– I freed myself from words never said –
It’s nothing to be embarrassed about, if anything it makes me feel even luckier that you waited for me to come along,
Ben was right about that. There was no reason for him to be embarrassed about that. Honestly, Jed was pretty glad that Ben was his first in a lot of things. He was his first kiss, the first guy he's ever caught feelings for, the first person to be invited to his home. "You're right. There's nothing to be embarrassed about and you know what? I'm pretty glad that you're the first person I'm inviting over." Jed said with a soft smile resting on his lips. He wouldn't have it any other way, really.
I think you might be right, I’ve moved around a lot and sometimes I had to leave at a moment’s notice so there was never much point in learning to cook just for me and having to leave everything behind,
Jed was quiet as he listened to Ben, his eyes relaxing on him once again before his expression turned into a sympathetic one. "Okay, here's what we're gonna do." Jed turned a little so that he could face Ben and also brought his chair a little closer to the other's. "You're gonna learn how to cook, you're gonna do all the things you never got the chance to do because of your curse. I'm pretty sure Jenna would love to teach you her ways. How does that sound? You can even make me something. I eat pretty much anything." Jed's shoulders lifted and dropped in a quick shrug, his smile still resting on his lips. "I want you to do all the things you never got the chance to do because you had to always be on the move. I want you to experience life to the fullest."
I’m happy for you, I don’t believe that, you’re stronger than you know,
Jed's lips stretched to form a soft smile when Ben told him that he was happy for him. "Thank you." Jed was pretty happy about it, too. He was happy to finally have a supportive family to call his own. Jed looked over at Ben when he told him that he was stronger than he knows. His words were definitely enough to make his heart skip a beat as his smile came back to his lips in an instant. "You actually have so much faith in me." Jed breathed out with a soft chuckle falling from his lips. "Thank you for that." He could already feel himself falling harder and harder for Ben.
We’ll have to try not to distract each other then, You’re the only person who has ever called me that, I think you should,
"Emphasis on try." Jed pointed out a moment later with a chuckle falling from his lips not long after. He was definitely going to try and be a bit productive at least, but then again, he knew he wouldn't be able to, especially since Ben would be right there with him. He was all too distracting and Jed was a weak, weak man. "Well, it's definitely the truth. The way you say things... Drives me crazy, honestly. In a good way." Jed could feel his breath hitch the sound that Ben touched him, his heart leaping in a way that knocked the breath out of his lungs. He had never met someone who affected him that much before. Jed's eyes moved lower to settle on Ben's lips as his words soon broke the silence that was starting to fill with tension and unspoken desire.
Jed looked up from Ben's lips to meet his eyes only to find him looking at his lips, too. "I think I should, too." Jed initiated the second kiss and leaned forward to close the gap between them to press his lips against Ben's, finally satiating his own needs as his hand carefully moved up to rest on Ben's cheek, bringing him closer to himself as he allowed himself to finally taste Ben's lips again, to feel them against his own. It was nothing short of addictive and electrifying.

Ben knew that things were so different to the way they used to be. The world was much more open minded now than it ever was while he was growing up and for that he was grateful. It meant that he and Jed had the chance to be together without really worrying about what other people thought so much but the same old problems still remained. He couldn’t deny that it was cute the way that Jed seemed to get embarrassed when he’d said that he was the first person he’d invited over but there really wasn’t any need for him to feel that way as far as Ben was concerned. “I am too,” Ben admitted, a smile touching his lips as he looked over at Jed. “Besides. I’ll be happy to accept whatever first with you I can get,” he added, his expression softening as their eyes met. Jed really was special to him and Ben knew that he wanted to make the most of everything with him. Everything that had happened lately was so unexpected but Ben knew that none of it was bad, in fact it was quite the opposite. He wasn’t used to feeling like this about anyone and he definitely wasn’t used to having someone care about him as much as Jed did. The guy really had gone out of his way to help him so far and words couldn’t even begin to describe how glad Ben was that Jed had come into his life. As he spoke again the decisive tone in Jed’s voice was enough to have Ben’s eyes widening and a smile slowly touched his lips. “I love the sound of that,” he admitted. “For the first time it feels like I can build a real life here and that’s all thanks to you,” he added gently. “If you’re sure Jenna won’t mind then I’m in although, to put it in your parlance, it sounds like you might want to be, what’s the phrase, a kept man?” he teased, his smile turning playful as he looked over at Jed. The truth was that Ben didn’t mind one bit, there was so much that he hadn’t had the chance to do before but now he wanted to change that. “Honestly as long as we can do some of the things together then I won’t say no.”Ben really was glad that Jed had found people who cared about him as much as the Saltzmans did. He had been through so much more than he ever should have had to go through with his dad but he had a good family around him now and Ben really was happy for him. “Of course I do, you haven’t given me any reason not to,” Ben assured him gently. “You might not see yourself the way I see you right now but I hope that in time you will.” Jed didn’t give himself nearly enough credit from Ben’s point of view so he knew that if he had to keep reminding Jed of the way Ben saw him then he would do it. “Why do I get the feeling we’re going to be really bad at focusing on schoolwork?” Ben chuckled, unable to deny that he felt a little better knowing that he seemed to distract Jed just as much as Jed distracted him. “That’s never my intention but I’m glad it’s in a good way,” he said gently as he ran the backs of his fingers down Jed’s cheek lightly. “Just one look from you is enough to drive me crazy.” It had been that way right from the start and Ben really had missed it during the time that Jed had stayed away from the school. This was still all so new to him but if this was what it felt like to truly like someone then Ben knew that he wouldn’t want to give it up. As Jed said that he wanted to kiss him, Ben’s words were automatic and his expression softened as Jed agreed with him. Moments later Jed’s lips were pressing against his own and Jed’s hand found his cheek. Without even thinking about it Ben leaned into his touch and shifted closer to Jed so there wasn’t quite as much distance between them, his hands resting on Jed’s arms as he kissed him back. Once again it was only when he needed to catch his breath that he pulled back slightly but this time he let his forehead rest lightly against Jed’s. “I could really get used to that,” he breathed as his eyes met Jed’s, knowing that he was already starting to grow addicted to kissing Jed. – I freed myself from words never said –
Jed's lips stretched to form a soft smile at that as he listened to Ben, unable to deny the fact that his heartbeat stuttered all thanks to him saying that. When he came to the realization that Ben had missed out on a lot of things in his life because he was always on the run from the monsters that were trying to hurt him, he realized that now it was up to him to try everything in his might to make sure that Ben got to try those things out. He wanted him to get the full experience of life, he wanted him to try the things that Jed took for granted. Jed was definitely not going to take those things for granted from here on out, though. "It's the least that I can do, honestly." Jed said with a soft smile tugging at the corner of his lips. His brows quirked up as he listened to Ben, his head tilting slightly to the side before a chuckle erupted from his lips before he could stop it. "Oh my god." He said between his laughter. "I can't deny that I'd love to get spoiled by you a bit, yeah." Jed said with a grin forming on his lips. "Perfect! It's sorted, then."
Jed's expression softened at Ben's words, unable to deny the fact that his words really did mean a lot to Jed. It was exactly what Jed had wanted to hear and more. There was definitely no denying that. "I can't deny the fact that I'm eager to see myself the way you see me." Jed said with the same soft smile resting on his lips.
Jed chuckled almost immediately before he pointed his index finger. "Because we're definitely going to be really bad at focusing on schoolwork. We probably won't even finish a single sentence without getting distracted." Jed said with yet another chuckle falling from his lips. "That's exactly how I feel about you, too." There was no denying the fact that Ben affected him. A lot. One look from him would honestly be enough to make his heart skip a beat.
Jed's heart was hammering in his ears and he could feel all the blood rushing to his face as he allowed his forehead to rest against Ben's, his lips tingling pleasantly after the kiss had ended. "Honestly?" Jed licked his lips, catching the taste of Ben on them. "Me too." Jed admitted in a soft voice before he eventually leaned back with the same smile still on his lips. "Do you wanna, uh, head back inside? I should drop you off and get back home before it gets too late. We have school tomorrow." Jed suggested, his eyes focused on Ben still. It was probably a good thing to call it a night there or else he might close the gap between them and kiss Ben again.

Ben had almost given up hope of ever having the chance to live a normal life again. He had lost count of the amount of monsters that had come after him since he was cursed, in the beginning he had done his best to fight them off and he had killed a lot of those that had attacked him but he had eventually realised that he was only delaying the inevitable. Sooner or later they were going to catch up with him and when that happened it would only be all the more painful when they did eventually kill him. There hadn’t really seemed like there was much point in trying to build a life with all of that going on but now Ben knew that he wanted nothing more than to have a life in Mystic Falls, a life where his being there wouldn’t end up putting the people he was quickly starting to care about in danger. He wasn’t sure if he would ever get the latter but he was going to try and as Jed spoke, a smile touched Ben’s lips. “No, it is more than most would do. You have no idea how much I appreciate all of this, all that you have done for me,” he said gently. He had been let down by people who had claimed to have a way to help him so many times but with Jed he honestly believed everything that the guy said. As Jed started laughing, Ben’s expression turned to one of concern. “Did I say that wrong?” he asked. He didn’t think he had but he knew that he could be wrong. As Jed said that he would love to get spoiled by him, however, Ben felt a smile touch his lips. “That’s good because I intend on finding ways to spoil you,” he admitted. Jed deserved that and so much more and Ben knew that he wanted to make this work. “I’m looking forward to it,” he grinned as Jed said it was sorted. “In time I hope you will but fear not, I plan on reminding you of the way I see you whenever you doubt yourself,” Ben assured him. He knew that Jed lacked confidence in himself sometimes, that was something that had been clear to Ben ever since that first day, but Ben knew that he was guilty of it himself as well. He didn’t want Jed to keep going through life like that, though, so he knew that he would keep on reminding Jed when he needed to. “You’ve got a point there,” Ben chuckled, knowing that chances were Jed was going to end up being right about that. “Perhaps we’ll have to talk Josie into studying with us and making sure that we don’t get too distracted,” he grinned. He hoped it wouldn’t come to that but if they had to then he knew that they would figure something out. As Jed said that he felt the same way, Ben’s expression softened. “I haven’t felt this way about anyone in thousands of years. I hope you know you’re really special to me,” he said gently. He really wasn’t used to feeling this way at all but he was glad that he’d found that special someone in Jed. As Jed agreed that he could get used to kissing him, Ben’s smile returned. “Maybe we should do that more often,” he grinned, knowing that he wouldn’t argue if they had the chance. “We should, I need to let you get home,” he nodded even though he knew that he really didn’t want to. Getting to his feet, Ben turned and held his hands out to Jed. “Come on, let’s get back.”JED SALTZMAN
