━ if you bled, I'll bleed the same. if you're scared, I'm on my way ━
Lucian was more than happy to return the kiss, his hand moving up as if it had adapted a mind of its own and came to rest on Alexander's cheek before he departed from the kiss, a smile ever-present on his lips. "I know, my darling. But things were different back then, we had our own unfinished business that we needed to deal with." Lucian's voice was soft as he spoke, his even softer gaze was focused on the taller, watching him. "I was not the most upfront with my own feelings back then, but worry not, darling. I harbored those feelings for you from the very beginning." He admitted with a nod of his head that showcased he agreed with Alexander's statement. "Before we reunited during the war, I couldn't admit my feelings because I was worried that it would ruin our friendship. Times were very different back then and same-sex relationships weren't as widely accepted as they are now, so that was also one of the main reasons I couldn't confess my feelings for you. When we reunited during the war, it didn't feel like it was time yet. I'm not sure how to explain it, but at the time, I was grieving the loss of someone important to me and we were on opposites sides and even we got out, it didn't feel like it was time. But now? Now it's perfect, my darling. This is perfect. I could not be happier." Lucian reached his hand to put it on top of Lucian's, giving it a gentle tap. As he listened to Alexander, he couldn't help but agree more with the younger. He wasn't able to get Alexander out of his head either and as much as he wanted to see the younger, he felt it within his heart that they were going to cross paths again and to know that he wasn't wrong made him feel a lot happier. "Oh, don't worry about it, my dear. I'm just thinking of ways to charm your boss." Lucian said with a half-smile resting on his lips.
"It is a shame. But I suppose we're a lot more open when we're drunk. They do say that drunk people are very honest, so we definitely took that chance to pour everything out and then proceeded to put rings on each other's fingers." Lucian said with a brief chuckle falling from his lips. He couldn't help but agree with the younger as he talked about them adopting kids. "You're right. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it. In the meantime, we'll enjoy our time as being newlyweds." Lucian said with a half-smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
Soon enough, it was time for him to meet Alexander's boss, Evangeline. "Oh, you flatter me." Lucian said with a half-smile on his lips when she said that Alexander's description didn't do him justice. "Thank you." He replied when she said that they made a really handsome couple. It was a compliment he cherished dearly from Evangeline. He glanced over at Alexander, his smile still present on his lips.
"Oh, please, I just speak from my heart. Truly. But I am glad to hear that Alexander has been talking about me." Lucian said with a smile on his lips, his eyes finding his husband's once more. "Between you and I, he swept me off my feet first. I mean, how could you resist that adorable face?" Lucian leaned in as if letting Evangeline in on a big secret before he leaned back. "Thank you, we will." Lucian replied along with Alexander, his smile still present on his lips.
It wasn't long before Evangeline was seeing right through their sudden appearance. Alexander took it upon himself to explain why they were here and Lucian nodded along, his eyes moving from Alexander to rest on Evangeline. "Much appreciated, Evangeline." Lucian replied when it became clear that she was willing to help with their request. Lucian watched as Alexander reached for the bottle and soon enough, Evangeline was catching up on the change. They weren't just together. They were married. His lips parted to answer Evangeline to confirm her statement even though he was pretty sure she knew all too well already but then she moved behind the bar again. Her next words made Lucian's eyes widen a little bit. The brand of the bottle easily gave away the fact that it was very expensive. "Oh, that's quite the gift." Lucian's expression softened, getting the feeling that she was not the type to back down once she's made up her mind. "It's very beautiful." He added a moment later. He was always one to appreciate the beauty that expensive bottles of alcohol carried. "Thank you, Evangeline." Lucian thanked her, his voice still carrying that softness. "We'll enjoy this very much, isn't that right, my dear husband?"
