This War is Ours [1/2 Taken]

Up until an IED devastated their team Frank was a part of the 5th Special Forces Group – commonly known as the Green Berets – one of America’s elite military groups. Based in Asia their field of responsibility covered the Middle East, Persian Gulf, Central Asia and the Horn of Africa. Most of the team had served together for years before their convoy was blown up. Three members of the team were killed in the explosion, the rest injured. All of the survivors but Frank managed to go back to full duty after he was given a medical discharge.

Three years have passed since and now some of Frank’s team are out of the military too – either temporarily or permanent is up to the player.

Jake was one of Frank’s closest confidants on the team. He was already an officer when Frank came onboard after he graduated Westpoint. Whether or not Jake worked his way up to First Lieutenant from a grunt or if he attended Westpoint a year or two ahead of Frank is up to the player. He watched out for Frank in the field and became one of his closest friends on the team. When the convoy was blown up, Jake was hurt, not as severely as Frank but enough to keep him out of the field for a few months. During that time he travelled back to Bethesda twice to check up on Frank and make sure he wasn’t slipping into the same grim hole lots of former operators do when their careers end.

Much about Jake’s history is open. The one thing I would like included is that Jake wasn’t born in America. His family were originally from Newfoundland in Canada and moved to the US when Jake was a teenager. Jake’s the sort to wise crack about everything, never taking life too seriously, something that Frank appreciated in combat when his own default was pretty serious. Frank never specifically came out to his team but Jake at the very least knew and allowed Frank to keep that part of his life secret.
