I know what it's like to think of yourself as a monster
With everything that was happening with Ben's dad, MG felt like he hasn't had the chance to actually relax, so he figured that he should change that today and actually do something that he likes. Ever since the last attack, MG had been working on his abilities a lot more to do better next time because it really didn't take long for Ben's dad to overpower him and snap his neck, leaving him in a brief slumber only to wake up when the fight was practically done. He wanted to do better next time, he didn't want to leave the fight to his friends while he takes a 'short nap', he won't allow that to happen again. Plus, they all started practicing together which helped a lot, too. But today, they all had the day off from practicing, so MG took it upon himself to head off to the nearest comic book store. It was actually his favorite one for its wide variety, so MG took it upon himself to head over there to check if they had the Scarlet Witch comic book available for him to purchase. But if not, he could always take a quick look around and see if something catches his eye. Maybe he'll leave his super hero addiction and pick up a new comic book. Who knows.
So, with a certain goal in mind, MG pressed his palm flat against the door and opened it with a gentle push, his eyes taking in the familiar surroundings. "Hey," he greeted the clerk with a gentle smile on his lips before he stepped deeper into the store, his hands resting inside the pockets of his jacket to warm them up. Though he was grateful that the store was warm. Honestly, it wasn't jus warm but it smelled really nice too, so he felt a smile form on his lips almost immediately as he approached the marvel section to see what they had.
"I have this... And this..." MG looked at each comic book, noting which ones he had already. His brows shot up when he actually came to the realization that he had pretty much everything in the marvel section. He let out a surprised chuckle before he walked out of the marvel isle to check other isles too while he was there, but with stepping into new territories came uncertainty and fear that his pick would be a bad one, so he figured that the best person to ask about this would be the worker. Maybe he could recommend him some comic books to take home.
He glanced over at the front before he started approaching, his lips stretching into a friendly smile almost immediately. "Hey, man." MG greeted with the same smile still present on his lips. "I was wondering if you could give me some recommendations? I kinda wanna try something new." MG propped his elbows on the glass table, his eyes on the other. "I didn't think I had an addiction before... But then I saw that I had all the marvel comic books back at home, so... I definitely have an addiction." MG admitted with a chuckle falling from his lips. "My favorite genre is action, but I'm willing to try anything new, as long as it's good."

There was a time when he was growing up when Ethan had thought that he was never going to want to move away from his home town. All of his friends were there and he had so many good memories of his time there but the truth was that after his dad died he just couldn’t wait to get out. He hadn’t known how to talk about it with his mom and sister so after graduation it had come as such a relief when they had revealed that they wanted to move as well. It had felt strange at first, almost like they were leaving his dad behind, but Ethan knew that he had wanted them to be happy and staying in the town was making them miserable so it really was the right thing for all of them. Ethan had been fortunate enough to have been offered a scholarship to a few different schools and Maya had been accepted into Whitmore as well so since that was one of the schools that had offered him a scholarship as well, the decision to go had been an easy one to make. They could have found a house close to the school but they had settled on Mystic Falls instead and Ethan didn’t regret it one bit. In a way it reminded him of his old home and that was comforting but it was also somewhere new which was exactly what he needed. He was able to drive to school each day although there had been one day when his mom had ended up giving him and Maya a ride in her police car while his was in the shop which he could have done without but that was just one of those things. Before his dad died Ethan had managed to get a job working in the local comic book store and the truth was that he had really enjoyed it. He had always loved reading comics so being able to help others find their perfect fit was something that he had taken to quite naturally. He hadn’t known whether it would be able to get a similar job in Mystic Falls but luckily for him he had found a shop that sold comics and so much more that was hiring and so far he couldn’t deny that he liked it there. His boss was pretty cool and the collection they had on offer was so much larger than the shop he had worked in before so there were always plenty of new series for him to take a look at. The customers seemed pretty nice so far as well and as one spoke to him, Ethan felt a smile touch his lips. “Hey,” he said, a somewhat amused smile forming on his face as the guy headed for the Marvel section before saying that he had the comics on sale as he looked through. By the time he had finished Ethan had moved to the other side of the counter to stock up some of the comics and he looked up as he heard footsteps approaching. “Hey man, of course,” he nodded as the guy asked for some recommendations. “I’ll be honest and say that superhero comics are my downfall too. One of the perks of working here is that I can always see when new ones come in although I swear most of the money I make goes right back into the till,” he chuckled before his expression turned thoughtful for a moment as the guy said that his favourite genre was action. “Marvel are the best by far for films but DC actually have them beat hands down as far as comic books go. Have you ever given them a try?” he asked, knowing that that would probably be a pretty good starting point. MILTON GREASLEY

I know what it's like to think of yourself as a monster
MG let out a chuckle at the other's words before he nodded his head in a manner that was sympathetic. "Oh, I definitely feel you there. You're very strong for working here, man, really. That's why I couldn't apply to work here. I think I'd leave the customers behind and just read the comic books instead. Definitely not a good worker." MG said with a grin tugging at the corner of his lips. MG was currently looking for a job and while he'd really enjoy this job in particular, he wouldn't be able to differentiate between working hours and breaks because he'd just get lost in the comic books and all their hidden potential. So, he might as well look for a job where he'll actually be productive and not get lost between the papers.
MG released a small hum as he thought about it for a moment. "I have read a few Batman ones, but I kinda got sidetracked and started delving into Marvel ones instead." MG nodded his head a few times, a half-smile visible on his lips. "But, if I remember correctly, the ones I read were pretty badass." MG was definitely convinced now to try out DC ones instead, widen his horizon and just read new things that he usually wouldn't pick.
"Okay, I take it you like DC comic books, then? What's your favorite by far?" MG questioned in a curious manner. "I'll give it a try first, that's why I'm asking." If the other liked it, then it must be fun to read, right?

“It’s definitely tempting but to be honest I like helping people find something new,” Ethan admitted. It was always good to find out what comic books different people liked and didn’t like and then help them find something new that they might end up getting into. On more than a few occasions he had helped him find different series he liked going off their recommendations as well so it worked both ways. Maya often teased him for being into comic books but the truth was that Ethan couldn’t help it. He had always loved them when he was younger and when his dad fell sick it had helped having different worlds he could escape into. Working here might not be the dream job for most people his age but Ethan liked it and he knew that he was lucky they were hiring when he’d asked about it. Nodding as the guy said that he’d ready a few Batman comics but then got sidetracked, Ethan’s expression turned thoughtful for a moment. “The Batman ones have always been pretty good especially The Dark Knight and Arkham Asylum but I’ve always liked the Flash. He was just an ordinary guy before he got his powers and even after that he still remained down to earth,” he admitted. “Most of them are pretty good though, especially some of the most well known plots,” he added. There were some that he hadn’t taken to as well but that was to be expected. “DC are my favourite, my dad bought me my first one when I was six and I’ve been hooked ever since,” he chuckled. “The DC Rebirth comics are a good introduction if you want to get started with them but my favourite is the Whatever Happened To The Man Of Tomorrow series. Flashpoint is pretty epic as well. I think we have at least the first few of each in stock if you want to give them a try,” he said as he led the way over to the DC section. “I don’t think I’ve seen you around before, do you go to school around here?” he asked, knowing that it wouldn’t hurt to get to know some of the locals if the guy lived nearby. “I’m Ethan.”MILTON GREASLEY

I know what it's like to think of yourself as a monster
MG felt a half-smile tug at the corner of his lips at the other's words before he nodded his head in an understanding manner. It was a pretty noble cause, actually. MG was looking for a job for the exact same reason because technically MG really didn't have to work, but he really wanted to help people out. He wanted to answer their inquiries. He had a feeling that the guy was pretty good at his job and he had a feeling that he was going to keep coming here to try out their comic books.
MG was fully invested in the conversation going on. He had a feeling that if his friends were around, they would wind up teasing him for being such a geek, but he couldn't care less because he just really, really enjoyed comic books. They were like a safe haven for him. He liked reading them whenever he had free time or whenever he needed a moment to just disconnect from everything happening around him. Either way, comic books saved MG from overthinking and from other negative emotions more times than he could count, so how could he not fall in love with them? "You're making me pretty excited to read DC comics." MG revealed with a chuckle falling from his lips. The way the other guy talked about them made him pretty excited to give them a second chance. Seems like talking to the guy for recommendations was definitely the right move, huh?
MG chuckled at his next words. "I think I started around a similar age. I was a pretty hyperactive kid, so my mom got me my first comic book to calm down and it worked like a charm, actually. She kept buying them for me from there on out." MG's smile turned sad for a moment at the memory that came rushing in. It made him miss his parents, deeply so. He blinked out of his thoughts and focused on the current conversation. "In that case, I'll take 'em all." MG said with a beaming grin on his lips. "And don't worry, I can read 'em all. I'll be sure to tell you how I like 'em when I come back for more." MG promised with the same grin resting on his lips. Having that many comic books to read would definitely keep him busy and that's exactly what he was looking for.
MG tilted his head slightly at the other's next question. He actually couldn't help but wonder the same thing about the other guy but with the fact that he was going to a normal school / college, he figured that such a thing was completely normal for him. He figured that it might not feel very normal for the other, though. "Oh, yeah, I do." MG nodded his head with a small smile resting on his lips. "I go to the Salvatore School. It's pretty much a normal school, just for the, uh..." Supernatural. Great, he almost outed himself and all of his friends right then and there. "Rich." MG said instead with a clear of his throat following.
"What about you? Do you go to a school 'round here?" MG asked rather curiously, his eyes fixed on the other. "Pleasure to meet you, Ethan. I'm MG." MG introduced himself with a bright smile resting on his lips, friendly as always.

There were a few of Ethan’s friends back home who had liked comic books but not to the extent that he always had done. Now whenever he read one he felt closer to his dad and it brought him a kind of comfort that he hadn’t expected. Most of the time people weren’t able to see past the jock stereotype for him but he always did his best to show them that there was more to him than that. Ethan had never wanted to be defined by just one thing and while he loved playing football he was realistic and knew that chances were that he wouldn’t be able to go on to play after college. To some that might be the end of the world but it wasn’t to Ethan and he was glad about that. Ethan knew that it was important to do the things that made him happy and working in the store definitely fell into that category. As the guy said he was making him pretty exciting to read the DC comics, Ethan couldn’t help but laugh. “In that case I’m glad I could be of assistance,” he chuckled. There was always a chance that the guy might end up hating them but Ethan had a feeling that wasn’t going to happen. He seemed like a pretty easy going guy so far, just the kind of guy that Ethan could see himself being good friends with. “You, hyperactive? I never would have guessed,” he teased, the smile on his face giving away the fact that he was only joking. “That’s a pretty good way to get started though,” he added with a nod. As the guy’s expression changed, Ethan’s turned thoughtful for a moment. “Are you okay?” he asked gently. It was clear that something had upset the guy and he wanted to make sure that he was alright. Soon enough he snapped out of it and Ethan’s smile returned. “You’d better. If you don’t like them let me know because there are plenty of others you can try,” he said, a little surprised that the guy said that he would take them all but Ethan knew that he definitely wasn’t going to argue. “Some of the Marvel characters have DC equivalents so if you have any favourites let me know and I can always order the equivalents in for you if we don’t have them in stock.”Being new to town meant that Ethan didn’t know too many people yet. He had made some friends at school but he didn’t really know too many people who lived in Mystic Falls yet and that was something that he knew he wanted to change. So far the guy was pretty easy to talk to and that definitely made it better as far as Ethan was concerned. As he said he went to the Salvatore School which was a school for the rich, Ethan nodded. There had been a slight hesitation there but he didn’t think anything of it. “That would explain it then. What’s it like there?” he asked, unable to deny that he was curious. Ethan had only ever attended public school so he wasn’t sure if it was any different. “You guys are able to board there, aren’t you? Is that what you do or do you live with your family?” he asked, hoping to get to know a little more about him. As he turned the question back around onto him, Ethan nodded. “Yeah, I’m a freshman at Whitmore but my family and I moved to Mystic Falls at the start of the school year,” he explained before feeling a smile touch his lips as the guy introduced himself as MG. “It’s a pleasure to meet you too MG,” he said as he held a hand out to him to shake. “That’s an unusual nickname, what does it stand for?”MILTON GREASLEY

I know what it's like to think of yourself as a monster
MG chuckled at the other's words before he nodded his head, too. "Me too, man. Glad I asked." MG said with a grin resting on his lips shortly after his laughter had faded. MG was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to carry out a conversation with the other. In fact, it didn't take them long at all to start teasing one another. MG let out a chuckle at his teasing words before he decided to play along. "Right? It's impossible to imagine that this angelic face was hyperactive when he was a kid." MG teased with a grin resting on his lips. "Yeah, it definitely started my obsession from a young age. I used to really, really want to be a part of a super squad when I was a kid. Just the thought of saving people made me really happy."
MG's expression must have changed noticeably because the other was actually able to pick up on it and ask him if he was okay. He smiled genuinely and nodded his head a few times. "I am, thank you." MG assured him, his tone carrying a hint of softness to it. There was something about the other that comforted him and told him that he could be honest with him if he wanted to, but if he told Ethan about his parents, then he'll have to tell him about the fact that he was a vampire and from the looks of it, the other was a human. He knew how important it was to keep supernatural beings a secret. It was for their sake and the humans' sake, too. MG longed for the day that they could all live harmoniously without having to hide who they were. If the school showed him anything, it's that supernatural beings can live together. So maybe in the near future, it will be possible for them to live with humans, too. "Alright, bet. I'll let you know what I think next time."
MG nodded his head a few times at Ethan's next words. "That sounds pretty good to me. I'll be sure to let you know." MG said with a grin resting on his lips. "I can already tell I'm gonna be coming here pretty often." MG said with a chuckle falling from his lips not long after. Thankfully, Ethan seemed to believe him when he said that the Salvatore School was a school for the rich. It was the only thing he could come up with at the spot. "It's —" MG trailed off, trying to find the right words to describe what its like to go to the Salvatore School. "Interesting, for sure." MG let out a chuckle at that. "But, it's pretty much like a normal school. We have homework and everything, we're not that different." Except for the part that all students were supernatural beings one way or the other. "It's my home. Well, my second home, that is." MG concluded, his voice was much softer now.
"Yeah! A few of my friends live there. As for me, I live with my family." MG revealed with a quick nod of his head following. While MG wasn't linked to the Salvatore family in any way, they still felt like a family to him. They meant a lot to him, too.
"Oh, that explains why I haven't seen you around before." MG released a small hum at that. "Well, what do you think about Mystic Falls and Whitmore so far?" MG questioned in a curious tone, wanting to get to know the other a little more. When Ethan extended his hand for a handshake, MG was more than happy to take his hand in his own and give it a firm shake. "Milton Greasley, but my friends call me MG. You're my friend now, so now you can call me MG too." MG said with a friendly smile resting on his lips before he released Ethan's hand from his grip.

“Same here,” Ethan nodded as the guy said he was glad he’d asked. Ethan always liked helping others find something specific they were looking for but he always preferred it when he was able to recommend something that they ended up enjoying. He’d read more comic books over the years than he could even count and he’d tried out so many different ones. He knew that there really was something out there for everyone and he was glad that he had the chance to help the guy find something new. “Definitely. I would have thought you were the quiet type without a little extra help,” Ethan joked, glad that it was so easy to talk to the other guy. He had made a few friends since he started at Whitmore but none of them knew this side of him and that was something that Ethan had been wanting to let out. “I’m with you on that, I’ve always wanted to be a superhero,” he admitted, knowing that if there was anyone who would get that then it was this guy. “My mom is a cop so I may have got my hands on a police scanner once or twice to see if there is anything I could help with,” he added, hoping that the guy wouldn’t judge him for it. There were two things that made Ethan feel like he had found his purpose, one was playing football and the other was helping people so he tried to do both as much as he could. Something had changed in MG’s expression and that had worried Ethan a little but as he said that he was okay, Ethan simply nodded. They had only just met so he knew that it wasn’t his place to press MG for an answer or anything like that but at the same time if the guy wanted to talk then Ethan knew that he would always listen. He could already see that MG was someone that he could see himself being good friends with and he hoped that he would get that chance. “Great. I work at least one day most weekends,” Ethan nodded. He wasn’t able to do much during the week because of school but picking up shifts at the weekend was something that he tried to do as much as he could. Sometimes he was able to work on his assignments during quiet moments but so far juggling both wasn’t proving to be too bad. “Sounds good,” Ethan nodded as MG said he would be sure to let him know who his favourites were so he could order some comics in if he needed to. As he said he could tell that he was going to be coming here pretty often, Ethan felt a smile touch his lips. “In that case I’m looking forward to seeing you around.” There were often a few faces he recognised who kept coming back to the shop but MG was one he hadn’t seen before. He was definitely someone who was easy to get on with, though, so Ethan hoped that he would come back. “That sounds pretty cool,” he admitted as MG explained about his school. “It sucks that I won’t see you around Whitmore but hopefully I’ll see you around town a bit more.” Ethan had never really had much of a problem making friends but he had never found it this easy to get on with someone before. As MG said that a few of his friends lived at the school while he lived with his family, Ethan nodded. “Here I was thinking I was one of the few who would choose to live at home rather than in the dorms and just travel back and forth each day,” he chuckled. “There’s nothing like staying close to family, is there?” He had been offered the chance to move into the dorms but he had decided to stay at home with his mom and sister instead. They had only moved into the house at the start of the school year and they were still working on making it their home but as far as he was concerned it was much better than living in the dorms. As MG asked what he thought of Mystic Falls and Whitmore so far, Ethan’s expression turned thoughtful for a moment. “My school is pretty nice but I prefer Mystic Falls to Whitmore. Everyone here has been really friendly so far while at Whitmore people are happier to drift by without always acknowledging others.” It was the small town vibe, probably. A smile touched Ethan’s lips as MG shook his hand and he couldn’t help but laugh as MG spoke again. “In that case I consider myself pretty lucky,” he grinned. “Is everyone around here as easy to talk to as you?” he asked as he released MG’s hand. I know what it's like to think of yourself as a monster
MG chuckled at the other's words. "I totally give off the vibe, for sure." He teased light-heartedly. He felt a small smile form on his lips as the other revealed that he'd always wanted to be a super hero. He let out a dramatic gasp at the revelation that the other got his hands on his mom's police scanner once or twice before. "Woah, color me impressed, man. You definitely don't give off the vibe of someone who'd do that. Interesting." MG said with a grin resting on his lips. "But I get it. I always wanted to help out too, y'know. Make a difference in the world, protect people who can't protect themselves. Like a true super hero." MG said with a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. Even with his current powers, MG still doesn't think of himself as a super hero. Though if a situation presented itself where he could save someone using his powers, he'd never hesitate. If he can at least make one good thing happen with his powers, then maybe he'll start feeling better about being a vampire. "That's dope, man." MG replied when the other revealed that he worked at least one day most weekends. "It can't be easy juggling a job and college, so I totally get it."
MG's smile was still visible on his lips as he listened to the other talk. "Me too." MG admitted in a gentle voice. He was definitely looking forward to seeing him around. "Yeah, it's unfortunate that we go to different colleges, but hey, we'll see each other often. I'm sure of it." MG said with a nod of his head following, his smile still visible on his lips. MG let out a chuckle at his next words before he shook his head. "They're definitely worth the sacrifice of getting up early and commuting back and forth." MG agreed with a beaming grin on his lips. "No, there really isn't." MG agreed once again with him almost instantly.
MG nodded his head as he listened to Ethan, showing that he was listening to him intently as he spoke. "I totally get what you mean." MG said with a quick nod of his head following. "In this case, I hope you continue enjoying your time here in Mystic Falls with us." MG said with a soft smile resting on his lips. "If you ever wanna hang out, feel free to hit me up. I can give you my number, if you'd like." MG let out a chuckle as Ethan called himself pretty lucky to be MG's friend. "You totally are." MG teased playfully, his grin still visible on his lips. "Well, to be honest, I think it's just the power you hold, Ethan. You're pretty easy to talk to." MG said, his honesty visible in the tone of his voice.
"I really don't have a doubt in my mind that you'll be making friends pretty quickly here." MG added with a quick nod of his head following.

“You got that right. You would have got away without me thinking otherwise if you hadn’t said anything,” Ethan chuckled, more than happy to play along. MG definitely didn’t seem like the kind of guy who would sit quietly in a corner when there were other things going on unless he had something to keep him occupied and the truth was that a lot of the time Ethan was the same although with a sister like Maya he was used to not being the centre of attention when he was at home. “What, you mean I don’t seem like the rule breaking type?” Ethan laughed, knowing that MG would probably be right about that most of the time. He often ended up going to parties like a normal teenager and that kind of thing but borrowing the police scanner was different. He knew that he could get into real trouble for it but the truth was that he had wanted to help and it had seemed like the best way of doing that. “I knew you’d get it,” he nodded as MG said that he’d always wanted to protect people who couldn’t protect themselves too. “If you ever find yourself at a lose end and want to give it a shot let me know,” he added, pretty sure that with MG’s help then they might be able to make a real difference around town. “I’ve only been here a few months but it already seems like there’s a lot going on in this town.” Between the animal attacks and disappearances there seemed to be plenty going on to keep the police busy and he wouldn’t be surprised if they could use some help. “I got in on a football scholarship so I’m juggling that as well but it seems to be working so far. My boss is pretty cool, he seems to get it when I’m busy,” he nodded. “Same here. It seems the Grill is pretty popular, we’re probably run into each other there if we don’t here,” Ethan agreed. MG was definitely someone that Ethan was going to remember, he was easy to talk to and seemed like a genuinely good guy so he was glad that the guy had decided to stop by the shop that day. “I couldn’t agree more. I get that some people want their freedom but I love my family, I’d hate to be so far away from them.” His mom and his sister were all that he had left now so he was glad that he got to be around them both still. “I’m sure I will. I loved my old home but Mystic Falls seems better somehow so far,” Ethan admitted. He couldn’t quite put his finger on it but he was already starting to feel like he belonged there and that was something that he had never really had in his old home. “I’d really like that if you have time,” he nodded as MG offered to give him his number so they could hang out. “I imagine you probably have a lot of friends here already.” MG definitely seemed like that kind of person, Ethan had a feeling that the guy could get along with just about anyone just like Ethan could. Rolling his eyes playfully as MG said he was lucky he was able to call him a friend, Ethan felt a smile touch his lips at the guy’s next words. “I could say the same about you, you’re pretty easy to talk to yourself,” he admitted, knowing that he hadn’t found anyone this easy to talk to in a long time. “Thanks, I hope you’re right,” he nodded. “I had a lot of friends back home but at Whitmore it’s like a lot of the others already know each other. I’ll get there though,” he shrugged. It wasn’t always easy to break into friendship groups that had already established but he’d made a few friends so far and he knew that he wasn’t going to give up. I know what it's like to think of yourself as a monster
MG chuckled at the other's words before he shook his head. It was a little surprising how easy it was for him to get along with the other. He seemed like a pretty chill guy and MG was glad that they had crossed paths. The last couple of days if not weeks have been really stressful for MG, so for him to unwind like this was pretty nice. "Yeah! You really don't." MG said with a chuckle falling from his lips not long after. "Like if you hadn't said anything, I would've thought that you were an innocent kid growing up." MG added with a grin resting on his lips after his laughter had died off. He understood what the other meant, though. He often felt that way because of how much he loved super hero comic books and how much he longed to be one himself. But the real world was a lot more complicated than that. MG's brows quirked up at Ethan's next words before his lips formed a small smile and he nodded his head. "Sure, man. Just as long as we're safe about it. I know Mystic Falls may seem like a harmless town, but we shouldn't push it, y'know?" MG didn't want to put the other in danger, so he knew that he'd have to be extra safe about this with Ethan. "Honestly? You'd be surprised. It's definitely a busy small town." With the animal attacks and everything else. It was no ordinary small town.
MG breathed a soft 'wow' at Ethan's next words. "Damn, it sounds like you've got a busy life. Actually, I play football back at school, too. I'm not good at it, but it's pretty fun." MG said with a grin tugging at the corner of his lips, his eyes relaxed on the other. "Oh, yeah, you've got that right. The Grill is basically one of the hottest spots here. Sounds like a plan, though. I have a feeling that we're gonna bump into each other more often."
MG nodded his head in an understanding manner at Ethan's next words. "Yeah, I totally get what you mean. I feel the exact same way." MG agreed with him, his smile still visible on his lips as he spoke. "There's just something special about Mystic Falls. It feels... home-y." It was that allure that brought more and more people to Mystic Falls despite how unsafe it actually was behind the picture of a perfect small town. "Bet, man. Can I have your phone to put my number in?" MG asked with that very same friendly smile still visible on his lips.
MG ducked his head with a grin resting on his lips when Ethan made the perfect deduction that he had a lot of friends here. "Thanks, Ethan." He didn't want to sound too cocky or come off as someone who was showing off that he had lots of friends, so he settled for thanking the other for his comment. His grin remained on his lips when Ethan said that he was pretty easy to talk to. He appreciated his kind words, though. "You will, man. Don't worry about it." MG patted him on the shoulder with a smile visible on his lips. "As long as you try, then that's all that matters." MG added a moment later. "If you'd like, I could also introduce you to my friends. They're pretty cool." MG offered, his eyes fixed on Ethan.

“That’s just how I deceive people, they think I’m all innocent but I’m really a vigilante. Rescue Guy’s the name,” Ethan chuckled. He knew that it wasn’t strictly true since he hadn’t been able to help much on his own but he had at least needed to try and he didn’t regret it. There were times when he found himself thinking about following in his mom’s footsteps by becoming a cop but the truth was that he hadn’t made his mind up yet. He didn’t know exactly what he wanted to do with his life but he had time in which to figure that out and until then he knew that he wanted to continue trying to make a difference, no matter how small. “Trust me, I know Mystic Falls isn’t harmless. I keep hearing about the animal attacks and disappearances, some of the guys at school think I’m crazy for living here but I still like it,” Ethan shrugged. “My mom has told me about some of the cases she has worked as well so I’m not going into this blindly,” he added, not wanting MG to think that he was doing this on a whim that would end up getting him hurt or killed. He knew that he had to be careful, they had already lost his dad and Ethan knew that he wasn’t going to let his mom and sister lose him as well. It might just be the three of them now but they were still just as close as ever, perhaps even more so in fact, and he knew that he would never do anything to jeopardise that. “It is but I’d rather that than be bored,” Ethan grinned as MG said it sounded like he had a busy life. He knew that he wasn’t a typical jock but the truth was that he was actually pretty proud of that. He didn’t like people thinking that he was only ever going to fit into one box, he was who he was and he didn’t regret that. “Seriously?” he asked as MG said that he played football too. “If you ever want to toss the football around let me know, I’ll take all the practice I can get,” he said, knowing that he was going to need it with the level of competition at Whitmore. He knew that he was good but there were other guys vying for his position and he knew that he wasn’t about to let them take it from him. “It sounds like it, it’ll be fun,” he nodded, knowing that he was definitely going to have to spend more time at the Grill now if what MG had said was right. “It is. I wasn’t expecting that when we moved here,” Ethan admitted. Truth be told he hadn’t known what he would end up thinking about Mystic Falls but so far the town really did feel like home and he hoped that would never change. His mom and Maya both liked the town from what they had said as well and being there meant that they had the chance to start over so he was glad that they had decided to make the move. “Of course, here you go,” he said, taking his phone out of his pocket and unlocking it before handing it over to MG once it was on the screen to create a new contact. MG didn’t deny it when Ethan said that he bet he had a lot of friends and Ethan really couldn’t say that he was surprised. MG was an easy guy to get along with and he was certain that he wasn’t the only one who would feel that way. “Exactly. There are a lot of other new students around as well, I’m just not used to starting over somewhere new,” he shrugged. He had never had a problem making friends but there had always at least been kids that he had grown up around as a starting point. Now it was just him and Maya but Ethan knew that he wasn’t going to give up, he would find a circle of friends he belonged with it was just a matter of time. “That would be great, thanks,” Ethan nodded, offering MG a smile as he looked over at him. They might go to a different school but Ethan knew that he certainly wasn’t the kind of guy to worry about that even if some of them did play for a rival football team. “So do you have any siblings or is it just you?” he asked, not sure what MG’s family setup was like. I know what it's like to think of yourself as a monster
MG chuckled at the other's hero name. "Rescue Guy?" He repeated with a grin tugging at the corner of his lips as his laughter faded. "That's — a pretty good vigilante name. Unique." He said with the same grin still resting on his lips, visible and beaming. Though it wasn't long before he was warning Ethan about not pushing it and from what Ethan was saying, he understood the dangers that lurked in the shadows. Perhaps not to same extent as MG but he understood regardless which made a lot of things easier for MG. "Okay, good. That's a relief then." MG said with a gentle smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "In that case, I'd be honored to join you, Rescue Guy." MG pretended to zip his lips shut. "I should keep your identity a secret, my bad." He pretended to be serious for a moment before a chuckle fell from his lips not long after.
MG nodded his head in an understanding manner. "I totally get that, man. There's nothing worse than boredom." MG agreed with him in a heartbeat because nothing could beat that overwhelming feeling that boredom brings along. "Are you perhaps insinuating that I don't look like the sporty kind?" MG questioned, pretending to be offended by Ethan's surprise. "Kidding. Yeah, seriously. It's not that serious or anything, mostly doing it for fun." MG added with a gentle smile resting on his lips, his eyes still on the other. "You know what? I'd love that, actually." MG agreed almost instantly. It'd be fun to hang out with Ethan some more. Plus, he genuinely sounded like a cool guy to be around and MG was excited to see him around more and more. He didn't want this to be their only meeting.
MG nodded his head in agreement with Ethan. Mystic Falls didn't look like it was all that much from afar. It was the kind of power that the town held. It could surprise you for sure. "Thanks," MG took Ethan's phone so that he could put his number in, saving his number under 'MG' and then rang his number so that he could also save Ethan's number. He held the phone out for Ethan to take once he was all done. "Here you go. Feel free to hit me up whenever you want to." MG said with a gentle smile resting on his lips as he took his phone out so that he could save Ethan's number before pocketing it once more.
MG nodded his head in an understanding manner as he listened to Ethan. "That's completely valid. Also, hey, like you said there are other students around, maybe you could bond with them over this? They'd definitely understand what you're feeling, too." MG suggested with a quick shrug of his shoulders, his eyes focused on the other as he spoke. "That is, if they're the friendly kind. I hope they are, though. You can make a friend outta anyone, you just gotta have the patience for it." MG said with a half-smile resting on his lips.
"Of course. I do have a couple of friends who love comic books, so I'm definitely bringing a few of them with me next time. I'll check with you first if you're working on that day though." That way, it'd be easier to introduce Ethan to his friends. "But take it from me, you really don't need my help with making friends. You'll do wonderfully on your own, man." MG assured him. His words weren't meant to be overexaggerating or anything like that. They were honest.
"Well, in my original family, I was an only kid. In my new family, I do have siblings. I, uh..." MG was quiet for a moment as he tried to find the most mundane way possible to explain what had happened with his family. "I'm not close anymore with my mom and dad. We haven't really talked in a while and I don't think we'll be able to any time in the future. Uhm... But then I found a new family here in Mystic Falls. They mean a lot to me. I consider them my family. So, in short, yes, I do have siblings now which is pretty awesome." MG said with a grin forming on his lips already. "You mentioned that you moved here with your family. Do you have siblings?"

“It’s lame, I know,” Ethan said, suddenly feeling a little embarrassed about it. Considering the amount of superhero comics he had read he knew that he really should have come up with something better than that but he still liked it nonetheless although he couldn’t help but wonder if perhaps he might just have embarrassed himself in front of a new friend. “You think so?” he asked, not sure whether MG was just being nice or whether he really meant it. “Have you ever thought about what your superhero name would be?” Ethan wasn’t sure whether he ever would have done or not but he couldn’t deny that he was curious. With his mom and her job as a cop he had grown up knowing that there were always going to be dangers out there in the world so he really wasn’t going into this without thinking but he knew that MG was right and he needed to be careful. “Yeah, you don’t need to worry about that with me man,” Ethan assured him. He knew that he was going to try and make sure that he didn’t end up getting hurt, after all he had his mom and sister to think about as well as his spot on the football team, and he couldn’t deny that trying to help out around town sounded like much more fun with MG for company. As MG spoke again, Ethan couldn’t help but laugh. “Don’t worry, I’m sure no one would believe you if you shouted it from the rooftops,” he chuckled. “Perhaps I should do a Clark Kent and start sporting glasses when I’m hiding my alter ego,” he added with a grin. “You’re right about that, give me a comic book or a movie and I’m happy to sit still for a while but otherwise I prefer being active,” he admitted. It was the way he had always been as far as he could remember and it hadn’t changed as he had gotten older. He was always happier when he had something to do, otherwise his attention seemed to wander pretty quickly. As MG asked if he was insinuating that he didn’t look like the sporty kind, Ethan couldn’t help but laugh. “I might be,” he chuckled. “That’s not a bad thing though, I always like it when looks are deceiving,” he admitted. He had learned a long time ago that there was often more to people than met the eye but there were times when people still surprised him anyway. “Same here, I’m looking forward to it,” he nodded. “How does Monday after school sound?” he asked, knowing that he had a free night then considering his mom had to work and Maya had cheerleading practice. Handing his phone to MG, he watched as the guy put his number in before ringing his own phone so that MG would have his number as well. “Thanks, I will,” Ethan nodded. “Same goes for you, anytime you’re free give me a call.” MG had more friends around him right now so Ethan didn’t doubt that he would be the busier of the two of them in that respect but Ethan knew that they would figure something out. “Maybe, you never know,” Ethan nodded. “It’s just a case of finding the right fit. Some of the guys on the football team can be jerks at times and some of their friends are a bit stuck up. I don’t have time for people like that,” he added with a shrug. He knew that he would find a group that he fit in with, it was just a case of finding the right one although it had to be said that that was much easier at high school given that he would have classes with the same people quite often. Ethan knew that he wasn’t going to give up though, that wasn’t his style. As MG said he would bring a few friends along who loved comic books next time, Ethan felt a smile touch his lips. “That sounds great,” he admitted, knowing that it would be good to meet some of the people that MG was friends with especially if they were all as friendly as he was. “Thanks for the vote of confidence,” he said sincerely. “I know I’ll make some sooner or later but I’ve got one friend in town now anyway so I’ll call that a win.”Ethan listened intently as MG spoke about his family. The way his voice trailed off was a little strange but it sounded like he had a rather complicated family set up so Ethan definitely understood. “I’m sorry about your parents but I’m really glad you’ve found a new family here, you deserve it,” Ethan said gently. “So what siblings have you got now – brothers, sisters?” he prompted, wanting to know a little more about MG’s family if he was happy talking about them. “I know families can be complicated so you don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to,” he added quickly, not wanting MG to feel like he had to. As MG turned the question back around on him, Ethan nodded. “I have a sister, Maya,” he nodded. “Technically she’s my half sister but she’s only a few months older than I am and we’re in the same year so we grew up practically like twins,” he explained. “She goes to Whitmore too and my mom is a cop. It’s just the three of us now, my dad died a couple of years ago. That’s why we decided we all wanted a fresh start after senior year, we wanted to get away from all of the memories.”MILTON GREASLEY

I know what it's like to think of yourself as a monster
MG shook his head at the other's next words. "I don't think it's lame." He assured him with a half-smile resting on his lips. "Yeah, it's a killer name." MG said, his smile stretching into a grin instead. "Oh, man, that's a tough question." MG thought about it for a moment, releasing a small hum. "I'll have to really think 'bout it. After all, my superhero name should be one that I can wear with pride." MG said with a soft chuckle falling from his lips shortly after.
MG nodded his head a few times at Ethan's reassurance when he told him that he doesn't need to worry about that with him. It made things a whole lot easier for MG. He was just glad that he didn't have to explain why they both need to be careful. Ethan already knew that on his own, so that was pretty good. MG couldn't help but laugh at Ethan's next words. "Alright then, you can be Clark Kent and I can be Bruce Wayne. We'll hide our alter egos together." MG said with a grin resting on his lips still.
MG couldn't help but agree with what Ethan was saying. "Oh, man, I can't tell you how many times I've fallen asleep at ungodly hours just because I couldn't put my comic book down. It's dangerous. I'm pretty sure it's an addiction at this point." MG said with a chuckle falling from his lips. "But I totally get that. I'm the same way." MG added a moment later. He felt like he was definitely on the same boat as Ethan. MG gasped, continuing on with his act of pretending to be offended but then his expression shifted into one of pleasant surprise as a soft 'oh' escaped his lips before he grinned. "In that case, I'll consider it a good thing that I deceived you."
"Sounds perfect to me." MG agreed with a quick nod of his head following. He was free that day which made a lot of things easier for him. That way, he could go and see Ethan without any hitches. "Can't wait." MG grinned and tapped his fingers on the table. "I will, thank you." It was MG's turn to thank Ethan when he told him that he could call him whenever he was free. MG nodded his head in an understanding manner as he listened to Ethan explain that some of the guys on the football team can be jerks at times. "That's... Yeah, you definitely don't need people like these in your life." MG agreed with a quick nod of his head following. They didn't sound like a pleasant bunch to hang out with and from what he could tell about Ethan so far, he was a really sweet guy. Pretty cool, but also pretty sweet.
MG's lips stretched into a gentle smile when Ethan thanked him. "It's just the truth." MG assured him with the same softness still easy to hear. His expression brightened at Ethan's next words, his grin returning with ease. He, too, considered Ethan to be his friend. "Thank you, E."
MG's expression softened when Ethan apologized then the next words were enough to put a smile on his lips. "I appreciate it. I really do." MG replied when he told him that he deserved his new family. "I have a brother and a sister. They're pretty cool, actually." MG said with a quick nod of his head following. "No, it's okay, I trust you, E." MG felt like he could trust him and MG's gut feeling was rarely ever wrong.
MG was quiet as he listened to Ethan talk more about his family. "I'm really sorry to hear about your dad, E." MG said with a small sad frown tugging at his features. "I'm glad that you have your mom and sister with you. I hope you guys stay together and stay happy for a long, long time. You deserve it." MG said with a gentle smile resting on his lips. "And I hope you guys have a great stay with us here." MG added with the same smile on his lips. Ethan really deserved the best, so did his family even though MG has yet to have the honor of meeting them. But, if his mom raised such a great son then she was an even greater mom, so was his sister. He had no doubt in his mind about that. "I'm not keeping you from your job, am I? I don't want you to get in trouble because of me."
