Summer time was often family time for Josie and the truth was that she loved that. She got to see her family every day but they all had their own lives and when she had schoolwork to do during term time it wasn’t as easy to be able to spend time with them as she would like. Weekends were always easier but aside from Lizzie, all of her other siblings were in college and at the weekend they often liked to spend some time with their friends. It was different while they were all at home together, though, and for that she was grateful. That morning she had been able to spend some time hanging out with her sisters for an hour or so before they all went off and did their own thing and as time went on she started getting ready for her shopping trip with her mom. The others could have gone with them if they’d wanted to but they had other plans so instead it had turned into a trip for just the two of them and Josie couldn’t remember the last time that they had been able to do that. Usually there was always at least one other person around but not this time and if she was honest she was looking forward to being able to spend some time alone with her mom and hopefully pick up a few new things for the summer as well. Sending a quick text to Jeremy and Kyle to ask if they wanted her to pick them up anything while she was out since she’d forgotten to ask them before they’d headed out with her dad, Josie got changed and pulled a brush through her hair before grabbing her bag from where it was hanging over the side of the dresser. Checking that she had her phone and purse together with the list of the couple of items of makeup that Lizzie had asked her to get, she pulled on her shoes before heading downstairs. It didn’t take her long to find her mom and she felt a smile form on her face as she looked over at the woman. “I’m ready when you are. Did you think of anything you want to pick up today?” she asked, not sure whether her mom had anything in mind or whether she just wanted to take a look around. JENNA SALTZMAN

Jenna liked going shopping. It was therapeutic for her, actually. She liked seeing what the shops had to offer and right now, she was getting ready to go shopping with her daughter, Josie. She was definitely looking forward to it. She made a list of things that she needed to get, just so that she wouldn't splurge and get things she didn't need but thought were cute at the time. She always had that mind-set where if she found something adorable, she'd buy it and find a use for it later. But not right now, she can be an adult and get only what the house needs.
Jenna looked up from where she was putting on her shoes and sent Josie a smile as she pushed herself up. "I was thinking of getting more storage places for the kitchen and those organizers because the drawers are a mess. Same for my bedroom, it's just a mess in there where my makeup mixes up with other products and it's kinda hard to spot 'em, so. I was thinking of getting those first and then I was thinking of getting some more clothing hangers and a coat for the winter since it's approaching way too quickly for comfort." Jenna said with a chuckle falling from her lips, her hand lifting to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. "What about you? Are you looking for anything or?"

Josie didn’t act like a girly girl too often but she couldn’t deny that she liked going shopping. For her it was more often about who she was able to spend time with while she was there rather than being about what she was going to buy, she liked to spend time with her parents, siblings and friends while she was out and in Axel’s case she had enjoyed teaching him more about the way things worked. The summer was upon them and even though Josie knew that it wouldn’t be long before they all had to head back to school, she knew that she wanted to enjoy the free time she had while it lasted. She loved being at school as she had always been somewhat of a bookworm and she loved learning new things but every now and then even she needed some downtime and that was exactly what she hoped to get that day. Being able to spend some time with her mom was definitely a bonus although she couldn’t help but roll her eyes playfully as her mom said that she was only looking at getting some things for around the house. “Where’s the fun in that?” she teased, knowing that Lizzie would definitely have something to say about that when she found out. “You ought to get something for yourself mom, you deserve a treat,” she added, hoping that her mom would listen. She always worked hard and when she wasn’t working she was looking after all of them. Josie could definitely understand her needing to pick up some things for around the house but she didn’t want the shopping trip to be all about that, she wanted to make sure that her mom got at least one thing for herself as well. As her mom asked if she was looking for anything, Josie’s expression turned thoughtful for a moment. “I want to see if I can find some new books as I’ve almost finished mine and I could do with getting some new clothes as well,” she admitted. She had almost finished the book she was reading so she wanted to make sure that she didn’t run out and some of her clothes were getting a bit old so she knew that it would do her good to replace some of them. “I might try and pick up some toys and treats for the animals at the shelter too,” she added, knowing that it wouldn’t hurt to spoil them a little. “Lizzie wants some more make up as well,” she said as she put the list in her pocket so she couldn’t forget it. “Shall we go?”JENNA SALTZMAN

"Oh, Jo. You're gonna make me splurge and got a lot of stuff, aren't you?" Jenna asked with a chuckle falling from her lips. She looked at her daughter for a moment before she released a small hum of agreement. "Yeah... I guess you're right. I could definitely do with some new clothes and makeup." Jenna revealed with a quick nod of her head. "Alright then, I'll treat myself. What a bad influence you are." She joked in a light-hearted manner as her lips stretched to form a soft smile.
"Oh what a book-lover you are. It's cute." Jenna said with a fond smile forming on her lips. "Alright then, we'll get you everything you need." She said with a quick nod of her head following. "Yeah, we can definitely buy a couple of things for the shelter. Gotta spoil the lil ones, too." Jenna said with a soft smile on her lips, looking quite proud of Josie for working in a shelter. She had such a good heart and it made Jenna so proud.
"Oh, look at you, having a little list just like your mama." Jenna revealed her written list with a chuckle falling from her lips. "Alright, yeah. I'm ready. Let's get the show down the road." She began making her way out of the house with her daughter. She headed to the car, smiling fondly when she remembered how they used to have baby seats in the back. They always looked quite adorable in it.
Jenna fastened her seatbelt once she was in the car and started heading toward the mall, knowing it would be easier for them to find everything there without having to drive to various locations to find everything they need. Jenna parked the car and got out shortly after, moving around it to get to her daughter's side, waiting for her to join her. "Okay, let's do this." Jenna was excited, honestly. She can't remember when was the last time she'd shopped for herself and not for the house. She was certain that she was going to have quite a lot of fun here with Jo.

“Definitely,” Josie laughed as her mom asked if she was going to make her buy lots of things. Her mom always took such good care of all of them but she rarely seemed to treat herself so Josie wanted to make sure that she had the chance to do that today. Her mom and dad both worked so hard but they didn’t often tend to take time out for themselves it seemed so Josie wanted to make sure that her mom did for once. “You love it,” she teased as her mom called her a bad influence. “Seriously though, you work so hard and you look after all of us so I want to make sure that you have some fun today and treat yourself,” she added gently. She was pretty sure that her mom wouldn’t do that without someone prompting her to do so and Josie had no problem with being that person. “I can’t help it, I guess I get it from dad,” Josie grinned as her mom called her a book lover. She knew that her dad always liked reading and doing research so she was pretty sure that she had ended up getting it from him although she really didn’t mind one bit. “Thanks,” she said as her mom said that they would get her everything that she needed. “I’m glad you feel the same,” Josie admitted as her mom said that they had to spoil the animals as well. Josie was still finding it hard to resist the urge to bring one of them home with her but she was doing her best to ignore that urge for the time being because she wasn’t sure that her family would go for it. “I feel so bad for them, I want to make it a little better if I can,” she added. She had always had a soft spot for animals so the truth was that volunteering at the animal shelter really was perfect. As her mom mentioned her list, Josie couldn’t help but laugh. “I learnt from the best,” she grinned before her face fell. “Shoot, I forgot to ask Jed if he wanted anything. I’ll have to text him on the way,” she said, mentally kicking herself for not asking her brother if there was anything that he wanted. She hadn’t asked her dad either but she didn’t doubt that he would have let her mom know if there was anything he wanted them to get for him. Climbing into the passenger’s seat, Josie fastened her seatbelt and did as she had said by texting Jed on the way and it wasn’t long before they arrived. Climbing out of the car, she joined her mom and felt a smile form on her face as she nodded. “Let’s do this,” she agreed. “Where shall we start?”JENNA SALTZMAN

Jenna felt a grin form on her lips at Josie's words before she nodded her head a few times in agreement. Her daughter was definitely right. She loved it. "You see right through me." Jenna said with a grin still resting on her lips. Her eyes soon softened at her daughter's words, finding them extremely sweet. "You're such a sweet girl. Thank you, Jo. I really appreciate that." Jenna said with a softness to the smile that was resting on her lips. "Just so you know, taking care and looking after you guys is fun. It's not like, a chore for me or anything like that. It's not even tiring. Having a family like this has always been my dream and now that II have it, I just want to take care of you guys and cherish you very, very deeply."
"Oh, yes you do because I definitely don't enjoy reading." Jenna said with a chuckle falling from her lips."Yeah, of course. They deserve a little spoiling too." Jenna said with a gentle smile tugging at her lips. "Don't worry, baby. They'll find their forever homes." Jenna said with a nod of her head following.
"Oh, what a charmer you are." Jenna said with a chuckle falling from her lips as she shook her head fondly at how adorable Josie was. "Oh, it's okay, baby. Like you said, you can text him and we can grab whatever he asks for. Knowing him, he'll probably say that he doesn't need anything and then look through the stuff we bought when we get back home." Jenna pointed out with a chuckle falling from her lips as she got out of the car. "Hm, good question." Jenna thought about it for a moment, her head tilted slightly to the side. "Let's head over to the bookstore first. It's the closest one."

“I always do,” Josie grinned as her mom said she saw right through her. The two of them were quite alike in a lot of ways and Josie wasn’t afraid to talk her mom into spoiling herself when they went shopping. Josie knew that there were probably a lot of girls her age who didn’t like going shopping with their mom but the truth was that she still loved it. She knew that she and Lizzie had been aged up by the spell but she still had so many special memories of going shopping with her mom and she was always eager to make more of those. “It’s the truth,” Josie assured her as her mom said she appreciated what she’d said. Both her parents worked so hard and Josie knew that it was important to make sure that they got some down time too. “I know. I’m glad your dream came true,” she admitted gently. “You’re a natural and we’re all so lucky to have you,” she added with a smile. She knew that she could always talk to both of her parents about anything and that kind of relationship was something that not everyone her age got to have so she knew better than to take it for granted. “I won’t argue with that, I like that I got traits from both of you,” Josie laughed. She had definitely inherited her dad’s love of books and reading had been one of her favourite things in the world to do for as long as she could remember. “Definitely. Some of them have been there for a while so they could use something to brighten their day. It’s honestly difficult not to ask you if I can bring one of them home with me each time I get back from the shelter,” she admitted. Josie had always loved animals and she longed to have a pet of her own but with so many of them in the house she knew that it probably wasn’t something that her family would go for so she really was doing her best to resist. “I hope so,” she nodded as her mom said the animals would find their forever homes. “I’ll take that as a compliment,” she grinned as her mom said she was a charmer. She hadn’t meant it to come across that way but she couldn’t deny that she was pleased. “That’s true. I normally try and make sure I’ve got at least one thing for him since he always seems so disappointed otherwise,” Josie admitted. Whether or not he actually was she wasn’t sure but Jed meant the world to her and she always wanted to make sure that he got something out of the shopping trip as well even if he wasn’t actually there with them. “Alright,” she nodded as her mom said they should head over to the bookstore first. It wasn’t long before they reached it and Josie soon found herself scanning the titles on the shelf. Soon enough she had found a few books she wanted and she looked over at her mom as they made their way over to the till to pay. “Hey mom, do you think you could help me find something for Hope while we’re here as well?” she asked. She wasn’t sure exactly what she wanted to get the other girl yet and it was a little awkward considering that Josie had feelings for her even though they weren’t together but she knew that she wanted to get her something if she could. Jenna was lucky to have been blessed with such a sweet girl. Jenna's expression softened at Josie's words when she told her that she was a natural. When they first had the girls, Jenna had absolutely no idea what she was doing but she did what her instincts pushed her to do. Maybe looking after Elena and Jeremy had helped in a way and with the help of everyone around her, she was able to take on the role of a mother which was definitely a blessing. "Thank you, my sweet girl." Jenna said with a gentle smile resting on her lips.
Josie had definitely taken a lot from both her and her dad. It was obvious even from a mile away. Jenna could see both herself and Alaric in the way she acted and talked. it was honestly pretty adorable. Jenna was beyond lucky to have her in her life as her daughter. "Well, sweetheart, you know I won't say no to that. As long as it's something that you and your sister want." Jenna really wasn't opposed to the idea of a pet. "I know your dad would say the same thing but you can always ask him too beforehand." Jenna added a moment later. Just like Jenna, he would always pick the happiness of his daughters before anything else. "You could always do what your generation does nowadays. Publicity through the internet? It would bring the attention of everyone to the shelter and they'd be able to browse and see the animals that are available for adoption." Jenna proposed.
"We'll look around and see if anything stands out." Jenna said with a quick nod of her head following. She was pretty glad to know that the kids cared about each other so much. As the headed over to the bookstore, Jenna busied herself with looking at the titles, even picking a few books to check the contents before putting them back. It seemed like nothing had captured her attention this time either. She followed Josie to the till so that they could pay with Jenna offering her credit card to pay with it. Jenna looked over at Josie when she called out for her, her expression turning curious for a moment before her expression softened. "Oh, of course, sweetheart." Jenna said with a quick nod of her head following. "That's very thoughtful of you." Jenna added a moment later, her softness still visible in the tone of her voice. "Well then, do you know what she likes?" Jenna asked with a curious tilt of her head, knowing that the two were close.

Josie knew that there were some people her age who didn’t like spending too much time with their parents but she knew that that was never going to be her. She’d always had a good relationship with her own parents and she tried to spend time with them as much as she could. There were times when she felt a little pressure being their daughter given that they had built a school to keep her and Lizzie safe but the truth was that Josie loved them for it. She wasn’t sure how she would have found it going to a normal school and trying to figure out the whole being a witch thing. Now she was surrounded by people like her and she had a family that loved her so she knew that she really was lucky. As her mom thanked her, Josie felt a smile touch her lips. “You don’t need to thank me, it’s the truth. I love you mom,” she said gently as she looked over at her. She knew that she really was lucky to have the parents she had and she wouldn’t want it any other way. It was true that Josie struggled not to bring a pet home with her from the shelter whenever she went there but she couldn’t deny that she was surprised when her mom said that as long as it was something that she and her sister wanted then she wouldn’t say no. “Wait, you mean it?” she asked, the surprise evident in her voice as she spoke. “Do you think dad, Jed and the others would be okay with it?” She knew that a pet might not be high on their priorities but if she was honest she had always wanted one and being around so many at the shelter definitely reminded her of just how much. “I’ll definitely ask dad, it’s only fair,” she nodded, knowing that she wasn’t the kind of person to just bring a pet home without asking and expect him to go along with it. As her mom suggested social media, Josie nodded. “It might be worth a shot, I can spread the word at school as well,” she agreed. Her friends were supernatural but that didn’t mean that they couldn’t still help an animal in need. “Sounds good to me,” Josie nodded as her mom said they would have a look around and see if anything stood out that Jed might like. Josie never liked him being left out when they went on a shopping trip so she always tried to make sure she picked up at least one thing for him. Heading over to the till once she’d found the books she wanted, Josie was a little disappointed to see that her mom hadn’t found any that she liked the look of but it was only the first shop so she knew that there was plenty of time. “Thanks mom,” she said sincerely as her mom paid. She hadn’t expected her to since she had brought some money with her but she was grateful nonetheless. Putting the books into a bag once they had paid, Josie turned to look at her mom and her expression turned thoughtful for a moment. “She loves jewellery so we might see something she’ll like,” she said at last, hoping that they would. Hope meant so much to her and Josie knew that she wanted to surprise Hope with something from the trip if she could. JENNA SALTZMAN

"I love you too, kiddo. Very much." Jenna said with a soft smile resting on her lips. It never failed to make her feel proud, seeing Josie all grown like this. She was a wonderful person and she often looked at her little girl thinking that she had done that. She'd brought this wonderful and caring girl to the world. "I think they would be down for it. You can ask them and I just have a feeling that they'll all agree to bring the little fur baby home." Jenna said with a quick shrug of her shoulders with a gentle smile resting on her lips. She nodded her head when Josie told her that she'll ask Ric, too. "Good girl. Let me know if you need any help."
"You're welcome, sweetheart." Jenna replied when Josie thanked her. "Hm. Sounds good to me, then." Jenna nodded her head a few times, looking around with a hint of curiosity in her eyes. "Let's go in there. It looks pretty interesting." The shop had all sorts of knickknacks. But, it was the decoration pieces that captured Jenna's attention. She did end up putting a head statue in the basket just because it looked like a pretty statement piece to have in the house. She got a few more items to decorate the house with before paying for her things. "I think I saw a store with some pretty jewelry pieces. Let's check it out. Maybe you'll find something that suits Hope." Jenna said, gesturing to where she had seen the shop as she held her plastic bags with her, approaching that store to see if anything will capture Josie's eyes.
