It seemed to Elena as though it took a long time for her to fully come to. For a while she had felt like she was in a place that was unfamiliar to her and that there were others around but it was like she was living in a haze. Slowly but surely that haze had finally started to lift but there was a part of Elena that now wished that she could have remained in that haze. Now she still had no idea where she really was but she knew that she was surrounded by others and none of them seemed to be moving. It felt like it had taken a lot of willpower for her to even get up from her seat but she had managed it and she had been trying to wake up others from their daze, certain that she was trapped in whatever it was that she had been trapped in herself not long before, but to no avail. She could see that they were all in a train station but where that station was she had no idea. She had seen some familiar faces among the crowd around her - Lizzie was there, so was Rebekah and a couple of Scott's pack - and she had tried to wake them up but it was like they just couldn't hear her. She hadn't seen anyone else awake and aware of what was going on like she was so she had been taking a look around but so far hadn't found anything that might be of use. She knew that she needed to find a way to get them all home safely but that was much easier said than done when she had no idea where they all were. Elena had known for a long time that Mystic Falls wasn't like other towns and living there was dangerous but she didn't even know where to begin with figuring out who was responsible for this or why they had brought all these people together. The Dread Doctors were somewhat known entities to Elena, her family and her friends now even if they didn't know what the group wanted and the Mikaelsons were the same but this had to be someone different and what they were up to she didn't know but she also knew that she couldn't just sit there and do nothing. The room she had woken up in was full of people and she hadn't seen anyone come or go but she had caught glimpses of other rooms where more people were being held. It seemed to go on forever but other than Lizzie she hadn't seen anyone else from her family there so she could only hope that they were safe at home where they belonged. It worried her to know that they were probably facing Raziel without her, the angel had made it clear that he didn't care whether supernaturals were good or evil and just wanted them all to die when he killed Josie and Hope and Elena hated the thought of him hurting anyon else that she cared about. She had been doing her best to help Ric and the others find a way to stop him but she had no way of knowing what was going on in Mystic Falls right now and that was an incredibly strange feeling. She had never liked feeling like she was powerless to help the people she cared about but the truth was that she was starting to feel that way more and more often at the moment. She wasn't there when Jed was killed by the dragon just like she wasn't there when Josie died with Hope's blood in her system. It was so difficult being at a different school to them but now Elena had graduated she hoped that it would give her the chance to be around for them all more the way she wanted to be when she finally found her way back to them. Elena knew firsthand that nothing was more important than family and that included both her extended and chosen family. Her parents had died years ago but she still had Jeremy and Jenna and through Jenna's marriage to Ric she also had him, his kids and the twins. Her friends had also become family to her a long time ago and the truth was that she longed to get back to them. Gone were the days of Elena feeling like she was all alone in the world like she had done after her parents died, now she had so many people that she considered family and she knew that she wasn't going to stop until she found a way to get out of here. Something told Elena that was going to be easier said than done but she knew that she was nothing if not persistent. It was easy to lose track of time in the train station and the truth was that Elena had no idea how long she had been awake for but after spending some time trying to wake up others and breaking into a room she had hoped would contain answers that only seemed to contain an old radio she hadn't been able to get to work, Elena knew that it was time she had a look around properly. The first couple of rooms she passed through seemed to be much the same as hers, the people in them were all staring off into space and seemed completely unaware that she was even trying to get there attention, but as she moved into the next room she couldn't deny that she was surprised when she saw movement and she was even more surprised when she realised who it was "Stiles, is that you?" she asked, needing to make sure that she wasn't just seeing things. After days – or weeks if he’d lost more time than he’d thought – without his meds, it was a wonder he wasn’t climbing the walls. Stiles supposed that not having them had probably kept him zonked out for longer. They let him focus, pulled the fluttering lines of thought together for him. They’d become the framework around which he’d built his life since he’d been diagnosed with ADHD. Now he was jonesing after them.
Stiles bounced up from his seat for the fifth time that day. He’d made circuits of the place every day since he’d woken up. Most of the time it had just been working his way up and down the aisles of seats, trying to get a reaction out of somebody in here. Others had done the same, quiet pockets of conversation giving him hope that he wasn’t the only sane one in here, but they were usually the people who seemed to vanish soon after. Maybe they’d just moved through the maze of rooms, trying to find some better spot to wait to be rescued from this hell hole, more likely they’d found some way out that he hadn’t.
By now Lydia and the others had to be losing their minds over where he’d gone. He’d heard from some of the others that the Wild Hunt had the ability to wipe you out of existence, but the pack was stronger than that. Someone had to remember his voice yapping on and on, Derek had to still be pissed at him for something, and Lydia … Puffing a breath out, Stiles strode across the room, towards the doors that led into the next. Lydia had been with him when he’d been taken. It had taken them years to get together but in the end she’d been as in love with him as he was here and those feelings didn’t just vanish with a finger snap, or a shot from whatever wild west six shooter laser gun things those screwed up cowboys were toting on their hips.
He'd tried putting the plea out to her a hundred times since he’d come out of his coma here. Staring up at the ceiling of the waiting room, or into the black void of the tunnel that led out of the station (he was still too chicken to try escaping down it), he’d talk to Lydia like she could hear him. Come on Lyds, find Roscoe, remember just how much you hate having to ride around in a rust bucket. Find my socks under the bed. You’ve gotta see me somewhere. So far there hadn’t been so much as a flicker and he was starting to wonder just how strong this memory wiping spell was.
Pushing through into the next room, Stiles started down the first line of people. Snapping his fingers in front of their eyes, doubling back if he thought he saw a flicker of movement. ”I know you’re in there buddy,” Stiles muttered as he stared into the eyes of a guy he’d seen down at the sheriff’s station when he’d been visiting his dad. ”You can’t sleep forever.” But apparently most people could.
He’d worked his way halfway down the block of people when the doors opened at the other end. Hallelujah. Stiles straightened up and barked out a laugh. He hated to say it about anybody else he knew being in here, but this had to be progress! ”If you’re worried that this place has got you seeing things, you can stop,” Stiles told Elena as he jogged over and threw his arms out for a hug. ”Yeah it’s me and boy am I glad to see you. What happened? Did the others send you in to try and get me out?” Even as he said it, he knew it wouldn’t make any sense. If they knew he was in here, he’d be out already.
