━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN couldn't deny it, getting that off her chest to someone who wouldn't judge her felt incredibly nice. Not only that, but telling someone what she was going through, her fears, felt like a weight had been lifted off of her chest. Evelyn truly felt alone in all of this and she had a feeling that's what her father had intended. He wanted her to feel isolated, to be an outcast. She was easier prey that way, easier to get his way with her if she didn't have anyone in her life who would be willing to stand up to him, to protect her. But meeting Cas was like a miracle. As cheesy as that sounds, it was true. He was an angel, an all powerful being, someone who she did not have to worry would get hurt in this battle she was facing. Someone who was willing to help her without anything in return. Although she did not want Cas to get mixed up in all of this, she knew it was too late for that given the turn of events.
'This world it's━ filled with a variety of creatures, it's best to keep an open mind about it all.' That was more true than he would know. "Having an open mind is something I have always strived to have. With being what I am, with the kind of person I am, I always want to give people the benefit of the doubt, you know, try and have an open-mind. Some may say that's foolish, but I say it's kind. Granted, after everything that has been happening with my Father, it's becoming more and more difficult." She said with a long, drawn out sigh, picking up her glass and sipping the contents, letting the burn travel down her throat in a comforting manner before setting the glass down onto the bar, cupping the glass between her hands.
Hearing Cas's comment on how it is still hard to pick up on the sarcasm she smiled softly. "How long have you been on earth? If you don't mind me asking." She said, genuinely curious. Evelyn had never met an angel before, and with being the curious person she was, wanting to know everything about Cas. He was unlike anyone else she had ever met, he intrigued her in more than one way. Hell, if she were really being honest with herself, being beside Cas made her feel the most safe she had in a long while. It was comforting, to know she had someone on her side who was willing to help her, but more than that, protect her. Granted she knew she could have taken the men who had ambushed her if she had to, she couldn't in a crowded space such as the one they were currently in. She couldn't risk exposure, so she was more than grateful for Cas's presence.
Talking about her father sent chills down her spine. Just the thought of what he would do to her, what he was willing to do in order to get his way... was terrifying. Cas had let her finish speaking before talking, stating how it must have been scary not knowing what her father was planning and she could only nod. "You have no idea. Sleep has become increasingly difficult because of it," she admitted as she raised her glass to her lips once more, downing the rest of the contents before setting it back down onto the bar counter. 'I can help you, Evelyn. I want to help you. You shouldn't have to go through this on your own. So allow me to help you.' Evelyn's eyes softened at Cas's offer to help her and not just because he pitied her, but because he really wanted to help. Cas really was living up to his angelic status. "I would appreciate that, truly. I just... I don't want to drag anyone else into my mess. I know we just met Cas, but I would feel terrible if you got hurt because of me." She said sheepishly as she looked over at Cas briefly before looking at the bartender, tapping the top of her now empty glass. Again, the bartender filled her glass up but only about half of what he had prior, something she had requested. Evelyn didn't need to be belligerent drunk, not in a time like this. Then again, her tolerance was a lot higher than most people, but even then she still needed to be extra cautious right now.

━ i spread my wings and i learn how to FLY. ━ Having an open mind is something I have always strived to have. With being what I am, with the kind of person I am, I always want to give people the benefit of the doubt, you know, try and have an open-mind. Some may say that's foolish, but I say it's kind. Granted, after everything that has been happening with my Father, it's becoming more and more difficult.
"I don't think it's foolish at all. I think it's incredibly kind, especially after everything that you've been through." Castiel's voice was still gentle as he spoke, his blue eyes moving to settle on Evelyn once again. Evelyn seemed like an incredibly kind person and Castiel wished there were more people like her in the world. Castiel can't remember when was the last time he had actually felt this ... safe around a complete stranger which was a bit sad to think about, seeing as how most beings out there wanted nothing more than to drive an angel blade through his heart. But then again, it made moments like these very cherish-able for Castiel.
How long have you been on earth? If you don't mind me asking.
"Years, actually. I seemed to have lost count at this point. Truthfully, I never thought I would stay on Earth this long. I once thought of myself as a superior being. A soldier picked by God to do nothing other than to obey orders blindly and for quite some time, that's exactly what I did, until I started spending more and more time on Earth and I began to realize that these people are just trying their hardest to get by in a world where it's too easy for you to stray off your path and do terrible things to innocent people." Castiel's fingers soon wrapped around the glass again, lifting it up to his lips to take a quick sip, the alcohol leaving a lingering taste on his tongue for a moment even after swallowing.
You have no idea. Sleep has become increasingly difficult because of it, I would appreciate that, truly. I just... I don't want to drag anyone else into my mess. I know we just met Cas, but I would feel terrible if you got hurt because of me.
Castiel had no way of knowing what her father was planning, but from what Evelyn was telling him, it can't be anything good. He sounded like a truly deranged man who was consumed by his thirst for power, so he understood why Evelyn would lose sleep over something like this. "I'm sorry," while Castiel knew it wasn't his fault, he still couldn't help but say that out loud. She didn't deserve to live a life where she'd have to constantly look over her shoulder or sleep with one eye open to make sure that her father's men don't sneak up on her. "I could watch you sleep." Castiel offered. "Protect you while you're sleeping." He added a moment later with a nod of his head following. He didn't know that the offer itself sounded rather ... weird and a little bit creepy.
"And I would feel terrible if you got hurt." Castiel spoke up after a moment or so of silence, his eyes relaxing on Evelyn again. "I know we only just met, but I do know for a fact that the world would be a much darker place without you in it, Evelyn." Castiel added a moment later, his voice was sincere as always but there was a hint of softness in it. "You deserve to live a life that isn't spent running away and if there's a chance I can help you achieve that, then I will happily do it. So please, don't worry about me."
"I could perhaps look into ways to make it hard for your father's men to track you to give you some peace of mind until we find a permanent solution for your problem."

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN smiled as Cas said how it wasn't foolish, that it was incredibly kind. Considering all that she had been through, it was quite a miracle she hadn't turned pessimistic and callous. So. many in her situation most definitely would have, but not her. The light inside of her was the one thing she had always held onto, which was why it was so crucial she not give into her father's wishes, into that dark temptation because if she did, she knew she would lose herself completely. Taking a sip out of her drink she leaned back in her seat as she listened to Cas actually answer her question, explaining how he had been on Earth for years, that he had once been a warrior of God, until he had found humanity. What he said was true, humans and witches alike were just trying to get by, to remain true to themself and not stray off the path, which is exactly what her father was trying to get her to do; turn dark.
"Do you miss it? Heaven, I mean." She asked curiously, wondering if Heaven was like it had been described, if it were as pure and wonderful as literature had suggested it was. Evelyn had never been a hardcore church goer, neither had her family and before meeting Cas she hadn't really believed in a higher power, just going about her life just as she always had. She never got the point of worshipping a higher power, and with how her father wanted to be worshipped, quite literally like a god, it pushed her further from it.
Knowing that after this night, she again probably wouldn't get much sleep if any. She had spent too many restless nights awake, in fear that her father would one day find her. Not to mention the nightmares that seemed to creep into her mind as she tried to get even an ounce of sleep. The imagine of her friend's head on her front doorstep embedded into her mind, reminding her that she would never be safe until her father was completely out of the picture. 'I'm sorry,' Cas said to her, and she only smiled as she let out a sigh. "It's just something I have to live with." She said, more to herself than to Cas and then she heard Cas say how he could watch her sleep, to protect her while she slept, and while she knew he meant well, it did come off rather creepy. "As generous as that is, I think I am going to have to pass. I don't want you to waste your time constantly protecting me. I mean, I'm sure you have better things to do." She said, running a hand through her blonde curls as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. Evelyn hated being a burden, and while she knew Cas genuinely meant well, that he did want to help her, she didn't want to burden him with any of this, even if a part of her wanted he constant protection.
But she knew that was too selfish.
A few more moments of silence passed between the two before he spoke again, explaining how he would also feel terrible if she got hurt. His next words made her turn to look at Cas, her green staring into his blue ones as he said how the world would be a much darker place without her in it, that she deserved a life that didn't require her to look over her shoulder. Evelyn smiled, "Thank you, Cas." She said, meaning it. His words hit her harder than she thought they would, but they were words she needed to hear, more than he would ever know. Despite him telling her not to worry about him, she knew she would, it was just how she was.
Cas's next offer was one that was more obtainable, one that she actually wouldn't mind some help with. Having a way to protect herself from her father's men would be helpful, and would definitely give her some peace of mind. "That would be great." She said finally, and then she decided that this was enough of the heavy, that they were at a party and despite the night's events, deserved to have some fun. Downing the rest of her drink she slammed it down onto the table as she stood to her feet, holding a hand out as she looked at Cas. "I think it's time we have some fun, what do you say? Wanna dance?" She asked, hoping he would take her up on her offer as she didn't necessarily want to dance alone.

━ i spread my wings and i learn how to FLY. ━ Do you miss it? Heaven, I mean.
Castiel nodded his head once, his blue eyes settling upon Evelyn. He didn't feel the need to hide anything from her as she possessed no danger to him and he did feel like he could trust her and so, he decided to be honest with her. "Yes. Always. There was a time where my brothers and sisters regarded me as a ━" The word sat bitterly on his tongue but he finally managed to push it out. "Traitor, for my past actions and they had every right to. They wanted nothing to do with me for the longest time but, uh━" Castiel paused, his lips stretching to form a gentle smile. "My friend, Hannah, she helped me reestablish my relationship with Heaven and now, it's not so bad anymore." Now, he wasn't regarded as a traitor but as one of them again. They slowly but surely forgave him for his past mistakes and Castiel was honestly more than willing to spend eons begging for forgiveness, uncertain that he'll ever be worthy of forgiveness, not with all the horrible things he'd done in the past. "I always thought that I have to choose between my friends here and Heaven, but as it turns out, I don't. I can, unselfishly, have both." His expression melted into something soft as his heart filled with what you could view as relief.
It's just something I have to live with. As generous as that is, I think I am going to have to pass. I don't want you to waste your time constantly protecting me. I mean, I'm sure you have better things to do.
Castiel watched Evelyn, his head tilted slightly to the side before he slowly nodded his head in an understanding and sympathetic manner. Waste his time? Castiel squinted at the young witch before he gently shook his head. "It wouldn't be a waste of my time, Evelyn." He assured her almost right away. "But, if you're still worried about burdening me, which you are not, then if you ever find yourself in a dangerous situation that you can't save yourself from, pray. I'll find you easier that way." Castiel offered with a slow nod of his head following, his bright blue eyes focused solely on the younger one sitting next to him. "Does that sound alright to you?'
Thank you, Cas.
Castiel's lips formed a small smile when Evelyn thanked him for what he'd just said. "It's the truth," he said a moment later, his eyes moving to settle on his drink once more. He lifted it up to his lips, taking a quick sip before placing it down once more. He felt relief wash over him when Evelyn accepted his offer because he genuinely wanted to help her, no one should ever live a life like this, constantly looking over your shoulder with every step you take. Her next words made Castiel freeze though as his blue eyes slowly moved to look at Evelyn's hand then over at the dance floor like it was infested with demons and other creatures. "Um." Castiel thought about refusing, but Evelyn looked like she needed a distraction from that heavy subject and he'd feel bad if he sent her to dance on her own.
Castiel abandoned his drink on the bar top and took Evelyn's hand in his own as he hesitantly pushed himself up from the stool. He stood rooted in his spot for a moment or so, his eyes flickering between Evelyn and the dancing crowd. "I don't━" A gulp. "I don't know how to, uh━" Castiel gestured vaguely at the dancing crowd. "I don't know how to dance," The angel finally completed his sentence. "I've never done that before." Castiel added a moment later, followed by a subtle clear of his throat.

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN listened to Cas speak on his time in Heaven, how he missed it dearly. She had heard stories of Heaven, of how it lived up to its name, that it truly was paradise. Often she had wondered if life would be better up there than down here on Earth, although she never said that out loud. Either way, hearing that such a place did in fact exist made her feel the tiniest bit better about life after death. It also meant her father wouldn't be up there with her, that brought her comfort beyond belief. Hearing Cas say how things were better with him, that he was able to rekindle the relationship he had once thought he'd lost for good, made her smile softly. "I'm glad you don't have to choose. That kind of conflict is never good, especially when you're forced to choose." She said, genuinely meaning it. Evelyn was glad things worked out for her new friend. Other's lives didn't have to be as dark as her own was, which was why she tried not to drag others into her mess. They didn't need the stress she was under, didn't need to also be looking over their shoulders as she did.
No one did.
Even though Cas didn't think it would be a waste of his time, she for sure did. Cas was an angel for crying out loud, a literal warrior of Heaven. Why should he spend his nights watching over her? Especially someone he had just met? It didn't make much sense to her, even with his reassurance that she wouldn't be a bother. Hearing his counter offer, however, made her head tilt ever so slightly. "All I have to do is pray? And what, you'll just appear? Just like that?" She questioned. Was it seriously that easy? It appeared so and it was then when she realized she quite literally had her own guardian angel, which brought her comfort. It eased the tension that seemingly had been building in her shoulders - hell, over her entire body. Having that extra reassurance was exactly what she needed, it meant she truly would never be alone in this, that if she needed, she had backup. "I can do that," she finally said with a smile. If it was that easy to summon Cas, especially in time of need, she would most definitely take advantage of it, especially with how persistent her father and his men were in tracking her down.
Nevertheless, for once tonight, she was going to have some fun and try and relax. Key word: try. It wasn't often she had the chance to relax and have some fun, not since her father decided to amp up his plot to destroy her and take her magic, which she was sure was the real reason behind all of this. As she stood there, hand outstretched towards Cas, she waited for him to either take his hand in hers or decline her offer to dance with her. Evelyn half expected him to decline, especially considering he was an angel and she wasn't entirely sure he had ever danced before, or even wanted to. Did angels party? Guess she would find out here in a second.
Evelyn's eyebrow raised as she saw Cas's expression, one of pure fear and hesitation. It seemed her suspicions were correct because Cas explained how he didn't know how to dance, nor had he ever. Guess angels didn't party after all. Poor Cas, he looked so distraught at the thought of dancing, but this was an easy fix, she could teach him. "That's fine, I can teach you. It's easy." She said, winking as she took Cas's hand in hers and dragged him out into the middle of the dance floor. Cas looked so stiff and she could tell he truly hadn't ever danced before. Looking up at Cas she smiled as she took his hand and placed it on her waist, followed by his other. "So your hands will go here, and then mine will go around your neck," she explained, placing her hands on top of his shoulders. "Now all you have to do is sway to the music, like this," she said as a matter of fact, beginning to sway her hips back and fourth to the beat as to show Cas what he was to do. "Just let loose, feel the music." She said, beginning to dance as she felt the effects of the multiple drinks she had consumed begin to take effect. For once, she was going to enjoy the rest of this evening and wouldn't think of what had happened earlier. She'd worry about that tomorrow.

━ i spread my wings and i learn how to FLY. ━ I'm glad you don't have to choose. That kind of conflict is never good, especially when you're forced to choose.
Castiel couldn't agree more with Evelyn on that. It had been such a difficult time for him, but thankfully, he no longer felt the need to choose between Earth or Heaven. "Exactly. It was weighing down on me for quite some time, but thankfully, it's not an issue anymore. Especially since we have much bigger things to focus on." Like Lucifer roaming the Earth, but he doubted that breaking such a thing to Evelyn would be easy to swallow. She did have an open mind about the existence of angels, but what about the existence of absolute evil? He probably would struggle the most with accepting that.
All I have to do is pray? And what, you'll just appear? Just like that? I can do that,
Castiel nodded his head slowly in lieu of an answer at first before he looked over at Evelyn. "Yes, it's very much teleportation except my teleportation happens with the aid of my wings." He explained, his voice remaining soft as he explained how he did it. There was a reassured smile forming on his lips upon hearing that Evelyn will pray for him if she ever finds herself in dangerous situation. "Thank you." Castiel hoped that his offer didn't paint her as weak or incapable of protecting herself because she looked like a very capable woman and seemed powerful herself, but Castiel just wanted to make sure that nothing bad happens to her.
That's fine, I can teach you. It's easy. So your hands will go here, and then mine will go around your neck, Now all you have to do is sway to the music, like this, Just let loose, feel the music.
Castiel hesitantly looked back at Evelyn before slowly nodding his head as he allowed Evelyn to take him to the middle of the dance floor where he risked a quick look at his surroundings, noticing how they were surrounded from every side with dancing bodies. It smelled vaguely of sweat and cigarettes but he didn't really mind it. He noticed how everyone on the dance floor looked relaxed like this, their heads tilted back and their bodies moving from side to side, following the rhythm of the song playing from those big speakers. His blue eyes found Evelyn again, his body stiff as a rock as his adam's apple bobbed with a swallow. "Um━" Whatever he was about to say was soon interrupted by Evelyn placing his hands on her waist which brought him a little closer to her. "This is━" what, exactly? It wasn't bad or uncomfortable... But it was most definitely new for the angel. He didn't mind her touch at all, barely moving an inch when she rested her hands on his shoulders. He could feel her move under his palms and so he looked down, noticing how she was moving along with the rhythm of the music. Castiel's brows furrowed in confusion as his lips parted slightly and with her final advise, he started copying her but he still looked really stiff and awkward.
"Like this?" He questioned as he looked down, careful not to step on Evelyn as his body continued moving. "I don't... think I'm doing this right," he definitely noticed how different his movements were from the other people around him. His eyes moved to settle on Evelyn, noticing how relaxed she looked as she moved along with the music and it was enough to put a small smile on his lips because she looked really sad before. He definitely felt glad that he'd agreed to this even if he looked really weird dancing. unable to get his body to cooperate. "This is surprisingly complicated..." But then again, for the longest time, he found a lot of things about humans and what they did or created quite complicated. Especially computers, he did not trust those.
"You make it look quite easy, though." He looked at the way she was moving her hips again, attempting to copy the movements one more time. "And fun." He added a moment later because it was the truth. She looked like she was having fun.

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
MEETING Cas truly had been a god send - literally. Knowing that she had an angelic protector was comforting, especially knowing that all she had to do was pray and he would be there. It wasn't that she couldn't take care of herself, that she wasn't powerful enough, because she very much was. But there were times where she knew that she would become overpowered or outnumbered. A witch was only so powerful. She knew good and well that there were things out there more powerful than she was, one of them being her father. Expression magic was unmatched, the darkness and power it wielded to those who used it was immense. Knowing her father used it as chilling, especially since she knew that he wanted something from her and knowing how much he liked power... she had a feeling that what he wanted was her magic.
Hearing Cas confirm her questions was good to know. All it took was her praying to Cas, for him to help her and he would be there in a blink of an eye. That alone was a lot to take in, that teleportation tactics existed. Sure he technically was flying due to his wings, which were hidden. That was another set of questions altogether. Evelyn's world truly had been expanded with the introduction to Cas and angels. But that begged the question... what else was out there that she hadn't yet discovered? Was there more than what she had initially thought?
It seemed so.
Nevertheless, she wouldn't worry about that all right now. For now she was having fun with her new friend Cas. For now she wouldn't think of how shitty her life was or the fact that her psychotic father was after her and her magic. She wouldn't worry about any of it right now. She would worry about it tomorrow. For now, she'd have fun and enjoy life like any other twenty-one year old would. As difficult as that may sound, she would try. For her own sanity she would try and not think about it all.
But damn if that wasn't hard to do.
Feeling the music Evelyn swayed her hips back and forth, her hands resting on Cas's shoulders as she tried to get him to dance with her. He seemed so stiff as they were in the middle of the dance floor, him not really moving at all. He definitely seemed uncomfortable, like he would rather be anywhere else but where he was. Then again, she couldn't really blame him considering he hadn't ever danced in a club like setting before. Poor thing was so awkward as he attempted to copy her moves. 'Like this?' He questioned and she glanced at his movements and couldn't help but chuckle softly. "Loosen up a bit more, you look really stiff. Here.." She said, but now moving her hands to his hips as she tried to move them how she had been telling him too. "You just gotta sway your hips like this. Really feel the beat of the music. Don't overthink it." She explained as she removed her hands from Cas's hips as she placed them back on his shoulders, beginning to sway to the music hoping he would pick up on what she was trying to say, although she wasn't too optimistic .
'You make it look quite easy, though. And fun.' She laughed as she heard Cas's comment. "I don't get to have fun like this often. Not like I used to anyways.." That seemed to sober her up quite a bit. Coughing, Evelyn disregarded those thoughts completely as she let go of Cas and put her arms in the air, really beginning to move to the music in an attempt to distract herself from the depressing and chilling thoughts that crept into her mind.

━ i spread my wings and i learn how to FLY. ━ Loosen up a bit more, you look really stiff. Here.. You just gotta sway your hips like this. Really feel the beat of the music. Don't overthink it.
Castiel's lips parted to release a small 'oh' when he heard that he was still looking really stiff. He was definitely overthinking it, all too hyperfocused on trying to match the way the other people surrounding them were moving, but he soon realized that they were probably very experienced when it came to dancing, meanwhile he was still pretty new, so it was no wonder he looked really stiff and awkward. He moved his hips with the guidance of Evelyn's hands, his body relaxing a little bit once it became used to the odd movements. He soon realized that with Evelyn, he was doing a lot of things he'd never tried before. The patterns on his skin from the glow-in-the-dark paint, and the way he was surrounded by dancing bodies while doing pretty much the same thing himself. It was all new to the angel, but it wasn't a bad experience in the slightest. "Alright. I'll try not to overthink it." He promised with a quick nod of his head as his frown eased away slowly but surely, his body moving, not quite matching the beat of the music but he was certainly getting there with time.
I don't get to have fun like this often. Not like I used to anyways..
"I'm sorry." Castiel's heart ached for her because someone like Evelyn deserved to live a normal and safe life. She deserved to be happy, but instead she was living in constant paranoia and pain, Castiel desperately wanted to make things better for her because it's exactly what she deserves. "Things will get better soon." I'll make sure of it. He was going to do everything in his might to make sure that Evelyn's life goes back to normal again. He won't abandon her.
Castiel felt a small smile touch his lips when she began to really move along with the music and while he couldn't match the way she skillfully moved her body, he was content with watching her have fun. It made him feel like he was having fun, as well.
Castiel didn't go back to the bar until a few more songs had passed, mainly just pushing through for Evelyn's sake because he definitely wanted her to have fun. He still moved his body, though and surprisingly enough, his body loosened up quite a bit until the end of the song and that was when he stopped. His eyes made a quick search for Claire, wanting to make sure that she was okay and was still having fun with Ben, which she definitely was. It made a gentle smile form on his lips before his eyes settled on Evelyn once again. It was getting quite late but Castiel didn't exactly mind it. He couldn't get tired and he didn't need to sleep at all, but he was certain that the same did not apply to Evelyn. "It's getting quite late," he announced, his blue eyes still focused on Evelyn. "Is that alright with you or do you wish to go home? I could walk you, just to be sure that you're safe." Castiel offered, not at all burdened by his suggestion. He wanted to do it because he'd hate for anything bad to happen to Evelyn. "I'm happy to stay with you if you wish to stay for a while longer."

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN couldn't help but be amused at Cas's lack of knowing the club scene, or how to dance for that matter. Wasn't he around since dancing was invented? Since, like, the dawn of time? But she had to give him some slack, after all he was an angel and she figured they had something better to do than spend time dancing with the humans. But seeing him overthink dancing of all things was funny, because it was so easy. Cas tried to follow her instructions, on just moving to the music and feeling the beat and he started to get it, moving his hips, awkwardly, but nonetheless moving them more than he had initially. She'd consider that progress. 'Alright, I'll try not to overthink it.' Cas said to her, although she could tell that he still was doing just that. Overthinking must be his middle name because that's all he had done since she met him, which was only an hour or so ago. But still, he was putting forth the effort and she appreciated it. He could have easily declined her offer to dance, but instead he chose to humor her.
Which she was thankful for.
'Things will get better soon.' She heard Cas tell her, although she didn't say a word, instead really beginning to feel the effects of the alcohol she had consumed earlier. Moving her hands into the air she moved her hips to the music, just completely immersing herself in the beat, trying to let loose and not worry about the hell that was her life. For one night, she wanted to not have any worries, if that were even possible given the circumstances. But for now, in that moment, she would enjoy her night with her new angelic friend. Tomorrow she would worry about what had happened. Little did she know the horrors weren't over, not by a long shot.
Many more songs came and went, Cas actually loosening up more more and more as time went on. And as time went on Evelyn felt more and more drunk, but not blackout drunk. Oh no she wouldn't ever let herself get that intoxicated, especially not with what was going on in her life concerning her father. Another song passed and that was when she saw Cas stop dancing completely, seeing his eyes searching and she couldn't help but begin to panic as if he saw the guys that were after her earlier, but not seeing a serious expression appear on his features, the panic subsided. 'It's getting quite late,' Cas said, more as an announcement, as a parent would tell their child at a birthday party. Evelyn looked up at Cas who towered over he as he asked if she wanted to stay or leave and that if she chose the latter he would be more than happy to walk her home to make sure she got to her place safely. Given the circumstances, she nodded. "I think it's best I go home. I had one many to drink," she said, slightly slurring her words as she spoke. "Yes, please." She said, agreeing to Cas's offer to walk her home. "I'm not in anyyyy condition to fight..." She said, her eyes looking all around her, but more blurred than usual. Yeah, she definitely had too much to drink. All she wanted was a shower and then sleep.
"Let's go," she said, beginning to walk towards the exit as she motioned her arm for Cas to follow, purse slung across her shoulder as she pushed past people to get to the exit. Evelyn was more than ready to go home and thankfully she had Cas to help her get there and given what had happened tonight, she was even more thankful for his presence.

━ i spread my wings and i learn how to FLY. ━ I think it's best I go home. I had one many to drink, Yes, please. I'm not in anyyyy condition to fight...
Castiel's worried blue eyes scanned over Evelyn's features, his brows furrowing in a concerned manner. So much like how a parent would look at their child. "You really do remind me of him." His words were mumbled more to himself as he watched her for a moment, recalling how many times he'd laid eyes on drunk Dean, whatever the reason was at the time. He had experienced the feeling twice. The first time was when he inhaled an entire bar after finding it, and the second happened not long after he lost his grace. At the time, he was a mere human, and just a couple of sips from an alcoholic beverage was enough to make his balance tip over. It was definitely a rather strange feeling. "Let's get you home, then." He said with a nod of his head following, knowing it would be best to take her home and make sure she entered the threshold safely. "You most certainly are not." That was Castiel's reply when she mentioned not being in any condition to fight. It was the perfect time for her enemies to strike, and he knew that all too well, so he was keeping his guard up.
Let's go,
"Coming," Castiel glanced one last time over at Claire just to make sure that she was doing okay before his attention drifted back to Evelyn, squeezing past a few people, mumbling a couple of 'sorry's when they huffed and puffed at the interruption or the tight fit. He eventually got out of the Grill, releasing a small sigh of relief that he was no longer surrounded by people from every direction.
He followed after Evelyn, just to make sure that her back was covered from any sudden attacks that could take them off guard. Castiel didn't want to risk it. Not only that, but he knew how fragile human lives were, even if she was a witch. She could still bleed and die. Unlike Castiel. "Uhm." Castiel began as he slowly took a few steps closer to drape his trench coat over her shoulders. "Here." He added a moment later. "It gets chilly at this time of the night, and I don't want you to catch a cold." Castiel stepped back again, one hand moving so that he could slowly unroll the sleeves of his dress shirt before buttoning it. He did the same with the other sleeve not long after. "Do you live far from here?" Castiel questioned once he was done with his little task, his eyes focused on the back of Evelyn's head before they slowly moved away to scan his surroundings for anything out of the ordinary, but he found nothing. Though he knew better than to let his guard down just because he didn't spot any imminent danger.

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN had to admit, it probably was not the smartest decision getting as drunk as she was, especially when she had her father's men after her. After what they had just did in a fully packed bar, there was no telling what they would be willing to do just to get to her. But had her father ordered them to bother her this much? Fuck she didn't know, she definitely wouldn't put it past her father to do so. He was as sadistic and manipulative as they come, she wouldn't put it past him to want to traumatize her in any way that he could, even if it were via third party henchmen. Whatever William Monet could do to make it known to her and anyone she cared about that he was the one in control, he would do it. Whatever it took for her to realize that she couldn't and wouldn't ever win, not really. Whatever victories she thought she had, she didn't really and Evelyn was beginning to realize that more and more and that absolutely terrified her to her core.
Was there anything she could truly do about it? Kill her father, maybe that would end it all. But hell, she didn't even know if she had the power to do it. Was she even strong enough to take him on? Right now definitely not, maybe not ever. While Evelyn was a strong witch for her age, she wasn't as powerful as her father who indulged himself in the dark arts. Dark magic was something else entirely and those that decided to use it found themselves to be more powerful. It's why her father had used it in the first place, because of the power it gave him. He liked how he felt when he used it and he had tried more than once to try and get her to try it out, to use it and see how it felt. To finally see things from his perspective, but she refused him time and time again. Every time she did he got angrier and angrier. Soon enough and he would snap, when that was she didn't know, but one thing she did know was that her father was not a patience man. By no means.
'Let's get you home, then.' Cas said to her as the two walked out of the bar, the brisk winter air hitting her skin. Damn did that coldness feel good against her flushed cheeks. Evelyn wrapped her arms around her body as she walked in the direction of her place, which wasn't that far from where she couldn't was, thankfully. Getting an apartment in town square had been a smart move on her part, made getting places that much easier, especially considering she couldn't exactly drive herself home right now in her current condition. Man she was drunk and the more she walked the drunker she felt. Cas was following closely behind her as she walked, probably to make sure no one snuck up on her and attacked her from behind. He truly was her guardian angel.
'Here. It gets chilly at this time of the night, and I don't want you to catch a cold.' Cas said to her as he draped his coat around her shoulders. Evelyn smiled and pulled the coat tighter around her body as to block out the cold wind. "T-thanks. It's freeeeezing outside." She said, slightly slurring her words as she walked along the sidewalk, coming closer to her apartment. They weren't that far from it and she was so eager to get inside out of the cold, maybe even take herself a nice, hot bath. 'Do you live far from here?' Cas asked her and she shook her head and pointed up ahead. "Nooooope! I have an apartment closeeee." She said, almost in a singing tone. Man was she regretting those shots she had taken, but it was too late to dwell on the past. All she could do now was try and make it home in one piece, where she was safe from unwanted visitors thanks to the protection spell she had placed on her apartment, making it so no one she didn't want to enter could.
'Evelyn Monet, we aren't finished with you.' A voice rang out in a taunting manner and Evelyn's eyes widened. She was in no condition to fight let alone use any magic, not in the state she was in. Instinctively she walked backwards away from where the voice was, actually bumping into Cas in the process as her head shot up to look at Cas, her eyes pleading. She wasn't one to always been this weak little damsel in distress, but in the drunken state she was in, there was no way she would be getting out of this situation without some help and she thankfully had Cas with her to do so.

━ i spread my wings and i learn how to FLY. ━ T-thanks. It's freeeeezing outside. Nooooope! I have an apartment closeeee.
Castiel nodded his head when Evelyn thanked him for lending her his trench coat. He barely felt any cold, so he wasn't exactly affected by how cold it was. "You're welcome." He frowned slightly when the younger mentioned that it was freezing outside. "It is." While he could not offer instant warmth, he could always make the suggestion to teleport both of them there into Evelyn's apartment, but it might wind up making her sick as the other had consumed enough alcohol to make her stomach all too fragile, so he settled for walking her with quickened steps so that she doesn't have to be stuck in the cold for too long. "That's good." At least she lived close by, so she won't have to be stuck in the cold for long. "We will be there in no time."
Castiel couldn't have been more wrong, as shortly after saying that, a voice interrupted them and made them both stop in their tracks. The voice was taunting, and it was clear within seconds just who they were. Castiel's eyes settled on Evelyn to find her already looking at him with a certain plea in those eyes. Evelyn was in no shape to fight her attackers, and so he gently placed his hand on her shoulder in an assuring manner that he wasn't going to leave her to fend for herself.
"I suggest you leave if you don't want to get hurt." There was a clear warning in the man's voice, a warning that Castiel did not heed as he moved to stand in front of the young witch instead. "You just won't listen, will you? Fine by me, more fun for me." The man stepped forward with a menacing grin resting on his lips. He threw a punch at Castiel, but his wrist was held within a tight grip that didn't relent no matter how hard he yanked. Castiel grabbed the man by his shirt and tossed him into the dark alleyway before he followed him in there, the sound of the man's screams echoed in the darkness of the alleyway, and then it stopped.
When Castiel emerged from the darkness of the alleyway, there was another individual sneaking up on Evelyn behind her back, but with his telekinesis, he was able to fling the man away from where the young witch was. It didn't take long for another individual to appear, and when his gun fired into Castiel's chest, the man barely looked hurt by it, even when there was blood already coloring his shirt. He placed his hand on the man's forehead, entering his mind with ease and when another individual appeared, the mind-controlled man began fighting him instead, causing the other to curse in surprise about being attacked by one of his own. "Evelyn?" Castiel's blue eyes moved to settle on the young witch. "Close your eyes." He advised, his eyes momentarily settling on the other attackers who soon joined, increasing in numbers slowly but surely. "Whatever happens, don't open them until I say, or you will lose your sight permanently."

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN was more than grateful for having met Cas as it made her feel safer knowing that she had an angel on her side. It was shocking still, that angels existed. But then again she couldn't say she was all that surprised given what else existed in this world. Witches, vampires, werewolves... so why not angels too? It opened up an entire world full of things for her, more than she had even anticipated. Evelyn knew that with this newfound knowledge that she would have to do some research, learn as much as she could about angels, heaven, hell, and whatever else there was out there, because there was a good chance she could use whatever and whomever to help take out her father once and for all. It was a long shot sure, but knowing what she did about Cas and what he's done so far... there was a good chance he could help her take out her father and rid him from her life once and for all. It was a pipe dream at most, but she felt good about this for the first time in a long time. For once, she felt like she had the upper hand on her father, which wasn't very often if ever.
Of course that thought evaporated the moment her and Cas came face to face with her father's thugs from earlier. They truly were relentless. Had they not learned their lesson from before? Apparently not. Pleading eyes turned to look at Cas as she was in no shape to fight or use her magic. The ground was spinning enough as it was. Thankfully, Cas didn't go anywhere as he gently placed his hand on her shoulder in a reassuring manner, which told her that he wasn't going to abandon her and leave her to fend for herself. Thank god because otherwise she was going to be royally screwed.
'I suggest you leave if you don't want to get hurt.' These guys were bold to take on an angel not once, but twice. They definitely hadn't learned their lesson from last time and Cas didn't even so much as flinch at his warning, instead moving to place himself in front of her as some sort of a human, well, angel shield. 'You just won't listen, will you? Fine by me, more fun for me.' The man said as he simply grinned at the two of them, before charging forward and attempting to throw a punch at Cas, except his efforts were futile because Cas had the guy's wrist in a death grip inches from his face. Evelyn watched from behind as Cas grabbed the man by his shirt and promptly flung him into the nearby alleyway before following him into the darkness.
Evelyn and the others stood in complete silence as the man's screams filled the air before they suddenly stopped altogether. All that was seen was Cas emerging from the shadows, she stood there, frozen in her spot. Before she knew what was happening, she heard the yelps from another from behind her and she quickly turned around to see him being flung away from her. The sound of a gun being fired caused her now to yelp and she turned around, eyes wide, as she saw that the guy had shot Cas, who looked completely unfazed. Evelyn stood there, as she watched Cas do something that made the guy fight his own man. What the hell had Cas done?
'Evelyn?' Evelyn's eyes perked up and stared at Cas as he said her name. 'Close your eyes. Whatever happens, don't open them until I say, or you will lose your sight permanently.' She didn't understand what that meant, but her eyes flickered to the men that had begun gathering, almost encircling the two of them. They were most definitely outnumbered, but she trusted Cas. Even though the two had just met, something about him made her trust, which was a rarity as she didn't trust others so easily, but with Cas she did. And so she simply nodded and shut her eyes tightly, placing her hands over her eyes as Cas instructed her to do. Whatever it was that Cas was going to do, she hoped it worked, because otherwise things were about to get a hell lot worse.
