A Christmas fucking meal and they couldn’t even be arsed to hire somewhere fancy. Instead, they told their employees to head to the Grill, where food and drinks would be covered, to an extent of course. He wasn’t going to take liberties with the drinks, but he was prepared to drain that tab dry before anyone else could. This meant turning up at this Grill early, chaining his bike up outside so he could cycle home later drunk and order as many shots as his stomach could take. Christmas in the Parker household had always been chaotic from the moment the sun rose on Christmas day morning. The kids would be running around the house, screaming with excitement as they headed towards the tree to grab their gifts. Ripping them open, with a huge smile plastered across their face. All of it was very magical when Tobi was younger, but once Kai went on his rampage there were only a few of them left behind. He could see from the other side that the festive period just wasn’t the same for his family and it stayed that way for 20 years. Until they were brought back. Excitement now seeped through the household from 1st December onwards. It wasn’t about the exchanging of gifts anymore, which Tobi was ecstatic about having only a few dollars rattling around in his pocket. It was a time to celebrate the fact they had all been brought back together after being apart for two decades. Half the family were dead, buried in the ground. Last year was emotional for everyone. Their first Christmas back together. Even Tobi shed a few tears as they all gathered around the tree that morning. Surrounded by his family after being on the other side for so long. Invisible and unheard. Along with the smiles, there was a feeling of concern that rippled through the family. Kai was out there somewhere and needed to be stopped. Tobi was keen to put that to rest this holiday. Focus on what Christmas was supposed to be about. Drinking, food and playing stupid board games. Tobi glided through the streets of Mystic Falls on his bike. His body was already feeling warm from the few shots of whiskey he did before leaving. One hand on the handlebar and the other holding a cigarette. He brought the cigarette to his lips, deeply inhaling as he pulled into the car park by the Grill. Smoke seeped out the corner of his mouth as he climbed off his bicycle, fumbling around to secure the lock. Once it clicked into place he raised his left hand, hovering over the padlock, “Vis porta” He muttered quietly, ensuring the chain couldn’t be broken free. He lingered outside the building, finishing off his cigarette before he tossed it in a trash can outside and headed into the Grill. They had a table reserved somewhere near the back, apparently. Tobi wasn’t really paying attention to the whole talk about the Christmas meal, but his ears switched on when they mentioned free food and drink. He politely accepted the invitation, announcing he would be there at 8 pm sharp. It was 7:30 pm and he was keen to slam a few shots before anyone else arrived. Tobi headed straight for the bar, not taking a minute to scan the area to see where their table was. That could wait. He approached the bar with a smile on his face, placing his hands down on the surface with a quiet tap. An employee glanced over at him, “Hello there. Can I have three shots of tequila and one double vodka coke…” The bartender was about to move away, “Actually make that four shots of tequila and it can go on a tab as well. I’m here with everyone from the Coffee Bean” He flashed the bartender another encaustic smile before she turned away to get his drink. EVELYN MONET

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
THE dream job that Evelyn had in mind didn't exactly involve working at a local coffee shop in a small town in Virginia, and yet, that's exactly what she was doing. Sure, she had her college degree, but with everything going on with her father and his little spies, she didn't exactly have the time or energy to do something full-time or even in her field. Ever since her father had shown back up in her life, her priorities had changed and damn did they change drastically. Instead of building a life for herself, one full of everything she ever wanted out of life, she was living a life full of fear and paranoia. Where ever she went, she was constantly looking over her shoulder, fully expecting to see one of her father's spies hiding in the shadows, just watching her.
It terrified her to no end and she feared that soon enough he would show back up and do what he had always threatened to do: force her to join his sinister crusade and if she didn't do as he said, he would take her magic. Neither scenario sounded appealing to her, but she knew the type of person her father was, how determined he was to get his way no matter the cost - hurting his only child was something he wasn't above doing. Which terrified her the absolute most, because she knew if he wasn't above hurting or even killing his only daughter, then that meant he wasn't above doing anything else to get his way.
Despite the looming doom that hung over her head, Evelyn couldn't let that consume her life. She had to try and live her life the best she could. Thankfully she had made a few friends in this town, supernatural friends at that. Something her father probably wasn't counting on was her having a literal angel on her side, ready to help her out at any given moment. Cas was there when she needed him, all she had to do was pray and he would appear, he had made her that promise the night of the glow party and that brought her comfort she hadn't known she needed. To have backup, a savior, at her side within a moments notice was all the reassurance she needed.
Thankfully ever since that night they had attacked her and Cas, they had remained hidden and out of sight, none of them had tried that again since Cas had made himself known to them, it seemed like seeing a literal angel had been something they hadn't been expecting and couldn't account for, so they stayed away. Smart move on their part. And while she hated being a damsel in distress, she knew when she needed help and having Cas on her side made asking for help a little bit easier.
Nonetheless, it was the night of her work's annual Christmas party. Instead of having the party at a fancy restaurant, they opted to hold it at The Grill, telling all their employees that dinner and drinks alike were on them and wished them all a Merry Christmas. Free drinks? No one had to tell her twice, she would be there. The 'party' technically started at 8PM, but she got there a bit early. It wasn't like she had much else to do and she needed a drink... or several. Arriving at the place, Evelyn headed straight for the bar and as she did so she saw one of her coworkers, Tobi, who had ordered four shots and a drink. Seems like she wasn't the only one who needed something to drink.
As she approached the bar she watched the bartender place the shots and drink down in front of Tobi and she didn't hesitate to grab one of the shots and down in right off the bat as she turned to look at Tobi. "Seems like we're the first two here." She said as she leaned up against the bar, looking over at her coworker. It was then when the bartender came over to her and asked for her drink order. "Can I get a double vodka cran please." She said, knowing full and well she was going to need a few drinks to get through this so called holiday party. "So you decided to actually show up, huh? Then again, free drinks were offered so I can't say I'm all that surprised." She teased, a smirk written across her lips. Tobi wasn't the type of guy she pegged for company holiday parties. Then again, they did mention the word free and drinks together in the same sentence, so it made sense why he was here and why she was sure others would show up too. Hell, it was one of the only reasons she had shown up too.

Luckily his parents didn’t throw all his belongings in the trash after a number of years. They kept hold of most of it, even trawling it back to Mystic Falls. There was always a glimmer of hope in there that one day they could bring their children back. His clothes had spent nearly twenty years folded up in a cardboard box. Needless they say they carried an interesting smell when he finally got to pull them out. Blowing the dust off his collection of CD’s and countless movie posters that once decorated the walls in his bedroom. He dug through the depths of his wardrobe that evening trying to find anything that screamed Christmas, finally settling on a red shirt and a festive knitted waistcoat. All that was missing was a trail of tinsel to be wrapped around his neck. He already spotted some hanging off the tree in the Grill. Few more drinks and the tinsel would be coming home with him. Flapping in the air as he cycled home, possibly singing Christmas songs. The Grill was as depressing as ever. Quiet music pumped through the place, as the smell of steak and fries filled the air. Granted, it wasn’t all that bad, but it was a place he had grown bored of. Same people, same food, same mid-week deals. But he was determined to have a good evening. It was Christmas after all. Plus the place had a few decorations pinned up to add to the festive feeling. Meanwhile, his home was lit up like Santa's grotto with the electricity bill rocketing every night when his dad flicked the lights on. 1st December Tobi stood out the front with his sunglasses on waiting for his parents to do their big reveal and show off the lights to their children. So much for being inconspicuous and settling into a quiet life in the neighbourhood. Tobi rocked back and forth on his feet, waiting for the bartender to deliver the drinks. Shots first. Before his hand had even reached up for one of the glasses another hand darted towards one of the shots. “Without the salt and lime?” He exclaimed as he watched her knock it back, “You're a wild one Monet” He shook his head in disapproval as he grabbed the salt off the bar. He pressed his tongue against the back of his hand, carelessly sprinkling the salt on top. Possibly too much as some of it tumbled down and onto the floor. “What can I say? I’m a punctual person” Except he was late to work every single day. Whether it be a few minutes or ten minutes. He had yet to make it through the door bang on time, but who knows. It could be a new year's resolution for him. He grabbed the remaining shots, knocking them back one by one. A shudder ran through his body as he reached for the lime wedge provided by the bartender. He forced the wedge between his teeth, as his other drink was placed down in front of him. “Yeah, the free drinks are the main reason I’m here, but also I’m looking forward to socializing with the Coffee Bean gang away from the hell hole” Despite the sarcastic undertone he was looking forward to blowing off some steam with the work crew. Sometimes they made the long boring days bearable. EVELYN MONET

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
IT probably wasn't the best idea for Evelyn to be out at a work party let alone drinking. With everything going on in her life she had to be on guard at all times, no matter what or where she was. It was just part of her life now, to always have to look over her shoulder. It was utterly exhausting, to never truly be at peace and her father was to blame for that. He made her life exhausting, made it a complete and utter living hell. Why did he even want her to join him and his sadistic crusade? What made her so damn special? Fuck, she didn't know. Evelyn was nothing more than an ordinary witch born into ordinary circumstances. What more could her father want with her that would give him more than what he already had? Was he after her or was he after the power she had? Is that what he wanted? More power? Didn't he already have enough? Would he ever be satisfied with what he had? Evelyn knew the answer to that rhetorical question to herself.
No. No he would not and it was unlikely that he ever would.
But despite the fact that her life was in complete shambles, Evelyn was determined to have a good time tonight with her co-workers. The owners of the Coffee Bean had been generous enough to cover their bar tab for the night and so she was planning on taking full advantage of that sentiment. They did say for them to order whatever and however much they wanted, so that was on them for the bill they would be receiving at the end of the night. Regardless, Evelyn knew she needed to be cautious as the last time she had drank too much her father's spies had ambushed her, thankfully she was with Cas, but that didn't stop the event from transpiring. After that night she knew she needed to be more careful, but she couldn't live her life in complete fear. At some point she had to relax and live as normal of a life as she could muster and that included spending some time with her co-workers.
'Without the salt and lime? You're a wild one Monet.' Tobi said to her as she had downed one of the many shots he had ordered. Evelyn laughed as she set the shot glass down onto the bar counter, wiping her mouth as she did show. "What can I say, I like the taste of tequila." She said with a shrug, a grin spread across her lips as she did so. The taste of the tequila running down her throat was almost comforting. She embraced the burn it provided her and she would enjoy even more as the night went on, that and some fries. Evelyn was starving as she hadn't really eaten much all day and if she were gonna be drinking, she would definitely need something in her stomach because tequila.
'What can I say? I’m a punctual person.' Tobi's next words made her literally laugh out loud, he couldn't be serious. "That's a damn lie and you know it Tobi Parker." She said with a chuckle, amusement written across her features at his statement. Tobi was quite literally the least punctual person she had ever met, especially on staff. She couldn't even count the times she had to stay over because he was running late, not that she minded because she needed the money, but still. Not to mention the fact that one of her biggest fears in life was being late, it didn't matter to where or what. She hated being late, if she could help it she would be at least fifteen minutes early if not earlier to any given location. Better to be early than late.
It was then when she watched Tobi grab the remaining shots he had ordered and knocked them back one by one. Evelyn's eyes widened slightly, "Rough day?" She asked as she turned to look at the bartender, "I'm also on the Coffee Bean's tab. I'll have a vodka cranberry and an order of cheese fries please." She said before turning back to look at Tobi who explained how the free drinks and chance to socialize outside of work were the main reasons he had even bothered to show up in the first place. "Yeah, it is nice to be able to hang out with everyone outside of work. I love everyone we work with so it'll be a fun night for sure. Not to mention the fact that I need to blow off some steam..." She said, almost mumbling the last bit of her sentence, but god was it true. If she were being honest she probably needed a damn vacation with everything she had been through, but for tonight, she would settle for a Christmas party with her co-workers.

He was ready to grab life and squeeze every last second out of it this time around, but sometimes he used that excuse to be reckless. Drinking until he could barely hold a conversation, staying out until the early hours of the morning or smoking until he felt like he was in a bubble. It was difficult for his parents to have any kind of discipline over him, too busy being crushed by the guilt that it was partially their fault Tobi died. He hadn’t been cruel enough to wave it as an argument around the house, yet. It was just an unspoken truth that floated around them constantly, allowing those reins to loosen slightly. Leaving Tobi to deal with his trauma by living life in the fast lane. It would come crashing down soon enough. Perhaps seeing Kai again would be enough to pry open that box of emotions lying deep inside. Let everything come flooding out, a tsunami of rage and betrayal. For now, he was determined not to let his exterior crack. A front that was solidified with alcohol. Tequila. His first choice of drink for the evening. Starting off strong, with Evelyn by his side throwing one back too. He shook his head, with a look of disapproval. A lime in his mouth, showing that it wasn’t an enjoyable taste. “Said no one ever” It was there to serve a purpose. To get Tobi to that level of merry drunk, the cocktails and spirit mixers were there to push him over the edge. Luckily there was no social edge that needed to be blurred for him, happy to launch straight into conversation with Evelyn. Tobi threw his hands up in mock defence, “What? I’m always on time, especially when I’m opening the store on a Saturday morning” He acted shocked before breaking into a light chuckle, “I run on Tobi time which is usually five minutes behind everyone else…” The type of person you’d say would be late to their own funeral. He wasn’t, he was early for his funeral, eager to see who actually turned up. His poor parents had to attend not one for four funerals. He didn’t stick around for too long though, he couldn’t bear to see the pain his family were in. “The truth is, there’s no hurry in me” He admitted with a shrug. Even when there was a queue going out the door at the Coffee Bean Tobi was still moving at his own pace. He wasn’t going to break into a sweat trying to get people their hot beverages. He didn’t get paid enough to sweat at work. He pondered for a moment, trying to recall his day. “Long day” He placed the glass back down on the bar, reaching for his other drink, “I’m not in til late tomorrow so I can get white girl wasted tonight” The hangover was a problem for future Tobi. “Oh, can I grab some mozzarella sticks and dip please” He spoke to the bartender, catching him just before he walked away. “Blow off some steam?” He sipped his drink, as he winged a brow at Evelyn. Before he had a chance to probe further their number was placed on the bar for their food order. His eyes quickly scanned the area as he grabbed the number off the bar, “I’m pretty sure our table is over there” He nodded towards the corner of the grill. With his drink in hand, sipping it as he walked through the grill towards their table. “So… blow off steam? Boy problems” He inquired as soon as they sat down, leaning forward slightly as he was ready to absorb whatever gossip Evelyn was going to tell him. EVELYN MONET

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
LIVING her life was the only thing she could do at this point. Evelyn knew that she couldn't live her life in constant fear, but with the psychopath she called a father, it was highly unlikely that would ever happen, not until he was as good as dead. That would be the only time she would ever truly find peace, the only time she would ever allow herself to feel at peace. Would that time ever come? She didn't think so, which was down right depressing. But that was just the life she had to live. Some part of her had to hold on to hope, that the day would come where her father would be long gone and she could live her life in peace, be able to be like any other mid-twenty-year old. Maybe she would even go back to school, get her graduate degree. That had always been the goal, but when what happened in New York happened... that goal, along with most others, went down the drain. All she could focus on was getting stronger and getting rid of her father once and for all. There would come a time when her father would arrive in Mystic Falls and when that time eventually came... she would be ready for him.
She had to be.
For tonight though, she would enjoy herself and hearing Tobi try and defend himself made her laugh. "You definitely run on Tobi time." This was nice, to be able to cut loose with her co-workers. They didn't get many chances to do so and with everything going on in her life with her father and his band of merry men... she didn't have time to socialize like she wanted to. She was on constant alert ever since fleeing New York. That most definitely did not help her paranoia in any way. And maybe that's what her father wanted? To make her suffer, to make her feel tiny, unimportant... crazy. Whatever he could do to wear her down until there was nothing left. That was the last thing she ever wanted. She didn't want her father to win, he couldn't win. For the sake of everyone in this town, William Monet could not win.
'Long day. I’m not in til late tomorrow so I can get white girl wasted tonight,' Toby said, making her laugh. "White girl wasted, huh?" She retorted teasingly as he ordered some mozzarella sticks and dip from the bartender. "Oh that sounds good, make it a double batch!" She said to the bartender as she turned back towards Tobi who then asked her if she were just blowing off some steam. But before he could ask her anything further, the bartender placed a number onto the bar for their food. 'I’m pretty sure our table is over there,' Tobi said as he headed toward their staff table. Evelyn grabbed her drink and followed closely behind before sliding into the booth opposite from Tobi. He nodded towards the corner of the grill. With his drink in hand, sipping it as he walked through the grill towards their table.
'So… blow off steam? Boy problems.' And there came the additional questions. Evelyn laughed as she took a sip out of her drink. "More like family problems." She replied, although Tobi would have no clue as to how many family problems she truly had. More than the normal person did and certainly more intense. No one truly would understand her life, what she had to go through at the hands of her deranged, power-hungry, father. William Monet was a terror in her life, the bane of her existence. Evelyn would never truly know peace or comfort as long as she was at the mercy of him. Everything in her life would always revolve around her father, until one day... it didn't.

There was something about the Christmas spirit in the air that filled him with instant joy. The time of year that was packed with happiness and drinking, even on Christmas day. Although he made a promise to himself this year to slow down on the glasses of prosecco, knowing full well he’d fall asleep in his dinner. It was times like this he was grateful for his huge family. The special day was always a magical one, even since he was a kid. He nodded proudly as Evelyn told him he ran on Tobi time, with a goofy smile on his face. Even when he was younger he was a bit slow in doing everything. The coven hated it. He never much liked the other members of the coven. The weird families his parents had picked up over the years, but he acknowledged it was sad they died because of their relation to the Parker family. It was even sadder that no one was rushing to get them back from the other side. White girl wasted was the phrase, right? At least that’s what he’d overheard the other staff at Coffee Bean saying when they described their weekend. Tobi was trying to learn all the lingo used by teens nowadays, so he didn’t look out of place. As Ethan kindly pointed out he drank old man beer and dressed like someone out of an early 2000s movie. He brushed that off as his ‘aesthetic’, whatever the fuck that meant. Just another term he’d pick up from his colleagues. “I’m gonna dance with people I shouldn’t dance with, drink anything with a percentage and who knows I might even text my ex.” The last part was laughable given all his exes were now pushing forty and presumed Tobi Parker was dead. He watched from the other side as they mourned him and cried at his funeral. It was comforting to see people turn up at his funeral. If he tried to contact his old friends now they’d probably call the cops, claiming he was some lunatic. Tobi settled into the booth, his stomach yearning for those mozzarella sticks. Yes, he was planning on getting trashed but he was naive enough to do that on an empty stomach. Need something in there to line it even if it was stringy cheese covered in batter. “Ugh, even worse.” At least you could cut a lover out of your life. It was more difficult to do that with your family. “Well, if you ever need someone to talk to, I’m your guy.” He pointed proudly to himself, that silly smile on his face again, “Or even a drinking partner to drink anyway your troubles.” Again, he tapped his chest lightly before letting his hand fall. He was an ideal candidate to relate to family problems. His brother was a psychopath whose main goal in life is to eradicate the family. The waitress approached the end of the table, placing the mozzarella sticks down. One in front of Tobi, one in front of Evelyn. As soon as the basket hit the table he reached forward grabbing one, pushing it into the dip and quickly into his mouth. He nodded to himself, confirmation that the food was what he needed. He washed it down with his drink, “What are your plans tonight then? Are you gonna come and kiss strangers with me at Campbell’s bar later? Or do you have a partner or something?” It dawned on him that he didn’t actually know a whole lot about Evelyn, apart from the fact she wasn’t from Mystic Falls. EVELYN MONET

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN wished she could be as care free as Tobi was at the moment, and while the alcohol was helping to some extent, it didn't take away the immense fear she felt. At this very moment her father could have some of his men watching her every move, or worse, her father could be watching her every move. Which would be way worse than any of his men watching her. She would never know peace, not when her father was still alive and breathing. It didn't matter what she did, didn't matter what cloaking spell she cast, he would always find her. He had made sure of it and after all, he'd promised her just that when she had fled New York the first time. No matter what, her father would always be there, lurking in the shadows. Would she ever truly be able to enjoy a night like tonight? No, probably not. It's why she was so damn paranoid all the damn time, and why on quite a few occasions, she found herself sitting at the bar.
'I’m gonna dance with people I shouldn’t dance with, drink anything with a percentage and who knows I might even text my ex.' Evelyn chuckled at Tobi's drunken statement as she took a sip out of the beer she had ordered. "Sounds like you got quite the night planned for yourself." Whereas she would not be doing any of those things. While Evelyn wanted to drink her problems away, she knew she couldn't get too terribly drunk in fear of what may happen. It had happened before when she was with Cas. Like some damn damsel in distress needing to always be saved. It was sickening. But that was where she was at with everything that was going on in her life. Not only that, but here lately, she had been having some issues with her magic, like some sort of a mental block. Which, with what she was going through at the moment... was not good by any means.
Evelyn sighed as she sank into the booth, melting into the fake leather. 'Well, if you ever need someone to talk to, I’m your guy. Or even a drinking partner to drink anyway your troubles.' She definitely needed all of the above. "Both, definitely both." She said as she downed one of the many shots that Tobi had ordered earlier. Yup, she was gonna get drunker than she needed to be. Good thing she had Cas's number on speed dial because it seemed that she would probably need his angel-self to take her ass home later. Evelyn wouldn't have ever expected she would have a guardian angel, and yet, that's exactly what she had and she couldn't say she wasn't grateful because she was and so much more.
Finally, the waitress had approached their table, setting trays of mozzarella sticks down. One in front of each of them. Oh thank god, she thought as she began to dig into the cheesy goodness. God she was hungry. Evelyn chewed on the mozzarella stick as Tobi spoke and she shrugged. "Don't really have plans after this. Maybe go home and crash, the job is really taking a lot out of me, ya know?" She said with a wink, clearly being sarcastic as the job she had was as easy as they came. Easier than most of her previous jobs were. Not to mention that it made her feel normal and not like some outsider. At the mention of a partner or something she shook her head. "Nope, no one like that. I'm a looooooner." She chuckled, although it was strained because it wasn't like she wanted to always be alone, but the last thing she needed was to drag someone else she cared about into her messy ass life. She wouldn't risk losing another person she cared for, no way in hell. The guilt from losing Savannah was already eating her alive, she didn't need to add to it. "What about you? Anyone tied down the infamous Tobi Parker?" She questioned, trying her damnest to shift the attention onto him instead of on her.

It wasn’t the second lease of life which pushed him to live life to the full extent. Tobi had always been a glass half full type of guy even before he died. Only recently it had been dipping toward being half empty as he realised his parents had no idea how to find Kai. All their attempts had failed so far, leaving the family with a target on their back. Despite the worry that was building inside of him he kept a dopey smile on his face at all times. He was the one who was trying to reassure his siblings that everything was going to be okay, even if he wasn’t too sure about that himself. In true Tobi style though the best way to ignore his problems was to drink through them. “That’s what Christmas parties are all about. I want to be hot gossip in the Coffee Bean tomorrow morning.” If only he was allowed to dance on the bar in the club. He tried to climb on the bar there once and swiftly got kicked out. To no surprise, Ethan was being kicked out as well for getting into a scuffle with another customer. The pair giggled like school children as they wandered off towards the park to carry on drinking and smoking. Tobi offered Evelyn a warm smile when she said she needed someone to drink with and to talk to. “I’m just a phone call away to help with both of those things.” Despite the comments that rolled out of his mouth sometimes he did care about his colleagues. Well, some of them. Management, not so much. He was praying to God that none of them showed up at the Christmas gathering otherwise he would spend his evening convincing himself they were watching him. Monitoring his behaviour like a little kid. Plus he’d probably end up offending one of them after a few too many shots. Go home and crash.. Tobi scoffed, rolling his eyes as he did so. “No crashing tonight. At least not until the early hours of the morning or until you find yourself a suitor… whichever comes first.” He flashed a wink back at her. He wasn’t exactly going to head home with a man hanging off his arm though, considering he was still under his parent’s roof. “There’s nothing wrong with being a loner.” He insisted as he reached for more food, “You gotta love yourself before anyone else can love you… at least that’s what I read on a poster once.” He rammed the food into his food, chewing aggressively as he shook his head. He swallowed the food, now reaching for his drink to wash it down. “No way. I ain’t settling down until I’m like… maybe thirty.” He couldn’t even picture it. Committing to just one person for the rest of his life. The pair living in some cute two bedroom apartment with a dog or something. It was a foreign concept. EVELYN MONET - wrap up with yours?

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN laughed, nodding in agreement. "Yes, that is most definitely what Christmas parties are all about. Hot gossip and lots and lots of booze." It was what every party she had ever been to was like. None of her family parties, however, had been even remotely the same. Every single party her family through was formal, too formal for her liking. She had to be proper and use every single manner in the book. There was no laughing at her family's parties, nothing like this anyways. Everyone was just too scared of her father to make any jokes, or to laugh in general. Her father used their family parties as work meetings, so the majority of the time he and his fellow employees were in the back rooms, doing god knows what. She was never allowed anywhere near that back room, nor would she ever want to be anywhere near it. Even back then, she could tell her father was full of darkness, something she wanted absolutely no part of. Still didn't.
No matter what, Evelyn would not turn to the dark side (no matter how cliche and corny that sounded). She wouldn't let her father turn her magic into something so dark and twisted like his had become. No way in hell, she would die first.
'I’m just a phone call away to help with both of those things.' Evelyn smiled warmly at Tobi's offer. "Thanks Tobi, I may have to take you up on that offer sometime." Be careful what you wished for, but she needed someone to talk to, especially lately and Cas and Andy were both MIA at the moment so her options were running low. But even then, she wouldn't drag him into her mess. The last thing she needed was her father intervening and hurting one of her normal friends. He would do whatever it took to get to her, even if that meant taking away every single person she ever cared for. Something she couldn't let happen... no matter what.
'No crashing tonight. At least not until the early hours of the morning or until you find yourself a suitor… whichever comes first.' Another laugh escaped her lips. Evelyn didn't know if it was the booze laughing or actually her. Either way, it felt good to laugh, she hadn't done it in a while now. "It's too early for that! The night is still young." Young-ish, it was actually getting late but she wasn't a quitter and with being as many shots as she was in... it wasn't going to be bedtime any soon and quite honestly, she hoped she found someone to take home, or for her to be taken home. Reckless? Perhaps, but when she had that much liquor flowing through her system, she really didn't care too much about risk.
'There’s nothing wrong with being a loner. You gotta love yourself before anyone else can love you… at least that’s what I read on a poster once.' Evelyn raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Didn't know I was in a therapy session," she teased as she shoved another mozzarella stick into her mouth. "That poster sounds real cheesy." A poster she wanted to set on fire or throw away, whichever came first. Evelyn hated those inspirational posters, they were loads of bullshit. Too optimistic for her taste, then again, with the life she'd lived, there wasn't much room for optimism.
A few more hours and a shit ton of drinks later and it was safe to say that Evelyn was ready to head home and pass the hell out. She knew she would regret drinking this much, but for once, she was glad to let go and just have fun with normal people. People who didn't know the shit she had experienced, what she was currently going through. Tobi and her bonded though, tonight had been proof enough of that. After tonight, she considered Tobi more than just a co-worker, she also considered him her friend. One thing was for sure, the two of them would have to hangout more often, and not just at work. "Well, my uber is here Tobs. I'll see you tomorrow, gotta hear about alllll that gosssssip. Laaaaaater!" She exclaimed, giving him a drunken wave goodbye before heading outside the door of the place and into the uber, heading straight home and into her nice, warm bed.
She definitely was going to have a hangover tomorrow.
