━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
TO say that she was nervous of her father showing up in this town was an understatement. The day her father arrived in New York was something that not even she could have predicted what would come next. After over years of nowhere to be seen, her father had resurfaced… and darker than ever. She was ignorant and had no idea of the darkness that surrounded her father’s heart, but that recognition of it would land right on her doorstep following William killing one of her closest friends, Savannah. He had actually dropped her head onto her front doorstep. A sadistic act, one she never knew her father was capable of. She couldn’t believe the spilling of the bloody truth of her father's actions. It was almost unbelievable. Her father…a killer? She knew what he was capable of but she never imagined it was murder and it was at that moment that she was forced to recognize the cold hard truth. The man who wore her father's skin was not her father at all. No, he was a monster. The kind of monster who would kill his daughter’s closest friend in cold blood. All of that was a means to send a message – that she was to join him in his sinister crusade or else.
Which is why she had to get the hell out of there while she still could. Now that she knew the extent of how far he would go to get her to join him, there was no telling what else he would do and she damn well didn't want to find out. Her entire life she'd been a Daddy's girl, his little princess. But after her mother's treachery and her grandmother's passing, something inside of him snapped completely, turning him into an unrecognizable monster who she wanted nothing to do with. But he was hell bent at getting his own with her because that's how it always had been his entire life. William Monet got everything he wanted, all he had to do was snap his fingers and he had it. It was sickening when you thought about it and it was never how she asked for things. While she was a lot like her father in some aspects, there was also a lot that she wasn't like him - and his way of getting whatever he wanted no matter the cost was one of them. She would die before she joined her father in his sadistic and psychotic crusade. That much she knew.
Regardless, for now, she was safe. Fleeing hundreds of miles away from where he was proved to be the right move, for now anyways. She wouldn't put it past him to follow her here and god she hoped that didn't prove to be true. Evelyn was genuinely surprised she even got away as easily as she had and a part of her wondered if that was his plan all along, to let her go, only to follow her wherever she went and that thought alone caused her heart rate to increase, and a slight panic began to form within her - although she kept it well hidden, especially while in a public place such as the coffee shop she now called work and while she currently wasn't on the clock, she still had to remain composed.
Once more Evelyn looked around the place. She was sure her father had spies everywhere, relaying information back to him on her whereabouts and her daily routine. It was why she never did the same thing or course twice, she always switched up what she did and where she went and how she got places. Better safe than sorry. Hopefully now with being in a new town with a new appearance, she wouldn't raise any flags where her father was concerned, but knowing how he was, she was sure New York wouldn't be the last place she saw him. Not by a long shot.
It seems like it was a never ending cycle of chaos and violence when it came to her father and on more than one occasion she had asked herself why she couldn't have had a normal, loving father. Was that really so too much to ask for? A father who loved his only child? Someone who would care for her and be a parent? Guess it really was too much to ask for when it came to William Monet and she really shouldn't have expected anything less when it came to his wickedness and sadistic tendencies. William Monet was someone you didn't want to cross, the darkness had gotten the best of him and sucked away any ounce of light that was still inside of his cold heart. Expression, which she had learned was the form of magic he'd grown accustomed to, was dangerous magic. It was magic that could turn even the purest of hearts dark until there was nothing left inside, just the shell of a person that once was. It was saddening, that a form of magic could do such a thing to a person.
And so she sat there, alone, inside of the tiny coffee shop in Mystic Falls, silently praying to herself that her past wouldn't catch up to her. Unknowingly to her, that's exactly what would happen..

━ i shut my eyes and all the world drops dead. ━ SLEEPING IN HER DAD'S OLD PINTO WAS STARTING TO GET OLD. Especially in a town small enough that Andy couldn't sneeze without catching somebody's attention. It beat her why Evie would choose such a place to hide. Maybe, of course, that was why it was so perfect. Andy palmed the small white crystal in her palm, the one that had inevitably led her to Evie's location. Having taught the girl all the earth magic she had known, Andy had grown incredibly close to Evie. She had only been hired to teach her how to be a sacrifice, but Andy had never been able to entirely shut herself off from emotion. Evie had been so kind and pure, Andy had overstepped her boundaries because of her own sentimentality. It had eventually led to her downfall, but it also meant that Andy could find Evie. She knew her magical signature like the back of her hand.
The little café was quaint, in a tourist-y sort of way. How some establishments were made for locals, with a careless air about them, this place differed. It had tales of towns past on the walls, a large and obnoxious welcome sign and a note that declared they made the best coffee in all of Virginia! Try the Mystic Pie, they said, Andy gagged at the dinky feel of it. She had seen Evie's silhouette through the window, staring from across the street through a pair of stolen sunglasses. The gum in her mouth tough from anxious chewing. She could still taste her own blood at the back of her throat, where she'd bitten down to renew the wards on her protective bloodstone necklace. She was playing with fire, searching for a target like Evie, but it was as if Andy couldn't help herself. Obscurity never really suited her.
A bell went off above the door when Andy entered, but Evie didn't even look up. Her back to the door, which as far as Andy was concerned was a rookie mistake. She was, according to rumours, being hunted after all. Andy didn't even stop to wave when the waitress behind the counter chirruped a happy greeting, marching across the cafe's sticky, checked flooring and sliding in to the booth seat opposite to Evie with a steel certainty. She looked a little older, a little thinner. Hair pulled back in to a messy bun and circles under her eyes that looked more like bruises, she wasn't sleeping. Andy couldn't blame her. "Long time no see..." Andy drawled, leaning back in her seat, ankles knocking against Evie's as she pulled the sunglasses from her face and set them down, almost cocky in her perusal of her old friend. "I've been looking for you."

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
TO say that she had a lot on her mind lately was an understatement. First it was the very fact that her father had been ramping up his pestering, having his spies follow her every move, attempting to get as much information on her as possible to be able to give back to her father. It was exhausting to say the least. It had been close to two weeks since she had fled New York and she could already feel her father getting closer and closer to finding her. He was one crafty son of a bitch. It was only a matter of time before he finally caught up with her and she was nowhere near prepared enough for that encounter, not yet anyways.
Having had been up for the majority of the night researching through her grimoire as well as various other sources for ways to hide herself from her father, Evelyn was utterly exhausted. So far she hadn't come up with anything that would help her. Becoming increasingly frustrated Evelyn needed some air... and some caffeine, which was why she had found herself in the coffee shop. With her father being in her head she didn't trust herself to sleep anymore, not for any extended periods of time so she had resorted to other methods that would hopefully help protect her mind from her father's grasp, but knowing how he was and the power he held... she wasn't so sure it would be enough.
The bell attached to the door of the shop rang, seemingly snapping her out of her thoughts. The sound of heels clicking against the concrete floor stirred her attention and then, without a moment's notice, there she sat directly across from her. "Andy?" She spoke, her voice in complete shock at the sight of her former mentor and someone who she had considered to be the sister she never had. Hell, the witch had introduced her to Esme, one of her only friends in this godforsaken world, although she hadn't seen Esme in years. But the sight of Andy was worrisome, was she here on her own accord or was this the work of her father, using her as another means to get to her? Evelyn didn't know and right now, she didn't trust anything or anyone so she was hesitant to believe this was actually Andy sitting only a few feet from her.
But she hoped to god it was her.
'I've been looking for you.' Evelyn was shocked to say the least, and slightly infuriated - stunned more than anything at the turn of events. Back when Andy had up and disappeared without a word to her, she had figured that it had been her father who had gotten to her. She had spent some time mourning a dear friend, thinking the worst. That was until her father told her the truth about why Andy had been introduced into her life in the first place, why she had been that mentor figure in her life, teaching her everything she knew. her father had hired Andy as a means to manipulate her into turning dark, into using dark magic. It was all a game. Andy knew what her father wanted to do with her and she willingly went along with it. Evelyn trusted Andy and that ended up backfiring.
After Andy had vanished, Evelyn had no one left. The one person who she grew to accept and love as a sister left her without any reason as to why, that was util her father let her in on a little secret: that she had left because he had found out that Andy was only using her and nothing more. All the sisterly feelings the two shared were nothing more than a sham for her to give in to her father's wishes She couldn't deny that it didn't hurt. This betrayal running deeper than she could ever imagine. It seems that her father was always brought up in every aspect of her life nowadays. She just couldn't escape William Martineau no matter how hard she tried. Until he was out of the picture completely, he would continue to be a constant threat to her and everyone she cared about. So the very fact Andy was in town wasn't good. As Andy was in town, did that mean her father was too? Was Andy some sort of a spy for him? Did she still work for him? Hell, she didn't know, Andy was always a mystery to her. But regardless if she worked for him or not, why did she decide to show her face now? To which led her to ask her one singular word, one that would hopefully answer some of her questions, but knowing Andy, she wasn't holding her breath.
"Why?"

━ i shut my eyes and all the world drops dead. ━ IT WAS NOT THE WARM WELCOME ANDY HAD DREAMED OF. In fact, the look on Evie's face was a picture. That pale, drawn expression flushing as she reared back - almost as if she had been struck by Andy's appearance. Andy mirrored her, head pulling back and eyebrows lifting. It was odd to be looked upon in such a way by Evie, her expression settling in to a stern frown as she lanced Andy with a chilling stare. Andy had always been received warmly by Evie, with admiration even. It had filled her with an undeniable ego to be perceived in such a manner, perhaps that was the root of her attachment to Evie. She'd never been loved by her brothers, they hadn't even really known her. As children, they had grown to fear her as her mother had. A sad protégé for a twisted man. Evie had not been afraid of her.
Now, Evie looked almost angry. Andy's hands folding in front of her in a slow, deliberate manner. She had expected some ill will, Andy had left her behind after all. But, this was different, it was almost hatred - if Andy assumed correctly. Leaning forward slowly, Andy's lips pulled in to a slow smile as Evie asked her why curtly. Her chin almost laid across her folded hands as she tilted her head and asked, "why not?" Like it was obvious, as if two years hadn't gone by and Andy hadn't left in the night like a ghost, left her alone with the devil. She often wondered if William had always planned to get rid of her. Though it had been Andy who rejected William, there had been an orchestrated air to the act. Maybe that had been his plan all along, though she doubted he factored on Andy returning for his beloved, sacrificial daughter.
"I never would have left you without coming back, I just-" Andy's smile dropped slightly, her mouth flattening as she straightened. The memories of that awful, cursed night coming back to her in icy waves. "You don't get it, you were the closest thing I had to family..." Andy admitted, though it was a tactical revelation Andy actually meant it. As pathetic as it may sound, Evie had been the only real, familial kinship Andy had ever managed to forge. Even her relationship with Esme had been different, more one sided. Her father had been her keeper, her husband had owned her, her mother had feared her. She had no friends, no family. Just Evie and Esme. And she needed them if she was ever going to succeed in killing their common enemy. EVELYN MONET | ooooop

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN didn't know what to think in this moment. All of a suddenly Andy was back and was acting as if everything were fine? Like she hadn't just up and disappeared years ago? Or the fact that she had used her for her father's sadistic gain? Evelyn mourned her, she mourned the life of a person she had grown to know and love like the sister she never had. Then like that, she was gone, as if she never existed, but knowing what she did with what Andy had done with her father... Evelyn didn't feel so sad anymore. What did she even want? Rub it in her face? Now all of a sudden here she was, sitting in front of her like she had been with her the entire time, acting as if nothing changed, as if she didn't change. The drop in visit Andy had given her was, quite frankly, unwelcome and not appreciated in the slightest, which was even more so evident when she sat up straight in her chair, crossing her arms over her chest. Did she just think, that after all this time, she could just show up and everything would go back to how it was?
Seeing anger written across her features seemed to be amusing to Andy, a slow smile spreading across her face as she looked at her as she asked her why she had been looking for her. 'Why not?' She asked her, almost as if she should have known the answer to her own question. Was she serious? The smiling and welcoming demeanor was infuriating. Evelyn was furious, that much was evident from her body language and the fact that her fists were clenched into fists. Her anger seemed to grow worse as time had passed, especially since the encounter with her father back in New York. It didn't help that Andy seemed to dismiss her feelings either, almost condescendingly. Evelyn didn't say a word back in response to Andy's counter question. Did she honestly not know why she was angry at her? Or shocked to see her again after years of nothing?
'You don't get it, you were the closest thing I had to family...' That was laughable. "You don't know the meaning of the word. All I was to you was a pawn, nothing more and nothing less. So save the sob story Andy." She snapped suddenly, not able to contain herself any longer. Her actually saying she was family to her seemed to cause something inside of her to snap completely. After using her to help aid her father, did she honestly think the two were family? Or that she wanted anything to do with her? Hell no. What she didn't get, was why she was here now. What made her seek her out after all these years? "So honestly, why now? After all this time, why seek me out? It's been years Andy..." Years of loneliness, anger, and grief. Years she had spent alone with no family or friends. Throughout school she hadn't been the one to make friends, that only continued when she got to college, although she had met one guy who had caught her attention. But just like everyone else in her life, he too was a complete and utter disappointment.

━ i shut my eyes and all the world drops dead. ━ THOUGH ANDY APPEARED TO OPEN HER HEART AND POUR SUGAR onto the table before Evie, it was not quite the case. She hadn't really come to find Evie so they could kiss and make up. Andy didn't really feel guilty for running as she had, she hadn't had a second option. William was not the type of man to let his enemies collect their belongings after he'd fired them and nearly killed her out of spite. He was an action man without a shred of compassion. Maybe Andy worried how a man like that would punish the people around him for his own misstep, but she hadn't regretted running. Andy didn't have time for such trivial emotions, th0ugh she had thought often about going back for Evie. After all, they were both victims of William's bitter ambition. By the time that Andy had realised how William had dragged her name through the mud, settled her dwindling assets and kicked up a little fuss among her contacts, it had been too late. Evie had been gone, William had been gone - she was just another casualty of that Martineau charm, with a pretty little bounty on her pretty little head.
"Little harsh coming from you..." Andy retorted instinctively, tongue in cheek. Evie knew how delicate the topic of family was for Andy - a cheap shot. Quickly, Andy was coming to the realisation that Evie was mad about more than just Andy running away. She wondered how William had explained it. Had she quit in the night? Family emergency? Stolen the silver? The thought had occurred to her, with a dozen carefully articulated responses from William's silver tongue. Maybe she had been dead, it wasn't as if Andy had been making waves in their shared community any longer. "Is the attitude 'cause I left?" Andy asked plainly, her fingernail digging in to a nick in the table between them. She rolled her bottom lip between her teeth and scowled for a moment, thinking quietly before she plastered on a flat, expressionless mask. "You wanna yell at me for running, that it?" She asked coldly, lifting her gaze to meet Evie's with a renewed strength. "He was gonna kill me."
Dropping her gaze, Andy rolled her eyes underneath dropped lids. This was far more difficult than she had bargained for. Evie had grown hard as the years had passed, her wobbling lip and big, trusting eyes replaced by something far less yielding in nature. Maybe that's what William had done in Andy's absence, killed the softness in his daughter. For the first time since she had left, Andy felt a little shred of guilt curl unwelcomely in her gut. "Do you really wanna know?" Andy asked petulantly, taking her hands from the table and gripping them in to fists underneath - out of sight. "Or, do you just wanna talk chess pieces and make me feel like shit some more?" Andy asked with a small sneer, her lip curling as she spoke. The sympathy bet wasn't working, Andy looked well enough, she'd have to honest enough.

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN couldn't even think straight she was so upset. After all this time Andy wanted to make an appearance? And after what she did to her? How could she have ever thought this meeting would go well? Evelyn was not the innocent teenager she used to be, her Father had made sure of that, Andy had too. Given the shit she had been dealing with for some weeks now, she couldn't be to blame for her lack of enthusiasm, especially not with a drop in as suddenly and unexpected as this one was. Now she had yet another person who would put her even more so in danger, because of her father's incessant vendetta against her and everyone she cared for. Truth be told, no one in this town was safe if he were to show his face in town. Everyone in town was at risk, especially those who threatened him and his crusade. If people got in his way of getting to her... there would be hell to pay.
She knew her anger was justified, especially considering what she learned that Andy had done, why she had up and abandoned her, why she had betrayed her. Instead of owning up to what she had done, she had run away like a coward, had left her behind as if she were trash she couldn't be bothered to take out. It was disheartening and her anger with Andy made perfect sense, so this entire act of hers was beginning to royally piss her off. Did she not care what she had done to her? Had she no sympathy? Thankfully Evelyn had been sent away to a private boarding school to finish out her high school years. It was a must escape from that home which did not feel like home anymore to her, and not to mention it provided her a way to stay away from her father who had turned into a man she didn't recognize, not anymore and probably not ever again.
After everything, she didn't have time for games, not anymore. A lot had changed since she had last seen Andy. She wasn't the same soft teenager she once was, she had moved past thing no thanks to her father and her abandonment issues which increased when Andy had left her without a word. Hearing her state how harsh her words were to hurt made her scoff. She could be a hell lot more harsh if she said what was truly on her mind and with the way things were going that wasn't too far off. 'Is the attitude 'cause I left?' Was she serious? Evelyn gave her a pointed look, as to say seriously? The blonde listened further as Andy explained how her father was going to kill her, which made absolutely no sense to her given the circumstances. Andy's demeanor shifted coldly, her eyes narrowed at her as if she had said the wrong thing and not the other way around.
Before she could even open her mouth to speak Andy continued, asking if she really wanted to know. "Make you feel like shit? Are you kidding?" She snapped, finally letting all of the emotions she was feeling out. Evelyn was tired of tiptoeing around others, especially when she was upset. "If anything you were the one to make me feel like shit. I mean did you even consider how I would feel when I found out the truth? That you were only using me to help my Father and his sick agenda?" The more she spoke the angrier she got and here lately, that was only growing, especially after what her Father had done to Savannah. All of her emotions she had been holding back suddenly began to rise to the surface, mostly anger. This causing the lights in the place to flicker. Ever since the incident with her Father her magic had been very unstable. It had left her feeling immensely vulnerable, terrified to her core. She had been trying to get it under control but it was proving difficult with everything.
Taking several deep breaths she attempted to calm herself down. The last thing she needed was to bring this place down because she couldn't control her magic. Thankfully she was able to do just that, causing the lights to stop flickering. Those inside the coffee shop continued on with their conversations, as if the lights flickering was some sort of electrical fluke. If this conversation continued in the way it was going, the two of them were going to need to continue it outside and away from others. For everyone's sake.

━ i shut my eyes and all the world drops dead. ━ SHE WAS MISSING SOMETHING, Andy thought more pointedly. A vital piece of Evie's gurgling anger as she shot a sharp stare across the table at her. She had expected Evie to be upset that she had left her with William. It hadn't been Andy's first choice when she'd considered escape, but it had been the safest one. William was so obsessed, so egotistical that if Andy - a poor, money-hungry teenager - had taken his prized daughter, he'd have hunted them both to the ends of the earth. This was the kind of logic Andy couldn't help but consider, she was not an overly emotional or sentimental person. She hadn't been raised to be. That didn't mean she hadn't mourned the loss of her connection with Evie. These were all topics Andy wanted to convey to Evie in as little words as possible. But, there was that unspoken air of something else, Andy thought. Some kind of betrayal far beyond simple abandonment. And when the dam burst, it flooded the table in front of them.
Andy could not remember ever seeing Evie so purple with anger. The hairs on her arm, and at the back of her neck, all raising to attention. Every animal instinct in her body telling her to get up, to distance herself, before Evie's fragile control split open fully and the room was flooded with power. She was, after all, William's prodigal daughter. Andy leaned back in her seat, determined to stay in place, though her hand curled in to a fist on the table top, rings knocking against the Formica. The truth. "Pull yourself together." She warned her, falling back in to that teaching dynamic without realised. "Who's truth?" Andy asked soberly, after the dust had settled and the lights stopped flickering anxiously. "Damned fuses!" Andy heard from across the room, but she didn't mind it. "William's truth...?" Her nostrils flared, the reality of that missing piece clicking in to place and leaving a bitter taste in her mouth. She'd always worried that William would get to Evie - turn her against her as he had with every business connect she'd ever had.
Leaning forward suddenly, Andy felt betrayal of her own. The truth was, Andy had taken the job with Martineau to train his daughter. She'd always known, on some level, that it might have been sacrificial or for some ulterior motive. That hadn't been why she'd stayed though. The money was good - great even, but even she'd known there had been an expiration date on a job like that. She'd stayed far longer than rational thought would have had her. She'd stayed for Evie, because she'd grown to care for her. It had been complicated, and not entirely altruistic. Andy was pissed that it seemed so simple to Evie. "You know," She laughed coolly. "I always took you for a daddy's girl, but I never thought you'd believe him over me." Andy slammed her palm on the table and sat back down in her seat, turning her head and trying to pull herself together as they drew a couple of hesitant, nosing stares. "You're not even gonna ask me, are you?" She said between her clenched teeth. "I'm just your scapegoat." Her arms crossed petulantly, but she didn't leave. She couldn't.

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN mentally cursed herself for losing control like she just had. Normally she was excellent at controlling her magical abilities, but seeing Andy again just caused something inside of her to lose any form of control she had held onto all these years. It made her sick to her stomach. The anger she felt had boiled over, spilling onto the surface. That much was evident from the way she lost control, lights flickering all around them as she released a surge of power throughout the room. 'Pull yourself together,' she heard Andy say, warning her she was losing it, that she needing to reign it in or she would risk being exposed to all the humans that were around them. The last thing she needed was exposure, to end up on the news as some sort of freak. That would be the one thing her father would use to his advantage, not only that, but it would give away her location. She didn't need to be found by him, everyone in this town would be in danger if so.
'Damned fuses!' She heard the workers say in unison just as she got a hold of herself once more, reigning in her magic as the lights stopped flickering altogether. Evelyn took several deep breaths in as she calmed herself down, listening to Andy ask her who's truth as it that told her what she had just accused her of, if it were her father who fed it to her, almost as if she couldn't believe she had even said that to her in the first place. Evelyn could see Andy was angry at this notion, her nostrils flaring in response as she tried to figure out why or how she could have believed a word her father had told her which was a damn good question, but the evidence against Andy was damning. And even though she hated her father immensely, that she could never trust him, what he had shown her hadn't been in her dear friend's favor.
Seeing Andy lean forward, Evelyn knew she was about to get an explosion from her. She knew her too well and that particular look on her face wasn't a good one, almost as if she were betrayed and not the other way around. Hearing a cold, humorless, laugh escape Andy's lips made her sit back in her chair, her lips drawing into a fine line at her words, calling her a daddy's girl and how she couldn't even believe that she would take her father's words over her own, that she wouldn't even let her explain herself. 'I'm just your scapegoat,' she said, obviously immensely hurt at this sudden turn of events. With what her father had shown her, she had been so enraged, so filled with hurt that she hadn't thought twice about it. Hadn't thought of the possibility that what he had shown her had been fabricated to get her to hate Andy.
To get her all alone.
And suddenly, she felt bad for what she had said to Andy, someone she had once called a sister. Evelyn realized then she was in the wrong, but she still couldn't help but still be upset that Andy had left in the first place, that she had left him with her, especially if what her father had told her about helping him with his sick plans was actually false. A few moments of silence passed before Evelyn let out a sigh, leaning forward in her own chair as she looked at Andy. "Alright. Alright. Is any of it true?" She asked finally, shoving down what pride and anger she had deep down inside of her, giving her a chance to speak, to explain what had really happened. Evelyn knew she owed it to Andy to let her explain, to see her side of things. Andy was right though, how could she believe her father over her without even giving her a chance to explain?

━ i shut my eyes and all the world drops dead. ━ ANDY'S RAGE COOLED IN THE WAKE OF WHAT SHE HAD DONE. The fragile uncertainty on Evie's face making her lean back and swallow around the tightening in her throat. It was true, though, that they had been closer than this accusation thrown between them. Distance did strange things to intense bonds, Andy thought. She didn't have many to compare it too, but she thought if she ever did, this would be a perfect example. "That's better..." She muttered indignantly, tucking away her rage like a finely tailored shirt tail. It wasn't always so easily managed, but she had a sort of pride around Evie that she didn't have with others. Like she had to appear composed, lest she think Andy was anything less than a formidable force. Maybe it was the Martineau blood in her that encouraged posturing, Andy didn't think about it for very long.
"Any of it..?" Andy asked, drawing out the inevitability of truth as long as she could manage. It felt, for just a moment, like she was making headway with Evie. Her appearance relaxing slightly, face crumpling with something like regret. It felt good to Andy, even if it wasn't deserved. She couldn't help but enjoy that little shred of power she had in that moment. Though, she realised very quickly that if she wanted Evie's help killing her father, there could be nothing that might turn them against one and other. "I don't know what he told you," She crossed her arms haughtily, turning her face away and chewing on the inside of her bottom lip. "Nothing good, I bet." She sniffed, still petulantly angry that William had truly turned everyone against her.
There was a drawn out moment then. Andy watching as a waitress came through from the back swinging a wrench and a coffee pot simultaneously. Nobody knew what Andy felt forced to confess, nobody but her and maybe Evie. "I knew what I was getting paid in the beginin'- sort'a, a' don't know." Andy's face screwed up and she sat forward suddenly, restless with honesty. "It's complicated- I'm not..." A huff of exasperation cleared passed Andy's lips and she tore a napkin to shreds in an effort to busy her hands. "I'm not gonna bother telling you shit if you're gonna leave before I finish..." Andy snapped, lifting her gaze to stare sternly across the table at Evie. "I'm not here to waste either of our time, or money." Definitely not money, never money.

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN was not the same girl Andy once knew, her Father was to thank for that. Ever since New York it was seeming like he was becoming increasingly relentless in his pursuits, which didn't help her paranoia to any extent. It had gotten even worse since New York, the constant look over her shoulder, the consistent nightmares, waking up in cold sweats. It was never ending so it seemed. No thanks to her father, she didn't have a good nice's sleep, not since the night before the incident... That was the only night she had gotten any sort of peaceful rest. Ever since then her sleep issues have increased to full blown insomnia. Not even the help of sleeping spells were of any use. The fear of her father and what he might do was entirely too much for her to be able to handle and she was getting immensely close to her breaking point.
It was only a matter of time before she had a full on mental breakdown, one in which she wouldn't recover from. She could only hope this so called 'war' between her and her father would come to an end, and soon. But if she were being honest, she didn't think it would ever truly end, not until her father was dead. Which made her wonder, if Andy had been looking for her, maybe that was why? If her father had lied about Andy being involved in his sadistic plans for her and was going to kill her, maybe she was telling her the truth. Maybe she should give her a chance to explain. Evelyn couldn't deny that Andy was right in saying she shouldn't believe her father over her, with everything he had done it shouldn't come as a surprise that he had lied to her. Once again manipulating her for his own personal gain. She was mentally kicking herself for even believing his lies in the first place. What her father did to her was unfair and should have never happened.
'I don't know what he told you..nothing good I bet,' Andy said to her, crossing her arms over her chest almost as if she were pouting. Evelyn remained quiet, opting not to open her mouth and to let Andy actually speak, to explain her story. After all, it was hers to tell. A moment passed where neither spoke, instead watching the waitress pass just as Andy was before turning to look back at her as she began to speak, but as she began to explain, she suddenly stopped dead in her tracks, instead snapping at her that she wasn't even going to bother explaining if she was just going to end up leaving before she could even finish. That was fair, why bother explaining if she wasn't even going to stick around to listen to the end? "I'm not going anywhere. Continue." She said, reassuring Andy that she was telling her the truth, that she wasn't going to go anywhere. Evelyn had believed her father's lies when she shouldn't have. God she felt naive and foolish. How could she have even believed him in the first place? Over Andy? Someone she had considered to be her sister, her confidant? The anger she felt wasn't justified to any extent and she knew why Andy felt so betrayed, so flabbergasted that she could have even believed the lies he told.
One things for sure, she wouldn't make that mistake again.

━ i shut my eyes and all the world drops dead. ━ ANDY HAD HALF-WAY HOPED THAT EVIE WOULD JUST LEAVE. The burden of truth was a heavy weight to bear, and she realised she did not like bearing it. In her humble opinion, nobody was entitled to honesty. A person should not expect truth from others, Andy thought, because that only bred disappointment. People were inherently dishonest - she was inherently dishonest. But, it was Evie. And despite her better judgement, Andy did not immediately wish to lie to her. Even in her new, bitter hardness, Evie was still the same kid Andy had first met. So eager to learn, so unaware at the time of her father's sadistic nature.
"Alright..." She breathed, twisting her neck from one side to the other, waiting to feel it crack woodenly. She watched the joints in her hands flex for a moment, steeling herself for whatever end came of this, then she looked up, squared her jaw and opened her mouth. "Your dad hired me to prepare you for a ritual." Andy said matter-of-factly. "I wasn't hired just as your tutor, I wasn't hired as your friend... I was to prep you for a harvest moon." Andy had unknowingly begun to to wring her hands, a cold sweat breaking out at the back of her neck. "He- the bastard was tellin' the truth about that." She nose wrinkled in disgust, how awful it felt to verbalise such a nasty collaboration. "I was young, I was- I was just wanted to be good at what I was doin' and- and your dad, he made me feel like I was good." The bitterness was undeniable in her tone, Andy had to drop her head and unclench her fingers, which had gone bloodless. "I... hate myself for that." Andy hissed in to the table, her throat tight.
More than anything else, Andy hated that she had been so thoroughly naïve about William that it had cost her everything. Through a curtain of hair, Andy stared at Evie, as if expecting the mirrored hatred in her old friends eyes. She couldn't decipher it immediately. "I did love you like a sister," She said desperately, her mouth stiff and so unusual without its curling humour. "You were like- I genuinely cared for you," She nodded her head, sitting back and hiding her hands under the table, as if to hide her weakness as they began to wring themselves together once more. "Your dad was so good at what he did, he really made me feel like you would be fine- like we'd both be fine at the end of it all. Better, powerful... not just him." The confession was starting to feel like damning evidence the more that Andy spoke. "Obviously... it didn't work out like that." She curled a few fallen locks behind her hair restlessly. "Money was real good though," Andy spat humourlessly, shaking her head and sitting back so that her head leaned against the seat behind her.

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN hadn't planned on staying. Seeing Andy again after a few years of no contact shook her, more than she would care to admit. Upon seeing Andy the young witch was filled with rage. She couldn't believe her eyes. Why was she here, what did she want? Was she working with her father? Who the hell knows, but after hearing her talk, seeing how genuine her words were, Evelyn felt a little more at ease, not much, but it was enough for her to stay put in her chair instead of scrambling the hell out of there. Evelyn owed it to herself to listen, to hear Andy's side of the story. She knew she should have never believed her father, but his evidence against Andy had been pretty damning. It had been all too easy for her to believe it, seeing the evidence made her believe. It made her hurt, grief the relationship she had once cherished. But once again, her father was able to manipulate him for his own selfish reasons.
Just one more reason why she needed to end him once and for all. If she ever got the chance, that is. But maybe with Andy's help that goal would be more obtainable. Sitting back in her chair Evelyn crossed her arms over her chest, waiting for Andy to begin talking. She could tell a part of Andy was relieved to hear that she wouldn't go anywhere, that she would hear her out. When she began speaking, however, she couldn't believe the words that came from her lips. Then again, it sounded exactly like something her father would do. "A harvest moon ritual?" She questioned, she said as more of a confirmation than anything else, to make sure she heard her right. "So he did want my magic after all. The sick bastard wants all the magic he can get..." She said, more to herself than to Andy. Evelyn should have saw this coming and she had figured his plans had to do with her magic in some way, it wasn't just about her joining him. It wasn't about Father and Daughter taking on the world.
He wanted her magic for himself.
William Monet was an excellent manipulator, that much the two of them could both agree on. Evelyn's expression was unreadable in the moments Andy spoke, explaining how she had loved her like a sister, how she had genuinely cared for her. A part of her didn't believe it, not after she had up and ran off, leaving her behind. But then there was the other part of her that believed Andy, the part of her that still cared for her friend dearly. Evelyn was so damn conflicted, not knowing where she stood on the believing her friend.
'Made me feel like you would be fine- like we'd both be fine at the end of it all. Better, powerful... not just him.' Evelyn couldn't help but let out a humorless laugh at that sentiment. "What a lie that turned out to be, all he cares about is himself." She said bitterly, picking up the coffee mug and taking a sip, the coffee having turned cold. She couldn't blame Andy though for what had happened, she knew how good her father was at fabricating stories that tailored to his needs. In this war against her father, Evelyn was better off with more allies than enemies, no matter how she felt. Taking down her father wouldn't be an easy task by any means, and as such she would need all the help she could get, including Andy's.
It was in that moment, after hearing Andy speak, that Evelyn decided to forgive her, to shove her feelings deep down and apologize for accusing her. Like her she too was a victim. At first it had been all about the money, especially considering how good she was sure her father had paid her. Money made people desperate. After a few more moments of soaking in what Andy had told her, Evelyn finally moved, taking Andy's hand in between hers. "I'm sorry I accused you. I know how good of a manipulator my father can be. I know he made all sorts of broken promises to you and me both with only himself in mind and I should have seen this coming. God I should have never believed him, but he had some pretty damning evidence. It looked so real..." She said, releasing her friend's hand with a sigh as she too leaned back in her chair, letting her head rest against the other booth behind her. "God I'm so stupid.." She said, shaking her head. How could she have ever believed him? He never did or said anything that wouldn't benefit him in some way and this time was no different. He wanted to isolate her, to get her alone to where she had no one in her corner. She would be easier to target that way.
But not now. And not ever again.

━ i shut my eyes and all the world drops dead. ━ SHE WAS SPEAKING, ANDY THOUGHT. A childlike glee clenching her fingers together as she realised she'd gotten Evie's attention. As much as she'd been determined to get through to Evie, a part of her had always assumed she'd have been given the cold shoulder. Especially after she had seen her again, had encountered that bitter chill Evie' mounted between them. Funnily enough, they both apparently got a kick out of talking about William. "Pretty much," She smirked coldly, leaning back in her seat as she thought of everything William had stolen from her. Of all the things he'd stolen from other people - Andy felt a mixture of fury, and strangely... jealousy. Andy had never felt much desire to strip power from others, but she did like the feeling of being powerful. Who didn't?, she thought secretly.
Evie's face screwed angrily as she picked up her coffee cup, her words biting but not directed at her, Andy replied with a cold scoff of agreement. Maybe Evie understood Andy in a different way this time around. They'd both been wronged by the same man, targeted and strung along for the benefit of one. Both wounded in different ways, Evie by her own father. She ached a little for the little girl Evie had been, how she must have discovered her father's intentions without Andy, how lonely that might have been. Her chin dipping as she frowned at the table, thinking again of how she wished she could turn back time. Not only to save Evie from that hurt, but to spite her vicious father. He should never have even gotten close after Andy left, but he had and now they were both victims of his greed.
Sitting back in her seat, Andy looked at the water marks on the old diners ceiling. Thought of every scenario in which it caved in on top of her as she breathed evenly. Half of her expecting Evie to leave now that she'd explained, now that she'd admitted her own guilt. Nobody left, rather there was a rustle of fabric as Evie shifted and then the soft, even sound of her aged voice. Andy lifted her head, a crease between her brows as she listened - frozen in place. Evie was apologising to her. The shock drifted across Andy's face before she forced it to flatten. Her mouth pressed tight together, lest her obvious surprise stopped Evie in her tracks as she realised it should be the reverse. Andy was fully prepared to humiliate herself and beg for Evie's forgiveness, she needed her help after all. Head drooping to watch as Evie's small, pale hand engulfed her own. A visual representation of solidarity - of the one thing Andy hadn't had in two years.
Pulling her hand away gently, Andy slid out of her side of the booth and crossed in to Evie's, slipping in beside her and wrapped both arms around her shoulders. So much taller than she had been before, it was awkward for a shorter Andy. Plus, Andy had never been one for physical affection, she was terrible at it. It was evident in the stiff circle of her arms, the way she held her breath as she rested her forehead on Evie's shoulder carefully. "Please don't say sorry, I don't want that- I can't stand it." She whispered, an ache in the back of her throat that she refused to acknowledge. "I left you with him." She felt her bottom lip tremble at the confession, biting down on it to restrain it. "I can't make that up to you, I don't know how." She explained, letting go of her bottom lip to chew on the skin inside her cheek instead, worrying away at the flesh anxiously. She pulled away, squaring her jaw and staring at the familiar plains of Evie's face as she steeled herself. "Lets kill him." She declared confidently, her voice quiet but laced with finality. "Together - that's take him down."

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN couldn't believe this, but then again, she kinda could. Her father had always been one obsessed with power, always wanting more. Never left satisfied with what he currently had, it was why he had gotten into dark magic. Well, that and the fact that her mother had cheated on him and then his mother died so it all came crashing down all at once. He was consumed with rage and as such, it led him to be immersed in dark magic, more specifically expression. After he began using that kind of magic he was no longer the man she used to know and adore. Daddy's little girl wasn't Daddy's little girl any longer. From the moment he began using dark magic she wanted nothing to do with him as all she knew was light magic and loved ever minute of it. Magic was everything to her, feeling the magic and connection to nature was breathtaking. It was calming and enlightening in so many ways. If she didn't have it she didn't know who she would be. And now she found out that her father wanted her magic all for his own selfish reasons.
And that terrified her to her absolute core.
A life without magic was not a life she wanted to live and now knowing what her father was up to made her even more cautious of what was to come. He had already been watching her through the eyes of his followers. They constantly lurked in the shadows, watching her every move and it was terrifying having to constant look over her shoulder in fear of what or who she may see behind her. Ever since she had stepped foot into this town her father had his followers tailing her, as if he knew where she had gone the moment she left New York. She hadn't truly escaped him and now with things beginning to ramp up, she was scared that it was only a mater of time before he arrived in town himself. And when that happened, no one was safe.
No one.
Hearing Andy's reasoning behind why she left, why she had been in her life in the first place had made everything come into focus. She knew why she had to leave as quickly as she had, her father was going to kill her. Self-preservation was at the top of Andy's priority list and Evelyn understood that. It hurt that she had left her behind, but at the end of the day she honestly couldn't say that she wouldn't have done the exact same thing had she been in her shoes. Her anger was displaced at the wrong person and as such, she needed to apologize for lashing out at Andy, for the person who was there for her when no one else was.
It seemed that Andy hadn't expected an apology from her given her facial expression. One that was fueled by pure surprise at her words, but she needed to apologize. Andy was the one person who she had in this cold world, the one person who she had grown to think of as a sister. Holding onto her friend's hand she squeezed it softly, reassuringly, a symbol of solidarity between them. A truce if you will. She needed Andy to know there were no hard feelings between them, that she understood. As Andy pulled her hand away from her own she half expected her to blow up in her face, but what she did next surprised her this time. Before she knew it, Andy had gotten up out of her seat and had slipped into her side, pulling her into a tight hug, resting her head on her shoulder. Evelyn was stunned but she quickly reciprocated the hug, squeezing her friend tightly as she wrapped her own arms around her friend. She needed this, more than she knew.
Evelyn felt safe in that moment, with her friend's arms wrapped around her. The first time she had felt safe in a long while. Evelyn listened to Andy speak, this time apologizing to her for leaving her with her psychotic father. That she didn't know how to make it up to her, what she could do to take back what she had done. She listened carefully to Andy, hearing her words that ached with guilt. But what Andy said next as she pulled away from the hug made Evelyn's green eyes widen in surprise. 'Let's kill him. Together - let's take him down.' Andy's voice was so confident, so full of certainty and anger. In that moment she didn't know what to say. Could she kill her own father? Yes, her subconscious said. At the end of the day she thought she could do just what Andy had suggested, that it was the solution to all of their problems, but there was only then the matter if she could actually go through with it. Sure he was a raging lunatic, but he was still her father. The blonde was conflicted in that moment, but she knew there was only one way out of this entire mess where she stayed alive and kept her magic. And that was killing her father.
And so she nodded in agreement as she looked at Andy, determination written across her own features. "Alright. Let's do it, it won't be easy though Andy.. He's... he's grown in power since you've last seen him. We'll need more than just the two of us for this." She said, warning her that taking down her father wouldn't be as easy as she thought it would be. Even with the two of their power combined, that still wouldn't be enough. With the amount of power and resources her father had at his disposal, they would need a lot more than just the two of them.
A hell lot more.
