I know what it's like to think of yourself as a monster
MG felt a gentle smile form on his lips at Ethan's words. It made him really happy to hear Ethan say that. He meant just as much to him. He had no idea what he'd do without Ethan in his life. He made him happy. Incredibly so. "Exactly. It might look pretty dim at first, but then it starts looking much better once you find the right people." MG said with a quick nod of his head following, his arms crossed in front of his chest as he kept his eyes fixed on Ethan, making sure to watch him for any change that might ring any alarm bells. "I told him you keep beatin' me at football." MG pretended to be serious before his lips stretched into a grin not long after. "As if I would ever find something negative 'bout you to talk about, E." MG added a moment later, no longer joking around. He meant every word that he said. "I'm sure. I'm pretty sure that he wanted you to drop by, but I just wanted to keep protecting you from the supernatural world for a little bit longer." That's not to say that he doesn't believe Stefan or the others would be able to control themselves around Ethan, he was just... a bit overprotective when it came to Ethan.
"I'd always help you, E. No matter what." MG promised and he meant every word. It didn't matter how hard it got, he would always be there for Ethan, helping him every step of the way. He owed that much to Ethan after turning him into a vampire. "Of course. I'll talk to them." He knew what he was going to do tomorrow morning to make sure that Ethan doesn't have to go back to Whitmore College. "And I really hope that you never have to find that out, E." MG said a moment later. "That's what I thought, too. But I'm afraid that hunters are everywhere and here, you have all of us." MG was going to do everything he could to protect Ethan and even though he felt like he had no right to say that after he just failed so miserably to protect Ethan, he wanted to do better. No, he was going to do better next time, no matter what.
MG nodded his head slowly as he listened to Ethan. It seemed like he was starting to get it and even though he really can't justify their actions after turning their humanity off, he understands why they felt the need to switch it off. Or, well, he understood most of their reasons. "Exactly." MG voiced his agreement with Ethan not long after. "Yup. It is. I just can't imagine how it must feel to live for that long. You'd think that they're the oldest out there, but I actually, um... I dunno how to say this in a way that won't paint me as crazy, but I actually met an angel and I'm pretty sure they are ageless." MG breathed out a soft chuckle at that. "Oh, there definitely is. It's the epitome of family drama, to be honest." MG said with a chuckle following. "But if you're surprised at that, then I should also let you know that Hope is a vampire, werewolf, and a witch." MG pointed out a few moments later, a half-smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "It definitely took me a while, but being at the school helped me learned all about them." MG admitted with a quick nod of his head following. It was completely normal to feel disoriented about all the supernatural creatures out there in existence, he definitely knew that much. "Don't worry, you'll memorize it all with time." MG said with a gentle smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
MG's lips stretched into a gentle smile when Ethan apologized for what he had gone through. "Thank you, E." MG said in a soft voice. "Um, it's been... ever-changing, you could say. Sometimes, I feel like I've got it all under control, and other times it's just..." MG trailed off with a soft sigh falling from his lips not long after. "A challenge, I guess." That was probably the only way to explain how it all felt without scaring Ethan since he just became a vampire. He decided that the discussion about rippers and how MG was one should wait a little bit.
MG then excused himself so that he could go and open the door for Josie. He greeted her with a tight hug and it earned a smile from MG when she returned the embrace and her assurance that he was always there for her made his smile grow wider. "Sorry." MG offered an apologetic look before he began making his way up to his bedroom where Ethan was. His lips formed a small 'o' when it became clear that Josie and Ethan knew each other. "You know each other?" MG asked, looking between Josie and Ethan. MG watched the two of them as they talked with each other. He watched as Josie worked on the spell and in the meantime, MG's eyes drifted back to where Ethan was, watching him. He couldn't help but remember just how easy it was for those words to almost fall completely from his lips. He gnawed on his bottom lip and brought his attention back to Josie when he saw her hold out the bracelet for Ethan. "Thank you, Jo." MG said with a gentle smile resting on his lips before Ethan's question brought his attention to him. "Uh, now, we just wait for daylight. We'll give it a quick test once the sun comes up, but I'm sure that it will work perfectly. Josie here is one of our best witches. Siphoners. Um. Heretics. She's just, one of our best." MG said with a supportive little smile resting on his lips.
"Now, you just tell me when you're starting to feel hungry and I'll take care of that for you. In the morning, we can start our very first training session. It'll be easy, I promise. I won't overwhelm you. I just figured that the sooner we start, the quicker you can go back to your family." MG wasn't going to start with the heavy stuff right away. He was going to take it easy with Ethan just like how Stefan had taken it easy with him. "Aside from that, though. How are you feeling right now, E?"

“Definitely. It sounds like you’ve found that so I’m happy for you,” Ethan said sincerely, a smile touching his lips as he looked over at his friend. There was nothing worse than feeling like you were completely alone but MG had some great people around him and Ethan was honoured to be one of the people that MG cared about. As MG spoke again before saying he would never find something negative to say about him, Ethan couldn’t help but laugh. “There are bad things, trust me. I’m just used to hiding them,” he chuckled. He didn’t like letting people see his flaws or his vulnerabilities so he was used to keeping them well hidden by now and putting on a confident persona most of the time. It wasn’t always ideal but he was doing his best and he couldn’t do anything more than that. “I get that. I bet it’s not easy for you to open up to new people about all of this but I’ve got your back,” Ethan assured him. He could understand why MG had kept it from him but he didn’t have to do that any longer. “I appreciate that, thank you,” he said sincerely as MG said he would always help him no matter what. “The same goes for you, I’m always here for you,” he assured him. MG meant so much to him, more than Ethan could even put into words right now, and he knew that he was never going to turn his back on the guy. “Thank you. I swear I’ll try not to be too much of a burden,” he said gently. Ethan knew that MG already had a lot going on, after all that was why he had pulled away from him in the first place, and the last thing he wanted was to end up adding to that so he knew that he would try not to lean on MG too much if he could help it. “I hope so too,” Ethan nodded as MG said he hoped he’d never have to find out what would happen if his family didn’t take it well. “That’s true. There’s usually safety in numbers,” he agreed. Ethan couldn’t deny that the thought of hunters scared him but he knew that it wouldn’t have changed his mind about completing the transition anyway. He would be careful just like MG had asked him to be and he would try not to draw too much attention to himself. “Wait, what?” Ethan exclaimed as MG said that he’d met an angel and they were ageless. “Angels are real too?” Ethan had thought that he was doing pretty well getting his head around all of this but that was enough to completely blow his mind. “Next you’ll be telling me that demons are real too.” It sounded completely crazy but then again Ethan was starting to think that perhaps he shouldn’t be surprised by anything anymore. “What was the angel like?” he asked, unable to deny that he was curious. “I can’t wait to hear about it,” he chuckled as MG said about family drama. Now his curiosity was definitely piqued, that was for sure, and he couldn’t wait to find out what the story behind it all was. “So she’s like a, what, Tribrid?” he asked, trying to get his head around what MG had just told him. “How is it possible for people to be more than one thing? I’ve never heard of that before,” Ethan admitted. He had been right earlier when he had thought that he had a lot to learn but something told him that they were only just scratching the surface. “I hope you’re right,” he nodded as MG said he would memorise it all with time. As MG explained about what being a vampire was like for him, Ethan’s expression softened. “I’m sorry,” he said gently. “I know you have your family and friends who have known about this all a lot longer than I have but I’m here for you if you need me,” he added, wanting to make sure that MG knew that he could turn to him if he needed to as well. He’d only ever seen MG with things under control so he didn’t know what it would be like to see the other side of him but he knew that he wanted to help his friend as much as he could. “Don’t be, it happens,” Josie shrugged, offering MG a small smile as he apologised. Following him upstairs, Josie was surprised to find Ethan waiting there and it was clear that he was surprised to see her as well. “A little. Ethan helped me find a rare comic for Jed for his birthday,” she explained. They didn’t know each other that well but he had seemed nice and he had definitely made an impression. Josie didn’t know any of the details about what had happened and she knew that she was going to have to ask MG to fill her in later but right now what mattered was making sure that Ethan had a daylight amulet to keep him safe and make sure that he could live as normal a life as possible. Josie knew that she would have been lost without hers, the necklace that Henrik had made her served as both a place where she could store her magic and a daylight amulet and it had helped her adjust that much better after she completed her transition. “No problem. We’ve got to stick together, right?” Josie said, a smile touching her lips as she looked over at MG. “I’m our only heretic but thanks MG,” she laughed, unable to deny that she was amused as MG tried to find the right words. “Seriously Josie, thank you,” Ethan said sincerely as he pulled her into a hug once he’d slipped the bracelet onto his wrist. “I didn’t think I’d ever be able to walk in the sun again,” he added. “A lot of vampires can’t but this helps us blend in better,” she nodded before looking from MG to Ethan and back again. “I’m meant to be meeting Hope so I’ll leave you guys to it but call me if you need me, alright?” she asked, offering them both a smile before heading out. “I will, thanks,” Ethan nodded. “Do you normally drink from blood bags?” he asked, not sure what was the norm for MG and his family. Ethan knew that he didn’t want to hurt anyone so it suited him just fine but there was so much that he didn’t know right now and he wanted to learn as much as he could. “Don’t worry, whatever it is I can take it,” he assured MG as he said that their first session would be easy. “What are we going to be doing first, coach?” he asked, not sure what MG had planned or how it was best to get started. As MG asked how he was feeling, Ethan’s expression turned thoughtful for a moment rather than giving the standard answer that he was fine. “I think I’m okay. I can see a lot clearer now and I think I can hear water running somewhere in the house,” he admitted. “It’s all a lot to take in but I’ll get there. Is it always like this?” he asked as he looked over at his friend. “How are you doing? You saw me die earlier, that couldn’t have been easy.”MILTON GREASLEY

I know what it's like to think of yourself as a monster
MG's lips stretched into a gentle smile at Ethan's words when he told him that he was happy for him. His life was already much better after knowing Ethan, so for that, he was grateful. "Oh, you don't have to hide them with me, E." MG assured him. He didn't want Ethan to feel like he had to keep up pretenses around him, so he hoped that with time, he would show MG the side of him that he kept tucked away. "I know you do, E." He never doubted that Ethan had his back for a second.
He frowned slightly when Ethan told him that he will not to be too much of a burden. "You can never be a burden, E." MG assured him with a quick shake of his head following. No matter what, Ethan was never going to be a burden to him. He nodded his head in agreement when Ethan mentioned that there's usually safety in numbers. "Exactly." He agreed with Ethan, lips stretching into a gentle smile as he spoke. Ethan's reaction was an expected one. He had the same reaction too when he learned about angels and demons. "Yuuup." MG confirmed with a quick nod following.
His expression soon shifted into a wince at Ethan's next comment. "Uh... About that..." MG held up his index finger, his wince still visible. "They are very real. They're total douchebags." MG offered Ethan a sympathetic look because he had no doubt that it must be very surprising to know about the existence of angels and demons because it opened the possibility of there being a heaven and a hell. "The angel... He's, uh..." MG trailed off, unsure what to say. "Let's just say that he's not one of the good guys. I'll have to say all those bits for later. It might be too much right now."
"Oh, look at you go, you got it right. Yup, a Tribrid. The first of her kind." MG confirmed with a grin tugging at his lips. "It shouldn't be possible, yeah. But, just like how the world's evolving, so are supernatural beings. Nothing seems impossible anymore." MG said with a quick shrug of his shoulders following.
MG watched the interaction between the two before he let out a soft 'oh' when Josie explained that they had met when Ethan helped Josie find a rare comic for Jed. "Oh. I see." MG's lips stretched into a gentle smile, happy to hear that Ethan was making new friends and so was Josie. "Yeah. You're right." MG said with a gentle smile resting on his lips. "Yup, that's exactly what I wanted to say." MG said with a chuckle spilling from his lips not long after. He smiled when Ethan thanked her, too. He watched their interaction before Josie mentioned that she's going to leave. "Okay. I will. Take care, okay?" MG sent her a gentle smile. "Hey, I can walk you out if you would like?"
MG paused at Ethan's question before he released a soft hum. "Yeah, it's safer for me that way." MG said with a quick nod of his head following. "I don't mean to scare you or anything, but, um, I'm a Ripper, E. Which means that if I feed on people, there's a very good chance that I won't be able to stop until, well..." MG trailed off because he had a feeling that he didn't need to continue that sentence for Ethan to understand where the ripper came from. "But, other options are obviously either drinking straight from the source, or animal blood." MG explained with a quick nod of his head following. "It's just safer for everyone if we drink from the bags." MG explained a moment later, his lips stretching into a brief smile.
He let out a chuckle at Ethan's words when he told him that he can take whatever their training will include. "I'm sure you can." MG shifted his weight from one foot to the other as he thought about their first training and what it should be about. "Well, I was thinking we can start working on your powers. Your new strength, speed, your heightened hearing, and if we have the time and energy, we can start working on controlling your urges." MG knew it won't be easy, but they both have all the time in the world now. MG was quiet as he listened to Ethan explain how he was feeling, he nodded his head slowly in an understanding manner. "At first, yeah. You might even experience heightened emotions, so if it ever feels like you're blowing things out of proportions, just know it's completely normal and a part of the transition." MG assured him in a soft voice. He didn't want him to feel like there was something wrong with him just for reacting in a way that didn't feel like him.
MG's brows quirked up when Ethan turned the question to him. MG was feeling a little better which was definitely an improvement. "It wasn't. It was... terrifying." MG admitted with a soft sigh falling from his lips. "But, seeing you alive right now makes up for it." MG added a moment later. "I'm alright, E. Don't worry about me. You're my priority right now." MG said in a soft voice. "How about you try and get some sleep, yeah? It's been a long day for you."

“I know, it’s just a hard habit to break sometimes,” Ethan admitted as MG aid he didn’t have to hide the bad things with him. “The same goes for you though, you don’t need to hide anything with me. Not anymore.” He completely understood why MG had hidden the fact that he was a vampire from him but if he was honest there was a part of Ethan that thought that it was actually pretty cool. Now they didn’t have that secret between them any longer and he hoped that MG would be honest with him from here on out. As MG said he would never be a burden, Ethan shook his head. “I know you have a lot going on with your friends right now, I don’t want to add to it too much,” he said gently. That was why MG had pulled away from him in the first place and Ethan knew that he didn’t want to distract MG from that since it was clearly something important. As MG said that demons were real as well and that they were douchebags, Ethan shook his head in disbelief. “This is insane,” he breathed. “How has all of this stayed hidden for so long?” There was clearly a lot that he had to learn but from what MG had told him so far it was already a lot so he had no idea how it had all been kept a secret for this long. “I never would have expected that,” Ethan said, letting out a low whistle as MG said that the angel wasn’t one of the good guys. “It sounds like there’s more to the story but leaving it until later might not be such a bad idea,” he nodded, knowing that he was already a little overwhelmed as it was without adding more to it as well. “So in other words even when I learn about all of this things are still going to keep changing? That’s good to know,” he chuckled. He knew that he shouldn’t really be surprised but it was still a lot to take in. “Are all of your friends supernatural?” he asked, not sure whether it was just Hope or whether there were others too. Soon enough Josie arrived and Ethan was surprised to see her. He hadn’t known that she wasn’t human but then again he hadn’t known about MG either. They were both pretty good at hiding it and he knew that he would have to learn to do the same. “Sure it was,” Josie laughed as MG said that he’d wanted to say the same thing. She knew that it was hard to keep track of all of the changes sometimes, she had become a heretic, Hope had activated her vampire side and Raf and Jed were both hybrids, so she really couldn’t blame MG for getting mixed up. “I will,” she nodded as MG told her to take care. “You two take care of each other as well,” she added as she looked from MG to Ethan and back again. “Sure, that would be great. Thanks,” Josie said, offering MG a smile as he offered to walk her out. Once they were alone, she looked over at her friend. “Are you okay?” she asked, her voice full of concern as she spoke. “Safer?” Ethan asked, unable to deny that he was confused by that. It wasn’t long before MG was elaborating, though, and he couldn’t deny that he was surprised. “It’s so difficult to imagine you that way,” he admitted at last. “I get what you mean now though. I’ll stick to bags too if I can,” he nodded decisively. If someone as good as MG could become a Ripper when he drank from people then Ethan knew that he didn’t want to risk it and if he was honest he didn’t really like the idea of drinking from people anyway. He might be a vampire now but he didn’t want to hurt anyone so he knew that he would much rather avoid the temptation if he could. How he would end up going about getting blood bags or keeping them from his family was a different matter but he knew that he would have to figure something out. Ethan knew that learning everything that came with being a vampire was going to be a challenge but it was one that he was up for especially since it would mean that he could see his family again once he had everything under control. “Sounds good to me,” he nodded as MG listed off the things that they would start with. “Anything that will help me blend in.” That was what he was going to need to do, MG and his family had been living in Mystic Falls for some time so Ethan knew that he didn’t want to be the weak link that would give them away. “Heightened emotions? That’s going to be interesting,” he chuckled. “Good thing I’m not like my sister, she would be awful with those,” he added with a grin. “I’ll keep that in mind though, thanks.” Ethan wasn’t sure how he would handle the heightened emotions but he knew that he would find out when the time came. “I’m so sorry,” he said gently as MG said that seeing him die was terrifying. Ethan never wanted MG to feel that way but he knew that he would have felt the same if he’d seen MG die. “I’m always going to worry about you, MG. That’s never going to change,” Ethan assured him. The guy was his best friend after all but he was also so much more than that to Ethan, he just didn’t know how to put it into words. “I know you’re worried about me but don’t bottle things up yourself. You can talk to me.” Ethan knew that MG would probably still try and protect him from certain things but he knew that he had to try and get him to be honest with him. “Sounds good,” he nodded as MG suggested he get some sleep. “I’d better give you your room back, do you think it would be okay if I crash on the couch?” he asked, not wanting to put anyone out. I know what it's like to think of yourself as a monster
MG nodded his head slowly at Ethan's words, his lips stretching into a sympathetic smile. “I get it. But, trust me, it will feel a lot better to just be open with someone.” However, MG wasn't going to force Ethan to open up to him and show him the different sides that he often kept tucked away. He will be there for him regardless. “I know.” MG had no reason to keep anything hidden away from Ethan anymore and even though he has yet to tell Ethan about Raziel and the impending apocalypse, it was only because he didn't want to overwhelm him with all the information. It would simply be better if he waited until he was certain that Ethan could process all the information without getting overwhelmed by what he was hearing since that would be easy, especially in his newly turned state. “Nah, you won't. Trust me.” MG assured him with a shake of his head following. “Tell me 'bout it.” MG had the same thought when Stefan talked to him about the supernatural world. He'd sat there with his mouth open and his eyes wide as he stared at Stefan without saying anything for a couple of moments before he finally seemed to speak up. So if anything, Ethan was taking the news like a champ. “Ignorance truly is a bliss sometimes.” MG was certain that people would lose their minds if they ever learned about the supernatural world and its existence. “They mostly cover up the supernatural stuff with things that are easy to explain. Like, animal attacks for example. I'm sure you've read that headline or heard 'bout it before. It's usually how vampire attacks are masked, among other beings.” MG explained with a quick shrug of his shoulders following, though it wasn't that easy since many people often lost their lives due to the vampires not knowing when to stop. It was sad, but it was something also out of his control. As much as he wanted to save everyone, both supernatural and human-alike, he couldn't.
“Yeah, same here. I thought they'd be all cute with their fluffy wings, harps, and all that. But...” MG trailed off with a soft sigh falling from his lips. “Obviously, just like how there are good vampires and bad ones, there are also good angels. It's just that in this case, the bad outweighs the good.” MG explained, his eyes relaxing on Ethan once he was done talking. When Ethan seemed to pick up on the fact that there was more to the story than MG was letting on, he nodded his head, offering him a thankful smile. “Yeah, it can wait for now.” MG agreed with Ethan, choosing to keep that topic for later.
MG chuckled at Ethan's statement before he nodded his head. “Pretty much, yeah. That's why it's best to keep an open mind because I'm pretty sure we're gonna keep seein' all sorts of crazy.” MG said with a half-smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “Mmm, yeah. Pretty much. I have friends outside of the school, but the majority of them are supernatural. They're good people.” MG said with a small smile resting on his lips as he talked about his friends.
MG offered Josie a sheepish grin at her comment and soon enough, she was already working on the daylight amulet for Ethan. His gaze traveled from Josie to Ethan then back again, watching the two of them. Once she was done, MG looked really relieved and he knew that there was no need for him to worry about the spell being done incorrectly since he really did trust Josie's abilities, so he was pretty glad that they got the daylight amulet step done and out of the way so that they can proceed with the actual training once the morning comes. MG's lips stretched into a gentle smile when Josie asked them to take care of each other. “We will.” MG offered and then he made the offer to walk Josie to the door which she then accepted. "I'll be right back." He told Ethan with a small smile etched on his lips before he took it upon himself to walk Josie to the door. When they reached the door, he took a moment to process her question before he took in a deep breath before letting it out. He was sure that it was written all over his face already that he wasn't doing too well so he knew that attempting to lie would be pointless and he didn't want to do that either. "Ask me tomorrow?" MG offered instead with a small smile on his lips because right now, that was all he could say. "Right now I'm just..." MG glanced over in the direction of his room where Ethan was. "More concerned about Ethan." MG admitted a moment later, his eyes relaxing on Josie once more after he was done. "I'll be okay though." MG added a moment later because it was the truth. After all, Ethan didn't die - not permanently. He still had him in his life.
MG nodded his head slowly at Ethan's words and soon enough he was explaining why it was safer for him to feed on anything but a living person. "Yeah... I guess we all have our demons." MG said with a half-smile resting on his lips. He looked relieved to hear that Ethan wanted to stick to blood bags too. "Alright. In that case, we have a steady source of those." MG said with a quick nod of his head following. It would certainly make things a lot easier for them.
"Sounds like a plan, then." MG said with a gentle smile tugging at the corner of his lips. It seemed like they had tomorrow planned out already which made things a lot easier for MG to know what they'll be doing. MG couldn't help the chuckle that escaped his lips at Ethan's comment. "I'll tell her you said that." He was only joking since by doing so he'd reveal the existence of vampires just to explain the joke. "You're welcome." MG replied gently. He shook his head when Ethan apologized for something that wasn't even his fault. "Don't apologize. Just seeing you alive right now has already made up for it, E." He was just worried that the next time that Raziel attacks, he won't be so lucky so as to keep Ethan by his side. It scared the hell out of him. MG's expression softened when Ethan told him that he was always going to worry about him. MG couldn't even start to find the words that'd explain just how much Ethan's words meant to him. He also felt the same way about Ethan. He can't imagine himself ever not worrying about Ethan. He's always going to worry about him because he meant a lot to him.
MG's lips parted and it would have been easy to tell Ethan how he felt in that exact moment. If only he wasn't such a coward. MG's lips pressed together instead and he cleared his throat, ignoring the way it almost felt like his heart was in his throat. "I know, E." MG assured him with a small smile on his lips. "I promise I'll keep that in mind." MG added a moment later. "Oh, nah, it's okay. You can crash here with me. My bed's big enough anyway. I promise I won't bite." MG joked light-heartedly as he moved to sit down on the bed, refusing to acknowledge the fact that his heart was back in his throat at the thought of being in the same bed as Ethan. It's just like a sleepover, he told himself with a nod of his head following. "Get comfy." MG encouraged as he did just that. "Turns out getting my ass kicked by some Randall wannabe is tiring and to think I wanted to date him..." MG shook his head before he seemed to remember that Ethan wasn't there when that joke was made. "My friends always used to tease me because I'm still single, so I made a joke that I'm dating Randall and that's why I'm always alone. Cause he's, you know, invisible." MG cringed a little as he explained the joke because it wasn't funny at all. "Oh, shit, wait. You probably need to change into something new, right? If you wanna take a shower that's available too. I think I have some clothes that'll fit you." MG got out of bed, the whole joke about Randall reminded him that Ethan's clothes were still bloody and his own clothes were dirty, too.
MG made his way to his wardrobe where he pulled something for Ethan to wear before he fetched another outfit for himself. "Here, try these." He handed the clothes out to Ethan. "Bathroom's on the left once you exit the room. First door." MG explained with a nod of his head. "Let me know if you need anything else. Spare towels are in there, too." TAG ETHAN MACHADO

“I know, you might end up regretting saying that though,” Ethan teased. He wasn’t ready to let MG see all of that just yet especially since Ethan was still trying to get his head around the fact that he was pretty sure he had feelings for the guy. He doubted that MG would ever feel the same but Ethan still didn’t want to do anything to put him off, especially now that MG had just come back into his life again after putting some distance between the two of them. There was so much going on right now and Ethan was glad that he had MG in his corner. He understood why MG had kept the supernatural world a secret from him but now Ethan was a part of it and he knew that he needed to learn as much about it as he could. “Can you honestly tell me you need to be babysitting a new vampire right now with whatever else you’ve got going on?” Ethan asked, an eyebrow raised as he looked over at MG. He didn’t know what the guy had going on with his friends right now but Ethan knew that he definitely didn’t want to make things worse or more difficult for MG in any way. As MG said that ignorance was bliss sometimes, Ethan nodded. “You’re right about that. Everything was so much easier before but to be honest I’m glad I know now,” he admitted. He had never understood why MG had distanced himself from him and even now he didn’t know the real reason but he knew now that they had been living in two completely different worlds this whole time and he wanted to get to know MG’s world better. “I heard a lot about animal attacks before I moved here. I had no idea they were code for vampire attacks,” he breathed. “So the police know and they cover it up or is it how vampires cover their tracks?” he asked, unable to deny that he was curious. “I never would have seen that coming,” Ethan admitted as MG explained about the angel he had met. “So have you met any good angels or are they all like that one?” he asked. It still seemed crazy that angels were even real but Ethan trusted MG completely so he knew that he was telling the truth. He didn’t know how many people in town were supernatural but he knew that he wanted to find out. “Soon though, yeah?” he asked as MG agreed that the rest of the story could wait for now. Ethan knew that it was going to take him time to get his head around all of this but he knew that he might as well learn as much as he could. “I’ll try and keep that in mind,” he chuckled as MG said they were probably going to keep seeing all sorts of crazy. It definitely sounded like it so Ethan was starting to realise that he might as well try getting used to expecting the unexpected. “That makes sense,” he nodded as MG explained about his friends. “I’m glad I was one of the few lucky ones outside the school though,” he added with a grin. Making a daylight amulet was pretty easy for Josie to do by now but the truth was that she had never thought that she would end up having to make one for Ethan. She didn’t know him very well but he had always been nice to her and a part of her had hoped that he would be able to stay out of the supernatural mess the rest of them found themselves in but it hadn’t worked out like that. Heading away from the room with MG, Josie was quick to ask how he was doing and she felt a half smile touch her lips as he asked her to ask him tomorrow. “Deal,” she said as she pulled him into a tight hug, glad that he hadn’t bothered trying to lie to her. “I get that, I am too,” she admitted as he said that he was more concerned about Ethan. “He’ll be fine, he’s got you looking out for him and I meant it when I said I’m only a call away,” she assured him gently. “I’m here for you too, you know. You’re not on your own,” she added. She knew that it couldn’t have been easy for MG going through all of this either so she wanted to make sure he knew that she was there for him as well. “I’m glad, just let me know if you need to talk,” she offered before saying goodbye and heading out to meet Hope. “That’s true,” he nodded as MG said they all had their demons. Truth be told he was a little worried about what could happen if someone as good as MG could be a ripper but Ethan knew that he would just have to do his best to learn how to control himself. “That’s good. I don’t want to hurt anyone,” he said gently. Ethan knew that he wasn’t human any longer but he knew that he didn’t want to become a monster so he would much rather avoid that temptation if he could. “How do you get them?” he asked, knowing that he was going to have to sort something out when he went back home. “It does,” Ethan nodded as MG said it sounded like they had a plan. As he said he would tell Maya what he’d said, Ethan couldn’t help but laugh. “I adore my sister but come on man, you’ve met her. You know exactly what I’m talking about,” he chuckled. He loved his sister but her emotions could be all over the place at times as it was so Ethan was glad that she wouldn’t have to worry about trying to juggle heightened emotions at the same time. As MG told him not to apologise, Ethan studied him carefully for a moment. “I know how difficult it is to see someone you care about die, you don’t have to hide anything from me,” Ethan said gently. He had seen his dad die and it still stayed with him now and Ethan couldn’t deny that he was worried about MG. It was true that Ethan was still here but MG had still watched him die and that wasn’t something that Ethan took lightly. MG opened his mouth to say something and Ethan thought that he was going to do just that but then he closed it again and cleared his throat instead. Ethan really wasn’t sure whether the way he felt about MG was one sided or not, there were times when he thought that perhaps it wasn’t but then something changed and he was left wondering whether he had imagined it. “You’d better, don’t make me drag the truth out of you,” Ethan warned, knowing that he would do just that if he had to. Ethan was more than happy to give MG his room back and crash somewhere else where he wouldn’t inconvenience anyone but then MG was saying that he could stay there with him and that alone was enough to make Ethan’s heart start hammering away in his chest. “Are you sure?” he asked, not wanting to put MG out any more than he already had done. He knew that it was a platonic offer but just the thought was enough to have his cheeks flushing red slightly. Sitting down slightly awkwardly on the edge of the bed as MG told him to get comfy, Ethan looked over at MG as he explained spoke again. He wasn’t there when the joke was made so he was a little lost at first but then MG explained and Ethan felt a smile form on his face as he listened to him. “An invisible boyfriend named Randall, huh?” he asked, once again wondering if perhaps there was some hope that the way he felt about MG wasn’t one sided after all. Ethan had never liked a guy before but there was something about MG that he couldn’t seem to get enough of and he knew how he felt about him even if it had taken him a while to come to terms with it. “If you’ve got something that would fit I’d appreciate it, I think I’m going to have to burn these clothes,” he admitted. His shirt was full of holes and all of his clothes were covered in blood so he knew that his mom would start grilling him about what had happened to make them that way if he kept them. “Thanks,” he said as MG pulled out some clothes and handed them to him. “I should be good with these, thanks. I’ll be back in a minute,” Ethan nodded, getting up and making his way through to the bathroom. It felt good when the water cascaded over his skin and he was able to wash away the blood but it was a little overwhelming at the same time as the reality of everything that had happened began to hit him. He stayed there longer than he should as he tried to pull himself together before getting dressed and making his way back to MG’s room, the mask that everything was fine fixed firmly in place. “You’re covered in blood too, I bet you could use a shower as well,” he said as he looked over at MG. I know what it's like to think of yourself as a monster
MG was soon shaking his head at Ethan's words. “Don't worry, I won't.” He added with a gentle smile tugging at the corner of his lips. He tilted his head slightly to the side at Ethan's words before a small frown began to tug at his features and soon enough he was shaking his head again. “Ethan.” MG began, taking a small step forward. “No matter how busy I am, or how hectic my life is, I will always make time for you. I wouldn't call it babysitting either. You're venturing into a whole new world and I want to be there to help you through it, okay? I want to. You're very important to me.” MG hoped that his expression conveyed just how sincere he was being with his words.
“That's good.” MG said with a gentle smile resting on his lips. When Ethan asked next about vampire attacks, he released a small hum. “That's honestly a pretty good question. I'm not really sure. A bit of both, I think. Like, someone in the force has to know about vampires and they aren't doing anything to expose 'em. Or, maybe they're just clueless and the vamps are too good at covering their tracks. All I know is that I'm really grateful that our secret is not exposed worldwide.” MG said with a quick shrug of his shoulders following. Honestly, with how unhinged Raziel was, he wouldn't put it past the angel to do something like that to shift their world upside down, but he hoped that the angel wouldn't get that creative with his ideas on how to torture them.
“Yeah, I totally get what you mean. I always try to keep an open mind when it comes to supernatural beings, but... Angels and demons definitely surprised me.” It opened the possibility of there being heaven and hell and it honestly scared him a bit. But if someone like Raziel could be certified as an Angel then the scales are way too off, aren't they?
“Yeah, I know Castiel. Jack's other dad. Uh, Jack is a Nephilim, by the way. Y'know the hybrids we were just talkin' about? Well, he's one. Just not... a mixture between vampire and hybrid. More like, angel and human. Anyway, Castiel is one of the good ones. I'm sure there are others, there has to be.” MG refused to believe that they were all like Raziel. “Soon.” MG confirmed with a nod of his head following. “Me too, E.” MG added and the other had to be one of his closest friends outside of the school. He can't recall ever having such a deep connection with someone before until Ethan came along. He loved the squad — it was just that his friendship with Ethan was special.
MG gnawed on his bottom lip momentarily as he seemed to think about something for a moment before he met Josie's eyes. “Does he seem off to you?” MG can't help but think that Ethan was processing everything a little too well and even MG had panicked at first and his heightened emotions did get the best of him at first, but with Ethan... It was like he was still talking to the human version of him. It was strange. It was relieving, sure, but he still couldn't help but worry that Ethan was masking it. “Trust me, I'm happy that he's taking this well, but I'm just—” MG trailed off, running his tongue over his bottom lip for a moment in a quick swipe. “I'm worried that deep down he's not taking this well. At all.” MG voiced his concerns out loud, glancing over worriedly at where his room was before he looked at Josie again.
“You won't. I promise.” MG assured him when he told him that he doesn't want to hurt anyone. MG was going to try his best to make sure that never happens. “The school provides a steady source, I'm sure they'll give you a few. There's also the Mystic Falls Hospital, if you would like. Headmistress Jenna knows one of the doctors there who can hook you up.” MG said with a quick nod of his head following as he revealed where they often got the blood bags.
MG chuckled at Ethan's words about Maya before he parted his lips to say something. “Wait, you're waitin' for me to agree so you can hold it against me, aren't you?” MG joked with a grin tugging at his lips not long after. His expression softened at Ethan's next words before he shook his head. “I appreciate your concern about me, E. I really do.” MG offered him a gentle smile. “But, like I've said...” Flashbacks of his own confession flash before his eyes for a moment before he quickly cleared his throat. “I'm okay. Seeing you in front of me like this... It already healed a lot of pain that I felt when you died.” MG assured him in a soft voice, his eyes fixed on Ethan as he spoke.
MG chuckled at Ethan's threat before he nodded and held up his hands in feigned surrender motion. “Alright, alright. It won't reach that point, I promise.” MG said with a half-smile resting on his lips. “About the not biting part? I mean, vamp blood isn't really my thing— Yes, I'm sure, E.” MG teased at first before he finally reassured Ethan that he was sure that he wanted to share his bed with him. He felt a fond smile form on his lips at the way Ethan awkwardly sat down on his bed. “Mm, y'know him, right? From monsters, inc? I think actually explaining who he is makes this even weirder because I'm pretty much saying that I'm dating a gecko/chameleon thing.” MG wrinkled his nose at the idea before shaking his head. “But, when you're in friend group where most of them are dating, you get desperate at some point.” MG joked light-heartedly. He was genuinely happy for the ones who had found their other half and felt for the ones who hadn't yet. At least it made him feel like he wasn't completely alone in the singles club.
“I get what you mean.” He knew why Ethan wanted to burn the clothes. It would be near impossible to explain all that blood to your parent, after all. So, once Ethan was ready to burn them, he will definitely help. In the meantime, MG took it upon himself to find something for Ethan to wear. He was soon handing it to him and quickly nodded his head when Ethan thanked him as if to tell him that it was okay. “Okay, take your time.” MG sent him a small smile before he moved to sit on the edge of the bed.
He waited for Ethan to emerge and he couldn't help but grow a little worried when Ethan took longer than expected. He almost went to knock on the door before he decided against it so that he could give the other some space without him constantly hovering. When Ethan came back, his eyes relaxed on him immediately. His lips parted to ask 'are you okay?' but he held back when Ethan said something first. “Are you perhaps saying that I stink?” MG teased with a quirked eyebrow but he still rose up from the bed with his own clothes in hand. “I'm going, I'm going.” MG hovered momentarily by the door and turned to look at Ethan.
“Ethan?” MG spoke up after a few moments of silence. “You know you don't have to be okay about this, right? You can be not okay. So much has changed tonight. Let yourself feel it. I'm here for you. Anything you need.” MG spoke in a gentle voice, his softened eyes on his best friend before he offered him a quick nod of his head before he finally exited his bedroom so he could go and take a quick shower, washing away the blood and the smell of it from his body.
He didn't take long and when he emerged, he was wearing fresh and comfortable clothes. He began making his way back to his bedroom and quietly, he began making his way into his bed, ignoring the way he felt a bit nervous about sharing the same bed with Ethan but he willed his heart to calm down and just consider it a little sleepover with Ethan. He propped his head on his arm behind his head and glanced over at Ethan to check whether he was asleep or still awake.

It was all so much to take in, Ethan knew that, but that didn’t change the fact that he wanted to make sure that he didn’t become a burden. MG had a lot going on, he must have done in order to pull away for so long the way he had done, and the last thing Ethan wanted was to end up adding to the pressure that his friend was under. MG hadn’t asked for any of this, he had given Ethan his blood to try and heal him but instead it had turned him into a vampire. Ethan hadn’t asked for any of that either but when MG gave him the option he had decided to become a vampire so he could at least have a chance at living. That didn’t mean that he wanted MG to feel obligated to help him, though, but as MG spoke Ethan could see that it wasn’t that he felt like he had to help him, it was that he wanted to. “I know I’m important to you and you’re important to me too but whatever you have going on with your friends was important enough to keep you away from me before, MG. I don’t want to distract you from something like that,” he said gently. MG meant so much to him and the last thing Ethan wanted was for the guy to end up resenting him for dividing his focus. Ethan had thought that he knew what living in Mystic Falls was like but the truth was that he really hadn’t had a clue. Now he was learning so much so quickly and it was a little overwhelming to say the least but there were certain things that made so much more sense now than they ever had before. “I am too. People are always scared of things they don’t understand, if they found out I’m sure it would only be a matter of time before they started coming after us with torches and pitchforks.” Ethan knew that so many had been accused in the past, it had happened with the Salem witch trials and he wouldn’t be surprised if there had been others as well. He had never thought that he would wind up being a part of that world but now he was and all he could do was hope that he would be able to keep it a secret. “It just sounds so crazy for those to exist,” Ethan admitted as MG said that angels and demons had definitely surprised him. “Jack’s other dad? How many does he have?” Ethan asked with a laugh. He didn’t really know anything about Jack’s family but now he couldn’t deny that he was intrigued. “Wait, Nephilim are real too? Is Jack the only one?” he asked. They were something that he had definitely heard of but he had never thought that they were actually real. Then again Ethan was already starting to see that a lot of things were real that he wouldn’t have expected to he knew that he really shouldn’t be surprised. “I’m sure there are, they can’t be all bad,” he nodded. He had always believed that it was who a person was that mattered rather than what they were and he knew that it had to be the same for angels. Nodding as MG confirmed that he would tell him soon, Ethan felt a smile touch his lips as MG agreed with him. He knew that it couldn’t have been easy for MG becoming friends with people he had to hide a part of himself from but Ethan was glad that MG had taken a chance on him because he knew that he wouldn’t give up what they had for anything. Josie could see that something was bothering MG and she studied him carefully as he bit his bottom lip. “Hmm. He does seem to be holding it together really well for someone who didn’t know about any of this before today,” Josie admitted as she met MG’s gaze. When she woke up in transition it had been a shock but she had at least known about the supernatural world her whole life and she had already considered becoming a heretic before. Ethan hadn’t known about the supernatural world before so she would be lying if she said that she wasn’t a little worried about him. “I know what you mean, his whole world has been turned upside down and he might be bottling that up.” Heightened emotions came with the territory of being a vampire and that was something that Josie had learned the hard way. It had taken her time to get herself under control but Ethan seemed surprisingly relaxed about the whole thing and she couldn’t help but wonder whether he was bottling it up or whether he was in shock. “How do you stop yourself from losing control?” Ethan asked. MG had said that he was a ripper but he hadn’t seemed to struggle at all while they were hanging out and Ethan wasn’t sure whether there was a trick to it or anything like that. “That would be great,” Ethan nodded as MG explained about where to get blood bags from. “I have no idea how I’ll be able to keep this from my mom and Maya,” he breathed. MG had said that he could tell them if he wanted to but Ethan knew that he needed to get himself under control first. He had no idea how they would take it especially since MG had said that his own parents had disowned him and that was what scared Ethan the most. “Would I do a thing like that?” Ethan teased, putting on an innocent look like he had no idea what MG was talking about. He knew that he wouldn’t actually say anything to Maya but it was still good to be able to joke about it nonetheless. “I’m always going to worry about you,” he said gently as MG spoke again. “Alright but let me know if anything changes,” he said, knowing that the last thing he wanted was for MG to feel like he had to put on a brave face for him even though that was exactly what Ethan was doing right now himself without even realising it. “It had better not,” he warned although a smile touched his lips nonetheless. Rolling his eyes playfully as MG spoke again, Ethan nodded as MG said he was sure. “Alright,” he said although as he sat down on the bed he still couldn’t help but feel a little awkward. Just the thought of sleeping in the same bed with MG was enough to have his heart racing and he was pretty sure that his cheeks were pretty red right now but there was still a part of him that wanted to. It was platonic, he knew that, but Ethan couldn’t shake the feeling that he wanted something more with MG especially now after everything that had happened. “Yeah, I know who Randall is. Maya loves that film, I just liked watching you squirm,” he teased. “Honestly though I’m surprised you said you had an invisible boyfriend rather than an invisible girlfriend,” he admitted, trying to recall who MG had said about being interested in before. He was pretty sure MG had never mentioned being interested in a guy before but he wasn’t sure whether the guy had just said it because of the way in which his friends were coupling up. Ethan wasn’t surprised that MG got it when he said about burning his clothes, he knew it would be a shame since he didn’t like to waste anything but his mom would only ask him how they had ended up getting covered in blood and the truth was he wasn’t sure how he would be able to answer that question so he would much rather avoid it if he could. Disappearing into the bathroom, Ethan had thought that he would just have a quick shower and get out of there so MG could go next but the moment he was alone the reality of everything that had happened hit him and it was all he could do to keep himself from crying. He knew that he couldn’t afford to break down now but that didn’t mean that he wasn’t close to doing so. Emerging from the bathroom after a while, Ethan shrugged at MG’s next words. “You said it, not me,” he teased. Turning away as MG headed for the door, Ethan looked back as his friend spoke again. Once more his eyes began to sting with tears but he quickly blinked them away. “If I let myself break down now I’m worried I’ll never stop,” he said, his voice breaking slightly as he spoke. He knew that he really shouldn’t bottle this up but at the same time he was worried about what would happen if he let it all out. Relaxing on the bed it wasn’t long before MG joined him and he turned to look at him. “Feel better?” he asked, his arm under his head to prop it up slightly so he could look at MG. MILTON GREASLEY

I know what it's like to think of yourself as a monster
"I don't know how to say this in a way that won't sound bad at first, but staying away from you was my choice, Ethan. I had to do it to keep you safe. Not just from the supernatural but from..." MG trailed off with a small frown tugging at his features. "A really bad guy." MG concluded, his eyes relaxing on Ethan once more. MG nodded his head in agreement with Ethan. "Yeah, exactly. That's why there's a school and college built for people like us. So that we can exist without having to hide who we are. At least within those walls." MG said with a half-smile resting on his lips. "Right? It never fails to trip me out." MG agreed with Ethan on that one.
MG couldn't help but chuckle at Ethan's question. "... Quite a few." MG said in the midst of his chuckle. "You'll get used to it, don't worry." MG added a moment later, his eyes still fixed on Ethan. "Oh, nope, he's not. We've got Ben, too. He's a pretty cool guy." MG said a moment later with a quick nod of his head following. "I sure hope so." MG commented when Ethan mentioned that they can't be all bad. He'll just have to carry that hope with him that the angels weren't bad.
"Too well, Jo." MG whispered, his eyes fixed on her. "He's holding it together too well." MG added, bottom lip momentarily caught between his teeth before he shook his head and looked away for a moment at the direction of his room where Ethan was. "I'll talk to him." He'll give him space if he needed it, but he needed Ethan to know that bottling things up won't end well for him. Especially in the start when his emotions were heightened.
“I’m not gonna lie to you. It takes a lot of effort. Whenever accidents happen at school, I feel myself wanting to cave in. It’s this burning desire that’s so strong at first, but then you breathe. You don’t realize at first that you’re holding your breath after smelling blood. But breathing helps. Getting away from the scent is also a good step. It’s mostly just self-control, which is what we’ll work on together, don’t worry.” MG had plans to teach Ethan everything that Stefan had taught him after becoming a vampire. “I know, it’s going to be hard. But, you have to try, okay?” MG’s eyes remained fixed on Ethan, giving him a quick reassuring nod of his head not long after.
MG rolled his eyes with a grin tugging at his lips not long after. “You one hundred percent would. Look at that face you’re makin’ right now. You’re not that innocent.” MG said with a chuckle spilling from his lips not long after. “I know.” MG said with a grateful smile resting on his lips. Just like how he was always going to worry about Ethan. “I will.” MG added a moment later and he knew that telling Ethan about his feelings would elevate a lot of pressure from his chest and weight off his shoulders, but he couldn’t. He just… couldn’t.
MG narrowed his eyes playfully at Ethan when he mentioned that he liked watching him squirm. “Rude,” MG said, pretending to be offended, even letting out a gasp. “I couldn’t think of anyone else. It’s not like there’s another invisible person— Oh my god, Susan Storm.” It clicked in a little too late but he soon let out a chuckle. “S’fine, I like ‘em a little complex, anyway. I can change him.” MG joked in a light-hearted manner, his hsoulders lifting and dropping in a quick shrug.
“Wow. Just wow.” MG shook his head, pretending to be disappointed when Ethan didn’t defend him and say that he smelled good. It would’ve been a lie, especially with all that blood on him. He still pretended to be hurt, but it only lasted for a bit. MG’s expression softened at Ethan’s next words. “It won’t feel like this forever, E. Let yourself feel, because the consequences of bottling things up… You might not end up liking it.” MG kept his voice soft as he spoke. “Let it out. I’m here for you.” MG added a moment later, wanting Ethan to know that he was always going to be there for him if he needed to let it go.
When he came back from taking a much-needed shower, he got in bed with Ethan and turned onto his side to look at Ethan properly when the other did the same. “Yeah, a lot better.” MG propped his head on his hand, his eyes fixed on Ethan still. “How are you feeling? Do you wanna talk about it? About tonight?”

Ethan would be lying if he said he wasn’t hurt when MG said that he chose to stay away from him. He had thought that MG was too busy to hang out with him or that what he was facing was important but hearing those words cut deeper than Ethan had thought they would. As MG went on to say that he did it to keep him safe, though, Ethan’s expression instantly turned to one of concern. “You were trying to protect me from a bad guy?” he repeated. “What guy? What’s going on MG?” he asked, knowing that it had to have been bad to make MG decide to stay away and it sounded like it was probably tied to what had happened at the house earlier as well. “That sounds so good right now. I can’t imagine how difficult it must have been for you before the school opened,” Ethan admitted. He knew that having to hide what you were around people when you saw them from time to time was one thing but he wasn’t sure that he liked the idea of going back to Whitmore right now because he could already tell that the temptation would be great. “I bet,” he chuckled as MG spoke again. As MG said that Jack had quite a few dads, Ethan couldn’t help but laugh. “Remind me not to get on the wrong side of him,” he chuckled. He didn’t know much about Jack but he seemed like a nice guy and now he couldn’t deny that he was a little intrigued. “I hope so,” he nodded as MG said that he would get used to it. Ethan was already starting to see that he had a lot to learn and it was going to take time but he knew that he just had to try and be patient. “That’s pretty cool. I can’t wait to meet everyone,” he admitted. Some of them he had crossed paths with before but they had obviously been keeping a secret and now they didn’t have to do that any longer so he knew that it would be different this time. “You don’t sound convinced,” Ethan admitted as MG said that he hoped that there were other good angels out there. It wasn’t filling him with confidence, that was for sure. “If there’s anyone he’ll open up to, it’ll be you,” Josie said gently as MG said that Ethan was holding it together too well. “He could still be in shock right now, it’s a lot to take in,” she added. Ethan had died and come back as a vampire, that was bound to take a toll but she was confident that if there was anyone who could get through to him then it was MG. The two of them were close and she knew that wasn’t going to change. “Alright. I’m only a call away if you need back up,” Josie promised, knowing that she wouldn’t hesitate to help MG if he needed it. All Ethan could do was listen as MG explained what it was like for him when someone hurt themselves. Ethan had seen movies about vampires and he had read books about them but now he actually was one and he knew that it was going to be completely different to anything that he had ever come across before. This wasn’t fiction, it was reality and it was his life now so he knew that he had to figure out a way to learn to live with that. “Okay, I’ll try not to,” he nodded as MG told him not to worry because they would work on self control together. Right now it seemed like it was going to be a difficult thing to learn but Ethan knew that he had to. “I know, I can’t lie to them,” Ethan said as he let out a sigh. “I’m not looking forward to seeing the look on mom’s face when she realises I died though,” he added, his voice breaking slightly as he said those words out loud. They had already lost his dad and if it weren’t for MG then they would have lost him too. “I have no idea what you’re talking about, I’m completely innocent,” Ethan said, continuing to play along even though it was clear that MG wasn’t buying it one bit. “Good, because it’s not going to change,” Ethan assured him as MG said he knew that Ethan worried about him. The guy was his best friend and even though he had hidden the truth from him, it didn’t change anything between them as far as Ethan was concerned. MG had tried to protect him and Ethan knew that he couldn’t hold that against him. “Don’t you dare pretend you wouldn’t do the same to me,” Ethan teased, knowing that MG would probably enjoy making him squirm just as much. They always wound each other up but it was only ever in good fun. “You went for the lizard instead of the beautiful woman, and here I was thinking I knew you,” he chuckled, unable to stop himself. He still wasn’t sure whether MG was actually into guys or whether it really was the only thing he had been able to think of but there was still a part of Ethan that was starting to hope that perhaps this wasn’t one sided after all. “You like bad boys, I’ll remember that,” he chuckled even though he was slightly disappointed. Ethan knew that definitely ruled him out though so he knew that he needed to keep how he felt to himself. “You wouldn’t have wanted me to lie to you, would you?” he grinned as MG pretended to be disappointed in him. Ethan knew that MG was right when he said that he needed to let himself feel because he wouldn’t like the consequences of bottling it up but the truth was that Ethan wasn’t very good at talking about his feelings. He was so used to being the strong one, he tried to be strong for his mom and sister and now he was trying to stay strong because he felt like if he let go then he might never be able to pull himself back together and there was also a part of him that didn’t want to appear weak in front of MG. “I know you are and I appreciate that, I’m just not good at this,” he admitted before watching MG disappear to have his shower. Settling himself down on the bed, it was then that Ethan started to feel the adrenaline leaving him. Up until now he had been running on fumes and he nodded as MG said that he felt a lot better but it was an automatic gesture. He’d felt better after his shower too but now it was all starting to really hit him and this time as MG asked how he was feeling and if he wanted to talk about it, Ethan wasn’t able to blink away the tears that formed in his eyes. “I don’t even know where to start,” he admitted at last, his tone sad as he spoke. He had tried holding it together for so long but he couldn’t do that any longer no matter how hard he tried. “Someone supernatural came into my home and killed me. How does that even happen?” he asked, a couple of tears rolling down his cheeks as he spoke. MG had said it was because of the fact that the two of them were friends and his attacker had said the same but it just didn’t make sense to Ethan, he was missing something and he didn’t know what.
