Kiba has been gone for a while. He left town without a word. He just quit his job and returned back home. His true homeland Sweden. It was nice to be home. After being trapped by a hunter. Kiba couldn’t remember much, only that he was scared, so very afraid. Being locked up in a cage that caused him pain and being fed wasn't a nice feeling. He remembered the eyes, it was so creepy looking. He couldn’t stay in that town anymore. He knew aurelie was still there and he hoped she was ok. The love between them was still there. He hope it was still strong when he returned, there were going to questions he knew that. Going back to Sweden was the best thing. Kiba needed to get his head back together. Whatever happened to him made him angry, seeing things and very dangerous. Being back in his pack got his mentality back. He saw things clearly. His alpha was great with him. He listened to his wisdom and words. Closing his eyes the words replayed in him his mind ‘Solen, månen, jorden, din med alla. vargen inuti dig är en’ Kiba repeated these words, he remembered what he was taught. Soon he was confident in himself again and again he said goodbye to his pack. It was time for him to return back to the town. Kiba wasn’t sure he would get his job back, but he tried again when he was ready. He got the money situation sorted by his alpha, so that was good enough for him to relax. The town hasn't changed much as he drove through in his truck. Kiba was wearing normal clothes this time, a plain white shirt, black pants and navy jacket. Kiba was looking like he was a detective or even an FBI agent, but wasn’t either. He slowly opened the door and walked in. Kiba chose this place as it was where Aurelie worked before he left town suddenly. He was hoping she was still here so he could explain to her, the reason he left and everything else. He sat at the table which he always went to. He looked around keeping an eye out for her, but another waitress came instead. “Hyia can I have a cheeseburger and milk coffee one sugar please” he ordered and waited for his meal to come, as he pulled out his cellphone and checked to see anyone have text him or not.

Having dinner solo had had become a far more frequent thing. Where it had once been a family dinner at the table every night, the only rare exceptions being school related on Allison’s part … or business related on his own, now it was a matter of his daughter being out there enjoying the life none of them had ever expected her to see again and his multiple-great-grandmother’s reunion with her husband. Both were there when they could be, family still an integral part of their lives but as it should’ve been, even if it would never settle well with him, they were living their own lives.
Chris supposed that was a father’s lot in life, to see his kids grow up and move on. The tether would always be there between them, he and Allison closer than most parents thanks to the tragedies in their lives, but his daughter was an adult now. He had to remind himself of it daily and feel that pang for what had been in the pit of his stomach when he closed the door to an empty home behind him.
The drive from their home to the Grill had been short, his gaze flicking between the sidewalks rushing past, the woods that you could see at the end of practically every street in town and the phone sat in its holder on the dashboard. Allison would call when she was headed home, til then he was at another loose end. Between cases, still troubled about just what was going on in town.
He picked up the phone as he parked up in the square and turned off the engine. It ticked in the cooling night air as he thumbed through, like it wouldn’t have displayed his messages right there in flickering motion on the screen while the phone had been out of his hand for ten minutes. A drag of his thumb across the screen, a slight frowning reflected in it at the sight of an email from a hunter he’d worked for before in Washington. A case there that he’d like advice on, not an emergency but if he had the time to read the newspaper report through. Chris raked his teeth over his lower lip, it was something to do over dinner at least, instead of continually checking for a message from Allison that likely wouldn’t come for hours.
By now he was familiar with the wait staff, nodding to them and grabbing his own menu to trail to a table. He was halfway to the one he preferred when he saw the werewolf at the table. Thumbing through his phone like he hadn’t up and vanished after he’d been let out of the cell. He’d waited for Officer Mason to remain steady for a couple of days before he’d let him out with a warning about watching his back. They still didn’t know what had turned the wolf rabid for a time … or if it would return. A muscle in Chris’ jaw flexed as he changed direction and settled down opposite the werewolf instead. He set the menu down on the table, folded his arms on top of it. ”I wasn’t sure you’d be back,” he said by way of greeting. Chris eased back in his seat, settling his crossed arms over his chest. ”I checked in at the station afterwards and they said you’d taken leave. Getting your head on straight?” Maybe something more, although if there had been some sort of slip while the werewolf was gone he’d rather know about it now than when he was trying to track the thing that had ripped kids apart in the woods.

Kiba was still looking through his phone. He was trying to get his life back on track. He doesn't remember much of what happened that night in the woods, and the fact he almost teared apart some innocent people. He should have been dead, he didn’t understand why he was spared his life. Was it because he didn’t actually spill any human blood? Kiba didn’t truly know. He was resisting the other half of him, he still hated it now. But his alpha reminded him that he didn’t have to be a predator.
He remembers what he was told and says the three words if he needs to gain back control. Kiba wouldn’t have left Sweden if he didn’t think he could control his shifts. He had strict training, whatever made him lose his mind was no longer effective. Kiba knew his alpha was alive and well. Which was one good thing. Kiba didn’t know the hunter was still around. He never forgot the words that he gave him. That he needs to beware that he was being watched. Kiba never had a run with a hunter before, so this was a bit of a scary experience. Kiba hoped that he wouldn’t bump into the hunter again.
He was scrolling through some information until he smelt the familiar scent. It was the hunter that caged him up the first time. He kept his head focused on the phone, wanting to keep calm as possible. Kiba didn’t know why the hunter was here with him, he hadn't done anything wrong. That’s when he heard him talk. The sound of the menu hitting the table made him flinch a little, he didn’t like loud sounds much as it hurt his ears a lot. “I came back as my girlfriend is here. I didn’t really tell her why I left the way I did. She works here, so I came here hoping to bump into her, so we can talk. I didn’t expect to bump into you though” Kiba kept his tone friendly, didn’t want to get this hunter pissed off at him.
“Why did you go to the station? They have no idea what I am” Kiba didn’t understand why the hunter would go to the place he worked. “I needed to see if my alpha and pack were safe. I couldn’t stay here after what happened. I returned back home. Learn how to control it all again. Been trained better. I only just came back a week ago. I don’t work at the station anymore, I haven’t spoken to them about my job yet. I had more important things to sort out first” he looked at the hunter in the eyes. Aurelie was more important than his job right now, but he had a question for the hunter though.
“I have a question for you though. Why did you spare me? Why didn’t you just kill me?” it was a serious question, it was bugging him. Kiba didn’t know much about hunters, but his pack told him to avoid them. So he was curious why he was spared from death

There was a distinct difference between Officer Mason now and the Officer Mason he’d found out in the woods. Riled up, hallucinating, angry, the wolf had then been prepared to tear a group of innocent kids apart. The fact that if he’d been just ten minutes later the kids would’ve all been dead when he found them had sat heavy in the pit of his stomach since that night. Chris knew he’d taken a chance of letting him out afterwards but he wasn’t Gerard, he wouldn’t slaughter for a chance, not when he was certain that something else had been going on.
The fact that the guy had disappeared after he’d been released had left him on the fence about whether or not he’d done the right thing. That, Chris thought as he spotted Kiba at a table, still remained to be seen he supposed. There’d been no bodies in those woods he could tie to a wolf for weeks afterwards, although, as per usual here, others had certainly turned up. Wherever the wolf had gone to ground it almost certainly hadn’t been here and whatever had happened to him that night in the woods didn’t seem to have returned in the same way again.
He doubted he would’ve gotten away with sitting himself at the officer’s table if he had. Chris dropped the menu in front of himself, crossing his feet at the ankles beneath his seat and his arms over his chest as he eyed the other man. Shoulders clad in a canvas jacket still shrugged as Mason explained that he’d come back for his girlfriend. His lips pressing together, Chris cocked his head slightly. He’d wondered whether the man would report his kidnapping to the Sheriff but apparently he’d had more sense. ”So she doesn’t know you’re back either then?” he asked. His voice dropped slightly, the urge to look around him ignored. ”Or why you were taken that night. That’s gonna be a hell of a conversation.” He kept his voice low, a thin thread of humour working its way through his serious expression.
The girlfriend had found him here afterwards, while Officer Mason had been missing but he hadn’t revealed the truth to her then. He’d taken the information she’d given him though, used it to help weigh his release of the office. Chris’ lips twitched into what might have passed for a smile if it had actually reached his eyes. ”I did. Can you blame me for wanting to check upon you afterwards? I still didn’t know what had happened to you on the night I found you and letting you go could’ve been a mistake in the end.” Now the scales were tipping and he was beginning to suspect he’d done the right thing.
Tapping his foot lightly against the leg of his chair, Chris bobbed his chin up and down in an almost imperceptible nod. It would seem that the Officer had certainly still possessed some sense when he’d been let go. He’d gone to check on what he’d seen in his hallucination. ”It sounds like a sensible move. I hope your Alpha helped you get your head screwed on straight again. There can’t be a next time. If you’re lucky the Sheriff will give you that same second chance.” Given the rate that the sheriff’s staff turned over here he didn’t imagine that Liz Forbes would be too fussy about taking someone back.
Chris stared at the Officer as he asked about why he’d spared him instead of just slaughtering him. Cool blue eyes fixed on the man’s own until the waitress approached. His expression cracked, that friendly father look taking over from the po faced hunter. ”Hey April. Can I get a coke, a club sandwich and a side salad? Another of whatever Officer Man is drinking too. Thanks.” His smile remained in place as he handed the menu back to her, only disappearing when the woman was back out of ear shot. ”I couldn’t prove you’d killed anybody out in the woods,” he said matter of factly. ”I have been doing this long enough to know what’s usual behaviour for your and what isn’t. Hallucinations don’t exactly scream someone in their right mind. Whatever you got dosed with seemed to wear off and I’m not in the business of slaughtering people unnecessarily Officer Mason.” That was the major difference between him and Gerard. A tendency to listen, to hold himself back instead of bloodying his hands just because he could.

Kiba didn't really want to experience the lock up anytime soon. It wasn't a nice feeling. He hated the fact he was so angry and wanted to ripe the throats and hearts out of everyone he was meeting. The reason he didn't touch or went mental on Aurelie was that he remembered her scent and it was a nice smell. The smell that made his heart popped out of his chest. The diner was the place she worked so he was hoping he could see her and they could at least catch up. But unfortunately for him, he bumped into the hunter, someone he didn't want to see again really.
He took a bite of his food, even though he didn't want to eat. His appetite wasn't there since what happened. His alpha had to force him to eat for a few weeks back home to get his appetite to return. He didn't want to be forced again, so he decided to try and get something into his body so the wolf wouldn't be completely eager for a hunt. Kiba looked up as he heard about his boss. Kiba hasn't returned to be back on the job. He is taking a break from the force. Seeing the murders all the time, wasn't good for my mind which was still healing right now. "I am not ready to have my job back again. I am happy not working for now and just relax and heal. There is no reason for her to know anything. I could say I was kidnapped but refuse to the details on who and where they lived" that conversation about being locked up, wasn't going to be fun and he didn't want to relive it again ever.
"I don't know what happened either" he had the same questions over and over again from his alpha. He received a punishment from him. Trying to anger him to see his temper was the problem and the reason he lost control, but it wasn't. "I am going to tell you the same details I told my alpha" he said while he played with the food some more, as he physically couldn't eat it right now. "What I remember is that I was at a spot where I meet my girlfriend, and I don't know what it was but something was there with me and suddenly I saw a group of people attacking my alpha and before I was able to stop it they killed him. So I believed everyone I saw was after me next and wanted to hurt me. That's all I remember, everything else is just a blur" he wished he could remember more but he wasn't able to tell him anything more. "Were you worried that I wasn't longer in town when you released me?" he asked as he needed to know here, he wanted to know would this hunter keep on following him now. "Are you going to keep an eye on me some more?" He asked as he tried again to have something to eat and was making a face the same time, as he was struggling with every bite he ate. "I have been having issues with eating since that day, I am hoping it would pass soon"
"I didn't ask for that the first time. So I don't know what you are saying with the words it can't be next time, does that mean you would kill me?" he asked seriously. Maybe coming back to Mystic Falls was a mistake. "My alpha wasn't too impressed with me. I had a nasty remainder on how to control. My alpha is very strict with these things, he trained me not to lose control and he was annoyed with me when I told him I was holding the wolf back. I was taught to accept the wolf as one, no longer fighting what I am and that the wolf would be more happier to be let free and not hold back until the full moon hits where I have no choice to let it go" he decided to play with his food a little as finished his drink, and was shocked that the hunter was buying him another one "you don't have to buy me another drink. I know we can't be friends here, so why even try?" He asked and looked into the hunter's eyes some more, as he was trying to figure out why he would even sit with him, let alone have lunch with him.
Kiba was grateful that the hunter at least stopped him from hurting anyone that night "thank you again for stopping me. If I did hurt someone, even if you didn't kill me, I would have done it myself. I don't want to be alive to possibly do it again. I am not sure I be stable even if it was self defence, I highly doubt it though" he said as he waited for the drink to return again since the hunter bought him once "Please call me Kiba. I am technically not an officer right now. I am just a normal citizen of this strange town" he said as he hated being called something when he wasn't one anymore. He needed to speak to the sheriff of course, but that wouldn't be for while yet as he didn't want to work anymore. "Since I am free, maybe I could help you out. That way I could be tested to see I am ready to get back on the job. It's also safe as you would be there if something goes wrong? What do you say?" he asked since this was logical in his mind. He wouldn't be able to hurt anyone if there was a hunter right there watching his every step. It also got Kiba's confidence back again which he was lacking since the time he lost his mind. Secretly he was scared he would again lose his mind.

There was always blowback. No matter how carefully you took your shot or how meticulously you planned it, there was always some sort of reaction to it, even on the microscopic scale. Philosophers and scientists had hypothesised about it for centuries but Chris knew it had always been true. There were repercussions to everything you did and when they built the ground beneath your feet could literally crumble. After he’d released the wolf he’d half expected to find Sheriff Forbes on his doorstep the next morning. There was no evidence that Officer Mason had ever been in his custody, other than the man’s own statement, but still, it wouldn’t have stopped the wolf from setting the authorities upon him if he chose to. He hadn’t. Days had passed and there’d been no news and so he’d taken it upon himself to ask after Kiba at the station. Some leave for a personal matter was all that had been shared with him. Chris didn’t know if he’d ever come back or if his period of captivity would leave the wolf running.
Studying Kiba now he supposed he’d been half right and half wrong. The wolf had run, but he’d returned. Chris narrowed his eyes faintly at the wolf’s response, one fingertip tapping lightly on his bicep as he listened. Returned and apparently not gone back to his job. Interesting. Those repercussions perhaps, the echoes of whatever had happened that night still sending ripples of some sort through him. ”Understandable,” he said simply. There’d been a wound there somewhere, even if it had been strictly mental rather than physical. A brow rose as Mason practically threatened him with Sheriff Forbes. ”Would you though? Bringing suspicion down on yourself, leaving your boss digging in what might be going on in your life to make somebody do that.” There’d perhaps been a threat in the officer’s statement. There’d certainly been one in his own. He’d questioned whether anybody else had known about what the wolf was then, in a town like this so few understandably wanted to discuss such things.
The days that he’d held the wolf hadn’t earned him much more than the basics either. Which had basically been nothing. He’d admitted to checking on him afterwards and it seemed as though that surprised the Officer. It shouldn’t have come as a shock, Chris thought, giving a shrug without unfolding his arms. As a little of what had happened slipped out, Chris narrowed his eyes, tilted his head slightly as he filed it all away in his brain. ”That’s more than you remembered the last time we spoke. You didn’t see this thing, you still have no idea what it was?” He’d said something though, some impression in his mind not allowed him to say ‘they’ or ‘them’. It was telling in a way. There were plenty of things that could sway minds, although rarely on other creatures. ”I found you about to hurt who you thought was going after you next,” he explained again, the same story he’d told back then. Chris made a sound low in his throat, shifting in his seat. ”I was worried that you’d relapsed back into the state you were in when I first found you. Until I know for certain you won’t … I will keep an eye on you.” For the protection of the wolf himself as well as others. As he admitted he was having trouble eating, Chris frowned and looked at the man’s plate, now that was new.
Sighing as his words seemed to trigger something in Mason, Chris craned forward slightly and lifted his hands in a sign of surrender. This wasn’t a matter of blame anymore, it had been obvious almost from the moment he’d taken the wolf the first time that something else had been going on. It hadn’t been a conscious choice. ”I’m not saying you did,” he said darkly. ”But you have to understand, wolves running wild in town, on the brink of tearing people apart isn’t something that can be allowed. If I can’t contain you and find some way to stop what’s happening to you, then yes, I would kill you.” His voice was low but there was something hammer blunt to the words. Chris huffed out a breath as Mason explained what had happened with his alpha. ”And your alpha knew it wasn’t a matter of simply losing a little control? Something more than holding the wolf back happened that night. That doesn’t cause hallucinations and what you were seeing definitely wasn’t there.” It might not have helped though. A loss of control always came with a price.
With the waitress right there he wouldn’t answer the man at first. Chris kept up that congeniality instead, lifting a hand to wave Kiba off as April took down the order. She promised to be right back with his drinks and as she disappeared off the smile melted from his face. He looked back at Kiba with those cool eyes, his lips pressed in a line. ”What’s to say we can’t be friends? Even if we’re not that doesn’t come into it. We’re talking…” Like that explained it all. There was an act you had to keep up though, to hide the tension and truth from those are you who hadn’t been rudely shoved beyond the veil that hid the supernatural world yet. Chris chewed on his lower lip at the gratitude that suddenly came his way, he hadn’t asked for it but he nodded as it was given anyway. ”In your mind it would’ve been self-defence. That was why I did it. What you were seeing wasn’t there.” He hadn’t gone feral or rabid, he’d been confused. Unsure if he’d introduced himself that first time, Chris offered up his own name now. ”Chris Argent,” he murmured, knowing Mason could likely have found out anyway. ”What kind of test are you imagining, Kiba? A trip out to the woods to see if you’re triggered by what happened again?” There was unfortunately no way of just prising the wolf’s memory apart. His job would’ve been a thousand times easier if it was possible.

Kiba have never been this close to a hunter. It was unnatural for his kind. His wolf feared hunters, especially what he mentioned as a young child. Kiba couldn’t remember how old he was at the time as he blanked it out. But he was playing alone, not wanted by his pack. He was in the bushes when it happened. Group of hunters attacked and slaughtered his pack right in front of him. Kiba didn’t tell anyone about this , not even to his alpha. It was something he kept secret for a very long time.
There something I haven’t told anyone. When I was young, I saw a group of hunters slaughtering my pack, my family right in front of me. I never trusted hunters since then. You're the only one I have allowed this close. I don’t know if it's a trick or not. That’s what confusing he admitted and kept his head down.
Kiba feared hunters. Having one this close was really nervey him. He didn’t know what he was planning or that it would be safe to be away from him. His heart was racing but he managed to keep himself calm enough to avoid an outburst. He didn’t want to be knocked out again. That was really annoying and took him ages to get it out of his system. I don’t know. I haven’t heard of our kind being friends. How would I know you wouldn’t shoot me in the back? he asked a serious question.
I don’t know. Maybe it was a bad idea. Forget I meantion it he said as he went back to eating his salad. Even though eating meat was something he didn’t want to do. His alpha recommended he did at least once a day to keep the wolf happy in time for him to shift during the moon. The full moon was more nervous and scary for him now. He forced a piece of beef into his mouth and swallowed. His face was enough to show he wasn’t keen on eating meat at all. I was alone in the graveyard. But there was a whisper. I think there was. Telling me my alpha was in danger. It’s hard for me to explain. it was like someone had fun messing with him. Missing with his mind. I have never been so afraid of the full moon before. I am scared of what I might do. All over again. This was a bad mistake. Such a bad mistake. he was panicking just like it was his first ever shift. Anxiety was running through his mind, and there was nothing he can do or say to make it better for himself

Some hunters only dealt with the true monsters, others were like Gerard. Slaughter them all so that none of them could slide down that slippery path to hurting whoever they came across. Once upon a time maybe he’d seen something necessary in that, hadn’t questioned what his father and Kate were doing. He’d been blind. They’d stumbled off of the path that Henri and Marie-Jeanne had set them upon centuries ago. Lost in the hatred for the things their family had hunted ever since they were forced to kill one of their own. Chris knew that without Allison he never would’ve clawed his way back on it. Maybe he wouldn’t have seen Kate and Gerard brought low, but he would’ve remained blind.
He sure as hell wouldn’t have been sitting at a table with a wolf who had come within feet of slaughtering a bunch of teenagers, certain that he wouldn’t have to put him down … yet. Chris watched impassively as the wolf began his confession. Lines sprung up at the corners of his eyes, his fingers tapping lightly at the menu he held as the truth came out. ”If it was a trick I wouldn’t have allowed you out in the first place,” Chris explained coolly. He hadn’t worried about the Sheriff and her people tracking his place down. Maybe Forbes would have just written Mason off as another missing person in a town filled with them. ”I took you for your own good then and released you because whatever had a grip on you seemed to have worn off. If that shouldn’t give you some trust in me I don’t know what will.” Words could be filled with hollow promises, the best of actors somehow finding their way into this game. It was actions that offered proof and he liked to think he’d done that when he’d opened Mason’s cell and let him out.
Chris made a sound low in his throat as he inched forward in his seat. If he had wanted to do something to Mason he wouldn’t have let him go that first time. If he’d changed his mind he could’ve avoided coming to the table now, noting he was back and waiting outside for the wolf to emerge instead. Instead he’d been open from the start. He spread his hands now, held them out to his sides to reveal he wasn’t outwardly armed. He’d never go anywhere entirely weaponless but what was on him here wouldn’t do the sort of damage to Officer Mason that would stop him from immediately being able to try and take him down. ”You haven’t seen the connections I have. There are packs in town I trust. They can vouch for me. Even if they don’t … you can see I don’t have a weapon on me. Why would I try now?” Because the wolf still didn’t know what had happened, didn’t trust the man who’d stopped him from losing what he was and taking lives he doubted he would’ve done other circumstances.
When the holes in your memory were that big you didn’t even trust yourself.
Sighing, Chris ducked his head. April wasn’t back with his drink yet, he had nothing to occupy his hands, nothing to distract Mason with other than what was already on the table. He watched the Officer eat from under lowered lashes, shook his head slightly. ”Nothing’s a bad idea, except for running again, Kiba.” He used the man’s first name, tried to make this personal enough to have him relaxing instead of ratcheting tight enough to half shift here. ”That’s something to start looking at least. Most things can’t effect your kind with just a few words.” He’d suspected that maybe some doctored form of wolfsbane was involved but there’d been nothing on the man’s skin or clothing then and it didn’t sound like that was what had happened from his description now. ”Coming back was a mistake?” Chris asked lightly. Hearing April coming back, he straightened up, managed a smile for her as she not only set down the drinks but his food too. ”Thanks April.” He shook his head as she asked if they needed anything more. Chris busied himself shaking salt onto the fries, adjusting his food on the plate to his liking. If coming back was a mistake for the Officer than it was one he’d already made. Too late to bolt the stable door so to speak.

Kiba didn’t know why he was here. Was it for Aurelie? Was it for something else. He still doesn't remember what happened when he returned home. His memory on that account was wiped. He didn’t know that his alpha lied to him. That he had to kill someone to stable the wolf. Of course Kiba doesn't remember any of this. He was just drilled in his mind that he shouldn’t trust hunters. No matter what.
So when he got approached by a hunter the wolf inside wanted to run from him and not look back. But he knew he couldn’t do this as this would cause issues. So he had to play long. His eyes kept an eye on the hunter’s arms at him. True he was harmless but he knew he was armed somewhere. Kiba didn’t fully trust it. His entire personality has changed from before.
“I know for a fact packs can lie and not to be trusted. I don’t trust any of the packs here. I am an outsider to them, and I know what happens to wolves that aren’t originally part of the pack. They are usually killed… if they have a hunter there, I don’t think I would trust them anytime soon” it was all what was planted in his mind from his alpha. Kiba wouldn’t have said it if it was originally from his voice.
Kiba kept on playing with his own food. He didn’t really want to eat much, but he remembered what will happen if he didn’t. Part of him wished that the hunter killed him. At least he wouldn’t be suffering anymore. “Honestly it would have been better if you did kill me, like the other hunters slaughtering my family. At least I wouldn’t have to live with this curse anymore it was true, Kiba always considered this as a curse, since his first shift when he was young. He didn’t know why Aurelie said yes to be with him. But she knew how he felt since she had her own curse and issues with hunters. They were both killers.
“So what’s your plan? Going to watch me all the time? Make sure I wouldn’t kill anyone?” Kiba didn’t mean it sound like a thread or anything, it was just him reflecting the situation. Maybe it was due to fact he was worried about the next full moon, and where he was going to hide out this time. Before Aurelie was his anchor, but he doesn’t have that anymore. So for the first time ever he was worried about the full moon. He took another drop of his drink. While his heart was beating so fast it was like he was running. Thankfully he was safe since the hunter wouldn’t be able hear this, unless he had one of his wolf buddies here.
Kiba circled around with his eyes and nose to check it out. He was very nervous and he wanted to flee, and he wanted to do it now

The werewolf was still wary, eyes dropped down to his arms. Chris remained stone still in his seat, his own cold blue eyes fixed on the man in front of him. Trust didn’t come easy when you woke in a cage with no memory of how you got there … or when you found someone ready to tear teenagers apart because of something only you were seeing in your head. It was a standoff of sorts but Chris doubted that Officer Mason was going to try and bolt here. He wasn’t about to make that first move either. Not somewhere as public as the Grill and sure as hell not without proof.
Leaning closer over the table he had extended an olive branch. No, the trust wasn’t implicit yet but in releasing the werewolf in the first place he’d taken that first step towards trusting him … and Mason had chosen to run before he’d eventually returned. Suspicion should’ve fallen on him then but the benefit of the doubt was right there. He should’ve known he wouldn’t take the offer of references though. Chris hitched his brows, a grim amusement tugging at the corners of his lips. ”You’re a werewolf, you can smell deception on most. You should be able to smell it on me if I’m lying to you.” Unlike werewolves he couldn’t control his own pheromones, but there were other ways, making certain your heartbeat wouldn’t rise a single beat, squashing down every single micro-expression that would’ve given away a lie. Gerard had been brutal about it all but he’d given both of his children skills to disguise everything they were doing. ”There are packs who take in omegas here, they’re different Officer Mason.” Scott had made sure of that.
Without Scott perhaps the werewolf would’ve been dead in the first place but all that Scott had done had tempered his own family. Fixing them in a way little else had.
Chris tapped his fingertips lightly on the edge of the table, watching the wolf in front of him toy with his food then. Still nervous, probably hoping for some way out of this conversation he was trapped in. He hadn’t taken him for being willing to end his own life, not in the same way the hunter had been when he’d found him here drunk and ready to go drive into a tree, but the moment Kiba opened his mouth again that same impression hovered in the air like a bad smell. ”I’m not like other hunters,” Chris echoed again. His mouth pursed for a moment, eyes crinkling at the corners as they narrowed. ”You want out of this that much? Even with the woman?” She had found him here, asked him about the werewolf before he’d released him. He hadn’t seen her back here either but that didn’t mean much in a town where the population changed on an hourly basis.
As April had approached he’d switched in an instant, hunter to father, the smile warm, a nod and a thanks sending her off. The moment she was out of earshot Mason was questioning him but Chris was busying himself. He salted his fries, unwrapped the napkin from around his cutlery, spreading it out before his plate. Plucking a fry from it he ate it slowly, eyes rising to Mason’s as he swallowed. ”If I’d thought you were going straight out to do that I wouldn’t have let you go in the first place. I’m not a foolish man Officer Mason. I intend to keep this town and the people in it safe.” He picked up half of his sandwich, studying it before he took a bite. Another pause, chewing, swallowing, swiping mayo from his lower lip with his napkin before Chris was eyeing the werewolf steadily. ”Do I need to worry about what you’re going to do Officer Mason?” A point blank question. Any sign of doubt or that flicker of madness in the wolf’s eyes again and he could end up right where he’d been, leaving a bigger problem on all of their hands.

Kiba Mason Kiba didn't know he returned back here. He should have stayed home, back in Sweden where he truly belonged. He was an outcast here. He didn't feel safe or wanted here either. There were so many dangerous things here. But Kiba did have a reason, he wanted to protect the children from the supernatural as well. But he didn't want to hurt them either. He didn't want to get a beating from his alpha all over again.
He kept his head low, being as submissive as possible to avoid being in trouble. Kiba did this with everyone, it was the main reason his alpha tattooed him as punishment. Kiba kept this hidden, even though it was hard to hide since it was on his neck. He was punished so severely he didn't want to risk doing it again. His alpha wouldn't hesitate on killing him, so he felt being omega was for the best for him, even though they were easier to kill, since they were alone.
You really don't know me that well do you. I don't embrace my other side. When I am human, I act the same. I don't become that other thing until I am forced too. Like I said I am cursed. A monster nothing you can possibly say change this
He slowly forced himself to eat the food he purchased. He had to keep himself in good health. He didn't want another shot whatever Chris gave him. He didn't enjoy that very much. He couldn't remember what it was either. It really knocked him out. Kiba didn't really understand that the hunter fed him and was invigating his job. Though the constant being called officer Mason was driving him nuts, he really wants it to stop now.
He took a deep breath as he tried to keep his temper in check can you please stop calling me Officer Mason. You can just call me Kiba since that's my name he didn't know it but his eye briefly showed blue, which marked he did kill someone but he didn't know who. If you mean Aurielle then I haven't seen her since I have been back. Maybe she realized that wolves and vampires can't date. I don't know he signed more as he ate more of the food, he hated meat which is why he was playing with it.
I know you are not like the other hunters, but I still can't fully trust you. We are not friends, your kind has been hunting minds for centuries. Some were killed without even doing anything. How do I know you wouldn't suddenly do the same thing. Your name is very famous. My alpha knows your lineage very well Kiba didn't know how the guy would say back to that , since Kiba wasn't lying. He never lied. He always told the truth no matter what.
Unable to eat the meat anymore he pushed it away from him and he started to eat an apple instead. He hated meat which is why it made him sick after the full moon as he ate raw deer or rabbit in the woods.
I am not technically an omega. I have a pack, but just not here. My pack and family are in Sweden would he be welcomed back if he got caught again talking to the hunter? Kiba didn't know but he knew no one in his pack would find out either. It's not you I am worried about. It is me. Do you know I fear every time I shift that I might hurt someone. I had no one at the time. But now my only anchor isn't here, I am back being afraid. I have nowhere to go to lock myself up so I wouldn't hurt anyone. So that's my truth, I am scared there will be a body when I shift next… what kind you do about it, you don't understand, how could you. Your a hunter kiba placed his head back down, took a bite from his apple and tapped the flooring with his foot as he was annoyed, anxious and very scared.

The wolf was cowering. Gerard would’ve seen the lowered head as a sign of weakness would have used it against the Officer to make the kill easier. Anything that meek could be twisted into doing intolerable things. Omegas. The weakest of all, killing them was supposed to be a way of putting them out of their misery. Seeing how low Kiba was holding himself now Chris wondered if there was some element of truth to Gerard’s words. Even if there was he wouldn’t go what his father would’ve done.
He let a long breath out through his nose, jaw tightening as the amusement fell away from his face. It was no wonder something had preyed on the officer, it had likely seen those cracks in what should’ve been a fierce armour and had slipped in through them to watch the man fall apart while the wolf clawed its way out and tore a bloody path through town. ”Didn’t your Alpha tell you that denying what you are is only going to make that divide worse. You call what you are a monster, see it as force or a curse and that’s all it will ever be.” There was an element of having to accept that other side of yourself in learning to control it. It was a lesson most young wolves learned from their pack but when your pack was on the other side of the world …
You ended up in exactly the position Kiba was in now. Chris grunted at the man’s response to his respectful use of his title. He shifted uneasily in his seat with it, curiosity burning in his eyes. How much had he carved away to try and handle what had happened to him here? ”Not a wolf, except for when the moon is up, not an Officer either now?” Or he was just hiding that side of himself in public too. There had been no shame rolling from the man about his job the first time around, in fact he’d used it as a shield to try and prove that he wasn’t like those other things. A threat to make his captor free him. The vampire who had tried to track him down that day hadn’t made the same sort of distinction. It was just a man she’d been looking for, one who’d meant something to her. ”Have you tried looking for her? She didn’t seem worried about what you were or what she was then, only that you’d gone missing.” In a town like this looking for the sort of trouble that might’ve killed a wolf could quite easily bring you face to face with a nightmare of your own.
Knowing he would likely investigate where the girl had gone himself, Chris spread his hands in a general sign of surrender as Kiba finally answered his question. He shook his head, reaching for his drink like it would do something more to reassure the man before him. ”If your Alpha really knows my name then he’ll know the vow my family made … and the change that was made for it. We protect those who cannot protect themselves, that doesn’t just mean humanity from people who are no longer entirely human. I am not my father, just as you’re not the thing I dragged out of those woods.” If that clarification wasn’t proof that he wasn’t a monster in hunter form then Chris wasn’t sure what was. He’d had the justification to kill the werewolf right there and then, had seen it again in the man’s blue eyes that had flashed into life here too but each time he’d stepped back.
It was the moves like him pushing his meal away now, the meat left abandoned on the plate. Too animalistic? Maybe. There was so much of the man’s werewolf side that was being pushed down inside, buried to match with his beliefs or avoid the trouble that had happened before. Chris started into his own food, his appetite no longer chained to his emotions. You ate when you needed to, saw it as fuel rather than something to savour. Another of Gerard’s lessons ingrained deep. ”Perhaps this isn’t the place for you then,” he told him seriously, trailing his tongue over the spot he’d just wiped clean on his lip. ”You’re struggling without your pack and your family.” That much was obvious. Chris shook his head, setting his sandwich down again. ”There are ways to protect yourself and others. Wolves here find places. Even in your own apartment. You know you can’t let your fear rule you like that? There’s no guarantees, not unless you find yourself an anchor you can stick to, even if that anchor’s yourself.” Eventually the man’s control would slip, his grip left too slick by all that fear, and then he was right, someone like him would come along to make sure that justice was found for it.

Kiba Mason Kiba was trying to show he was no threat. He had a plan to put himself away from being a danger. He would need the hunter's help since Kiva couldn't do it. Touching silver burned him like crazy, so he needed a human to do it. He didn't know the hunter would do it for him or not. There was nothing else. He was a rogue wolf with no anchor and no pack. He couldn't be stuck with his fears every time the full moon comes out. He signed softly as he reached for his firearm which he kept on him, as he was still a police officer just not right now as he didn't get his job back. He slowly placed it on the table.
All I can remember when I return home was a beaten by the alpha. Losing control was a huge no no in my pack and I was seriously punished. Sometimes death is given but I was given a second chance in life, but then blank. I was branded and exiled. If I return they will kill me. The brand is a Swedish punishment to show traitor, exile and a message to other packs that j can't be trusted. That's the reason I can't risk it with another pack he breathed softly as he looked at the gun as he wondered if he would pick up what he was planning on doing.
I have a plan and I need your help. I need you to put a silver bullet in the chamber for me. You wouldn't have to worry about me again. I take care of it myself. he was being serious, he would go in the woods and take care of the whole business. While he waited to see if the hunter would help him or not. He was expecting a no since, it was stupid mission but to Kiba it was the only thing he had left. This was the only way that he knew will be one hundred percent effective and no killings left.
I have been searching for her since I came back. I don't know if a hunter has killed her. The last hunters I ran to know which was after her were Dante and Dean Winchester. There was a vampire killing but it wasn't her, I swear. I covered it up to protect her, and had her staying with me. That was during my out of control and bumping into you. I have a feeling they have killed her, there is no other explanation he felt guilty if it was that as he failed to protect her, but there was a silver chance that she escaped town too I had no idea she was looking for me too he looked at him and kept an eye on the gun as well
Kiba knew Chris wasn't the same hunter but Cairo didn't care. He hated all hunters and mainly the argents but he never found out why. Cairo hates you and your family. He told us from a young age, your family can't be trusted. I never understood why as I don't see it. You're definitely not like the hunters that came and slaughtered my family. You helped me even though you could have killed me, so I don't trust his judgement with this Kiba knew Chris scent easily and even though he tried to lock his wolf side, there were some things he couldn't lock up. I am not an officer right now as I don't have my job back yet, so I would rather be called by my first name, you should have known it already. I know what I am doing with my wolf side. Do you consider us as dogs with rabies? he looked at him with his hands folded leaning on his chin
So are you going to put the silver bullet in there for me or not? he asked him as he took another sip of his drink some more which was lovely and he really enjoyed it very much, since he was waiting to see the hunter would help or not

He’d thought the madness that had shrouded the wolf’s mind was a thing of the past but the echoes of it were still ringing out. Mason reached for his weapon, setting it down on the table like it was the most natural thing in the world. Chris’ gaze remained lock on the man as he picked up a napkin and shook it out. Just a man about to drape it over his lap while he ate, not a man draping it over the gun on the table. He closed his fingers over that shrouded lump and drew it back towards him. There was still no proof that the wolf had done anything but while he could he would remove anything Kiba might use to bring harm to someone.
That impassive look remained on his face as Mason finally started to give him details. Chris kept his fingers on the gun, lifted his glass with his other hand to take a slow sip. Some packs were brutal, their rules were followed to the letter or there would be punishments. They would justify it as necessary to keep their secret or to keep the pack in check but he had seen how that power had twisted some. ”Not even with the word of someone who knows how some operate,” he said low. ”It should never have been a matter of trust with your pack. You weren’t in control that night.” The wolves would have been able to smell the truth on him … but also the fear and that was likely just as big a factor in it all.
The fear was stripping away all sense. Chris’ fingers tightened further over the gun, sweeping it off the table to shove it into the pocket of his coat. Not to be loaded with what the wolf had asked. ”If you truly wanted to kill yourself there are other ways. You’d have begged your Alpha to kill you instead of letting him push you away.” Putting a man down wasn’t as easy as killing something that deserved it. It would be blood on his hands, a failure like the dozens of others that had racked up before Scott had forced him to try again.
Slowly Chris picked at his food, a single fry eaten, a nudge of his burger that just shifted it on his plate. He’d been picking up dinner for himself and Allison the night the vampire had come across him here, desperate. It was the last time he’d seen her. Perhaps she’d just left in search of the wolf, perhaps she’d found bigger trouble than her. His jaw tight, Chris shook his head and aimed his fork across the table. ”If it was a hunter, it wasn’t my people. There are plenty of others here though, hunters who don’t care how much of a hold any of these things have on themselves, only their potential. Do you want me to look for her?” Given what was out of Kiba’s mouth moments later the answer was likely to be no.
Chris didn’t stiffen in his seat but he did go still, the expressionless mask slipping back into place. Was it a wonder that the Argents’ reputation had spread far and wide over the centuries? Or that Gerard had likely tainted that reputation in a way he’d never be able to repair. After a moment he shrugged his shoulders. ”Like in your pack, there are some in my family whose word you couldn’t have relied on. You trust me despite what your Alpha told you?” He made a thoughtful sound in his throat. Maybe not an entirely lost cause after all. You said yet,” Chris said in a low tone. There’d been a momentary hope in that but it was soon gone.
He reached for a napkin, wiped his fingers off against it. ”If I did believe you were you wouldn’t have made it out of the cell,” Chris said honestly. One more ounce of his father in him, the failure to pull himself back after both Victoria and Allison had died and maybe he would’ve believed that, giving in to the need to eradicate them all. ”Do you want to use the bullet on yourself? It’s hard to get your job back if you’re laying in a morgue, Kiba.” He used the man’s name like he’d been asked to, forming that connection they always swore would pull someone back from the edge.

[googlefont="Kranky:400;"] tagged words love this thread if any | Kiba was broken. His spirit was gone. He had no fight left in him, he wasn't sure he even wanted his job back due to the crap he had. He just needed the help from the hunter. Kiba trusted him more than anyone else, he never hurt him. But he didn't know what his memories were like in his head. What happened to him when he was back home. That he was forced to kill to calm his wolf side down, Kiba never saw his alpha so angry before. He never was beaten like he was before either.
My alpha didn't care. He said I should have controlled it no matter what. He said I betrayed his rules by allowing a hunter to come close to me and let them help me. He said that was no no in his pack law, that I should have sacrificed myself to your bullet in death instead. I don't remember much after that he kept his head down as the gun was removed from the table and he hoped he would put the bullet in the gun.
I didn't accept death back home, as I thought Aurielle would still be here waiting for me, but when I came back she was gone. The only person I thought loved me. Maybe I was I was stupid to believe it could work. I mean a vampire and wolf will never work now would it since we are enemies by nature. You can try and find her, but I looked everywhere and she was not there. So there was nothing left for me to stay on he looked at him, keeping his brown eyes locked onto his blue ones, wanting to try to be as confident as possible, but it was easy to see he wasn't brave at all.
I wasn't really a good officer, I was a laughing stock back at the station, you know. The bullet is for security reasons. I want it so I can end my life, if I killed someone during my next shift. I couldn't live on if I hurt someone like that. The moon is coming and I am scared, like I was when I was teenager. But this was the first time I shifted alone, I mean completely alone. I always had my pack or Aurielle to keep me in control. I don't know what I am going to do this time around
Kiba took another sip of his drink. As he hoped the hunter would help him out. are you going to help me out or not? he asked him, as he watched his reaction. To answer your question about trusting you despite what my alpha said. I had no reason to fear you. You voted to kill me, but you didn't. Instead you helped me get back control. Prevented me from hurting innocent teenagers. You're not the monster which Cairo said you were, so that's why I didn't listen to him and trusted you. Trusting you that you will help me again he kept the eye contact showing he was serious with his words, Kiba considered the hunter as a friend and not as an enemy.
