I've become a bit of a mythology buff. Since I'm into a mythological guy that's, you know, buff.

– I freed myself from words never said –
Jed couldn't agree more with Ben with that statement because he felt the exact same way, too. There was simply nowhere else he would rather be. He was content right here, with Ben. When Ben asked if he can kiss him, his expression shifted into something softer and he nodded his head almost right away. "Please." That was Jed's verbal answer and he waited for Ben to lean in and that was when he met him half-way.
Jed thought about it for a moment and Ben was right. No matter what they were going to worry about him, just like how he was always worried about them. It just goes to show that you care about someone and in his case, he cared deeply about everyone in his life and he knew that they cared about him just as much. "I might shoot mom and dad a text, though. Or a voice message to let them know that I'm okay. I'm sure they've got a lot going on their plate right now, so I don't want them to think that I'm in danger, too." Jed said with a quick nod of his head following. He didn't want to add on top of their worries. He'll send Josie a message too because he was sure that her plates were already full right now and he didn't want to add on top of it all.
Jed nodded his head with a soft smile resting on his lips. Of course Ben was putting him first. He wasn't at all surprised by it. He'll just have to put Ben first, too, and take care of his fiancé since he knew that coming back from the dead was draining and disorienting. "Yeah, we have been." Jed agreed with a soft smile resting on his lips. "I missed that. Taking care of you, I mean." He thought that he'd never be able to do that again and god, he was so glad that he was wrong for once.
Jed chuckled again at Ben's words before he shook his head. "If you think that's gonna work on me just like how it had back then... You're absolutely right. I love it." Jed said with a smile resting on his lips. It brought back fond memories to hear Ben say that. "Oh, I should, huh? I think you're right. They can consider it their late housewarming gift." Jed played along since their neighbors were new to the area. He felt a soft smile form on his lips as he listened to Ben. Each time he smiled or laughed, it felt a lot less unnatural for him to do that. It was slowly but surely starting to feel natural again. "Yeah, you think so? In that case, I'll keep it then." Jed teased in a soft voice.
It didn't take long for him to admit that he'd practically been living off of animal blood. "I just couldn't risk going out to get food." Jed admitted, his voice still soft. He didn't want to risk hurting anyone. It was better to be safe than sorry. Ben's question brought Jed's attention to him, his eyes widening slightly. He considered Ben's offer for a moment and even though he didn't want to hurt him, he was actually starting to feel a bit weak and he knew that blood would be enough to make him feel a lot more rejuvenated. "I think some now would help a lot." Jed said with a quick nod of his head following. "But you — you don't have to, Ben, really. I'll be fine without any."
Jed felt so much relief flood him when he heard that Ben's father was pretty much gone for good now. "God, you have no idea how relieved I feel." Jed breathed out, feeling a huge weight lift off his shoulders. "I'm glad that he's gone and I hope that it stays that way. Forever. Are you okay, though? After listening to the angel radio, I mean?" Jed would hate to see that asshole again. "It's weird — I've thought about this for so long now. Ever since you told me about what he'd done to you, basically — and now that he's gone for good, it doesn't feel like a victory." Jed's voice was soft as he spoke, his eyes fixed ahead. "Even in his death, he's still winning." Jed shook his head with a small sigh falling from his lips. The reason that it didn't feel like a victory was because so many of them had died that day and now Hope's humanity was gone and the squad was up against something just as dangerous — a tribrid with no humanity wearing the face of someone they all cherished so deeply. But he knew that they won't stop until Hope's humanity was back on. "But, you know, having you here by my side counts as a huge victory on its own. So even with everything going on, I'm still going to consider this a huge win for me."

It was crazy to think just how much they had been through during the time they had spent together but no matter what was thrown their way they always found a way through it and they always found their way back to each other. This time wasn't any different and Ben knew that it was going to take time for the wounds to heal but now they had all the time in the world for that. It had been a long time since Ben had last asked Jed if he could kiss him but this time it felt right. In the past Jed had said that he could kiss him whenever he felt like it but Ben knew that he didn't want to make things difficult for Jed so he had felt like it would be best to ask and he felt a smile touch his lips as Jed nodded. The moment Jed gave his answer, Ben didn't hesitate in leaning forward and closing the distance between them and Jed met him half way. As soon as their lips connected Ben lost himself in the kiss, his arms wrapping around Jed and holding him to him like he didn't want to let go of him again because the truth was that he didn't. "I love you so much," he breathed as he reluctantly pulled back slightly so he could catch his breath. Ben could definitely understand why Jed wanted some time before telling his family and friends that he was back, Jed didn't feel like himself right now and Ben knew it was going to take time for that to change but they had plenty of that now. He didn't doubt that Jed's family would understand and Ben knew that he would never betray Jed's trust and tell anyone that he was back but it wasn't long before Jed was saying that he might send his parents a message. "That might not be such a bad idea. I'm sure they'll be relieved to know you're okay and I know they'll respect you needing some space," Ben assured him gently. Jenna and Ric had always seemed pretty good at understanding that so he had a feeling it wouldn't have changed. "That's one of the reasons why we're so good together," Ben said, a smile forming on his face as Jed agreed that they were good at taking care of each other. It was something that they had always been good at. "Really?" Ben asked, his expression softening as Jed said he had missed taking care of him. "I like you taking care of me," he added gently. "I've missed taking care of you too." They really had been given a second chance and Ben knew he wasn't going to waste it. "I knew it," Ben laughed as Jed said that he was right about it working. "Good thing it's the truth," he chuckled. It was a running joke between them but it was enough to bring back good memories and that wasn't a bad thing. As Jed played along and said their neighbours could consider it their late housewarming gift, Ben pretended to think about it for a moment. "Hmm, maybe not. I'd feel pretty jealous if they got to see you like that," he said, his tone teasing although his words were completely serious. As Jed spoke again, Ben found himself nodding. "I do. It's yours."Truth be told Ben hadn't known for sure what it would have been like for Jed living out in the woods but his suspicions were confirmed it seemed. "I can understand that, you didn't want to hurt anyone," he said gently. Even with his humanity turned off Jed was still a good person and Ben really was proud of him for that. He also knew what Jed was like far too well and he knew that Jed wouldn't say that having some blood now would help a lot if he wasn't starting to feel the effects of not having any. Ben's offer was a genuine one and he shook his head as Jed said that he didn't have to. "I know I don't but I want to," he assured him gently. "What's mine is yours, you know that," he added before coming to a stop and turning so that he was looking at Jed. "How do you want to do this?" he asked, knowing that whatever would make Jed more comfortable was fine with him. "I've got a pretty good idea," Ben admitted, knowing that he had felt just as relieved when he had learned that his father was gone. "I hope so too. We're better off without him," he nodded before thinking for a moment as Jed asked if he was feeling okay after listening to angel radio. "I'm feeling better than I was. I still have a bit of a headache but it'll pass when we have something to eat. I'll be fine," he assured Jed, not wanting Jed to worry about him even though Ben was pretty sure that he would anyway. As Jed said it felt like his father was still winning, Ben gave his fiancé's hand a gentle squeeze. "It might feel like that now but it will pass. Everyone my father killed has been brought back and we'll get Hope back too," he promised. "The memories will always stay with us but we're still here and he's not so we can take that as a win," he added. It was going to take time but he knew that they would all find a way through this. As Jed spoke again, Ben's smile returned. "I couldn't agree more. Having you here is a huge win for me too." It was something he hadn't thought he would get to experience again so he knew better than to take it for granted. JED SALTZMAN
