The bar had been cleaned the best it could, but the carpets would have to wait until the following weekend to be replaced. The blood was impossible to clean out, and he didn’t have the time or patience to try properly. He’d rather part with a cheque and have brand new carpet. He wasn’t about to get on his hands and knees to scrub at something. Hector had calmed down a lot since that morning, but he still wanted answers from the other staff about what the hell happened the previous night. Finally the other two answered their phones after Hector spent the whole day calling. He demanded they come to the bar immediately for a meeting. He didn’t care if they’d just woken up or were otherwise engaged as he reminded them both it wasn’t a request, it was an order. Lawrence was already sitting at the bar awaiting the arrival of Hannya and Lincoln as Hector was wandering around the bar, inspecting. He bent down, picking up another shard of glass. Lips parted as he was about to mention how expensive his shoes were, and so help them if he finds a piece of glass in the sole, when the door swung open. “Is there any reason you two haven’t been answering your phones all day?” He gestured towards the bar stools, “Actually I don’t care… sit down” He drew his hand up, pinching the bridge of his nose as he took a deep breath before letting it fall again, “Can someone please explain to me why I’m currently standing on a soggy carpet that is holding enough blood to keep an elephant alive… what the fuck happened last night?” The angry that has disappeared throughout the day had started to bubble up inside of him again, “And don’t bullshit me otherwise I’ll remove your organs with a blunt knife” HANNYA / LAWRENCE MURPHY / LINCOLN CROWNE

━ make you beg for it, plead for it, until you feel like you breathe for it ━ IT WAS HARD TO answer your phone when you weren’t even in your body. She knocked Dolly out cold before lingering in her smoke form around Mystic Falls, finding it easier to collect information that way. It felt good to leave the club for once. She didn’t have the need to eat or sleep, so there was no reason for her to leave most of the time. Well, until Joel came to town, of course. Now, Hannya had a plethora of reasons to venture out━namely following that little wife of his around.
She was boring, to say the least. Work, home, work, home. Usually, they came back late enough to completely avoid each other. Poor little Joely-baby was sitting in marriage counselling of all things, all alone, while the wife was off doing whatever, normally something that made Hannya’s eyes nearly roll out of her skull. If Jolene wasn’t going to play with her husband, then why couldn’t Hannya?
By the time she finally returned to her meatsuit, she had at least a dozen missed calls from Hector. She hated being tethered to rules and schedules, but this? Ugh. Sure, Hector owned the building, but he wasn’t really her boss. Even Lucifer himself was merely… meh most of the time.
Strolling into the club, she met that other little vampire by the door━not Lawrence, the other one. Younger, still an L-name. “Hey, buttercup,” She grinned, “Let’s go see what the big, bad, boss-man wants, huh?” Musing to him in a baby voice━because that’s what he was, a baby━Hannya slipped her arm around the kid’s and dragged him through the door with her. Hector was there, of course, and Lawrence, the good little worker bee he was. Somehow, an eternity of freedom was lost on these creatures. They still sought human lives despite being elevated from them.
Hannya let her smirk drift from Lawrence to Hector, squeezing Lincoln’s━ah, that’s what it was━arm gently. “I was busy. A demon’s gotta do what a demon’s gotta do, right?” She answered anyway, ignoring Hector’s dismissal of his own question while she parted from Linc and went to the bar, leaning on the counter at Lawrence’s side. One wink at him and her focus was back on Hector.
“Is that a promise, Mr. Dacre?” Hannya purred in response to his threat, a little shiver going through her. Lifting a hand, her elbow resting on the bar, she dipped one finger past her lips, just to the first knuckle, giving him an inquisitive look. In a moment, her playfulness disappeared, and the demon sighed, a quick roll of her eyes before dropping her hand.
“I think you should ask the bartender,” Her gaze dipped to Lawrence, then back to Hector. “I was off makin’ sure our customers were happy. He was here the whole night; woulda seen what happened to your carpet.” Though that wasn’t true. Hannya was floating around, and she would’ve had to be deaf not to hear the commotion. Vampires got messy when they fought, especially when other creatures were involved. Some bloodsucker went after another kind’s close relative or plaything (Hannya couldn’t tell), sparking an all-out war between the vampires and the being whose species Hannya couldn’t pinpoint. It used magic but had claws and fangs━an ugly little thing, though still deadly.

It was the second time that week Lawrence felt like a child on the naughty step. First with Teddy, though that didn’t turn out as bad as he anticipated and now with Hector. Things had got out of hand the previous night, to the point he couldn’t control it. It was either have his heart torn out by the party animals that invaded the bar or face the wrath of Hector. Neither was going to be pretty, but at least with Hector there was a slim chance he’d live to see another day. He shuffled in his seat uncomfortably, waiting for the other two to arrive. His body tensed up at the sound of Hannya’s voice piercing through the walls, though a small smirk formed when she dragged Lincoln through the door, talking to him in a childlike manner. Of course, he was still intimidated by Hannya, but not as much as before. There was a part of him that had almost warmed to her lavish demeanour. The way she paraded around the bar like she owned it. Then there was the fun they had. Sneaking off when the bar fell quiet. He glanced over at the demon for a minute before looking back at Hector. Waiting for him to yell at the trio. Sure he’d kept his heart inside his chest, but now Hector was threatening to remove his limbs if he didn’t get to the bottom of what happened. The whole night was a bit of a blur for Lawrence. It all started off so quiet then descended into chaos. There was fighting, dead humans, smashed glasses. It mirrored a bar you’d see in the roughest area of New York. Naturally, his gaze fell down on the floor as the older vampire mentioned it. The smell of the blood lingered in the air so thick you could taste it. His eyes quickly shot up when Hannya mentioned the bartender. With a frown on his face, he looked at Hannya. “Exactly you were in charge of the customers… I was just serving drinks” Lawrence looked back at Hector, “These vampires were over 500 years old. Me and Lincoln didn’t stand a chance against them… you’d think the ancient demon who you promoted last week would have done something… she was technically in charge last night” He was still bitter Hannya was now his boss. The woman barely did anything apart from a spin around the pole and flirt with everyone. He inhaled quietly, feeling himself getting annoyed at the situation, “I did tell Lincoln to stop letting humans in” every time he looked up from the bar there was a fresh face in the bar with a mouth watering pulse under their skin. Shattered glass glittering under the edge of the door. Sunlight spilling through and around it to create a minefield. Sitting in the store room, knees drawn up atop one of the crates of liquor, arms looped around them Linc had watched the sun slowly twist itself around. That arc sweeping the floor like a laser beam while his phone shook and moaned out there among the broken glass. Maybe Magnus trying to track him down after last night’s shit show or Hector trying to pin him down.
Shit.
He’d heard them marching in and out. Bodies that could lead the authorities right back here if they were found dragged out. A whole day of clean up while he’d, for all intents and purposes, been trapped here by the sun he still couldn’t walk in.
Linc huffed out a breath as the last wedge of sun disappeared, slipping down off the box. He brushed his knuckles over his lips, feeling the dry crackle of blood on his face. If Wesley had been the one in charge last night wouldn’t have ended up with the ‘revellers’ being ejected, he would’ve just joined in the blood letting until he’d painted the entire place red. He always had his whipping boy to clean up after him.
There wasn’t anybody on the other side of the door, just his phone sitting there, the screen lighting up again with Hector’s name. 92 missed calls. Not gonna make it to 93. Linc answered quietly, his voice barely a rumble drowned out by the snap of Hector’s voice. Downstairs. Now.
Still he’d dragged his heels, only reaching the door as Hannya swanned in, none the worse for last night as she slipped her arm into his and dragged him in. Linc tried to pull back but Hannya had her grip, unbreakable. ”Nothin’ good,” he muttered.
Being the baby of the bunch wasn’t gonna mean a thing if Hector lost his shit. Looking at him like a landmine about to blow, Linc eased a hip up onto a stool at the bar. Muscles twitching in his jaw, his hand slipping into the pocket of his jeans to squeeze his phone. He didn’t need Hector to draw his attention back to the carpet, last night he’d ended up on it on hands and knees in the thick blood, trying to pull one of the human chew toys they’d all been fighting over out of the middle of it all.
Oh, there it was, Hector’s temper rolling out as Hannya slipped into that flirty cat mode, making it obvious how much she loved the lead up to that whap with a paw. Blame thrown from one to another, Hannya tossing that red hot ball to Lawrence, as the bartender, Lawrence tossed it about like a chimp with a hot potato, frowning at Hannya before he threw it on. Linc’s mouth fell open as it landed in his lap. ”You’re blamin’ me? You and her told me to let in whoever was on the list, if they had a guest, they had a guest.” He stabbed a finger at the maitre d’s stand at the door and its pretentious little book. ”It was all calm until the two of you slipped off for a little … you know. What was I meant to do then when some ancient Dracula wannabe decided he didn’t wanna share? You got a training course for that?” He winged a brow at Hector, the pit of his stomach twitching. A step too far maybe.

Hector watched as the other two strolled into the bar, but his eyes narrowed at Hannya’s comments. “A demon’s gotta do what a demon’s gotta do, right?”The being who had no need for sleep, water or food so who knows what she'd been doing all day. She was the only one who didn’t look shaken by Hector’s anger, viewing the whole situation as some kind of joke. He glared at her for a little longer when she asked if his threat was a promise. Again, not bothered by his comments. As expected the three of them started to blame each other, none of them willing to accept blame in what happened. His eyes drifted between his staff again as they all started throwing their excuses at him. “Lawrence has a point, Hannya… I did promote you last week under the assumption you knew how to do your job” But also because she killed one of the investors. A behind closed doors deal between the pair. “You two are the more experienced members of staff… this is on your shoulders more than Lincoln” He pointed at both Lawrence and Hannya. Hector turned his head as Lincoln spoke. He was hesitant to employ the fresh vampire in the first place. Baby vampires were unpredictable but he was doing Magnus a favour by hiring Lincoln. “But Lincoln, you know how to use a phone… you have my number… fucking call me!” Hector wasn’t even sure how he’d bode in a fight against a group of ancient vampires, but he would have cleared most of them out. He dipped his head for a moment, as Lincoln continued talking. “What?” Hector looked up at Lawrence and Hannya, his jaw clenched as he did so, “Have you two been… whilst working?” He paid them to work, not to sneak off together. He glanced back at Lincoln for a moment, “I’m sure Magnus can show you a thing or two if you ask, but again…” He raised his phone up, pointing at it dramatically, “Use this next time instead of cowering in the corner, shitting yourself” He lowered his hand slowly, not sure which employee he wanted to glare at next. ━ make you beg for it, plead for it, until you feel like you breathe for it ━ DAMN, HANNYA COULD'VE SQUEEZED the life out of both these two idiots and never bat an eye. Her eyes narrowed at Lawrence, teeth gritted at his betrayal, though in a way, this was… fun. She didn’t often see that bad side of Lawrence, but it was her mission to watch it come alive. First, drinking from humans. Now? Well, now he was throwing everybody under the bus when this was all his fault. In her head, anyway. It wasn’t Hannya who craved human blood in the middle of her shift, and it wasn’t Hannya who decided that flirting with women at the bar was a good idea.
“What?” Hannya snapped, glare turning to Hector. She straightened slightly from where she’d previously been leaning against the bar, muscles tight and rigid with irritation. “One little problem and suddenly I ain’t doin’ my job right? I ran this place for months without the title an’ we didn’t have any fuckin’ issues. Now it’s all my fault ‘cause tweedle dumb and tweedle dumber can’t do shit?” She hissed, “When ya move up the ladder, less of this shit becomes your responsibility. I expect my staff to do the jobs they were hired to do, like maintain peace.” This wasn’t fair, and the jealousy brewing inside her only made it worse. Envy over Hector’s position, the respect they gave him, and the confidence he once had in her.
Lawrence went for Lincoln next, though, and that was more fun than when he stabbed her in the back. Once again, she settled back into the bar, elbows keeping her up on it. That lazy smirk returned, moving to eye Lincoln, though it only grew when he sold them out. Little bitch.
‘Have you two been… whilst working?’
“Twerp.” Hazel eyes rolled their way from Lincoln to Hector, though she wasn’t as worked up as before. “You’re really gonna believe the little virgin whose never even had a girl look at him?” Hannya snorted, “He was probably sittin’ outside the door watchin’ an’ that’s how this happened.”
She liked the way the baby challenged the big boss, but she liked it even more when Hector treated him as one. She wanted to stir this up, see how many of them she could upset and how much. It was Lincoln’s turn now. “Oooh, gotta call your Daddy for help.” Hannya snickered, looking sideways at the boy, mock pouting. “Poor baby,” She grinned then, “Can’t handle a coupla bad customers, can’t use a cellphone. Must be hard bein’ the useless kind of vampire.” Hannya teased, reaching out to pinch Lincoln’s cheek.

The three sat like siblings, their father trying to find out who broke the vase in the hallway. All of them engaging in childish behaviour as they threw the blame back and forth. None of them owning up to their part in the shit show that took place the previous night. Hannya was always bragging how she could crush a man’s skull like a peanut but didn’t stand up to the party-goers. Lawrence tensed up as Hannya referred to him and Lincoln as her staff. As though he belonged to her. The phrase irked him as he shuffled in his chair once more, glaring at his bit on the side. “Do you even know what the word peace means?” He snapped. It was doubtful, which was evident in her behaviour every day. Slamming human’s faces into their steering wheel for starters. The demon relished in causing drama, as she did anytime he tried to flirt with another girl or whenever another girl looked in his direction. Sometimes he was happy to feed into the envy though, knowing there was a chance he was in too deep. He was careful not to throw the same glare back at Hector. The older vampire had been wearing an expression of anger all day. One that is ready to rip a person apart, “At least I called you this morning and helped you shift the bodies whilst these two were ignoring you all day” Surely that stood for something. The dirt still lay under his fingernails and on his palms. Lawrence's gaze shifted from Hector to Lincoln as he called the pair out of their mid-shift rendezvous. He remained silent as his throat seized up. The thought of Hector finding out made his mouth go dry and his stomach somersault. He had been trying to pull himself away from Hannya for a while now, worried someone would find out but apparently, they hadn’t been as coy as he imagined. Of course, the demon would always be purring in his ear that no one suspected a thing. Assuring him everything was okay as he listened to her heart racing fast in her chest. Offering herself up as a snack, which he couldn’t refuse “It’s only been on our break” Sometimes during their shift, but he kept that to himself. He drew his bottom lip between his teeth, nibbling slightly. At least the spotlight had moved back onto Lincoln as Hannya lay into him with her words. He wanted to defend Lincoln, to an extent, but he was pissed at the other vampire for outing him and Hannya to the boss, leaving a sour taste in his mouth. “You’re the one who’s been letting underage witches in the bar…” Low blow bringing Cassie into this, but he couldn’t stop himself from getting involved in the tit for tat. If he was about to be dragged down he was adamant to bring the other two with him. LINCOLN CROWNE

At least Wesley’s people had been too scared of him to talk back – himself included. He was the one leading the charge to spill the blood, leaving the flat strewn with the bodies he’d helped to drain. All it’d taken was the snap of his fingers and he’d have his personal servant and that lower tear of hangers on rushing in to clean them up. Having seen what happened when you screwed up Linc had never risked it. Now there was room for a no, even if it was battered down by Hector after or simply swept aside by Hannya.
Blue eyes ticked back and forth between the three of them, judging how far he could shove the blame from Hector’s reaction to them. A relaxation in the line of his shoulders, a minute twitch to his mouth as most of the blame was shunted off. All if it should’ve been shoved off onto other shoulders but Hector was still portioning some to him. ”I couldn’t try and help the girl and call at the same time … not unless pullin’ some sort of Houdini shit is a vampire thing I don’t know about.” It wasn’t, although there was plenty none of them had shown him yet.
Hannya was meant to hold the reins in here but last night her grip had been loose. Now it seemed to snap tight in the air, all that attitude shooting straight at Hector as his own brows rose. ”Can’t do shit if I’m not told to do it,” he muttered under his breath. Magnus had been the one to get him hired on here. A spot among the old AF, as Cassie had called them in other terms. If he couldn’t learn from them … then he was screwed and not in the way Hannya was intimating now. He stared at her impassively as she started to try and strip him bare. ”I know enough to know there wasn’t anything worth looking at.”
Magnus, his guardian of sorts now, was meant to be some sort of wise man on all of this on top of that but no matter how much he talked him through he still felt out of his depth. A kid without guidance. He should’ve known enough not to kick two more powerful people under the bus at least but he’d done it and saw Hector’s jaw clench. Linc ducked his head slightly, glancing in Hannya’s direction, the more dangerous of the two. ”I’ll make sure I am them not to lock me up with the sun between me, my phone and the crime then.” Sod the customers.
And sod his boss. That mocking voice had him gritting his jaw as he just looked at her. Like the girls at school, sing-songing anything they thought would get under your skin. ”Must be hard fuckin’ up when you’re meant to be watchin’ the shop, or just you know, minus the ‘up’.” Getting metaphorically slapped on the wrist. He actually slapped hers instead, trying to bat away those nipping fingers, his eyes darting to Lawrence, the tilt of his head screaming liar before his shoulders stiffened again. ”She wasn’t in the club. You tellin’ me everybody down here was over 21 when they got … you know … how old were you?” Tossing it back in Lawrence’s court while something squirmed in the pit of his stomach. He’d done Cassie a favour and now it might end up with Hector spewing at him like Vesuvius.

Hector discarded the shard of glass on the table nearby as he listened to his employees bat the blame from left to right, digging even further by bringing up unrelated stuff. It was becoming clear he would need to keep a closer eye on his staff. He exhaled slowly as Hannya spoke, “It’s not a little problem Hannya. The last thing we need is the cops sniffing around this place, which is hard when I came into a mountain of dead bodies this morning that I had to dispose of in various locations around this town” All four of them were technically dead. Written down in some register somewhere as being deceased and Hector had heard through whispers that not everyone in the police force were humans. He wanted to keep his nose as clean as possible, which meant staying on the right side of law enforcement. Most vampires believed they were superior to the laws that bounded the humans, but being dragged into a police station for questioning was inconvenient. So many people to compel and shit to clean up. Lawrence had already confirmed him and Hannya’s sordid meetings, apparently during their break, which Hector doubted, “You two can do whatever you like outside of working hours but this is not a brothel. I don’t pay you to have sex” He paid one to entice the male customers and the other serve them. A job that went hand in hand. Another sigh escaped him as he brought his right hand up, pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration, closing his eyes for a second. “A witch? Why the hell was a witch in here? They hate vampires” His hand dropped as he looked at Lincoln, dismissing the underaged part. As Lincoln firmly pointed out the age checks were somewhat lacking in the bar, which was needed otherwise he’d have no customers, “No mortals in her unless you’re willing to dispose of this witch's dead body when she eventually gets killed? Look at what happened last night… you could be cleaning your girlfriends' blood out the carpet right now” HANNYA / LAWRENCE MURPHY / LINCOLN CROWNE

━ make you beg for it, plead for it, until you feel like you breathe for it ━ ‘DO YOU EVEN KNOW what the word peace means?’
Hazel eyes flicked back to Lawrence. She smirked smugly as if she’d already landed her blow. Hannya took her time with it, laughing low and languid; growing curt with each punched breath, becoming jagged like a blade. “You’re addicted to chaos.” She said it as if it was just the two of them here, tongue barely breaching the air as it slid over her upper lip. Hannya ought to give him a bit of leeway, though━it wasn’t his fault she was so enticing, or that he was so weak-minded he couldn’t resist her. Nobody could. He was just a man.
Same with Hector. These vampires thought they were so old; he hadn’t even touched the crust of it━Hector wasn’t close enough to lick the crumbs of her age. “Have you ever truly seen a mountain of corpses, Hector?” She asked simply, blinking once. Her eyes went dark. It wasn’t meant to intimidate him, merely explain her thinking without the need for words. The human deep within trembled, and Hannya drew in a slow breath, allowing the darkness to disappear, Dolly’s soft hazel hues returning. She was here by choice. It was fun. He might be the owner of these four walls, but she came from the being that ruled Earth, and she would not be spoken to like a child.
One audible sigh, and Hannya smiled, that borrowed accent reappearing like a bath of honey over the room.
She looked to Lincoln, cackling sweetly even as he defended himself and batted her away, amused, like playing a game with a cat━watching it get angry and show claws while you continued to wave your hand in front of it.
“Oooh,” Snickering, her hand drew back, elbow returning to its spot on the bar. “Maybe I was wrong, huh? Sounds like vampire baby’s got himself a girlfriend.” The demon clearly joked, but the jealousy was there━why did he have someone else to hold his attention? Why did he need anyone else? She didn’t want to bed the little vampire, but he should want to lay with her. Hannya was the only thing that any of these men should want.
‘Look at what happened last night… you could be cleaning your girlfriends’ blood out the carpet right now.’
Hannya gave Lincoln that faux-serious expression, raising her brows and nodding, like an older sibling rubbing it in. “Shoulda known better, pipsqueak. Could be lickin’ her blood out the carpet. You hungry now?” She snickered, ready to slash her own body open if it meant she could cause a fuss, though Hannya just wanted this ‘meeting’ to be over. And Hector might shed a tear if she got any more blood on the carpet.
“We done now, Mr. Dacre? ‘Cause I’d like to start the makin’ up part. The punishment is gettin’ a little borin’, y’know? ‘Less you wanted to keep tellin’ me I’m a naughty girl.” Hannya smiled innocently. “We can go up to your office for that.” Finally pushing away from the bar, she drew into Hector, fingers capturing his collar to toy with it idly.

Lawrence’s body was as stiff as a rock as he sat on the barstool. His limbs were ridgy and stiff with tension and irritation. As though he was ready to fight, despite the fact he would be obliterated by Hannya and Hector in seconds. He glanced down at the wet carpet as Hannya and Lincoln threw comments at each other, only peeking up when Lincoln asked how old he was when he died. It was pretty obvious he was balancing on the younger side when he died, “Not the point bud. Cassie has human blood running through her veins” It wasn’t about the age with the young witch though, as she’d already drilled into Lawrence that technically she was older than 21. Cassie was a meal for almost everyone in the bar and he didn’t want to see that happen. The poor girl had just come back from the dead. It would be unfair to throw her back onto the other side so quickly. “You’re addicted to chaos.”Blue eyes darted away from Hannya. Hating hearing the truth come from someone else's mouth. It was the danger that kept drawing him back in every single time. Driven by the fact he was getting involved with someone who’d literally been raised by the devil. In New Orleans he was practically top of the food chain, bar the older vampires, but at Mystic Falls he’d been forced down a notch by demons. Either way, his and Hannya’s mid-shift meetings needed to stop. As much as he enjoyed it, the job was sadly more important, but he knew that conversation wouldn’t go down well with the demon. She’d no doubt ram her claws into him and pull him in. He looked back at her for a moment as she spoke to Hector, flashing those empty eyes he hated. The ones that made his blood run cold and unsettled him, but she was right. It wasn’t exactly a mountain of corpses, just a few more than usual, but he wasn’t about to push it any further with Hector. Instead, Lawrence just nodded in agreement, trying to indicate that he’d listened to everything and taken everything on board, to an extent. He just wanted to go back home and change into some clean clothes. Thankfully Hannya announced her desire to end the meeting, but he frowned slightly when the blonde trotted over to Hector. Flirting with him as she played with the collar of his shirt. Was he jealous? He didn’t care when she draped herself over the customers, but this was another member of staff. He slid off the barstool, edging towards the exit of the bar. Towards freedom and some peace and quiet, “It won’t happen again” If it did Lawrence knew to dip out the backdoor as soon as things got messy. LINCOLN CROWNE

Loyalty to Wesley had been a matter of fear or desperation, the consequences of what happened if you weren’t laid out on the rug in his office, blood seeping into that faded wool. With Hector the jury had been out from the start, how far Magnus’ connection here would stretch for him unclear. Now Linc wondered just how quickly it was gonna snap. Two big shots in the room each calling jurisdiction on their part of this supernatural whole, two almost insignificant pawns in it shoving proverbial hands up like just being lackeys was gonna be an excuse for what happened.
Let Hannya take the flack, she was where the buck stopped after all.
Linc’s throat still worked as Hector mentioned getting rid of the bodies though. Arms tight across his chest, his lips pressing together as he cut his gaze up to the corner of the room, like he could see through the building to where they’d been scattered. While he’d sat there watching the light spill across the floor.
Maybe bits of him and Lawrence would end up in the same place. Liberties taken had to be punished somewhere and he couldn’t see Hector pulling out his sword, pirate style, and lopping off hands. A trace of heat rose in Linc’s cheeks at his chastisement of them. Not on the premises. Demon, vampire … witch … it didn’t matter. You kept your nose clean here – and he hadn’t. Hannya and Lawrence hadn’t either, the words slipping silk like out of Hannya now feeling intimate in a way, leaving that shudder beneath his skin. He definitely shouldn’t have been hearing that.
The demon gave no shits though, taunting her favourite pastime. Words, that languorous touch that somehow felt wrong, the snap of those hazel eyes to dark. Shit. His eyes cut away, refusing to meet them when those promises were raw in the air.
Sandy brows drew together at Hector’s demand for answers. The older vampire’s dark eyes fixing on him. A muscle jumped in Linc’s jaw. He wasn’t about to admit that it was another part of his education lacking, if it had been one of Magnus’ lessons he hadn’t heard the words. ”She wasn’t allowed in. She just wanted the music. Didn’t seem like much hate there to me.” Except for the bouncer who’d turned Cassie away at the door in the first place. A pointless exercise when being turned meant you could permanently be a sixteen year old with a thousand year old mind trapped in that young body.
Somehow he kept up his poker face as he took a swipe at Hannya, backbone in his observation that brought on a snicker from her. Nausea washed away the hunger the scent of the blood brought on, Linc’s eyes dropping to the carpet, rocketing back up. It was too easy to picture Cassie sprawled there on the carpet, throat torn open by one of the things that would’ve toyed with her like a cat with its prize. ”She’s not … she just …” He pulled away from the bar, needing to get out of there before the image permanently imprinted itself across the back of his eyeballs. ”She won’t be in here again.” It felt like a dismissal with those orders.
Fingers curled into his palms and unfurled again, the skin almost itching as he scrubbed them against the rough fabric of his jeans. It was that sick push and pull of his hunger again, this place doing nothing to curb it. So much for Magnus’ promises. Instead of dipping a toe in slowly, he’d been dropped into a blood bath to drown. ”I’m fine. I’ll get a bucket … start to clean this up.” Penitence on his knees, bloody water washing over his knuckles, trying not think about how Hannya was giving hers. Something Lawrence obviously didn’t want to think about either. Both of them should’ve been pouring the bleach he trailed out to fetch into their ears and eyes instead.

“Have you ever truly seen a mountain of corpses, Hector?”— She flashed those familiar black eyes at him. He’d seen his fair share of dead bodies, but he knew it wasn’t on the same level Hannya was talking about. Almost as if she was showing off, reminding the rest of them that she was the demon in the room. The one who could certainly take out Lincoln and Lawrence without breaking a nail. Hector liked to think he’d put up a good fight against her. It was the lack of respect from Hannya that irked him as it was something he wasn’t familiar with. He expected the same level of respect his crew once gave him back in the day. They would hang off every order he gave and none of them would have dared to go against him. He often made an example out of those who crossed him or disrespected him and as he listened to the others bicker amongst themselves he wondered whether he should do the same to those three. Assert his dominance in some way, even to Hannya. The three were keen to bring an end to the meeting, as was Hector. Bored of lecturing his staff on how to be better employees. “If anything like this happens again I won’t be calling a friendly meeting” Instead it would be their bodies he’d be burying in the woods. He’d even find a way of getting to Hannya He pulled back from Hannya slightly as she started to toy with the collar of his shirt. Hector wasn’t in the mood to give into her flirty behaviour and play games with her. “No thank you Hannya. I’m sure you have demon things to be getting on with” At least Lincoln was offering to stay behind and clean up, which certainly earned him some gold stars in Hector’s book, along with the promise to keep the witch away from the bar. “If you care about her you’ll keep her away from this place. There’s nothing worse than finding your girlfriend's dead cold body” No snarky remarks to Lincoln, he was being serious. Nothing could have prepared him for the death of Evelyn. Life faded from her eyes long before he reached her, but even now he wondered if there was anything more he could do. Lincoln had that option. Meanwhile, Lawrence was busy dipping out the door.
