“There are worse images to be stuck with,” Ben said, a grin forming on his face as he looked over at Jed. He could definitely see why Jed didn’t mind being stuck with that particular one and now it was at the forefront of his mind as well. “You’re really going to make us watch all of them, aren’t you?” he chuckled although the truth was that he didn’t really mind. “How many are there?” he asked, knowing that it would be good to at least know what he was in for. The movies weren’t actually bad from what he had seen so far but they were the first that he had seen so he knew that he didn’t have anything to compare them to yet. “You’re definitely biased but I’ll take it,” Ben said, his smile widening as he leaned forward and stole a quick kiss. “I know you would have worked it out on your own sooner or later but I’m glad I was able to help you figure it out,” he said gently. Jed never gave himself anywhere near as much credit as he deserved but that was something that Ben was used to by now. He didn’t doubt that Jed would have figured it out on his own sooner or later but he couldn’t deny that it felt good to know that he was the one who had opened Jed’s eyes to it. “If it helps I’m no better, I’ve met a lot of guys since I was cursed but you’re the only one in all that time who has made me feel like this.” He’d had a few one night stands, that was true, but there had never been anything really there with any of them. From the moment he woke up and his eyes first fell on Jed something inside of him had changed, though, and he knew that he would do whatever he could in order to keep Jed in his life. It was clear to him just how much of a good guy Jed was, he always looked out for those around him and he had been doing that for Ben ever since they met and Ben couldn’t deny that it meant the world to him. Ben couldn’t ignore the way that Jed’s cheeks started becoming red again but it was clear that Jed didn’t want any attention drawn to it so Ben stayed quiet and instead stayed focused on his meal. Once he had finished he was about to help clear everything away but Ric told him not to and Ben got the impression that he shouldn’t argue so instead he stayed where he was. It wasn’t long before Jed was returning with their beers and a bowl of fruit and Ben took the bottle that Jed held out to him before slipping his hand into Jed’s as Jed reached for his hand. “Thanks,” he said, offering Jed a smile as they headed back into the living room. Sitting back down, an amused smile touched his lips as Jed tried to juggle everything while holding onto his hand still and ended up pressing the wrong button. “You know, this would be a lot easier if you had the use of your other hand,” Ben said with a half smile on his lips although he made no move to let go of Jed’s hand. Opening his beer with his free hand, Ben settled back with Jed to watch the movie and his smile widened as he realised that Jed was mouthing the words along with the movie. “You’ve watched this a lot, haven’t you?” he chuckled as he took a sip of his beer. Ben couldn’t deny that the movie wasn’t actually that bad but if he was honest what he enjoyed the most was being able to spend time with Jed like this. “I’m not sure what those are but sure,” he nodded, knowing that he was up for watching anything as long as it was with Jed. “Which one do you think I’ll pick?” he asked, unable to deny that he was curious even though he knew that it wouldn’t really mean much to him right now anyway. – I freed myself from words never said –
Jed nodded his head in agreement with Ben as a chuckle left his lips when he said that there are worse images to be stuck with. He was definitely right about that. "Yuuuuup." Jed drawled with a grin forming on his lips not long after. He was definitely going to make Ben watch all of them. "Well, there are five movies. We watched two so far." Jed said with a quick nod of his head following.
Jed chuckled at Ben's words when he told him that he was definitely biased. "Me too." Jed's lips stretched to form a soft smile. He was definitely glad that Ben was in his life. Having him around helped him figure out a lot of stuff about himself. Though it wasn't only that. Having Ben around made him a happier person and that definitely meant a lot to Jed. Jed could feel the heat rising to his cheeks as his heart fluttered in the best way possible as he listened to Ben, his words making his lips stretch to form a shy smile. "It definitely helps." Jed replied almost immediately, still looking quite happy to hear Ben say something like that.
"And let go of your hand? I think not." That was Jed's immediate response to Ben's suggestion as he shook his head stubbornly. "It's okay though, I got it." Jed said with a soft smile resting on his lips. Jed stopped his unconscious mouthing and turned to look at Ben. "Yeah, actually. It's kinda my favorite thing to watch, especially when I'm feeling down. It's like a comfort movie despite how bad it actually is." Jed said with a chuckle falling from his lips not long after, Ben's hand still in his own. "Actually, I just realized how depressing it sounds since I know the movies word to word, but, I don't always watch it when I'm just sad." Jed pointed out a moment later after.
Jed nodded his head in an understanding manner when Ben told him that he wasn't sure what those were. "It's okay, I'll introduce you to them." Jed assured him a moment later. "I think..." Jed trailed off for a moment as he turned to look at Ben a little better. "I think you'll like the Marvel universe." Jed said with a quick nod of his head following, his eyes focused solely on the other. "But, if you do like the DC universe, that's fine too. I'm just a big fan of Marvel stuff." Jed said with a half-smile resting on his lips. "Can't wait for you to find your favorite character." Jed added a moment later with a grin forming on his lips. "We won't start that today, though. Or else you'll be spending the night over." Jed chuckled at that before he seemed to think about something for a moment. "I mean, do you?" Jed asked a moment later as he tilted his head curiously. "Wanna spend the night over, I mean."

“They do make the movies better,” Ben admitted, knowing that he wouldn’t be as interested without them to look at. As it was he didn’t mind the movies and they were pretty easy to follow even if they were completely inaccurate and he was glad that they weren’t too complicated. “That’s not so bad, we’ll get through them,” he nodded. “Are all movies as inaccurate as these seem to be?” he asked. He knew that it was important to keep the supernatural world a secret and he had been trying to do that his whole life but the idea of vampires sparkling and having different powers as well as people who could turn into giant wolves whenever they wanted to and communicate telepathically was all pretty farfetched as far as Ben was concerned. They weren’t bad, though, and he could tell that Jed really liked them so Ben was glad that he had the chance to see them. It really was funny how just one look from Jed was enough to make Ben’s heart melt. He was so used to being on his own and he had kept on telling himself that he really didn’t need anyone else but he knew now just how wrong he had been. From the moment he first saw Jed Ben had known that he was in trouble but he didn’t see it as a bad thing. Jed had come to mean so much to him in such a short space of time and Ben knew that he didn’t want to let that go. He was happier whenever he was with Jed and he really believed that he was becoming a better person so Ben wanted to stay around him for as long as he could. “Good because I mean it,” Ben said gently. He really hadn’t met anyone who could make him feel like this before, it was an effect that only Jed had on him and if he was honest he was glad because it made their relationship that much more special. As Jed spoke again, Ben couldn’t help but laugh. “Don’t worry, I don’t want to let go of your hand either,” he admitted. It was why he hadn’t made any move to let go of Jed’s hand even after saying that it would make things easier for him, Ben loved having some kind of contact with Jed whenever they were together and now was no exception. “These are the first movies I’ve seen but I don’t think they’re bad, I can understand why you like them,” he shrugged as he took a sip of his beer. “It’s okay, I didn’t think you did,” he assured him gently, a smile touching his lips as he looked over at Jed. Nodding as Jed said that he would introduce him to the two kinds of movies that he had just mentioned, Ben couldn’t deny that he was looking forward to it. Being able to just sit with Jed like this and relax was something that Ben knew that he could definitely get used to. It was always there in the back of his mind that a monster could find him at any minute but Jed had said that his family could all look after themselves and Ben believed them so he knew better than to worry about that. Instead he was able to just enjoy doing something simple like this and he knew that he wanted to make the most of it. “I get the feeling there are a lot to choose from. Who is your favourite?” he asked, knowing that he would at least be able to look out for that particular character when they started watching those movies. “That’s fine, I think one series at a time is enough,” Ben admitted, knowing that he would probably end up losing track if they tried to watch too many at once. He hadn’t really thought anything of it when Jed had said that he would be spending the night otherwise so his question caught Ben off guard. “Hmm?” he murmured but then he realised what Jed meant and his expression softened. “I would like that but only if it’s what you want and your family is okay with it.”JED SALTZMAN

Jed nodded his head in agreement with Ben, his lips stretching to form a grin. "I don't have to be jealous of either one of them, do I?" Jed asked in a teasing voice. "That's the spirit." Jed said with a beaming grin resting on his lips. He released a small hum as he thought about it for a moment. "Nope, these movies are just badly written and badly directed." Jed assured him with a chuckle falling from his lips not long after.
"I know you do." Jed said with a soft smile tugging at the corner of his lips. He definitely knew that Ben meant it. He held no doubt in his mind whatsoever. When Ben assured him that he didn't want to let go of his hand either, Jed's lips stretched to form a smile in an instant, definitely pleased to hear Ben say that. He gave Ben's hand a squeeze just because he wanted to. "Oh yeah? I'm glad to hear that." Jed was definitely pleased that Ben didn't hate the movies. They weren't the best, but that's what was so charming about them.
Jed nodded his head in an instant. "Yeah, there's definitely a lot of them and all their personalities are just different which makes it harder to choose from." Jed said before lifting the beer up to his lips to take a quick sip. "Loki, for sure." Jed replied in an instant. Maybe having a male favorite character should have opened his eyes to the fact that he was attracted to men, too, but he didn't even notice that. "Yeah, of course, I want that." Jed replied almost immediately. "M– Jenna, is it okay if Ben stayed the night?" Jed called out from where he was on the couch, tilting his head back to see if he could spot Jenna from where she was in the kitchen. "Yeah, of course! I can bring you extra covers from our room. The house gets chilly at night." Jenna replied with a soft smile on her lips. "Dad, are you okay if Ben stays the night with us today?" Jed had managed to catch himself the first time when he almost called Jenna 'mom' but it slipped out completely when he turned his attention to Alaric and he didn't even seem to realize it.

Ben knew that Jed was only teasing when he asked if he needed to be jealous of either of the guys in the movie but a smile touched his lips nonetheless. “You know I only have eyes for you,” he said, bringing his hand up and letting it rest lightly against Jed’s cheek. The guys in the movie were good looking, that was true, but Ben really wasn’t interested in anyone else. As Jed said that the movies were badly written and badly directed, Ben couldn’t help but laugh. “So why do you like them?” he asked, unable to deny that he was curious. It was clear that they meant a lot to Jed and Ben wanted to understand why. For such a long time he had lived his life not really interacting with society properly but now he was starting to realise just what he was missing out on. Ben knew that he owed Jed so much and he wanted to find a way to repay that sooner or later if he could. Ben couldn’t stop a smile from touching his lips as Jed squeezed his hand and Ben lifted their joined hands and pressed a light kiss to Jed’s knuckles. As Jed said he was glad to hear that he didn’t hate the movies, Ben’s smile widened. “They clearly mean a lot to you so of course I like them,” he grinned, knowing that he would probably like most things that Jed ended up showing him. “I’ll have to keep an eye out for him when we get to those movies,” Ben nodded, knowing that he was definitely going to have to remember that name. “Why do I get the feeling you’ll tell me no spoilers if I ask you why you like him?” he teased. Ben knew that he had a lot to learn but the truth was that so far he was enjoying it and he was looking forward to being able to watch the other movies with Jed as well. “You really are full of surprises today,” Ben said, his smile returning as his eyes met Jed’s. First Jed had introduced him to his family and called him his boyfriend in front of them and now Jed was asking him to stay the night but Ben certainly wasn’t complaining, if anything he was flattered. Giving Jed’s hand a gentle squeeze as he called out to Jenna first, Ben’s smile widened as she said he could stay. Ric’s response didn’t come quite as quickly but Ben wasn’t sure that it had anything to do with the question, he had a feeling it was more about what Jed had said when he’d asked. “Yeah of course. He can stay over any time,” came Ric’s response at last and he then turned to Jenna and asked in a low voice. “You heard that too, right? I didn’t imagine it?” With both of their answers given, Ben turned his attention back to Jed. “That’s settled then, it looks like I’m staying the night,” he grinned. JED SALTZMAN

Jed's lips stretched to form a genuine smile when Ben pointed out that he only has eyes for him before his hand was on his cheek not long after, the touch immediately making his heart flutter in the most pleasant way possible as he lifted his hand to rest it on top of Ben's. "I know." Jed offered with the same smile still on his lips. "Well, it's because they're badly written and directed." Jed revealed a moment later with a chuckle falling from his lips not long after.
Jed felt a smile touch his lips almost immediately at that, looking quite pleased to hear Ben say that. The kiss that Ben left on his knuckles not long after was enough to make his heart skip a beat in the most pleasant way possible because it really was the sweetest thing ever. "Thank you." Jed said with a soft smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
"He's definitely hard to miss." Jed said with a chuckle falling from his lips. "Oh, look at you, starting to know my responses by heart already." Jed chuckled when Ben predicted that he was going to reply with his classic 'no spoilers' if Ben had asked about why he liked Loki. "I also really like Tony Stark." Again, a male character was his favorite. Anyone surprised? No?
"Am I?" Jed's lips stretched to form a grin at that, looking rather pleased. "That's a good thing, right?" He asked even though he already knew the answer to that question as he gave Ben's hand a gentle squeeze, letting his thumb brush against Ben's knuckles. "Nice, thanks." Jed responded with a grin forming on his lips, still oblivious to the slip. "Oh, I definitely heard that and I'm trying really hard not to cry right now because that was the cutest thing ever." Jenna replied as her eyes moved to rest on her husband.
"Looks like you are." Jed replied with a pleased grin on his lips before his attention drifted to rest on the screen once again so that he could pay attention to the movie which played for a while until Jed raised his hand to cover his mouth when he yawned, his lashes growing heavy. He tried to push through his sleepiness because he didn't want to stop the movie just yet but as the credits rolled, Jed couldn't keep his eyes open for longer than a couple of minutes. It didn't help that somewhere in the midst of the movie, he tilted his head to let it rest against Ben's shoulder. "Okay, I'm trying really hard not to fall asleep right now and I'm one hundred percent convinced if we start the next movie, I won't last longer than three seconds. Do you wanna head to bed? I can give you something of mine to wear, too. It would definitely be a lot more comfortable to sleep in."

Ben was pretty sure that his eyes gave away just how much Jed meant to him as they met Jed’s, he had given up on the idea of finding someone he would ever feel like this about a long time go. He had never thought that he would find someone who would accept the fact that he was cursed let alone still want to be with him but Jed wasn’t bothered by any of it and Ben couldn’t deny that he was happy. “Good because it’s not going to change,” Ben assured him as Jed said that he knew he only had eyes for him. No one else had ever captured his attention the way that Jed had done and that scared Ben a little but at the same time he couldn’t deny that he loved it. “I guess that might make more sense when I’ve seen some other movies and have something to compare them to,” Ben chuckled, an amused smile forming on his face as he looked over at Jed. “That doesn’t surprise me,” Ben admitted as Jed said that Loki was hard to miss. He had a feeling that he was going to end up learning a lot from this moment on but as far as Ben was concerned that wasn’t a bad thing. For far too long he had let the world pass him by without ever really being a part of it and he knew that he didn’t want to do that any longer. He wanted to actually be a part of the world and Jed was helping him with that. “I’ll have to keep an eye out for him as well,” he nodded. “What are the movies about?” he asked, not sure if Jed would be able to tell him that much at least. “Yeah, you are,” he grinned as Jed asked if he was full of surprises. “It’s definitely a good thing,” he nodded. “First the make out session, then introducing me to your family as your boyfriend and now asking if I can stay the night. Looks like you’re becoming less nervous all the time,” he added, giving Jed’s hand a gentle squeeze in return. He had heard the fact that Jed had called Ric dad but the truth was that Ben didn’t completely understand the way things worked with the family just yet so to him it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. “You’re right, it was. I can hardly believe it,” Ric said, moving closer to Jenna and wrapping his arms around her as he kissed her cheek gently. Ben was a little surprised at how accepting Ric and Jenna were of the idea of him staying the night but neither of them seemed to mind at all and for that Ben really was grateful. “Thank you,” he called out to Ric and Jenna. A smile touched his lips as Jed agreed with him and Ben’s gaze lingered on his boyfriend for a moment more before he turned his attention back to the movie. Somewhere along the way Jed had let his head rest against his shoulder and Ben’s head rested against Jed’s in turn. Sitting there like that Ben was perfectly content and he let himself relax for the first time in what felt like a long time as the movie played through until the end. “Let’s go to bed,” he nodded. “I’m actually surprised you managed to stay awake until the end of that movie but to be honest I’m struggling too,” he admitted, keeping Jed’s hand in his as he got to his feet and pulled Jed up with him. “I’d appreciate that, thank you,” he added as Jed offered to let him borrow some clothes to sleep in. – I freed myself from words never said –
Jed felt his heart skip a beat as he listened to Ben. He loved the way Ben could be so romantic without even trying. Maybe Jed was just whipped for the man, but there was something about the way he said those things that made Jed’s heart positively skip a beat. Jed nodded his head in agreement with Ben because it will definitely make a lot more sense once Ben has seen other movies that are well-made and well-directed. He was definitely going to have fun showing Ben different genres of movies. He can’t wait for Ben to find his favorite movie.
“Well, they are about heroes and villains fighting each other. I guess that’s the over-simplification of the whole franchise.” Jed said with a chuckle falling from his lips not long after. “But it’s pretty good because sometimes it has you rooting for the villain.” Jed added a moment later which would explain why his favorite character was Loki, a villain.
“Oh.” Jed’s lips stretched to form a soft smile as he listened to Ben as his shoulders lifted and dropped in a quick shrug. “I guess you bring that side out of me.” Jed said with a grin forming on his lips not long after as his eyes moved to settle on Ben once again. Jenna returned the kiss on Ric’s cheek, her happy smile still visible on her lips as she looked at Ben and Jed. “Me too, honestly. I think he almost called me mom, too.”
Jed nodded his head almost immediately when Ben told him that they should go to bed. “I was too stubborn and I wanted you to see it to the end, too.” Jed said with a sleepy smile stretching his lips not long after. He stood up with Ben’s help and when Ben accepted his offer, he nodded his head almost right away. “Okay, c’mon.” Jed took the lead and began making his way to the stairs. “We’re heading to bed, guys. Goodnight!” Jed quickly got a goodnight! from Jenna who was busy knitting something on the rocking chair by the fireplace.
Once Jed has reached his bedroom, he began making his way to his wardrobe, Ben’s hand in his own still. He combed through his wardrobe for something to give to his boyfriend and upon finding an outfit that might work for Ben without squeezing his shoulders too tightly, he turned and offered it to him. “I think this will work.” Jed said with a quick nod of his head following, finally releasing Ben’s hand from his own so his boyfriend could change. “Let me know if it’s too tight.” Jed realized that he was still looking at Ben before he cleared his throat and looked away as he began moving to his bed instead to fix the pillows despite the fact that they were already fixed and didn’t need to be messed around with. He pulled his phone out to check on his pack as he moved to sit down on the edge of the bed, still not looking at Ben to offer him privacy if he needed it.

Ben often found himself speaking without even thinking about it and he would be lying if he said that there weren’t times when he worried if perhaps he was being a little too honest with Jed or coming on a little too strong but he trusted Jed and he knew that the guy would tell him if that ever happened. They had made a promise to be honest with each other and that was something that they were doing a pretty good job of sticking to so far. Ben knew that watching a couple of movies together was only something simple but it was spending time with Jed that he enjoyed the most and he couldn’t help but feel glad that they had been able to do this. He knew that he still had a lot to learn but so far it was going well and he knew that he wanted it to stay that way. “That doesn’t sound so bad although I’m not sure about rooting for a villain,” he admitted, knowing that that would be far too much like someone rooting for his father. “I know things aren’t always black and white though so I guess it depends on the story,” he added. He knew that things could be complicated so he wouldn’t be surprised at all if they had a way of spinning the story to have people rooting for characters other than just the obvious ones. “You won’t hear any arguments from me, I like this side of you,” Ben admitted, a smile forming on his face to match Jed’s as their eyes met. He hadn’t blamed Jed for being nervous at first, after all this was all new to him, but he seemed to be taking it all in his stride now and Ben couldn’t deny that he was proud of him for it. This was the first relationship that Ben had been in for such a long time and the truth was that he was enjoying every minute of it. “I think so too, he really has come a long way,” Ric nodded. As Jed said he was too stubborn and wanted him to see the movie through to the end, Ben couldn’t help but laugh. “Well I appreciate it but now I think we could both use some sleep,” he admitted, stifling a yawn as they got to their feet. “Goodnight,” Ben said, offering them both a smile before they headed out of the room. As always Jed’s hand was still clasped in his as they made their way upstairs and it stayed that way while Jed began looking through his wardrobe trying to find something that he could wear. “I will, thanks,” he nodded, reluctantly letting go of Jed’s hand so that he could get changed. As Jed cleared his throat and looked away, Ben couldn’t help but smile. “It’s okay, I’m not embarrassed,” Ben assured him, not wanting Jed to feel like he had to look away on his account. Ben had grown used to the way his body always healed when he resurrected and it was still that way now. Swapping his jeans for the bottoms that Jed had given him and finding that they were a comfortable fit, Ben then tried the t shirt and a frown formed on his face as he looked over at Jed. “It is a little tight, what do you think?” he asked, not sure whether it was a little too tight. – I freed myself from words never said –
“Yeah, I know how bad that sounds.” Jed’s lips stretched to form a sympathetic smile as he kept his eyes focused on Ben, watching him for a moment. “Exactly. It’s a lot less — harsh in movies, too.” Jed added a moment later with a quick nod of his head following. It definitely didn’t sound that good to root for a villain but for the marvel universe, it wasn’t always black and white.
“That’s a relief, then. Because honestly, this side of me has no idea what he’s doing most of the time. These things just happen without giving it too much thought.” Jed said with a chuckle falling from his lips not long after. “He really has.” Jenna said with a proud little smile on her lips still.
Jed nodded his head in agreement with Ben when he told him that they could use some sleep. Ben was definitely not wrong about that. Jed took him upstairs to his bedroom where he offered him some new clothes to change into and then he reluctantly let go of Ben’s hand so that his boyfriend could change out of his clothes without any restrictions. Jed’s lips stretched to form a soft smile when Ben told him that he wasn’t embarrassed about changing in front of Jed. He wanted to sneak a little look but he was worried about what would happen after if he did. He wasn’t one hundred percent he’d be able to keep his hands to himself. When Ben mentioned it being a little tight, he lifted his gaze to look at Ben which was definitely a mistake because his shirt was tight on Ben’s upper half and it was a drool-worthy sight.
Jed’s eyes moved to Ben’s arms and down to his hands, his brain malfunctioning a little bit as his lips parted and closed a few times. “Uh… You…” Jed gulped past the lump in his throat, his throat suddenly feeling so dry like he had just finished running an entire marathon. “You look, um, you look g–great.” Jed finally managed to say, his eyes still not meeting Ben’s yet. He was too busy looking elsewhere. “I can… I can find s—something else for you if you want.”

“It does, especially since we’re both the sons of villains,” Ben admitted. Jed’s father had been abusive to him and had tried to make Jed kill his best friend while Ben’s father had never wanted anything to do with him and had cursed him after he decided to take matters into his own hands to save the person he loved. Ben couldn’t imagine ever rooting for someone like that but he knew that there had to be a reason for it in movies if some people did. “It will be interesting to see what the characters are like,” he nodded, knowing that it would be good to see things the way that Jed did. “There’s nothing wrong with that, I’m making this up as I go along as well,” Ben admitted. He had no idea how to be a boyfriend or a friend to anyone so he really was just figuring things out as he went along and thankfully those around him were being so patient with him. He knew that they could have easily grown tired of him and left him to it but they hadn’t done and Jed had been going above and beyond for him ever since they met. Ben had felt nervous about meeting Jed’s family but things had gone so much better than he had ever hoped for and now he could hardly believe that he was going to be spending the night with Jed. It was something that he had thought about a lot and even though he knew that nothing was going to happen the truth was that he didn’t mind. He had meant it when he had said that he would settle for just being able to wake up next to Jed in the morning and now he was going to get the chance to do just that so he couldn’t wait. Changing out of his clothes, Ben was comfortable for the most part but he couldn’t deny that the t shirt was quite restrictive. He was broader across the shoulders and arms than Jed was so it was a little tight but he wanted to know what Jed thought and he felt a smile tug at his lips as Jed tried to speak a couple of times but couldn’t. He already knew that he had an effect on Jed just like Jed did on him but this was something new and Ben couldn’t deny that he was amused by his boyfriend’s reaction. Jed wasn’t meeting his gaze and Ben tried to move but found it more difficult than he expected. “That’s okay, I don’t want to cause any trouble,” he assured Jed, knowing that that was the last thing he wanted. Pulling the t shirt off, Ben set it down on the chair by the desk leaving his torso bare. “I can sleep like this if you don’t mind,” he offered, knowing that the bottoms Jed had given him to wear were enough for him to be comfortable in. – I freed myself from words never said –
“Yeah, you’re definitely not wrong there.” Jed bit down on his bottom lip a moment later before he released a soft sigh. “It’s okay, though. The villains in the movies aren’t as shitty as our villains.” Jed assured him in a soft tone of his voice, his lips stretching to form a soft smile. Jed nodded his head in agreement with Ben because he had no doubt that it will be plenty interesting. When Ben revealed that he was making it up as he went along, his eyes widened slightly. Oh wow, so it seemed like they both were just making it up as they went along, huh? It was definitely a good thing to know. “No wonder we’re really good at this.” Jed said with a chuckle falling from his lips. It wasn’t a sarcastic remark but a genuine one.
Jed was wondering if he had somehow fallen asleep downstairs and if this was all a dream as he stared at Ben’s naked chest. He gulped harshly past the lump in his throat as he blinked a few times. He was tempted to pinch himself just to make sure that he wasn’t hallucinating or even asleep at this point. “Uh…” Jed’s lips parted and closed a few times as he struggled to form a proper sentence without sounding like a malfunctioning robot trying to reboot. “That’s… That’s fine with, uh, with me, yeah. That’s more than fine.” Jed finally brought his eyes up to meet Ben’s gaze as he let out a breathless chuckle, his cheeks still hot as ever. “As long as you’re, uh, comfortable.” Jed added a moment later as his eyes slowly moved down to rest on Ben’s chest before he quickly looked back up again. How could someone look so muscular? Dear god.
“C–come on, get comfortable in bed. I’ll, um, I’ll stare— Change. I’m going to change.” Jed’s head was almost foggy. He really had no idea that Ben was capable of messing him up like this. Jed pushed himself up from his bed with another clear of his throat, his hands almost trembling with the urge to touch Ben. Keep it together, Jed. Keep it together. Jed told himself again and again as he began making his way to his wardrobe but almost ended up walking into Ben. Jed stopped and stepped back. “Sorry.” Jed passed by Ben so he could head to his wardrobe to change out of his clothes into something a little more comfortable. He considered changing in the bathroom but he changed his mind because he wasn’t uncomfortable with changing in front of Ben. Quite the opposite, actually. Jed picked a random t-shirt and sweatpants and placed them on the chair before he started getting undressed so that he could put on the new outfit. Jed fixed the collar of his shirt once he was done getting dressed and finally turned to look at Ben, his heart speeding up again. “Oh dear god,” Jed mumbled mostly to himself because Ben was right there, shirtless and looking incredibly hot and Jed was trying his damn hardest not to drool. “Okay, uh… Let’s, um, let’s get some sleep.”

“That’s good because I don’t think I’d like the movies if they were,” Ben admitted. He knew that he was far too old to still have issues with his father but Ben knew that he would never be able to forgive the angel for what he had done. It was because of him that Ben had spent thousands of years being hunted down and killed by more monsters than Ben cared to remember and he knew that he never wanted to understand why someone like that would do the things they did, let alone support them. As Jed said it was no wonder that they were really good at this, Ben felt a smile touch his lips. “I think that’s why we’re so good together, we’re figuring it all out together as we go along,” he said, his expression softening as he looked over at Jed. There weren’t any expectations on either side, they were just there for each other and Ben knew that he wouldn’t have it any other way. Ben wasn’t sure what he had expected when he’d asked Jed if it would be okay if he slept without a shirt on but it definitely wasn’t for Jed’s mouth to open and close a few times as he struggled to find the words. “I can put the shirt I wore here back on if you prefer, I just don’t want to stretch anything of yours,” Ben said quickly, hoping that Jed would understand. Soon enough Jed was breaking the silence, though, and Ben felt a smile touch his lips. “I am,” he nodded as Jed said it was fine as long as he was comfortable. There were times during the summer when he found it too hot to sleep in a shirt anyway and there were other times when he was low on clothes if the monster attacks were particularly frequent and didn’t want to waste a shirt by sleeping in it so it really didn’t bother him one bit. Ben knew that he should perhaps feel self-conscious letting Jed see him without a shirt on for the first time but the truth was that he didn’t, he felt completely comfortable around Jed. Whether Jed was really comfortable with it was something that was a different matter entirely, though, and Ben couldn’t ignore the way that Jed’s face had gone red or the way that Jed’s gaze kept drifting down to his chest. They had distracted each other enough earlier while they were trying to study but this was something else entirely it seemed although Ben couldn’t bring himself to think of it as a bad thing. As Jed said that he would stare before correcting himself, Ben’s expression softened. “You can stare if you want to, you’re the only one I want to see me like this,” he shrugged, knowing that he really didn’t mind. “It’s okay, you don’t need to apologise,” Ben assured him as Jed almost walked into him. Moving out of the way so that Jed could get to the wardrobe, Ben settled himself down on the bed and averted his gaze as Jed changed, not wanting to make Jed feel self-conscious if he could help it although as he looked up at Jed once he’d finished changing Ben couldn’t deny that the way Jed’s hair now looked dishevelled along with the reality of the fact that they were going to be spending the night together was enough to make Ben’s breath catch in his throat. Ben was just about able to hear what Jed had mumbled to himself and Ben’s eyes widened in surprise. “Are you okay?” he asked, unable to deny that he was concerned. As Jed said they should get some sleep Ben nodded and he threw the quilt back so Jed could join him, not sure whether Jed would want to stay on one side of the bed while he was on the other or whether he would want to cuddle. Ben had had one night stands but he had never stayed the night with anyone before so he knew that he would follow Jed’s lead. JED SALTZMAN

Jed didn’t blame Ben in the slightest for that. He would have felt exactly the same way too. Movies and TV series were often used as an escape from reality and he would absolutely hate it if his only escape reminded him of his father when he had spent so long trying to forget about the man and the abuse that he went through because of him. Jed knew that Ben wasn’t wrong at all when he told him that they were so good together because they were figuring it all out together. “That’s actually pretty true, yeah.” It was definitely a pretty accurate way to describe their relationship. It also explained how they got along pretty well like that.
“No!” Jed replied almost right away when Ben told him that he could wear his shirt back if he preferred. “I don’t prefer that. This is, um, this is fine.” Jed assured him with a nervous smile forming on his lips not long after, unable to deny the fact that his heart was beating rapidly as he stared at Ben without meaning to. He just couldn’t look away.
Jed could feel the air getting sucked out of his lungs as he listened to Ben effortlessly tell him that he could stare if he wanted to, his next words effortlessly making his knees feel weak. Ben was really tugging at his restraints and Jed was trying his hardest not to close the distance and kiss him breathless right then and there. “Ben, I—” Jed gulped past the lump in his throat, his eyes zeroed in on Ben. “You have no idea what you do to me…” Jed breathed out. He can’t pretend that Ben wasn’t affecting him. He was pretty sure his expression was giving it all away.
“Huh—? Oh! Yeah, I’m, uh, I’m great.” Jed quickly assured him as his lips stretched to form a soft smile. He approached Ben and sat down on the bed at first before he finally laid down and turned to look at Ben, his hand resting under his head, supporting it along with the pillow. “Hi.” Jed greeted with a smile forming on his lips already as he looked into Ben’s eyes. “This is actually my first time having someone in my bed.” Jed admitted with a breathless chuckle falling from his lips. “I kinda don’t know what to do. Do you wanna fall asleep like this? Or?”

The fact that there were people out there who could actually root for villains was proof that Ben had a lot to learn as far as he was concerned. Right now he didn’t understand how it was possible but Ben had a feeling that he would find out soon enough. He had already seen that things weren’t as black or white as he had once thought they were, the world had changed so much since he was young so he knew that perhaps this was just another one of those things. Either way he was looking forward to finding out and he knew that it would give him the perfect excuse to spend more time with Jed which was never going to be a bad thing. “It’s nice being able to work this all out together. We’re able to do this our way,” he nodded. If Jed had been in a relationship before then Ben knew that he might have had certain expectations about how things were going to go but that wasn’t the case and for that he really was glad. Right now they were going to be spending the night together for the first time and even though all they were going to be doing was sleeping, Ben still couldn’t shake the feeling that this was a big step for them. All he wanted right now was for Jed to feel comfortable and if that meant going to sleep in the same clothes he had been wearing that day then Ben knew that he would do it. Almost straight away Jed protested, though, and Ben nodded. “Alright,” he said, unable to deny that he felt more comfortable this way. “What is it, Jed?” he asked, his eyes concerned as he looked over at Jed. As Jed said he had no idea what he did to him, Ben’s expression softened. “I’m pretty sure I do to you exactly what you do to me,” he said, a gentle smile touching his lips as he looked over at his boyfriend. As Jed climbed into bed and turned to look at him, Ben felt his smile widen. “Hi,” he said, reaching forward and brushing a few stray strands of Jed’s hair away from his face. “This is a first for me too,” he admitted. He hadn’t spent the night with anyone else and he was glad that he had waited for Jed. As Jed asked if they should fall asleep like this or some other way, Ben’s expression turned thoughtful for a moment. “This might sound a bit strange but would you be okay if we cuddled?” he asked, pretty sure that that was the right word. It was one thing to sleep on the bed next to each other but that wasn’t what he wanted, he wanted to have some connection to Jed while they slept. JED SALTZMAN
