For years Dec had tried to convince himself that he only saw Caroline as a friend but if he was honest she had been so much more to him than that for a long time. He hadn’t wanted to admit it because risking their friendship wasn’t something that he had ever wanted to do but one kiss while they were at prom had ended up changing everything. Dec hadn’t meant for it to happen, he had wanted to distract Caroline and make sure that she didn’t end up hurting anyone while they were there but that one kiss had been enough to open the floodgates and almost a year later they were still going strong. It had taken them a while to get as far as having their first date and it had been a little awkward at first but they had managed to work through that pretty quickly and he knew that he wouldn’t have it any other way. After a few close calls with hunters while he was in high school Dec couldn’t deny that things finally seemed to be going his way and he knew better than to take that for granted. Things were going well with Caroline and he was enjoying his time at Whitmore so even though he still had the threat of his name being on some list of supernatural creatures that were being hunted hanging over his head he knew that he wasn’t going to let fear rule his life and instead he was doing his best to make the most of whatever happened next. For now at least that was pretty easily done. He had met up with Caroline and they had gone to dinner and watched a movie before heading back to his place. His parents had gone away for the weekend so it was just him, Caroline and Amy at home and truth be told he had enjoyed spending some time with two of his favourite people. Caroline had ended up staying the night like she had done before but the truth was that Dec didn’t remember falling asleep. He knew that they must have done but as he began to stir something felt different. Instead of feeling a soft mattress underneath him he felt firm ground and as he opened his eyes it took him a moment to take in his surroundings. He wasn’t sure where he was, it seemed to be some kind of a cell but sleeping next to him was Caroline. “Care, wake up,” he said, nudging her arm to try and wake her. “Are you ok?” His whole body ached and there was a bandage on his arm that seemed to mirror one on Caroline’s but he had no idea where it had come from. Looking around them once more, his heart sank as he spotted another familiar figure in the cell next to theirs. “Amy?” he asked in disbelief even though he wasn’t sure whether she could actually hear him. There was a guy in there with her, one he was pretty sure he had seen around Whitmore, but he couldn’t recall the guy’s name. Trying a few more times to get his sister’s attention only to end up failing miserably, Dec did his best to stay calm as he turned his attention back to his girlfriend. “Any idea where we are?” he asked, knowing that he didn’t recognise their surroundings one bit. Caroline's day had started like any other. It also ended like any other day. She liked spending time at Dec's place, especially because it offered an opportunity for her to be close to her boyfriend and his sister. She really did enjoy being with them because it was always so hard to get distracted by their conversation and also by everything they wind up doing. Whether they end the day by watching a movie or just chilling together on bed, it always ended amazingly for Caroline. There was a time where she thought that she wouldn't be able to spend time with Dec like this. Where she was afraid to step over that line of friendship and venture into a new path of intimacy and romance with her best friend because she was so worried that it would ruin everything between the two of them. She was worried she wouldn't be able to spend time with him again, but it really did feel like she had worried over nothing because in the end, he was the one who took that step even though it was to calm her down. But he took it anyway. From there on, things just played out for them and fate stood on their side, guiding them closer and closer and Caroline couldn't be happier.
But it all changed when she found herself getting nudged awake, Declan's voice becoming clearer in her head, reminding her that it was not a dream. She frowned slightly when she noticed that she was not laying on Declan's soft mattress but on hard floor which made her side ache. "Yeah, I'm okay. What's going on? Are you okay? Do you feel any pain?" She pushed herself up to sit instead, her eyes widening when she came to the realization that something was very wrong right now. She was not in Declan's home. Instead, she was in a cell. There was also an ache in her arm and when she looked down, she noticed the bandage. Where did that come from? Did someone do something to them while they were asleep? When Caroline heard Declan call out Amy's name, her head snapped up and her attention immediately settled on Amy. "Amy!" She called out but no response. "Oh my god, what's happening? Where are we?" Caroline ran her fingers through her messy hair to brush it away from her face. "No... I don't recognize any of this." She frowned and tried to focus her hearing so she could at least see if there was anybody upstairs or even around them, but she heard nothing. "I can't hear anything." Caroline stood up on shaky legs and headed to the bars of the cell to rattle them but they didn't even budge. "Help me wrench this open or something. I'm not going to sit here and wait for whoever did this to us to come back. I don't know what happened but it can't be good..."

Dec had spent a lot of time with Caroline over the years but ever since the two of them got together it had been different. Now it didn’t seem to matter what they did as long as they were together but if he was honest the mornings when he was able to wake up next to Caroline were his favourite. They hadn’t rushed into anything, they had made sure that they were both ready before taking the next step and things seemed to be working well for the two of them. He had spent such a long time wanting to be with Caroline and he had convinced himself that it was never going to happen. It still amazed him how quickly one kiss had changed everything but he knew that he wouldn’t have it any other way. They were managing to juggle spending time together and making it through their first year at college and he hoped that they would continue to do so. They had both waited such a long time to get to this point and now that they had he knew that the last thing he wanted was for it to end up getting messy between them. They had been friends for such a long time and they had promised each other that their friendship would never pay the price and he knew that they would stick to that but if he was honest whenever he thought about his future Caroline was right there with him so he knew that he wanted them to carry on making it work for as long as possible. There was a lot that they were going to have to figure out but they were happy together and he knew that he wanted it to stay that way. That night was meant to be just like any other but as he woke up he could tell straight away that something was different. He knew that they weren’t lying in his bed and the ground was hard beneath him. It didn’t take long for his gaze to come to rest on Caroline and it was both comforting and horrifying to know that she was there. He didn’t know where they were or what was going on but he knew that they needed to get out of there as quickly as they could. For a moment he found himself wondering if the people responsible were the same ones that had taken Matt and Hayden but he wasn’t sure. Right now he knew that he couldn’t worry about that, all he needed to think about was getting them both out of there and he knew that he couldn’t afford to take any chances. “A little, my arm is killing me,” he admitted a he looked over at her. He didn’t know what had happened but something had and he knew that they were going to have to try and figure it out as soon as they got out of there. It was bad enough knowing that Caroline was there with him but as he realised that Amy was there too he felt his heart sink. “I have no idea but we can’t stay here, it doesn’t feel safe,” he said, his hand reaching for hers as he moved closer to her. Dec knew that his own healing was good but Caroline’s was better and as she said that she couldn’t hear anything he knew that it wasn’t good. Within moments he was by her side trying to get the door open but no matter how hard they tried it didn’t seem to be doing any good. Dec wasn’t sure how long they tried for when footsteps finally approached but he felt a feeling of dread as someone with their face somehow obscured made their way over to them. Before he could even react he felt a sting and before he knew it everything went black. The next time he came to his surroundings had changed and he turned his head to get a better look. His vision seemed blurred but there seemed to be surgical implements around him and as he turned in the other direction he spotted Caroline lying on the table next to him and there seemed to be two tubes between them carrying what seemed to be blood back and forth between them. “Caroline?” he breathed, reaching across the space between them and taking her hand in his once more. He could hear voices nearby, ones that he didn’t recognise, and he couldn’t make out what they were saying but before he knew it the darkness overtook him once more. The third time as he awoke things were different again and he couldn’t help but wonder if the second time he woke up he had just been dreaming his the pain in his other arm was real and this time there seemed to be bandages on both of his arms. He wasn’t worried about that though, Caroline was with him once more and he made his way over to her, stopping when he was on his hands and knees beside her. “Wake up Care, we need to get out of here,” he said, shaking her shoulder gently to try and wake her up. Glancing over in the direction that he had seen Amy in before he was relieved to see that she was still there but there was something different as well – two blood bags were on the ground at the side of the cage and for some reason he couldn’t shake the feeling that just the sight of it was enough to make him feel hungry. Caroline looked over at Declan with concern coloring her blue eyes. "Really?" She reached over to hold onto Declan's hand with her own, giving it a gentle squeeze. "We'll take a look at it once we're out of here." She promised with a nod of her head following. "Yeah. I'm really ready to get the hell out of here." She breathed out, feeling overcome with adrenaline because it really did feel dangerous here. She didn't want to spend another second here wondering about what she was going to do once she was out of here. She'd cross that bridge when she came to it. But for now, she just wanted to get out of here with Declan and Amy, along with that boy with her that she did not recognize well.
But before she could even do something else, a figure was right in front of her and her lips parted, her fingers growing longer but there was a syringe being injected into the side of her neck which made the world turn dark before she could do anything to stop that thing from hurting them. The last thing she saw was Declan's passed out face. "Dec..." She breathed out before the darkness enveloped her whole, leaving her vulnerable to whatever beast was outside. She didn't know what those things wanted from them, but she was scared and worried for her boyfriend's well-being along with Amy's and that boy.
She woke up briefly and turned her head to the side, her eyes finding Declan. He was still not awake which made her worry even more but her eyelids felt so, so heavy. She resisted it the best she could and looked down to see the tubes transferring blood between the two of them which made her frown and slowly lifted her head. She couldn't move her hands due to them being bound. "No..." Caroline breathed out. Whatever they were doing to them... It can't be good. Not in the slightest. She felt so worried. "Dec..." Once again, his name was the last thing that she said before her world turned black again and the next time she woke up, it was to the sound of Declan's voice. She blinked her eyes open, feeling disoriented. There was something very wrong with her but she couldn't put her finger on it. She pushed herself up to a sitting position and before she could even worry about anything else or ask about anything, she wrapped her arms around Declan in a tight hug. "I was so worried." She mumbled, her hands crumbling the material of his shirt between her fingers.
"I was so worried... Are you okay? Do you feel any pain?" She repeated, her voice a little shaky this time around before she finally pulled away. "You're right... Yeah. We should get going." Her eyes settled on the blood bags and for a moment, it seemed to awaken something within her. Stefan had been helping her to the best of his abilities to control her hunger and so, she took a deep breath and allowed the veins under her eyes to fade away. "C'mon." She pushed herself up shakily and made her way to the bar, rattling it again. "Let's do it quickly this time." Caroline rattled it harder and there was a moment where it really did feel like the bars were about to give. She felt so strong. Sure, being a vampire gave her strength and speed, but it didn't feel like this. Something felt new. "Do you.. feel different? I saw tubes in our arms. It looked like they were pumping your blood into me and my blood into you. I think they did something to us, Dec."

Dec had thought that he and Caroline would end up having a quiet night in but the truth was that he still couldn’t remember falling asleep. He had heard about people disappearing around Mystic Falls and he knew that it had happened to Matt, Hayden and a few of the wolves from his brother’s pack but it had been a while since he had last heard a rumour about someone disappearing so he had hoped that it was all over. Now, however, he wasn’t so sure and he couldn’t help but wonder if whoever was responsible for taking the two of them was the same person that had taken all of the others. For the last year or two Dec’s biggest challenge had been trying to make sure that he didn’t end up getting caught by another hunter and ever since his encounter with Alix he had been worried that someone else with access to the list that she had been working from would come after him but now it seemed that he had something different to worry about and it wasn’t just him who was in danger, it was Caroline, Amy and the guy that was locked in the cell with his sister as well so he knew that he needed to hold it together and make sure that they all got out of there in one piece. “I’ll be fine,” Dec assured her, knowing that he’d needed to be honest with her but still not wanting Caroline to worry about him. They had enough to worry about right now without adding him to the mix as well and he knew that they needed to focus on getting out of there so that was exactly what he planned on doing. “You and me both,” he agreed as Caroline said that she was ready to get out of there. “Amy, can you hear me?” he asked, knowing that they all needed to get out of there together. “Ames, you’ve got to wake up,” he said, trying to get through to her but not seeing any movement from her or the boy in the cell with her other than them breathing. Getting out of the cell was proving to be easier said than done so far but Dec was determined not to give up although soon enough the darkness consumed him once more and he knew that he didn’t have much of a choice. Waking up on the table with Caroline on the one next to him seemed like nothing more than a bad dream by the time that Dec woke up next and he was relieved to see that Caroline was still there with them. This time they were back in the cell and the first thing that Dec could think about was making sure that Caroline was alright. He knew that they needed to get out of there but the dream he’d had was enough to really scare him and he knew that he needed to make sure that she was alright. “It’s ok, I’m here,” he said as he wrapped his arms around her and held her to him tightly. “I’m not going anywhere.” They’d always been able to count on each other and he knew that he wasn’t going to let him be separated from her now. He had no idea who was doing any of this or why but he knew that he needed to make sure that they all got out of there in one piece and that they made it out of there together. “Some but I’m sure it will subside, how about you?” he asked, much more worried about Caroline than he was about himself. The blood bags on the ground were tempting to him in a way that he couldn’t explain and he knew that they needed to get out of there so they could figure out exactly what had happened. Getting to his feet he joined Caroline at the side of the cell and started trying to get through the bars. He felt different than he had before and right now that worried him. “I saw it too but I hoped it was just a dream,” he admitted as he kept on trying the bars, hoping that together they would be able to break through. “I do feel different. I can’t explain it but for some reason it feels like those blood bags are calling to me, I’ve never felt anything like it before,” he said, unaware that as he said it the smell of blood reached his nostrils and veins appeared under his eyes. Caroline could tell that AMy was not moving and so was that boy next to her and it was starting to raise alarm bells but thankfully, she had Declan with her and that helped with some of her worries but with them still being here, she was confident that her eased worries would not stay like that for long. She needed to get the hell out of here with everyone else. She didn't even know where they were, but she figured she would worry about that once they get out. With Declan right next to her, she felt like she could get through this. Because his voice helped her stay calm. It helped her breathe through it and focus on what was important to her.
She looked down at herself and tried to focus on whether she felt any sort of pain anywhere but the only place that hurt her was where they had injected her with Declan's blood. She was certain she had seen his blood going into her tube and hers going into his. Whatever they did, it can't be a good thing and she was starting to worry so much about everything again until she remembered to breathe and with a sharp intake of breath, she released it slowly and looked at Declan. "A little, yeah. But I can still move and that's all that matters." She said with a few nods following as she moved her hand up to curl a strand of hair behind her ear.
"It can't be a dream." She looked down at her arm and pointed at where they had injected her. "Otherwise, this wouldn't be here." She offered her boyfriend an apologetic smile because she really hoped it was a dream until she saw the mark on her arm and on Declan's, too. Caroline paused when she heard that the bloodbags were calling out to Declan. They were calling out to her, too, but it was because she was a vampire and thanks to Stefan, she could really push through it but when she turned and looked at Declan, a gasp fell from her lips as she lifted her hand to trace the veins under his eyes with her thumb. "Declan... You are a vampire." She breathed out. "It has to be my blood... But how?" Caroline took her hand away when she realized that if Declan didn't feed, something bad would happen. She didn't want to lose him.
Caroline returned to the bars and with a surge of strength, she managed to open the door completely, the lock on the outside breaking in half. "... That works." She whispered before she rushed to grab the bloodbags and returned back to Declan. "Here. Drink this. I know it's going to taste really weird at first but you need to complete your transition, baby." Caroline whispered, her voice soothing.

Dec couldn’t see who the boy in the cage with Amy was as his face was obscured but he could see that his sister wasn’t moving and that worried him. He and Amy were twins and ever since they were born the two of them had been close so the thought of something happening to her terrified him but he knew that he just had to believe that she would be alright. He and Caroline had both woken up after a while and even though he knew that something was different not just with the two of them but with Amy and the boy as well he couldn’t quite figure out what it was. Their scents were different and that bothered him but he knew that they could figure all of that out later. Right now the important thing was making sure that the four of them got out of there together and he knew that neither of them were going to stop until they made that happen. He could see that Caroline was worried too but they had always been able to do anything as long as they were together and he knew that now wasn’t going to be any different. He still wasn’t sure what to make of the images flashing through his mind of Caroline lying on the table next to him while blood passed back and forth between the two of them because he was sure that it had to mean something but right now wasn’t the time to worry about that. They had no idea who had taken them or what had been done to them but for now the most important thing was getting out of there as quickly as possible. “Wishful thinking, I know,” Dec admitted. He had been so out of it before that he could have easily passed off what had happened as nothing more of a dream but Caroline was right, they wouldn’t both have injection marks in their arms if it was a dream. Their presence only reiterated what he had seen and as Caroline gasped and traced her thumb under his eyes, Dec’s eyes widened in surprise. “I can’t be, it’s not possible,” he breathed. He knew from Scott and the others that Klaus wanted to create hybrids that were a mix of werewolves and vampires but Dec wasn’t a werewolf, he was a weretiger. Whatever the Original Hybrid had figured out wouldn’t work on him or on other werecreatures because their genetic makeup was a little different, or so his parents had told him anyway, so he knew that there had to be another explanation for it. He had known that something was different from the moment he woke up but now the way that the blood bags had been calling to him made sense even if he didn’t understand how it had happened. Watching as Caroline managed to break the door open and the lock fell to the floor, Dec reached uncertainly for the blood bag as she returned to him but stopped as he caught sight of her hand. “Babe, your hand...” he said, his voice trailing off. Instead of Caroline’s hand looking the way it normally did she had claws instead and he studied it carefully for a moment, watching in amazement as the claws slowly retracted and her hand returned to normal. “It isn’t just me they messed with, your hand shifted,” he explained before letting his own hand half shift to make sure that he still could. “They’ve mixed what we are together. We’re part vampire and part weretiger,” he said slowly as he lifted his gaze and looked over at Caroline, the fact that he needed to complete the transition forgotten for a moment. “I wonder if they did the same to Amy.” It would certainly explain a lot and would also explain why there were two blood bags outside their cell and another two outside of his sister’s. Turning back to Caroline, Dec’s gaze fell to the blood bag in her hand once more. “I’ll die if I don’t drink it, won’t I?”CAROLINE FORBES

Wishful thinking, I know,
Caroline gave her boyfriend a sympathetic smile. "Hey, we're alive, so that's a good thing at least, right?" She tried to lighten up the mood because it was what they both needed right now after such a stressful experience. Though when she explained to him that he was a vampire, she got the reaction she expected because how? How could that even happen? But for some reason, it did happen and there was no denying it. He was lusting for the blood bag which would explain it as well. Not to mention the veins under his eyes. It was something she never expected to see but whatever those masked freaks did to them, it was definitely the reason behind all of this.
Though when Declan mentioned her hand, she tilted his head in confusion and looked down at her hands and what she saw made her immediately shake her hands with a gasp falling from her lips. But whatever "gloves" were put on her hands weren't coming off. "I have c-claws?!" She shrieked before she pressed her hand against her mouth to shut herself up before she could attract the attention of those weird things. She watched as her claws slowly retracted, letting her hand return to how it normally looks. "Oh my god, Dec..." She looked over at him with wide eyes. "That's--- That's terrifying and... I guess cool but still." She breathed out, still shocked about it. "But that would explain why I saw two tubes." She added a moment later, her attention drifting to Declan's sister. "I have no idea..." She breathed out, her attention drifting to Declan shortly after. She looked at the bloodbag before she nodded her head with a sympathetic expression on her face. "Yeah... I'm sorry, baby." She moved the bag closer to him. "Just um, keep your eyes on me and try not to think about the taste too much, yeah?" Without the blood to complete his transition, he was at a huge risk of dying and Caroline really couldn't lose him. Not now. Not ever. "Please?"

Dec always enjoyed spending time with Caroline when he could but if he was honest the worst thing he had thought might happen was that they would end up sleeping late the following morning. He had heard about disappearances going on around the town and he knew that Matt and Hayden had both been taken by whoever was behind those disappearances but it had never occurred to him that he, Caroline and Amy might end up being next. Those responsible had broken into their home and brought them here and Dec knew that his family were going to worry but he knew that they were going to get out of there, they had to. He hated that Caroline had been caught up in it as well but something told him that whoever it was had wanted her as well. They had been hooked up together in some kind of crazy experiment with their blood flowing back and forth in tubes between them so whatever it was that had been done to them they had needed both of them. That thought alone was enough to make Dec angry, his protective instinct kicking in the way it often did, but he knew that now wasn’t the time to dwell on that. They could figure everything else out later so for now they just needed to focus on getting out of there. “Yeah, it is,” Dec said, offering Caroline a smile in return. He knew she was right, the people that had done this had experimented on them and could have easily killed them if they’d wanted to but they hadn’t so that at least was something to be thankful for. Dec hadn’t wanted to think too much about what might have been done to him but he believed Caroline when she said that he was a vampire and from the way her hand had shifted it looked like she had changed too. For a moment he wondered if perhaps they had somehow managed to swap what they were over but he was still able to get his hand to shift as well so he knew that they must have mixed together what the two of them were. “You do but it’s ok. We’ll figure this out, I promise,” he assured her as he brought his hand up and let it rest against her cheek. No matter what was going on right now it didn’t change anything between them and he knew that they would work it out. “I don’t know what this will mean for us just yet, I heard talk that Klaus’ hybrids can shift fully at any time but we’ll find all of that out as we go. It definitely explains a lot though,” he nodded. He had been confused by the two tubes that he had seen as well but now it definitely made sense. He would be lying if he said that he wasn’t worried that the same thing might have been done to Amy and as he looked over into the other cage the second figure shifted and his eyes widened in surprise as he realised who it was. “That’s Jesse in there with her,” he said, dismayed that another of their friends had ended up getting caught up in this. Turning back to Caroline, Dec studied the bloodbag in her hands for a moment. He couldn’t deny that it was tempting and as she confirmed that he would die without it, he nodded. “I’m not going to leave you, don’t worry,” he assured her, his gaze locked on hers as he leaned forward and kissed her gently before taking the bloodbag from her. He knew that that was the other alternative, if he didn’t complete the transition he would die and even though he knew that things might be different given the experimentation they had undergone he knew better than to risk it, especially given that whoever it was that was responsible had gone to the trouble of leaving the bloodbags there to make sure that he and possibly Amy completed the transition. Taking a half step back, Dec opened the bloodbag and kept his eyes fixed on Caroline as he drank from it. This time he felt his fangs elongate and even though the taste was strange to him he could tell that his body needed it. Once he’d drained the bag, he let it fall to the floor and wiped his mouth. “Looks like you really are stuck with me now,” he said, a half smile forming on his face as he looked over at her. “We’d better find a way to free Amy and Jesse and get out of here. Are you ready?” he asked as he held his hand out to her. CAROLINE FORBES

You do but it’s ok. We’ll figure this out, I promise. I don’t know what this will mean for us just yet, I heard talk that Klaus’ hybrids can shift fully at any time but we’ll find all of that out as we go. It definitely explains a lot though.
Caroline nodded her head a few times with a small smile resting on her lips. "I know we will." She trusted her boyfriend and knew that no matter what, they'd find an answer to what the hell just happened to the two of them. She nodded her head a few times as she gnawed on the flesh of her bottom lip. "So we are... hybrids? In some way or the other?" She asked with her head tilted slightly to the side. "We are a mixture of a were-tiger and a vampire, so yeah... Maybe we're a different type of hybrids." She mumbled as she ran her fingers through her hair, still trying to wrap her head around everything.
That’s Jesse in there with her,
Caroline looked at the boy for a few moments. "I think I've seen him around before." She said, her voice still a hushed whisper just in case those freaks were still out there, waiting to hear a thing from them. "Do you think they're like us now?" She jerked her chin toward the bloodbags on the floor. It wasn't just one. God, everything that was going on was all too overwhelming to process. Her attention drifted to Declan when he reassured her that he wasn't going to leave her. Her eyes fluttered shut at the kiss left on her lips as she returned it with ease, her hand moving up to cup his cheek before she finally leaned away and looked at Declan, watching him as he drank from the bloodbag. The smell of blood had her veins reappearing below her eyes but with a couple of deep breaths, she was able to control her urges.
Caroline let out a chuckle at Declan's words before she rolled her eyes fondly as she nudged him with her elbow. Her attention drifted to Amy and Jesse once more before she nodded her head a few times. "Ready." She reached over for Declan's hand and took it in her own. "Let's do this."

Dec had heard about people disappearing around Mystic Falls and turning up different, it had happened to Matt and it had also happened to those who lived quite far away from the town, but he had never thought that it would happen to them. He and Caroline were already supernatural, they weren’t human like Matt, Jenna and even Hayden were when they were taken and experimented on. Caroline was already a vampire and he was a weretiger but now it seemed that they were both a mix of the two species and Dec knew that it was going to take him some time to get his head around it to say the least. Now wasn’t the time to be thinking about that too much though, right now they needed to get out of there as quickly as they could and they needed to make sure that Amy and whoever was in the cage with her were able to get out too. “I think so, it’s the only thing that makes sense,” he nodded. Klaus’ hybrids were the only ones that he had heard about before but he and Caroline were something else and he knew that whoever had taken them and transfused their blood was responsible. “Looks like we’re going to have a lot to teach each other,” he added, knowing that Caroline would be able to help him adjust to the vampire side of him while he could help her adjust to the weretiger side. “It wouldn’t surprise me. Jesse was human but he had to take a week off school recently and I haven’t seen him around much since then,” he explained, knowing that Caroline had shut herself away in the beginning after she became a vampire too. “Even if they’re not exactly like us I know they’ll be different.” He hated the fact that Amy had ended up getting caught up in this too but it was too late now so all they could do was make sure that they all got out of there in one piece. Nodding as Caroline spoke again, Dec gave her hand a gentle squeeze. He wasn’t sure how long they had before whoever had taken them came back and he knew that they needed to get out now while they could, all four of them. Trying again to wake Amy and Jesse but to no avail, Dec tried to open the door but it wouldn’t work. “Looks like their door is sealed shut better than ours was. We’d better look for a key,” he said, glancing around the room they were in before his gaze came to rest on what looked like a study on the opposite side of the cage. “You take the cupboards and I’ll take the desk?” he suggested, knowing that it would be easier to divide and conquer in this case. Caroline nodded her head a few times. "Right?' It was still so freaky but at least they knew what they were now. She smiled and nodded her head. "You're right. I have to teach you control and you have to teach me control, too." She said with a brief chuckle following, her hand lifting to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. She frowned slowly at that and turned her head to look at Jesse. "Oh that poor thing..." She didn't even want to think about what he had gone through. Now she was even more determined to get them the hell out of here.
Even if they’re not exactly like us I know they’ll be different.
Caroline nodded her head slowly at Declan's words. "You're right." Different. It was a word that carried a lot of weight. A while back, she never would've thought she'd end up turning into a vampire. Now look at her. A mixture between a vampire and a were-tiger. "Yeah, it looks really sealed..." She nodded her head at Declan's plan. "Got it." Dividing would help them be done a lot faster. "Here we go...' She breathed out as she began looking through the cupboard, blurring in front of different ones to get done quicker. "Baby?' She called out when her eyes settled upon something strange. "Is that... a book?' She reached out for the book that was hidden pretty well in one of the cupboards. She turned to look at Declan shortly after. "Dread doctors..." She whispered, the name making her heart sink for some reason. "Is that the name of the things that experimented on us?" Caroline asked with widening eyes.

Dec had enjoyed the night that he and Caroline had spent together and he had hoped that they would get to spend some time together the following day as well but this wasn’t quite what he had expected. He had no idea where they were or who had taken them, he didn’t even know how much time had passed since they were taken from his place, but he knew that they would figure it out. Somehow their DNA had been mixed and they were now both different to the way that they used to be but they had always been good at supporting each other and he knew that this wasn’t going to be any different. He had helped Caroline stay in control while they were at prom and he knew that he was going to need her help to learn how to control his new bloodlust but she was going to need his help to learn how to control her weretiger side as well so he knew that they would figure it out. It was scary to say the least but now they knew what they were dealing with so it was just a matter of time before they sorted something out. “I guess now I’ll finally see how bad the bloodlust can be,” he said, a small smile working its way across his face as he looked over at Caroline. He had found out how to help her but he hadn’t truly known what it was like for her but now he was sure to find out. “It’s alright, we’ll help him too if he needs it,” Dec said as he looked over at Jesse before squeezing Caroline’s hand gently. He couldn’t help but feel like he had failed Caroline and Amy in a way since he had wanted nothing more than to keep the two of them safe but he knew that there wasn’t anything that he could have done to stop this anyway so he knew better than to think like that. Right now they didn’t know if Amy and Jesse were exactly like them or if the two of them had been turned into something else but he knew that they would figure it out together and no matter what happened it wasn’t going to change the way that he felt about his twin. Searching for a key that might help them unlock the cell that Amy and Jesse were trapped in, Dec had just found one that looked like it might fit the lock when Caroline called him over and he joined her at the cupboard that she was searching in. “I have no idea but it could be,” he nodded as he took her hand in his once more. “Hold on to it and we’ll look into it when we’re out of here,” he suggested, knowing that they needed to get out of there as quickly as they could before whoever it was that had taken them came back. “I’ve found a key that we can try, come on,” he said as he held the key up before returning to the cage and trying the key in the lock. Thankfully it opened and once Amy and Jesse were awake the four of them were able to get out of there together. CAROLINE FORBES

I guess now I’ll finally see how bad the bloodlust can be, It’s alright, we’ll help him too if he needs it,
Caroline offered him a sympathetic smile upon processing his words. "Yeah... It's not going to be easy, but I'm not going to let you battle it alone, okay? I'll be there. I'll teach you everything Stefan taught me. He was the one who helped me out so much with my control." She said with a small smile resting on her lips. She knew there was no way in hell she was going to let Declan go through all of that on his own. There was just no way. She nodded her head a few times at Declan's words and squeezed his hand gently in her own. "Okay." She whispered in a soft voice. "C'mon, let's find a way to get them out of here." Caroline's skin was crawling and she really wanted to get out of here as soon as possible.
I have no idea but it could be, Hold on to it and we’ll look into it when we’re out of here, I’ve found a key that we can try, come on,
"Okay, yeah. I can do that." She held the book as close as possible to her chest, protecting it with all her might and took Declan's hand in her own again. "Oh, thank god." She breathed out in relief when she saw the key in Declan's grasp. "Let's go." She was more than relieved to see Jesse and Amy awake. With the four of them finally on their feet, they all exited that scary place and Caroline, as promised, held onto the book as tightly as she could.
