Sam Winchester:
The power was immense. He couldn't believe what he felt before he thought he had felt power but this, this was something different. Sam Winchester was the only one who could open the cage. He was the only being that could save or destroy the world and he choose the latter. He had chosen the power over the world because he knew he wouldn't have to be held accountable for his actions. Lucifer would leave him in a drooling mess and it would all be over. All the Winchester had to do was say 'yes' and hide the fact this was a suicide mission from Lucifer when he was in his head. Sam didn't want to be Lucifer's bitch but he also couldn't live with the lives he had just taken. The thought never crossed his mind about how many potential people he had saved from becoming Special Children or even their parents from making deals with Azazel. He had started the Apocalypse again and he deserved what was to come. That was what he wanted. He wanted Lucifer to torture him as after what he had done in the last year he deserved it. However, the hunter knew that if Lucifer knew this he would do the opposite and make him remember it all and Sam would then just do Lucifer's work and torture himself. That feeling! He loved it. He felt alive. For the first time in forever he felt alive. He was finally feeling something and he liked the break from being numb. Sam was euphoric. Every atom in the human's body was ignited with fire this was exhilarating, thrilling, the calm before the storm. All he had to do now was stand face to face with Lucifer and let him win. That wasn't going to be hard as he didn't want to win. Being this close to Lucifer brought things up. He felt soo angry. There was something about being that close that just made Sam's blood boil. Was it the fact that he had no choice? Was it the fact that Heaven had let this happen to him just because Daddy left them? Was it the fact that if his own flesh and blood had tried to help him or see his side of things he wouldn't have ran to Lucifer? Or was it all down to the fact that Azazel's blood flowed inside him? He had always been angry but being this close to the cage, his cause of trauma for so long, just brought it all back. That was when he heard Ben. What happened? "Good Question." He turned around to face Ben with his black eyes. "I did this." He gestured around them as Azazel dissapeared. Just as Azazel blinked Sam wanted to wipe him out using his own powers given to him by the demon but he was too quick for him. Azazel has always been ten steps ahead even after his death. so, there was nothing now stopping Sam from leaving and leaving Lucifer to find another poor vessel like Nick but he didn't want to. The power, the rush, he lived for it to feel something and he wouldn't let anyone else have that power or the torture that went with it. All his family had abandoned him when they locked him up. They caused this. They could have stopped this if they trusted and helped him but they didn't and now he had nothing to go back to. His anger began to aim at Ben as he was the only person in the room, for now. "You did this." He pointed to the nearest body to him. "You and your father did this when you locked me up and left me to die. You didn't believe in me and now I don't believe in you." Was this just who Sam was now or was this him pushing Ben and the others away as he knew he couldn't be saved as he didn't want to be. He raised a finger to point at Ben. He could practically feel Lucifer's touch. He could feel his presence, his anger. "The only person who was there for me all along was Lucifer. He knew what I could do, what I could be and he arranged it. You and your dad just held me back, punishing me for being myself. Lucifer just helps me be me, to accept who and what I am!" Part of the hunter knew this wasn't true but he also felt it was true. If the situation was different or the devil wasn't so close he possibly would have seen sense. He raised his hand. "Everyone who dies here will come back. It will only take a second Ben. Don't be afraid. Just stand still."Tag: BEN WINCHESTER Notes: The dogooders can jump in whenever they like Words: 810

Still feeling weak from the amount of blood that he had lost, Ben knew that the sight of his uncle should make him feel better but if he was honest right now it only filled him with dread. Sam had told him what had happened the last time Lucifer was free to roam the Earth and the teenager knew just how many regrets his uncle had about what had happened back then. The last thing he had wanted was for history to repeat itself but now it seemed like that was going to happen no matter how much he wanted things to be different. He wanted Sam to be free of all of this but Ben wasn’t sure whether that was ever going to happen. He hadn’t agreed with his dad’s plan to lock his uncle up and he hadn’t known about it until it was too late either. By then Sam was already trapped and there wasn’t anything that Ben could do about it. He had tried talking his dad around, he had tried to make them all see that there had to be another way, but they had thought that they were doing what was right for the world just like Sam had when he had said yes to Lucifer the first time around. One thing Ben had learned was that his family had a habit of doing what they thought was right even if that put them at odds with everyone else around them and he wouldn’t be at all surprised if this was no different. “No, you wouldn’t do that,” Ben said, not wanting to believe it when Sam said that he had killed the other kids. The cage was open, that much of what Azazel had said was true, but Ben knew that Azazel wasn’t going to do a thing to bring the kids back and he had a feeling that it wouldn’t make a difference to the demon if they stayed dead either. “I didn’t want any of this to happen,” he added, doing his best to stay calm even as he could tell that Sam’s anger was beginning to rise. Right now all of that anger was directed towards him and Ben knew that he needed to find a way to get through to his uncle. He had thought that they had turned a corner when Sam had filled him in on what they both were that day at the motel but now it seemed that any progress that had been made had been undone by his dad’s plan to lock Sam away. “I didn’t know what dad planned until it was too late, he didn’t tell me,” he said, hoping that Sam would believe him although he doubted it. “I tried to talk him around but I couldn’t. In the end I tried to free you but by that time you had already escaped,” he added. He had never given up on his uncle and he knew that he never would. “This isn’t who you are Sam, we both know that. You’re Dean’s brother and you’re my uncle. You’re family and I don’t give up on my family. I know you’re trying to push me away but it isn’t going to work.” He didn’t want to turn his back on Sam but his next words were enough to make Ben’s blood run cold and whatever colour was left in his face drained away pretty quickly. “Is that what Azazel told you? He told me and the others the same thing but he lied, Sam. It’s what he does!” he exclaimed. “He doesn’t care about you and neither does Lucifer. I do, you know that,” he said, hoping that his words would get through to him. There was something in Sam’s expression that told him that it wasn’t working, through, and Ben raised his hands in surrender to show that he didn’t mean any harm. He knew that he could try and use his abilities to throw Sam backwards or electrocute him but Sam had much more practice with his abilities that Ben did and the teenager wasn’t at full strength anyway so he knew that he would only end up using him too much. It didn’t matter that Sam was telling him not to be afraid, the truth was that he was terrified of dying again. It was different when he was hunting as then he always tried to be in control of the situation but now he was far from it. “Please don’t do this, not again.” It had taken long enough for the nightmares to subside the first time, the last thing he wanted was to be back at square one. Ben didn’t want to attack Sam and risk hurting him but if Sam was determined to cut all ties with his family and kill him then Ben knew that he couldn’t stop him. @clairenovak & @deanwinchester (Any order is fine )

It had been a long morning as Dean had finished up on a case around the local high school. A rogue vampire was making sloppy mistakes such as screwing up its compulsion on its victims, which made it honestly easier for Dean to track the individual vampire down. The case had only taken a day and a half to really solve and the ‘clean up’ time was only a couple hours long. Dean tossed the dufflebag he’d used on the ‘clean up’ on the spare bed in the motel room and sighed as he took off one layer of clothing that happened to be his dark olive green military style jacket. He tossed it over the back of the chair that was in the corner of the motel room by the door. It was probably stained with blood spatters and was something Dean had to add to his laundry pile.
The long sleeved plaid button-up was the next article of clothing that Dean pulled from his body knowing that he needed a shower to wash the sweat and blood off. Dean was ready to peel away his tshirt when he heard his phone buzz. He casually wondered if it was Bobby trying to yell at him again for the whole Klaus and Sam deal. Perhaps it was his mother trying to comfort him while at the same time nag on him for the deal he’d made as well. Or perhaps it was Cas wondering where Dean was on the case he’d just finished. He fished into his side pocket on his jeans and pulled out his cellphone and flipped it over to see ‘BEN’ on the screen above his message. The first two seconds his brain went to the thought that Ben was just checking in because Dean knew the Ben had been disappointed at Dean’s deal as well, but once his eyes gazed over the message it seemed like his soul dropped to his feet.
‘Dad, Azazel has gathered the special children and is going to free Lucifer. You have to get to the cage now.’
Questions seemed to be flooding Dean faster than he could even analyze. Ben was part of the special children this time around… did that mean he was stuck with Azazel too? The cage was in hell? Did that mean that Ben was in hell with Azazel and the other children? His heart had sunk as the panic started to rise out of him. Usually Dean would be calm and collect if someone had texted him this but it was from his son and Dean had already lost him once he couldn’t bear to fail him again. He swallowed hard as he tried to regain his composure and go into ‘hunting’ mode. Before he could get into that mindset his heart seemed to hit the floor as he remembered that this was Sam’s move and he’d be there.
‘Will I be able to save Ben and Sam?’ The question seemed to pump the adrenaline back through Dean’s body and he knew he had to move. He raced from one side of the motel room the other as he grabbed anything and everything he could to pack for the journey to hell. ‘DAMNIT… I can’t wait for Cas to see if he has enough mojo to get us to hell… Crowley’s not going to answer me…who the hell can I get to get me there like right now?!’ The panicking question made his heart pump hard and fast. He raced through all the names of the people he knew to see if he thought any of them had a fast way down to hell. ‘Henrik.’ His mind stopped and he focused on the name. Of course Henrik knew how to get into hell since he’d been down there for some time.
Dean pulled the zipper back up the middle of the dufflebag and grabbed it along with the impala keys in his pocket. He knew he was in a race against time to save his son and he wasn’t going to waste a second of it. On his way driving above the speed limit to the area where he knew Henrik was last, he attempted to call Ben but got no answer several times. “SHIT.” Dean cursed and stuck his pocket in his pocket before gripping the steering wheel tight with both hands as he sped. ‘Please be there…please be there.’ Dean begged in his mind. He practically fell out of the impala as he reached his destination and ran to the door pounding on it immediately.
“Henrik!! Henrik?!?” Dean belted as he pounded on the door. He couldn’t bear to think about what would happen if Henrik weren’t here. It was only when the door opened that Dean felt a pebble of relief. He didn’t even wait to see Henrik’s face as he let his reason for being there just spill from his face. “….I need a way into Hell. Please my son… I can’t lose him again and I’m sure there’s a ton more kids in danger not to mention we’re all screwed if Lucifer is set free!!” Dean ended his lecture and couldn’t help but notice the stinging in his eyes from the tears forming. He couldn’t handle losing his son and his brother at once.
Dean grabbed his phone and tried one last time to send a message to his son. ‘Ben, Stay back and stay alive. I’m on my way and I’ll get you.’ Dean hit send as a tear finally ran down his cheek on the right side of his face. He looked up at Henrik. “Please just get me to Hell.”It was a mere few seconds later that Claire showed up and before Dean even had time to question her about any of this they were all on their way to hell or at least the gates of hell.
What was behind the gates of Hell was nothing that Dean was prepared for. They all seemed to rush in and then it was like a stun gun hit him as he looked at the scene in front of them. Sam was advancing onto Ben and all around them were dead special children. There was no description for the fear that welled up inside Dean as he started to shout. "SAMMY?! SAMMY ...what have you done?" It was a look of horror upon Dean's face because he had no idea how to process if Sam had done this. He felt the tears swell in his eyes because surely his brother was far from human now. 'He's gone...this can't be.'
Carry on my Wayward Son you're the lucky ones. cause most of us are heaving through corrupted lungs.

| Well that was a good way for what might have been a perfectly good evening to end quickly… and badly. She had been spending the night with Ben in their motel room. Things had been changing a little between them since Prom Night. At least she felt it changing. She hadn’t exactly voiced this and instead remained silent. The evening they were having purely friendly. Watching crap movies with popcorn while they waited for the pizza to arrive.
It was an entirely comfortable evening, watching movie after movie. Sitting next to each other in silence until Ben got up off the bed. She sat up wondering where he was going, ” Where are you going? Pizza isn’t here yet.” Claire asked him. She hadn’t heard a knock at the door and the room phone hadn’t rang to say it was at reception. When he didn’t answer her, she slipped of the bed repeating his name in attempt to get his attention.
When he reached the door and opened the door, she reached out to turn him back around. Looking into his eyes she could see that he wasn’t entirely himself. He looked completely zoned out… as though he were in a trance. She was about to react and pull him back inside when he lashed out, a blast of telekinetic energy sending her flying backward. Her back hit against the wall of the motel room, as she went down her head hit off the bed post knocking her unconscious.
While unconscious she dreamed. Flames leaping from the ground enochian symbols ignited by the flames. As she looked through the flames, she could make out the shadow of a cage and from within gleamed a pair of dark red eyes. Surrounding the cage were several figures as she felt power start to pool in around the cage… it wasn’t enough pulled away from the cage she turned just as she seen Sam come at her with a knife. She jolted awake and instantly felt her head and body hurt from colliding with the wall. She was just grateful that she had at least landed on the bed and not the floor.
She reached up and felt a little bit of blood pooling at her head as she reached out and gingerly touched her forehead wincing a little at the cut. The dream had her rattled… she had dreams this vivid before. Something told her that something was going down at the cage… it was where Ben was… the other special children and Sam. She rolled to her feet grabbing a jacket an angel blade which could also work on demons. A few other mundane weapons before stepping out intending to get Dean’s help. Though as she stepped outside, he was already speeding off…” Damnit Winchester…” She cursed out loud as she reached back inside for Ben’s keys and sped off after him. She lost track of him quickly and was cursing when several voices began whispering at her.
She looked in the rear view and could see no one near her that could be whispering. When she managed to pick one out clearly, she began driving following the directions and she soon seen the familiar black impala parked up outside a house and the incessant banging on a door, by none other than Dean. Pulling up behind the car, she swung herself out and slammed the door closed. When someone she didn’t entirely recognise answer the door, she went to grab a knife but the whispers she had been following whispered that they weren’t a threat.
She heard what Dean was asking and she then made her presence known, ” Typical Dean. Bull in a fucking china shop. What’s your plan when you get down there genius?” Claire snapped sarcastically making her presence known to them both. Flashing her mind back to the dream she had before coming here. Something she was certain that Dean would need more help than just getting downstairs. Judging from what she had foreseen… Lucifer wasn’t the only threat, Sam was one as well, ” You’ll need help to get Ben and the rest of the kids out… Trust me.” Claire told him, knowing a little more than him about what they were walking into. The vision she had while she dreamt swam in front of her eyes. She hadn’t seen Ben and was worried they were already too late. Dean would need to deal with his brother… in whatever way was needed. That wasn’t what she was going to get involved with… she was going down to save Ben and if they were early enough stop Sam from killing everyone, ” Who the hell is this?” Claire asked gesturing to the guy inside the house.
From the sounds of it though he could help them get down to hell, so she wasn’t going to grudge whose help she got here. Eventually he introduced himself as Henrik and agreed to help them. Within moments after he cast his spell, they were transported downstairs and the screaming was filling her ears, ” We’re too late…” Claire muttered to herself as she took off running toward the sound of screaming and the crackle of flames.
She ran ignoring any shouts from the two that had arrived with her. She rounded a corner just in time to see Sam advancing on Ben… as though he were going to kill him as well as he had all the others that were gathered around them in lifeless heaps. She had barely any time to react as she ran toward him screaming. What happened next probably not one was expecting her scream so loud sound waves reverberated from her lips sending shockwaves of energy toward Sam. The energy hit him and knocked him backwards allowing herself enough time to get to Ben. Not entirely aware of what she had done. She reached out for him and looked at him and sighed in relief, ” Thank god you’re OK…” Claire told him as she was overcome with relief at how close she had come to loosing him. Once certain that he was alive and in one piece she leaned up pulling him down toward her just slightly and kissed him, ignoring the carnage that surrounded them.

It was easy to tell when something was happening in Mystic Falls these days. Just a few months ago Henrik had been taken from the people he loved by rogue angels who had wanted nothing more than to punish him for the fact that Crowley had pulled him from Heaven so many years ago as well as the fact that he was a Mikaelson but his family and friends had refused to give up on him and for that he was grateful. Things had been different since he’d returned home, they had seemed quieter somehow but he hadn’t been able to shake the feeling that it was just the calm before the storm. He’d had some explaining to do when he saw Olivia again given that he’d broken the news that she was pregnant to her in a letter he had written when he had first started feeling like something bad was going to happen. He had hoped that he would never have to give it to her but he had done and since he was brought back he had been doing his best to make sure that he was there for her as much as possible. Cas had given up the last of his grace and, in the process, his life in order to save Henrik and that wasn’t lost on the warlock. He was determined to bring the angel back but figuring out how to do that was easier said than done. He had enlisted Hannah’s help with it and the two of them were working together to make it happen but it was going to take time and Henrik knew that he needed to make the most of the time that he now had with Olivia, his friends and his family too and he was trying to do just that. Henrik seemed to spend more time at Olivia’s place than he did at the apartment that he and Elijah shared these days but that day he couldn’t be found at either. Instead he had opted for spending some time with his family at the home they all shared and it was there that he frantic pounding on the door and the sound of someone calling his name so he went straight to answer it. He didn’t often spend a lot of time at the house so his friends knew to look for him elsewhere but this time he found Dean standing before him just as a second car pulled up, one that he recognised to be Ben’s, and a girl got out. Even without asking her name he knew who she had to be if she was driving Ben’s car and Henrik’s heart sank. Having Dean show up was one thing but having the girl Ben shared his room with too show up could only mean that something bad had happened to him which Dean was quick to confirm. “You’re not going to lose him, I won’t let that happen,” Henrik assured the man. Ben had become a good friend to him over the last few years and Henrik knew that he wasn’t going to let Ben or his dad go through something like that again. As the girl asked who he was, Henrik felt a grim smile work its way across his face. “I’m Henrik, you must be Claire. Ben has told me a lot about you,” he admitted. He suspected that Ben had feelings for the girl even if he hadn’t actually said as much and given how worried she was, Henrik wouldn’t be surprised if they were reciprocated. “I can get you into Hell but we’d better go now. It will take time to get to the nearest gate. Bring both cars, something tells me we might need them.” With that he closed the door behind him and started heading for the nearest car. The drive seemed to take forever with so much at stake but eventually they reached the gate and Henrik made sure to keep all three of them cloaked as they made their way inside and deeper into Hell. Having spent eight years living there after he was brought back Henrik knew the place like the back of his hand by now so it was easy to find their way through and thankfully they didn’t encounter any demons on the way, probably too cowardly to stick around. Leading the way down the stairs, Henrik used his magic to blast the door open and the three of them stepped out into the room. Littered all around the cage were bodies of teenagers, the latest round of Special Children that Azazel had created, and they were just in time to see Sam advancing on Ben. The moment Henrik’s gaze came to rest on the two of them a spell was on the tip of his tongue but suddenly Claire screamed and Sam was knocked off balance. Leaving Dean and Sam to what was sure to be an awkward moment, Henrik was about to start examining Ben’s wounds when Claire kissed him and Henrik turned away, knowing that they deserved a moment of privacy. The boy was hurt and he seemed to have lost a lot of blood but that was something that Henrik could deal with and he instead started checking on the other Special Children, hoping that at least one of them might still be alive even though deep down he knew that it was already too late. Sam Winchester:
Oh how Sam wished Ben was right about him not being able to do this but he was wrong. Sam had killed everyone in the room and even in adjacent everyone on Earth with his actions. He was certain that Azazel would try to wiggle out of his deal but Sam had tried to think of every loop hole and cut it off but he only hoped he had got every one. If not the Winchester hoped that in his actions of agreeing to house Lucifer that the archangel would at least hold the demon to his word after all it was the least the angel could do after Sam freed him. "But I did Ben. I made a deal." He looked around them both. Sam's power was starting to wane. He had used a huge chunk keeping the remaining children in place as he read the contract thoroughly. The amount of blood he had been drinking lately boosted his natural abilities but Azazel had rationed him to make sure he was weak when the cage was opened. The demon had thought of it all and planned it out to the letter the Winchester just hoped the deal was binding. "I made a deal that if I killed all the special children and accepted Lucifer then they would all come back. I knew that I was the only one to kill them and he was going to kill you." He shook his head. "I couldn't let your father lose us both. You are a special child. If you die here tonight by my hand Azazel has to bring you back." Would the explanation help to clear the air and prove to Ben he did this and was planning on killing him too or would it just prove that he still cared about his family. In truth the Winchester just wanted to terrify his nephew so he would run and escape the way he had showed the others. It was only a matter of time before Lucifer's cage was opened and he would be gone again, so he hoped Ben would escape and not make him do this. Either way Sam just hoped that Ben would tell Dean that he was gone for good. The last thing he wanted was for Dean to look for him or try to save him when Lucifer took over. "I had to do it Ben but the best bit was I enjoyed it." There was truth to the elder Winchester's words no matter how much either of them protested. Sam had to stay strong to get his family to abandon him now in his time of need more than ever. He couldn't have them getting hurt or killed trying to save him, what good would that do? He was already gone no matter what now they just needed to accept it. Sam was managing to stay focused on the anger and hurt he had received when Ben used the word 'dad' but when he said 'Dean' it was a different matter. "And that is what is going to get you killed. If I was trying to push you away I would. This is me sparing your life so you can tell your father what really happened here tonight." He scoffed his eyes going back to normal when Dean's name was mentioned. "We both know he is going to be in denial about what happened here tonight but when Azazel brings you back, you can tell him the truth of how the Devil came to rise again." He wished Ben would just stop talking. The adrenaline was disappearing and starting to turn into fear but he couldn't let it show not now. There was a way Sam could make him stop but he didn't want to use his powers on Ben, he never had. Sam just wanted him to turn and run, the last abandonment to prove he was truly alone. He wanted Ben to just give up on him and leave. Why would he not just save himself and run? What else could Sam do to make him tuck tail and run? Even threatening to kill him wasn't making him leave, Sam didn't know what else he could do? The last person he had expected to see was his brother in Hell. Sam hadn't thought of a way to prepare himself for seeing Dean. The hunter hadn't even expected to see the special children either he had expected it to just be Azazel, Lucifer and Lilith and low and behold it was yet another trap for him to slaughter the children and let Lucifer free. Sam had planned to close the cage for ever but instead killed a handful of teenagers and then surprised by his brother. Before the power overtook him he had sent a text to Dean but still didn't expect for him to appear. "Dea-" Before Sam could even finish his brothers name Claire shouted pushing him back and taking him off balance. Sam knew what was coming. The cage was just behind him and he had been sent backwards by the waves emitting from Claire. Sam tried to regain his balance by placing a hand behind him to steady himself on anything. The only thing behind him was the cage. As Sam's hand made contact with the cage he was transported inside. "Shit." The sight of his brother after a month of avoiding him had knocked some sense into him as well as the surprise of the whole evening. It had started off as walking around town on a hunt to being whisked downstairs by Lilith unprepared to then find the children opening the cage to having to kill them all to save his brother the heartache of losing most of his family. Now, Dean actually arrived and it was a lot of swapping and changing. The hunter hadn't had time to process one thing to the next and now he was in the cage with Lucifer with nothing but his archangel blade and none of the other toys he had planned to stop him. Sam quickly turned to face the outside of the cage. "Dean, tell Jess I'm sorry. I didn't mean it to end this way. I - ." Before he could go on to apologise to Dean or Ben he heard a voice behind him. A voice he would never forget. The voice still haunted him in his dreams. He turned around to see Lucifer. Sam looked around to see where the entrance was or how to escape but from the inside he couldn't see a way out. He didn't know if the door was still visible from the outside but it explained why Lucifer hadn't just walked out from this side there was only one way out: saying 'yes'. When inside the cage the only way out was for archangel and human to work together.

Even now Ben wasn’t sure how a quiet day in with Claire eating junk food and watching movies had turned into this but he knew that he just had to keep Sam talking for a bit longer. His message to his dad had sent and he’d received a couple of replies since then so he knew that he was on his way which meant that Ben just had to stay alive and keep Sam distracted long enough to stop him from saying yes to Lucifer before his dad got there. How his dad was going to get to hell Ben really wasn’t sure but the guy had always been resourceful so Ben knew that he would find a way. If he was honest a part of him wondered whether it would have always come down to this. He liked to think that if things had happened differently then Sam might have never made the deal that he had and the other Special Children might have lived but Ben knew that thinking like that wasn’t going to help now and he had a feeling that it probably wouldn’t have made a difference anyway. Sam was Lucifer’s true vessel and Ben knew that his uncle had been worried for a while that it would have to be one of them that played host to the archangel but the teenager had still hoped that there would be another way. As it was the cage was open and Sam was standing between him and it. Momentarily Ben thought about trying to make it around Sam and take his uncle’s place as Lucifer’s vessel but he knew that there had to be a way in which both of them were able to get out of there alive so he knew better than to do anything drastic just yet, not to mention he was finding it difficult enough to stay upright after losing as much blood as he had done from the wounds that Azazel had inflicted so he knew that he just had to play for time. “He nearly killed me anyway and now he’s going to make you finish the job. He’s a coward but you’re not Sam. I know you’re doing this to protect me and save me from having to become Lucifer’s vessel but there has to be another way. You don’t have to do this,” he insisted as he looked over at his uncle, hoping that something he was saying would get through to him. As Sam said that if he died at his hand then Azazel would have to bring them all back, a humourless laugh escaped Ben’s lips. “Look around us Sam, Azazel left as soon as the cage was opened. If he intended on bringing me and the others back then he would still be here. He doesn’t care about any of us and he doesn’t care about you, he never has. We’re all just pawns to him, we’re disposable and he doesn’t have any intention of upholding his end of the deal. You should know that better than anyone, there’s always a loophole,” he said, feeling anger start to rise within him at his uncle’s naivety. Ben knew that it was meant to be the other way around, he was the teenager while Sam was the adult and yet Sam seemed so willing to accept that a demon who was known for double crossing would actually follow through with what he had said. Ben was about to say something else when Sam’s next words stopped him short. “You don’t mean that,” he breathed even though he could hear the truth of it in his uncle’s words. “This isn’t you, Sam,” he protested, knowing that he had to give it one more shot. “You’re sparing my life by killing me so that Azazel can bring me back? Can’t you hear how twisted that is?” he demanded, slowly starting to wonder where there was any way that he could get through to his uncle now. Thankfully he didn’t have to hold out for much longer as his dad chose that moment to show up with Claire and Henrik in toe. Ben could see that Henrik was ready to unleash a spell but it was Claire who reacted first and her scream knocked Sam backwards into the cage. “No!” he exclaimed, knowing in that moment that one of his worst fears had come to light. “I’m so sorry dad, I tried to talk him down,” he said even though he wasn’t entirely sure that his dad would be listening to him right now anyway. Before he knew it Claire was reaching out for him and before he could say anything he was pulling him down to her and kissing him. In that moment it didn’t matter that he was in pain or shaky on his feet, all he could focus on was kissing Claire back knowing that the fact that she had actually kissed him would probably only sink in later when they were alone. “I will be. I can see Henrik is itching to come over here and heal me,” he nodded before flashing the warlock a smile only for it to fall as he took in the sight around them once again. “I tried to get them all out but I couldn’t subdue Azazel for long enough. We nearly got to the door before he pulled us all back and he did this before knocking me out,” he explained, indicating the slashes that riddled his body as he looked back at the people he loved. Thankfully the cuts had stopped bleeding now at least but he knew that Azazel has used his blood to help open the cage so he still felt like he had failed. @deanwinchester

The next minute or so lasted like hours, as it seemed to happen all in slow motion for Dean. He wanted to run and try and save his brother who he hoped was buried somewhere within this shell of a monster that was going to kill Ben. The other half of Dean was torn to run to his son and make sure he was fine and protect him from whatever hell was going to rise up. As everything seemed to process and settle into Dean’s brain, he knew that if Sam was already trying to kill Ben it was too late to save him. As this thought and revelation crossed Dean he turned to head to Ben. It appeared that Claire definitely beat him to Ben and was making sure he was ok but now it was Dean’s turn to protect them both no matter what.
It was the first time that Dean turned his back on his brother and started to run towards his son, Ben. The sharp pain of tears that cut through Dean’s eyes was like a razor that left a burn deep in his soul. This felt like the last straw of Dean’s hope breaking and it was ripping him into two. A couple of tears managed to scrap outside of his eyes before he realized Claire was no longer headed towards Ben. The next few moments all felt like it was in slow motion and took hours instead of milliseconds.
Claire had stopped and focused her attention on Sam and something strange happened as a force of energy was flung from Claire towards Sam, which knocked him off balance. Although Dean had made his decision to go get his son first the sight of whatever energy hit Sam altered his course of action. Even when Dean felt there was no hope he had left managed to find a shred because now he was on the course to try and save Sam from falling. “SAMMY!” Dean cried just as Ben was trying to tell him he’d tried to get to Sam first before this. The burn inside Dean’s upper thighs to the calves intensified as he tried to reach Sam as he was falling backward into what Dean assumed was the cage.
He dove the last few feet and stretched his arm out to grab Sam’s but all he felt was the air friction between their hands as they missed catching one another. The moment that Sam said “Shit.” Dean knew his brother was still there. “SAMMYYY!?!” The scream of Sam’s name came from deep within Dean’s gut as he had just missed catching Sam’s hand. Dean’s eyes were able to adjust to see Sam in the cage with Lucifer and Michael. It was the instant that he knew Sam wasn’t going to make it by just saying ‘no’ repeatedly. Sam just like Dean had a breaking point that each other knew they both had at some extent.
The ground at that point began to shudder and jerk and threw Dean back against a cluster of rocks near the edge. He could hear Sam yelling to himself as he groaned through his pain. ‘Tell Jess…’ after those few words from Sam an eerie silence fell and one that made Dean’s blood coil in fear. Was Sam already completely gone? ‘No I’m not letting go now!’ Dean strained himself still reaching over the edge for his brother. “SAM?! Don’t you let go!” Dean shouted hoping Sam could hear him at least. Time was ticking by and the urgency to get back to Earth was starting to weigh on Dean's shoulders. Should he refuse to leave and tell Henrik to take the others home? Yet the guilt tugged at his heart knowing he couldn't say no to Ben and make Ben lose not only his uncle but his father as well.
Dean grit his teeth as he forced himself to slowly get back to a standing position. He wobbled and yet stayed on his feet as he slowly brushed the dirt off his jacket. The first sensation he noticed was that he was numb and felt hardly anything. It was as if Dean was in a state of shock. Lifting his head up he turned left to right to look for where Henrik, Ben, and Claire were.
Carry on my Wayward Son you're the lucky ones. cause most of us are heaving through corrupted lungs.

Sam Winchester:
The shred of old Sammy was relieved but hurt that Dean went to Ben. It meant that he had given up on his brother, which is what he wanted as it said Dean wouldn't do anything stupid to save him. For a brief second with force from Claire as well as hearing his brother's cry brought the old Sam to the surface, that was when he realized he was going to end up in the cage. The hunter's worst fear was ending up back in there for a second time, even a second in that cage would be too long for the Winchester, but he was going back. There was no stopping it now. As he saw Dean's hand outstretch, Sam, copied. The hunter would take all of the years of Winchester Drama rolled into one over the cage. He would even take ten years of detox overseeing Lucifer again, but the choice was made from him yet again. Sam had a flutter of hope as he reached for his brother, only for the carpet to be ripped from under him. He wasn't close enough. The hope of being saved by Dean was shattered by a few milliseconds. The younger hunter went to grab for his brother's hand only to feel the cold metal of the bars of his new home. Sam turned around at the other voice. He knew there was no option left now. He couldn't escape the cage -like last time. Cas was low on power, and he didn't want to go back, not at the price of his soul. There would be no option of a wall like last time, so nothing would keep the Hell that was inside him at bay. The colour drained from the Winchester's face as he had become face to face with Lucifer again. This was obvious that this wasn't a bad dream or illusion. Sam was in the Cage.Sam could see the remains of Adam and Micheal behind Lucifer. It was as if they were trophies or a representation of Lucifer's work while Sam was absent. This wasn't like the last time Adam and Micheal were just husks, and Sam had thought it was terrible before, but this was worse Lucifer had got creative. "Sammy, you've come back," Lucifer held his arms wide to gesture to the cage. "You miss me? We missed you." Sam backed up in fear. He moved back as far as he could until the metal hit his back. There was nowhere to go. "There's nowhere to go." It was as if Lucifer could read his mind. "Look around, settle in, and pick a bunk... You could just make it easy for both of us and say 'yes' now, or we could have some fun first." Sam shook his head. A tear rolled down his cheek, "No, no, no. This isn't happening."
Lucifer laughed. "Oh please. We both know THIS is the truth. Look what you did to those teenagers to get here." Lucifer forced each face of the Special Child victims to show as they took their last breath, or lack of. "You readied yourself for me. You lubed up and now are playing hard to get? Come on, Sam! Say yes. Let me in." The human grabbed a hold of the bars behind him as the teenagers flashed before his eyes. "I won't say yes."Lucifer advanced upon Sam as he couldn't see him approaching. "Dean can't save you now. He may be in Hell, but He can't get in here and come to your rescue. You're on your own." Sam felt a hand grip his throat. "Just three letters. Come on, Sammy." The hunter tried to shake his head, but the grasp was too firm. "It's... Sam." "If you die, you know you'll just come back. I'll do with you what I want until your soul surfaces again." Lucifer raised Sam up on the bars. "Azazel knows you'll be in here." A grin spread upon the devil's face. "He doesn't need anyone out there." He pointed to where Dean and Ben were possibly still. "Any second now demons will storm that room and slaughter anything left alive. Old Yellow Eyes got what he wanted, and the rest will go bye-bye. So..." He raised his arms to his sides. "say the magic word, and I will let them live as leverage or..." Lucifer sat down on a deck chair that he pulled from thin air. "Your brother and company get ripped to shreds, and I'll have one last show, thanks to you."The hunter fell to the floor as he was released. He couldn't be the reason his family was ripped to shreds. Sam turned around to see if he could see Dean to beg him to leave but what he saw terrified him. He saw demons advancing upon his family. The people he had sacrificed himself for were being ripped to pieces by black-eyed monsters. "NO! Stop it. Lucifer stop them." He turned back to see the devil smirking.
"oops. Too late. I still get my fun, and you have nothing left.""Save them, please. Bring them back" Sam begged, hoping that Lucifer would do something."You know what to do, Sam."Sam had lost hope. Dean could save him this time. He had held hope that Dean would pull him away from the edge one last time before it even got this far, but he couldn't. Sam was alone. "If I say it, you'll bring them back? Please, please." Lucifer nodded. The hunter closed his eyes. "Yes."The next thing would haunt Sam forever. He could hear Lucifer laughing hysterically. "The Winchesters will always fall for it. No wonder Azazel was able to tug your chain for years behind the scenes." Sam opened his eyes."What?" "Turn around take a look." Sam turned around, and Lucifer removed the false picture. "They were alive all along. A little movie and you fell for it. They are fine." Sam shook his head. "No." He had been deflated. Hope had left him. Dean wasn't in danger, and he walked right into it. It was as if he asked for it. He gave up too quickly. As Sam finished the word, Lucifer appeared in front of him and placed a hand upon the human's shoulder."You're mine now, Sammy. Enjoy the ride. I will." And with that, Sam and Lucifer were one. Lucifer won. Light flooded from the cage as Lucifer took control of his true vessel.

| Claire didn’t logically know how she was able to know where she was going. Instinctively she just knew, the voices whispering in her head getting louder. As she followed the voice it seemed to get louder as she ran. When she arrived at the chamber, flames leaping from the ground that surrounded the bars of Lucifer’s Cage. She seen Sam, blade in hand advancing on Ben… a look in his eyes that she had never seen before. Knowing neither of them could make it over there in time to save him she ended up screaming. With her scream something happened that had never happened before. A pulse of energy emitted from her and her focus was getting Sam away from Ben, the scream also quelled the voices which were whispering inside her head. She might have felt differently any other day about knocking Sam backward. She knew before even coming down here that she wasn’t here to save Sam… because she had already seen what he would do here. So, she was here to save Ben… and hopefully get here in time to save the other kids. It seemed she was too late to get here for the other kids, but she had managed to save the one she cared about the most. She ran up to him to make sure he was alright. Hurt in some places but he was alive. That relief swept over her as she leaned up and pulled him down to her and kissed him. She realised she didn’t actually wait for him to reply that he was ok. Though when he kissed her back, she figured he was fine after all. She was just glad that he was ok… They pulled away from each other moments later and she heard Ben say about Henrik coming over to heal him. Claire flicked a look behind her at the warlock, who at the moment was combing through the bodies trying to find a few survivors of this tragedy. She knew without even checking they were all dead and unmoving. Ben seemed to take it in as well for the first time. Claire looked at him and shook her head, ” This isn’t your fault Ben…” Claire insisted. Even though he deserved all he got after what he had done here Lucifer getting out of the cage just wasn’t an option. She went to go and help Dean though the closer she got to the cage flames leapt up to meet her blocking her path as she raised her hand to cover her face as they leapt up. She wasn’t burned but could feel the heat as she watched Sam fall into the cage red eyes gleaming from within, which could only be the archangel Lucifer. She could hear Sam’s voice from within the cage, almost deliberately echoed so they could hear everything. Sam being deliberately tricked into saying yes… so the devil could bring them back. Claire hoped that he wouldn’t fall for it. The devil only looked out for himself and did things to get what he wanted, ” Don’t fall for it Sam…” Claire hoped out loud. Though moments later a brilliant white light and the high pitch filled their ears. An angel taking over a new vessel… and the devil was free. She lifted her hand to her forehead and now that things were calming down, she could feel the pain from where her head had hit the bed post. Wiping away a little blood, feeling her head hurt from more than just the cut, she turned back to the others, ” We need to get out of here.” Claire announced everyone. Though she wasn’t entirely sure what to do with all the bodies of the special children, waiting to see if anyone else had any ideas. BEN WINCHESTER, @deanwinchester, SAM WINCHESTER

Henrik had known that something bad was going to happen the moment that Dean had shown up on his doorstep. He knew that the hunter wouldn’t have reached out unless he was desperate and the moment he had learned that Ben was in trouble he had known that there was no way he was going to let the man go alone. He had met the family when Dean had made a deal with Crowley to bring Ben back to life after he died during a hunt and Ben had been a good friend to him since then. It had helped having a hunter’s perspective at times and he had helped Ben a few times in return. He hadn’t met Claire before but he had still known who she was straight away and considering how worried she was about Ben he wouldn’t be surprised if the two of them were more than friends but he knew that it wasn’t his place to say anything. Instead he had directed Dean and Claire to the gate to Hell that he was used to using. It was a few hours outside of Mystic Falls but the demons seemed to have abandoned that particular gate a long time ago so he had known that they would be able to slip into Hell unnoticed. Navigating through the levels down towards the cage was easier said than done and Henrik had to use his magic to cloak them to avoid detection from the demons that were lurking but eventually they made it just in time to see Sam trying to kill Ben. Henrik had been about to unleash a spell when Claire had screamed and the force of it pushed her backwards and Henrik looked at her in surprise for a moment. Ben hadn’t said anything about her being a banshee but Henrik had come across a few of them before and he knew that that was what she was. There was something about her though, something that didn’t quite feel right, but what it was he couldn’t quite put his finger on. It was clear to the warlock that there wasn’t anything that he could do for Sam so he left Ben and Claire to their private moment while he surveyed the bodies around them. So many teenagers had lost their lives that day but in the back of his mind he was already working on a plan to bring them all back. It wasn’t their time to die, of that he was certain, so he knew that he would find a way. How he was going to do that he wasn’t too sure just yet but he knew that Lukas would help him if he asked so he at least had his friend that he could count on. Looking over at Ben as he said that he was waiting to heal him, Henrik couldn’t stop a smile from working its way across his face. “You got that right,” he nodded, stepping closer to Ben as Claire moved in the direction of the cage. “Claire is right, this isn’t your fault. You did what you could,” he said, placing a hand on his friend’s shoulder. “I’m going to find a way to bring them all back, you have my word,” he added, not wanting Ben to worry any more than he probably was right now. There were more people here who needed his help than he was used to so he knew better than to push himself to his limits and pay the ultimate price for using too much magic but there were other ways, it was just a case of finding the right one. “Hold still so I can heal you,” he said, waiting for Ben to do so before using his magic to heal the boy’s wounds and give him back some of the strength that he had lost after losing so much blood. “Feel better?” he asked before nodding as the boy confirmed that he was. The flash of white light and noise that came from the cage was enough to make Henrik whirl around. He knew what it meant, Sam had said yes to Lucifer so the devil really was free once more. “We’d better get out of here. We’ll take half of the kids in each car and I’ll cloak them so we won’t draw attention to ourselves. We’ll get them to the Boarding House, Stefan and the others will be able to help there. I’ll call Elena on the way,” he said decisively, knowing that she would want to know what had happened to Jeremy. Once the others were ready they loaded the bodies of the fallen teenagers in the cars and headed back to Mystic Falls.

Ben knew deep down that there wasn’t anything that he could have done to make this end any differently, Azazel had had a plan right from the start and he had known exactly what he was doing. He had tried to get all of them to use their powers to weaken the cage and when it had become clear that those powers weren’t enough to break open the cage completely it had been too easy for him to kill all of them to make it happen. Ben didn’t doubt that had it not been for the fact that Azazel wanted to give him the chance to survive so that he could tell Dean exactly what had happened that his life would have been taken too but as it was the blood that had flowed from the lacerations Azazel had caused across his body had been directed towards the cage and had mixed with the blood of the others to free Lucifer. Sam had almost finished the job by taking his life but Claire had saved him although he wasn’t quite sure how. He knew her better than most, she wasn’t a banshee but the scream that had pushed Sam back could only be made by one. It didn’t make any sense but he had been hearing about other strange things happening around the town so he could only assume that Claire had been taken by those same people. He still didn’t know who was responsible for taking those people but he had been helping Stefan and Scott look into it and now he was more motivated to find out who was behind it than ever. “I should have been able to do more,” he sighed as Claire and Henrik both said that it wasn’t his fault. He knew that they were right, after all he had tried to get the others out of there, but that still didn’t make him feel any less guilty that out of all of the Special Children that had been gathered there he was the only one left alive. “How did you push Sam away from me? Has anything like that happened before?” he asked even though he was pretty sure that Claire would have told him if it had. Hearing his dad calling to Sam was enough to break Ben’s heart and he wanted to go to him and tell him that it was going to be ok but he forced himself to stay still so that Henrik could heal him. As soon as that was done and his friend asked if he was feeling better, Ben nodded. “Much, thanks,” he admitted before making his way over to his dad as he turned to face him. Closing the distance between them, Ben wrapped his arms around his dad and hugged him tightly. Sam had said yes to becoming Lucifer’s vessel but that didn’t mean that they were going to give up on him. “We’ll get him back, I promise,” Ben assured him before turning to the others and nodding as Henrik suggested they get the others to the Boarding House. “Sounds like a plan, let’s do it,” he nodded before working with the others to get all of the other teenagers out to the cars so that they could head home.
