━ i spread my wings and i learn how to FLY. ━ Castiel stood outside of the Grill, the music inside loud enough to make him frown a little bit, wondering how anyone could hear the other person in there. But then again, he assumed everyone in there wasn't there for useless chatter and filler conversations, so the loud music shouldn't disrupt them, really. They were mostly there to dance, enjoy the drinks, and the atmosphere. Blue eyes moved away from the entrance when a couple headed in, passing by him as they pressed their palms against the door and pushed it open, releasing the door once they were both inside. Castiel remained outside for the time being, his lips pressing together into a thin line before he finally took a few steps forward until he was in front of the door. He pushed the door open and once he was inside, he was swallowed by the warmth of the Grill that was crowded with a lot of people. Blue eyes searched for two people in particular, he knew that they were more than capable of protecting themselves and they do not need Castiel hovering over them like an overprotective parent, but Castiel couldn't help it sometimes.
Mystic Falls continuously proved itself to not be a safe place with countless reports of dead bodies found, cause of death shifting between something supernatural or a natural cause. Castiel simply did not want anyone he loved and cared for to fall in harm's way, so if it meant attending the blacklight party to keep an eye on both Claire and Ben, so be it. He looked down at the wristbands, their different colors standing for something he did not quite understand. He must have looked quite confused because someone looked over his shoulder at what he was looking at and explained what each one stood for. Castiel reached for the green glowstick before he awkwardly placed it on his wrist, frowning a little bit. "Am I supposed to balance this on my wrist the entire night? That does seem like quite the hassle." He turned to the woman who had helped him understand the meaning behind each color and she tilted her head at him before chuckling in disbelief before she gestured for him to pay attention as she reached for green glowstick for herself and slapped it on her wrist which made it automatically wrap around her wrist. "Oh." Castiel breathed out, his attention falling back to the glowstick before he did the same thing for himself, pleased to see that it worked. He gave her a nod of gratitude before he passed by her, blue eyes scanning his surroundings until they relaxed on the two people he came here for.
They seemed quite happy which seemed to loosen the tension collected in his shoulders a little bit. Castiel wasn't sure what to do now that he was certain they were both okay. He looked around him rather awkwardly, watching as bodies danced against one another, enjoying the night while it lasted. It was a rather fun atmosphere, but perhaps not cut out for an Angel of all people.
Castiel decided to approach the bar instead as he took a seat, his blue eyes making a quick scan of his surroundings. "I'll have an alcoholic beverage, please." The man gave him a rather odd look. "Any preference?" The bartender asked, in which Castiel replied back to with a shake of his head first. "No. Just any will do." He gave the other a quick nod and began prepping a drink for Castiel and once he was done, he rested it in front of the angel. "Thank you." Castiel wrapped his fingers around the glass, lifting it up to his lips so he could have an experimental sip, letting the liquor smoothly slide down his throat, accompanied by a light burn that did not seem to bother him all that much, truly. He looked over his shoulder for the umpteenth time to look at Claire and Ben, just to check on them before his attention rested in front of him again, content with staying here for the rest of the night, or well... Until the two of them decide to head back to their shared motel room, only then would Castiel be able to fully relax and take his mind off the endless possibilities that could take place if he kept his eyes away from them for too long.

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN had been in Mystic Falls for a few weeks or so now. After the incident with her father back in New York and with Andy now being back in the picture, she had a lot on her mind. Of course, all her issues all revolved around her dearest father who was hell bent on causing her nothing my misery. It was sickening and disheartening all at the same time because one way or another, he was still her father. But that was even a stretch as he had twisted into something more more sinister, to the point where she didn't recognize him anymore, that day in the coffee shop proved that much. The expression magic he had possessed had turned him into someone different, into a monster, the thing that parents told their children about at night in order to get them to go to bed faster. William Martineau was a scary story, one she was stuck living inside of. Everywhere she went she was constantly looking over her shoulder, afraid that when she turned around there would be her father waiting on her.
But she had to take things one step at a time or else she would drive herself completely insane out of fear and paranoia. But after what her father did, could anyone blame her? The one person who was supposed to take care of you choose magic instead of their blood, craved the power it held. She knew if her father ever got to her that he would want to take her magic and use it for himself, something she couldn't let him do. If he succeeded, there was no telling what he would do or become with that amount of magic in his possession. So, for now, her main priority besides trying to figure out a way to bring her friend Savannah back from the dead, was remaining hidden from her father. For now she had cast a protection spell, one that's sole purpose was to keep the person hidden from who they choose to remain hidden from. As long as she wore the necklace she had used in the spell, her father couldn't find her. At least, that's what she hoped.
As it was the beginning of summer, Evelyn had saw that the local bar and grill was throwing some sort of blacklight party. In desperate need of a distraction, Evelyn opted to attend, something she hadn't done since college. But booze and loud music was the kind of distraction she needed. Sitting at home, alone, wasn't doing her any good as her thoughts drifted to dark places - what would happen if her father found her mainly. But also her mind would flash back to the night she had been woken up in the middle of the night to find her friend's head literally served up on a platter with a note attached from daddy dearest. That image would be forever burned into her mind. But she knew that bringing back Savannah would be her first good deed she would do in this new town. Bringing her friend back would not be easy as bringing someone back from the other side required a great deal of magic, something she wasn't sure she had. But she would do whatever it took to bring her friend back. She owed her that much.
Entering into the venue she was immediately hit with the loud bass from the music, crowds of people dancing. As she entered, one of the workers asked which color wristband she needed "single," was all she said and they promptly slapped one of the colored bands on her wrist that symbolized just that. Making her way over to the painting booths, she had some designs painted onto her skin so she would blend in a little bit more. The last thing she wanted was to stand out, especially with her psychotic father after her. Once she was successfully painted up, Evelyn headed straight for the bar and took a seat next to a guy wearing a tan trench coat. A bit odd for a blacklight party, but she wasn't one to judge. As she sat down the bartender asked what she wanted. "Vodka soda please." She said, a simple enough drink and one the bartender wouldn't have any issues making. Bartenders liked simple drinks and she didn't like to cause any problems, so she often opted for a vodka soda when she ordered drinks.
As she waited on her drink her eyes drifted over to the male sitting next to her in that odd trench coat, looking as if he wanted to be anywhere but there. Honestly he looked out of place. "You know you're supposed to wear less clothes at these types of parties." She said, slightly joking of course, but she needed someway to strike up a conversation and get her mind off of the impending doom that was her future. What better way to do that than with a complete stranger?

━ i spread my wings and i learn how to FLY. ━ Castiel watched as the ice remained afloat in his drink, moving inside of the glass as it slowly but surely began to melt and with how stuffy the air felt inside the Grill, he had no doubt that it was going to melt very soon if he didn't consume his drink rapidly. He felt no buzz, even if it was just slight, and he doubted that was going to change as Angels did not get intoxicated like humans would. But still, it made him easily blend in with the other people as he felt no desire to stand out or make himself known. He simply wanted to pay close attention to Claire and Ben, to make sure both of them were alright.
You know you're supposed to wear less clothes at these types of parties.
Blue eyes moved away from the two of them to settle on the woman sitting next to him. His brows pinched together as momentary confusion painted itself across Castiel's face as he slowly looked down at his own clothes before he murmured a soft "Oh." So, that would explain the odd looks thrown his way while he was approaching the bar. He looked a little too formal for an occasion like this one. He had a feeling that Claire would have laughed if she saw him enter the blacklight party dressed in his usual attire. "I have nothing else to wear but this." Castiel revealed with a slow nod of his head following as his hand moved up to tug at the tie that he was wearing, unrelenting fingers continuously tugging until it became loose altogether, then he neatly folded it and put it in the pocket of his trench coat.
Castiel looked over at his companion not long after, blue eyes seeking hers. "How about now? Is it any better?" It really didn't change much, but at least now he looked a little less serious. "Admittedly I have never been to a party like this, so I wasn't too sure how much of my usual attire I should change." Castiel explained, his voice soon making itself known again. If he had known, he would have abandoned his trench coat or left his tie. Castiel soon wrapped his fingers around the glass, lifting it to his lips once more to take a quick sip from it before he gently placed it back down again. Castiel risked one more look over his shoulder at Ben and Claire before he looked ahead of him again now that he was certain they were both alright.

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
WITH everything that was going on in her life, having a little bit of fun seemed like a necessity. If she didn't at least try and have some fun every. now and then she knew she would drive herself truly crazy with worry about what her father was up to and the more important question: why. Why did he want to ruin her life as she knew it? Why was he choosing dark magic over his only child? It made no sense, but she knew how power could change a person and that's exactly hat happened to her father when he got a taste of expression magic. That feeling was unlike any other and while she never used that kind of magic herself, she had known others who had and hearing them speak on it made it incredibly tempting to dive straight into it, but she resisted, not wanting to fall into her father's trap, not wanting to lose a part of herself by dipping into dark magic completely. Light magic was everything to her, it's what made her, well, herself. Her father's sick agenda to take her magic and/or turn her into something unrecognizable was disheartening and honestly, terrifying.
But for one night, for tonight, she wouldn't let those thoughts get to her, she would have some fun for once and just let loose. She owed it to herself to do so. Besides, she was no closer to bringing her friend back and all she could do was hope her concealment spell held up to where her father wouldn't be able to find her, but knowing him... she wouldn't remain hidden for long, not as long as she would like. Striking up a conversation with a stranger wasn't something she did often, but like she mentioned, she needed the distraction. Hearing her comment on his clothes the male turned to look over at her, a slight confused look apparent across his features as he looked down at his clothes before looking over at her. 'I have nothing else to wear but this,' he mentioned to her, beginning to loosen his tie until it was off completely, shoving it hastily into his coat pocket. It seemed this party scene was definitely not his cup of tea. Truth be told he looked immensely out of place, then again, she felt out of place if she were being honest with herself.
After a few moments he looked over at her and asked if he looked any better. Before she could answer he explained how he had never been to a party quite like this before, which confirmed her earlier suspicions. Evelyn couldn't help but chuckle as she moved over a few seats so that she was right next to him, making sure to grab her drink in the process that the bartender had set down in front of her. "I can definitely tell this is out of your comfort zone." She said as she mimicked the guy and took a sip out of her drink before setting it back down onto the bar. Looking back over to her new acquaintance, she scanned him up and down, thinking on how she could help his attire situation. "I think if you take off your coat and roll up your sleeves it would help you look a little more.. in place." She said, hoping he would accept her suggestion, which she knew would honestly help him not stand out so much in his formal attire.
"By the way, my name is Evelyn." She said, introducing herself. The guy seemed innocent enough, didn't appear like he would be one of her father's man spies he had around to watch her, but she could never be too careful so she would definitely make sure to keep her guard up. Then again, she couldn't ever remember a time when she didn't have it up.

━ i spread my wings and i learn how to FLY. ━ I can definitely tell this is out of your comfort zone.
Castiel nodded his head slowly, knowing that he stood out like a sore thumb. He took a look around him, just to see what everyone else was wearing. They seemed to be in a casual attire, nothing too revealing or suffocating. It was a perfect balance, really. He almost envied them for finding their balance, almost. Castiel's eyes moved back to his companion, his blue eyes watching her as she mimicked what he had done and took a sip from her drink. He wondered briefly how her drink tasted like, if it would be something that Dean would order in a place like this, but he pushed the thought aside for now and looked ahead of him again, having learned from past mistakes that looking at people for too long made them uncomfortable.
I think if you take off your coat and roll up your sleeves it would help you look a little more.. in place.
Castiel looked down at his trench coat before he nodded his head slightly, trusting the woman and taking her advice. He reached to shrug off his trench coat, letting the material slide down his shoulders. Once it was off, he draped it over his lap so he could fold it before he eventually moved his left hand to his sleeve to begin rolling it up before he did the same with the other sleeve. He felt rather naked without his coat or tie, but he understood that this was needed so he could melt into his surroundings without standing out too much. He didn't want to alert Claire or Ben to his presence, knowing that they both wanted to be independent. But that was Castiel's problem, wasn't it? He cared a little too much and it showed.
It showed in how he couldn't leave them on their own for too long. "I feel rather ━ exposed." Castiel admitted out loud as his brows furrowed. He looked down at his attire for a moment before his blue eyes eventually moved to settle on his companion. "Do I look any better or am I still standing out too much?" Castiel questioned with a slight tilt of his head following. "I have nothing left to take off if I still look odd," Castiel added a moment later with a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
"Nice to meet you, Evelyn. My name is Castiel, I'm an a━" angel of the lord, he almost said. Claire had warned him one too many times about revealing himself to ordinary people. He was told it could be a little too daunting, especially to non-believers. "Accountant." He finished instead, the lie leaving an oddly bitter taste on his tongue which he washed away with another sip of his drink. "Are you perhaps new in town?"

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN's life was never simple. Never normal. From the moment she had been told about her magical abilities her life had never been normal. She was a witch. One born to hundreds before her, a legacy of sorts. She sure as hell didn't feel like a legacy, not after what her father had done. She was doing everything in her power to not turn out like her father. Evelyn was more like her father than she would care to admit. She knew it would come down to her using his own tactics against him in order to take him down. She knew this would all end one way, with him dying at her hand. But at what cost? Her magic? Any and all relationships she had? Her life? She had told herself time after time that she had to do whatever it took in order to take her father down. That he had to die for everyone to be safe. The world had to be rid of William Monet once and for all, no matter what it cost.
But she wouldn't worry about that right now. She was at a party and honestly, being at this blacklight party was just the kind of distraction she needed, especially with everything going on with her father. Ever since New York she really hadn't had the chance to kick back and have any fun. Relaxing and letting loose wasn't exactly something she could just do without consequence, not with her psychotic father after her. But maybe, for just this once, she could do just that. It was worth a shot anyways and if it came down to it she would defend herself if need be. As much as her father thought her to be a weakly, she very much wasn't. She was his daughter after all, which meant she wielded the very same power and skill he did.
Turning her attention towards her newfound companion, she watched as he took her advice, shrugging off the tan trench coat and proceeded to roll up the sleeves. That seemed to help quite a bit and he stood out a little bit less. 'I feel rather ━ exposed.' The guy said and she definitely could tell that's how he felt. It seemed as if this was his only choice of wardrobe, which made her wonder why he was even at this party to begin with if this wasn't his type of scene. Evelyn then asked if he looked any better, if her suggestion had helped him blend in a little bit more. "I think you look much better but something is missing..." She said, looking him over and then she knew just what he needed: some glow in the dark paint. Grabbing some that was near she turned to the guy and held up a paintbrush. "I think you need a little bit of paint and then you're all set. What do ya say?" She said, waving the paint brush in the air, a grin spread across her lips as she waited to see if he would be up for being painted. If he wanted to blend in, painting up was the way to go for sure. It was, after all, a blacklight party.
Hearing him introduce himself back she rose an eyebrow at his name, Castiel was a rather odd name she would admit. "Nice to meet you, Cas," she said, instead deciding to shorten his name. A nickname never hurt anybody and it seemed this was the start of some kind of friendship so why not. Hearing him say he was accountant she couldn't help but chuckle, she could definitely tell he did some kind of job involving an office setting. Taking another sip of her drink, Evelyn listened as he asked if she were new to town and she nodded. "I am. I just moved here not to long ago from New York City." She explained, finishing off her drink entirely. Waving the hand that wasn't holding the paint brush towards the bartender, she tapped the counter and pointed at her and Cas's empty glasses, signaling to pour them another. "What about you? Are you from around here?" She asked curiously. Evelyn wondered if he was from here or had just moved here like she had. She would admit, it would be nice to have someone to show her around town. Hell, it would just be nice to have a friendly face to be around for once. Friends were definitely something she needed. The last thing she needed was to be sulking all alone in her apartment all the time. God knows that wasn't good for her anxiety and paranoia.

━ i spread my wings and i learn how to FLY. ━ I think you look much better but something is missing... I think you need a little bit of paint and then you're all set. What do ya say?
Castiel looked down at his attire, wondering what else he could possibly do or change, but then Evelyn's words reached his ears and his attention soon shifted to settle on her once more. His eyes moved to look at the paint brush, eyeing it with a little bit of skepticism in his gaze before he nodded his head, knowing that something as simple as a paint brush can't actually hurt him. "Very well then." He said with another nod of his head following. He made no move to take the paint brush from Evelyn's hold as he turned slightly so that he could face her, wanting her to do it instead because he had no idea what to paint on himself. He had never done such a thing before and the concept felt alien-like for him.
I am. I just moved here not to long ago from New York City. What about you? Are you from around here?
Castiel's blue eyes relaxed on Evelyn once more, listening to her as she talked. He nodded his head slowly to let her know that he was listening to her. His eyes momentarily left her to settle on his refilled drink before he lifted it up to his lips, taking a few sips, letting the taste of the liquid linger on his tongue momentarily before swallowing it in time for him to hear Evelyn's question.
"I'm not from here, originally. Where I am from is far away from Mystic Falls." He revealed, his voice still even. His eyes momentarily moved to settle on Claire and Ben, watching the two of them as they had their fun which seemed to ease a lot of Castiel's worries. "But I suppose this town is becoming more like my second home." Home. A concept that felt so foreign to him now. Once upon a time, Heaven was considered his home, but look at him now.
He'd changed quite a bit from how he used to be like. Now, he knew that the world was filled with people trying their hardest to do what's right in a world where it's far too easy for you to do something wrong. Now, he's less judgmental and less harsh on humans. Now, he sees them for who they really are. Flawed, yes. But who isn't? Even beings that are supposed to be perfect are flawed, too. Take angels for example. Castiel looked over at Evelyn once again, though there was something that caught his attention in his peripheral vision. It was something that made a small frown tug at his features. Three suspicious looking individuals entered the safety of the Grill, looking around as if they are trying to spot somebody. He had dealt with enough dangerous individuals to know how to spot them in a crowd and those seemed like they were up to no good.
He watched as they came closer and closer to where his companion was and his frown deepened. "Evelyn." Castiel's voice soon made itself known as he watched them draw closer. "Are you perhaps being followed?"

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN's grin grew wider as Cas agreed to let her paint him up. This was definitely what he needed to blend in even more. It seemed as though he wanted her to do it as he made no move to grab the paint brush from her, instead turning to face her straight on. Dipping into the paint Evelyn got straight to work, making various marks and stripes over his forearms, some along his neck, and then finally a few finishing touches on his face, nothing drastic. She had done similar patterns on herself when she had first entered as she did't want to have to go home and spend forever in the shower washing it all off of her body. A few minutes and she had finished painting Cas up and she set the paintbrush into the paint can before turning to look back at Cas and at her handy work. "Not too shabby I'd say! Now you definitely will blend in." She mused as she grabbed a hold of her refilled drink that the bartender had set in front of her when she had been paining up Cas. Okay, she had to admit, meeting someone at this party made all the difference as she could feel herself begin to loosen up and it felt good.
Crossing her legs over one another, drink in one hand, she listened as Cas explained how he wasn't from here either, was actually from a good distance aways from Mystic Falls. Hearing him say this place was becoming like a second home to him made her smile, that gave her hope that perhaps this could be like her home too. She had called New York her home but that had been abruptly ruined. Now all that New York brought was terrible nightmares and pain. "That's nice. I'm hoping this place becomes my home too. It seems like a nice enough town anyways." She said, sipping diligently on her second drink, which she was sure would become a third and a fourth soon enough. If she were to truly loosen up, she would need more than just two drinks.
This felt nice, to relax and have some fun for once. All she could hope was that she could continue to have it. But it would seem that she would speak too soon as she saw Cas's expression change to one of relaxation to one more serious. And then she sobered up real quickly once she heard Cas's next words. 'Evelyn. Are you perhaps being followed?' Evelyn set her drink down onto the bar as her anxiety levels began to rise. Slowly she turned toward where Cas had been looking and saw three individuals enter the bar, the same individuals she had seen following her just this past week. "Shit." She whispered as she turned quickly around to face Cas.
Of course, she couldn't catch a break and it seemed her father was beginning to amp up his little villain story because she had more of his puppets on her tail. So this was his way of saying 'I'm watching you,' by having his puppets continue to follow her around, except something was off about this particular bunch, they weren't like the rest who for the most part kept their distance. No, these three have made it known to her that they were following her around. Every so often they would whistle or make baseless threats toward her. Something was definitely off about this entire situation. It was never ending, truly. God she just wanted to have some fun for once, to relax and escape from the world. But she couldn't even do that, couldn't even go to a damn party without being followed.
"Yes I am being followed. Those guys have been following me for the past week. God I can't even have one damn day of peace..." She muttered and then knew that she didn't want to bring her new friend into her mess. As she knew it was only a matter of moments before they would be next to her she quickly stood to her feet. "I don't want to drag you into my mess. It was nice meeting you Cas..." She said, kicking herself that she had her entire night ruined by more of her father's minions. God she wanted them to just fuck off, to leave her alone, but they seemed hell bent on continuing their little charade.

━ i spread my wings and i learn how to FLY. ━ Not too shabby I'd say! Now you definitely will blend in.
Castiel watched as Evelyn painted on him, trying his best not to move around or cause any disturbance. Though when she finished, he looked down at what Evelyn had done, releasing a small hum as he took it all in before his blue eyes moved up to settle on Evelyn, the edges of his lips quirking up in the faintest hint of a smile. "Thank you." He said in a soft voice as he eyed the painting on his skin for a little bit of time, feeling tempted to touch it but he stopped himself, knowing that it was not dry yet and the last thing he wanted was to mess it all up, so he kept his hands to himself for the time being. "It's quite nice." He added a moment later, the compliment was genuine as he nodded his head once.
That's nice. I'm hoping this place becomes my home too. It seems like a nice enough town anyways.
Castiel was rather quiet as he listened to Evelyn, nodding his head once. "I hope so, as well." He offered with a gentle smile on his lips. Evelyn seemed like a good person. She seemed kind and the more he talked, the more he believed that without any hesitation. The world needed more people like her and that's for certain. "It would be a shame not to see you again." He added a moment later, his words laced with kindness as his blue eyes remained fixed on her until the moment he noticed that something was off and it was more than enough to make him tense up a little bit, aware of the men closing the distance between them slowly but surely.
Shit. Yes I am being followed. Those guys have been following me for the past week. God I can't even have one damn day of peace... I don't want to drag you into my mess. It was nice meeting you Cas...
Evelyn's reaction was more than enough to confirm his suspicion as he watched those suspicious individuals before his eyes moved to settle upon Evelyn again when her voice reached his ears. "God can't help you." Castiel offered unhelpfully at first. "He's– on a break." He added a moment later, offering her a sympathetic expression shortly after. "But I can, Evelyn. You don't have to worry about protecting me." Castiel didn't want her to live her life in constant fear or having to look over her shoulder with every second. That wouldn't be living, would it?
"Let me help–" His sentence was soon interrupted by a man's voice, angry and filled with hatred. "You're an awfully difficult person to track." Castiel's attention drifted to settle on the man before he moved to stand in front of Evelyn, shielding him from the man's penetrating glare. "You should leave." Castiel warned him, which caused his two friends to draw out their knives.
"Move the hell out of the way or we'll make you." The man gritted through his teeth as he took a threatening step forward but Castiel remained exactly where he was, barely flinching. "In the words of a close friend, bite me." Those words were certainly more than enough to offend the man who raised his knife to attack Castiel, although the angel was quick to avoid the attack and when his friend attempted to stab him in the abdomen, Castiel grasped his wrist and twisted it until he heard a sickening sound of the bone breaking under his relentless grasp. The knife dropped from his grasp as the loud music easily muffled his pained scream. With his free hand, he tossed the other attacker at the wall with a single push of his hand against the man's chest. When he turned around, the man who threatened him lodged his knife into Castiel's chest, expecting the man to go down but Castiel remained standing as he reached down to pull the knife out of his chest, blood painting the blade and dripping down onto the floor but the angel barely looked fazed.
"What━ What the hell are y━you?" The man breathed out, stuttering his way through his sentence. Castiel reached out to grasp a fistful of the man's shirt, tugging him closer as his blue eyes poured into his black ones. "Her friend. Now, if you so much as touch a hair on her head, I will make you regret it." Castiel's eyes began to glow which made the other's eyes widen before he quickly clenched them shut out of pure fear. "Leave before my kindness runs out." Castiel shoved him away from himself and watched as he scrambled to leave the Grill, his friends rushing behind him. Castiel's eyes slowly moved to settle back on Evelyn, offering her a sympathetic smile. "I'm sorry, Evelyn. But I doubt what I did will be effective for long. They might send more after you, but you don't have to deal with them alone, if you do want my help."

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN knew this would never end until he was dead. To actually go through with killing her own father. Some would say it's brave for what she was going to have to do, to safe herself and others alike. She wouldn't say it was brave for doing what she was going to do, more like an act of survival. When it came time for her to 'battle' with her father, she wouldn't hesitate, she made that promise to herself earlier on. She would act first and think of the questions later, wouldn't think of the consequences of using her magic to kill another, but this wasn't some innocent human, this was a powerful warlock who had succumbed to dark magic and not just any dark magic, but expression magic. The kind of magic that was so dark that is twisted and turned the user into something unrecognizable. It turned them into a monster and that had been the very case with her father. He was nothing more than a monster.
It was exhausting trying to get away from these relentless sons of bitches. Ever since arriving in Mystic Falls it seemed she was being followed, her father growing more and more impatient the more she denied him. He had sent her messages left and right, saying he had found her. Her worst fear and she didn't know how many times she would have to reject him for him to get it through his thick skill that she wanted absolutely no part of him or his crusade. As far as she was concerned he wasn't her father any longer, that title had been stripped from him the moment he decided to abandon her, choosing power and dark magic over his only child. It was sickening and pained her deeply. But that was just how her life had been handed to her and there was nothing she could do about it. Both of her parents were gone, lost to this cruel world because of dark magic. The magic and power her father continued to grow, more and more causing him to become something he wasn't. Power was known to corrupt even the purest of hearts and her father had been no exception, turning into something so sadistic that it made her stomach churn.
Her fun night had turned into a horror story, being ruined yet again because of her father incessant need for control. Evelyn was ready to get as far away from her new friend as possibly, wanting him not to get involved in her mess. She wouldn't drag anyone else down with her. This was her battle and her battle alone, but it seemed Cas had other ideas and she listened how he said how God couldn't help her, but that he could. "What?" She exclaimed not understanding and before she could flee or hear anymore explanations from Cas, the men had arrived. 'You're an awfully difficult person to track.' Evelyn's eyes widened as they stared down at her in a threatening manner. In that moment she was terrified at how far they would go, especially n a public place. Evelyn wanted to be anywhere else but there in that moment, but before she could even think of running, Cas suddenly stepped in front of her, shielding her from her father's minions.
They didn't like that too much.
Evelyn watched behind Cas's tall figure as the men whipped out knives, telling Cas to move or else they would make him move. "Cas, just go, please." She begged, urging her friend to not get in this middle of this, but Cas stood his ground, instead opting to tell them all to bite him and that seemed to set them off because they suddenly charged forward, opting to fight Cas. In the midst of the chaos she wondered why no one was intervening, but then she realized the music was so blatantly loud no one would be able to hear the commotion going on. As the men fought Cas, she was roughly shoved aside, almost tripping and falling to the ground but caught herself, just in time to watch as Cas grab a hold of one of their wrists and twist it, causing a sickening popping south to emit from his wrist. Evelyn's eyes widened, Cas had just broken that guy's wrist, with one hand. What the hell was he?
With his other free hand, Cas had pushed the other guy away, and then her green eyes widened as she saw the leader of the bunch charge at Cas. "Cas, watch out!" She yelled, the music drowning out her warning as she watched in horror as the guy plunged the knife into Cas, except, nothing happened. It was as if the knife that was plunged into his chest was nothing more than a nuisance. Evelyn couldn't believe what she was seeing, watching as Cas casually pulled the knife from his chest, looking rather unfazed by it all. It seemed the men were just as frazzled at the turn of events as one of them asked what the hell Cas was and she watched as his eyes glowed a bright blue as he threatened them, telling them all to leave while they still could.
It didn't take much convincing as before she knew it the three had took off running, pushing past people as they exited the building. Evelyn stood there in what could only be described as shock and fear of what had just transpired. Green eyes met Cas's blue ones as she listened to him explain how what he had just did probably wouldn't deter them and that they might be back. That much she knew was true. "I need a drink." She said as she told the bartender to pour her something a little stronger than what she had. Slowly sitting down she looked over at Cas, truly dumbfounded. "Cas... what the hell are you? That knife - I mean it didn't even faze you." God she had so many questions. Why the hell couldn't she just have a normal night for once? Why couldn't she just have fun, let loose, have some drinks, and make-out with a stranger like any other normal person her age? It wasn't fair.
Life wasn't fair.

━ i spread my wings and i learn how to FLY. ━ Castiel realized belatedly that he should kept the comment about God to himself because it was a rather depressing one, but then again, it might just come off as Castiel sounding like he was not a believer of the existence of God. So, he made no move to fix what he'd said and just offered Evelyn a rather apologetic smile before his eyes moved away from her to settle about the drawing threat, noticing how they were getting closer and closer to where he was standing which made him tense up a little bit, anticipating a fight. He had been with the Winchesters enough and they had taken care of many creatures and threatening individuals in the past to know when someone was aching for a fight, when they were being threatening and unforgiving. But Castiel felt no particular fear and he didn't look like he was going to leave any time soon, he simply could not let them reach Evelyn or harm her in any way. Every human life was precious and he quickly realized just how kind Evelyn was. The world would be a much darker place without her in it.
The way she advised him to look out so he doesn't get hurt did reach his ears, but the knife had already been lodged in his chest. There was no pain on his features when it happened and once he took it out, the man in front of him was quick to realize that Castiel was no ordinary man and when his threat reached their ears, they all scrambled to leave the Grill. His eyes momentarily searched for Claire and Ben to make sure they were unharmed and thankfully, they seemed rather okay. He was, for once, thankful for the existence of those loud and big speakers.
His eyes moved back to Evelyn, his head tilting slightly to the side when she mentioned something about needing a drink. It was a statement that tugged at the corner of his lips as he watched her. "My apologies. You just reminded me of a friend." Castiel explained the meaning behind his smile, not wanting to scare the other off, but then again, he assumed that the sight of blood on his once-clean dress shirt was already doing the trick for him.
Castiel moved to claim his seat again, releasing a small sigh as his hands soon came to rest on his thighs, his posture a tad bit awkward as his lips parted and closed, wanting to explain what had happened but then Evelyn's question reached his ears. He turned his head to look at her properly, his blue eyes scanning her face momentarily as he seemed to really consider whether he wanted to tell her or not, but then again, what could he possibly say that would explain how the stab wound had healed so quickly or how he felt no pain even though he should be in a critical condition by now. Lying would simply do him no good, but would Evelyn be able to accept the fact that he is an angel? "I'm an angel. That's why I didn't get hurt when I got stabbed," he explained. His attention momentarily left Evelyn so he could look down at where he had been stabbed and even though there was red staining his shirt, there was no wound. "Are you okay?' Castiel questioned as his brows furrowed together, his blue eyes relaxing on her once again.
Castiel wanted to help her, knowing that Sam and Dean would have done exactly the same thing if they had been the ones placed in his position. "Why were they after you?'

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN was truly at a loss of words in that moment. Of course this would happen to her. Of course one of the few people she had met in this town was supernatural. Could she not meet normal people? Was all she attracted destruction and chaos? Hell, she didn't want to hope so but that was how it was beginning to feel like. Pain and suffering followed her everywhere she went and she had her father to thank for that, for turning her life into utter hell. She couldn't even have one night to herself. One night to relax, let loose, and have some fun. She was at a blacklight party for fucks sake and she couldn't even enjoy it for more than a few minutes. Literally she had not even been inside this place for more than a half hour before things turned south. Nothing was going her way and now that she thought about it, Cas was right.
God couldn't help her and she didn't think anyone could.
Thankfully the bartender set a drink down in front of her. Evelyn didn't even ask what it was, opting to simply pick up the glass and toss the contents back, feeling the burn hit the back of her throat as she set the glass down. All she got was weird looks from the bartender who asked if she wanted another and she only nodded as she turned to look over at Cas who was smiling. What the hell was he smiling for? And before she could ask just that, he apologized and explained how it was because she had reminded him of a friend. He must have some depressing friends if what she had just done reminded him of them.
Shortly after and Cas finally sat back down, sighing as he did so and she awaited anxiously for him to start explaining, starting with what the hell kind of creature he was for a knife not to faze him in even the slightest. A full minute passed before Cas spoke and what he said was not what she had been expecting. At all. Green eyes widened at his statement, of his answer to her question. "Did you just say an angel?" She asked, truly perplexed in that moment in time. Never in her life has she thought angels were real. She had always assumed that they were myths, nothing more than a bible school story and if she weren't a supernatural being herself, she wouldn't have been inclined to believe him.
But she did.
Evelyn's entire world had just changed with knowing of the existence of angels, which led her to believe that demons were real as well. She shouldn't be too surprised given her predicament, witches, werewolves, and vampires were real so why not angels and demons too? Evelyn was so entranced with her thoughts that she had almost missed Cas asking if she were okay. What a loaded question that truly was and she couldn't help but let out a humorless chuckle, just as the bartender set her next drink down in front of her. Raising the glass to her lips she took a small sip from it before setting it down. "Oh I'm just peachy," she responded in an incredibly sarcastic tone. Evelyn was anything but okay and hadn't been for a long time now. Okay wasn't in her dictionary anymore and wouldn't ever be until her father was out of the picture. Evelyn was just glad those guys left as they hadn't been brave enough to continue the fight, not when a literal angel was standing right next to her. It seems that even they had their limits where an angel was involved. Regardless, she was away from them and she could actually breathe. If she made it to her apartment later she would be safe as she had spelled all entrances to where only certain people could enter, so if they tried anything they wouldn't be able to make it past the front door.
This time it was her who sighed as he asked her why they were after her. Where did she even begin? God she was glad she had met Cas when she had as there was no telling what those men were going to do to her once they got to her, thankfully they never got the chance. Given as though Cas was an angel and was involved in the supernatural world, she knew she could trust him, especially considering he had just saved her, even with the two only having just met. Although she did not want to get him involved in all this mess, she just had just by how Cas had protected her. She also knew there was a chance Cas would be curious and would want some answers, so it was best to be as transparent as possible, especially because he was literally an angel of the lord. She couldn't exactly lie to a freaking angel.
"They are followers of my father. A very powerful warlock who dabbles in dark magic and is hell-bent on my utter destruction. He has been sending his puppets after me ever since I arrived to town..." She explained, hoping that would be enough of an explanation to satisfy his curiosity, although she knew it probably wouldn't be, so there was a good chance he would press her for more answers. But honestly, Evelyn didn't want to tell him much else as the last thing she wanted was for Cas to get hurt because of her, if that were even possible, but knowing her father, it probably was. But even then, she couldn't drag another person into this mess. She just couldn't, no matter how powerful.

━ i spread my wings and i learn how to FLY. ━ Did you just say an angel?
He nodded his head once at Evelyn's question, confirming his earlier statement. "Yes." There came a verbal confirmation shortly after, his eyes focusing ahead of him again, expecting to hear her claim that it was impossible, but nothing came and soon, he came to the realization that she wasn't going to deny his words which seemed to fill him with a sense of calmness as his shoulders sagged, relieved that he didn't have to explain himself or his existence once more. "You took that better than most people." Castiel pointed out shortly after, relieved that Evelyn seemed to have an open-mind about the whole thing.
Oh I'm just peachy,
"You━" Castiel began, his brows furrowing slightly as he inspected her face with a slightly tilted head. "Do not look peachy." He added a moment later as his blue eyes seemed to scan over Evelyn, thousands of questions in his eyes but he kept quiet about every single one and opted to push them aside, for now. It seemed to click for Castiel that her comment was a rather sarcastic one than a truthful one and his expression showed the moment it all clicked for him as he released a small 'oh' under his breath before he nodded his head in an understanding manner. He did not blame her in the slightest for not being okay, it was a rather unpleasant situation for Castiel as well, but the angel had grown accustomed to violence and there were a lot of times where he fought, either his own brothers or sisters or other beings that posed as a threat to him and the Winchesters. "I'm sorry you're going through this."
They are followers of my father. A very powerful warlock who dabbles in dark magic and is hell-bent on my utter destruction. He has been sending his puppets after me ever since I arrived to town...
There was a frown pulling at his features as he listened to Evelyn, the edges of his lips tugging down slightly. He had no doubt that the man won't stopped until he is stopped. "Why does he want to destroy you? Did something happen?" Castiel questioned, his eyes focusing on Evelyn once more as more questions popped in his head, knowing that this would be the first thing that the Winchesters would do. Ask questions, learn more about the current situation and then figure out a solution later. That's what he planned on doing right now, too. He couldn't turn a blind eye to this and he doubted that Evelyn's father will stop any time soon.

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
HEARING Cas confirm that he was in fact, an angel, made her eyes widen ever so slightly. So it was true, there were angels after all, which implied the existence of God. How ironic, he didn't seem to care or bother to be around in her lifetime. Her life ever since her mother's infidelity had been complete and utter hell as after that point her father had taken a turn for the worse. Ever since then she hadn't had peace. Until he was gone, until his tyranny finally ended would she have even an ounce of peace, even if it were only temporary. At least she would have found the peace she had so desperately craved. Evelyn hadn't known peace since her father turned to dark magic. After her mother had cheated on her father she knew he would never be the same and he never was. From that point on he had turned into something indescribable, something so unrecognizable that it sent chills down her spine. William Monet was a monster and he needed to be put down before he caused any more damage than he already had.
If that were even possible as he had already caused so much damage as it was. First it was killing her friend because she knew too much and threatened to expose him and his plans, and then it was sending his men after her day after day and for what? To send her a message that she would never truly be able to escape him no matter what she did? What was the end game here? None of this made any sense. She knew her father wanted her to join him in his little twisted crusade. Join the dark side and all that, but he had to know that wasn't ever going to happen. Nothing he said or did would ever get her to join him. He would quite literally have to kill her first, which she had a feeling that he would do just that in order to prove a point. To show to everyone how he wasn't above killing his own blood, that he would do whatever it meant to gain power, to be on top. Wipe away any competition and disobedience from his presence once and for all and that included his own daughter who time and time again refused him. It was only a matter of time before he had enough and came for her.
'You took that better than most people.' Hearing Cas's comment made her chuckle as she took another sip out of her drink. "Considering I'm a witch and quite literally live in the supernatural world, hearing that angels exist doesn't exactly surprise me all that much." She explained and while she hadn't believed before, she sure as hell did now. Revealing what she was to Cas didn't matter at this point as he had told her what he was, trusted her enough with that information so why shouldn't she return the favor? It was only fair and would make more sense why her father was after her once she explained her story further. Being a witch was key to her story.
Evelyn raised an eyebrow as Cas explained how she didn't look peachy, not exactly picking up on her sarcastic tone until a few moments later. "I take it angels aren't accustomed to sarcasm?" She questioned jokingly, smirking slightly at her rebuttal. Honestly she was just trying to lighten the mood a bit, but given what they both just went through she knew that would be difficult, especially with having to explain to Cas why those men were after her, why her father wanted to kill her - or take her magic, whichever came first. So when he said how he was sorry this was happening to her she merely shrugged, used to it by now. Ever since New York this had been constant, which is why she had spelled her apartment in the first place, for protection.
And there was the question she had been waiting for, Cas wanting her to elaborate further. She figured as such. Pulling her blonde hair up into a messy ponytail she let out a deep breath of relief, one she didn't know she had been holding in as she prepared to tell Cas her story, on why her father was after her. "At first I was under the assumption he wanted me to be like him, to use dark magic. But he's become so twisted, so sinister, that I am starting to think that he would rather I be dead than take no for an answer. My father hates being told no." It was disheartening to say that out loud, but it was the damn truth. Her father would much rather her be dead than be told no. Proving his point was his ultimate goal, something he craved besides power that he held. William Monet truly was a monster in human skin.
"I really wish I knew what he was planning, what all of this is about. It can't all be about getting me to join him, there's gotta be something more, something worse at play than anyone realizes..." And she didn't know what that was and it scared the hell out of her. The only person who knew was her dead friend and she was dead no thanks to her father and she was no closer to bringing her friend back than she was at figuring out her father's plan. She was at a dead end so it seemed. Evelyn had no clue what the hell to do next and it was frustrating her beyond relief.

━ i spread my wings and i learn how to FLY. ━ Considering I'm a witch and quite literally live in the supernatural world, hearing that angels exist doesn't exactly surprise me all that much.
"I understand." Castiel nodded his head once, his blue eyes moving to settle on Evelyn once again, watching her quietly for a few moments before he eventually moved his gaze away from her so he could pin his gaze ahead of him once more, letting silence stretch between the two of them for a moment or two as he gathered his thoughts, the gears in his head shifting and turning. "This world it's━" Castiel paused as he straightened his back, his hands clasped together, fingers intertwined. "Filled with a variety of creatures, it's best to keep an open mind about it all." Or else it would just drive you insane as you scramble to understand all the different species that exist in the world. It would offer you a peace of mind to simply accept their existence without uttering words of disbelief left and right.
I take it angels aren't accustomed to sarcasm?
"It's still a little bit hard for me to pick up on the━ cues." Castiel explained, his voice remaining calm as his shoulders lifted and dropped subtly in a shrug. "Despite the fact that I spend most of the time with a man whose second language is sarcasm." There was a fond smile that tugged at his lips as he said these words. At first, it truly confused him because he simply understood nothing of what the older Winchester was referring to, especially his references that had to do with movies or cartoons.
At first I was under the assumption he wanted me to be like him, to use dark magic. But he's become so twisted, so sinister, that I am starting to think that he would rather I be dead than take no for an answer. My father hates being told no. I really wish I knew what he was planning, what all of this is about. It can't all be about getting me to join him, there's gotta be something more, something worse at play than anyone realizes...
Castiel was quiet as he listened to Evelyn as she talked more about her father, his eyes squinting a little bit as the edges of his lips dipped down in a small frown. What a monster. Her father was no ordinary man. He was a monster and monsters need to be stopped. "It must be scary for you... Not knowing what he's planning." Castiel sympathized as he finally unclasped his hand to reach out to wrap his fingers around the glass. He lifted it up to his lips, taking a quick sip before he gently placed the glass down. "I can help you, Evelyn." Castiel offered, his blue eyes settling on her once again.
"I want to help you." Castiel added a moment later so she would know that he's not doing this because he feels sorry for her, but because he actually wants to help her. "You shouldn't have to go through this on your own. So allow me to help you."
