BEGINNING OF THE END THE KOVAcs SIBLINGS
He was spoiling for a fight before he even received the information. He had been spoiling for weeks in fact --- the aftermath of his efforts to collect power was a stinging blow to his ego. He had fixed the structure of his home, ensured that it stood just as pristine as it was before those two brothers ever violated it. But it did nothing to soothe his wounded pride and his need to spill blood.
This might.
Klaus thanked the messenger (instead of killing him like the frightened young man clearly thought might happen given how he cowered). He actually was grateful too --- because he had just been presented with a situation that might allow him to release weeks of pent up anger. Normally he would leave such things to work themselves out, or send someone beneath him to deal with it. Instead he was taking a hands on approach to the idea of unruly wolves.
There was a pecking order in this town. Most didn't even realize it until they stepped out of line and needed a reminder of where they belonged. That sounded like the case here. With glee in his heart and murder on his mind, Klaus moved toward the source. A so called alpha, or at least that was what the wolf was claiming to the hybrids who had come across him.
We will see about that.
He could already feel both the wolf and vampire instead of him coming to life, relishing in what was about to happen. A change of pace from the last few weeks while they had laid dormant, practically sulking after what the Reid brothers had done to him (they would pay, they just didn't realize it yet).
He found the wolf, an unassuming looking fellow. His lips immediately curved upward as he stepped into its path. "I hear you are telling everyone you are the alpha of these parts," he began. "I decided it was time to correct such notions."

The old man sworn that the borders of the property were marked out – a fence for the most part, some marks on the trees in places he hadn’t been able to bridge with the posts and rails. Kicking through the leaves as he tried to match the lines that had been drawn out on the map with what was on the ground. He was used to old things, to broken things, but the house and its land was worse than anything back at home had ever been. Still, it was theirs.
Clearing a patch at his feet, he managed to locate the rotting stump of another of the posts. If there had been rails to go with it then there was no sign of them now. If they wanted to put a fence back around the land then that was gonna be an even bigger job than anything in the house. It would take a couple of trips to the lumber yard if they wouldn’t deliver, some work from Aliz and Alex too – he knew better than to ask Harmony to come out here and dig holes in the ground, to risk splinters. The corner of his mouth ticked up, the house had become Harmony’s territory, her orders there bringing life to the place, even if most of her decisions wrung a frown and a short lived argument from him.
Drapes!
Vitktor snorted and pressed on to the next, wandering down a slope and deeper into the woods to try and find the next point on the map. There had been some there already. Dusty, yes, maybe the pattern had been ugly, but they had worked hadn’t they? Covering the windows, keeping the sun out, the warmth in when the cold would come. What more did you need? Another post. Another point marked in the pencil he’d tucked behind his ear. Another half mile or so and he’d reach the furthest point of the man’s land. Viktor was almost there when his phone had rung. At least there was service this far out. He’d expected it to be Harmony but it had been his sister instead, asking where he was. Turning in a circle, Viktor had tried to pinpoint the house beyond the thick ranks of the trees. ”A mile west of house. Down near creek. I move bit further but you find me easy enough.” With her sense of smell she probably would’ve been able to track him by scent alone from the house, but phone was easier. If the hunters returned, they were going to need more than phone calls. They had to learn the land and how to defend themselves here. He wouldn’t be caught unaware again.
Ten minutes later Viktor was regretting the thought. It was as though he had cursed himself. The men had melted out of the trees. A pair of them with vicious grins and orders to get off of their land. ”Yours? Nem.” Teeth bared, he shook out the map, jabbed a finger at it as though the thick red line the old man had scrawled for him wasn’t visible enough. ”This land belong with you. You move, yes? Or we make move.” The scent of wolf had wafted off of them as the first had tried to shove him back into the tree that might actually have been the border he was looking for.
Tossing the map aside, his eyes flashing, Viktor had taken the first one down. Not dead, he didn’t need that sort of trouble, but cowing him, showing him who was Alpha before three more had melted out of the trees. Numbers versus his power had left them at a stale mate by the time the other man had melted out of the trees.
Sneering at him, Viktor glanced down at the three men laying unconscious on the ground. He jabbed his finger down at them before he looked past the taller, slimmer man at the pair that were hanging back now. ”Alpha of this part,” he spat back. Gesturing like he was brushing the man’s words off, Viktor bent to retrieve his map from the ground. He made a show of dusting it off, then held it up in front of the man who had come to show him the error of his ways. ”See … my land. Not theirs. Not yours. Pack land. You trespass.” He doubted this man cared about that, the scent of him was wrong. Alpha. Yes, there were power, but there was something more than wrinkled his nose and had him scowling at the man.
Of course, Aliz chose that moment to finally arrive. Viktor cursed viciously under his breath as he heard the underbrush breaking behind him with the familiar sound of his sister’s step. ”Menj vissza. Mondd meg a többieknek, hogy hamarosan otthon leszek. Csak a szomszédokkal beszélgetek. Ez az idit azt hiszi, hogy a mi földünk az övé.” Their grandparents hadn’t bowed to the Germans or the Communists, he wouldn’t start to bow to the arrogance of this Alpha now. The town had other packs, other shifters and a dozen other things living here in relative peace. He would build the fence again if he needed to, out of mountain ash if he had to, but his pack wouldn’t be the one pushed out of Mystic Falls.

❝ The Lone Wolf Dies But The Pack Survives.❞
If there was one thing Aliz did wrong in life is that she had impeccably awful timing. Sometimes it was deliberate, even as a child she had lived for getting into trouble. Sometimes knowingly by her own actions or not. Even after her accident by the river she had almost enjoyed giving her eldest brother a heart attack, by still playing near the edge.
It had gotten less over the years, but she still found herself as like a beacon for trouble. First it had been nearly becoming a vampire’s dinner in the main square of town. Continuing to see said vampire, now and then and finding she surprisingly enjoyed his company at times.
But she picked the perfect moment to return to their new home. Coming back in through the woods stepping into the clearing of their home, she came upon her brother and another man that she didn’t recognize. Closer to the man that she didn’t recognize cursing that she would need to walk past him to get back to their home.
She narrowed her eyes at ‘the idiot’ (as her brother eloquently called him) but did or said nothing to provoke his anger. Something about him told her that he wasn’t to be messed with. At least not by her. Her brother however was a different story.
Giving her brother a small smile, surprise soon to cover his face, when for probably the first time in her life she was going to do as he said without argument. Looking for a path to give the idiot a wide berth and get back to the house. Walking slowly as not to alert him she started to make her way toward the house, resisting the urge to growl at the lackeys that had destroyed the fence. Her back was to the other alpha and tried her best to keep her eyes on him. As she reached near Viktor she turned slightly to keep him in her line of sight, ” Ne légy hős.” Don’t be a hero She warned him.
Last thing she wanted was to lose her brother. They were home… and she wasn’t going to lose it or him. Another glare in the idiot’s direction, she turned away to start her make her way toward their house. To warn the others, to get ready for a fight if need be.
Notes: Sorry. Didn't realize it was my turn!

BEGINNING OF THE END THE KOVAcs SIBLINGS
He was spoiling for a fight. He knew that. He had been trying his best to behave himself after the mess with the witches. Not just because he was licking his pride (and repairing his plaster) but because he had seen how his brother had reacted to his machinations. Like it or not, Elijah's opinion held a lot of wait in his life. He hated the idea of disappointing him.
So he would not.
But make no mistake, Klaus would still fight. He eyed the situation, the posturing alpha of his pack, the sister trying to soothe the tension --- the ridiculous idea that Klaus was confined to borders at all. He laughed, the sound hollow but also amused before he tilted his head. His eyes were already turning yellow, the beast in him eager to come out and play. It wanted to make up for how badly it had bungled things the last time around.
"I think you will find that I don't follow the traditional conventions of land ownership. Especially in cases such as this. This land, this town --- it is all mine. It has always been mine. I was born here, took my first steps, spilt my first blood..." He spoke as if his childhood was actually something worth remembering. It might have been hell on earth but it did one thing for him --- it anchored him to this land in a way few others could claim. He was here before the town was even a thought. "In truth, if you were smart you would have came to me to ask permission but you didn't. Too bad for you."
He could tell that a man like him needed a show rather than words. Klaus might have been able to twist a speech together but he was also a man of action. His eyes slid from the man to the retreating figure of his sister. He zeroed in much the same way any predator would. Only he was faster, more vicious. He didn't hesitate. He moved in a blink to twist his hand in the girl's hair, yanking her back into his arms. His hand banded around her neck and he looked to the man once again.
"I would call off any dogs that might decide to play hero."

Out of all of his siblings, Aliz had ended up the most like him. Their parents had found some amusement to it, nagyanya telling him that his little sister had come along to teach him patience, but for years, it had seemed like Aliz was just there to teach him how to deal with his frustration instead. Alex was the one to always preach patience, trying to play peace keeper between the two of them the same way he did between him and Harmony. Always talking sense and logic, softening the hottest edges to his temper. A born negotiator. Undoubtedly if his brother had been there now, the Alpha would have already been backing off. It was unfortunate for him – for both of them – that he had found the two members of their pack most likely to push for an argument instead.
Like he was dealing with bear, not a skinny English man who had a couple of inches on him in height, Viktor puffed himself up. He wasn’t about to give up the home they had finally found after more than a year of travelling to try and find somewhere safe for his family. For the pack. His teeth bared, the punch of the man’s laughter like a fist blow to his gut. It didn’t help when the other Alpha let his eyes glow yellow, as though that were a real threat. He had seen wolf’s eyes glowing that colour since he was a child, his own had shone a similar colour before they’d turned Alpha red. A sneer touched his own lips as he let his own glow again.
”Let me guess, all yours.” Viktor spread his arms, the map fluttering from one hand like he was able to encompass the whole town. The one mostly owned by the rich people who seemed to get celebrated every week around here. This might have been one of them, but it didn’t matter. The old man legally owned this land, he’d seen the paper work for it before he’d agreed to take the house on. While he might not have understood all of it, he knew enough to be sure that he was standing on land he had a legal entitlement to here. ”Your people try add my blood to ground. Didn’t work. Smart?” Viktor laughed, genuinely amused as he shook his head. ”You expect me to fall to knees? Beg for a place here? Too bad for you. Not beg anybody for what we have right to.” Nagyapa’s anger over what they had lost in the revolution suddenly flared into life in his own chest. He wasn’t blind or death, he knew there had been other packs in the town since they’d arrived but none of them had tried to drive him out the way this Alpha seemed to want to now.
Sure he could still talk his way out of this, but it was less likely to happen while Aliz was there. Viktor saw her eyes narrow and sighed, preparing to argue with her if he had to. He let out a long breath of his own as she smiled. Nodding at her, he gestured behind him. She was fast when she needed to be, if this Alpha’s puppies gave chase, she could likely outrun him. ”Csak ha kell,” he promised. Only if he had to be. This wasn’t like the village, most of the people he loved were well out of range. Or so he’d thought.
Aliz was behind him, almost out of the clearing. Almost safe. Like the snake he should have known he would be, the Alpha blurred past him to grab at Aliz. He caught her hair, pulling her back viciously in his arms before he wrapped a hand around her throat. ”Takes hands off of her,” Viktor growled, his eyes glowing red in warning again. His hands clenched, his claws emerging as he peeled his fingers open again. ”She not part of fight. It is me and you, coward. Hurt woman, don’t have balls to fight man with man. Let go of her. Aliz, ne harcolj.” Telling his sister not to fight against the man was likely as useless as trying to order him to release his sister in the first place. Viktor took a step towards him all the same, fangs bared, gritted, anger radiating off of him like heat from a road in summer.
