“It’s true. I’ve seen how you are with the Squad and how you always were with the pack,” Ben said gently. Jed always tried to look out for everyone around him, even those who didn’t fall into one of those groups. He always seemed to know what people needed and that was something that Ben had always admired. “I like the sound of that,” he admitted as Jed said that they could revisit getting married once they’d stopped his father. There wasn’t a doubt in Ben’s mind that he wanted to marry Jed as soon as possible and he knew that it was the same for Jed but with everything with Raziel hanging over their heads, it didn’t feel right to be planning a wedding just yet. For now Ben knew that the two of them being engaged and living together was enough. “It gives us something to look forward to once this is all over,” he added with a smile. Then they would be able to get all of their loved ones together to celebrate with them without having to worry about the end of the supernatural world as they know it. “Oh yeah, I need all the help I can get,” Ben chuckled, his tone teasing as he spoke. Truth be told he wasn’t used to this at all, he’d had one night stands along the way but otherwise he’d been on his own for thousands of years so he was just figuring this out as he went along. “Can you blame me?” he laughed. He had been in love before but never like this and he had literally brought Jed back from the dead once before so he knew that he wasn’t going to let him go without a fight. As Jed asked if he thought that punching Raziel would be any different this time around, Ben’s expression turned thoughtful for a moment. “I guess that depends on whether his strength and abilities are enhanced or not. If we can take out the witch or warlock he has working for him then that would make all the difference,” he shrugged. Truth be told that was something that Ben hadn’t really thought of before but now that he had he knew that it would be worth trying to level the playing field one way or another. It was so easy to tease Jed when Ben caught him staring and he couldn’t help but laugh at Jed’s reaction. “Don’t worry, I’m just as bad,” he chuckled, knowing that he caught himself looking at Jed a lot more than he should. Even now Ben didn’t know how he had ended up getting this lucky but he knew that he definitely wasn’t going to argue. “Same here. We’ll have to do this more often,” he nodded. Ben had learned a lot of different forms of fighting over the course of his life but sparring like that with Jed was definitely his favourite. He couldn’t help but laugh when Jed almost whined as he said they couldn’t stay there all day. “You’re such a dork,” he said, nudging Jed’s arm playfully with his own as he kept their hands joined but opened his arms. “You’re doing a great job there,” he chuckled as Jed said he was building up to getting up off the floor. Eventually Jed got up and Ben knew it was about time he moved too. “Chances are you’ll either collapse onto the sofa or bed when we get home then,” he teased as he got to his feet with Jed’s help although he knew that they would definitely need to have something to eat first. “Definitely, a shower and a change of clothes is definitely in order,” he nodded, lifting their joined hands and pressing a kiss to Jed’s knuckles before leading the way out of the gym. “Shall we grab takeout on the way home?” he asked as they walked, knowing that neither of them would probably want to cook after that. – I freed myself from words never said –
Jed felt a gentle smile tug at the corner of his lips at Ben's words before his shoulders soon lifted and dropped in a quick shrug. "I guess my only guideline was just making sure I don't do what my father used to do." Well, he had failed miserably at first but then he was able to do everything he could to make sure that he doesn't repeat the mistakes of the past again - to bury that rebellious and bullying soul beneath a shallow grave and ensure that it doesn't spring back to life in a sick twist of events.
"I can't help but miss them sometimes. I don't regret what I did, but it feels weird, y'know?" Jed commented, his eyes relaxing on Ben again, his voice still quite soft as he spoke. "God, yeah. I can't wait." For both the inevitable defeat of Raziel and their wedding. It gave him something special to look forward to. It felt like the light at the end of a very, very long tunnel. A light that he was more than happy to chase because it was a promise of something a lot sweeter. "With your looks, the job is already like 99% done, the one percent is what we're gonna work on." Jed teased in a light-hearted voice as he kept his eyes fixed on Ben. "No, I absolutely cannot, not when I feel the same way, too." Who would have thought that Jed would fall in love this hard?
"An enhanced angel? Fuck," Jed breathed out. It sounded like the source of his worst nightmare. He gulped past the lump in his throat before he seemed to focus more on the fact that if they were to get their hands on the witch supplying him with power, they will be able to take him down. It was easy for him to focus on a different topic thanks to the distraction provided by Ben.
"You know what? I like the sound of that." Jed agreed almost immediately. He chuckled at Ben's next words before he finally, finally managed to finally find the strength to get up. "Ah, you know me so well." Jed chuckled, knowing that the chances of him passing out as soon as his body hits a bed or a couch were very, very high. 'God, yes, a shower sounds amazing right now." He seemed to perk up at the mention of getting some food. "Absolutely. Chinese?" Chinese food had sort of become their go-to food to eat whenever they want to eat out. So, he was all too happy to get something from there on their way home. ”Unless you wanna try something a little more different tonight?” Jed asked with a hint of curiosity in the tone of his voice as he walked with Ben toward the exit. ”I think we also ran out of beer, so we can grab some on the way home, too.” Jed added a moment later with a quick nod of his head following, one hand resting in the pocket of his sweatpants while the other held onto Ben’s. “Thank you, by the way. For doing this. I needed that.” Jed had been bottling things up without meaning to, but when he realized that he was falling back into old habits, he immediately tried to find a means to get all that pent up tension and anger out. “Here’s to hoping that we end this nightmare soon so everything can hopefully go back to the way that it used to be.” Jed could only hope that they finally put an end to Raziel before he hurts more and more innocent people who did nothing to deserve his wrath. They needed to stop Raziel before more destruction is caused by his wrath when none of the people on the receiving end did anything to deserve it. He was a nightmare and Jed was more than eager to wake up from it.

“Well, you’ve succeeded in that,” Ben said gently. “From what you’ve told me, you’re far from the man your father wanted you to be and that’s not a bad thing,” he added. Jed’s father was a monster from what Jed had told him, he had tried making his son kill his best friend just so he would trigger his werewolf curse but in the end Jed had turned the tables on his father and had killed him instead. Ben knew just how hard Jed was trying to be better than the person that his father wanted him to be and it really was working as far as he was concerned. Jed was amazing despite everything that his father had put him through and he was someone that Ben was beyond proud to be with. As Jed spoke about the pack, Ben’s expression softened. “I know what you mean. They were such a big part of your life for a long time and they depended on you. Have you thought about reaching out to them?” he asked, not sure whether that might still be a bit too weird for Jed or not. Truth be told he was glad that Jed didn’t regret his decision, he had decided to become a hybrid for the right reasons and even if they hadn’t done already, Ben hoped that the pack would see that in time. “I can’t either,” Ben said, a smile forming on his face as he looked over at Jed. He wanted to marry Jed so badly but he knew that it was right to wait until they didn’t have the threat of his father hanging over them any longer. Still, it gave them something to look forward to and something to fight for as well. As Jed spoke again, Ben couldn’t help but laugh. “I knew you were only with me for my looks,” he teased, knowing that that was far from the truth. There had been a connection between them right from the start and it was one that seemed to get stronger with each passing day. “Good,” he said, letting his hand rest against Jed’s cheek as he said that he couldn’t blame him. “I waited five thousand years for you to come along, I’m not going to lose you now.” Ben hadn’t thought that he deserved love before Jed came along and he certainly hadn’t thought that he would find it again but Jed had proved him wrong about both of those things and Ben wasn’t ashamed to admit that. “It’s the only thing that makes sense, he shouldn’t have been that strong,” Ben nodded. He was still learning about angels but he had learned that much at least. Their efforts should have had much more of an effect on his father but they hadn’t so the only thing that seemed to fit was that he had someone making him stronger. It was a scary thought to say the least but at the same time it also meant that they potentially knew his weakness and could exploit it. “Me too, I forgot how good this feels,” Ben admitted. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d had a workout like the sparring session they’d just had and if he was honest he had missed it. He had learned a long time ago that fighting the monsters that were coming after him was pointless but he’d found other ways to put his abilities to good use like fighting in the war and it had felt good to do something that could test his skills just like he and Jed had done moments before. “Of course I do,” Ben said, a smile forming on his face once more as Jed said that he knew him so well. “Great,” he nodded as Jed agreed to a shower before his expression turned thoughtful as Jed’s suggestion for food. “No, Chinese sounds perfect. It’s always one of our favourites,” he said at last, knowing that he couldn’t think of anything better right now. “We can’t have that, sounds like we have two stops on our way home then,” he said, knowing that there was no way that they were going to let themselves run out of beer either. That was always their go to as well, in fact it was one of the first things they did together so it always felt right to share a beer with Jed. Heading out, Ben looked over at Jed as he thanked him before giving Jed’s hand a gentle squeeze. “You don’t need to thank me, it’s what I’m here for,” Ben assured him gently. “You know I’m always here for you.” Sometimes that meant being there to listen or be someone to talk to but that day Jed had needed a sparring partner and Ben had been happy to fill that role too. “Hopefully,” he agreed as Jed spoke again. “Once we stop him it’ll feel like we can finally breathe again.” Deep down Ben hadn’t felt like he could do that since his father cursed him and it was only when Jed came into his life that he had started feeling a lot lighter. Now they had this hanging over their heads but they had plenty of people working on it and he knew that he just had to believe that they would find a way to stop his father. As they reached the dorms and headed inside, Ben looked over at Jed. “Do you want to take the first shower?” They had their own place but they always kept some clothes and an empty room at the school just in case. – I freed myself from words never said –
Jed felt a smile tug at the corner of his lips at Ben's words. "I hope so." He replied in a soft voice. There was a time when he'd acted like a carbon copy of his father - a bully, but Jed was proud that those times were behind him now and he was quite proud of the person he had become. Not long after turning into a hybrid, he'd found himself naturally making his way to his pack before he stopped in his tracks and realized what he was doing. It was hard to detach himself from the role of an alpha at first, but then it slowly became easier. Though he can't deny that he misses his pack. Although he can only hope that they were in safer hands now. If someone was capable of leading a pack and keeping them safe, it was Hope. Ben's question soon brings him out of his thoughts before he nodded his head. "A few times, yeah." They were friends, after all. He can't just suddenly leave them just because he wasn't their Alpha anymore. "But I'm giving them some time to get used to the huge change first. I don't want to distract them from adapting." Jed said with a half-smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
Jed laughed at Ben's teasing comment before he pretended to press a hand against his mouth. "I shouldn't have made it so obvious." Jed pretended to be disappointed with himself. He lowered his hand not long after, his expression softening considerably at Ben's next words. "God, why are you so romantic?" Jed breathed out, almost sounding amazed. Oh scratch that, he was definitely amazed. "Here I thought you couldn't get any more perfect." Ben still made his heart flutter just like how he'd effortlessly made it flutter when they met for the first time. It was just something that wasn't going to change, he assumed.
"As if he needed to get any worse." Jed breathed out with a shake of his head following. The man was like a nightmare, one that they just can't wake up from. He was looking forward to the day that they don't have to worry about that psychopathic angel anymore. He'd crack countless bottles of alcohol in celebration, honestly. But for now, he allowed himself to get distracted with how good it feels to be with Ben like this. He managed to release a lot of pent up frustration and anxiety. It felt good. "Perfect." Jed said with a grin tugging at his lips when Ben agreed to get Chinese food together. "Sounds like a plan to me." Jed will try not to forget about that little second stop on the way home.
Jed's expression softened when Ben told him that he doesn't need to thank him. "I love you." Jed said in a soft voice, returning the hand squeeze with one of his own. "I'm always here for you, too." And he meant it when he said always. He had all of eternity at the palm of his hands now. "I can't wait to breathe again." Jed said with burning anticipation because he wished for nothing more than to get rid of that angel for good. "Sure, yeah." Jed nodded his head a few times before he looked around, still not letting go of Ben's hand. "Or," Jed trailed off, his eyes fixed on his lover. "We could take one together." Jed said with a half-smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "To save up water, of course." Jed added a moment later as if that was his intention all along, not anything else, but the gleam in his eyes suggested otherwise.

“You are. You’re incredible,” Ben said gently. There had been a connection between them right from the start and even now there were times when Ben was certain that it was love at first sight for him. He had never felt like this about anyone before, not even Ashur, and he was doing his best to enjoy every moment of it. Ben believed Jed when he said that he was a different person before they met but the one Ben got to see every day now was amazing and he found himself falling in love with Jed a little more every day. Ben had never thought that he deserved a life like this but he knew that he wouldn’t give up what he and Jed had for anything in the world. It really wasn’t lost on Ben that Jed had made a sacrifice so they could have the kind of future together that they both wanted, he had become a hybrid and in doing so he had given up his Alpha status and his pack. Even now Ben still felt bad about that even though he knew that it had been Jed’s decision and he hoped that things would get better for him soon. “I don’t think you’d distract them. They’re your friends too, I’m sure they’d love it if you reached out,” he said although he knew he would understand if Jed chose to hold off for a while. It was his decision after all. “It’s too late to take it back now, I know your secret,” Ben teased, an amused chuckle escaping him as Jed pretended to be disappointed. He knew it wasn’t true, there was so much more between them than that but it was still fun to be able to joke around like this anyway. Ben’s expression softened as Jed asked why he was so romantic. “I never used to be, I guess you bring it out in me,” he shrugged as he leaned forward and kissed Jed gently. “I’m far from perfect but I love that you see me that way,” he added, a smile touching his lips as he looked over at Jed. He knew that he was just as bad, to him Jed was perfect as well and no one would be able to convince him otherwise. He still didn’t understand how Jed was capable of doing this to him but he knew that he wouldn’t have it any other way. “I know. I didn’t think it was possible but it seems it is,” Ben shrugged. He couldn’t think of any other way Raziel could have been that strong. He was already a formidable opponent but now they at least had something that they could work with. Losing against him wasn’t an option, not when there was so much at stake. Ben always felt the pressure and even now he still carried the guilt with him. He had been the one who had started the angel’s rampage thousands of years before as far as he knew and now his vendetta was against everyone who was supernatural. He couldn’t help but feel responsible but he knew that the only way he could put it right was by making sure they beat Raziel. “I’m looking forward to it,” he admitted. Ben was always happy whenever he was spending time with Jed but the nights where they were just able to eat together and relax were usually his favourites. As Jed said he loved him, Ben felt a smile form on his face. “I love you too,” he said, his eyes full of nothing but love as they met Jed’s. Ben knew just how lucky he was to have met Jed and he wasn’t going to take any of this for granted. “I know,” he added as Jed said he was always there for him too. “Now you really are,” he added, tracing his thumb over Jed’s knuckles gently. Jed was immortal now which meant that they could have a long life ahead of them and Ben wanted to make the most of it. “I can’t either. We just have to stay positive,” Ben said gently, knowing that there was no way he was going to let Jed lose hope now, not when they had made it this far. It was easy for Ben to offer to let Jed had the first shower but Jed didn’t let go of his hand and Ben lifted his gaze from their joined hands to meet Jed’s eyes as he said the word or[/]. It seemed like he had something else in mind and Ben’s smile returned as Jed let him in on what that was. “To save water, of course,” he chuckled, knowing that he didn’t believe that for a moment. “Here I was trying to be good, I don’t know why I bothered,” he added with a grin. “I’d love to, come on,” he said, stealing a kiss before giving Jed’s hand a gentle tug and leading the way in the direction of the shower.
