Life was never easy, it was always full of ups and downs but right now there seemed to be more downs than ups for the people Tatia cared about. Elijah had been infected by the virus that was being spread around town and he was doing better but he still wasn’t completely back to normal and that worried her but he was strong and Tatia knew that she just had to believe that he would be fine. She hadn’t left his side for the last few days and the only reason why she had left now was because Henrik was with Elijah and she needed to check on a friend. She and Riley hadn’t known each other that much before Klaus used them both in the ritual to free his werewolf side but going through that had bound them together in a way that no one else could understand. She wasn’t sure what had happened to the vampire that Klaus had used in the ritual but right now Riley was hurting and Tatia couldn’t blame him one bit. He had lost the love of his life and even though they hadn’t found Danny’s body, it was clear what had happened. Tatia didn’t doubt that he would have made his way back to Riley if he could have done and the fact that he hadn’t could only mean that the curse had caught up with him at last. Life still kept creeping on, Riley was in grad school now and Tatia was still trying to figure out what she wanted to do with her own life. She’d had years at school to get used to the way things were now and she had adjusted well but she didn’t have the advantage of having grown up always knowing what she wanted to do like some of her friends did so it was taking her a little longer to figure that out. She knew that in time she would but right now she was more concerned about making sure that the people she cared about were doing okay. Tatia had become a mother at such a young age, still a child herself really, but the instincts she’d developed back then had stayed with her. She knew that she couldn’t fix things for Riley but Henrik was working on trying to locate Danny on the Other Side or wherever he had ended up while others were searching for his body so she knew they just had to stay positive. The longer that went by the more difficult that was to maintain but she knew that she wasn’t going to give up hope for Riley’s sake. Danny was a good guy and he was a friend to her as well but she not as much as Riley and she hated how much he was hurting. She might not be able to do much with assisting in the search but she knew that she could make sure that Riley was taking care of himself and that’s exactly what she intended on doing. “Thanks Hayden,” Tatia said, offering the girl a smile as she brought out the food she had ordered from the Grill along with the beers. “There’s some chocolate and ice cream in there too, on me,” Hayden said and Tatia’s expression softened. “I’m sure Riley will appreciate it, thanks,” she said sincerely as she took the bag in one hand and the beers in the other once she’d paid for everything else. “I’ll let you know how he’s doing,” she added quickly, knowing that that was what Hayden was about to ask. Making her way out of the Grill, Tatia headed in the direction of Riley’s and once she reached it, she knocked on the door. “I come bearing food, I figured you probably hadn’t eaten yet,” Tatia said, offering him a sympathetic smile as she held the bag up when the door opened. “Hayden sent a few treats over too.”RILEY PARKER

It had felt like a betrayal of sorts to head back to his parent’s house after classes on Monday. The apartment he’d been sharing with Danny at Whitmore was still filled with their things, every breath he took there filled with reminders of the life they’d been building together there. Some days all he wanted to do was stay there, holding on to his memories of the two of them. Other days Riley could feel them slowly crushing him, the walls squeezing down tight to block out any hope that they would find Danny, that they could bring him back. Monday had been one of those days. After a weekend spent searching the campus again, phoning around everybody who was helping in the evenings in the vain hope that someone would have come up with something. In the saner part of his brain he knew that every single one of them would reach out the second they did, but it felt like he constantly had to be doing something or the optimism that he was holding onto with an iron grip would slip away.
Three whole days had been split between looking here in town and working on the assignment that might’ve been the only thing still keeping him sane. When he could push everything aside and just focus on his laptop it was as though everything else faded away for a while. Later he might feel guilty, but when that started Riley tried to hold on to the idea that Danny would’ve hated him putting his entire life on hold to try and track him down. They were going to have their life together back where it had been, just as soon as they found the one thing that would reveal to them where that son of a bitch had taken him. In a couple of months school would be over for the year and he’d lose the distraction of school. Riley knew he would have to prepare himself for that, each change now feeling so much bigger than it would’ve done if Danny had been right there by his side through them all.
At least being at his parents’ place meant that he had easier access to a washer and dryer. Like any other college student he’d hauled a couple of bags of laundry back with him and was working through them. Another tiny distraction until he decided on another area of the map of the town to go and explore. At some point they had to find either a sign of Danny, or of the darach who’d taken him. He was taking stuff out of the dryer, folding it neatly before he put it into the basket, when the doorbell rang. Hope burst like a firework in his stomach as he headed out to open the door. Riley’s smile dimmed a little as he saw Tatia there with food, not news. It crept back as he gestured her into the house. ”I hadn’t even thought about it,” he admitted as he followed her towards the kitchen. ”I’ve been trying to set reminders, but then I get into something and … you know.”[//b] Shrugging faintly, he grabbed a couple of plates from a cupboard. ”I’ll have to send her a thanks. How are things with you? How’s Elijah?” The frown started to cut back in as he sat down at the kitchen table. Danny’s disappearance wasn’t the only problem the pack had been facing. There were other threats in town, one of them being the virus Elijah and others had been struck down with.
