Where Wolves?

Much of the Kovacs’ pack history can be found in Viktor’s app. The family are descended from a Russian Night Witch (who happened to be an actual witch) and a Hungarian werewolf alpha who had been a freedom fight in Budapest, where the Night Witch had crashed landed. After Hungary fell to Communism and the Russians in the 1950s the family escaped in a cargo plane to the very north of Canada where the family remained hidden from the outside world (barring the small village they lived in) for the next 60ish years. Viktor and his siblings were born there to a werewolf father and one of the local women from the village. For years they lived in peace but then hunters arrived. Their parents and much of the rest of the family were left behind in the rush to get out. His grandmother had been shot and died on board the plane he was flying. His grandfather had been shot by a wolfsbane bullet and when they landed it became apparent it was too late for him. To save the pack Viktor took his grandfather’s life and became Alpha. They had found temporary safety on a small island formerly used as an army base – just enough food to keep them going for a time, a little fuel to send Viktor on ahead with a promise that he would return as soon as he found somewhere safe.

For three years Eniko, Aliz, Alex, their uncle Lazslo, his wife and Lazslo’s three children were left with no news of Viktor while he travelled across Russia and into eastern Europe looking for that place. After meeting up with a siren (although he still doesn’t know what she is) in Budapest and saving his life, Viktor tried to return to the island but got talked int flying Harmony to Mystic Falls instead, which is where his family will find him.

After waiting long enough for Viktor’s return his three siblings and one cousin decided to strike out for themselves to find safety for themselves. How they got to Mystic Falls can be discussed but the important thing is that these four should have stuck together.

Species for these four aren’t one hundred percent fixed because there is a mixed bloodline but to fit with the history they should be werewolf, witch or human. Preferably I would like one to be of a different species to the others.

Please note that these characters will be heavily connected with the plots of HARMONY & Viktor and so please bear in mind that threading with Harmony will be necessary if you reserve these roles.

With her brother gone Eniko tried to step up. She never imagined that she would have to be Alpha one day – that was always supposed to go to her father and then to Viktor. Typically quieter than her big brother she would have perhaps struggled with the role and the pressure at first. With time and practice came a capability, although for a responsibility that she was planning on handing back just as soon as Viktor returned.

While she is the oldest sister Eniko likely allows her younger siblings to guide her decisions more than she likely should. She remains close to them though and was perhaps closest to Viktor before he had to leave.

When Eniko first changed Viktor was the one to coach her through the change. Out of all of her siblings she’s probably the least comfortable with what she is but being the practical one she knows that they have little choice in it.

On the road she’ll likely be the one supporting her cousin and younger siblings, although occasionally she will screw up and Eniko just sees this as being human, despite the fact that she goes furry once a month.

Aliz is the twin sister of Alex and was born just 5 minutes ahead of her brother, something she says makes him the baby of the family. From birth she was the wild child, the other the others had to try and keep up with. The expectation was that the girls would learn to cook as well as to fish and farm like the boys, but Aliz always preferred the fishing and farming and the Kovacs’ other two Fs – fighting and flying – to stirring pots and pans or listening to their grandmother’s treatises on the nightmare of Communist Russia while she worked dough.

Like her elder brother Aliz always loved those trips out in the cargo plane to the nearest big settlement, she was the one who would always beg to go along and had planned to learn to fly just as well as Viktor could before the hunters arrived. When the shooting started Aliz was ready to fight alongside her grandmother and was pissed that she was made to get on board the plane. When Viktor then went to leave the island, Aliz tried to go with him but was forced to stay put.

From the moment the plane was out of sight Aliz would have been pushing her siblings to go after him. As food got more scarce and there was still no word Aliz would push harder and was the reason that Eniko decided to take the three of them to find new territory. Out of the four of them Aliz is the one that still has the most faith that they’ll find their brother.

She hates the word no, takes head strong to new levels and unlike her sister revels in what she is. If there’s a fight Aliz will be right there, dragging her brother along with her.

Out of the four Kovacs siblings Alex is the quiet one. With such a force of nature for a twin Alex usually took the back seat. He trailed his brother and sisters everywhere, worked in the town like the rest of them did but had been happy to be a followed rather than a leader.

With him turning into a warlock rather than a werewolf he would have felt a little alienated from the rest but when the family was attacked Alex came into his own and managed to take down two of the hunters before his grandmother made him get on the plane.

Perhaps even more so than the others Alex allows Aliz to lead him into trouble. The more forceful of the twins she looks to take care of her little brother and Alex allows this. When Aliz decided they were gonna go and find Viktor Alex was the first one to agree with it. Unlike his sister he’s no longer sure that they’re going to find Viktor but he works at finding their course and keeping their heads above water so that Aliz doesn’t end up giving up hope.

Tazi is the son of Viktor’s uncle Lazslo. Born to one of the younger members of the older generation of Kovacs’, he was named for his uncle Balthazar – Tazi. Knowing he was never likely to take up position as alpha Tazi was far more relaxed about things going on with the family. Happy to just tag along with them, he was always very laid back about things … until the hunters came.

Tazi’s mother was shot in the attack on their settlement but both his parents and his siblings managed to escape on the plane with them. She survived and has remained on the island with his father and the rest of his siblings but when the others were leaving the island to try and find Viktor or new territory, Tazi felt like he had to go along with them.

Often the nervous one of the bunch Tazi is acutely aware of the dangers out there and tries to keep the family out of them as much as possible. Much of the rest of Tazi’s family history is open within reason – the family were a part of a very small community after all – and is his species, although it should make sense with the rest of the family.
