The Three Musketeers

The son of two B-list stars Gage grew up fully aware that his parents had never managed to climb any higher up the ladder in Hollywood than sci-fi TV shows, the sort that ran in syndication everywhere but nobody ever took seriously. He was also fully away that his parents’ marriage wasn’t born of the fact that they always seemed to end up on the same shows together, usually roped into playing couples thanks to their chemistry. The chemistry was there, sure, but the thing that had brought the two of them together in the start was the fact that they were both from strong covens. Rare in LA but his mom’s family had lived in California for close to a hundred years, his father’s coven arriving from Jamaica after the second World War, offering up a different form of witchcraft than the local covens were used to. Gradually the covens saw the sense in linking the two covens together with a marriage. It was luck that Gage’s parents didn’t end up stuck in a loveless marriage because of it.

In a way it was luck that he’d inherited what they were too, always bearing the knowing that one day he would end up leader of the coven, but not knowing that eventually he was going to be using that magic to get one of his best friends back.

Gage grew up in LA, splitting his time between the coven and the group of other B-list stars his parents had always been tightly enmeshed with. While their parents were networking, drinking and partying in ways the gossip mags were sure to see, their kids ran together almost like a pack. They were always down on the beaches in LA, escaping the definitely non-watchful eye of the string of assistants and babysitters their parents set on them. It was amongst this group that Gage would meet Kace and Ronni. Both had drifted into the group around age 8 when both of their mothers had drifted into his parents’ little group.

For years they spent their time surfing, only leaving the beach when they had to for school or when they were being dragged home to sleep or put on another dog and pony show. Gradually the three grew close and by their late teens they were a tight little knot at the centre of the pack. By then the group had taken to partying as much as anything else, bed hopping rather than settling into relationships with anybody, drinking down on the beach until late. More often than not it was Gage, Kace and Ronni who revolved around each other, never committing, but the closest to love out of them all, the two of them both being bisexual. When time came for college the three of them all ended up at UCLA – known as the Three Musketeers they remained close through those four years. Gage was aiming for the pro surf circuit and was good enough to make it too – whether this worked out for him in the end is up to the player.

A few years after graduation the owner of a surf bar they’d all been going to for years had passed. In his will Bodhi left the bar to Gage and Kace, knowing how close they were and trusting them with the place that had become a hub for them all. Together Gage and Kace ran the bar, continuing that no strings relationship that they always had done. For a few years it worked well, they cleared the place up, started making a name for it outside of the surfers it had been a mecca for before.

Then Kace’s brother came home with PTSD from his military service and in an attack killed Kace. Gage was devastated. The person closest to him had died tragically. For months he has tried to cope with his grief but as time has gone on Gage has grown more determined to get Kace back if he can. Hearing from Kace’s mom that her murderous son was now living in a small town in Mystic falls Gage has headed there to see if he can use what he is to get Kace back by resurrecting him.

I would love for Gage and Kace to pick back up their on and off relationship. Although, with what Kace has been through, it will be quite some time before Kace is ready to slip into any sort of commitment – he’s going to have some major issues to work through after all that has happened.

Ronni is the third member of the Musketeers. More of her history is open than Gage’s (as Gage is the central part of Kace’s return to life).

She moved to LA with her mom when she was 7 or 8. Her mom had gotten a role in a cheesy daytime soap opera after years of staring in crappy plays back in their small town. Her parents had divorced by then and her dad had taken off, leaving Ronni with her mom. It was isolating at first, until her mom’s role grew into something a little bigger and slipped into a strata of B-list stars who seemed to live in each other’s pockets. This meant that suddenly Ronni had a ready-made group of friends.

Gage’s ad above and Kace’s history explains how close the three of them ended up as they grew up. Their group of friends, the other kids of those B-list stars, were promiscuous in their party heavy lives but as she got older Ronni’s feelings edged towards Kace and Gage more than anybody else. Whether Ronni is bisexual or heterosexual is up to the player. With the two of them she headed to UCLA. What Ronni studied and what she did afterwards is also up to the player. She would have remained in LA and close to both Gage and Kace.

After Kace was killed by his older brother Ronni and Gage remained close. Whether Gage had revealed to Ronni what he was going to do or what he was is entirely up to the player. Either way when Gage found out where Kace’s brother was Ronni immediately started packing to go with him.

The three of them will be close again when Kace comes back to life and that includes resuming their relationship. Whether this becomes something serious with a label attached will depend on Kace’s development and how he adjusts to all that has happened to him.

Personality and the rest of Ronni’s history is wide open for the player to choose, as if her species.
