one post per character per month however if you fail to meet the requirements and have not posted a valid absence or you repeatedly fall below the three required posts per month you will be issued with a warning. Failing for a second month in a row will result in your character being placed in the inactive member group. If your character has been placed in the inactive member group you then have one month to do a minimum of two posts and once these have been done your character will be put back in their correct member group. Failure to do so may result in your account being deleted. Staff have complete discretion when it comes to deleting accounts at the end of these activity checks.
- FANDOMS. While Dangerous Liaisons incorporates plots from the beginning of season 2 of The Vampire Diaries, the beginning of season 4 of Teen Wolf and the middle of season 10 of Supernatural, we do not require members to have seen all three or even any of the shows in order to join. All we ask is that you are respectful of what we are trying to do here and support and participate in our plots as much as possible. Please note that while we currently do not follow any of the plots from The Originals, characters from the series may be played on request. Please contact a member of staff for more information.
- THEFT. This is something that we take very seriously here on Dangerous Liaisons. Theft will not be tolerated any anyone found breaking this rule will be reported and, if a member of this site, they will be banned. All content on this site has been created by it's members and we will not tolerate any stealing of graphics, applications, posts, original characters or anything to do with the boards, skin and layout of this site. Applications, even those for canons, must be in completely your own words - we do not accept copying and pasting from a Wiki page, wanted ad or anyone else's app.
- ADVERTISING. Advertising is allowed only in the appropriate boards. Any advertising in the cbox, in any other boards or through PMs will not be tolerated.
CHARACTER CREATION
- REGISTRATION. Please make sure you register with your character's first name when making an account. If your desired username is already taken or you know that it will be used for a canon character, please register with your character's full name as their username. Once you have registered you are welcome to put up an icon for your character but no other graphics should be displayed until your character has been approved.
- DISPLAY NAME. When your character has been approved you are welcome to change your account's username to their display name which must be all in capitals, e.g. ELENA GILBERT. You can also put up other graphics for your character if you wish although please make sure they don't exceed 500 pixels in width and 400 pixels in height.
- MULTIPLE CHARACTERS. This site operates on a one character per account policy.
- APPLICATIONS. We have been seeing a lot of new characters being made lately and it is clear that there are a lot more exciting characters on the horizon but we all feel that it is time that we record some of the rules we have always followed when it comes to applications but have never actually written down so you guys know what you need to keep in mind. More thorough guidelines to the pending process can be found here.
- AMOUNT. There is no limit on the amount of characters that one person can have provided that they are all kept active, nor is there a minimum post count that each account must have before you can make a new one. If you have multiple characters that are not active, however, we may turn down a request for a new character. We do ask, however, that you have at least 2 active threads (and a total of 3 posts) with the first character you created before making another one, this carries onto the second account and making a third account, so on and so forth.
- ORIGINAL CHARACTERS. We accept original characters as well as canons, however they cannot be related to a canon unless all those involved agree and staff approval has been given first. Please note that if the first account you make is an original character vampire we ask that the character is no more than 500 years old as the older a vampire is the stronger they are. Vampires that are older than 500 years old will be allowed for additional characters. Please note we are not currently accepting any more alphas.
- SPECIES. The three fandoms on offer mean that there are lots of different species on offer to choose from and our Species Guide contains details of these. If you would like to play a character of a species currently not on offer including a different kind of werecreature please contact a member of staff and we will consider the request.
ROLEPLAY CONTENT
- ROLEPLAYING. All roleplaying should take part in proper threads, this site does not operate on a profile to profile roleplaying policy.
- RATING. Like all Proboards sites, Dangerous Liaisons operates on a PG-13 rating. No threads may contain content above that rating.
- GOD-MODDING. God-modding is not tolerated on this site without the permission of the other character involved. The only exception to this rule is when the character being god-modded is one that we do not have on this site at that time and even then you must stay true to the other character. If in doubt, please contact a member of staff before posting.
