━ your sweetness is more cruel than your hurt ━
Hope looked down at the angel blade currently on the desk right in front of her. She picked it up, her eyes fixed on the way it seemed to gleam, reflecting the light as she moved it around, inspecting it. This very weapon could kill Raziel and while this should mean that they have their work laid ahead of them and it should be a walk in the park from there, having a weapon that could kill Raziel and actually killing him were two very different things especially with the fact that he was no regular opponent but an angel. He was dangerous and if any of them made the wrong move, they could all die by his hands. Hope had to be absolutely sure that their plan was fault-proof so that they could all walk away from this victorious and without losing everyone, including themselves.
Hope's attention moved up from the blade in her hands to look at Ben when she heard his approaching footsteps. She placed the blade down and offered him a small smile before she rose from her seat. "Hey, Ben." She greeted in a soft voice as she made her way around the desk, her eyes relaxing on Ben once more. "I'm surprised you're still here. It's late." Hope should've gone home hours ago, but she couldn't. Not when she felt like she had so much to think about. It wouldn't offer her any peace of mind either if she just left everything and went home. She wouldn't be able to get any sleep. "Is everything okay?" She decided to ask him first, just in case he came here with a request in mind or in case he needed something.

Ben had known that his father was dangerous for thousands of years, after all the guy had found a way to curse him after he stole magic from Heaven and gave it away to humans on Earth, but he hadn’t known that the angel was capable of something like this. There wasn’t a day that went by where Ben didn’t wish that things had worked out differently, that his father would have failed in killing Hope and Josie, but it was too late for that now. Hope’s vampire side had been activated meaning that she was now a full Tribrid and was stronger than ever while Josie had died with Hope’s blood in her system making her a Heretic. Add to that the fact that Jed was now a hybrid and Ben had been learning how to use his abilities and he knew that they were in a much stronger position than they had been last time. His father wasn’t going to get the chance to catch them off guard again, they would make sure of it, but at the same time he knew that they couldn’t afford to get complacent. If they did that then people could die and it wasn’t just their lives at stake this time, it was the lives of every supernatural in the world and Ben knew that they couldn’t afford to fail. It was a lot of pressure to carry but Ben knew that the squad could handle it. They weren’t going it alone this time either, they had outside help and that was something that he was pretty sure that his father wouldn’t see coming. His father saw Ben’s friends as children who didn’t deserve to be alive but Ben knew better. They were the strongest people he had ever met and he was beyond proud to know them. That day it was getting late but Ben had ended up staying at the school while Jed and Josie took some time to hang out together. Jed was going to text him when he was on his way home and Ben had promised to pick up some takeout on the way but until then he had been doing some research into a way to stop his father and after hearing that Hope was still around as well, Ben decided to go and check on her. “Hey,” he said, offering her a smile as he approached. “I could say the same for you, I thought you’d gone home hours ago,” he admitted. “Everything is fine, Jed and Josie have been hanging out so I thought I’d use the time to do some research,” he shrugged before studying Hope carefully for a moment. “How about you, is everything okay?” Hope was their leader and he knew that she felt the weight of that but that didn’t mean that she couldn’t talk about it and he hoped that she would. ━ your sweetness is more cruel than your hurt ━
Hope nodded her head slowly at Ben's comment before she released a soft chuckle. "Yeah, I probably should have a long time ago, but..." Hope's shoulders lifted and dropped in a quick shrug. "I just couldn't. I can't stop thinking about Raziel." It made her overthink a lot and there was not a darker place than Hope's mind when she overthinks, so she's been trying to stay busy for the most part. But as she looked down at the angel blade, she couldn't help the soft sigh that escaped her lips. She was the squad's leader, she always felt like she had to have her answers ready to whatever trouble they face, or she felt like she had to protect them because they trusted her and trust was a precious thing and she didn't want to let them down, not now, or ever.
Hope's lips stretched into a fond smile when Ben talked about Jed and Josie have been doing. She nodded her head because that was essentially what she was doing, using her time to do a little bit of research. "I'm okay." Hope said with a quick nod of her head following. "Well, as okay as I can be in the face of an impending apocalypse." Hope breathed out a chuckle but it was a little humorless as she looked down at the blade resting on the table. "Isn't it strange how we have the weapon that could kill Raziel, but it still doesn't feel like a victory?" Hope gnawed on her bottom lip momentarily as she lifted the blade, examining it left and right. "To tell you the truth, I'm worried. I'm worried that this is beyond us. I mean, we're up against an angel, Ben. A really powerful one at that. What if I━" Hope looked down with a small frown tugging at her features. "What if I let you guys down? What if that crazy bastard actually kickstarts the apocalypse? There's so much on the line here..." Hope trailed off as she slowly lowered the weapon back down again with a soft clink sound. She looked up at Ben not long after, her arms now crossed in front of her chest as she thought about it for a moment.

Ben hated that his father was the cause of so much strife, he had only met the angel once and that was when Raziel had killed Hope and Josie. While Ashur was dying he had begged his father to show up and help him but he hadn’t answered the call and that had hurt. Now thousands of years later he had showed up and it had been to reveal that he was planning on wiping out every supernatural across the world. He had started with them because he had wanted to make them pay for creating the bracelet that had stopped the monsters coming after Ben. It wasn’t a permanent solution and Ben knew that there were much more important things to focus on now so he knew that he just had to be patient. As it was the bracelet was still around his wrist and he hadn’t ever taken it off since it was given to him because he knew what it would mean if he did. He didn’t want anyone else getting hurt and he hated that his father was the one who was doing all of this but it made him even more determined to find a way to stop him. “I know what you mean, I can’t either,” Ben admitted. He had tried to put his father out of his mind for thousands of years and succeeded but now it was a completely different story. “Unfortunately it’s not the first the world has faced and I don’t think it will be the last either,” Ben admitted. He had seen it time and time again over the years, someone always tried to change the way things were and fortunately each time they had failed miserably. Something told Ben that there would be plenty more things like this to come but each time they would face it together and Ben knew he just had to trust that they would come through it the other side. “It’s not strange at all. Having the weapon and being able to use it are two very different things, especially when Raziel has so many tricks up his sleeve,” he sighed. Last time Raziel had seen to it that he would be strong enough to take them down by having his strength enhanced and there was no telling what he might do next. It was scary to say the least but Ben knew that they were just going to have to find some ways to take the angel by surprise as well. As Hope spoke again, Ben’s expression softened. “You won’t let us down,” he said, bringing a hand up to squeeze Hope’s shoulder gently. “This isn’t all on you, we’re all in this together and we have help. Alaric, Jenna, Henrik, Bonnie, Stefan and the others, they’re all with us in this. We’ll find a way to stop him, we have to. Raziel thinks he knows what’s best for the world but he doesn’t and we have something that he doesn’t – something worth fighting for. Remember, when steel meets steel and blood is shed, when the fire and fog of war is swimming all around you... trust your instincts. They won’t serve you wrong.”HOPE MIKAELSON
