Josie knew that Hope was right, she needed to lean on her parents now more than ever but that was still easier said than done. She had stayed at Hope's last night so she wasn't sure how they had really reacted to the revelation that she had already been thinking about ways to make herself immortal for Hope but she had honestly thought that she would have plenty of years ahead of her in which to discuss it with her parents, her siblings and Hope before she made any decisions. This wasn't a part of the plan and all she could do was try and make the best of it. "I do have all of you but you're right, I do need to lean on my parents and I'll talk to them when I get home. They're probably trying to get their heads around this right now as much as we are." It had to have been a shock for her parents as well and she knew that they would get through it together. Nodding as Hope said her parents had been able to smell it on her, Josie's expression softened. "How did they take it?" They had all known that one day Hope would become a fully activated tribrid but knowing that it was going to happen one day and knowing that it had actually happened now were two very different things. Being competitive was something that Josie had inherited from her parents but it wasn't quite the same knowing that Hope had let her win. There wasn't a doubt in her mind that Hope had done so but if she won then she wanted it to be fair and square. "If you were saying that to anyone else then I would believe you but you're different with me," she said, loving smile touching her lips as she looked over at Hope. As Hope conceded and said that they would play again and she would win this time, Josie couldn't help but laugh. "I wouldn't be so sure about that, this is going to be a fair race this time and I'm going to win," she grinned, giving Hope's hand a squeeze before taking her position once more. Once the game was over she glanced over at Hope and took her girlfriend's hand once more as they moved away from the game. "I feel a lot more relaxed now, do you think we could try compulsion again?" she asked, knowing that it would be good to get a handle on that soon. HOPE MIKAELSON

Hope nodded her head as she listened to Josie. She knew that her girlfriend always had the habit of hiding how she really felt from her parents because she didn’t want to cause them any pain. She always felt the need to come second to Lizzie. Always felt the need to let her parents’ attention settle on Lizzie because she’s the one who always verbalized her discomfort and how she felt, but for Josie, it was different. She, too, felt pain. She, too, felt lost, especially after being turned into a heretic against her own will. “Just know that it will feel a lot better after talking to them. I think it will make them relieved to hear you talk about how you feel for once, too.” Hope pointed out, her voice was soft as she spoke, her eyes relaxing on her girlfriend once again as they continued walking, enjoying the atmosphere of the carnival. “As well as I expected them to, honestly. I guess I’ve been avoiding really talking to them about this, so I’ll also take my own advise and talk to them.” Hope said with a quick nod of her head following as she lifted her hand to curl a strand of hair behind her ear.
Hope’s lips stretched into a grin when Josie easily saw through her before she raised an eyebrow at her girlfriend’s competitiveness. “Oh, game on, Josie.” Hope rolled her shoulders back as she started the game once again. They played together until they were done. They moved away from the game shortly after. With their hands clasped together, they walked until Hope’s attention drifted to Josie once again. “Yeah, of course.” Hope said with a half-smile resting on her lips. “I’ll let you pick this time around.” She had picked the girl at the entrance before, so she wanted Josie to pick who she wanted to compel, too. “Just remember, there’s always time to get a grip on your compulsion. You don’t have to perfect it today.” She didn’t want her to feel like she had to get it done today. There’ll be plenty of time for them to get this done.

Josie was so used to trying to be the child that her parents didn’t need to worry about that it was sometimes easy to forget that how she felt mattered too. She had grown so used to Lizzie being the centre of attention that she wasn’t really sure how to lean on people when she needed to sometimes. Her relationship with her parents had always been a good one, she loved both of them so much and that was never going to change, but she didn’t tend to know how to tell them when she was struggling sometimes and now was no exception. She had talked to them a bit the day before and they had made it clear that they still loved her but the fact that all of this had happened so quickly was overwhelming and she knew that Hope really was right, she needed to talk to her parents and let them be there for her. “I think you’re right. None of us saw this coming so I need to remember that this is going to be difficult for them too. I need to let them be there for me,” Josie nodded. She knew that it was the truth, her parents loved her and even though this wasn’t something that any of them had expected to happen she knew that they would be there with her every step of the way. Josie knew how lucky she was, her parents loved her and she knew that her siblings would always stand by her as well so she just needed to let them. “You know me, I’m never very good at talking about my feelings but I promise I’ll try,” she added, knowing that that was a promise she wanted to keep. As Hope explained what it was like with her parents, Josie found herself nodding. “I can’t blame you for that, you’ve had this hanging over your head your whole life and that can’t have been easy,” she said gently, her expression sympathetic as she looked over at Hope. “If you want any moral support just let me know, I can be there when you talk to them if you like,” she offered, knowing that she didn’t want Hope to go through this on her own either. “Bring it on,” Josie laughed, glad to see that now the competitive streak she knew was inside Hope seemed to be shining through. They both meant business and they both gave it their all. Once they were done they moved away from the game and Josie gave Hope’s hand a gentle squeeze as they walked. Josie was glad when Hope agreed that they could try compulsion again and she nodded as Hope said she could pick this time. “Alright,” she nodded as she looked around them trying to find someone suitable that she could try it out on. As Hope said she didn’t have to perfect it today, Josie hesitated for a moment before a sigh escaped her lips. “I know but I want to feel like I’m doing something,” she admitted as she glanced over at her girlfriend. “I know compulsion won’t work on Ben’s dad but we don’t know when he’ll put in an appearance again and I don’t want to be useless like I was last time. I want to be ready,” she explained, hoping that Hope would understand. Josie had trained with her dad more than she cared to admit but even so her strength against an angel wouldn’t have done anything so all she’d been able to do was slow him down occasionally and heal the people she cared about when they got hurt. Josie knew that when Ben’s dad showed up next time she wanted to at least be able to be a part of the fight and help her friends as much as she could. Letting her gaze drift around them again, Josie stopped as her gaze came to rest on a guy manning a game that people didn’t seem too interested in right now. “How about him?” she suggested, not sure whether Hope had seen someone else who might be more suitable. The young tribrid couldn’t help but agree more when Josie said that none of them had seen the attack coming. Especially the fact that they would soon be turned into something else entirely. Hope still felt uneasy just from thinking about it. But there was nothing they could do to change that now. They will just have to cope with the new changes and find their own footing so they wouldn’t get washed away. “I know. Now’s a good time to start, though.” Hope said with a half-smile tugging at the corner of her lips. Josie was surrounded by people who cared deeply about her and she had no doubt that they would listen if she were to talk to them about everything that had gone down. Hope that she had time to think about activating her vampire side and that was her first mistake. She would no longer have to worry about that, but it still made her heart ache a little to think about it. She wouldn’t be able to have any kids — or at least, that’s what she thought — and she wouldn’t be able to choose when she activates her vampire side. That choice was taken so cruelly from her hands and she’ll never forgive Ben’s father for doing that. “I’ll keep that in mind, Jo,” Hope said with a small smile tugging at the corner of her lips when Josie offered herself as moral support if she ever needed it.
They both played the game until they were finally done and soon enough, Josie was suggesting that she could try compulsion again. “You weren’t useless,” Hope said with a shake of her head. “But I get it, It's crucial that we're ready to face Ben's father when the time comes,” Hope added a moment later. When Josie picked someone, Hope nodded her head. “Let’s go, then.” Hope began making her way over to the man who beamed slightly to see customers interested in the game that he was running. “Can I help you, ladies?” The man asked, his tone was kind, unlike the girl from before. Hope turned her attention to Josie to watch her curiously.

Josie had been so focused on trying to find a way to break Ben’s curse or at least stop the monsters from finding him that she hadn’t even spared a thought for his father who had cursed him in the first place. Now it seemed silly but it was too late now. Hope’s chance to decide how she activated her vampire side had been taken away from her and so had Josie’s decision about what the future she and Hope would have was going to be like. Now all they could do was try and pick up the pieces but she knew that they would figure it out and they would try and make the best of it the same way they always did. “I know. A lot has changed lately so perhaps it’s time that part of me changed as well,” Josie shrugged. She knew that Hope was right, she needed to start leaning on people especially her parents and letting them be there for her. The truth was that ever since she was young she had always taken a backseat to Lizzie and that hadn’t changed as they got older but Josie knew that it was about time that she at least started trying to put herself first and make sure that she had the support she needed. Her emotions were heightened now and the last thing she wanted was to end up feeling like a ticking time bomb. “I promise I’ll try and I know that no matter what I’ll still have you and our friends as well.” The Squad always stood by each other and she knew that that wasn’t going to change. As Hope said she would keep it in mind that she was there for moral support if she needed it, Josie nodded. “I’m always here for you, you know that,” she said, offering her girlfriend a gentle smile. They were best friends before they got together and they still looked out for each other now so she knew that she wasn’t going to let Hope face any of this alone either. Once they were done with the game Josie suggested that they try compulsion again although her voice sounded more confident than she felt. She knew that Hope was right, she didn’t need to master it in a day but she knew that she needed to make sure that she was more useful in the next fight than she had been the day before and that meant feeling comfortable in her skin and learning to use her new abilities, even the ones that wouldn’t necessarily be useful against Ben’s dad. “I felt like it. All I could really do was heal you guys, I managed to hurt him but not for long,” Josie sighed. “He threw me away like I was nothing and if it wasn’t for you then I wouldn’t be here. I need to be able to do more next time.” She wasn’t as strong as any of the others were but now she could put up more of a fight. Ben’s dad had snapped MG’s neck with ease and there wasn’t anything to say that he couldn’t do the same to her or worse but she was stronger and faster now so she could at least be on more of an even keel with her friends. “I’ll speak to dad and make sure we all get more training sessions with him, I think we’re going to need them,” she admitted. Josie knew that now they were all stronger and faster than her dad was but he had the skills and techniques that they didn’t have so she knew that they had a lot to learn from him still, or at least she did. Nodding as Hope said they should go, Josie found herself offering the man a smile as they reached him. Taking a deep breath, she fixed him levelly with her gaze and made sure her voice carried through with it a confidence and authority that hadn’t been there before. “Yes, you can. We’ve already given you enough money for a few rounds of your game so you’re going to let us play,” she said, her heart dropping as a flash of confusion crossed his face. “Sorry but I think you’re confused, you haven’t paid me anythi-” he said, his voice trailing off as Josie interrupted him. “We have already paid you, you’ve seen the money in the pouch and you’re going to let us play,” she said, using all of her willpower to get him to do as she said. He looked confused for a moment longer before a smile touched his lips and the same look came over him that she’d seen in other people who had been compelled before. “You’re right, sorry that was my mistake. You girls enjoy the game,” he said before moving away from them and as he moved away Josie turned to look at Hope in surprise. “Did that really just work?” she asked, needing to make sure that the guy hadn’t just taken pity on them and gone along with it to make his life easier. Hope nodded her head in agreement with Josie when she said that perhaps it was time for that part of her to change, especially when so many changes had happened around them already. "I know that it will only bring you closer to your parents. Being close to your parents and sharing things with them does make you feel better in the long run, trust me." Hope advised with a quick nod of her head following, her eyes relaxing on her girlfriend once again before a soft smile began tugging at the corner of her lips. "And you're right. You have me, and the rest of the squad, too. We'll always be there." Hope was confident in the squad and the code that they had to never leave anyone behind. They cared deeply about each other and Hope was more than happy that she was part of this squad. "Of course. I'll always be here for you too."
"Look, you may not have the claws, or the super strength that some of us have, but you have other qualifications too that make you strong and special, Jo." Hope's voice was soft as she spoke, though she couldn't help but think back to the moment that Ben's father had flung her away like she weighed nothing and the way it had made Hope's heart drop. "I could only hurt him for a little bit, too and I'm the almighty tribrid." Hope breathed out a soft chuckle at the last part. She really didn't think of herself as an almighty tribrid. A cosmic mistake, maybe. But nothing about her was almighty. "We fought him without knowing the weak points of an angel, we weren't prepared in any way, shape, or form to take him on and he knew that. He knew he'd have the element of surprise in his favor when he attacked us. That played a huge part in our loss too, Jo. I'd imagine if you knew his weaknesses, you would've kicked his ass way harder than that and don't worry, we'll do better next time. Next time, we'll kill him. For good." Hope knew the risks, knew that killing an angel was no easy feat but she was going to make him pay for everything he's done. "Good thinking. We'll definitely need them."
Hope watched quietly as Josie attempted to compel the man, her tone adapting a whole new confidence that wasn't there before. Just hearing her was enough to put a smile to Hope's lips as she watched Josie. She didn't interfere this time, even when it seemed like Josie's compulsion wasn't working. There was an encouraging look on her face as she kept her eyes fixed solely on Josie, watching her. She knew that Josie was capable of getting it right this time. She believed in her capabilities.
When she was proven right, Hope's lips stretched into a grin as she watched the compulsion do its magic. When Josie turned to her in surprise, she let out a soft chuckle at the endearing reaction. "It really did work, yeah." Hope said with the same grin on her lips. "You're getting the hang of your powers pretty quickly. I'm proud and impressed." Hope's voice was soft as she praised Josie. "With practice, you'll get it right from the first time, too. Don't worry."

“I know. I love spending time with them, I just sometimes feel bad opening up about what’s going on with me when they have Lizzie to think about,” Josie admitted. She loved her twin sister but for as long as she could remember it was Lizzie who had always had a habit of capturing their parents’ attention while Josie had always stayed in the background. She wasn’t used to being the centre of attention the way her sister was but her parents had always made her feel safe and loved and right now she needed that more than ever so she knew that she had to let them be there for her if she was going to get through this. They had all rallied around Raf after he became a hybrid but he’d struggled so much and Josie had often wondered whether that was because he hadn’t had parents he could lean on. Her own had tried to be there for him and so had the other teachers at the school but it wasn’t the same. “I need their help with this though and hopefully talking to them will help them see that I’ll be okay too,” she added. She knew that it wasn’t just about her, her parents were dealing with the fact that she was a heretic too so she was certain that pulling away from them now would make things even worse. “I know. We always look out for each other,” she nodded, a smile touching her lips as she looked over at her girlfriend before her expression softened as Hope said that she would always be there for her too. “I know. We’re stuck with each other now,” she teased. “I’m glad you think so. I know I won’t be as strong as you guys but I’m a vampire now so at least I can put that strength and speed to good use,” Josie shrugged. “I’m going to try and make my magic stronger too.” She knew that she needed to be able to do more than she’d done before in order to help her friends. Ben’s father had caught them off guard and they really hadn’t known what they were facing but next time they were going to be much better prepared, of that she was certain. “That’s true but you hadn’t activated your vampire side then. Now you have so you’ll be able to do a lot more too,” she said gently. “I know he said some awful things to all of us but please don’t let him get inside your head,” she added, knowing that she was going to do her best to take her own advice on that. It was going to take a lot of practice for both of them to stand a better chance against Ben’s father but Josie knew that neither of them was afraid to put the work in. She already planned on talking to her dad about sparring sessions, they’d always had them on a regular basis but now she knew that she would take them that much more seriously and she hoped he might agree to have more of them so she could get ready for anything that might come their way. “We’ll definitely do better next time, I actually won’t be surprised if mom and dad are in the library right now researching angels so they can help us figure out his weak points,” she admitted. There was a part of her that wondered if perhaps they should be doing that too but right now they needed to get used to their new abilities and more than anything they needed some time to process everything that had happened the day before. “Castiel doesn’t want us to kill him but even if we can imprison him so he can’t hurt anyone else that will be something.” Ben’s father’s view of the world had definitely become twisted but she imagined that killing an angel wasn’t going to be easy so she knew that she would be happy as long as he didn’t end up hurting anyone else. “Definitely,” she agreed as Hope said they were going to need the training sessions with her dad. Josie was used to spending time around vampires but it was one thing to see them use their abilities and it was something completely different to try using them herself. She hadn’t been able to compel the first time she’d tried it and she would be lying if she said that she wasn’t disappointed in herself for that even though Hope had assured her that there was no reason for her to feel that way. Everything took time at first but Hope was such a natural with it all and Josie knew that she wanted her girlfriend to see her the same way. It was crazy, she knew that, but she couldn’t help it. She had grown up with Elena so she had seen the girl use her abilities as well but not that often compared to how often Hope had probably seen her family use theirs. In a way she knew that she had probably ended up overthinking it the first time around. This time she felt much more relaxed and she didn’t even let the fact that it didn’t work first time bother her. Instead she simply tried again and this time it took. She was still surprised and that surprise was written all over her face apparently as she turned to look at Hope but she felt a slightly bewildered smile touch her lips as Hope laughed. “I can’t believe it,” she admitted as Hope confirmed that it had worked. “Thank you,” she said sincerely as Hope said she was both proud and impressed. “I couldn’t do this without you,” she admitted, giving her girlfriend’s hand a gently squeeze. “I hope so. I don’t think I’ll end up using it too much but it could come in handy sometimes,” she nodded. “How about we play this game and then grab a slushy?” she suggested, knowing that she was ready for one now after the bet they’d made earlier. "I think you're overthinking this. Of course they'll have time to listen to you. Plus, I think Lizzie's been in the spotlight for long enough. Now it's your turn." Hope was aware that Lizzie had many issues, but Josie also deserved to have her parents' undivided attention and also deserved to share her worries without being too concerned about overwhelming them. Dr. Saltzman and Jenna seemed like amazing parents and she had no doubt in her mind that they would listen to her if she ever came to them and spoke her mind without worrying too much. Hope nodded her head as she listened to Josie, knowing that just talking to each other would help them realize a lot of things. "It will." She assured her with a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips. Hope was glad that she knew that the squad and Hope were gonna be there for her, no matter what. They always had each other to lean on and each other to talk to if they ever wanted to talk about anything.
Hope knew that Josie had a lot of great potential and she was someone who was capable of being really strong, too. She had a lot of faith in her girlfriend and she knew the squad felt the same way. "Now that you're a vampire, it's going to make a lot of difference combat-wise, too. You'll be more agile. Not to mention, faster and stronger too." Hope said with a quick nod of her head following. Now that Hope had activated her vampire side, too, she felt the difference especially in combat training. She could move a lot faster than before and she was a lot more agile. She knew it would make a big difference. "I know you can do it." Hope had no doubt that with Josie trying to work on her magic and her embracing her vampire side, she'd be an unstoppable force, more than she already was before her turn. Hope was disappointed in herself for her inability to inflict actual harm on Ben's dad. She was only able to hurt the body that he was in, but even then, it looked like it only slowed him down and didn't actually hurt him a great deal. She should have been able to do more. She was born to do more than just die and fail miserably. "I hope so." Hope replied with a gentle smile forming on her lips. "Don't worry, I won't. His words mean nothing to me." The man was basically a stranger to her. An angel filled with so much hatred for them when they haven't even done anything to him.
Hope nodded her head in agreement with Josie because she could vividly see the two of them in the library, reading every little thing about angels to help them find a way to put an end to the angel's madness before he could eradicate all of them before they could even experience what life has to offer. "Well, then that sucks for Castiel, doesn't it? He wasn't the one who got killed by that monster. I don't care if Castiel's goal is to save as many of his kind as possible, someone like him doesn't deserve to live. Not even in prison." Maybe it was the Mikaelson blood flowing through her veins that made her want to seek revenge instead of finding a way to imprison Ben's dad. Honestly, she wanted nothing more than to find a way to kill him. She didn't want him to live.
Hope put aside her hatred for the angel and her strive for vengeance in order to pay attention to Josie as she compelled her first human and honestly? It made Hope pretty proud. "Oh, trust me, you could have. You are more powerful than you think, Josie." Hope said when Josie said that she couldn't have done it without her. Honestly, Hope disagreed with that. Josie was resilient and smart, she would've been able to get through her first compulsion without Hope's help. "Oh, it's definitely a big help." Hope agreed with a nod of her head following, her hand squeezing Josie's. "You're on, Jo." Hope said with a smile tugging on her lips as Josie suggested that they play the game and get slushy after. They still had that bet from earlier, after all. "Be ready to buy me a bluebarry and raspberry slushy." Hope added a moment later with a brief chuckle falling from her lips as she readied herself to play the game.

“I guess you’ve got a point there,” Josie grinned as Hope said that it was her turn to be in the spotlight. In the past she had always been happy to stay quiet while her parents and the rest of the family tried to help Lizzie and in doing so she had become the kind of person who preferred to suffer in silence. She wasn’t used to opening up about what was bothering her a lot of the time but she knew that this was different. Her life had been changed completely and she knew that this time she needed to let her parents be there for her. “I’ll talk to them when I get home, I promise,” she nodded. “I know they want to be there for me, I just need to let them.” Her parents were incredible but she was so used to being the strong one that it was hard to let go of that and let them know how she was really feeling. She knew that she needed to try, though, and she didn’t doubt that her parents would be there for her. Josie knew that she was lucky because at the end of the day she had the best family and friends that she could ever ask for. There was a part of her that wished that she could lean on Lizzie as well but she knew that her sister wasn’t in a good place right now so she wasn’t so sure that that was a good idea. “That’s what I’m counting on. I know dad always held back on training me before but now I want to learn it all,” Josie admitted. She needed to be better able to protect herself and the people she loved and now that she was a heretic she could use both magic and her new vampire abilities. She wasn’t the same girl that she was just twenty four hours ago and she knew that she didn’t want her dad to worry about hurting her any longer. She could already feel that she was stronger than she had ever been before and she knew that she needed to learn how to use that to her advantage. “Thanks,” she said, a smile touching her lips as Hope said she knew that she could do it. The whole thing was incredibly scary but Josie knew that she wasn’t going through this alone, she had Hope with her and she knew that they would figure this out together. As Hope said that Ben’s dad’s words meant nothing to her, Josie nodded. “Good because he doesn’t know you at all, not like we do,” she said gently. “He doesn’t know the first thing about Ben either, all he sees is a disappointment because Ben did something he didn’t like.” It was messed up, that was for sure, and she knew that the angel wanted them to stop trying to find a way to figure out how to break Ben’s curse but they weren’t going to do that. He was their friend and she had suffered too much already so it was time they figured something out so that he and Jed could have a real future together. “I know he doesn’t but killing isn’t how we do things, not if there’s another way,” Josie said gently. They always tried to find another way first rather than becoming the monsters that people thought that they were. She knew that Hope was hurting right now just like Josie was and she couldn’t blame her girlfriend for wanting Ben’s dad dead because the truth was that she felt the same way but going through with it was something else entirely. “Besides, is it even possible for us to kill an angel? Last time we barely hurt him. Imprisoning him might be the best we can do,” she added. Honestly as long as he couldn’t hurt anyone else then that was all she wanted right now. “Maybe but I like having you here with me,” Josie conceded. She had thought about becoming a vampire for Hope but she had thought that it wouldn’t be for years. Now that decision had been taken out of her hands and all she could do was try and make the best of it now. “I can see why,” she admitted as Hope said that compulsion was a big help. It definitely had its advantages but Josie didn’t like the fact that she was taking away a person’s free will so she knew that she would only use it when she absolutely needed to. As Hope spoke again Josie couldn’t help but laugh. “Bring it on but for the record, you’re the one who is going to end up buying the slushies,” she grinned as she took her position to start the game.
