━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
FASTER and faster she ran through the woods, scrambling to get away from these relentless sons of bitches, it was exhausting. Day after day it seemed she was being chased, her father growing more and more impatient the more she denied him. She didn't know how many times she would have to reject him for him to get it through his thick skill that she wanted absolutely no part of him or his crusade. As far as she was concerned he wasn't her father any longer, that title had been stripped from him th moment he decided to abandon her, choosing power and dark magic over his only child. It was sickening and pained her deeply. But that was just how her life had been handed to her and there was nothing she could do about it. Both of her parents were gone, lost to this cruel world because of dark magic. The magic and power her father continued to grow, more and more causing him to become something he wasn't. Power was known to corrupt even the purest of hearts and her father had been no exception, turning into something so sadistic that it made her stomach churn.
It was coming time for her father's life to end once and for all, for all this bullshit to finally end so she could have even an ounce of peace, even if it were only temporary. At least she would have found the peace she had so desperately craved. Evelyn hadn't known peace since her father turned to dark magic. After her mother had cheated on her father she knew he would never be the same and he never was. From that point on he had turned into something indescribable, something so unrecognizable that it sent chills down her spine.
William Monet was a monster and he needed to be put down before he caused any more damage than he already had, if that were even possible. He had already caused so much damage, so much violence and pain that she wasn't so sure it could get any worse. How wrong she had been. Ever since denying him for a second time to his face, something inside of him had changed. He grew darker right in front of her eyes, if that were even possible. It had finally gotten through his head that his only child would not be joining him and it seemed that realization had caused something inside of him to snap even further and Evelyn was even more terrified than she had ever been before.
Evelyn was suddenly met with the cold ground as she tripped over a tree branch, causing her to tumble forwards. She groaned as she scrambled to her feet as the men looked at her, mischief written across their features and they looked at her. There were three of them and she knew by the looks of things this was her father's doing. 'Tsk tsk tsk. Your father doesn't like to be denied, Eve. I'm sure you know this by now..' They were taunting her now and their words solidified this more so than ever that this particular encounter was all her father's doing. He was trying to intimidate her, show her what happens when you deny him. But she wouldn't let him get to her anymore than he already had, she couldn't allow for him to win. She couldn't.
"Well come on then, let's get this over with." Unknowingly to these sorry sons of bitches she had some of the trinkets on her person, deciding after her father's men had kidnapped her to always carry them on her person just in case she needed them and right now she needed the extra power boost. Thank god she had decided to carry the trinkets on her because after all the shit that had been happening in town, she needed the power boost. Anything that gave her an advantage over her father and his men. Evelyn would do whatever it took to rid the world of William Monet once and for all and tonight was no exception.

━ if there's one thing that gods love, it's tragedy ━ Castiel had no idea how so many bad things could occur in one singular town, but Mystic Falls was a proof that so much could go wrong and somehow, people still resided in that town. He was concerned for everyone living in town, those supernatural and those who aren't. It seemed like there were no exceptions and instead he found himself watching as more and more innocent people lost their lives just for being present at the wrong time and wrong place. Castiel already had a lot to deal with. For example, Raziel, the angel who was dead-set on eradicating all supernatural creatures, was still out there. The longer he spent off their radar, the more Castiel grew worried. It can't be a good thing. The second and the biggest thing on Castiel's plate was the fact that no one seemed to remember who Dean was. It was like he'd never even existed, to begin with. Castiel could remember him because how could Castiel ever forget a man like him? After everything that Dean had done to save people, no one seemed to remember him and it left his stomach in knots.
Dean wasn't an innocent by any means, but he was a hero. At least to Castiel he was. Castiel who grew to know him all too well. The man had showed him the true meaning of family - had showed him what it means to care, so of course he can't just move on with his life and forget all about Dean. So, between dealing with Raziel and Dean's disappearance, Castiel had his hands very full.
But despite having quite a lot on his plate, still wanted to check on Evelyn because it's been quite some time since the last time they saw each other and while Castiel tried to keep good on his promise to always be there for her whenever she called him, like how he treated the Winchesters ━ sometimes ━ her prayers didn't always come through and when it got too quiet, he found himself torn between feeling relieved or worried over the fact because it could very well mean that she was in a lot of danger and just couldn't find a way to pray to him. So, he decided to check on her, putting his mission of finding Dean on a brief pause for the time being. Tracking her down was no hard feat, especially for an angel. But when he did find her, however, she was in trouble and there was a part of him that almost instantly wanted to step in.
That overprotective part of him that he developed after spending time with the Winchesters and seeing just how much they care for each other and how much they love one another. Perhaps it became even harder to ignore when he started looking after Henrik and Jack. Either way, it was a side of him that he couldn't turn off but for her, he was willing to try. So, instead of stepping right into the heated battle to save her from harm's way, he stood back and watched, ready to step in the moment it became clear to him that she wasn't able to save herself. He didn't want Evelyn to feel as though she was incapable of protecting herself ━ she was a powerful witch with a great potential ahead, she only needs to believe in herself and practice. Castiel frowned slightly as he looked between her and her attackers, watching the interaction closely and before he knew it, he was stepping forward but he stopped himself before he could make his presence known and instead waited. He waited for his cue to intervene as he watched closely.

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
IT didn't matter what she did or said, her father was been hellbent on getting her to join him, but he was coming to find out that wasn't ever going to happen no matter what he did or said, she would die before she would ever do so, he had to know that. But she also knew her father better than anyone else and he didn't particularly like being told no, or disappointed for that matter. She had her mother to thank for that. After her affair it seemed everything changed in her father, turning him into the man he was today. Her transgressions had ruined him. Now he was just a monster of a human being, one she absolutely wanted nothing to do with and she had told him this on more than one occasion but he just wouldn't listen.
William Monet was a stubborn man, one that wanted nothing less than perfection and wanted everything to go in his favor. He wanted her to join him but she didn't, couldn't, give him what he wanted. Expression had turned her father into something so sinister she didn't recognize him anymore, he wouldn't dabble in such magic. Not now, not later.
The men in front of her grinned as she egged them on, telling them to go ahead and get this over with as he was not in the mood for their games. She was growing tired of his games, of him sending his henchmen after her constantly. But she had a feeling also they had gone rebellious and did what they wanted to at this point in time, which if they were following her father, it was very stupid on their part to do so. Then again, these followers of her father were stupid to begin with for following him in the first place. Whatever her father had promised them wasn't going to happen. He wouldn't follow through on his promises, they had to know that he was just using them for his own personal gain, right? Probably not, but if this was the life they wanted to live then they needed to reap the consequences that followed.
All the men were doing was taunting her, thinking that she wasn’t powerful enough. That she wasn’t strong enough. Well they thought wrong. She had grown since the last time they saw her, since the last time her father had tried this nonsense and she had it. She’s had enough. "Enough!" She yelled, shooting her hand out and muttering a few words which then promptly sent them all to their knees in pain. Little aneurysm spell was her best friend nowadays. Stepping in front of the men, she looked down at them menacingly. "I have had it with the constant harassment. You tell me father if he wants me to come and face me himself instead of sending his pathetic minions after me. I won't tell you all again, leave now while you can." She said, her tone cold as she stared at the men who were obviously in pain. They hadn't expected her to actually fight back so it seems, but she was done. Evelyn had hit her breaking point and she was fed up with being the damsel in distress. From now on, if they wanted a fight, a fight was what they were going to get.

━ if there's one thing that gods love, it's tragedy ━ Castiel was surprised to see Evelyn take matters into her own hands and while there was a part of him that felt relieved that she could protect herself just fine without Castiel constantly hovering and saving her like a damsel in distress. He knew that, with time, it would've gotten old and the last thing he wanted was to push Evelyn away. Castiel stepped away from where he currently was standing so he could slowly but surely make his way closer, deciding that now would be a good time for him to reveal his presence.
His eyes lingered on Evelyn for a couple of seconds more just to make sure that she was alright before his attention soon drifted to the men in pain and the sight of the angel set them off even more. When one of them tried to get close again, Castiel merely tapped his index and middle finger on his forehead which sent him falling down unconsciously on the ground. Unharmed, just unconscious. Castiel turned his attention to his friends, one brow quirked as he looked at them through squinted eyes and in the way he stood, there was a silent challenge, to try something. A challenge they didn't rise to as they all scrambled to leave instead.
He looked down momentarily at the passed out man before he looked over at Evelyn next, watching her for a moment. They seemed pretty shaken up and in pain before he made his presence known and he was torn between feeling impressed or worried that Evelyn was venturing down a dark path. One of which he might not be able to lure her back from. He knew it was more of the latter since for a moment there, his expression shifted into one of concern. "Where did you learn that?" Castiel asked, referring to the spell she had conjured up.
He soon realized that his question might come off as an interrogating question and he pressed his lips together momentarily before he tried again. "Are you alright?" Castiel decided to go with that question instead, his eyes fixed on Evelyn still as his eyes worriedly scanned her for any injuries that may be present on her body before looking back up to meet her eyes.

━ you knew somewhere deep it was too good to be true ━
THE look on their faces was all the satisfaction she needed. Kol was right, defending herself was a hell lot more satisfying that letting herself be a damsel in distress. After that encounter with Kol, she had done some serious soul searching. Researching spellbooks, practicing her magic, she immersed herself in all things witchcraft. Evelyn wanted to be stronger, to be ready should her father finally show his face. Which could be any time soon. He had picked up on sending his followers to her, to show her that she was being watched. He wanted to show her that she wasn't above him. No matter what, he'd find her. William Monet was nothing but persistent. But when the time came for her to confront her father, she'd be ready. She would make sure she was ready.
Evelyn's eyes suddenly drifted behind the men who were currently on their knees and her eyes locked on Cas. How long had he been standing there? Her attention suddenly snapped to one of the men who tried to break free of her spell and get closer to her, but before he could Cas had intervened, with one tap of his fingers, the man was unconscious on the ground. Evelyn sighed, she had things handled and once again she was saved by a man. Not that she didn't appreciate it, of course, but she still could have handled things herself. Regardless, the men looked at their fellow comrade and then back at Cas. She knew they wouldn't try anything with him here and so she released them from her grasp and they all scrambled to leave. Within seconds they were gone.
'Where did you learn that?' Cas asked her as he approached her, stopping briefly to look at the unconscious man before looking at her. She could tell he was genuinely curious about how she managed to do what she did with the spell she had cast. "I've been practicing offensive spells." She said simply as she looked at the man on the ground before looking back at Cas. "I had things handled Cas. You didn't need to step in." She said, more so as a means to defend her actions rather than accusing him of doing anything wrong. Which, he hadn't. Cas had done what he does best, help. "But thank you." She said finally as she ran a hand through her tangled blonde hair before putting it up into a ponytail.
'Are you alright?' Cas then asked her and she sighed as she shook her head. "No, I'm not alright. My father keeps sending his men to intimidate me. It's my father's way of letting me know that he's watching me. I'm tired, Cas. Tired of the constant looking over my shoulder. It's exhausting. That's why I decided to start practicing my magic more, working more on offensive spells than anything else, because I made a promise to myself that if this happened again, I'd be ready for them. And I was. I'm not as fragile as I was when we first met Cas, I can defend myself." She said as she brushed the dirt off her clothes briefly before looking at Cas. "Come on, let's walk back towards town. I don't want to be in these woods any longer than I have to." She said as she walked towards Cas and motioned for him to follow. She knew Cas was worried about her, she could see it in his eyes. All he did was worry about her it seemed, but she would reassure him that she could take care of herself, even if he didn't believe it.
She would protect herself. She wasn't going to let herself be a damsel in distress any longer.
