━ if you bled, I'll bleed the same. if you're scared, I'm on my way ━
A groan fell from his lips at the bright light in his bedroom. He must have forgotten to lower the blinds yesterday before bed and now he was paying the price of it. He was usually not an early bird, but it seemed like today, his morning schedule had already been decided for him. Lucian wiped his eyes with the back of his hand, feeling an odd sensation in his finger ━ his ring finger, to be exact. Perhaps he had forgotten to take off his rings before bed. It seemed like the most logical explanation. Lucian's eyes finally fluttered open, his eyelashes still feeling quite heavy and for a moment, he almost went back to sleep but he pushed through, and eventually, his eyes were open. Though they squinted as soon as possible, unused to the brightness of his bedroom. He usually couldn't sleep until his room was filled with nothing but darkness but it seems as though yesterday he had failed to do so many things. Lucian could easily remember consuming countless drinks which would easily explain why he had failed to follow his night routine to a T.
Lucian had expected his morning to be the same as the previous ones but as he slowly came to the realization that there was, in fact, another body laying next to him, his lips parted in surprise. Lucian still didn't look at them yet, he could feel their presence, though. Ah, he wondered momentarily just who he had brought with him last night. It wasn't exactly his first time doing such a thing which explained why he seemed to relax after his initial shock had washed away. Though that same shock returned with full force when he turned to face his companion, his lips parting as his eyes relaxed on none other than Alexander. A face that was quite familiar to Lucian.
Lucian blinked a few times, wondering if he was still dreaming. He lifted his hand to touch Alexander's face to see if his hand would go through him but it didn't. His fingers met warm skin which made him jerk his hand away abruptly as if he had been burnt. Lucian's eyes moved to his own hand in an instant, noticing the silver band wrapped around his finger. "There's no way..." Lucian trailed off, his hand reaching for Alexander's to see that he had a matching ring, too. On the bed with them were the papers that made their marriage official, too. There was champagne on the floor, and the flutes were also on the floor, tipped over. Lucian frowned as he attempted to gather any memory fragments from the day before but it was all just a blur to Lucian. "Alexander." He called out, his voice carrying a hint of softness reserved only for the other. "Wake up. We might have a bit of a situation here." Understatement of the year, huh?

Alec was used to sleeping alone. He had been in a few different relationships over the years and he’d even been in love a couple of times but none of those relationships had worked out. If he was honest there was only one person Alec found his thoughts turning to whenever he thought about what he wanted his future to look like and that was Lucian. He had always known what it was crazy, they’d had so many opportunities to be together but it had never worked out for them and Alec hadn’t even known if he would see Lucian again. Instead he was doing his best to carry on with his life and that was all that he really could do. Truth be told it had been a while since he had last been in a relationship and he had moved to Mystic Falls in the hope of finding his father and helping the two boys that Evangeline had asked him to help so starting something new had been the last thing on his mind. Somehow Alec had already found his father and after such a long time apart the night before he had been reunited with someone else as well, Lucian. The last time they had seen each other they were in different places in their lives but now things had changed and Alec wasn’t sure that was a bad thing. Still half asleep, there was a part of Alec that knew there was someone in the bed beside him and was aware of every movement as that person stirred even if he wasn’t immediately aware of who it was. Alec could feel himself beginning to wake up and he became more aware of his surroundings as he felt someone’s fingers against his face. Alec wasn’t good at letting people get too close to him these days, he had lost so many people along the way and the fact that he was immortal meant that he would lose plenty of others as well. He had built walls around his heart to protect himself from getting hurt again but the night before those walls had started crumbling when he saw Lucian again and little did he know that the person in the bed next to him was about to bring those walls down once and for all. It was the sound of his name coming from a voice he knew all too well that finally brought Alec out of the best night’s sleep he’d had in a long time and as he opened his eyes his gaze came to rest on Lucian. His was the one face that Alec had longed to see first thing in the morning like this for a long time but he hadn’t thought that he would ever get the chance to do that again. It seemed surreal that he was here now and Alec knew that he had to make sure. “Lucian? Is that really you?” he asked, the events of the night before lost to him for the time being. Bringing his hand up he rubbed the sleep from his eyes as he yawned and it was then that he felt something different against his skin – it was a cool metal band and as he drew his hands away from his face his eyes widened in surprise as he took in the ring that lay there. “What’s going on?” he asked as he pushed himself up into a sitting position, taking in the sight of what he could only assume was Lucian’s apartment around them. “Did we –“ he began, his voice trailing off as his eyes came to rest on the papers that were laid on the bed in front of them. Picking them up, his gaze swept over the text and his breath caught in his throat. “Did we get married last night?” he asked, not sure whether Lucian remembered anything about it. LUCIAN ACKERMAN

━ if you bled, I'll bleed the same. if you're scared, I'm on my way ━
As much as he wanted to doubt it, the papers currently residing on his bed looked legitimate and by the looks of his bedroom, they were quite happy about what they had done the night before. Lucian tried to push himself into recalling the events of the night before, but it was all like a blur. Lucian knew that if he pushed it too hard, he might wind up with an even stronger headache than the one he could feel brewing behind his eyes, waiting for the perfect moment to strike and sour his mood. But, he doubted that the attempts would be successful because he had Alexander by his side and life could very well throw its best obstacles at him and he wouldn't even flinch or pay it any mind. He was perfectly content.
Contentment wasn't an easy emotion to feel and so he wanted to cherish it. Well, after he gets past his initial confusion, that is. Lucian's eyes settled on none other than Alexander who finally started to wake up. "It's really me." Lucian confirmed with a hint of a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "From the looks of it, you're just as hungover as I am, huh?" This meant the chances of Alexander recalling the events of last night were pretty slim. "I have no recollection of our time together last night. I have no idea how this came to be, but..." Lucian found himself also looking at his own ring finger, his other hand gently tracing over the ring when Alexander finally said it out loud. His head finally lifted as his eyes relaxed on Alexander. "Yes, my dear Alexander. It seems as though we did get married yesterday." It felt so weird to say that out loud. Unlike the majority, Lucian didn't spend his time thinking about marriage and having kids, mainly because, well, his heart was always elsewhere --- it was always with someone else. That exact same person was currently in his bed.
"I have gotten drunk many times before, but I can't say I have ever woken up married to someone before." There was a breathless chuckle following his words. "I suppose we should discuss this, yes? But first, you can freshen up. My home is now your home too, my dear husband." Lucian couldn't get over how strange it all was, but a selfish part of him wanted to enjoy it, just in case they do decide to call it off.
"I'll make us something to soothe that awful hangover. That's my specialty, after all." Lucian said as he finally got up from the bed to head to the kitchen to make them something to eat to help reduce the symptoms of their hangover.

It felt completely surreal to Alec that he was laying in bed next to Lucian now. He would be lying if he said that he hadn’t thought about it more than a few times over the course of his long life, in fact a lot of the time when he was with someone else he found himself wishing they were Lucian instead but it was a dream that he had never thought would happen. Right now Alec was tempted to pinch himself to make sure that he wasn’t actually dreaming but he could feel the weight of Lucian on the other side of the bed and as he reached over and brushed his fingers against Lucian’s hand he could feel that he was real. How this had happened Alec had no idea but he would be lying if he said that he wasn’t happy in that moment. Even though he had wanted this for such a long time the truth was that Alec was still confused and he wasn’t sure whether Lucian was actually happy about this or whether he was just amused by it. Alec couldn’t recall what had happened the night before after meeting Lucian and the two of them started drinking together but if there was anyone that he would want to end up married to then he knew that it was Lucian. Alec had been in other relationships in the past and he had been in love before but his feelings for them had always failed in comparison to the way he felt about Lucian and he had started to wonder if he would ever find anyone he could love as much as he did the man next to him right now. “I’m definitely hungover although I’m glad I’m not the only one,” he admitted. Alec had suspected that Lucian didn’t remember what had happened either but as he confirmed it, Alec still couldn’t help but feel surprised. “I wish I could remember what happened last night,” Alec breathed. He could see the matching ring on Lucian’s finger and the marriage certificate on the bed. There were also champagne flutes knocked over on the floor so it was clear that they had been happy about what they had done just hours before but now he wasn’t sure how Lucian felt about it and the truth was that scared him more than anything else. Lifting his gaze to meet Lucian’s, Alec’s heart leapt as Lucian called him my dear Alexander. It was something that Lucian had called him before but this time it felt different. This time Lucian wasn’t just his best friend, he was his husband and Alec was doing his best to make sense of it all. “This is a first for me too although I’m glad it’s you,” Alec admitted. Putting his heart on the line wasn’t something that he was used to doing at all, he had wanted to tell Lucian how he felt so many times but he had always bottled it. There was clearly a connection between the two of them and the chemistry had been there right from the start but Lucian was the one person that Alec had always been too scared to lose. “Yeah, I guess we should,” he nodded as Lucian said that they should discuss this although his cheeks flushed red as Lucian called him his husband. It sounded strange hearing those words but more than anything it felt right. “Great, thanks. I’ll be there in a minute,” Alec said, his head spinning as he watched Lucian leave the room. Alec had never been the kind of guy to do something like this, he was impulsive at times but when it came to his heart he had become so good at keeping his walls up although somehow it seemed like they had come crashing down last night. Climbing out of bed, Alec pulled on the jeans he had been wearing the night but left his discarded shirt on the floor before making his way into the ensuite and splashing some cold water on his face. “Come on, pull yourself together,” he breathed, knowing that he was being ridiculous right now. Lucian hadn’t seemed angry or repulsed by what had happened, if anything he had seemed ready to embrace it and Alec knew that he needed to come clean now. Taking a deep breath, he made his way into the living room once he had finished freshening up and from there he joined Lucian in the kitchen. “Sorry for taking so long,” he said, offering Lucian a sheepish smile as he reached him. “This is insane but does it make me crazy for feeling glad that it happened?” he asked, needing to know if Lucian really did feel the same way he did. ━ if you bled, I'll bleed the same. if you're scared, I'm on my way ━
Lucian released a small hum at that, the edge of his lips rising into a small smile. "Definitely not the only one." He added a moment later. He was glad that despite being a supernatural creature, he could still enjoy the simplest things in life. He could still feel things like a hangover. As odd as that sounds. But he had a feeling that he'd grow bored of life if he was simply immune to everything. "You and me both. But there's no use trying to force yourself to remember. Let the memories come to you instead. I've learned that much, at least." Lucian empathized with Alexander because he couldn't help but want the same thing, too.
Lucian's lips stretched to form a small smile at Alexander's words. "I'm glad that it's you, too." His tone was sincere as he spoke, his eyes relaxing on the other once again, watching him quietly without saying anything at first before he finally made the suggestion that they should discuss what they had done. Though before that, he would brew his finest remedy for them both to help them overcome their hangover. "Take all the time you need." Lucian said with a gentle smile on his lips as he excused himself first.
He was almost done when Alexander's voice came through. He turned to look at him, his expression softening before he shook his head. "Oh, it's fine." He assured as he continuously stirred the soup so it wouldn't clump together. Though he ultimately stopped as he took a moment to really process Alexander's words. "It doesn't make you crazy, Alexander. If I'm being completely honest myself, I feel the same way." Lucian finally spoke up, his eyes moving to settle on Alexander once again after turning off the stove. "But, we also need to think this through. Marriage is a big deal, as outdated as that may sound. Do you really want to spend the rest of your immortal life tied to me? For me, that's not even a question. Of course, I would, but this isn't just about me. It's about you, too. I just don't want to ruin your chances of meeting someone better, that's all."

"That's a good thing at least," Alec admitted as Lucian confirmed that he wasn't the only one who was hungover. Alec had never even come close to doing something like this before, sure he'd had a few too many drinks and gone home with someone on more than a few occasions but that was it. He had never ended up having too much to drink and marrying someone but even though it was a lot to take in and Alec knew there was so much that they needed to figure out the truth was that there was still a part of him that was glad this had happened. He knew that he wouldn't be feeling that way if Lucian rejected him but it would at least give Alec the push he needed to come clean with him and that wasn't such a bad thing. "I think that's a good idea, we just need to give it some time," he nodded as Lucian said they should let the memories come to them. "When did you become so wise?" he asked, a teasing smile touching his lips as he looked over at Lucian. As Lucian said he was glad it was him too, Alec's expression softened. "You are?" he asked, unable to ignore the way that small admission had his heart racing. It was embarrassing, really, but it was an effect that only Lucian had ever had on him. "Thank you," he said sincerely as Lucian told him to take all the time he needed, knowing that he was definitely going to need to take a minute to get his head around the fact that he had ended up having too much to drink and had somehow married his best friend. By the time he emerged Alec felt a little embarrassed at having taken so long but Lucian said it was fine and Alec believed him. Alec knew that telling Lucian he was glad it had happened was a big deal and that it was completely selfish but he couldn't stop himself and as Lucian said he felt the same way, Alec studied him carefully for a moment before a smile touched his lips as Lucian' expression confirmed what he'd thought - he was being completely serious right now. "I never knew you felt that way about me," Alec admitted at last. Lucian had never said anything to him but then again Alec knew that he hadn't either. As Lucian continued before saying that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with him, Alec felt like his heart was going to beat right out of his chest. Before he could say anything Lucian was saying he didn't want to stop Alec finding someone better and before Alec even knew what he was doing he closed the distance between them and let his hand cup Lucian's cheek before kissing him passionately. He poured everything that he was feeling into that kiss and as he pulled away his expression was full of nothing but love for the man before him. "I don't want to ever hear you talk like that again, do you hear me? There is no one better than you," he said, his eyes locked on Lucian's as he spoke. "Have you really not figured it out by now?" he asked incredulously as he looked over at Lucian. "I've been in love with you since I was thirteen and I've been in love with others since then but when I picture who I want to spend my life with, it's always you that I see there beside me. It always has been."LUCIAN ACKERMAN

━ if you bled, I'll bleed the same. if you're scared, I'm on my way ━
Lucian felt a small smile touch his lips as he nodded his head at Alexander’s words, feeling the same way too. When Alexander relented and decided to give it some time, his expression turned into a pleased one, looking all too happy to know that he had managed to convince Alexander not to stress about the lack of memories of the night before too much. A chuckle escaped his lips at Alexander’s teasing comment. “Are you perhaps suggesting that I wasn’t wise before?” He asked in a teasing voice, his tone lacking any heat to it. “Also, drinking has become one of my many, many hobbies. I don’t do it excessively, of course. I know my own limits, but — I do tend to enjoy a drink every now and then. Or in yesterday’s case, several bottles.” He said with a brief chuckle falling from his lips not long after.
“Of course,” Lucian spoke up, his eyes relaxing on Alexander once again, his expression softening. Then, it was time for him to prepare the remedy for both of them and for Alexander to freshen up. Then, when Alexander emerged, it was time for them to talk. “I admit, I’m not very good at opening up, but I have always felt this way for you, Alexander. We may have gone our own ways several times, but it never changed the way I feel about you. Not even a little bit.” Lucian wondered if by admitting that he was being extremely selfish — he hoped not. He didn’t want to influence Alexander’s decision. Alexander had always managed to surprise him in one way or the other but when the younger leaned in and kissed him, that was probably what had surprised him the most, if the quiet gasp that he let out was of any indicator. Once he had gotten past the initial shock, he was quick to reply back to the kiss almost right away, his hands lifting as if they had grown a mind of their own to rest on Alexander’s cheeks, drawing him even closer as he allowed his lips to move passionately against his husband’s.
Lucian was quiet as he listened to Alexander, his expression softening and his eyes filled with so much love for Alexander. He could feel his heart squeeze so tightly that he worried it would burst in his chest. His expression grew fonder as he continued listening to the younger. “You continue to surprise me, Alexander,” Lucian spoke up, his tone still holding the same softness to it. “I have been in love with you for as long as I can remember, too. It’s always been you.” His thumb gently caressed Alexander’s cheek, his eyes fixed solely on the other. “I love you, Alexander,” Lucian said in a soft voice. “In this case, we don’t have to end our marriage. We can stay as husbands.” Lucian’s lips stretched to form a sincere smile. “Come on, let’s get some food in you, hm?” Lucian leaned in to press one more kiss on Alexander’s lips just because he wanted to and then leaned back to go back to stirring the soup until he deemed it ready. He filled Alexander’s bowl and then did the same to his own bowl. “Here you go. This should heal that splitting headache in no time.” Lucian gestured for the dining table with a half-smile on his lips. His apartment was spacious and modern, his finest creation. It was clear that he lived a luxurious life and the fact that he lived in an otherwise small town definitely wasn’t going to change that. “Can you tell me what I have missed?” Lucian couldn’t deny the fact that he was curious about what he had missed while the two of them were apart.

Alec hated the fact that he couldn’t remember what had happened the night before but he knew that Lucian was right, he just had to give it time and then hopefully the memories would return to him. He wasn’t annoyed by the fact that they had gotten married and seemingly spent the night together celebrating their union, what annoyed him was the fact that he had no recollection of it. He couldn’t remember the first night he had spent with the guy he had loved pretty much his whole life and he knew that he would feel like there was something missing until those memories came back to him. “I might be,” Alec chuckled as Lucian asked if he was suggesting that he wasn’t wise before. “You might be older than me but that doesn’t necessarily mean wiser,” he added, his tone light and teasing as he spoke. Truth be told there were only a couple of years between the two of them and it had never mattered to either of them. They had stood by each other through everything and it had been easy to do that even when Lucian had started college but not so much when Alec’s parents had forced him to live on campus away from his family and friends. A Lucian spoke again, Alec couldn’t help but laugh. “Don’t remind me, I have no idea how we got through so many,” he chuckled. “Thankfully my boss is a friend of mine, otherwise I think we would have been in trouble,” he added with a grin. Even though Alec had always hoped that Lucian had felt the same and there had been some near misses along the way, the truth was that he hadn’t known for sure how the other guy had felt and hearing it now was enough to make Alec’s heart skip a beat. “Time hasn’t changed the way I feel about you either. It never seemed like the right time for us before. We both had college and then my parents died and I couldn’t stay, then during the war you were grieving the loss of someone you loved and I didn’t want to take advantage. Now it finally feels different, it feels like this is our time,” he admitted. That was why he had held back from making a move during the war, he had known that Lucian had fallen in love with another and had lost him and Alec hadn’t wanted whatever happened between them to end up being something that Lucian would ultimately regret. Kissing Lucian was perhaps the riskiest thing that he had ever done but it felt right and his heart started hammering in his chest as Lucian pulled him closer and kissed him back. “I hope that’s a good thing,” Alec admitted as Lucian said that he continued to surprise him. Lucian’s next words were enough to have Alec’s heart skipping a beat once more and his gaze softened as Lucian said he loved him. “I love you,” he breathed, his gaze never wavering as he said those words out loud for the first time. He had thought about saying them to Lucian so many times and it had to be said that this wasn’t exactly how he had thought it would go but Alec wasn’t so sure that was a bad thing, this was very them. “Good because I don’t want to lose you as my husband,” he nodded, lowering his gaze to look down at Lucian’s hand as Alec traced his fingers lightly over the wedding band on Lucian’s finger. “This will definitely be a fun story to tell our kids one day,” he chuckled before hesitating for a moment. “Wait, do you even want kids?” he asked, quickly realising that it was one of the things that they had never talked about. As Lucian said about food, Alec nodded. “Definitely, I’m starving,” he admitted, kissing Lucian back gently before taking the bowl from him once the soup was done. “Thank you. You’ll have to teach me how to make this one day,” he nodded as he followed Lucian through to the dining room before starting to eat his soup. As Lucian asked what he had missed, Alec’s expression turned thoughtful for a moment. “For the most part my life hasn’t been that exciting. I travelled and fought in a few more wars and I’ve been learning as much as I can about the supernatural world,” he explained. “I became a hunter but I don’t hurt innocents, I only go after those who find joy in killing others and I try to protect humans and supernaturals alike so I hope that doesn’t change anything for you,” he continued, hoping that it wouldn’t put Lucian off. “I met my boss at the Grill a while ago and I’ve been working with her ever since. She’s the reason I came here actually, there are a couple of teenagers who are supernatural and are going through a tough time so she thought I could help them. She also found a lead on my father and I found him. It feels crazy saying those words after all these years but he’s here in town,” he finished, his gaze fixed on Lucian as he spoke. “What about you, what have I missed in your life?”LUCIAN ACKERMAN

━ if you bled, I'll bleed the same. if you're scared, I'm on my way ━
Lucian let out a chuckle at Alexander's words. "Oh, look at you, being so cheeky." He rolled his eyes in a manner that can easily be described as fond, his smile returning to his lips. "I'll have you know, I'm exceptionally wise." He glanced over at the abandoned bottle of champagne before clearing his throat. "Maybe not so much when there's alcohol involved in the equation." Lucian added a moment later with a breathless chuckle falling from his lips not long after. "Oh, is that so? That's a relief, then. I was actually starting to love the Mystic Grill, would've been a terrible shame to get banned from ever entering it again."
Lucian's expression softened as he listened to Alexander, his lips stretching to form a gentle smile. "I get that. Fate hasn't been exactly kind to us, but now it's different, isn't it?" They had parted ways many times before, each time they had a pretty good reason and they never parted on bad terms. Each time they parted, he hoped he'd see Alexander again because a part of him did want something more with him. It seemed like the stars had aligned in their favor this time around as he glanced down at the band wrapped around his ring finger, his lips stretching to form a soft smile.
"Oh, it's a wonderful thing, dear." Lucian said with a soft smile resting on his lips. He seemed all too pleased to hear that Alexander didn't want to lose him as his husband. He still couldn't believe that he was married to Alexander. It all felt like something straight out of fiction. Lucian's expression shifted into one of surprise momentarily when Alexander said it would be a fun story to tell their kids one day. Hearing Alexander say that made his heart flutter in the strangest way possible and soon enough, Alexander's question was pulling him out of his thoughts. "Oh, with no doubt, Alexander. I would love nothing more." Lucian admitted all too quickly, not wanting him to think that Lucian didn't want that. "I have always wanted to be a father." He added with a hint of a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "The only thing that made me hesitate was because my own father was barely present. I guess a part of me was worried I would be like him. Fleeting. Nearly non-existent in my own kids' lives because there's truly nothing worse than an absentee parent. It's why I've decided to wait. That, and I also kept imagining building that sort of life with you more than anyone else I've ever been with."
Lucian felt a gentle smile form on his lips at Alexander's words. "Oh, it's quite simple, actually. I'll teach you." Lucian promised, his gentleness still visible in the tone of his voice. Lucian was quiet as he listened to Alexander, taking a moment to carefully push back the sleeve of his silk robe so it wouldn't drop into the soup when he reached for the tissues to make them present on the table in case Alexander needed one. He leaned back on his seat, his leg comfortably resting on top of the other, his eyes never wavering from Alexander before his lips stretched to form a soft smile. "It changes nothing. If anything, I'm happy that you have found your calling, Alexander." Lucian assured him in a soft voice. He nodded his head as he continued listening to Alexander before his expression shifted into one of surprise when Alexander revealed that he had found his father. "Alexander, that's wonderful news. I'm really happy for you. I know how much you've wanted this to happen." Lucian was definitely happy for the younger. "How selfless of you, to want to help those teenagers. They must be going through a difficult time. If you would like, I can assist you with that. I have a bit of experience with helping new supernaturals." Lucian revealed with a nod of his head following.
When the question was returned to him, his expression turned thoughtful for a moment. "After we parted ways, I went back to Hugo's parents. I took care of them for a couple of years and in return, they would help me with my powers. My fox and I, we have always been on ━ shaky grounds. I didn't understand what it wanted from me and I suppose in a way, it didn't understand me either. We were so completely out of touch that it took me years to finally be able to understand this power that I was gifted with and when I did, I made a promise to help those who need it. Being pushed into the supernatural world with no guidance was ━ awful and so, I have always tried to help any newbies that I find. Some accepted my help and some were a little difficult, but they always came around in the end. I mean, how could they not? I'm quite charming when I want to be." The last bit was only said in a joking manner as his lips stretched into a smile. "I actually only ever came to Mystic Falls because there was someone who needed my help. After I helped him, I thought about leaving but then I found this hidden gem. Well, not the apartment, but the gem underneath it. My antique shop." Lucian revealed with a half-smile resting on his lips. "And so I decided to stay and I'm quite happy that I did because otherwise, I wouldn't have met you."

“You love it,” Alec grinned as Lucian said that he was being cheeky. If there was one person that he had always been able to be himself around then it was Lucian. The guy had always made him feel like he was free to be himself and that was something that Alec had missed during the time they had spent apart. He had kept the way he truly felt about Lucian to himself because he hadn’t wanted to risk losing him but now so much had changed in such a short space of time and Alec could only hope that it was going to work out for them. “I’ll have to take your word for that, I don’t remember what was said last night so I can’t say for sure,” he teased. He knew that it might be a little too soon to joke about it but Lucian was still doing the same anyway so Alec knew that it was fine. “To be fair, I think the same can be said of both of us after last night,” he chuckled. They had either made the best decision they had ever made or the worst one but they were talking and laughing so Alec honestly hoped that it would be the former. “You’re safe, don’t worry. I’ll put in a good word for you,” he grinned. As Lucian spoke again, Alec nodded. “It’s definitely different now. This might not be what either of us planned but I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t thought about it before,” he admitted. He had thought about what it would be like to be with Lucian so many times over the years and they had come close in the past but the timing had never been right for them. Now they had a lot to catch up on but as he looked down at the ring on his finger he couldn’t deny that it felt right. “I was hoping you would say that,” Alec grinned as Lucian said that it was a wonderful thing that he kept surprising him. Lucian meant so much to him and Alec had been so worried that it might turn out that this wasn’t what he wanted and that Lucian would try to find a way to let him down gently but it turned out that he hadn’t had to worry about that after all. They were married and they both wanted it to stay that way. It seemed so incredible but Alec couldn’t help but feel glad that they had thrown caution to the wind the night before and tied the knot, he just wished that he could remember it. The words about what had happened being a fun story to tell their kids one day had slipped out of Alec’s mouth before he had even thought about what he was saying and he felt relief flood through him as Lucian said that he had always wanted to be a father. “You’re going to be an incredible dad,” Alec assured him. As Lucian said that he didn’t want to turn out like his father, Alec brought his hands up and cupped his husband’s face gently. “You’re nothing like your father. You’re kind and compassionate and you’re the most caring guy I’ve ever known. You’re not going to make the same mistakes that he did, I’ll make sure of it,” he promised. Alec’s own parents had been pretty absent from his life because they had been busy working so he could definitely understand the worry but he wasn’t going to let Lucian do that to their children. “I’ve always wanted that life with you as well. No one else even came close.”“I’m looking forward to it,” Alec said, a smile touching his lips as Lucian promised to teach him how to make the soup that he was making. Alec knew how to make certain meals but the truth was that he had never really worried too much since he’d mostly been cooking for himself. He had never really had to worry about anyone else since whoever he was seeing at the time had often been happy to go out to eat or had been the one to do the cooking but now Alec had a reason to learn since it wasn’t just him on his own anymore. Alec knew that dropping the bombshell that he was a hunter after everything that had happened was a lot but he knew that he needed Lucian to go into this with his eyes open so he had to be honest. He had worried that Lucian might react badly but instead he was smiling and Alec felt relief flood through him. “I have,” he nodded, still unable to believe that Lucian had taken it so well. “I’ve never liked killing but like during the war if it’s to save people then sometimes it can’t be helped,” he shrugged. As Lucian spoke again, Alec’s smile returned. “I needed answers and I’m hoping now I’ll finally get some,” he admitted. He hadn’t wanted to overwhelm his father straight away but Alec did have questions and he hoped that in time he would get the answers he needed. “That would be great,” Alec admitted as Lucian offered to help him with the boys. “They’re called Raf and Landon. From what Evangeline told me they were living with a foster family when Raf triggered his werewolf curse but he’s now a hybrid and Landon was revealed to be a phoenix like me when Raf lost control and killed him,” he explained, needing to at least tell Lucian as much as he knew. “I don’t know all of the details yet but from what she told me they’re both good kids, they’ve just been dealt an awful hand in life.”Eating some of his soup, Alec looked over at Lucian and listened intently as he explained what his life had been like. “I’m sorry you were struggling, I wish I’d been there for you,” he admitted gently. “Have you worked things out now?” he asked, hoping that the answer to that question would be yes. Alec hated the thought of Lucian struggling with anything so he really hoped that things had worked out for him in the end. “I know just how charming you can be all too well,” Alec chuckled. “Seriously though, I’m proud of you for helping where you can. Being thrown into this world is awful so it feels right to give back when we can.” That was something that Alec had always wanted to do and it seemed that he and Lucian were the same in that regard. As Lucian explained what had brought him to Mystic Falls, Alec felt his smile return. “For what it’s worth I’m glad you stayed. Our paths might have crossed again in the future but we probably wouldn’t have ended up getting married and that gave us the push we needed to be honest about how we feel so I’m glad things worked out the way they did,” he said, reaching across the table and giving Lucian’s hand a gentle squeeze. “Now we’ve decided we’re really doing this we should probably decide where we’re going to live. I have a house in town but I can see how much you’ve put your stamp on this place while I’ve hardly started unpacking so we can live here if you like,” he offered, knowing that he really didn’t mind either way. ━ if you bled, I'll bleed the same. if you're scared, I'm on my way ━
“I can’t say that I do not,” Lucian said with a half-smile tugging at the corner of his lips already. He let out a chuckle at Alexander’s teasing words before he nodded his head. “Fair point.” Waking up to find that he was married to someone was a big surprise for Lucian. He never thought such a thing would happen but he wasn’t exactly upset about it. Just surprised. He nodded his head a few times at Alexander’s next words, his lips stretching to form a gentle smile. “That’s for certain.” He glanced around them, his bedroom looking like a mess which was so unlike him since he was someone who didn’t like messes and always kept his environment clean and taken care of. “Oh, why thank you,” Lucian said with a gentle smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
Lucian nodded his head at Alexander’s words, his lips stretching to form a genuine smile. He had thought about it before, as well. How could he not? His expression softened when Alexander told him that he was going to be an incredible dad. His words eased his words as his lips stretched into a genuine smile. “I’m sure you’re going to be an incredible dad as well, Alexander,” Lucian said, his voice remaining soft as he spoke. His hand moved to rest on top of Alexander’s when he brought his hand to cup his cheek. “Thank you.” He replied sincerely. It meant a lot to him to hear Alexander say that. “I’m happy to hear that,” Lucian said with a gentle smile tugging at the corner of his lips when Alexander told him that he’d always wanted that life with him.
There was just something so utterly domestic about promising Alexander to teach him how to cook his remedy soup. He enjoyed it quite a bit, actually. “Some people are just — past saving, I suppose. It can’t be helped.” Lucian knew that all too well, he had seen many supernatural creatures fall because they couldn’t control their instincts and had already succumbed to that darkness within them. “I hope so,” Lucian said with a softened smile tugging at his features. He was quiet as Alexander explained the situation with the kids, nodding his head slowly as he scooped some soup onto his spoon. “Oh my, talk about trauma.” Lucian frowned slightly, the edges of his lips tugged down into a small frown. “Oh, that’s an understatement of the year, I’m afraid,” Lucian replied when Alexander said that they had been dealt an awful hand in life. “In this case, I will help with this. For kids like them, they definitely need help as soon as possible.”
“It’s quite alright, my dear. I managed to overcome the struggle. They do say that this kind of stuff builds character, after all.” Lucian said with a half-smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “Oh, I have. We’re like two peas in a pod now.” Lucian revealed a moment later with a chuckle falling from his lips not long after. “Thank you, Alexander.” He replied when Alexander told him that he was proud of him for helping. “Oh, the universe definitely has a unique way of pushing people together.” Lucian looked down at the ring on his finger as he said that, a chuckle escaping his lips not long after.
“You can move in with me. My bed is big enough for two.” Lucian revealed with a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “And my wardrobe is also big enough to fit your clothes in it, too,” Lucian added a moment later as he continued tasting the soup he’d made. It certainly did help with the throbbing headache.

“I knew it,” Alec chuckled as Lucian confirmed that he couldn’t deny that he loved it. Alec knew that he was being cheeky but he hadn’t been able to resist and the truth was that he didn’t regret it. He and Lucian had always been able to be like this around each other and that hadn’t changed during the time they had been apart. Alec really did wish that he remembered what had happened the night before but he knew that he just had to trust that those memories would come back in time. He didn’t know whether Lucian had said anything wise the night before but time would tell. Looking around them, Alec felt a smile touch his lips. “It isn’t bad though, it looks like we had fun,” he grinned. The bedroom was a mess and Alec could see their clothes strewn over the floor but the truth was that he wouldn’t change a thing. “You’re welcome,” he said, offering Lucian a smile as he thanked him. Alec couldn’t believe the way things had worked out, he hadn’t thought that he would end up getting married anytime soon because the truth was the only person he had ever thought about marrying was Lucian. Alec had known that he could have settled down and found a way to be happy but he would have only been fooling himself. He had loved others but there had only ever been one person who had truly captured his heart and that was Lucian. “Thank you. We might not have had the best role models while we were growing up but we’ll figure it out together,” he assured him. Alec knew that he wanted things to be different when they started a family of their own, they weren’t going to make the same mistakes that their parents had made. As Lucian thanked him, Alec felt a smile touch his lips. “Of course. You know I’ve always got your back.” That was the way it had always been and he knew that it was never going to change. “It’s not just that, some people don’t want to be saved,” Alec shrugged. “Some are happy giving in to the darkness.” He and Lucian had always tried to live their lives well and he liked to think that they had done a pretty good job of that but not everyone was like them, there were always going to be those out there who wanted to hurt people and it was those that Alec stood against. Alec felt a smile touch his lips as Lucian said he hoped he would get some answers. Alec had wanted that for such a long time and now he wanted to make the most of the chance he had been given. “Definitely. They’re still better off now than they were before because apparently their time in foster care wasn’t pleasant but we can show them that not everyone is like that.” They could only do that if Raf and Landon let them but Alec honestly hoped they would. “That’s very true and you have plenty of character,” Alec admitted, a fond smile touching his lips as he looked over at Lucian. He always had done but Alec could see the way that he had really come into his own during the time they had been apart and he was proud of him for that. “You think so,” he asked, his smile turning to one of amusement as Lucian said they were like two peas in a pod now. “You don’t need to thank me, it’s the truth,” Alec assured him. He really was proud of the person that Lucian had become and nothing was going to change that. “You’re right about that. I like Mystic Falls so far though, if there’s anywhere that this was going to happen I’m glad it was here. I think we’ll be happy here,” he nodded. Life had definitely thrown them back together again but that really wasn’t a bad thing. The living arrangements were something that Alec hadn’t really thought too much about but as the thought did come to mine he knew that he had to ask the question. “It’s definitely big enough for both of us, we found that out this morning,” Alec chuckled. Truth be told he had been quite comfortable and it was something he knew that he could definitely get used to. As Lucian spoke again, Alec’s expression softened. “Thank you,” he said sincerely. “You don’t need to worry about me having too much stuff though, I tend to travel light,” he admitted, knowing that the last thing he wanted to do was take over Lucian’s space too much when Lucian had already been generous enough to ask him to move in. ━ if you bled, I'll bleed the same. if you're scared, I'm on my way ━
Lucian felt a chuckle leave his lips at Alexander's words. "You're certainly not wrong about that." It definitely looked like they had enjoyed themselves and their drinks yesterday. Lucian released a small hum as he listened to the other, nodding his head in an understanding manner. "We aren't our parents, after all." Lucian didn't struggle for long to accept that his parents were gone for good. He never actually missed them after they were gone because he had already missed them enough while they were alive.
"And I've got yours, Alexander," Lucian said a moment later with a nod of his head following, his lips stretching to form a sincere smile. He nodded his head as he listened to Alexander, his lips parting to let out a small sigh. "Unfortunately." It was definitely an unfortunate thing, but everyone chooses how they wish to spend their lives and some make the decision to embrace the darkness unashamedly. "Yes, of course." It was up to them to show the kids that not everyone is so evil.
Lucian's lips stretched to form a soft smile at Alexander's words. "Oh, quite charming, aren't you?" He said with a chuckle falling from his lips not long after. "I like Mystic Falls too, actually. It's surely not all rainbow and sunshine, but I can't say it's not charming."
“That we have,” Lucian said with a chuckle falling from his lips not long after. “Very well, then. You can fill it up whenever you’d like to.” He added with a shrug of his shoulders following. He wasn’t exactly particular about that kind of stuff. He’d definitely love for Alexander to make this apartment his home, too. “Let me know when you plan to move your things over. I’ll help.” Lucian said with a nod of his head following.

“Perhaps we can have some more fun later,” Alec said, a smile touching his lips as he looked over at Lucian. He still couldn’t remember what had happened the night before but he knew that he wanted to make some special memories with Lucian that they would be able to remember especially now that they had decided to stay married. He had half expected Lucian to want an annulment but he didn’t and Alec was beyond glad about that. “You’re right about that. We’re not like them and we have each other to make sure that we don’t end up that way.” They had always looked out for each other and Alec was certain that wasn’t going to change. As Lucian said that he had his back as well, Alec felt a smile touch his lips. “I know, you always have done,” he nodded. They had been through so much both together and apart but in the end they always found their way back to each other and this time they weren’t going to be separated again. Alec would have Lucian’s back and Lucian would have his in return which Alec knew was just as it should be. Nodding as Lucian agreed with him, Alec knew that it was a hard truth that not everyone wanted to be saved but he had learned that a long time ago and he wouldn’t be surprised if Lucian had as well. The kids Evangeline had told him about were different, they were still so young and Alec knew that they needed someone in their corner and now he and Lucian could be that for them if they would let them. “I think we got here at the right time, from what my friend told me they both go to a school for the supernatural and the term is ending so we’ll have the whole summer to help them if they’ll let us.” Alec knew that accepting help wasn’t always easy but his heart really did go out to the two boys so he hoped that they would give them a chance. “I try,” Alec grinned as Lucian said that he was charming. “Besides, I have to give you a run for your money,” he added with a laugh before nodding as Lucian spoke about Mystic Falls. “It definitely has an appeal to it aside from the fact that it attracts lots of people like us to it. It seems like a nice place to live.” He hadn’t been in town for long but he had a good feeling about it, even more so now that Lucian was back in his life. Alec’s smile returned at the sound of Lucian’s laugh and he nodded as Lucian said that he could fill up the wardrobe whenever he liked. “Thank you,” he said sincerely. It had been a long time since he’d last lived with someone but the truth was that he was looking forward to building a life with Lucian. As he asked when he planned on moving his things over, Alec’s expression turned thoughtful for a moment. “I actually have today off if you don’t think it’s too soon or have anything planned,” he admitted, knowing that there was no time like the present if Lucian was up for it. ━ if you bled, I'll bleed the same. if you're scared, I'm on my way ━
Lucian felt a small smile tug at the corner of his lips when Alexander suggested that they can have some fun later. "I would like that." Lucian replied with gentleness to the tone of his voice. "We can have all sorts of fun later." He added a moment later, not minding the idea at all. If anything, it sounded fun. "Exactly." Lucian agreed with a nod of his head following. He had already been making enough progress to assure himself that he was never going down that path.
Lucian sent Alexander a gentle smile as he nodded his head a few times. He knew that out of everyone, he could count on Alexander the most. Lucian released a small hum as he listened to Alexander, nodding his head slowly to let the other know that he was still listening. "That's great. Enough time to help them if they allow us to." Lucian said with a nod of his head following. He hoped that they would accept their help, but he knew that some didn't accept help easily. They understandably didn't have enough trust to allow something like that to happen. It was just up to them to ensure the boys that they are only here to help and that they don't mean any sort of harm.
Lucian let out a chuckle at Alexander's words. "I don't mind that in the slightest." He said with a grin tugging at the corner of his lips already. "Oh, I've noticed that as well. It certainly has a pull to it. I have met a few supernaturals already." There was something about the town that seemed to draw the supernatural beings to it and Lucian was definitely curious about it.
"There is no time like the present." Lucian said with a half-smile tugging at the corner of his lips as he pushed himself a moment later. "In that case, I will go get dressed." Lucian took the time to clean up the dishes first before he began making his way over to his bedroom to abandon his silk robe and pants to have a much-needed shower to wash away the stench of alcohol off his skin. Once he was done, he got dressed fairly quickly. "I'm ready to go if you are." Lucian said with a half-smile once he was done and ready to leave.
