Jenna thought it was crazy how she left her home with Alaric with the babies still not born only for her to return home with one in her arms and the other in Alaric's. "Look, Josie. It's your home." Jenna cooed softly at her daughter. "Let's go inside~" Jenna felt okay. Well, as okay as she can be after giving birth to twins. It had been a stressful experience but she knew that she wouldn't change it for the world. Knew that what she had was special and shouldn't be taken for granted. Jenna looked over her shoulder to check Alaric with Lizzie. Seeing him cradle their daughter like that was so... heart-warming. She really couldn't bring herself to look away but she had to as she needed to head to the door so that she could get them inside the warm home. "Look~ All the Christmas decorations are still up for you two." Jenna leaned down and pressed a soft kiss on her daughter's forehead. Jenna cooed when she saw Josie yawn after looking around for a little bit with her curious yet gorgeous eyes. "Aw, am I boring you, missy?" Jenna teased with a chuckle falling from her lips. "Fine. I'll let you off since you're so cute."
Jenna turned to look at Ric again, her grin could still be seen on her lips. "Lizzie is such a daddy's girl. She threw a fuss when I was holding her. Look at how calm she is right now." Jenna made her way over to Ric and Lizzie to look at her, cooing at her peaceful expression. She looked really at ease in Ric's arms. It was absolutely endearing to see. "Yup. Daddy's girl alright." Jenna teased, leaning down to peck Lizzie's cheek while holding Josie securely. "This still feels so... Surreal, doesn't it?"

Ric had been thinking about the day when he and Jenna would be able to bring the twins home for quite some time but for a while he had started to think that the day would never come. As it happened the twins had decided to make an appearance a little early and now he and Jenna were finally free to bring them home where they belonged. The hospital had become a safe space in a way since there were plenty of people around to help if something happened but Ric knew that they were going to have that at home too. All of the kids were going to be around them and he didn’t doubt that their friends would check in often as well so he knew that he wouldn’t have it any other way. He, Jenna and the kids had all been working on making the house their home since they moved in but without the twins it hadn’t seemed quite complete so it was a relief to finally be able to change that now. It was a little overwhelming but it was the day they had been waiting for and even though he was nervous he had been looking forward to it as well. “We’re home sweetheart,” Ric said gently to the sleeping Lizzie in his arms. Jenna had Josie with her and given how quiet Josie was being he wouldn’t be surprised if she was asleep too. “They might not have been here for Christmas but at least they can see the decorations,” he said, a smile working its way across his face as he looked over at Jenna. He knew how much she had wanted the girls to be there with them for Christmas and he had too but they weren’t ready to join them just yet. Now they were and it only seemed right that they should get to share in the celebrations a little as well. “How it Josie doing?” he asked, his smile widening as he joined Jenna inside the house and looked down at the little girl in her arms. “Lizzie might be a daddy’s girl but Josie looks happy with you,” he admitted, one hand falling to Jenna’s waist as he pressed a gentle kiss to her lips. “It’s definitely surreal but I’m glad we’re home,” he admitted as they stepped further into the house. “How are you feeling?” he asked, not sure whether or not Jenna was both nervous and pleased right now the same way he was. Jenna never thought the day would come where she would hold the tiny form of a baby in her arms. It felt so... surreal, really. She just wanted nothing more than to hold onto her girls for as long as she possibly could without sparing a second for the world to hurt them. She never wanted anything bad to befall her daughters now that they were here in her arms. As much as she wanted to pinch herself to see if she was really alive after all, she knew better than to do that. She felt alive now more than ever as she looked down at her daughter's small form. She was so tiny that Jenna sometimes worried that she'd hurt her by holding on a little too tightly for the little one's liking but her worries soon washed away the longer she held her and Lizzie. "Exactly. I'm glad we still have them up. It still feels so festive in here even though it's January already." Jenna said with a soft chuckle falling from her lips.
Jenna looked over at her husband when he asked how Josie was doing. "She's feeling very sleepy right now, so she might go night night any time soon." Jenna said with a soft chuckle following. She looked at Josie once again, noticing just how happy she was in her arms which made something serene wash over her in that particular moment. "She does." Jenna agreed in a soft voice, her happiness evident in her eyes before they fluttered shut to return the kiss with one of her own, her body leaning against Ric's, her smile returning shortly after the kiss. "God. Me too. If I ate one more ice chip in there, I would've lost my mind." Jenna wrinkled her nose in distaste. "I'm feeling happy. Like, really happy. But also a little nervous. I've waited for this moment for nine whole months and now, they're here and in my arms. I've never felt happier, Ric." Jenna said with a soft smile resting on her lips. "This is just... perfect."

Even though they’d had nine months to get used to the idea of this day Ric couldn’t deny that he was still nervous about it. The staff at the hospital had been a safety net but now they were on their own and he couldn’t help but worry that something was going to happen but he knew that he just had to believe that they knew what they were doing. Looking down at the sleeping Lizzie in his arms was enough to make Ric’s heart swell with love for the little girl and he knew that there wasn’t anything that he wouldn’t do for her or Josie the same way that there wasn’t anything that he wouldn’t do for Jenna or the rest of the kids. Thankfully they had an amazing support system around them and two older brothers and two older sisters who would be on hand to help out when they needed it so he knew that they were much better off than they would have been if they were on their own. They also had a great group of friends around them and he didn’t doubt that there would probably be a cue at their door of their friends wanting to meet the two girls before too long so he knew to make the most of these moments while they lasted. “It’s our way of celebrating finally being able to bring them home,” Ric said, a smile working its way across his face as he wrapped his free arm around Jenna’s waist. Things were going to be different from now on but he knew that that wasn’t a bad thing. They already had four kids to look after but now they had the twins as well and a wedding to plan once they’d set a date on top of that but he knew that he wouldn’t have it any other way. “Lizzie is the same. It might be time to see what they think of their new room soon,” he nodded. It had taken a while to get it right but he knew that it would definitely be worth it. Josie really did look happy in Jenna’s arms and as Jenna said that she would have lost her mind if she’d had to eat one more ice chip, Ric couldn’t help but laugh. “Don’t worry, you won’t have to eat those again. Are you hungry?” he asked, knowing that he could make something for her quite easily if the answer to that question was yes. “I’m nervous too but I know we can do this and at least we’re doing this together,” he said as he kissed her forehead gently. They honestly could do anything as long as they were together and he knew that this wouldn’t be any different. “It is,” he nodded before looking down at their daughters. “This is your home girls, you’re going to be really happy here.”JENNA SALTZMAN

It’s our way of celebrating finally being able to bring them home, Lizzie is the same. It might be time to see what they think of their new room soon, Don’t worry, you won’t have to eat those again. Jenna felt a smile touch her lips at Ric's words as she nodded her head a couple of times. "Yeah. Yeah, you're right." She said, her tone soft. "Next year, they'll be able to see the lights a little clearer. See us a little better." She added a moment later, her expression softening as she looked down at her daughter, her expression full of love and affection for her daughter.
Jenna's lips formed a small 'o' at Ric's words before she nodded her head a few times. "Absolutely. Let's go see it. I'm excited to see it, too." She had a feeling that they worked so hard to get it right. She felt a soft smile touch her lips. "Thank goodness." She breathed out with a soft smile on her lips. "Absolutely. I'm always hungry." Jenna said with a chuckle following.
Jenna felt happy to hear that. "Together." She repeated, her voice softening. "We'll make sure of it, little ones." She added with a soft smile on her lips. "Let's go put them in their new rooms and get something to eat, yeah?"

The girls were safe at the hospital with Jenna but Ric couldn’t deny that he had been looking forward to finally being able to get the three of them home. He was so proud of the home that he, Jenna and the kids had built together and even though Christmas had already come and gone they had left the lights and decorations up so that the girls could see the lights even though they wouldn’t be able to see them all that clearly at the moment. He and Jenna had both hoped that they might get to spend their first Christmas in their new home with the girls but it hadn’t worked out that way so he knew that they were going to have to do that later that year instead and he was okay with that. One thing he had already realised was that the girls were going to do things in their own time and something told him that they were going to keep the two of them on their toes as they got older. “They will. Next Christmas we’ll make it really special for them,” Ric nodded. He knew that the girls wouldn’t remember any of it but that didn’t matter. He, Jenna and the kids would remember and the memories of the family being together were the ones that he knew that he was always going to cherish the most. “What are you in the mood for?” he asked, knowing that whatever it was he would be happy to go along with it. Jenna’s words were enough to bring a smile to Ric’s face and he nodded. “Sounds good to me,” he said as he led the way upstairs to the girls’ room. He had enlisted Elena’s help to decorate it and they had gone all out with flowers and other pictures painted onto the walls, fairy lights on the ceiling and other little touches as well so he just hoped that Jenna was going to like it. Opening the door, Ric stepped aside to let Jenna enter first as he eagerly waited to see what her reaction was going to be. “What do you think?”JENNA SALTZMAN

They will. Next Christmas we’ll make it really special for them,
Jenna felt a small smile touch her lips at that. "Yes we will," she said with a pleased little smile resting on her lips. "Christmas Tree, gifts, new clothes. We can dress them as little elves, they'd look so cute." Jenna coo'd down at her daughters with a grin resting on her lips shortly after.
What are you in the mood for?
"Mmm, Pizza and chicken wings, maybe?" Jenna offered with a grin resting on her lips. "I'm in the mood for something greasy and that would really hit the spot for me." Jenna said wit ha quick nod of her head following, her stomach almost grumbling at the thought of getting some delicious food in her. Gosh, it sounded so good and so tempting already. She could feel her mouth watering just at the idea of it.
What do you think?
Jenna let out a soft gasp at that as she looked around her, her eyes filled with so much happiness and love in that moment. "Oh my god, Ric." She breathed out as she looked around her, enjoying how beautiful the room looked. "It's so, so beautiful." She added a moment later, her voice still soft. "I really, really love it. Thank you." Jenna turned to look at Ric. "I can tell you guys poured your heart into it. It's so sweet of you. Thank you."

It still felt a little surreal that they were actually bringing their girls home for the first time. Ric knew that he and Jenna had both been looking forward to this for quite some time and he couldn’t deny that it was perfect. All of the Christmas decorations had been left as they were so that the girls could share them too and even though they both would have loved to have shared Christmas with the girls they hadn’t decided to make their appearance until after it was all over so Ric knew that they were just going to have to wait until the following year instead. “I don’t think they’d thank us for that when they’re older though,” Ric chuckled. He knew that Jenna was right and it would be cute but he was pretty sure that those weren’t photos that the girls would want them to share when they were older. It didn’t really matter too much though as he knew that they would do everything they could in order to make the next Christmas just as special as the last one. The girls hadn’t been there to share it when them but Ric had asked Jenna to marry him that day and that wasn’t something that he regretted one bit. He had never loved anyone as much as he loved her and now that their family had grown even more he was looking forward to being able to spend the rest of his life with his family and the woman he loved. “That works for me,” he nodded as Jenna said that she was in the mood for pizza and chicken wings. They had both in the house which meant that they didn’t have to worry about ordering anything to be delivered and Ric put the food in the oven before they headed upstairs so that he could show Jenna the nursery. He and Elena had decorated the room together and he would be lying if he said that he wasn’t a little nervous considering that the last thing he wanted was for Jenna to hate what they had done with the room but the look in her eyes was enough to put him at ease instantly. “You do?” he asked, wrapping his free arm around Jenna’s waist as she turned to face him. “You’ve been doing so much that we wanted to do something special for you and the girls,” he explained gently as he pressed a kiss to her lips. He really was surprised that Jenna had let them decorate the room anyway but the fact that she had meant the world to him. “Hopefully the girls will like it too.”JENNA SALTZMAN

I don’t think they’d thank us for that when they’re older though,,
Jenna chuckled at Ric's words before her shoulders lifted and dropped in a quick shrug. "It won't be so bad. We'll just have to take pictures because I doubt we'll ever be able to put them in those costumes again." Jenna said with another laugh following, her heart growing fond at the idea of her dressing up her kids and taking pictures of them. It would be insanely cute, wouldn't it?
Jenna's eyes softened at Ric's words before she kissed him back. "You didn't have to. Having you by my side is more than enough for me, honestly." She said in a soft voice as she reached out to brush her hand against his cheek, letting her thumb trace soothing circles over his skin. "I love you." And she meant it. She'd always meant it when she said it. She had so much love in her heart for the man in front of her. For always being there for her. For always trying his hardest to cheer her up. He was amazing in every sense of the word, really. "I'm sure they will. They're too young to appreciate all the hard work right now, but I'm sure they will appreciate it when they're older." Jenna leaned down to give a gentle kiss on her daughter's forehead. "Our little princesses." She said in a fond voice, her eyes focused on them for a moment before her eyes settled on Ric again. "I love you." She repeated her words from earlier once more and once again, she meant them.

“I can’t believe you’re one of those moms already,” Ric laughed, his tone light and teasing as he looked over at Jenna. He had never understood why people did that in the past but now they had the twins he was starting to see why it might be appealing for some. He hadn’t had the chance to be there to watch Kyle and Abby grow up but he had the chance to do things the right way with Lizzie and Josie and he knew that he didn’t want to waste a minute of it. “Either way there’ll be lots of pictures,” he added, pretty sure that Jenna would know why he wanted to document everything without him even having to tell her. He didn’t have any photos of Kyle or Abby while they were growing up other than a couple he’d managed to salvage from the house before everything was packed up but none of them contained memories that he had shared with the kids and he didn’t want that to be the case with the girls. “I know but I wanted to. You’ve been there for me through everything and I guess this is my way of showing you that I’m going to be there for you and the girls too.” Jenna had stood by him through everything with Isobel and she had done the same thing when Kyle and Abby had come into his life. It hadn’t always been smooth sailing for the two of them but Jenna had stuck with him when so many others wouldn’t have bothered and he loved the life and the family they had built together. As she said that she loved him, he felt a smile touch his lips and he leaned forward to press her once more. “I love you too,” he said gently. Those words were the truth, what he felt for Jenna was so much stronger than anything he’d ever felt before and he knew that he had managed to get it right this time so he was determined not to mess it up. “I hope so. I know we should probably get them settled but I’m not sure I’m ready to put her down just yet,” he admitted as he looked down at the little girl in his arms who was fast asleep. As Jenna repeated her words from earlier, Ric wrapped his free arm around her. “And I love you,” he said as he kissed her cheek gently. “So much.”JENNA SALTZMAN
