** set after raziel's defeat. I know what it's like to think of yourself as a monster
MG helped one last person back into the safety of the school where the witches could take a look at them. He stumbled as he struggled for a moment to regain his footing, his body growing weaker as the werewolf venom traveled through his veins, weakening his body even more. But he soon regained his footing and continued helping in whatever way he could.
They were able to deal with Raziel, but the aftermath was still horrible. Once again, Raziel had managed to cause them a lot of pain for what felt like no reason other than them merely existing. MG snapped out of his thoughts when he heard the sound of someone groaning in pain. He rushed to her side, helping her get in a more comfortable position. “MG. I think it'd be best if you gave her some of your blood—” MG interrupted her almost right away. “No!” He soon realized just how harsh that must have sounded. “No, uh, it's a big risk right now. I'll get one of the witches to take a look at her as soon as possible. I promise.” The girl who had made the suggestion stared at him weirdly for a moment before she nodded her head and to make good on that promise, he began making his way to one of the available witches, letting her know about what was going on and she was gone in an instant to help in whatever way she could.
MG lowered his sleeve down his arm, fully hiding the bite mark despite the fact that he knew that it wasn't visible to begin with. MG wiped the sweat off his forehead before he continued moving. Hope was currently busy helping just like all the other witches and some of the people she was helping looked like they were in dire need of help, so MG couldn't find it in him to pull her away even as his condition worsened by each passing moment. “Does anyone smell that?” One of the students asked out loud, her werewolf senses picking up on the smell of werewolf venom and MG knew that it was time for him to distance himself from the scene before he could do more harm than good.
MG leaned against the railing for a moment when his vision got hazy. He was aware that there was no specific time for the effects of the werewolf bite to take place because it varied and he had no idea who the person was who had given him the bite. They'd been in their wolf form but from how vicious it was, they were experienced and hungry.
MG clenched his eyes shut before he opened them, finally finding the strength to keep going. There was one more person he needed to check up on.
Ethan.
MG tried to look put together as much as possible to not let suspicions or worry rise. “E?” MG called out as he checked his surroundings for the other.

Ethan hadn’t known about Raziel or the threat he posed when he became a part of the supernatural world but the truth was that Ethan was still glad that he was able to be there to fight alongside his friends, to fight alongside MG. The war might be over but a lot of people had ended up getting hurt and now they were dealing with the fallout. Ethan knew he was lucky, any wounds he’d sustained had already healed by now and he knew that the same was true of a lot of his friends but there were others who were involved who weren’t that lucky. The witches and warlocks that had fought alongside them didn’t have the accelerated healing that he and the other vampires did and there were other species that didn’t heal quite as quickly either. As far as Ethan was aware no one on their side had died during the fight but he knew that he could be wrong about that and they would only know for sure once the chaos settled down. Some of the other students were in bad shape and Ethan couldn’t deny that he was worried about them. Most people tended to dismiss jocks as being dumb but he had fought alongside them and now he was doing his best to help out as much as he could. Ethan was still relatively new to the whole being a vampire thing so he was still learning but a couple of boys asked him to give one of the witches some of his blood. He was a little hesitant since he couldn’t tell just how bad the girl’s wounds were but they were sure that it would be fine so he did as they asked, knowing that he just had to hope it would work. Carrying her into the school, Ethan set her down with the other students who were healing and headed back out again as the boys promised to watch over her. He had seen some of his friends and he knew that they were okay but one person he hadn’t seen was MG and that worried him. He had lost sight of his best friend during the chaos of the battle and he hadn’t seen him since. Everywhere he went Ethan had found himself searching the faces of those around him hoping that one of them would be MG but so far there was no sign of him. Ethan knew that he would never forgive himself if something happened to MG, the guy had done nothing but look out for him ever since he became a vampire and even before that MG had done his best to protect him. Ethan wasn’t sure what he would do if anything happened to MG, he wasn’t sure that he could put into words just how much MG meant to him and not seeing him anywhere scared him. Finally he heard someone calling out to him and he was relieved to see that it was MG, not hesitating in racing over to him. “Hey MG,” he said as he pulled him into a tight hug, letting out a breath he hadn’t known he was holding until he was able to see that MG was still in one piece. That relief was short-lived, though, as he could see that something was wrong. “You don’t look so good, are you okay?”MILTON GREASLEY

** set after raziel's defeat. I know what it's like to think of yourself as a monster
MG let out a sigh of relief when his eyes relaxed on none other than Ethan who was close to him an instant and soon enough, he was wrapping his arms tightly around his best friend, feeling beyond relieved to see that his best friend was okay. The fight had been vicious as Raziel pulled out one dirty trick after the other and for a moment, he thought that they weren't going to be able to survive this one, but they had worked together and in the end, their power was enough to defeat Raziel because nothing was impossible for them when they worked together.
MG was glad to see that Ethan was unharmed physically — he wasn't so sure about how he was doing mentally because that fight must have been taxing on him and dealing with the aftermath of it can't be easy, either. MG almost laughed at how quickly Ethan seemed to realize that something was off about him. He can hide it from everyone — except for Ethan, it seemed.
MG leaned back from the hug, his lips stretching into a small smile. “I'm okay. Just tired, s'all.” MG replied with ease, his eyes relaxing on his best friend. “You were amazing out there, y'know that?” MG said as he placed his hand on Ethan's shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. “I couldn't be prouder of you, man.” MG had been worried about Ethan at first, but then that worry eased when he saw how capable Ethan was. “How are you feeling, E?”

Ethan would be lying if he said that he hadn’t worried when he had lost sight of MG during the battle, his friend had been there for him through everything and Ethan had wanted to have his back but the fight was pure chaos and it was all that any of them had been able to do to stay alive. He had looked for MG afterwards but hadn’t seen him and that had worried Ethan even more than he was sure that he would ever be able to put into words. MG meant so much to him and the truth was that Ethan really didn’t know what he would do if anything happened to him. Hugging him tightly, Ethan felt a smile touch his lips as MG hugged him back. They had both made it through the battle and now Ethan honestly hoped that things would be able to get back to normal, or at least as normal as they could at a school for the supernatural, anyway. It was clear to Ethan straight away that there was something up with MG, though, and Ethan frowned as MG said that he was just tired. “Are you sure that’s it?” he asked, not entirely convinced that there wasn’t something more going on. “I don’t know about that, I had no idea what I was doing half the time,” Ethan chuckled as MG said that he was amazing out there. “Thanks,” he said sincerely as MG said he couldn’t be prouder of him. “I lost you in all the chaos, did everything go okay? You didn’t get hurt, did you?” Ethan asked, remembering what he had heard about the first encounter with Raziel where MG’s neck had been snapped. “I feel good but that’s probably the adrenaline. Is it always like this here?” he asked, unable to deny that he was curious. “I saw most of the others afterwards, they seemed to be okay,” he added, not sure whether MG had seen any of them himself yet or not. ** set after raziel's defeat. I know what it's like to think of yourself as a monster
MG could feel his hand begin to tremble but instead of letting the thought consume him, he clenched his fingers into a fist to suppress the trembling and nodded his head at Ethan's question, his lips stretching into a faint smile. “Positive.” He replied after a moment, glad to hear that his voice didn't betray him. He let out a chuckle at Ethan's words when he told him that he had no idea what he was doing half the time. “Definitely didn't give off that impression. I dunno what you're talkin' about. It was like you were a battle warrior.” MG said with the same grin resting on his lips. “Just saying the truth, E.” Anyone else would have run for the hills, but not Ethan. He fought and he fought hard.
MG's smile faltered and the bite mark throbbed. A harsh reminder that he doesn't have long especially since he doubted that this was the only mark on his body with how quickly he was getting affected. He didn't have the time to check for himself, but there was one thing that he knew for certain. He really didn't have much time left and with Hope doing her part in damage control, he can't just pull her away, not when the others needed her if not more than him. “No— No, uh, I'm good. I guess there was a lot happening and we just lost each other.”
MG nodded his head slowly at Ethan's words. “You mean hectic and on the verge of being destroyed for good? Um, not always. B—But there are a lot of bad people out there and in a school full of supernatural students, it's only a matter of time before we find ourselves facing a whole new danger.” MG didn't want to give Ethan any false promises that they were going to be completely safe because that was just far from the truth. They can have a good couple of months but something will always happen, one way or the other.
“Really? That's—” MG paused as his eyes relaxed on something over Ethan's shoulder but he quickly looked away, blinking a few times to try and get the image of his father out. He'd read that hallucinations were one of the symptoms and right now he really wasn't in the mood to hallucinate his father out of all people.
“That's good, E. Damn, we, uh, faced an angel head-on and survived to tell the tale.” There was a proud smile tugging at the corner of his lips as he said that. He was definitely proud of them for holding out and even managing to defeat that psychotic angel. “I'm gonna brag about that for months.” There was a hint of sadness in his voice because he knew that there was a possibility that he wasn't going to be able to survive the night, but if he did, he does deserve quite a lot of bragging rights, doesn't he? “You should feed soon, s'been one hell of a day.” MG suggested, his attention still fixed solely on Ethan.

Ethan wanted so badly to believe MG when he said that he was positive he was fine but he just couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something wrong. He couldn’t put his finger on it but something just felt off. He knew that it was perhaps just that he was still on edge after the battle though and he knew that he needed to put that aside for now and just focus on what they could do now. “I guess all those hours playing video games paid off, huh?” he chuckled. He knew that hadn’t even come close, it was all the training he had done with MG and the others that had made all the difference. “I won’t lie, it felt good to be a part of a team again. I’ve missed it. It might not be football but being able to go into battle alongside you guys felt right,” Ethan admitted. “Thank you for helping me train.” The battle had been awful, that was for sure, but Ethan was still sure that he wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else. He would have hated being left out of the fight so he was glad that he’d had the chance to be there with him. Ethan was scared of dying again but he knew that he wouldn’t have been able to forgive himself if he had let them do this without him. “That’s good. I hate the thought of anything bad happening to you,” Ethan admitted before he could stop himself. Even as he said those words out loud he realised that he wasn’t sure whether he meant them as just MG’s friend. They’d had a connection from the day they met and MG had been there for him through so much. They had grown a lot closer since Ethan became a vampire since MG didn’t have to worry about keeping the supernatural world a secret from him any longer and Ethan finally felt like he’d found where he belonged. Everyone at the school meant so much to him and even though Ethan was still trying to get his head around being a vampire and get to grips with everything that meant, he knew there wasn’t anywhere else he would rather be. He wasn’t so sure he saw MG as just a friend anymore but there really hadn’t been time to figure all of that out properly and now he hoped he might get that chance. “That’s good,” Ethan chuckled as MG said it wasn’t always like this before nodding as he went on to say it was only a matter of time before they found themselves facing a new danger. “That’s fine. After what we’ve faced today, I’m pretty sure we can face anything together,” he said gently. He had known that MG and the others were incredible from the moment he saw how they were together. He knew they had all been worried about facing off against Raziel but they had managed it and he was certain that whatever else came their way they would deal with it just the same. Ethan’s expression turned to one of confusion as MG started to speak but then stopped short. “What is it, MG?” he asked, looking over his shoulder in the direction that MG was looking only to find that no one was there. Turning back to look at him, he was surprised when MG carried on what he had been about to say. “Of course you will,” he said, a fond smile forming on his face as he looked over at MG only for it to fall slightly as he realised that MG almost sounded sad about something. “You’re right but MG, you’re scaring me now. What’s going on?” he asked, his eyes locked on MG’s as he spoke. He knew MG was right, he was going to need to feed but right now he was too focused on MG and whatever it was going on with him. MG let out a chuckle at Ethan's words before nodding his head in agreement about his statement regarding video games and them playing together for what felt like hours. “It was good to have you with us, E.” MG said with visible gentleness in the tone of his voice as he spoke. “It's my pleasure.” It was also the least that he could do, considering the fact that he had been the one to turn Ethan.
MG felt like he could hide the truth from anyone except Ethan. They had spent so much time together that it would just be too obvious if anything seemed out of the ordinary with him and it seemed like Ethan was starting to get the sense that there something off with him and he wasn't sure for how long he can hide the truth from him. He was right about them being able to face anything together, though. Nothing seemed impossible if they had each other.
Ethan seemed to notice that brief moment where he got distracted by his father — or the hallucination of him — and he quickly smiled and shook his head. “It's nothing.” He assured him in a soft voice but as more and more symptoms presented themselves, he wasn't sure for how long he can act like nothing was wrong with him.
“It's—” MG struggled for a moment to get the words out as his mouth ran dry. “It's really hard to hide something from you, y'know that?” MG let out a laugh that sounded humorless even to his own ears. “Don't freak out but I didn't come out of the fight completely unscathed.” MG whispered, finally unclenching his fist as he moved his other hand to roll up the sleeve of his shirt which revealed the ugly bite mark left behind on his flesh. “The worst part is I don't think this is the only one.” Truth was, he had no idea how he was even still standing. Maybe it was all the adrenaline, maybe it was just his inability to admit when he was in pain because he hated making others worry about him. “I don't—” MG let out a shaky exhale. “I don't know how long I've got, E.”

"There's nowhere else I would rather be," Ethan assured him. There was no way he would have been able to bring himself to sit out of the fight, Ethan had known that any of them could die during the battle and that had scared him because he didn't even want to think what it would have done to his mom and sister if he had died again. The first time he had come back as a vampire but there were some deaths you couldn't come back from and he hadn't wanted any of them to end up in that position. "Seriously man, I owe you. You saved my life twice." The first time was when MG gave him his blood and turned him into a vampire in the first place and the second was through the training for the battle. Ethan knew he wouldn't have made it through the battle without MG and if he was honest he didn't want to think about what life without him would be like. MG had been a constant in his life ever since they met and somewhere along the line something had shifted for Ethan but he really wasn't sure whether MG felt the same and with everything they'd had weighing down on them he hadn't really had time to come to terms with what that meant. Now he couldn't think about it too much either, though, because he was too worried about MG. It was clear the guy was trying to hide something from him and for MG to try doing that again after promising that things would be different after Ethan became a vampire was enough to put him on edge to say the least. "It's not nothing, MG. Something is going in with you," Ethan countered. That much was clear to him at least, he just didn't know what it was. As MG finally seemed to give in slightly and said it was hard to hide something from him, Ethan couldn't help but laugh. "Personally I think that's a good thing," he chuckled. He knew that MG had kept the truth about the supernatural world from him before to try and protect him but Ethan didn't want there to be anymore secrets between them, especially not now they had finally stopped Raziel and they had the chance to live normal lives for a while, at least until the next threat came along. As MG said he didn't make it through the battle completely unscathed, Ethan felt his heart sink and his eyes went wide as MG rolled up his sleeve to show a nasty looking bite mark that only seemed to be spreading. "No," he breathed, his hand flying to his mouth as he tried to wrap his head around what it all meant. "Don't say that MG," he said fiercely as MG said he didn't know how long he had. "There's must be something we can do, I'll do anything," he said, the words sounding desperate even to his own ears and his eyes shining with tears he quickly tried to blink away. He wouldn't lose MG, he couldn't. "Tell me what to do, please."MILTON GREASLEY

** set after raziel's defeat. I know what it's like to think of yourself as a monster
MG's expression softened at Ethan's words because all that violence and blood should've been enough to push someone away but instead, it seemed to push Ethan to stay. He was so grateful to hear that because he despised the mere thought of ever losing Ethan. He never wanted to say goodbye to him. Not now, not ever. He became such an important part of his life and MG just couldn't imagine his life without him. "You saved mine, too. By being here." MG admitted in a soft voice. He gave him a purpose. His determination to train him, to see him in the morning, to spend time with him. He had saved MG just the same.
"Trust me, it is a good thing. But not when it comes to something like this. I didn't want you to worry about me." But, he knew that it was time for him to tell Ethan the truth or he will never let the matter go because he knew just how stubborn Ethan was and MG wasn't exactly a good liar, especially when it came to something like this where it was near impossible to hide the truth.
MG could feel his heart break at Ethan's reaction to the truth. "Breathe, E. Don't cry. Please.' MG instructed because he could tell just how worried Ethan was that he had no doubt that the other had forgotten to breathe due to how worried he was. "For starters, you could get me to a bed. I don't think I can stand for much longer." MG tried his best to keep his voice calm and steady so as to not upset Ethan further by showing him just how bad it was.
"I'll be okay, E. We just have to get Hope when she's free." He couldn't hear her downstairs anymore which was enough to make him worry but he was determined to not ask her for help now, not when she was doing her best to save as many people as possible all while doing damage control. "I know it's way too selfish of me to ask something like this, but could you stay with me? Just—" MG trailed off, gulping past the dryness of his throat. "Just in case we don't get Hope in time. I have a few things I wanna, um..." MG closed his eyes when the hallucinations started again. "Talk to you about." MG concluded, releasing a shaky exhale before he opened his eyes to look at Ethan again. "Is that okay?" Seeing him like this can't be easy and he'd hate to lose the battle against the venom right in front of Ethan, but it was a risk he was willing to take because he had so much he wanted to talk to Ethan about.

Ethan was used to fighting it out on the football field but this time he had literally been fighting not just for his life but for that of everyone out there who was supernatural. He knew that he could have buckled under the pressure and run away but that just wasn’t him. Instead he had stayed so he could fight alongside MG and the others and even now Ethan still believed that he had made the right decision. He never would have been able to forgive himself if he had let them go into the battle without him and something had happened to one of them, he had lost sight of MG during the fight but MG was here now and he knew that was all that mattered. “In that case I’d say we’re good for each other,” Ethan said, a gentle smile forming on his face as he looked over at MG. They looked out for each other and Ethan knew that wasn’t going to change. The idea of losing his mom and Maya to old age one day scared Ethan but it was a comfort to know that MG would be there and if Ethan was honest he really didn’t want to go back to a life without MG in it. He’d already had to do that when MG distanced himself from Ethan because of all this and Ethan knew that he didn’t want to go through that again. “It’s too late for that, I’m already worried about you,” Ethan admitted. He could tell that something was off with MG but he hadn’t known what. As MG finally came clean, Ethan felt his heart break in two. He couldn’t lose MG, it wasn’t fair. They had finally put a stop to Raziel and the supernatural world was safe from him at last so now they should have the chance to live normal lives for a while at least until the next threat came along. Ethan believed MG completely when he said that there would be a next threat but they should have the chance to face that together just like they had this one. Taking a deep breath as MG reminded him to do just that, Ethan hastily wiped his tears away. He couldn’t fall apart, not now. He needed to stay strong for MG and find some way to get him through this. It was too cruel that MG should make it through the battle with Raziel only to succumb to something like this now and Ethan knew that he would do everything he could in order to stop that from happening. He knew that the line between friendship and something more probably hadn’t become blurred for MG through all of this like it had for him but Ethan still knew that he couldn’t lose his best friend. “I can do that,” he nodded, moving so that he could wrap MG’s arm around his shoulders while Ethan’s arm wrapped around his friend. “Come on, my dorm isn’t that far away,” he said, knowing that it would be the easiest place for them to get to right now. “Hope? There’s something she can do?” Ethan asked, a little hope starting to build within him at the thought. “I’ll go find-” he began, his voice trailing off as MG asked if he could stay with him just in case they didn’t get Hope in time. “Don’t talk like that MG, you’re going to get through this,” he said fiercely as he pulled his phone out of his pocket and tried calling first Hope and then Josie on their way to his dorm room. Neither of them answered and Ethan let out a hiss as each of their voicemails kicked in. Leaving them a message, he clutched his phone tightly in his hand and almost threw it against the wall but he refrained in case he needed it later. “It’s not selfish of you but I need to find Hope,” he said as they continued moving in the direction of his dorm. He didn’t want to leave MG to go through this alone but at the same time he didn’t like the chances of either Hope or Josie getting a minute to find their phones and check their messages either. Meeting MG’s gaze, though, the look in his eyes was enough to make Ethan’s heart ache and he nodded. “I’ll stay with you. You don’t have to be alone,” Ethan said at last as he pushed the door open and helped MG down onto the bed before trying both of the girls again but to no avail. MILTON GREASLEY

** set after raziel's defeat. I know what it's like to think of yourself as a monster
MG felt a soft smile tug at the corner of his lips at Ethan's words before he nodded his head in agreement. "Yeah, I'd say we are." MG agreed, his voice coming out soft as he spoke. MG found it easy to click with others and he had a lot of good friends, but he'd never clicked with anyone the way that he had clicked with Ethan. What they had was special and MG cherished it so much that it was the only thing holding him back from actually expressing his feelings because he was worried that it would ruin their friendship. It was a risk, a huge one at that. But now, he was starting to realize that he was running out of time and if he doesn't say it now, then when will he? MG could definitely tell that Ethan was starting to get real worried and soon he realized that he's going to have to reveal the truth one way or the other and so he did. To say that Ethan's reaction was heartbreaking would be an understatement, truly. But he was grateful for Ethan for getting him to his dorm room, supporting him along the way. He winced as he wrapped his arm around Ethan, moving with him toward his dorm room, his body growing weaker with each step but he still kept on moving despite his body screaming at him to stop.
MG nodded his head a few times at Ethan's question. "Her blood." He clarified. "Just like her father's, it can cure werewolf bites." MG added a moment later, forcing each word out despite the pain that he was in. Talking to Ethan kept him distracted from the pain and right now, that was all he could ever hope for. "I know, E. But if I don't, it'll give me some peace of mind, at least. Please." MG had delayed it for long enough. It was time for him to stop running away - to stop hiding the truth. "I already left her a message. When she's got a moment, she'll come. We just have to believe that." MG assured him and he seemed to relax considerably when Ethan told him that he'll be staying with him. "Thank you." He breathed out, both because Ethan had chosen to stay and also because he'd helped him down on the bed.
MG leaned his back against the headboard of the bed, his eyes finding Ethan as he watched him try to call one of the girls again only to be met with the same voicemail. "Ethan," MG didn't always use Ethan's full name, always preferred to call him 'E' because it was his favorite way of calling him, but sometimes, he'd use his name to capture his attention and right now, he knew that Ethan was probably spiraling in his own head and the fact that Hope and Josie weren't picking him wasn't helping either.
"We've got time." MG assured him although he didn't know that for certain. He'd never been bitten by a werewolf before and those who had been hadn't lived to tell the tale of how much time it had taken for the venom to fully stop their heart, but, MG had hope that he had just enough time to tell Ethan what he needed him to know. "Sit down with me." MG patted the spot next to him on the bed, moving his own body a little bit to the right with a wince falling from his lips as his body protested. "I have to tell you something." MG whispered, his eyes finding Ethan again.
"I wanted to tell you under better circumstances but, um..." MG frowned as he swallowed past the lump in his throat. "I've been too much of a coward." He added a moment later, pausing for a moment to gather his thoughts. "The consequences of telling you and then losing you were too great for me and I just..." MG licked his bottom lip as he took yet another pause. "I was afraid that I'd lose you, E. But, um, I think I've waited for a little too long and now it's almost too late." MG let out a humorless chuckle which ended with a wince of pain.
"God, I don't even know where to start. If I had the time, I probably would've done somethin' real cheesy but, um, havin' a clock ticking over your head kinda limits your options." MG looked at Ethan again, his lips drawing into a small smile. "I love you, E." MG confessed, his eyes solely on the other as the words slipped from his lips with ease. "I've loved you for a long time and I was worried that if I ever told you the truth that it'd put you in a tough spot and I'd never wanna do somethin' like that to you but, um... I just wanted you to know, just in case..." MG trailed off but he knew that what he was implying was already lingering heavily in the air especially since he was starting to look worse than before, his skin was breaking out into sweat, his face was a little paler than usual and there was a tremble that rushed through his body every now and then. But, at least he could still find the strength to talk and for that, he was grateful. "I'm sorry, for doing this right now, but I've always wanted to tell you and each time, I put it off because I felt like the timing was just not right and now it feels like I'm already too late and it feels so goddamn selfish to do this to you right now and for that, I'm really sorry, E." MG paused to gauge Ethan's reaction, his breath hitching as he waited to see how he'd react to the confession. He had so much he still wanted to say, but for now, he wanted to wait to see Ethan's reaction to everything.

“It’s lucky you came into the store that day,” Ethan said, a smile forming on his face as he looked over at MG. So much had changed since then but Ethan knew that he wouldn’t have changed any of it. Meeting MG had turned his whole world upside down, not only had Ethan learned about the supernatural but the way he felt about MG was something he had never felt about anyone else before. Ethan had always heard about what it was like to fall for someone and he had seen Maya get her heart broken too many times since she seemed to fall in love quite easily but he had never experienced it himself. He had also never developed feelings for a guy before despite the fact that he’d always had a lot of male friends while he was growing up. Ethan had thought he had known the kind of person he was into but MG had changed that completely. That had scared Ethan at first because he had felt certain that there was no way that MG would ever feel the same way about him and even now he was sure that it was one sided but occasionally there had been things that MG had said that had given him hope. Ethan had never felt a connection with anyone like the one he had with MG, he knew that it was special and as far as he was concerned it was worth fighting for. There was a part of him that had wanted to tell MG how he felt before the battle but he hadn’t known how MG would take it and he hadn’t wanted to distract him so instead Ethan had stayed quiet and now he wasn’t sure how to tell him. He knew that he was probably just over thinking it but he couldn’t help it, MG meant so much to him and Ethan was terrified of losing him. Right now Ethan was more worried about making sure that MG made it through the night. He had survived the battle but Ethan could see that MG was suffering and he wanted nothing more than for that to stop. Helping MG into his dorm room, Ethan nodded as MG said that Hope’s blood could cure werewolf bites. “So we really need to find Hope,” he nodded. He wanted nothing more than to go and find Hope right now and bring her back to the room so she could heal MG or at least get some of her blood but MG didn’t want him to go and the request was enough to make Ethan’s heart ache. He was so scared of losing MG but at the same time he knew that he didn’t want to leave the guy on his own. There was a part of Ethan that was curious about what it was that MG wanted to talk to him about but his concern was winning out over everything else right now. “I don’t want you to be alone,” he said at last when MG said that if he didn’t make it then it would at least give him some peace of mind. Ethan hated hearing him talk like that, almost like he had already given up, and Ethan refused to let him – not now. “That’s not good enough,” he breathed, blinking away tears as MG said that Hope would come when she had a minute. He knew that he couldn’t leave MG alone but that didn’t stop him from trying to call Hope and Josie and leaving them both a message when their voicemails kicked in. He was about to start calling other members of the Squad, hoping that one of them could find Hope and get her there since he couldn’t leave MG when MG used his full name and that was enough to make Ethan snap out of it for a moment. MG rarely called him by his full name, he normally called him E, and if Ethan was honest the way MG said it always made his heart leap. There was something about the way he’d said his name this time too though, almost like MG knew it would get his attention, but it didn’t ease his frustration about not being able to get hold of the person who could save the life of the person who meant so much to him, to all of them. “Are you sure about that?” he asked as MG said they had time. Ethan was still learning about the supernatural world and he didn’t know much about werewolf bites but MG had said he thought there might be more than one and Ethan knew that meant they would have less time than they otherwise would. Ethan hesitated as MG told him to sit down with him. It felt wrong to sit there and do nothing while MG was dying, he wanted to be out there looking for Hope but he had told MG that he would stay with him and Ethan knew that he needed to keep his word. Letting out a shaky breath, Ethan sat down next to MG and turned to look at him. Whatever it was MG wanted to say it was clearly important and Ethan knew that he owed it to MG to hear him out. As MG started speaking and said that he was afraid of losing him, Ethan frowned. “You’d never lose me, MG,” Ethan assured him gently. He couldn’t help but wonder whether perhaps what MG wanted to tell him was what Ethan had wanted to tell him earlier but he knew that he didn’t want to get his hopes up. Instead he forced himself to stay quiet even as his heart began hammering away in his chest and he listened intently to MG as he continued. As MG said he loved him, Ethan’s breath caught in his throat. For a moment everything else seemed to melt away and there was just the two of them but Ethan came crashing back to reality as MG said that he wanted him to know just in case. Ethan knew the words that had gone unspoken there, MG had wanted him to know in case he didn’t make it and that was enough to make Ethan’s heart ache once more. Just the thought of losing MG now was too much but suddenly MG was apologising and Ethan’s expression softened. He had stayed quiet while MG had said what he’d wanted to but as he paused again, Ethan’s hand found MG’s cheek and their eyes met once more. “Stop talking for a minute and kiss me,” he breathed, leaning forward slowly and giving MG time to pull away if it wasn’t what he wanted before connecting their lips in a kiss that Ethan found himself pouring everything into, just in case. “I love you too, MG,” he said as he pulled back slightly. “I’ve felt that way for a long time too, before I even became a vampire. I wanted to tell you so badly but I was scared too,” he said, running his hand gently down MG’s cheek before clearing his throat and taking MG’s hand in both of his own as his eyes locked on MG’s. He could see that MG was getting worse but Ethan refused to believe that this would be the end. “Listen, this isn’t how this is going to play out. Do you hear me? You don’t get to tell me you love me and then die, that’s not happening,” he said fiercely, knowing that he wasn’t going to let MG give up. “You have to hang on until Hope gets here,” he added, lifting one hand to wipe away the tears that had formed in his eyes before taking MG’s hand once more. “You’re not a coward, you’re the strongest person I know. You have to fight, MG.”MILTON GREASLEY

** set after raziel's defeat. I know what it's like to think of yourself as a monster
MG had thought of all the other ways that he could tell Ethan his true feelings for him but he never thought he'd tell him any of it while he was on his death bed. But he knew that he had to say something - just in case. Though his surprise was evident in the way that his eyes widened slightly when Ethan asked him to kiss him. He sighed softly into the kiss, relief making the tension ease away from his shoulders entirely as he weakly moved his hand to rest on Ethan's cheek, kissing him back and pouring all unsaid words into the kiss, all the longing and desire. "You..." You feel the same way? He wanted to ask, only to stop when Ethan started talking. MG felt tears rush to his eyes as he continued listening, feeling relief rush through him. "God, I feel like such an idiot. If only I had something sooner..." But it never felt like the right time, especially when Lizzie came back and started expressing interest in Ethan. He kept putting it off again and again, telling himself that he might end up losing Ethan for good if he chose to confess at the wrong time.
He nodded his head slowly at his words before he let out a weak chuckle. "I'm not going anywhere, E." He promised despite the fact that he didn't look like he had a say in the matter. "Not when I can finally hold your hand like this." He looked down at his hand that was covered by Ethan's. "Not when I know that you feel the same way." He added, his breathing a little weaker than before, but he was still talking, still fighting. "I'm fighting. I want to stay. I want to live, E. For you." For everyone who also gave him the strength to keep going. He weakly held onto Ethan's hand, his expression softening when he saw him wipe his tears away. "You have no idea how happy you just made me, E. Thank you, really." MG resisted the urge to close his eyes for as long as he could, wanting to stay for as long as possible to give the girls some time to find him. He didn't want to let Ethan down. "Just being able to say I love you makes me really h-happy, but knowing that you love me back is a whole new feeling that I've never felt up until now. Thank you." He could feel his hand growing weaker, his hold relaxing on Ethan's despite him trying so hard not to give up and as his eyes grew a little more unfocused and the noises around him grew a lot more distant, he couldn't help but realize just how close he was to the end until the moment that he heard the door open and the familiar voice of Josie rang in the air. As much as he wanted to say something, he couldn't find the strength to do it. He was still alive, hanging on for as long as he could for Ethan's sake. He'd already used up all his strength to say those words to Ethan, so he just let his hand remain between Ethan's and his eyes soon drifted from Josie to rest on Ethan once again because just in case he didn't make it, he wanted to be able to see Ethan's face just one last time.

Ethan would be lying if he said he hadn’t been scared before the fight with Raziel but he had known that there was no way that he was going to abandon his friends. He honestly hadn’t thought that they would make it all through it in one piece but they had done and Raziel had been defeated. Right now Ethan was terrified about losing MG, though, and every second he stayed there it was a fight not to run out and drag Hope back with him so that she could heal him. Even before hearing that MG was in love with him the thought of losing him was far too painful but now it wasn’t something that Ethan could even think about. He knew that losing MG would break him and it would mean that they wouldn’t have the chance to figure out how to make this work. He knew that he wanted to be with MG and the moment their lips met he found himself pouring everything into that kiss and he could tell that MG was doing the same. Ethan had dated before but his heart had never really been in it, not like it was with MG. The guy was his best friend and Ethan refused to think about losing him. “You’re not an idiot, MG. I could have said something as well but I didn’t because I was too afraid of losing you,” Ethan admitted gently. He had convinced himself that he was just seeing what he wanted to see and that MG didn’t really feel that way about him. When Lizzie came back Ethan had tried to distract himself from his feelings for MG by spending time with her but it hadn’t changed a thing. It was MG that he wanted to be with and he hoped they would get that chance. “You’d better not because if you do I’ll just have to find you and drag you back,” Ethan said, forcing a smile as he lifted their joined hands and pressed a kiss to MG’s knuckles. As MG said that he wanted to live for him, Ethan shook his head. “Don’t want it just for me, you have to want this for you,” he said, lifting his gaze to meet MG’s. “You’ve always fought so hard and you deserve the chance to live and be happy more than anyone I know.” He knew that things hadn’t been easy for MG at all but he had made it through everything that life had thrown at him so far and Ethan knew they had to believe that he was going to make it through this as well. As MG thanked him, Ethan’s smile turned genuine. “You don’t need to thank me, you’ve made me just as happy,” Ethan assured him. He had never thought that MG would feel the same so the fact that he did seemed so surreal but Ethan knew that he wouldn’t want it any other way. “I’ll never get tired of hearing you say that and I’ll always love you, no matter what,” he said, not bothering to wipe his tears away this time. He could tell that MG was getting weaker, his grip on his hand had relaxed and it made Ethan squeeze MG’s hand a little tighter. This couldn’t be the end, even just thinking that seemed far too cruel. It seemed like a lifetime passed before the door opened and Ethan heard a familiar voice and he let out a breath of relief. “Thank goodness.” Looking up, a frown crossed his face as he realised that Hope wasn’t with Josie. “Where’s Hope?” he asked, his heart starting to sink. Josie had always known that the fight against Raziel was going to be tough, the first time around he had killed her and Hope but he’d caught them off guard. They hadn’t known what he was capable of back then so there was no way that they could have been prepared and there had only been a few of them fighting against him. This time they’d had time to plan and they’d managed to weaken him before taking him on. They’d had their full force working against him and others from the school and beyond had decided to help as well. She knew that they wouldn’t have been able to do it without all of them but now they were left dealing with the fallout. Josie had lost track of a lot of people during the fight but afterwards as she helped heal those who were injured she managed to spot most of her friends and make sure that they were alright. So many people had been hurt but it honestly was a miracle that the numbers hadn’t been greater. She and her friends had faced a lot over the years but never anything like this. Just the thought of an angel who wanted to wipe out every supernatural being around the world was a terrifying one but they’d managed to stop him and that meant that they were all safe for a while longer. Raziel had had his own forces fighting against them but in the end even they hadn’t been enough and Josie felt so much better knowing that he couldn’t hurt anyone else. The angel had already subjected his own son to five thousand years of torture because he had done something that he didn’t approve of and he had seemed to take great joy in causing them all pain. None of them had deserved that and she knew that he’d lied to the people he had roped into fighting by his side but it was over now and for that Josie really was glad. They’d managed to gather together most of the people who were injured in one place which made helping them that much easier but more were coming in all the time and it felt like it was never going to end. Josie hadn’t seen MG or Ethan after the fight and she hoped that the two of them were okay but right now she found herself helping out those who needed it as much as she could. At first she moved through the room using her magic to heal the wounds that she could and leaving the vampires who had been bitten by werecreatures to Hope since her blood was able to heal them but so many of the vampires among their number had been hurt that in the end Josie found that she could heal them as well while trying to take their pain away. She could siphon the magic from the werewolf venom and heal them that way which hopefully took some of the pressure off of Hope. Josie was worried about her girlfriend but she knew that Hope wouldn’t stop until they had helped everyone and Josie wouldn’t either. Finally things seemed to be calming down a little and as she finished up with one student, Josie glanced over at Hope to make sure she was alright before pulling her phone from her pocket. She hadn’t been able to check it while they were so busy but now she had a moment she was surprised to see that she had missed calls from both MG and Ethan. Listening to her voicemails, her heart sank as she heard that MG had been bitten and the colour drained from her face as she made her way over to her girlfriend. “Hope, can you handle things here for a while? It’s MG, he’s been bitten,” she said, knowing that she didn’t need to say anything more than that for Hope to know how bad it was. Relieved as Hope nodded, Josie stole a kiss before grabbing two of the blood bags that had been brought up from the stores to help those they were healing in case Ethan needed one as well and racing off in the direction of the room MG was in. Opening the door, her breath caught in her throat at the sight of MG looking so weak. “Oh, MG,” she breathed as she made her way over to him. It looked like she might have just walked in on something between them and there was a part of her that wanted to ask but she knew that now wasn’t the time so that would have to wait. As Ethan asked where Hope was, Josie offered him a gentle look. “A lot of people were hurt so Hope is helping them,” she said before offering MG a gentle smile as she looked down at him. “I can siphon the magic from the werewolf venom and heal your wounds. Where have you been bitten?” she asked as she set the blood bags down on the bed, waiting for MG to tell her before setting to work. Some of those who were hurt had been bitten multiple times but Josie had found that she could hone her siphoning ability. Once she was able to place her hands on one of the wounds and could feel the venom doing its work she could sense it throughout the rest of the person’s body as well and siphon the magic away from the venom alone without siphoning magic away from the person she was helping as well and that was what she aimed to do now, knowing from how weak MG looked that she needed to work as quickly as she could.
