Jenna had been feeling overly moody the past couple of weeks. Not to mention the abrupt sickness in the morning and that always stained her mood for the rest of the day. She didn't understand what the matter was, she thought at first she was coming down with a cold or something at least close, but when she realized she was not experiencing any of the cold's symptoms as well as the flu's, she realized something was the matter.
Jenna contemplated on whether she should tell Elena or not but she didn't want to worry her and wanted the younger to continue living her life without any worries. She's the adult here, she'll deal with her issues, no problem with that. Though doesn't mean she'll deal with it alone. Jenna had a date tonight at Ric's apartment. She was not a big fan of going to restaurants or anything fancy like that, she just wanted to spend some alone time with Ric. That's all that matters to her.
Jenna ran her fingers through her hair a few times to fix it before she let her curls rest over her shoulders. She added some lip gloss and hint of a blush on her cheeks before she made her way out of her bedroom, her heels held in her hand as she made her way downstairs. She had told both Jeremy and Elena beforehand, so she slipped out as soon as she slipped inside of her high heels. She made her way over to Ric's apartment and knocked gently on the door a few times before stepping back.

There had been times over the last few months when Ric had felt like he was only just keeping his head above water. It had been a few months since he’d found out that he was a father to two children and even though Jenna had yet to actually meet Kyle she had been incredibly supportive throughout the whole ordeal. He had grown used to looking after kids while they were at school but as soon as the final bell rang they were back to being the responsibility of their parents. He had always wanted children of his own but that chance had been taken from him each time he thought that he was getting close to having the kind of life that he had always wanted. Both of them could be stubborn at times but he had been doing his best to show them that he really wasn’t going anywhere so slowly but surely they were starting to let him in a little more and he knew that he just had to hope that that was going to continue. He would be lying if he said that he didn’t hate the fact that Kyle was currently living at the Mikaelson mansion with Klaus and the others but so far he had yet to find a way to convince him to get away from there so he knew that he just had to be patient. Now things finally seemed to be settling down a little, he had been helping Jenna with her newfound magic and the two of them had been getting even closer. It wasn’t always easy to find time alone together since Jenna had Elena and Jeremy living with her and he had Abby living with him but they did the best they could and he knew that that was all they could do. That day they could have gone out somewhere but they both preferred staying in and spending some time alone so that was exactly what they were going to do. Abby was out so they had the place to themselves and he knew that they could get some food delivered or he could cook when he knew what Jenna felt like having. It wasn’t long before he heard a knock at the door and he felt a smile work its way across his face as he opened it. “Hey,” he said, his hand falling to her waist as he greeted her with a kiss. “Come on in,” he said as he stepped aside to let her in before closing the door behind her. “Elena and Jeremy didn’t give you too much of a hard time about you coming over here, did they?” he asked, his expression turning to one of amusement as he looked over at her. Elena was a friend and Jeremy was too but there were times when he had a feeling that it was probably still a little weird for the two of them that he and Jenna were together but they were happy and he knew that that was all that mattered. Jenna didn't have to wait outside for long because the door was soon opening to reveal none other than her boyfriend, Alaric. A smile instantly formed on her glossy lips. "Hey." She greeted, her voice soft. Jenna leaned in, her lips meeting him halfway in a greeting kiss before she stepped back when he invited her in. "Why thank you." She entered the apartment, her eyes curiously scanning her surroundings before they settled upon Alaric once more.
"Oh, I think I've heard enough teasing from Elena to last me a century. As for Jeremy, well... He's a whole different story." Jenna shook her head and sighed deeply when she remembered the call she had received from the principal about Jeremy. She never thought the day would come where she would get a call from Mr. Hawthorne. She believed both Elena and Jeremy had the mindset of an adult, but it was proven to her that only one of them had said mindset and the other still acted like a toddler. "Got a call from the principal. Can you imagine?" She let out an exasperated sigh. "Jeremy got expelled for three days. I don't know what's wrong with that kid." Jenna approached the couch where she sat down after straightening her dress underneath. "Anyway, how're you? How's Kyle and Abby doing?"

Now and then there were times that Ric felt like he needed to pinch himself. After everything that he had been through and the amount of times that his heart had been trampled over he was amazed by just how well things were going with Jenna. It was always going to be a little complicated as they had more than just the two of them to think about, they had the four kids to factor into everything as well, but they made each other happy and he knew that that wasn’t something to be taken lightly given the world they lived in. They still didn’t know what had really happened to Jenna that had suddenly resulted in her being able to siphon magic from others but as with everything else that life had thrown at them they were dealing with it together and he knew that that was as it should be. No matter what kind of day he was having seeing Jenna was enough to make him feel better straight away and his smile widened as she kissed him back. “She is good at that,” he chuckled as Jenna said that she’d had enough of Elena’s teasing to last her a century. As she went on to talk about Jeremy, however, his expression turned more serious. “What happened?” he asked before sighing as Jenna said that Jeremy had been suspended. “I know things have been tough for him but I didn’t realise it was that bad,” he admitted. He had been doing his best to help Jeremy but it wasn’t often easy knowing exactly where the boy’s head was and that sometimes caused a problem. “Do you want me to talk to him?” he asked, knowing that it might be a little easier for Jeremy to open up to him about what was really going on than it would with Jenna or Elena. Sitting down next to her, his smile returned. “I think they’re doing alright. They both seem more settled at least,” he shrugged before taking her hand in his. “How about you, how are you doing?”JENNA SALTZMAN

Jenna let out a chuckle as she nodded her head in agreement. "Yeah, you're not wrong about that." She joked with a small smile resting upon her lips. She enjoyed Elena's company even when she was teasing her about her relationship with Ric. "Yeah... He's not talking to me about it either, so I'm just lost. I don't know what to do. I swear I'm seeing my younger self in him and I don't know what to do about it." Jenna wasn't the best at consoling people or getting them to open up to her but whenever they do, she tries her best to make sure they won't regret it.
"Please. Maybe it'll be easier for him to talk to you." Jenna said with a small nod of her head following. "That's great." She was happy for them even though she'd never met Kyle before. She often felt worried that she might screw up the meeting somehow or make the younger think in any way that she was taking his mom's place even though that was truly not her intention when she first got close to Ric. "I'm... okay." She hesitated a moment before shrugging her shoulders. "I think I'm getting down with a cold or something. It's been kicking my ass for a while." Jenna tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and shrugged her shoulders slowly. "You sure you don't wanna go out or anything? I know I'm the one who said we should have our date here but if you wanna go out or something, I really wouldn't be against it."

“She seems to approve anyway,” Ric chuckled. He could still remember just how awkward things had been when Elena and Jeremy had found out about them, those definitely weren’t highlights in their relationship so far as far as Ric was concerned but things were going well for them now and he really was glad about that. Jenna, Elena and Jeremy had all welcomed him into their family and it was that act of kindness that had made Mystic Falls start to feel like home. “You turned out fine in the end but I know it can’t be easy seeing Jeremy doing the same things you did,” he nodded. They all made mistakes when they were young but Jeremy’s seemed to be escalating and Ric knew that something needed to be done now before he landed himself in some real trouble. “I’ll do what I can,” he assured her as Jenna asked him to talk to Jeremy. He knew that it wasn’t always easy talking to someone that you were scared of disappointing so he hoped that perhaps Jeremy might open up to him a little more. The two of them got on well and Ric knew that Jeremy probably didn’t want to disappoint him either but it was different to not wanting to disappoint his aunt or sister. “It is,” he nodded, knowing that he was going to have to introduce Jenna to Kyle when things had settled down a little more. He wasn’t sure how Kyle would react to Jenna but they were both important to him so he hoped that they would get on. “What’s been going on?” he asked, immediately concerned as Jenna said that she hadn’t been feeling well. Supernatural problems he could deal with but something like that really scared him. “I’m happy to stay here if that’s still what you want,” he assured her, knowing that if she wasn’t feeling well then it might be a bit easier. “We can order in or I can cook if you like,” he offered. “Honestly as long as I get to spend time with you then I don’t care where we do that.”JENNA SALTZMAN

"Yeah, she does." Jenna said with a small smile resting on her lips. "Oh, thank you." She didn't expect Alaric to say that but it put a smile on her lips nonetheless, especially because it meant a lot to her. She'd often found herself doubting her own capabilities and it left her a little exhausted mentally more than anything but hearing Alaric's words definitely helped her feel a lot more confident.
"Thank you." She felt thankful for his presence in her life. Without him, she would have been completely at a loss. At least she had someone she can open up to about her problems with Jeremy. "Oh it's nothing, really. Just some sickness in the morning before work. But it's not something that I can't handle." Jenna reassured with a soft smile resting upon her lips. "You know I love it when you cook for me." Jenna added with a half smile resting on her lips. "Good, because it's the same for me. We can be in the most boring place on Earth, which is.. school, basically. But I don't know why we'd have a date there, but yeah, we could be there and I'd be totally happy as long as you're with me."

Ric really was glad that Elena and Jeremy seemed to approve of their relationship. It could have easily been quite awkward considering that he was their teacher but he was also their friend and thankfully they had seemed quite open minded about the whole thing. There were certain things that he wished they hadn’t seen while he had been spending the night at their place with Jenna but neither of them seemed too mentally scarred by it which was definitely a good thing. He knew that Jenna had her doubts but she had done an incredible thing by stepping in and looking after the two of them and he knew just how lucky the kids were to have her even if she perhaps didn’t always believe that herself. “It’s no problem,” Ric assured her as she thanked him for agreeing to speak to Jeremy. He hated knowing that the kid was still struggling so he knew that he would do everything he could in order to help him get back on the right track. He had started to worry when Jenna had said that she’d been feeling sick and if he was honest her next words didn’t really do anything to reassure him either. “How long has it been going on for?” he asked, knowing that if it had been going on for a while then it was probably about time that Jenna got herself checked out. They always faced so many dangers being a part of the supernatural world that it was sometimes easy to forget that there were dangers outside of that too and he couldn’t stand the thought of losing Jenna. As she spoke again he felt a smile work its way across his face and he couldn’t help but laugh as she mentioned a date at school. “The only way we would ever have a date there is if you decided to join me for lunch one day,” he chuckled, knowing that they could do much better than that. “It looks like I’m cooking then. What are you in the mood for?”JENNA SALTZMAN

Jenna pursed her lips, falling silent for a moment as she tried to pinpoint when it had started. "A couple of weeks ago. It was subtle at first, then it just.. turned into sickness first thing in the morning and aches here and there. It's one stubborn cold, lemme tell you that."
Jenna scrunched her nose at that and shook her head. "Oh I cannot see myself going to school again, nope." She joked with a small chuckle following, her hand lifting to brush her hair off her shoulder. Jenna took a moment to contemplate, wondering what she was in a mood for. "I would love some rose pasta, actually." Jenna said with a small nod of her head following. "I brought my appetite with me, so prepare to overfeed me." She teased with a half smile resting on her lips.

When it came to ordinary things like sickness Ric often didn’t know what to do. If it was a supernatural threat he was facing it was much easier, he knew more about what those threats were and whatever he didn’t know he could often figure out pretty quickly, but he knew that they would figure it out no matter what was going on with Jenna. So much had happened over the last few years so he would be lying if he said that he wasn’t scared of losing her the same way that he had lost everyone else he’d loved, but Jenna wasn’t like his exes and he knew that he just had to believe that this time things could be different. “That sounds like it might be more than a cold,” Ric admitted, unable to stop the worry from building inside of him. “Have you seen a doctor?” he asked even though he was pretty sure that Jenna would have told him if she had. It was easy to sweep something like that under the carpet or dismiss it as being nothing but he knew that he couldn’t let her do that this time. “Don’t worry, I promise I won’t drag you back there for a date,” he chuckled. He knew that it really wasn’t for everyone and if he was honest there were times when he couldn’t wait to get out of there either so he knew that he wasn’t going to make Jenna go back there anymore than she needed to. As she spoke again he felt a smile work its way across his face. “I can definitely do that,” he nodded, stealing a kiss before getting to his feet and getting started on the food. “Can I get you anything to drink?”JENNA SALTZMAN

Jenna felt a soft smile appear on her lips before she shook her head. "I'm okay, I promise. There's really no need to visit a doctor. If I feel any worse, I promise I'll book an appointment and maybe, if you want, you can come up with me." She hated the doctors more than anything in the world and it showed in how she wanted to do everything in her might to avoid going there. "Thank you, Ric. You are a man after my own heart." Jenna teased playfully with a soft chuckle following.
Jenna returned the kiss with ease, smiling to herself. "Ah, just water please. I don't really feel any need to drink alcohol tonight." She wrinkled her nose at the thought, it didn't sound very good. Jenna stood up from her seat eventually to follow Ric into the kitchen so that she could watch him work on prepping a delicious meal for her, she trusted his cooking without a hitch. He cooked way better than her and that alone put a soft smile on her lips, knowing that tonight she will possibly find herself falling asleep with a full stomach. "So." She began, running her tongue over her lips. "Anything new lately? Tell me whatcha been up to."

“As if I’d let you go alone,” Ric said, a smile working its way across his face as he kissed Jenna gently. “If something is going on with you then I’d much rather know so we can face it head on,” he added. The thought of something going on with Jenna scared him but at the end of the day if they knew what it was then they could deal with it together. Jenna always had so much on her place between work and the kids and now with being taken and turned into a witch as well and he always felt a little bad about bringing her into his own mess with his kids but they were partners and whatever happened they faced it together so he knew that it would be wrong to try and keep that from her. “Any time,” Ric chuckled, knowing that there were definitely better places they could go for a date. “Water it is,” he nodded before grabbing two glasses and pouring one for each of them. He knew that there was nothing to stop him from drinking but right now if Jenna didn’t feel up to it then he knew that he wasn’t going to rub it in her face. “Here you go,” he said as he set the glass down in front of her before taking a sip from his own. He would be lying if he said that he wasn’t still worried about Jenna but he could at least look after her right now and that meant making sure that she ate properly so he didn’t hesitate in getting started on the meal. “Nothing out of the ordinary really, I’ve just been trying to get to know Abby and Kyle better,” he explained as he worked. “It’s still crazy to think I have two teenage kids.” He still hated the fact that he hadn’t known about them and had only found out about them after their mother died but he was doing his best to be there for them now. “I’ve told them about you but things are getting better between us so I’d love for you to meet them soon.” He hadn’t deliberately kept them apart but it had been difficult enough having the two of them get to know him let alone someone as important to him as Jenna was but he finally felt like he was getting somewhere with the two of them so he wanted them all to get along. Jenna chuckled and nodded her head. "It certainly wouldn't be you if you allowed that." She teased with a small smirk resting on her lips. Hospitals were Jenna's nightmare, to put it lightly. She didn't like being there. It made her feel so confined and almost like she couldn't breathe, but she doubted she was the only one who felt that way.
Jenna blinked out of her thoughts when Ric filled her a glass of water and placed it in front of her. 'Thanks." She responded with a hint of a soft smile on her lips. She reached forward to clasp the glass, tipping it back to take a few sips before she let the glass rest back down on. "Much better." Jenna hummed, feeling rather pleased.
She had no problem listening to what Alaric had to say. She had been hoping that Ric wouldn't face any troubles connecting with his kids, especially with them being at a difficult age where they tend to rebel or stop listening to their parental figures. "I don't blame you for thinking it's crazy. I think I'd lose my mind if suddenly two teenage kids popped up and turns out, they're my kids." She sympathized with him. She truly did. Her eyes widened momentarily at Alaric's last comment, her heart speeding up against her will. She had been so worried about what his kids might think of her. What if they think she was here to replace their mom or take their dad away from them? She really didn't want them to think that way, but she knew that she can't exactly escape this meeting forever. "I'd love to meet them one day." And she meant that, whole-heartedly. "Who knows, maybe we'll meet sooner than later." It was better to brave through the meeting rather than avoiding it for life.

After losing Isobel, Ric had resigned himself to the fact that he was going to end up on his own. None of his past relationships had ended well and he hadn’t thought that he’d wanted to open himself up to getting hurt like that again but Jenna had surprised him. There had been attraction there on his part right from the start but he hadn’t expected it to turn into something more. He had quickly come to see just how incredible she was, though, and now he honestly felt like no matter what life threw at them next they would face it together. Jenna had more control over her magic now and even though they still didn’t know who had turned her into a witch things were at least a lot better than they had been when she’d shown up on his doorstep scared and confused. Again they didn’t know what was going on with her but this time he was certain that there had to be a normal explanation and they would deal with it together the same way they always did. “That’s right so you don’t need to worry,” Ric assured her. The truth was that he was scared about what was going on with her but he knew better than to let that show. When it came to supernatural problems he was better equipped to deal with those but when it came to whatever was going on with Jenna he knew that he was just going to have to settle for being as supportive as he could be. That was what she needed right now, she didn’t need him letting his fear take over and he knew that he had to be strong for her so that was just what he was going to do. “I’m glad,” he admitted as Jenna said that she was feeling better. “Can I get you anything else?” he asked even as he moved around the kitchen collecting everything that he needed. “I’m never going to get back the years that I lost with them but they’re at least letting me be a part of their lives now,” he said gently. That was more than he had thought that he would get with them the day that he had gone to meet Abby, she had been so sure that she would be happier just about anywhere else but she had decided to give him a chance and for that he was grateful. “Luckily for you, you would at least know if you had any kids out there,” he added, his smile turning playful as he looked over at her. He hadn’t had that luxury but that was all in the past. They were a part of his life now and he knew that he wouldn’t have it any other way. “You will. Once we know what is going on with you we’ll sort something out. I want them to meet Elena and Jeremy as well.” All three meant a lot to him so he knew that he wanted Kyle and Abby to get to know all of them, especially since as far as he was concerned he was in it for the long haul. Jenna had always worried about what Alaric's kids would think of her. Would they accuse her of taking their mom's place or at least attempting to? Or would they accept her when they see that she's truly in love with Alaric? There was only one way to find that out but even then, she still didn't feel emotionally prepared to meet them and she knew better than rushing it.
When Alaric asked whether she wanted anything else, she shook her head with a small smile on her lips. "No, I'm good, thanks." She reassured with a nod of her head following as she rose her hand to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. "Yeah, exactly." Jenna said with a small smile on her lips. 'What matters is the now." Jenna added a moment later, her gaze never leaving Alaric. She laughed at his comment and lightly nudged him with her elbow when he told her that at least she'd know if she had any kids out there.
"Yeah. I'd like them to meet Elena and Jeremy as well." She added with a soft smile on her lips. "I'm gonna feel so stupid if it's just a stomach bug." Jenna chuckled as she moved her hand to the lasagna to start cutting it with the knife before she carefully placed a serving on Alaric's plate then another on her own. "Smells so good." Her stomach was growling at this point and she was more than happy to reach over with her fork to start eating.
