"Okay, I know I kinda invited you out here on a whim, but Dr. Saltzman is busy today and I kinda... really need a sparring buddy." Hope turned to give Rafael a sheepish look as her lips stretched into a small smile, hopeful eyes focused on the other, hoping that he'd say yes to being her sparring buddy. Hope always spent most of her time training because she didn't want to count on just her powers as a witch. She wanted to be able to take care of herself in a physical fight. It was also a really good way to get off some steam because Hope was the type of person to bottle things up, it wasn't always easy for her to talk about her feelings, so she always bottled things up and when it got a little too suffocating, she'd always release it through her training.
Hope made her way to the middle of the training grounds as she moved her hand up to her hair, gathering it up in a ponytail in one smooth movement before she lowered her hands down. "You don't have to worry about holding back on me." Hope said with a quick nod of her head but she was certain that Rafael already knew she was perfectly capable of protecting herself. Hope shifted weight from one foot to the other, blue eyes relaxed on none other than Rafael as her lips stretched to form a soft smile. "So, what do you say? Do you wanna be my sparring buddy today?" Hope questioned as she looked up at him through her lashes, her smile still evident on her lips. "I'll treat you to something delicious after, if you want." Hope wasn't so sure what that was, but she was certain that they'd be able to figure something out.
"So, what do you say?" Hope questioned with a small tilt of her head following, still peering up at him through her lashes with a gentle smile covering her lips. Truth be told, she just wanted to be sure that she wasn't forcing him into anything he didn't want to do.

“I always knew you only wanted me for my body,” Raf said, a playful smile forming on his face as he looked over at Hope. He was certain that she would know he was only messing around, she was one of the few people that he felt like he could truly be himself with and that meant being able to joke around like that. It still surprised him at times that she had gone out of her way to help him since he’d arrived at the Salvatore School but the more time they spent together the more he was starting to realise that in some ways they were pretty similar. They were both good at hiding what was really going on from those around them but he couldn’t deny that it was good to have someone to talk to who understood what all of this was like. It was true that he was never going to know what it was like to be a tribrid or the daughter of Klaus Mikaelson but he did understand what it was like to be different because the truth was that he had felt that way his whole life. He also knew what it was like to take the life of another person, that was something that Raf wouldn’t wish on anyone but for both of them it had been an accident and it had resulted in them both triggering their werewolf curse. Hope had been there for him when he had triggered his and he had been trying to do the same for her ever since she’d triggered hers. They helped each other when they needed it and he knew that now wasn’t going to be any different. “I also won’t take it personally that I’m second best to Dr S,” he teased as they reached the training grounds. He had known where Hope was leading them before she’d even said that she wanted a sparring partner and the truth was that he was absolutely fine with it. Hope was powerful already but he knew that she didn’t want to rely on just her magic or her werewolf strength and speed, she wanted to be able to fight as well and that was something that he could definitely respect. Raf had ended up getting into a few fights over the years and he’d learned the basics pretty quickly but since he’d been at the school he had started taking those lessons much more seriously not only so that he would know different ways to fight but also so that he could learn more about control. He had already killed Cassie without meaning to and he knew that he didn’t want to be responsible for taking another life so it was a way of making sure that he knew how to keep himself in check and that was never going to be a bad thing. “Oh I know, with the amount of training you do I won’t be surprised if you beat me,” he added. Hope took the training seriously as well and he had seen her in action a few times so he knew that she was a formidable opponent already. As she spoke again, he felt his smile return. “When you put it like that, how can I refuse?” he asked as he pulled off his jacket and set it down at the side of the training area before stepping into the middle and getting into position. “I’m ready when you are.”HOPE MIKAELSON

I always knew you only wanted me for my body.
A chuckle left Hope's lips at Rafael's words before she shook her head. "Ah, whatever will I do, my secret is out." The younger said in a dramatic voice, deciding to play along with Rafael. It was nice, having a playful banter like this. It really did make her feel glad that she had Rafael as a friend. Sure, she could have sparred with any of the new hybrids, but she didn't feel that comfortable with them. But for Rafael, it felt like they'd known each other for such a long time and she felt comfortable with him. Plus, this could be a way for him to release any tension that he had in his body. It would benefit them both, right?
Hope snickered at Rafael's words before she looked over at him. "I think we're all second best when it comes to Dr Saltzman," The shorter girl teased with a small smile tugging at the corner of her lips as she turned her attention to the field. Hope knew that bad things usually happen when someone lets their guard down and she didn't want to ever be placed in that situation. She also knew that her dad sent her a couple of hybrids to always be there for her, just in case she ever gets into too much trouble. But once again, she didn't want to count on just that, you know? She wanted to have her own back and to also have other people's backs. She wanted to be helpful and strong and she knew that this way was the perfect way to do it.
"Hey, give yourself some credit too. You are pretty strong too, Raf." She didn't want him to think that he couldn't beat her because in her eyes, he was strong too and perfectly capable of handling himself. "That's why I chose you." Hope added a moment later with honesty clear in her voice, her blue eyes focused on her close friend.
There was a beaming smile that formed on her lips when Rafael accepted her offer to get something to eat with her after they were done. Hope took her fighting stance when Rafael told her that he was ready whenever she was. "I'm ready," and with that, Hope sparred with Rafael for the next hour or so. She could feel her muscles aching from exertion, but she kept going. She pushed herself and fought hard, grateful that Rafael wasn't going easy on her because if he had been, she would have had him on the floor the second they started but he was definitely a "worthy opponent" as they called it in those weird video games that revolve around fighting.
By the time they were done, Hope was exhausted and sweaty, but she was also ecstatic as she laid there on the floor, her chest rising and falling rapidly as she fought to keep her breathing under control. "You're really good at this," she praised as she pushed herself up to a sitting position, feeling all sorts of sweaty which made her feel a little uncomfortable, but it wasn't something she couldn't handle. "Okay, um, how do you feel about taking a shower first then meeting up when we're ready? I feel really gross right now, if I'm being honest."

“I think you’re safe. No one else is around and I won’t let it go to my head,” Raf said, a playful smile crossing his face as he looked over at Hope. Everything had been so crazy ever since he’d triggered his curse but in many ways Hope was like the calm among the storm. She had been a good friend to him ever since he’d transferred to the Salvatore School and he knew that the last year wouldn’t have been the same without her around. He knew that she like a few others at the school had been aged up by the spell of her uncle’s that had backfired but the truth was that it didn’t make a difference to Raf. He had been able to get to know Hope and the others that had been aged up as they were now and as far as he was concerned they weren’t any different to anyone else. Hope was still one of the people that he felt the most comfortable around alongside Landon and MG and Raf knew that he was lucky to have all three of them. His words were purely teasing and the way that Hope had gone dramatic with her response was enough to make him see that she knew that as well. They just seemed to get each other and that was something that he didn’t tend to find with people too often so he always knew to make the most of it when he did find someone like that. For the first time in his life he didn’t have to worry about being moved on to the next foster home because Dr Saltzman had made it clear to him that there was a room for him at the school for as long as he wanted it so right now his life was going pretty well all things considered and that wasn’t something that he was used to. As Hope said that they were all second best when it came to Dr Saltzman, Raf couldn’t help but laugh. “Alright yeah, you might have a point there,” he chuckled. Making friends hadn’t been too much of a problem for Raf at each of his old schools but it was never easy getting too close to people when he knew that he could be moved on to the next foster home at any minute. Now he didn’t have to worry about that which meant that he could just be himself and for that he truly was grateful. “That and you know I know you can handle yourself so I won’t take it easy on you,” he said, his smile returning as he focused on his friend. He knew that Hope’s dad seemed to think of her as someone who constantly needed to be protected but Hope was a formidable opponent in her own right and that was something that Raf had seen more times that he could count over his time at the school. It wasn’t long before Hope was ready as well and they sparred for an hour or so before they decided to call it a day and Raf laid on his back next to Hope as he let himself recover from the match. “So are you. There were a few times there where you took me by surprise,” he admitted, pretty sure that it had been a draw in the end. Hope had definitely kept him on his toes though and that was something that he had needed. She had helped him a lot over the last year but he still sometimes felt like he needed an outlet for his energy and sparring was definitely a good way of getting that out of his system. “I do too, let’s do it,” he nodded as he got to his feet and held a hand out to Hope to help her get to her feet as well. I think you’re safe. No one else is around and I won’t let it go to my head,
Hope let out a chuckle at Raf's words before she nodded her head in a grateful manner. "Thanks. I knew I could always count on you to keep my secret hidden." She teased with a small smirk tugging at the corner of her lips. It felt nice to have a little banter like this one. It was just such a relief and she enjoyed every moment of it. She's been thinking a lot these past few weeks and it felt nice to disconnect from her thoughts like this and simply focus on one thing.
Alright yeah, you might have a point there, That and you know I know you can handle yourself so I won’t take it easy on you,
Hope's lips stretched to form a smile at Rafael before she shrugged her shoulders in faux cockiness. "I always have a point." She teased, pretending to be pouring with confidence to the point of arrogance but her lips stretched into a grin shortly after to show that she didn't really mean that and that she was merely playing around. "Good. Knew I could count on you for that bit." She said with a soft smile resting on her lips and from there, they sparred for about an hour before they were finally done. She was panting, her chest rising and falling as she fought to catch her breath after a tiring exercise that made her muscles ache in the best way possible.
So are you. There were a few times there where you took me by surprise, I do too, let’s do it,
Hope felt a smile touch her lips at Rafael's compliment. "Thank you. You definitely kept me on my toes. It was really fun." She said and when he offered her a hand to get up, she easily took his hand into her own and pushed herself up. "Thanks." She released his hand slowly from her own. "Okay, let's go." She parted ways from Rafael so she could go take a shower and get changed into something that didn't smell faintly of sweat and exercise. Once she was ready, she sent Rafael a text to let him know that she was ready and to meet her in town so they could walk to the Grill together. Once she arrived in town, she waited for Rafael to find her as she allowed herself to enjoy just how busy Mystic Falls was. It was home.
Her home.

"My lips are sealed as always," Raf said, a teasing smile forming on his face as he looked over at Hope. After everything that had happened it was a relief to have someone that he could be like this around. With Hope he didn't need to worry about a thing, he could be himself and even the fact that he had killed someone and triggered his curse didn't matter to her. She accepted him for who he was and that was something that he hadn't really had before. The only person he'd ever truly had in his corner until now was Landon and even though his brother always did his best to be there for him Hope had triggered her curse as well and so had some of the other werecreatures at the school so it was a relief to know that he wasn't alone at least. He had been alone for most of his life while he moved around from one foster home to the next but he didn't have to worry about that now and he couldn't deny that it was good to be around others who were in the same boat. "Sure you do," he chuckled as Hope said that she always had a point. He knew that she was only messing around, the smile on her face was enough to give that away instantly, but it was still good to be able to mess around and have some fun anyway. "Definitely. There's no point in sparring if we're not going to both give it our all," Raf nodded. It was training for both of them and that was something that he knew better than to take for granted. They both took it pretty seriously but Raf knew that wasn't a bad thing and by the end of the session they had both earned a breather and something to eat to say the least. "It was. We should do this more often," Raf nodded. He often trained with others but they never made it as challenging as Hope did and he knew that he wouldn't turn down the chance to do that more often if she was up for it. Helping Hope to her feet, they soon went their separate ways so that Raf could shower and change at the school while Hope went home to do the same and it wasn't long after he'd pulled on some clean clothes that his phone chimed with a text from Hope to say that she was ready too. Responding to say that he was on his way, Raf headed out and soon reached the spot they were due to meet at. "So where do you feel like going - the Grill or the Diner?" he asked as they started to walk in the direction of the Town Square, knowing that his choice would be the Grill every time. HOPE MIKAELSON

Hope really enjoyed the sparring experience with Rafael and she promised him that they would do this often and shortly after the discussion was over, Hope parted ways with Rafael so that she could go back and take a much-needed shower to feel a little more refreshed. Once she was done, she started making her way to her wardrobe where she picked an outfit for herself to wear and shortly after she was done, she let her hair fall down her shoulders like waterfalls, the curls still as defined as before.
Hope's eyes relaxed upon Rafael as a soft smile appeared on her lips. "The Grill, definitely." Hope said with ease as she started walking with Rafael. "I don't have anything against the Diner, but it can be a little too crowded sometimes for my liking." Same could be said about the Grill, but she didn't seem to mind it too much when the Grill was filled up by people. She buried her hands inside the pockets of her jacket as she walked next to Rafael, her eyes scanning the crowd ahead of her. "So how are things between you and Landon? Are you guys doing okay?" Hope questioned, wanting to keep a light conversation going between the two of them while they were both heading over to the Grill to get something to eat. "And how's life treating you? Anything new lately?' She was definitely curious about how Rafael's life was going and whether he had anything new going on or not. She just wanted to make sure that he was doing okay.

Raf had grown used to having to find different outlets for his frustration and any excess energy he had over the years but the truth was that sparring was by far one of his favourites. He would be the first to admit that school didn’t always come naturally to him but when it came to something physical that was much more his kind of thing. The feeling of his muscles straining and his mind working as he tried to anticipate Hope’s moves and counter them was more fun than he’d had in a long time and he knew that he definitely wanted to do that more often. He didn’t want to hurt her but then again he knew that she could look after himself so he kept his promise and didn’t hold back and by the time they had finished he was more than ready to get something to eat. His appetite had always been a pretty healthy one anyway but after a workout like that he knew that he needed something to replenish the energy he had burned off. It wasn’t long before he was reunited with Hope and he felt a smile form on his face as she said that she wanted to go to the Grill. “I was hoping you would say that,” he admitted. “I’ve never liked the Diner as much, might be because the Grill has pool tables and it is good to have a game after something to eat,” he shrugged. That was sure to be a part of it at least but he had a feeling that Hope would probably be up for it as well if she didn’t have other plans. Walking alongside her, Raf nodded as Hope asked if he and Landon were doing ok. “Yeah we’re fine, things are still a bit strange but we’ll get there,” he shrugged. He hadn’t been home since Hector and Maria had tried to have him exorcised but he still made sure that Landon was doing alright. They weren’t related by blood but they were still brothers and Raf knew that he was always going to look out for the other boy. “I’m not sure if he is completely on board with the whole supernatural thing just yet though,” he added. They hadn’t really talked about it too much but Raf needed help learning how to control himself so he’d had to take up a place at the Salvatore School and that wasn’t something that he regretted. “Not really, I’m still just trying not to hurt anyone. I haven’t found my anchor yet,” he explained. When he did he knew that it would be much easier but that was easier said than done. “How about you, how are you doing?” he asked as they reached the Grill and he held the door open for her. I was hoping you would say that, I’ve never liked the Diner as much, might be because the Grill has pool tables and it is good to have a game after something to eat,
Hope felt a small smile touch her lips when she realized that they both wanted to go to the same place. "Yeah, I mean the vibe of the Diner isn't bad, but it's not the same as the Grill." She said with a quick nod of her head following. "And like you said, the Grill has pool tables even though I'm still terrible at pool." She added a moment later with a soft chuckle falling from her lips.
Yeah we’re fine, things are still a bit strange but we’ll get there, I’m not sure if he is completely on board with the whole supernatural thing just yet though,
Hope tilted her head curiously when Rafael told her that things are still a bit strange. She gave him a rather sympathetic smile and a quick nod of her head to let him know that she was still listening to him. She was glad that Raf was talking to her about this, at least he could get it off his chest this way and for that, she was relieved. "You will." She assured him with a sympathetic smile resting on her lips. "Give him some time to wrap his head around the whole thing. It can't be easy to suddenly learn there are witches, werewolves, vampires and God knows what other species are out there." Hope was lucky to be born in a family of supernaturals, so she never went through the shock of learning that something other than Humans exist in this world. "Maybe one day, he'll finally be okay with it." She added a moment later with a gentle smile on her lips.
Not really, I’m still just trying not to hurt anyone. I haven’t found my anchor yet, How about you, how are you doing?
Hope's eyes relaxed on Rafael as she listened to him, her head tilted slightly to the side before she moved her hand to rest it on his arm, giving it a gentle squeeze. "Maybe you could... become your own anchor?" Hope offered. "I know it's easier said than done, but it would help you along the way." She added a moment later, her voice remaining soft. "I'm okay, I think. It's weird to think about the fact that I'm also a werewolf now. It's not a side of me that's untriggered anymore." The circumstances of how that had happened were still far from good but she had no choice and she was starting to really believe that now. "Other than that, I'm doing pretty well." Hope whispered a soft 'thank you' when he held the door open for her and it wasn't long before she was entering the Grill. She was welcomed by a familiar sight that never failed to put a smile on her face. It wasn't hard to find a table for themselves and once that was done, her attention returned to Rafael again. "I know this question is like... Really far ahead but... what do you wanna do after graduation?" She asked in a curious tone, her eyes still focused on him.

“Well, if you play your cards right maybe I’ll give you a lesson,” Raf said, a smile forming on his face as he looked over at Hope. He hadn’t known what to think at first when Dr S found him and offered him a place at the Salvatore School but the truth was that Hope had made things that much easier. He had moved schools a lot over the years but this was his first time trying to find his place in a school that was full of supernaturals when he hadn’t even known that that world existed for a long time. Now it had been over a year since he had transferred to the school and he felt like he was where he was meant to be and he knew that a lot of that was down to the fact that he had good people in his life now. He had Lan and Hope and he had MG as well so he couldn’t deny that he actually felt pretty lucky to say the least. Raf wasn’t entirely sure how Lan was really doing with the whole supernatural world thing and finding out that his foster brother was a werewolf on top of that had to come as a shock but the truth was that no one was more shocked than Raf was by it. He hadn’t meant to kill Cassie, it was an accident but that hadn’t mattered. He had triggered his curse and now he was left to deal with the consequences which meant having to turn into a wolf with every full moon. It wasn’t how he had thought that his life would turn out but he was trying to make the best of it and he knew that he couldn’t really do much more than that. “Believe me, I know. Sometimes I still can’t believe it myself,” he admitted. There were so many different species at the school but something told him that it was probably just the tip of the iceberg. The most common were vampires, werewolves and witches but there were others too and it was a lot to take in to say the least. As Hope said that maybe one day Lan would be fine with it, Raf nodded. “I hope so. I’ve been on my own for so long, he’s the closest thing to family I’ve got.” They were only foster brothers but that had never mattered to Raf and he hoped that Lan would get his head around it all sooner or later. For now Raf knew that he didn’t want to worry about that too much though, instead he wanted to enjoy being able to spend some time with his friend. “I’ve been trying but it hasn’t been going too well so far,” he admitted. He was still trying to learn how to control himself during the full moon but he knew that he wasn’t going to give up. “You’d really do that?” he asked even though he wasn’t really sure why he was surprised considering that Hope had been a great help to him already. “I’d really appreciate it, thank you,” he added, knowing that he didn’t want to seem ungrateful. “I bet,” he nodded as Hope said that it was weird to think that her werewolf side wasn’t untriggered anymore. “How are you finding it?” he asked, hoping that she was doing better now than she had been when he’d found her that night after she triggered her curse. It didn’t take them long to find a table once they were inside the Grill and as Hope asked what he wanted to do after graduation, his expression turned thoughtful for a moment. “To be honest I’ve never really thought too much about it, I’ve always been focused on just making it through the foster system,” he said, knowing that if there was anyone that he could be honest with then it was Hope. “Dr S said that if I want to I can go to the Salvatore College and I think I might take him up on it. How about you?”HOPE MIKAELSON

There was a chuckle that left Hope’s lips when she processed Rafael’s words as she looked over at him with brows quirked up. ”Oh, really now? Are you sure you wanna teach me? I might get too good at it and beat you.” She teased with a playful smile tugging at the corner of her lips. It seemed rather easy for her to grow into this sort of banter with Rafael and it never failed to put a smile on her lips. When Rafael told her that sometimes he still can’t believe that the supernatural existed, she nodded her head in agreement with him. ”Yeah, it’s really difficult to wrap your head around that sort of stuff especially if you grew up believing that this sort of thing existed in fictional movies. Luckily for me, I grew up surrounded by a supernatural family so it wasn’t as much of a shock to me but I know other people aren’t that lucky, honestly.” Hope gave Raf a gentle smile of reassurance. ”If he doesn’t come around, then maybe sit him down and explain things slowly to him, that despite being a werewolf yourself, you’re still his best friend and the same should apply to others. What they are doesn’t define them, what matters is who they are and how they act as a person.” Hope’s shoulders lifted and dropped into a quick shrug, her smile still on her lips as her voice remained soft. ”We’re your family too, Raf. You won’t be alone as long as you have us in your life.” Hope offered him a gentle smile as she reached over to give his arm a gentle squeeze of reassurance.
”I know it’s not easy but don’t give up, okay? I know you’ll do it in the end. I’m sure of it.” Hope sounded confident and that’s because she was. She definitely believed in Rafael and his ability to push through all barriers and troubles. ”I would.” She nodded her head a few times, her voice soft. ”You don’t have to thank me, Raf. That’s what friends are for.” When he asked how she was finding the whole werewolf bit, she released a thoughtful hum. ”A little bit overwhelming, I guess? But I know that I’m a lot more powerful now and I’d be able to protect my family and friends a lot better, so.” Hope’s lips stretched to form a gentle smile. ”It definitely makes up for any hardships this change has brought me.” Keeping her family and friends safe has always been Hope’s priority. She cared too much about them and about their well-being. She nodded her head a few times in an understanding manner at Raf’s words. ”Yeah, I think I’m gonna do the same thing. I know I’m gifted at Art, like my dad, but that would probably mean I’d have to go to a … normal college, wouldn’t it? I feel safe with you guys and being surrounded by people who aren’t, well, mundane definitely makes me feel … a lot better.” She feels less like a freak when she’s surrounded by people who aren’t completely human. When the waitress came over to take their orders, Hope easily told her what she wanted to eat and waited for Rafael to do the same thing. From there, it was rather easy for them to find a topic to talk about until the food got here and once she was done, she paid for the meal and headed out of the Grill with Rafael. ”You don’t have to walk back, by the way. I could always call for an Uber or something.”

Raf hadn’t known what was going to happen when Dr S had shown up at the Church while his foster parents were trying to have him exorcised. He had felt sure that he was going to end up being locked away for the rest of his life or worse but that hadn’t happened. Instead he had finally found a place where he belonged and he couldn’t be happier about that. He still had Lan with him but now they were both far away from Hector and Maria and for that he was grateful. Last year Dr S had found a temporary foster placement for him during the school holidays and he hoped that the same might happen this year but only time would tell. Until then he knew that he just wanted to enjoy the way things were right now and Hope was a big part of that. She had become one of his best friends and he knew that he could count on her completely so he really was grateful for her. “Don’t worry, I’m sure my ego can take it,” Raf chuckled. He and Hope always had fun while they were together and he knew that it didn’t matter if Hope ended up being better than he was. The banter that always passed between them was something that he enjoyed and it never changed. “What was it like growing up knowing about all of this?” he asked, unable to deny that he was intrigued. His life had been completely different to Hope’s while he was growing up and he couldn’t even begin to imagine what it must have been like for the kids that had known about the supernatural their whole lives. “I will. I know he’ll come around, he loves all of this kind of stuff. Sometimes I think that he should have been the werewolf rather than me,” he chuckled, knowing that his brother probably would have ended up taking it all in his stride. Looking down at Hope’s hand as she squeezed his arm, Raf felt a smile form on his face as he lifted his gaze to meet Hope’s. “You have no idea how much I appreciate that,” he said sincerely. Any family he’d ever come close to having before he’d ended up losing but it was different with Hope, Lan and the friends that he’d made at the Salvatore School, it was like he’d found the family he’d always wanted. “I know I will with people like you in my corner,” Raf said, a smile touching his face as he looked over at Hope. He was used to having friends, no matter where he’d ended up in the past he’d had plenty of people around that he could trust but this was different. None of them had known the real him because he hadn’t known who he really was back then but he didn’t have that same problem now and he really was glad about that. “That’s a good way of looking at it,” he admitted. He knew that Hope hadn’t wanted to trigger her curse anymore than he had but it had happened anyway and she’d been left to deal with the fallout. He’d done his best to be there for her and help her through it and he really was proud of how well she was dealing with it all. “You’ve always been a force to be reckoned with but even more now,” he added with a smile. Before she’d had just her magic to rely on but now she had so much more and Raf pitied anyone who tried to hurt her or anyone that she cared about. As Hope said that if she wanted to do Art then she would have to go to a normal college, Raf shook his head. “From what Dr S told me the Salvatore College offers a lot normal college majors as well. I’m sure if you spoke to him and told him what you want to study then he’d make it happen for you,” he said, not wanting Hope to give up on her dream just because she was worried about being around so many others who weren’t like her. He hadn’t known that about the college before either but it had come as a relief when he’d learned that they offered supernatural classes and so much more. They kept on talking all through their meal and once that was done they headed outside. “No it’s ok, it’s a nice night so a walk will be good. Can I walk you home?” he asked, knowing that if Hope was going to walk as well then he didn’t want her doing so on her own. HOPE MIKAELSON

Hope released a soft hum at Rafael's question, taking a moment or two before answering just to gather her thoughts. "It was eye-opening, for sure. I was just so in awe about everything, especially when I watched uncle Henrik and aunt Freya practice magic for the first time. It was like I had found my calling, as cliche as that sounds. Growing up surrounded by supernatural beings immediately made me want to be strong like them. It made me want to work hard every day to impress them, if I'm being honest." It was exactly what she was doing now with her practicing magic and learning hand-to-hand combat. She wanted to make her family proud and also wanted to be strong like them. She didn't want them to feel like they had to protect her every waking moment. "Landon? Hmm... No offense to Landon, but no one can handle being a werewolf like you, Raf. You're doing really well." Hope said with a gentle smile resting on her lips. "It's the truth." Her voice was soft as she said that, eyes relaxing on Rafael once more.
Her lips stretched to form a soft smile at Rafael's words. She did believe that Rafael would be able to push through it. He had a lot of potential to be a strong werewolf, he just needs to see that for himself and actually believe it, too. "Thank you." Hope said in a soft voice when Rafael told her it was a good way of looking at it. She didn't immediately believe that back when she first changed, but it definitely changed with time as she grew accustomed to the change. She let out a chuckle at Rafael's next words when he called her a force to be reckoned with. "Oh, stop." She nudged him with her elbow, her grin becoming evident on her lips. "Thank you, though."
Hope released a soft hum at Rafael's words before nodding her head a few times. "Yeah, I'll definitely talk to him about it." She was quick to say, her voice was soft. At least then, she wouldn't have to leave Josie's side.
A gentle smile formed on Hope's lips at Rafael's offer before she quickly nodded her head. "I'd love that." She didn't want to leave just yet and this offers her the perfect way to spend more time with Rafael. She walked by his side, enjoying the warm weather. She talked easily with Rafael, enjoying how nice it was to be able to talk to him like this.
They didn't even have to talk about any specific, she talked to him about everything and anything, really. It was that easy to talk to him. "So I told her that I---" Hope paused when she felt a sense of uneasiness which made her look over her shoulder for a moment but nothing looked amiss, so she turned back to Rafael and continued her conversation until that feeling returned once more and this time, when she looked behind her, there was a large man wearing a hoodie that covered his face from being seen. The young witch barely had any time to prepare for an attack as the man pushed her away with all of his strength and began making his way to Rafael.

Raf knew that his childhood was so different to that of most of the kids at the Salvatore School, most of them grew up in loving families where they were accepted for who they really were and a lot of them knew about the supernatural world. It hadn’t been that way for Raf, he had bounced around from one foster home to another and he had never really felt like he fit in anywhere. The closest he had come was when Hector and Maria had taken Landon in as well and he had finally gained a brother but even then he had known that he hadn’t wanted to stay with his foster parents for too long if he could help it. He had done his best to shield Landon from what they were really like and in doing so Raf had ended up taking all of Hector’s abuse. He hadn’t said a word to Landon about it for a long time but the truth was that he would do it all over again if he had to because he wanted nothing more than to protect his brother. Raf hadn’t known what he was when he had triggered his curse but now he and Landon were at the Salvatore School surrounded by so many others like them and for the first time he knew that they had both found a place where they truly belonged. “That must have been amazing,” Raf admitted, unable to deny that he was envious of the way Hope had had so many family members around her who loved her and wanted to help her. “I’m sure you’ve impressed them, you’re the strongest person I know.” Hope was lucky in that she’d had her family around her but she also hadn’t had it easy because she was the only one of her kind and he knew that that would have been sure to scare some people. It didn’t scare him, though, because as far as he was concerned all that mattered was who Hope was rather than what she was and he didn’t care that her dad was Klaus Mikaelson either. She was his friend and he knew that her family had to be proud of the young woman she had become. “Your fighting skills alone make you a force to be reckoned with,” he added, glad that he had found one person who was able to keep up with him in that respect. “Thanks, that really means a lot,” he admitted. Raf would be the first to admit that he struggled with being a werewolf but he was doing his best and thankfully he had a lot of help. “Luckily I have a good teacher,” he added with a smile. Even before she’d triggered her curse Hope had been there with him every step of the way and he was glad that he’d had the chance to return the favour. Raf couldn’t stop a smile from forming on his face as Hope nudged him with her elbow and he rolled his eyes playfully at the gesture. “You should, I’m thinking of going to the university here so it would be good to have a friendly face around.” He wasn’t sure whether MG, Josie or any of the others would be doing the same but he knew that he would feel better having Hope there anyway. “Great,” Raf said, his smile widening as Hope agreed that he would walk her home. He always found it so easy being around Hope and they could talk to each other about anything. “What is it?” he asked as Hope’s voice trailed off. Turning his gaze in the direction that Hope was looking, Raf watched in amazement as a man wearing a hoodie pushed Hope out of the way and told her that he wasn’t there for her before rounding on him. “Who are you and what do you want?” he demanded, trying to make out the face of whoever the man was but he couldn’t seem to do so. “Sorry kid, you don’t need to know who I am. Just know I don’t want to be doing his but your name is on the list so I have no choice,” the man said which just confused Raf even more. The man moved with incredible speed, with a vampire’s speed, and in that moment he knew that this wasn’t a normal attack. “Get out of here Hope,” he said, not trusting that the vampire wouldn’t turn on her for a moment. Ignoring the pain as he half shifted, Raf dodged as the man lunged at him and aimed a blow at the vampire but he missed as the guy moved out of the way at the last moment. In moments the guy had knocked him to the ground and despite his best efforts he couldn’t free himself. He managed to get in a few good blows but so did the vampire and it wasn’t long before Raf was seeing spots at the edges of his vision. He could already feel the broken bones starting to mend as his healing kicked in and he tried to fight the guy off as the vampire reached for his heart but Raf could already feel his strength starting to leave him and he just hoped that Hope had managed to get away. That must have been amazing, I’m sure you’ve impressed them, you’re the strongest person I know. Your fighting skills alone make you a force to be reckoned with, Thanks, that really means a lot, Luckily I have a good teacher,
Hope nodded her head a few times in agreement with Rafael. "It definitely was amazing." She revealed, her voice remaining soft as she spoke. "But sometimes, it made me feel like I have a lot to catch up on to be like them." She pointed out with a quick shrug of her shoulders following, her hands shoved inside the pockets of her jeans. "I'm trying to." Hope said with a gentle smile on her lips, always trying her hardest to impress them, always trying to prove that she was strong and more than capable of protecting herself because she really didn't like worrying them. "You think so?" The strongest person he knew, huh? Hope's lips stretched to form a soft smile, her eyes relaxing on Rafael. "Sometimes I don't feel strong at all if I'm being honest." Hope added a moment later as she scratched the back of her neck sheepishly. There were moments when she felt like she was going to mess up or disappoint her family despite knowing that she could never disappoint them and that they loved her very dearly. "Thank you, Raf. I wouldn't have been able to make this much progress without Dr. Saltzman." Hope added a moment later, a small smile still on her lips. If it weren't for him, she wouldn't have evolved. She really was thankful for all of his help. "Of course, Raf. I mean it." Hope said with a soft smile resting on her lips. "That, you do." She said with a pleased smile on her lips, pretending to be serious about stroking her own ego with that statement. "You can come to me whenever you need help, you know that, right?" Hope would be more than happy to help him with whatever issue he was facing. No matter what.
You should, I’m thinking of going to the university here so it would be good to have a friendly face around. Who are you and what do you want? Sorry kid, you don’t need to know who I am. Just know I don’t want to be doing his but your name is on the list so I have no choice, Get out of here Hope,
"Oh, really? Well, in this case, I'm definitely going to consider it." Hope said with a grin resting on her lips. "I can also ask Josie." She added a moment later before she covered her interest with a clear of her throat. "And, uh, MG, too. The rest of the gang, y'know." Whipped. She was whipped.
Hope didn't expect the night to take such an abrupt turn for the worst and that was probably her first mistake. She should always be ready... Hope's vision was hazy as she pressed the palms of her hands on the ground to push herself up, her head hurting from the collision against the wall. She shook her head and thankfully with her werewolf side's rapid healing, the haziness and the pain didn't affect her for long. "No." That was her response when Rafael told her to get out of here. Hope used her magic to throw the man off Rafael before she held his throat in a choking hold with her powers.
"Of course, you have a choice." Hope hissed through gritted teeth as she tightened the telepathic hold she had on the man's throat before she started making his way over to him, yanking the hoodie off his face. "Now you see me, and so do I." Hope released him from her hold and the man fell down on the ground, gasping for air but Hope didn't let him get away as she pressed her foot against his chest, the heel of her boots pressed into his chest. With her magic, she snapped his neck and moved her foot away from his chest as she stepped away from his unconscious body before she rushed to Rafael's side. "Hey, hey. I'm here, Raf. I'm right here." Hope got down on her knees next to him, pressing her hand against his wound. "Stay with me, Raf. Please. Stay with me." Hope lifted her wrist up to her lips and bit down on the flesh before she moved her bleeding wrist to his lips. "Drink this. It will help you heal faster. I've got you, Raf."
