━ evil notions come free ━ Magnus had been in Mystic Falls long enough to know that the town had an unusually high number of non-human creatures; they were pouring out and oozing from each corner. And he’d been alive long enough to know just how many different creatures there were and could be. Maybe there were more than he’d ever know, especially because he wasn’t some type of witch; he couldn’t sense it just by touching somebody.
He was cautious now, though, after having saved Dementri from a group that was supposed to be their own. But there was no honour amongst people nowadays; it didn't matter to them who they burned, so long as they gained something from it.
He was surprised to see a demon be so cocky and self-assured, but it worked out in Magnus' favour anyways; he'd caught the thing switching hosts in his shop. He'd almost missed it on the security cameras, but, thankfully, he'd seen the recording only a few moments after it happened. He didn’t normally carry around his old longsword━he kept it safe in his room; it had been a gift from Kaegan, his childhood friend, and he held it close to his heart━but today, he needed to protect himself. And others, as he’d soon learn.
It was late afternoon, coming upon the evening, so he assumed this time was as good as any to body-swap. Maybe it was less likely that he’d get caught, but unlucky for him, Magnus had seen it, and he wasn’t happy. As soon as the demon walked out the door, all he could think about was the flurry of humans or even just unsuspecting people out there, about to fall victim to this evil being. So, Magnus rushed to his room and got his longsword, which had been blessed at the time of its forging, sheathing it and tying it around his waist.
He definitely looked like a madman as he rushed through the streets, going after the demon. He’d lost the thing around a corner, and then found it again as it was following a man into a secluded alleyway. He didn’t hear much of any conversation, not as he blurred up behind the demon, unsheathing his sword within the vampiric speed, and then shoved the blade through the demon’s head, the pointy end coming out his mouth, and no doubt splattering the man with blood. It was a small price to pay for his life, Magnus concluded. And, if he reacted poorly, Magnus could just compel him━he’d rather erase this perfect stranger’s memory than have him dead.
Magnus sliced up through the host’s skull, and then watched the body fall limp to the ground, black smoke rising from the host’s mouth and up to the sky. “Aye! Magnus shouted, stabbing at the smoke with his sword, though it didn’t do much. “Stupid bastard.” He muttered, frowning until he met eyes with the man whom he’d just saved. “You alright there, lad? Sorry ‘bout the blood,” He gave a small smile, sheathing his sword and reaching over to pat the man’s bicep, hoping he wasn’t traumatized for life.

The switch had happened before the light had even gone out of the sky. Gabriel had been sat there in his office, lost in thought as he’d stared out at the lowering gloom. Half of his staff had already crept out, taking the opportunity the shorter days gave to cut their hours in the office. He could’ve bitched about it he supposed, but if there was one thing that encouraged loyal employees it was knowing when to bend and when to crack the whip. That he’d thought, swinging his legs up to prop them on the corner of his desk, ankles crossed, felt like a metaphor for the angel in his head. Remiel and he had come to an agreement before it had been a case of bend or break but still, the angel’s calling to a higher power had a tendency to trump things. Leaving him …
… tucked in a neat corner of what had been his own mind only moments before. Remiel had swung his legs down off of the desk. Snagged the jacket from the rack in the corner of the room and strolled out of his office. The bullpen, as Gabriel liked to call it, outside, was already dim in some places, desk lamps and the occasional brighter pools of overhead lights picking out those who were still hard at work. His assistant winged a brow but Remiel was already lifting a hand, warding off her concern about him not being the last to leave with a congenial smile. ”Just following up on a story,” he promised. ”Don’t wait around, I won’t be back tonight.” Gabriel would likely be pissed about it, their agreement didn’t leave much room for stealing ‘work time’ but that feeling that had been off in the human’s stomach most of the afternoon as he’d glanced out of the window on and off had been enough to have him breaking his word.
Something was amiss in the town of Mystic Falls. Like it always was.
Remiel slipped a hand into the pocket of the hip length jacket his host wore as he headed out of the building and strolled in the direction of the centre of town. Even if Hannah hadn’t tasked him with looking out for trouble here in town and protecting the good … innocent … folks who called it home, he would’ve done all the same. Hell was not going to get any deeper a toe hold here if he had anything to say about it.
Blue eyes swept the street as he kept his fingertips on the cool metal hilt of his angel blade. The feeling was growing, that primitive part of the human brain he occupied as disconcerted by the feeling that he was being watched as he was himself. Catching a smile and a nod from a passerby, Remiel returned it. ”Afternoon,” he greeted cordially, his eyes catching on a wing mirror of a car at the curb as he looked away. Someone walking behind him, the click of heels, the intense eyes setting alarm bells ringing in his head. That was definitely … what had Gabriel called it … his spider-sense … tingling.
Humming low in his throat, patting his chest as though in contemplation Remiel turned into an alleyway, leading his pursuer deeper. Chain link blocked the end of it, something he’d found out on patrol weeks ago. He approached it as though he were almost blind to it. Twisting around just as the thing … the demon, he could see it’s face now … rushed into those tight confines behind him. The angel sighed, pulling his blade free. ”Surely you can do better than that,” he crabbed. He spun the blade in his hand, was prepared to ram it down the things throat when there was a flash of a blade in the air behind the demon.
Hot blood splattered his face, unfamiliar to a being that killed with as much celestial heat and energy as he did the razor edges of the blade he held. Remiel opened his mouth, letting out a long breathed tainted with copper as the man behind that fallen body hollered at the demon that boiled out of the body. ”Stupid free bastard,” Remiel panted, his accent still carrying the cool, clipped tones of Gabriel’s privileged upbringing. ”It’s just going to find the nearest human and take up residence.” Leaving him to play a game of hide and seek all evening, all it an attempt to drive the thing from its host and kill it without killing the human in the process.
Pushing off of the chain link, Remiel ran the back of his hand over his mouth, letting out a sound of disgust as it came away smeared with blood. ”It’s not me who’s going to be pissed,” he admitted dryly. Gabriel would take one look at what was dropped on his bedroom floor later and would curse him to the Heavens. Remiel swallowed, grimaced as he shook his head. ”It didn’t have a chance to touch me,” he admitted, his eyes cutting to the hand patting his arm. ”I suppose I should thank you for the rescue, even if it was a little messy.” It was more than that, the angel could already feel the human trapped in a corner of his mind recoiling. Blood shed never sat well with the man.

━ evil notions come free ━ ‘It’s just going to find the nearest human and take up residence.’
Magnus raised his brows at the man, realizing quite quickly that maybe this man wasn’t as ignorant, or as human, as he’d thought. Maybe it made sense━Magnus had just assumed a demon would be following a helpless human into the depths of this alley, but obviously Magnus was not as smart as he thought about all of this.
‘It’s not me who’s going to be pissed,’
“Who is, then?” Magnus laughed somewhat sheepishly, still staring at this man with an incredulous look. Was that a threat? Was this really supposed to be a secret demon meeting that Magnus had completely mistook? Was he going to get attacked next?
But, instead, the man thanked him. Magnus couldn’t blame him for not being too happy about it, there was blood splattered all over his face, but he was still a bit of a snob. It was alright, though, Magnus had spent the bulk of his most influential years around royalty━the most snobbish you could get.
“Ya should thank me, an’ you’re welcome.” Magnus grinned, not afraid of being a bit cheeky, despite knowing absolutely nothing about what he was getting into with this man. Time had made him hard and unafraid of repercussions, but Magnus never really saw it as a bad thing. “My name’s Magnus━just so you don’t have to call me your ‘great protector’ or anything of the sort. Mind if I ask what ya are, seeming as you aren’t too upset by gettin’ splattered with demon blood?” Magnus drew back his hand to his side, watching the man, just waiting to make a comment about this guy’s level of self-importance. It was interesting, and amusing, really━Magnus didn’t hate it, he just wanted to tease the man. It was the best way to form good bonds, at least in his opinion.

The thing had nearly been his. The blade was in his hand, would have been buried in the demon’s chest in an instant. The human would’ve been lost most likely, regrettable, but after who only knew how long with that thing inside of him, there might not have been much left anyway. There rarely was of those who had played host to a demon. The evil done burned the life out of them in a way his own kind took great pains to ignore. The demon that had tormented him would at least have been gone. Driven to the empty by the holy weapon. Before the tip could even kiss the fragile flesh Remiel saw the man’s head cleaved from his body.
He stood, his breath rasping out of him as spots of blood cooled on his face. Black smoke had escaped, free and just as dangerous as before. Only now another would end up falling prey to the demon. Remiel stared at the man behind the body, the one who had spoiled his hunt, who had screwed up. He hissed out a breath, looking down at his blood smeared hand before he crabbed at him. Blue eyes flicked back up, teeth bared in a snort. ”My tailor,” he muttered through his teeth, fixing on the words from Gabriel’s memory. He wasn’t ready to out himself, not quite so easily when he had no idea about his erstwhile rescuer.
A grimace, a slow breath as he was patted and he was mustering up a thank you. It was undeserved for the most part, the quick end to this fight had likely caused more issues than it had solved but his host’s manners were there in his throat in an automatic gesture. Remiel sniffed, taking a half step back. His shirt clung to his chest now, the rapidly cooling blood driving a shudder through the body Gabriel could still sense. ”Great protector?” Remiel’s chin dipped, the first hint of disbelief beginning to work its way through him. The gratitude was one thing but compliments? Oh ho, ho, no.
Snorting, Remiel shook his head and began to circle the body now prone on the ground. It hadn’t been that big a rescue, he would’ve taken the demon down himself without half the amount of mess. Now they had the demon to track and this body to hide if he didn’t want to end up on the front page of his own newspaper, wanted for murder. His might not have been the hand on the sword but it was certain blood staining him from eyeballs to waist. The angel looked up at the man from under his lashes, his teeth flashing. ”I suppose I should ask the same of you Magnus but I have a feeling I already know.” Vampire. It hadn’t taken the creature falling to the floor to scrabble after what was left after the blood stopped pumping up to dampen the blacktop.
Remiel shook his head, blue eyes rapidly scanning the buildings on either side of him, trailing up a fire escape that zigzagged one side. Apartments maybe, somewhere far more hidden than the street. The demon wouldn’t likely have gone far, although perhaps it would’ve been wiser to. ”Since you knew what that thing was I imagine you’re familiar with the other side of the coin…” He would’ve demonstrated but his true visage had burned the eyes from lesser creatures and he had no wish to cost two lives today. ”I am Remiel. An angel of the lord. I wouldn’t recommend trying to use that blade on me…” Remiel added dryly as he glanced back at the vampire. Not all drew the line at evil and he had committed no crime to deserve Gabriel being beheaded in a similar manner. His host had certainly done nothing to earn the unceremonious end either.

━ evil notions come free ━ ‘My tailor,’
How stuck-up could one man be? Magnus had grew up around royals, he knew how bad it could be, but this man was just that━a man, nothing really that special. At least the Royal Family had crowns and actual power backing them. Magnus wasn’t as irritated as he was amused by it, though, his brows raising as a wide grin spread over his mouth, the skin around his eyes beginning to crinkle. He had been teasing with the ‘great protector’ comment, of course, but Magnus had truly been assuming he’d saved the man’s life━and, for that, thanks was required. The grimace on the other man’s face pulled a laugh out of Magnus’ gut, low and short.
Blue eyes watched the man begin to move around the body, and though the blood on him had been possessed by a demon, it was human all the same━drawing in the vampire as he smelt it. It had been Magnus’ own fault, but he took a step back anyways, keeping distance between him and the man. He’d had almost seven and a half centuries of practice, but with the ruby red liquid nearly covering every inch of the other man, it was still hard to resist.
Magnus kept his eyes on the blond’s face as he looked around, almost scouting the surrounding areas. The vampire’s own eyes darted to glance at each point that was examined, though he was much slower, trying to see what the other man was seeing.
‘Since you knew what that thing was I imagine you’re familiar with the other side of the coin… I am Remiel. An angel of the lord. I wouldn’t recommend trying to use that blade on me…’
Magnus’ brows were up again. Demons had been easy to believe in, evil existed everywhere, but Angels…? For some reason, the idea was more difficult for Magnus to wrap his head around. He’d existed for a long, long time, and he’d seen people fall on their knees to pray. He’d watched as miracles were performed, prayers granted, while others were left unanswered. He’d prayed himself, had always had a belief in God until it began to fade over the years. Surely, Magnus thought, after living so long, he would’ve come across a divine being earlier than this, especially if they were roaming around in human forms. Though, maybe he had, and he just hadn’t known it. He was a vampire, anyways, and he considered his species as very far from the Heavens. But perhaps that was why he was meeting this Angel now; the Lord had sent him to reaffirm Magnus’ fading faith.
But there was also no proof that this man was telling the truth, and Magnus wasn’t going to just blindly believe such a wild idea. Why would God care enough about him to send an Angel, anyways?
“I’d say you’re a good lookin’ man, but an Angel? I believe that’s pushin’ it,” Magnus quipped, another amused smile on his lips.
“And why would I use this blade on you, hm? If you’re an Angel, then ya’ve got no sins to be worried about.” He paused for a moment, and then, unable to keep in his joke, carried on, “Unless you did somethin’ bad. Can Angels sin? That why you’re stuck here on Earth with the lot of us?” He was running with the idea now, teasing, though the idea that he had just helped out an Angel was comforting. Maybe that made him a little less terrible of a being; though, nothing would forgive his earlier crimes in life.

He should have said his host’s tailor he supposed but ever since Gabriel had accepted his presence in both his mind and his body the two of them seemed to have grown closer in a way. One mind at times, one body, one closet – most unfortunately. The shudder of revulsion would run through Gabriel in the morning when he woke to find the clothing lying in a crumpled foul mess in his home. They were quite beyond repair, destined only for the fireplace. Some sort of explanation would follow, the details landing spine tingling blows, even if Gabriel’s skin had thickened up quite considerably against some things since all of this had started.
Some things still got through and this … this was going something. Even if he was currently pretending it wasn’t to the creature who stood before him with the sort of delusions of grandeur his own sort had regrettably become known for. Dipping his chin, he’d studied him dubiously as that same tone dripping from his voice. Looking up at his ‘great protector’ he found a grin spreading over that haggard face, lines crinkling into the skin. All spelling out that road map of smug before he started to laugh.
Ugh.
Filled with a faint edge of amusement, Remiel went to the body instead of seeing that unescapably huge ego spread. He circled it, booted foot neatly avoiding the spreading pool of blood. The rest of his clothing was already ruined, Gabriel wouldn’t have wanted the boots added to the blaze if he could help it. Sandy brows drew together, a frown creasing his own brow before the vampire’s question pulled him from his study. His teeth flashed in a smile then, just enough of his knowledge dripping through in the veiled comment. Magnus didn’t respond though. Remiel shifted again, eyes skittering over the buildings around them, at least taking some interest in where the thing that had escaped had gone to.
The voice that emerged from his throat was cooler than those warm tones his host exhibited. A product of what he supposed humanity would have called his upbringing. Gabriel had been brought up to amplify his natural charm, angels weren’t called upon to do the same. It seemed as though this man may have forgotten his own too or considered all those rough edges his version of it. There’d been no intention to reveal his true identity at first but as his rescuer seemed ready to linger it felt prudent. Remiel’s brow winged again at the lack of response, his blue eyes met a pair shades paler. ”Has the cat got your tongue now Great Protector?” he asked, that hint of amusement in his voice again. ”That is what they say isn’t it?” His host had kindly provided the words before retreating. This was a matter Gabriel very much didn’t want a front row seat for.
Remiel frowned once more as the words finally fell, seemingly carrying some ridicule from the former man. Good looking? What? Gabriel stirred, a sigh whispering through his mind as he was forced to offer explanation that had he had no wish to to have to provide. ”Was that supposed to be a joke?” he asked, that aridity back in his words. ”You’d be surprised, Magnus, my kind aren’t quite as vane as your entertainment here would have you believe. We do not choose our hosts for looks alone and I suppose it was quite the same for your sire.” There wasn’t a mean bone in either him or West but the sarcasm had slipped out all the same, some part of their conjoined egos stinging.
Pointedly he looked down at the body at Magnus’ question. Sighing at the thought of what the blood would do to the leather, he toed the torn flesh of what had once housed a demon. ”You seemed rather keen to use it a moment ago.” A grimmer amusement pulled at Remiel’s lips as he looked back up at the vampire. ”You do believe my kind are quite without sin then … I have given you no reason to use your blade vampire, but others have had no reason before and yet have still tried. It is certainly not my sin that has brought me here, more a deep abiding affection for your kind and orders from my father that we should all watch over you. I can see some need it more than others. Do you have no intention to try and deal with the thing that once occupied this man?” He gestured down at the crumpled body and then up at the building behind him. By now the demon could have been anywhere, in anybody.

━ evil notions come free ━ Magnus wondered if he should’ve kept his sword out. Surely it couldn’t do anything to the actual being, but it would ruin the host━as they’d just seen with the demon. If he was to believe this man, though, wouldn’t being an angel mean he’d refrain from hurting those who didn’t threaten him? Magnus wasn’t sure what the qualifications were like━maybe he deserved it for his history alone.
And was he really believing this story now?
As he’d taken a few moments to consider it in silence, the angel━no, the other man━was jumping on the first chance to poke back at Magnus. He appreciated it to some degree, but it didn’t warrant a response━only an amused smile that stayed until the vampire was rattling off his own comeback.
This claim of being an ‘angel’ could have been an act or an actual psychological condition. Either way, the man seemed to not understand him for a second or two, that grin only splitting further on Magnus’ face. If he was what he claimed to be, it would make sense that he didn’t understand regular back-and-forth, unable to meet Magnus’ wit with a retort of his own.
‘... We do not choose our hosts for looks alone and I suppose it was quite the same for your sire.’
Or so he thought.
Magnus’ brows were rising, mouth falling open to produce a curt laugh. He was astonished, almost proud, of the retort. Throughout his long life, he’d had a lot worse said and done to him; small insults didn’t tend to anger Magnus anymore━especially when they came from children or people with the same childlike ignorance of the world. He took it on the chin, an almost encouraging bob of his head following. “Alrigh’, good one, I’ll give ya that.”
Blue eyes dropped to the body again, a grimace replacing the once-entertained expression as Remiel nudged the corpse with his foot. Though he drank from humans now (in the gentlest, most humane way possible), the vampire didn’t like to play with his food. He didn’t kill them, either━after such a long time, he’d found a way to control himself. He could stop midway, and would rather send the humans off with a blank mind and conspicuous bite marks than not have them walk away at all. He was aware that Remiel wasn’t ‘playing’, just inspecting… for some reason or another. Either way, the lifeless movement of the body sent uncomfortable thoughts springing into his mind.
“Deep abidin’ affection?” Magnus repeated first, finding the angel’s face with his gaze, that smirk slowly crawling back to his lips. “We just met, Remiel. I’m flattered, though I can’t say the same just yet.” He joked with him again, chuckling as he continued, “I’m goin’ to assume ‘your kind’ means anybody that ain’t a divine bein’.” The word ‘mortal’ didn’t exactly fit for creatures such as himself, and ‘human’ definitely didn’t either. It might’ve been different coming from an angel, though━their definition miles different than somebody who’d once had a normal life.
A life where he’d done a lot of stupid things, though nothing as idiotic as attempting to take down a heavenly being. He wasn’t planning to go for Remiel; the objective, from the start, had been to save him. “You’re a bit ‘f an arsehole, but I don’t want to kill ya for it. Not yet, anyway.” He teased, “Come on, let’s find that Godless bastard an’ you can get rid of ‘im ‘fore I put my sword through another host.” Magnus repeated the word as he walked past the supposed angel, towards the public again. He stopped just a few feet away from the body, and then stopped to turn back to it, eyes catching Remiel’s.
“Can you ‘andle that, or do I need to get him out of ‘ere?” Maybe, if the ‘angel’ had some sort of power to show him, Magnus would be ready to believe the claim of who━or what━he was.

Humanity had been a confusing thing at first. Their blind faith in his kind somehow reassuring and concerning at the same time. If they were always looking to someone else for absolution, to felt the pressure of another’s blame, for reprieve from whatever horrors had been brought into their lives. It had taken millennia of ferrying their souls to see that there was so much more to his father’s creations. To build that intrigue and leave him desperate to be down here. Unfortunately, Remiel mused as the vampire had grinned at him, brightly enough to have him wondering if something in the turning rendered them a little … touched.
The angel’s brows drew together, a faint bristle somewhere deep down inside, probably half borne of Gabriel’s thoughts, leaving him pressing his tongue against the roof of his mouth before he’d let out that dry retort. Hell had been breeding jokes about angel-kind since their creation, the two sides, neither of them achieving the same level of wit as humanity. A back and forth, confusion tending to crease brows all around. Remiel’s own grin returned, the sun slipping out from behind a brooding cloud. Perhaps it brightened as the vampire laughed, seemingly no offensive taken. ”Just a single good one, I am losing my touch, it seems. You do seem rather … aged … for having been turned. My kind do not select for looks but I had been led to believe that many among your kind too. Young and pretty … all the easier to lure humans in.” A generalisation that had Gabriel sucking in a breath deep down. Was his host concerned that he was antagonising the creature with the sword, a man not that different to the ones that had first brought them together.
Another parasite had been killed though. The blood of its former host staining the ground just beyond the toe of his boot. The creature had attempted to kill him, its inability to judge the situation its final downfall. Remiel’s manner remaining dour as he started to educate his erstwhile rescuer, breaking again with that faint amusement as he looked up. ”For humanity,” he clarified, a sigh slipping out as blue eyes rolled. ”As our father bade all of us to have. For some the instruction was soon cast aside but some of us still trust in the word of God.” He wasn’t sure how close to sitting on the fence he was in the matter, so much had changed in recent years and still some part of him waited, hoped.
Remiel gave a grunt at the vampire’s amusement, shoulders shrugging beneath the bloodied clothing he would have to get rid of … again. His lips pressed together, steps already starting to carry him around the vampire and towards the building. ”I’m glad to hear it, although, Magnus, trust me, you would not get far if you tried.” There was a curve to his lips, a crinkle at the corners of his eyes as he narrowed them. He started to trail after the vampire, although Magnus was already stopping short, the notion that he could deal with the demon before the sword was used again to cut down another host, the unfortunate victim of a possession. He locked eyes with the vampire, started past him before he hitched the blade he’d been carrying. ”You have never dealt with one without the sword?” Remiel clucked his tongue, approaching the fire escape with a frown. The ladder was at least ten feet overhead, high enough to deter would be thieves from their easy access.
With a flutter of wings he disappeared from the ground, reappearing on the fire escape. He propped his elbows against the rail, gesturing the vampire up. His kind were agile, strong, such a leap should have been nothing to him. ”There are exorcisms, words of God that will drive the creature out and back to Hell. That takes time and gives the demon an opening unless there are other ways to restrain them. An angel blade will do the same thing … with something less than a mortal wound. Can you make the jump or do I need to offer you a hand?” The old man was tacked on silently, another jab back at a creature who was undoubtedly years, if not centuries older than he already appeared.

━ evil notions come free ━ Magnus didn’t like to or often share the story of how he was turned. Philippa was a sealed wound by then, but with the right amount of pressure, it could crack open in an instant, and he’d be spilling himself everywhere. Not to mention, this Angel with a childlike consideration of the world didn’t need to know, and probably didn’t care to, either. So he kept the smile on his face and didn’t allow old lesions to continue causing him pain━it wasn’t worth it. She was long dead, and so was he. “Eh, you don’t think I’m pretty? I’m takin’ that one to heart, Remiel,” Magnus chuckled, hoping the being wasn’t too inept at catching his jest. He’d proven to have a few tricks up his sleeve, though, so Magnus wasn’t too worried. “Trust me, I can lure ‘em in just the same. What I lack in looks I make up for in other ways.” Whether or not the creature would catch the innuendo didn’t matter, Magnus had amused himself anyway.
Ah. The Word of God. He assumed the Angel wouldn’t start preaching, only bringing up the obvious matter at hand━the demon they were after. “I hope that Angels would, if no one else, especially in this increasingly-Godless world.” Just because he wouldn’t immediately accept that this man was, in fact, a divine being, or that he hadn’t gone to Church in maybe a few centuries, didn’t mean Magnus couldn’t see the way society was slipping away from the things that mattered most. He would kill to have a family, and yet most were shying away from that now, taking their option for granted. It upset him to see the West breaking away from all things that were once common practice━not even so long ago, but only twenty or thirty years in the past. So, if Angels believed in nothing, then they were well and truly fucked. “Do ya need belief to exist? Say, if I clap my hands, it gives ya power? How ‘bout every time a bell rings?” He wondered if the modern references would be lost on Remiel, as they could’ve been for someone of Magnus’ age.
‘I’m glad to hear it, although, Magnus, trust me, you would not get far if you tried.’
Once in a while he pulled out these lines that amused Magnus and made it obvious he could handle (and catch) a joke. Magnus was pretty confident in himself, but he wasn’t an idiot━he would not challenge such a being in a million years… could that be the creature’s plan, though? To ensure nobody did?
A few moments later, while Magnus had stopped and turned to the man, waiting for them to go, he got his proof. Remiel stared up at the fire escape as a cat would a countertop, and in a moment, with the flash of wings and the sound of them, he was above. Quickly, Magnus moved a few steps backwards and craned his neck, staring up with another amused expression. The Angel━there was no longer a doubt in Magnus’ mind━was standing on the fire escape without ever having to touch the ladder, even going so far as to tease the vampire left on the ground.
“Aye, I can make th’jump,” Magnus shook his head, still grinning while he set his gaze on the ladder. It was easy to propel himself up and off the ground, and with vampiric speed, he was nearly a blur until stopping at the Angel’s side once more. “So, where can I get me one of those Angel blades? Do I have to turn ya upside down like a salt shaker and pepper some of that Angel dust on a regular blade?” Surely, that wasn’t how they were made, but the back-and-forth was too entertaining to give up. He patted Remiel’s arm twice more and motioned to the sky.
“Alrigh’, let’s get a move on ‘fore that fucker goes too far.”
And so they did, setting off to destroy a demon the proper way. Magnus had never hunted with an Angel by his side (that he knew of), though he supposed even in a life as long as his, there were always ‘Firsts’ to experience.
