“You won’t have to worry about that, it’ll be like I never left,” Diego chuckled. He knew that they would still see each other all the time at work but it was never quite the same. He had grown so close to his brother and Ethan during the time that he had been living with them and the kids as well so he knew that he didn’t want to lose that closeness now. Antonio was so much older than he was so it had just been Diego for the most part while he was growing up and the truth was that he had grown to like being surrounded by so many of his family members. He really was so proud of the family that Toni and Ethan had built together and he was glad to be a part of it. “I’m going to hold you to that, you know,” Diego assured him as Ethan said that they would visit often. “I know the apartment is only temporary but when we find a house we still won’t be too far away.” That was something that he knew that he would always keep in mind while he and Tommy searched, Diego wanted to make sure that they weren’t too far away from his family and he knew that Tommy didn’t want to be too far away from Teo either. It really was strange to be moving out but Diego knew that he was ready for this and he was excited to start the next chapter with Tommy. “Thank you. The same goes for you guys, I’m always around if you need me,” he promised, knowing that that wasn’t going to change either. He could see that Toni was doing his best to hold it together and Ethan was doing the same. Once he’d hugged both of them one last time he quickly blinked his tears away before picking up the last of his things and heading outside, knowing that if he stayed any longer then he was going to cry and that was the last thing he wanted. Making his way outside, Diego loaded the last of his things into the car before climbing into the passenger’s side. A smile touched his lips as Tommy spoke and Diego didn’t waste any time in kissing him. “That was much more difficult than I thought it would be but it’s time,” he said gently. He had always known that he couldn’t stay living with them forever and he honestly had only moved in with them temporarily until he found a place of his own but they had made it clear that he didn’t have to move out and that they wanted him there so in the end he had decided to stay. Even when he and Tommy broke up and it became clear that he wasn’t going to be moving out yet after all they hadn’t minded, they had taken it all in their stride and never made him feel unwelcome and Diego was incredibly grateful to them for that. “I like the sound of that,” Diego admitted as Tommy repeated that they should go home and he kissed his boyfriend back happily. Leaning back in his seat, Diego’s hand moved to his seatbelt the moment Tommy reminded him about it. “Thanks baby, I almost forgot,” he said, leaning over and pressing a kiss to Tommy’s cheek before fastening his seatbelt and settling back into his seat. The drive to the apartment didn’t take too long at all and Diego found himself smiling over at Tommy once he’d pulled up outside the building. “Now this all feels so real,” he admitted as he let out a breath before nodding as Tommy asked if he was ready to do this. “I’ve never lived with a partner before but with you I feel like I’ve been ready for this for a long time,” he nodded, no hesitation in his voice whatsoever as he leaned over and kissed Tommy once more before climbing out of the car and starting to carry some of his things to the apartment. Tommy had already changed everything for him so it felt right that Tommy was the first partner he was going to live with as well. TOMAS SILVA

─ nothing can hurt me ─ Ethan's lips stretched into a grin at Diego's words, looking pretty pleased to hear him say that. "Okay, good. That's more like it." Ethan didn't want to feel Diego's absence, so he hoped the frequent visits would help with that. He was really happy for Diego to move out with Tomas because he could tell just how much they loved each other so, despite how painful it was to say goodbye to Diego, he knew that he would never stand in his way. He will just have to get used to having the spare bedroom empty again. He really did enjoy sharing the same house with Diego but he knew it was time to let him go, no matter how much it made his heart ache. "Good. We'll visit you guys so much that you'll get tired of us." Ethan said with the same grin still resting on his lips. He nodded his head when Diego reassured them that even when they find a house of their own, they won't be too far away. "That's great to hear, kiddo. I hope you guys have a successful house hunt." Ethan said with a gentle smile resting on his lips. "Of course, kiddo." Ethan watched Diego walk out, his eyes still full of tears. He held back from crying though because he didn't want to make things any more difficult than they already are.
Tomas's expression softened at Diego's words before he nodded his head in an understanding manner. "That's completely understandable, baby." Tomas' lips stretched into a gentle smile, his eyes fixed on his boyfriend. "But you did well." Tomas praised, his hand resting on the top of Diego's head, ruffling his hair tenderly. "I'm proud of you." Tomas took his hand away a moment later, his smile still visible on his lips. "Don't worry, baby. I'll just remind you whenever you forget." Tomas started driving after his own seatbelt was fastened. Upon their arrival in front of the apartment complex, Tomas switched off his ignition and turned his attention to Diego, his smile present on his lips. "I'm so glad to hear that, baby. I feel the exact same way. I'm very happy that you're moving in with me. I've been looking forward to this moment for a long time." Tomas was more than happy to return the kiss as he moved his hand to let it rest on Diego's cheek before they drew back so that they could start bringing everything up to their apartment. He got out of the car and reached for the boxes to carry them. Tomas entered the apartment complex and started heading up to their apartment where he kept the door open with one of the boxes so they wouldn't have to continuously open the door. His final trip was the exercise bike and once everything was inside of their apartment, Tomas closed the door. 'That's step one done. Look at us go." Tomas said with a pleased grin on his lips. "Now, we just gotta empty the boxes and we're all done. Ready to do this?" Tomas shrugged off his jacket and toed off his shoes so that he could move freely.

“You’re going to regret saying that,” Diego chuckled. He really did plan on making sure that he still got to see plenty of his family outside of work, they had been there for him through some of his darkest times and he knew that he was never going to forget that. They had helped him accept who he was and they had also helped him see that there wasn’t anything wrong with the person that he had become. Knowing how happy the two of them were together had given Diego the courage to come out and he really hadn’t looked back since. As Ethan said that they were going to visit so much that he and Tommy would get tired of them, Diego felt a smile touch his lips. “You know that will never happen,” he assured him. Diego’s family meant the world to him so he knew that he was never going to get tired of seeing them. He had grown up speaking to Toni often but they hadn’t actually seen that much of each other too often until Diego moved to Mystic Falls. Now the bond he had with his brother and Ethan was one that he knew he didn’t want to lose. “Thanks, I can’t wait until we find one,” Diego admitted. He knew that the apartment was going to be their place but it had been Tommy’s first whereas a house would be new for both of them. This was the first step towards finding that, though, so Diego was eager to take it and after saying his goodbyes he headed outside knowing that Tommy would be waiting for him. As difficult as it was moving out, Diego knew that it was going to be worth it and he couldn’t deny that he was excited as he climbed into the car. “Thanks babe,” Diego said as Tommy said he did well and that he was proud of him, leaning into his boyfriend’s touch as Tommy ruffled his hair. It was more difficult than Diego had thought that it would be but he had managed to get through it and now he was ready to start the next chapter of his life with Tommy. “I know you will, you always look out for me,” Diego said, a fond smile forming on his face as he looked over at Tommy. He was so protective and Diego really did love that about him. He always wanted what was best for the people he cared about and he always tried to make sure that they were safe. Diego had never thought that he would find anyone who loved him like Tommy did but now that he had it he knew that he didn’t want to let it go. As the reached the apartment building, Diego turned in his seat to look at Tommy and his smile returned as Tommy said he had been looking forward to this for a long time. “So have I. You’re all I’ve ever wanted and now I get to wake up next to you every morning,” he grinned. He had been doing that most mornings anyway but now it was official and he couldn’t wait. Climbing out of the car, Diego grabbed some of the boxes and carried them into the apartment. It took a few trips but soon all of his belongings were inside and Diego couldn’t help but laugh as Tommy spoke. “I know, we’re doing so well,” he chuckled as he followed Tommy’s lead and left his jacket and shoes with his boyfriend’s. “Born ready, let’s do this,” he nodded. “Hopefully it’ll be easier than packing was,” he added with a laugh as he opened the first box.
