Graduation was fast approaching and Elena couldn’t wait. She had always known that she would go off to college after high school ended but the truth was that her classes had been a lot more difficult than she had thought they would be. She had split her time between a dorm and the house she shared with Jenna, Alaric and the rest of the family and she knew that it had been the right decision. It had meant she’d had the space she needed to study when she had exams or assignments due but she’d also been able to go home and see her family as often as she wanted to. Elena knew that she could have gone to pretty much any school and studied what she’d wanted to but Whitmore had been the only choice as far as she was concerned. It was where all of her friends were going and it wasn’t that far from Mystic Falls so she’d been able to be on hand in case of any emergencies. It had been a shock to the system switching majors from pre-med to journalism to start with but Elena knew that she had done the right thing. She hadn’t even thought about it when she’d applied for pre-med, it had been her dream for as long as she could remember but being a vampire meant that she sometimes struggled being around blood and it had certainly proved to be the case pretty soon into the start of her freshman year. Deep down Elena knew that she had only wanted to become a doctor to make her parents proud, her dad had been a doctor and she’d wanted to follow in his footsteps but her real passion was writing so the truth was that journalism was the much better choice for her. She had already applied for some jobs and was waiting to hear back but she hoped at least one of them would work out. For now Elena knew that she just needed to take it one step at a time and the first thing she needed to do was to empty out her room on campus. It was a little bittersweet but Elena knew that this chapter of her life was coming to an end and soon enough a new one would be beginning. School was all that Elena had known so far so it was more than a little scary to be stepping out into the big wide world but she knew what she wanted to do and she had her family and friends around her for support so she knew that she was going to be just fine. As it was Jenna had agreed to help her empty her room and get everything back home and Elena offered her a smile as she tucked the boxes she was carrying under her arm so she could unlock the door. “Thanks for this Jenna, I really appreciate it,” she said sincerely as she pushed the door open so they could both head inside. “I know how busy you are with everything right now,” she added. Jenna had a school to run and everything going on with Raziel but she had still set aside the time to help and that meant a lot to Elena. “Are you sure you don’t mind me moving back in full time for now?” she asked. Jed had already moved out to live with Ben but even so there was already Jenna and Ric, Kyle, Abby, Jeremy, Josie and Lizzie living there. She had still spent some nights and every holiday at home with her family but she knew that was different to being back there full time. JENNA SALTZMAN

being soft doesn’t make you fragile. it’s the brittle metals that break.

– don't be afraid to love, to be vulnerable –
Jenna knew that time waited for no one and things often change whether you want them to or not. The true testament to time moving a little too fast would be the fact that she's currently on her way to Elena's dorm room to help her pack her things so that she could move back in with them. Of course she was happy that she was moving in with her again, it was just that it made her realize just how quickly time had passed because now Elena was about to graduate. She was so proud of her for powering through her years at Whitmore and she knew that the future will hold great things for Elena because that's exactly what she deserved.
When Elena opened the door, Jenna's smile was immediate. "Oh, please. This is the perfect chance to distract me from everything that's going on, so I will gladly take it." Jenna assured her with a gentle smile resting on her lips. "Absolutely not, Elena. It's your home, too. You're always welcome. Nothing's going to change that." Jenna assured her as she began to put her hair up in a ponytail to really get into business. "Alright. Where are we gonna start first?"
