til now. The son of a B-list actress and a Texan oil worker, things were never gonna be quite 'normal' for Kace. For the first five years of his life his parents tried to make the mismatch of their worlds work, but a family life where they settled in Arizona never really worked for his mom. They split in a way, she went back to Hollywood, their dad took the three kids back to Texas - school terms were spent in Texas with his dad's side of the family, summers in Hollywood with his mom, and holidays were spent all together like they were still some happy family. Kace grew up bouncing between those two worlds, a decent student, albeit fast with his mouth and fists, back home, and a kid running wild on the beaches in LA. When Kace was in high school his brother headed off for the military and he was cut loose in a way. After college at UCLA he floated around untethered for a while until the death of a friend landed him with a bar to run. Kace had just built it up to something that was getting some recognition when his brother's career with the Green Berets ended explosively. Without question Kace put him up on his sofa and tried to help him through his PTSD but a bone head move with an action movie one night resulted in Kit stabbing him in the chest and Kace dying. Unwilling to go with the reaper who came to collect him Kace has spent the last six months tailing his brother around in spirit form.
friends. Without a doubt his big brother Kit was Kace's closest friend growing up. The two of them were thick as thieves until Kit graduated and headed off the military. Afterwards Kace was closest friends were a bunch of other B-list movie stars' kids. They hung out together in LA, gathering on the beaches, spending days surfing, sleeping around with each other. Gage and another friend were close enough in the group to be known as the Musketeers. As a spirit it's been nearly impossible to tether himself to anybody but his brother, but people have come and gone, keeping that isolation from being absolute.
enemies. Naw. Kace might've had some spats with the assholes who'd try and muscle in on surf spots when he was younger and he spent plenty of time scrapping in school but he's never been the sort to make enemies. His big brother might be on his shit list now for killing him but he never saw Kit as an enemy for it.
family. Like the Kardashians, only cheaper. It was the way Kace always chose to describe his family, his mom at least. Kamilla and Kurt, parents to Kit, Kandice and Kace. Kace was never close to his mom, who he always called by her first name. He and Kit were inseparable until Kit enlisted ... hell, in a way they're still inseparable in a way now, not even death tearing them apart.
lovers. Lovers are right. For Kace it was never anything more than that. The group he hung around with in LA never settled with anybody for more than five minutes, floating around with each other, hooking up whenever the mood struck. Relationships just snared you into things you were gonna begrudge sooner or later.
