━ Miss me? ━
These past 3 months consisted of Kai pinching himself to ensure this wasn't a dream that would suddenly come to a halt. He was free from his personal hell, driven to insanity but now, now he was free to do what he wished. Of course, seeking revenge and merging with a member of the Gemini Coven was a constant thought in his brain that he welcomed. Though, this sudden alliance struck with the vampire Katherine Pierce meant he was unable to go on the offense against his coven right away but instead, she taught him. She taught him the new ways of the new world so he wouldn't draw too much attention to himself. For Kai, it went in one ear and out the other. Really, the best thing about the 2023 was twitter. Being able to say whatever he wanted, when he wanted had become an obsession. Also, he loved streaming services but these were all just distractions over the past three months. Katherine wasn't helping him without a price. He understood she viewed him as an asset and it was something that Kai didn't particularly care about. She understood his predicament - the need to find a solution to a problem which plagued him for years, the root of who he was and the atrocity he committed before he was banished to the prison world.
She informed him of family members who should have been six feet under who were actually walking around, breathing. This was one of two reasons why Kai had come to Mystic Falls. The other? A witch whose last name he'd heard of before he was banished from this world. Evelyn Monet. He knew of her father but never met him. Katherine had contacts everywhere and whilst she couldn't provide Kai the reason why William was so obsessed with his own daughter, she made it clear that perhaps she could be the key to unlocking his true potential or at least, it was worth a try if Kai was unable to deal with his former coven correctly. All these sounded... fun to Kai. Plus, it gave him a reason to finally venture on his own without having to be babysat. He knew by the end of his time with both Lucy and Katherine, the Bennett had grown tired of Kai, who attempted to suck her magic whenever he had a chance. Katherine always protected him which made Kai feel like he could get away with anything when it came to pissing Lucy off.
The moon had settled in the dark sky and Kai was stood in front of the Coffee Bean, an establishment that Evelyn 'worked' in...? Just the thought of that was enough to upturn the corner of his lips in amusement. All that power and she settled for a simple life. Kai would never understand or experience normal because the way he functioned just wouldn't allow it. His eyes scanned around the establishment through the window on the door. The lights were on and he could see Evelyn fiddling around. With a sharp sniff, he then entered the building. Ignoring the clear closed sign which hung in front. As he stepped in, a grin that had formed earlier only spread wider. He extended his arms out, understanding that it was only him and her in the building. ''I sure hope I've made it just in time for my nightly latte with two pumps of caramel!'' His tone whilst enthusiastic, it clearly hinted at the fact he knew the shop was closed for the day.
''You're not closed just yet.''

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN was closing up at the coffee shop, having been picking up several shifts to keep herself preoccupied from the looming threat her father and his followers posed. Suspiciously, they had been silent the past few months. Ever since her re-in with her father's followers in the woods a few months ago, they hadn't made any advances, hadn't tried to harass her or cause her harm. She didn't know why. She didn't know if it was because of the fact that she had an angel on her side, one whom had threatened them on numerous occasions or what. It did make her feel better to have Cas on her side, to know he'd be there for her. But even with Cas on her side, she still felt incredibly uneasy. More uneasy with the fact that they were all radio silent. That left her with more questions than answers. What was her father up to? Was he planning something? It would only be a matter of time before he showed up to town, and the day that happened... she didn't even want to think about that.
All she could do was continue building her magic skills, continue building her strength. The one run in she had with Kol, he had taught her more than anyone else ever had. He showed her that she could defend herself, that she didn't need to rely on anyone else. She wasn't just a damsel in distress. Evelyn Monet possessed incredible magic, power that her father dreamed of having. It was why he was after her so intently, because he wanted to find a way to take her power from her for himself. But she couldn't let that happen, because if he did, William Monet would be unstoppable. And that terrified her to no end. He could destroy everyone and everything she ever care for if that were to happen. Hell, he could destroy the world if he really wanted to, and trust her, he wanted to. William was also power hungry, always wanting more power in all aspects. It was why he had been the most feared in their hometown. No one messed with William Monet and if they did, they didn't live to tell the tale.
Regardless, she was going to continue studying and practicing her magic. But in the mean time she was going to finish closing up the coffee shop so she could go home and try to get some rest. Chinese takeout and the latest episode of the bachelor were calling her name. Cliche she knew, but it was one of her guilty pleasures in life. As she was finishing cleaning up the espresso machines, she heard the sound of the bells above the door jingle, signaling that someone had entered. Evelyn swore under her breath, she could have sworn she had locked the door. 'I sure hope I've made it just in time for my nightly latte with two pumps of caramel!' The man said as she walked around the counter, wiping her hands before approaching him. "I'm sorry we're-." She was about to tell him that they were closed as nice as possible, but then he interrupted her by telling her that she was not closed just yet.
Suddenly, Evelyn was on high alert. "Excuse me? I'm sorry but we are closed. I already closed down the machines for the night. We open back up in the morning." She said, putting a good distance between the two. Something about this man was making her skin crawl, as if the man in front of her was up to no good. But more than that, she could practically feel the power radiating off of him, which only meant one thing - he also possessed magic, the very same that ran through her veins.

And there she was. For a moment, the grin dispersed. His eyes and thoughts focused on the witch that Katherine suggested he pay a visit to. His eyes ran over her blonde locks, her eyes which didn’t hide her suspicion of his. She was becoming tense at his presence and Kai couldn’t blame her. That was the effect he had. Snapping out of the trance he was momentarily by physically snapping his fingers in protest, lifting his index finger as he waved it, a silent “you’re wrong” from Kai. He noticed the distance between them. He was impressed that she kept her distance, the silent nod a sign of that. Kai cleared his throat as he proceeded to look around, taking in the interior. He snickered at the mention of the machines having been turned off. As if that would deter them. Besides, he knew she was aware he wasn’t actually there for coffee. “Aw, that’s a shame. I’m sure you could just… you know, just turn them back on again.” His tone was condescending, the left corner of lips tugging. A sigh, as he slammed his hands against the counter to add more to the tension.
“How about I do it instead?” Kai climbed over the counter to get to the other side, the blonde now taking a couple steps away from him to maintain the distance between the two. Kai feigned shocked, placing his hand on his chest as a physical sign of it. “You’ve been watching too much Netflix, Evelyn.” The revelation made Kai chuckle. He wanted to keep a grip on this situation. It wouldn’t surprise him if she thought him to be a soldier of her father but really, if Kai wanted anything from William, it would be to drown him off all his power. He’d heard of the power he wielded. “If it makes you feel better, I love Netflix. I mean, some of the shows? Phew, They get you hooked, am I right? All those true crime documentaries and yet none about what happened in Portland in 1994…” Kai trailed away before nonchalantly shrugging, “Oh well. What I mean to say is… I guess I understand why you’re a little uneasy about me. True crime does that to you.” Kai knew exactly what he was doing.
There was a machine opposite the Siphoner but there was also one where Evelyn was stood. Of course, to really agitated Evelyn, he glided towards the one right next to her, closing the distance between the two. As he got closer, he could feel her power… she was strong. Oh, she was very strong. The devilish grin grew more and more. His attention turned to the machine next to them and in true Kai fashion, he just began pressing random buttons. He didn’t understand technology fully yet and he sure as hell didn’t understand coffee machines. “You know, I’ve recently come back from a trip to New Orleans and boy, some of the things I’ve heard and seen.”

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
THE power that came from the guy in front of her was dark, that much she could tell. The very fact his magic was dark heightened her senses tenfold. Was this another one of her father’s followers? She hadn’t seen him before and usually her father would some of his usual guys. Her father was a creature of habit after all. But something told her this guy wasn’t one of them, but she could never be too sure when it came to her father. She definitely wouldn’t put it past her father to break out new moves, to use different tactics and people to get to her. Ever since she had fled from her father in New Orleans, she had been on high alert, more so than ever before. It seemed things were beginning to ramp up, and that terrified her to her core. What was her father planning? Was he going to make his appearance sometime soon? Evelyn knew good and well what he was after, her magic, the power she possessed. He wanted it all, and it was only a matter of time before his greed made him desperate and that is when she would really worry, because a desperate William Monet was a dangerous William Monet, even more than he already was.
Evelyn’s eyes remained on the stranger before her, still keeping her distance from him as he seemed to inch closer and closer to her. ‘Aw, that’s a shame. I’m sure you could just… you know, just turn them back on again.’ He replied to her after she told them, again, that they were closed and the machines were off. His tone was so… condescending. Him slamming his hands on the counter as a means to intimidate her was more amusing than anything. Old Evelyn would’ve jumped, would’ve been trying to get the hell out of there, and she probably should with the way this guy’s magic was radiating off of him. But the new and improved Evelyn wasn’t like that, she wasn’t scared of her own skin, of her magic. Of others. Coming to terms with who she was made all the difference. If this guy wanted a fight out of her, she’d give it to him. Without help.
‘How about I do it instead?’The guy said as he then jumped over the counter toward where she was and she took several steps back, more so to put space between the two of them. He acted shocked that she had done so, even placing his hand over his heart dramatically. ‘You’ve been watching too much Netflix, Evelyn.’ Before she could utter a word the guy said her name and suddenly she was even more on high alert and went immediately on the defense. “How the hell do you know my name?” She asked in an accusatory tone. Surely this must be one of her father’s followers. His web was deep, he knew many people. People who wanted to get in his good graces or wanted power, whichever came first. But her gut told her this guy had nothing to do with her father, which if she were being honest, made her even more on edge.
‘If it makes you feel better, I love Netflix. I mean, some of the shows? Phew, They get you hooked, am I right? All those true crime documentaries and yet none about what happened in Portland in 1994…Oh well. What I mean to say is… I guess I understand why you’re a little uneasy about me. True crime does that to you.’ The guy continued talking, boy did he love to hear himself talk. Evelyn listened as he spoke about… netflix? And then he said he understood why she was a little uneasy about him. This guy had no idea the extent to her uneasiness when it came to strangers, especially ones who knew her name and had a dark aura surrounding them.
The guy then walked toward the machine right next to where she stood and, of course, the guy stood in front of that one, ultimately closing the distance between the two. Of course, that closeness didn’t last very long because Evelyn immediately put more space between them as she watched him begging to press random buttons on the very expensive espresso machine. Clearly he had no idea what the hell he was doing. ‘You know, I’ve recently come back from a trip to New Orleans and boy, some of the things I’ve heard and seen…’ And there it was. He definitely knew who she was or at the very least knew her father. “Who are you?” She asked as she walked around the counter towards the middle of the coffee shop, the two switching places. “More importantly, what the hell do you want?” Another question he probably wouldn’t answer. Then again, seeing how much this guy liked to talk, she wouldn’t put it past him to start a villainous monologue.

The devilish curl on his lips returned when she questioned how he knew her name. Arrogance began radiating from the siphoner as he debated in his own mind between revealing how he knew her name. She was on edge and Kai couldn't exactly blame her. Here he was, 2 minutes into knowing Evelyn and he wasn't doing himself any favours. Each word, each movement served the purpose of instilling uneasiness in her whilst she was in his presence. What was a serious situation for Evelyn, this was merely a passtime for Kai. He could have skipped straight to the chase but where would the fun be in that? He enjoyed the theatrics. ''Did your father not teach you any manners?'' Kai questioned, furrowing his brows. He then snapped his fingers suddenly, as if knowing the answer to his own question. ''Nevermind, don't answer that. Me and you aren't exactly popular with our fathers, are we?'' Kai viewed this as a chess game. She become uneasy with him, but now, they shared something similar. Both having suffered from their fathers wrath though, Evelyn was nowhere near as evil as Kai.
Kai rolled his eyes once again as she questioned who he was. In frustration, he slammed the side of the expensive espresso machine. One would think the frustration was directed at the machine itself but in reality, it was due to Evelyn's incessant questioning. He was becoming frustrated that it was the same questions being thrown at him which was enough to clench his jaw. He turned away from the espresso machine, his body now turned in her direction as he feigned a smile on his face, acting as if all was good with him right now.
''C'mon, Evelyn. Surely you've connected the dots. Portland... I look like Tobi, who by the way, really should have dedicated himself to riding the waves.'' His words were sinister. He then took a deep breath through his nostrils, his empty stare locked onto Evelyn. ''See, I'm not here to hurt you despite the entrance I've made. You're kind of important with what I wanna do.'' Kai stated, running his tongue across the bottom of his lip as he rethinks his intentions.
''Your father has a looooot of power and I- well, I just want it.'' There it was. Kai wasn't going to be one to withhold information from Evelyn because regardless of whether she liked it or not, he was going to get what he wanted. ''You ever hear of a siphoner, Evelyn?'' Kai turned his head to the side slightly, his eyes narrowing, ''We suck the magic outta people because we can't produce our own and maaaan, I could have just taken some out of you but instead, I want your father's. I have it on good authority that you have a problem with him and I'm thinking if we combine forces, we could become a deadly duo. Oh, I can be Batman and you can be Randy... That's his name right?'' Kai questioned curiously,
He waited for answer, his head lowering slightly.

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
EVELYN couldn’t deny that she was on edge. This guy had barged into the coffee shop unannounced, radiating power, and knew who she was. None of those things were good, especially considering what she had been going through with her father. She just couldn’t trust anyone these days, except with the exception of Cas. She trusted the angel more than anyone else in her life right now and a part of her wanted to call him, or rather, pray to him. He could help her in this situation, but she had made a vow to herself that she wouldn’t be a damsel in distress any longer. She couldn’t rely on people to save her everytime she got herself into a predicament and now is no exception. She’d handle it.
She waited for the guy to answer her questions, but just from the small time she’d been with the guy she knew he was a fan of the theatrics. ‘Did your father not teach you any manners?’ At that Evelyn was now on red alert, her heart practically beating out of her chest. So this guy knew her father, was he working for him? Was this another one of her father’s antics? Before she could respond, he snapped his fingers and told her not to answer that and then mentioned how the two of them weren’t popular with their fathers, almost like he was using that as a way for the two of them to now share an interest.
“How do you know my father?” She questioned after a few moments, wanting to know just how the hell he knew her father. But mostly she wanted to figure out if he was working for him, because if that were the case she was going to do what she needed to in order to protect herself. Evelyn watched the guy intently, her eyes following his every movement, including hitting the side of the very expensive espresso machine and she internally groaned. Please don’t break that machine, she thought to herself. If he did, the replacement was coming out of her own pocket and she couldn’t exactly afford that expense.
It seemed he was becoming frustrated at her questions, but she was going to continue to ask them until he freaking answered her. Evelyn crossed her arms over her chest and watched as he finally turned his attention from the machine to her, a smile planted firmly across his face. If he were wearing face paint she’d think he was the joker with how much he smiled and not in a good way. 'C'mon, Evelyn. Surely you've connected the dots. Portland... I look like Tobi, who by the way, really should have dedicated himself to riding the waves.’ Now at the mention of Tobi it suddenly all came together, because she remembered Tobi’s history and what had happened to his family. Oh shit. This…. This was, “Kai.” She said at the realization of who it was standing in front of her and honestly… that made things even worse if you could believe it.
Kai was a psychopath who had killed his entire family in a rage. ‘See, I'm not here to hurt you despite the entrance I've made. You're kind of important with what I wanna do.’ As if his words provided any kind of comfort. If he needed her for what he had planned… it couldn’t be good. He wanted to use her, but for what? And of course her question was then answered as he spoke. ‘Your father has a looooot of power and I- well, I just want it.’ And there it was. He wanted her father’s power for himself. How ironic. Kai continued to talk, asking if she had ever heard of a siphoner. Of course she had. Again, he continued, explaining how he could’ve just taken some of her power if he really wanted, but he wanted her father’s instead. If he got a hold of the power her father had he would be unstoppable. The last thing anyone needed was another power hungry psychopath running around, but it seems there already was one in Kai. Great.
‘I have it on good authority that you have a problem with him and I'm thinking if we combine forces, we could become a deadly duo. Oh, I can be Batman and you can be Randy... That's his name right?’ And the real motive behind his visit comes to light. He wanted her help to lure her father here so he could suck the power right from him. Which could prove useful actually to her because then her father wouldn’t be a threat to her anymore. On the other hand it would give Kai a tremendous amount of power. Evelyn was suddenly faced with a dilemma. “It’s Robin. Batman and Robin.” She said first, correcting his poor reference. How did he not know the correct sidekick name for Batman? Regardless, Evelyn had to make a decision. Neither one of her choices being good ones.
But before she could open her mouth to make said decision, the door burst open and standing at the door was a group of men who she could only assume were some of her father’s men. Fucking peachy.
