til now. The communist invasion of Hungary had finished what the war had begun. Viktor's grandfather and grandmother, a Russian night witch of actual magical stock who had crashed in Budapest and been rescued by a werewolf member of hte resistance, took their children and escaped across Russia and into Canada. A small settlement where the locals didn't ask questions and they were safe enough to raise their family. Viktor grew up there, hearing his grandparents talk of the old days, cursing the communists, spitting over anything Russian. Raised to be pack he learned how to use his hands - hunting, fishing, fixing the out of date equipment that was all they could get, and best of all, flying his grandmother's cargo plane. At just 25 Viktor was forced to get his family out of that place in the plane, hunters arriving in force, cutting down the villagers, his family, his own parents. With a single uncle and his family, his siblings and his grandfather Viktor made it out alive. Putting down on an island that was home to a former military base, Viktor put his grandfather out of the misery of a slow death from wolfsbane, becoming the Alpha he wasn't supposed to be for decades. With little food, little fuel and uncertain safety Viktor left his family in place while he went to search for new territory - safety. In three years of travelling eastern Europe he failed to find it, not until a run in with a half-Russian girl in Budapest. Guided by Harmony Viktor flew to America in that rusting plane, settling uneasily in Mystic Falls, still doubtful he'd found somewhere his pack could hunker down in safety.
friends. Friends and family were always the same. There were children in the village the Kovacs children got along with but for the most part it was a tight family circle. Viktor isn't sure who he can trust now but give a wolf a chance and he might not bite.
enemies. Hunters. Thanks to what happened to shatter his family Viktor despises them far more than the communists his family raised him to hate.
family. Nagyanya - grandmother, nagyapa - grandfather. Both dead now. Viktor presumes his parents are dead, left behind in the village when they were told to flee. On an island somewhere off the coast of Canada, Viktor believes his uncle Laszlo and his wife, their children and his brother and two sisters are still alive.
lovers. Viktor's first love, a teenager's crush on a pretty girl, was one of the first cut down in the village. After there wasn't time or trust for more. Now he's banging his head against the wall with a Russian of all things. Arguing, stealing back the covers, falling deeper with every push from that tongue he still only half understands.
