Sam Winchester:
Ever since Sam found out about the things in the dark and forced Dean to tell him the truth Sam had been itching to get on a hunt as he believed if all the Winchesters were together then they would be able to protect each other better. He had always looked up to his brother and believed he could do what Dean could do but he wasn't allowed to prove it. Little did he know that John was protecting him after a monster almost killed him on Dean's watch. He just wanted to go hunt and fight the things that killed his mom before he had the chance to really meet her.
It was even more frustrating when he was put to babysit Alix or so it felt like. Dean had been his babysitter but now it was Sam's job. Dean had been hunting with their dad at a younger age than Sam and yet he still wasn't allowed. Sam had snuck out and carried out a few hunts on his own only to get a bollocking from John when he got home. He didn't care, he just wanted to prove he could do it. Sam was pacing around the motel room. It wasn't fair, why were they left behind? Things could still get in the room even with the salt and the devils traps. He believed he would be safer with his family rather than cooped up in a room like a sitting duck.
Sam had been thinking it for the last few nights that their families abandoned them and came back empty handed, they could help find the vampires when they were out of the nest, more eyes looking and all that. The vampires had a type and Sam and Alix were it; young children and teenagers. The amount of times he had begged his dad to let him be bait to coax them in to only be shoot down could be described as too things persistent and stupid for keeping trying. The boy turned to look at the person he was meant to be protecting. "Hey, if I were to leave tonight would you tell on me?" Sam wasn't planning on taking Alix with him but he knew she wouldn't stay behind. He wouldn't force her to go with him but he wouldn't offer either. If she offered then it wasn't his fault for when John returned. There were a few places that the hunters hadn't searched and Sam had followed the cattle mutilations and missing persons to a barn that looked inhabited with humans. The adults hadn't checked it out because they didn't believe that humans and vampires could live together so it was a dead end but Sam wanted to check it out. He had been shot down by John when he suggested it so he was even more determined to go check it out and prove he was right and that he could do more than babysit, or as they put it 'look after and protect Alix'. Babysat. At fourteen it was practically an embarrassment. Alix had scowled about it three nights ago when her parents, her brothers, even Ralphy, had teamed up with John Winchester and his eldest son to try and track a particularly nasty nest of vampires. Shuffled into the Winchesters’ motel room like she was a five year old absolutely incapable of going with Iain and Rohan. She’d been training just as much as they had, was ready for her first hunt way before the two of them had been and yet there was that pesky little rule that had been handed down between the Quinns for generations. No hunting until sixteen. You could train all you liked before then but it wasn’t going to get you anywhere … except for another ratty motel room with someone who obviously had no more interest in watching over her than she had in sitting here and watching him pace back and forth. The first night she’d buried herself in the books she’d brought with her, one of Thaddeus’ journals that she’d already read five times cover to cover and a volume some Quinn had written three generations back on the best way to deal with a vampire nest. It was the sort of thing her parents would’ve stuck to chapter and verse if it hadn’t been for the fact that the nest was too big for them to deal with on their own. John and Dean were roped in and Sam got to stay cooped up with her.
Tonight it was impossible to ignore the smell of desperation that practically filled the air. Alix still wasn’t sure if it came from her or him, especially not after she’d started to eye the bathroom door, wondering whether or not she could get in there and slip out of the tiny window without disturbing the salt they’d been ordered to make sure remained ringing the room. Like demons would come a calling while they were dealing with killer vampires, who wouldn’t be stopped at all by the stuff, or by the devil’s traps that were set up. It would take vervain to slow them down, or one of those stakes she’d slipped into her bag. Biting the tip of her tongue Alix glanced at the bag over the top edge of Thaddeus’ journal. There wasn’t even a lump to be seen above the cramped handwriting but she knew the stakes were there, she’d packed them that evening, just in case she got a chance to slip away from Sam and go and do what she’d spent the last two months training to do. Strike after strike, the vibration of wood against flash painfully slipping up her forearm. Not as easy as she had ever thought but Alix was absolutely sure she could do it.
The sound of Sam’s voice had her twitching guiltily, her eyes shooting away from the bag as she sat up on the bed. Turning her back on it, slapping the book shut in her lap she frowned at him then flicked up a sandy brow. Would she tell on him? Absolutely not, she wasn’t a grass, not even to her parents. Sam didn’t have to know that though. ”Depends,” she shot back, trying not to let him see how eager she’d been to get out of the room herself. ”If you were to leave tonight, would you take me with you?” There was a dare in her green eyes, her body inching forward as she just waited for him to shut her down. ”I’m not some dumb, weak kid, you know. I’m better with hand to hand than Iain is and I know you know where they are. At least you think you do. I heard you talking with your dad. They’re going to the wrong place tonight, aren’t they?” And if she played her cards right and Sam didn’t try and force her to stay back, she was going to get to go on her first hunt. Absolutely unofficially of course but it would be a whole eighteen months ahead of when either of her big brothers had done their first hunt. This wouldn’t be solo but that didn’t matter, it was the next best thing to her taking down something on her own.

Sam Winchester:
Sam thought it was unfair, Dean got to hunt when he was younger than Sam and yet Sam was still stuck looking after a woman who wanted to be out there so much more. Dean may have always known about the monsters that crept in the night even before Sam could walk or talk and got into hunting at a young age but Sam never was the babysitter, Sam never was told about monsters. He found out for himself and then his dad gave him a gun at nine. Here he was nine years later still stuck on the sidelines. Dean may have been always able to beat him in fights. He'd always been told that if Sam could beat his brother more than once he would be able to hunt when he could prove himself to be safe. That was made the Winchester the most angry was the fact as soon as he could prove himself he could hunt but he couldn't hunt until he had proved himself. That was what made him read books, scan newspapers, look for clues. The youngest Winchester was able to find the hunts more than the others and knew the lore more than them but he could not physically fight. This was what made him more admiment on completing this hunt. He had to prove himself and prove to John he was right all along. Sam knew he was right but John wouldn't listen. Dean wouldn't listen. Of course the teenager was scared it would be his first hunt let alone his first solo hunt. Even Dean hadn't have his own solo hunt yet so that meant if Sam could do this then they would have to let him hunt. He hoped they would be proud of him and have faith in him once and for all. However, he was scared of what could happen. He'd seen his brother and father come home covered in blood, or even broken but they were all wrong and were most likely going to get themselves hurt. They needed to know to listen to him and think outside the box. One of the reasons Sam had asked at all was he wanted back up. That way he wasn't exactly alone he would have back up to watch his back in case he made a mistake. "I wouldn't take you, your mother scares me too much to take you but I wont stop you coming along on your own." Before he could tell her yes or no she went on to say how she wasn't dumb or stupid and Sam wasn't one to argue with this. He had seen that already. "I think I do. I have a number of places the others haven't thought to look."Sam didn't like the way his father still treated him like a little kid after all these years. John had given him a gun before he was even ten and yet he didn't trust him enough to respect him and that was mutual. "He never listens to me. They're all going to the obvious places. If I wanted to hide away from people or hide what I truly was then I'd go against the norms and lore hide or live where nobody would expect you to go, somewhere where no one would think to loo-." He shrugged. It wasn't like he hadn't ran away multiple times before and every time even Dean the person who knew him best struggled to find him. There was no point hiding in plain sight unless you wanted to be found. He cut himself off. The last thing he wanted was for someone to know what he would do if he needed a break from his dysfunctional family. Sam placed the map down on the table where he had already marked the possible spots. "I may have already checked the crossed out ones in the day when I managed to get away from my father's prying eyes. The others are the ones I think are their main hide out spots. I'll grab my bag when you have a look." Sam always kept a bag with the hunting essentials, now he had topped it up with extra stakes and vervain grenade bombs and things specific to vampires. He went over to the bed and lifted the cheap bed base up to reveal the duffel bag filled and ready to go.

It had become pretty obvious before she’d even hit her teens that it was pointless to ask to go along hunts. The rules had been set down decades before, the Quinns finally moving with the times and setting down the sort of rules that meant that nobody got to handle their first hunt until they were trained enough to handle it. Watching her brothers try and argue their way around their dad’s rules had only resulted in him actually delaying their hunts. No matter how badly she wanted to get out there she wasn’t about to screw that chance up by trying to shout a man like her dad down. ‘You have to pick your battles’ was as much a Quinn family tenet as ‘patience’ was and they’d all had that drummed into them enough as they were growing up. Problem was, she wasn’t all that patient. Being stuck in a room for three nights in a row while the grown ups went and handled the vampires had been sheer hell, even with Sam for company. It was the hunter version of a kiddy table at Thanksgiving dinner, the place where you got sent off to after they patted you on your adorable little head. Patience wearing thin Alix had known that it was only a matter of time before she gave up being left behind and got herself out of there.
She just hadn’t bet on Sam actually encouraging it. Or that he’d be so damn good at the minutiae of the whole thing. Green eyes narrowed, a squelched ‘yes!’ echoing through her mind as she studied him. He’d obviously grown as desperate as she had and Sammy had the guts to defy the orders that had been shot back by practically every member of their combined families. ”You think that’s going to work as an excuse if we get caught?” Alix asked, flicking a blond brow upwards. ”Not that I’m looking to get us caught.” And that definitely was an us. There was absolutely no way she was going to sit here twiddling her thumbs while Sam went out there and actually found the nest that the others had failed to. Alix shifted eagerly, ready to drag out the map she’d snuck out of the gas station they’d hit on the way into town. She’d studied it herself but there hadn’t been one definite spot she would’ve said they were in. ”What places? I’ve been looking too but I wasn’t sure…” That wouldn’t have stopped her from slipping out and trying though. Even if she would’ve failed she could’ve slunk back here before dawn, when the others would return.
If the two of them were lucky they’d be sitting here, smug as anything when their parents and brothers got home. Their first hunt and they’d have taken out an entire nest of vampires without any help. God it was going to feel good, especially when Iain and Rohan realized that she’d completed her first hunt years before them. Alix tilted her head, one corner of her mouth lifting despite the sigh that whispered out of her. ”Trying having two older brothers who get to do the things you don’t get to. In my family it’s like you’re some big blank until you hit 16.” It sounded like John Winchester took after her parents way too much. Hearing Sam’s suggestions Alix shoved her bag aside and pushed her way to her feet. ”Like the middle of town, not some hovel somewhere rural. My dad always says their natural instinct is to hole up somewhere.” Maybe most did, looking for somewhere isolated where they could kill the owner of a house or compel them into basically handing the place over to them. Not all vampires were the same though, if they were their whole job would be a whole lot easier.
Teeth dragging over her bottom lip, Alix moved close to the table, snaking her way onto one of the chairs, sitting with a leg under her to see the whole thing properly. While she’d been pretending to read Thaddeus’ journal and hiding stakes Sam really had been preparing. She let out a little huff of laughter, amazement in her eyes when she glanced up at Sam. ”You really are good at this. Unless I skip school I can barely get away from my dad for five minutes and even then it’s tough. He’s always lurking in the hallways like I’m suddenly gonna take off and get into trouble.” OK, so many she was gonna take off but the trouble part was totally debatable. Teeth back at her lip Alix tapped her fingers against one of the spots in the middle of the map. ”If it was me I’d go right here. Surrounded by the sort of people who’d probably be out looking for you. Right in plain sight. I brought some tools of my own, figured I’d need them if I was gonna leave you in my dust tonight. You got your own?” The grin she shot Sam as she leaned over from the chair and grabbed her own bag was broad and probably just a little too proud. They’d both been planning this, great minds thinking alike.

Sam Winchester:
Sam was different to Dean, he would always stay when he was told. Dean would look after Sam when he was asked. All his brother wanted to do was please their father but Sam couldn't care less, he was right and they were wrong. He knew his father was stubborn but so was he. Dean would normally be the babysitter to him even at his age but this time he was made to be the child rearer of the family. Maybe leaving on the first time he was given the responsibility was a bad idea as John would make it so that Sam had a tighter watch if this all went south. The teen knew how to sneak past his father, Dean was harder to fool, Dean knew him too well. At times Sam wondered if John even really knew him at all. All he could do was shrug. "To be honest I hadn't thought we would so I haven't thought that through." It was true he thought they would kill the vampire nest and be back in time for tea before the others even got back. "If we get caught I'm not facing your mom. I'd rather move county. My dad on the other hand I can deal with, it wouldn't be the first time I pissed him off." The thing Sam was afraid of was disappointing Dean or getting hurt and seeing the look on his brother's face. The hunter was surprised that she had been looking into it as well. Maybe they were more alike than he first thought. Sam could only imagine what it would be like to hunt in a family unit, where everyone watched each others back rather than arguing all the time about what is right and wrong. "Well I am 16 and John still blanks me. so, count yourself lucky." He shrugged. Sam nodded and tilted his head to the side a little. "You've got it. Hide in a nice house with a nice lawn not some crappy barn." Finally! Someone else who thought the right way! "Thanks." It wasn't as if he got compliments very often especially on his hunting tactics. "Well when my dad had Jim Bean as company throughout the day it's easier. I just say I'm going for a walk or I slip out the bathroom window." He smirked. "It's easier if your small and your dad doesn't give a crap where you are if its not hunting related."That was when it hit Sam, Alix was a girl he could easily trust and see many times on hunts rather than being moved around and never seeing the same face twice. She understood him more than what he thought John did. "Leave me in your dust? I see. I'd like to think I would be harder to avid than that but it's nice to know you were going to ditch me and get me a bollocking anyway. Might as well get one for actually doing something rather than you giving me the slip." She had been planning this anyway? Maybe they would make a good team after all. They may be younger than the others but they had age, speed and out of the box thinking to save them. He took a glance at the map. "Right there it is then. We'll have to be careful not to be spotted by the locals as we go in. Two teens with duffel bags going in, followed by screams and banging wouldn't keep up hidden from our families. Please tell me you brought spare close in case things get messy?"The young hunter threw his jacket on and his bag over his shoulder. He'd been waiting for this day for a long time he could hardly believe he was going on his first hunt and would prove his father wrong, bruising his ego at the same time in front of the Quinns. Tonight was going to be a great night. Tag: ALIX QUINN Notes: sorry for the long wait Words: 671

In a lot of ways her dad was a great parent but when it came to hunting he was just about as rigid as you could get. Her mom had tried to soften the blows that ‘no’ could bring by saying that their family had been doing this for generations, they’d learned certain things by trial and error and what they did now was to stop mistakes from happening, to keep them all as safe as possible. That, Alix had thought at the time, would’ve taken all of them stopping hunting to make it happen, and that just wasn’t on the cards. This was what the Quinns had done since their family had their baptism of fire into the world of the supernatural. It didn’t meant that one of them couldn’t break out of that almost inescapable mold and change things but the chance of it happening were damn near impossible. She probably would have had to have herself emancipated to get anywhere with being heard or being able to do things her way and even that would’ve had an icicles chance of in Hell. Alix knew that all she could really do was bide her time but that didn’t make her any happier.
She’d been doing the same the last couple of nights, sprawled on the bed in the cheap motel room, burying her head in the books she’d brought with her while Sam had echoed her restlessness in the room. Biding her time, driving herself insane to the point where she’d been just about to break before Sam had done that snapping for her. Planning, running everything through her mind, preparing for this so she could grin back at Sam’s shrug. ”You’ve gotta plan ahead,” she told him. ”I’ve already got a list of reasons for our parents, the top one being we heard something here at the motel that led us there. We tried getting hold of them…” Her voice dripped with feigned innocence that had worked on her parents before. Suspicions might rise but if they pulled this off then all of that would surely melt away. Snorting, Alix held her hand out to Sam. ”Deal, we each deal with our own parents. Your dad kinda scares me to be honest..” And Dean … well he was Dean. She’d spent years trying to come at her parents from all angles, earning that disappointed and exasperated look from them all too often.
She guessed that was something her and Sam had in common. He might’ve had a few years on her but their parents still treated them exactly the same, like little kids who couldn’t be trusted to do the hard things. Alix’s smile only grew more wry as she zipped her bag up, sealing what she’d bought with her inside. ”In my family the minute it hits your 16th birthday you would’ve been out there.” That was cold comfort for both of them for now though. Their families who were they were and their only defense against it was going out there by themselves. Teeth raking at her lips Alix rose, restless now and ready to get going. ”What’s the point in compulsion if you can’t get everything you want out of it. A little life of luxury.” But most nests still scurried around in the dark, the idiots. Their families were just as idiotic if they hadn’t figured out what Sam had. Alix let out a sigh, lifting her gaze to catch Sam’s smirk. ”I wish my parents were that oblivious sometimes. If it’s not them watching my every move then it’s my brothers or my Uncle.” She had one out of two, she was small but her family was too invested in her well-being not to watch her like a hawk.
Her parents likely hadn’t realized just how strong a bond John Winchester had with the bottle or they likely wouldn’t have stuck around long enough for her and Sam to really get to know one another. Innocence blossomed in her grin at Sam’s question, her shoulders rising and falling under her denim jacket. ”Maybe it wouldn’t have been a completely clean get away but I’m sneaky, I like to think I would’ve been able to stay out of view if I had to. Weren’t you gonna do the same?” Her brows rose at his mention of getting a bollocking for her slipping out but that kinda went both ways. Luckily if they were getting in trouble for it now it would be together. Nudging Sam with her elbow, Alix shifted on her feet. ”What am I? An amateur? Of course I did and a ready made excuse if anybody comes nosing around. We ran away from home. It’s the truth in a way and as long as our parents aren’t the ones catching us we’ll pull it off.” Bag over her shoulder, Alix headed for the door and peered through the security peep hole for just a moment before she opened it and ducked outside. ”We walking it there?” she asked, green eyes narrowing as she glanced up and down the rows of cars outside.

Sam Winchester:
The young soon to be hunter couldn't believe that Alix had been planning to do the hunt anyway. Sam had seen the bollocking Dean had recieved from John when he had escaped, that would have been aimed at him if Alix had fulfilled her plan but it didn't bother Sam as he would be getting the third degree either way and now he would hopefully avoid it if they both came back from the hunt. He didn't want to think about if it didn't go as planned. He had to give it to her she had the excuse down to a tee. He would just take the wrap or think of something on the spot. Normally anger would take over him and some smart assed remark would raise its head to raise John's hand in return. Sam wasn't scared of it. As soon as he got the chance he would leave John in his dust. He would leave the dysfunctional family behind and make a life for himself elsewhere alone if he had to."We could always say we saw a girl with the same description as the missing persons and we followed it to them..." He didn't know if it would work but it would have to be airtight to keep her out of trouble. Either way he knew he would be in trouble but he didn't have to drag Alix down with him. The teenager shook her hand and sealed the deal.Sam had always thought it was unfair that Dean was out there and he wasn't. At the age of nine he had been given a gun and told not to fear his closet but now he wasn't allowed to go out and actually hunt down the monsters. She was right the vampires could have a life of luxury so why slum it. If he had the choice he knew what he would pick. "Exactly. Wouldn't you pick an easy life in plain sight rather than living in the dumps?""I would have waited until you were asleep or in the bathroom then sneak out the door." He shrugged. "That or I would have lied and said i was going for snacks and locked you in to make sure you were not going to follow or get yourself in trouble." He laughed when she nudged him. "Technically we both are... but we are about to change that tonight, aren't we?" Sam looked around at the cars. "Well we are already in the shit so I could hot wire a car but it may be suspicious when two teenagers drive past a cop car. We would have to take the back routes. If that's okay with you."

Tossing Sam under the bus was just a little cruel but had it absolutely come down to her taking all the blame or shoving a little of it off on to Sam that shoving would’ve been quick and violent. Both of their parents had the sort of strict rules that would’ve made most nuns at Catholic schools look open minded and progressive. No hunting until they were old enough, no raising hell, not literally, or well, maybe literally in their case, while the grown ups were gone, no questioning any of what they were told. Alix had been planning from the start to shrug all of that off tonight if she had to spend hours more trapped in the motel room with Sam, but she hadn’t expected that Sam was feeling the same way. The fact that he was meant that she had to adjust everything she’d already had in mind to explain what was going on. Saying she’d just slipped out to get a snack and witnessing something that had made her head after it was one thing, saying that somehow both of them had was a far more involved excuse. Tilting her head she thought it might still work though, each of her excuses adjustable. Alix’s green eyes narrowed as Sam took her idea and ran with it. She squeezed Sam’s hand, her grin growing. ”Right, we were worried for her safety and we thought maybe we could kill two birds with one stone, make sure an innocent girl didn’t get hurt and find out where the were holed up to tell our families all at the same time.” Only they were never gonna go through with the last bit.
This was their idea and they were going to run with it as far as they could get. She’d come up with the excuses and she’d had a few places to look in mind but Sam had really thought about it, getting likely spots plotted out and not a single one of them was going to be where their parents and brothers were out looking. The rest of them were all wearing their hunters blinkers, blinding themselves to the possibility that these vamps weren’t like all the others. People were capable of bucking the trend and Alix was willing to put money on the fact that these guys weren’t following the pattern of hiding in the scummiest place in town. ”Why live in a shack when you can have a ten bedroom mansion, half a dozen bathrooms and a jacuzzi out back?” It was the sort of luxury most hunters had no clue about it. They lived from hunt to hunt, wheedling money in a variety of legal-adjacent ways, staying in the sort of cheap motels that left you feeling itchy if you thought about it too long. Her parents had always kept them one step above that but not too far. The fact that they weren’t in a glossy hotel was going to make this getaway from easier. Alix tried to scowl at Sam as he said he’d have done something similar to what she’d imagined but she couldn’t keep it up. ”Sneaky,” she accused but without any heat in her voice. ”If you would’ve tried locking me in I would’ve screamed the whole place down til I got out.” They’d both have been in trouble then but it would’ve been worth it.
At least this way there was a chance that they would get the hunt down and get back before their families even realized they’d left the room. All they had to do was make sure that their joined plans didn’t fail. Alix’s grin turned wolfish as she headed for the door. ”Exactly. The worst they can do is try and hold us until they manage to get hold of our parents.” With the multiple phones each family held it wouldn’t be hard to unless they made it that way. Tongue between her teeth Alix eyed the cars, her lips curving as she spotted one. ”Forget hot wiring,” she shot at Sam as she scooted along the line of cars outside the motel. ”How about one with my surname on the registration? My brother left his car here, he must’ve gone with my parents or in one of the other cars. Lucky for us he….” Alix dropped to her knees next to the blue Pontiac that she’d always thought was a piece of crap that would’ve been better off in a junk yard. All the better to avoid the eyes of the cops. She fumbled around under the bumper before she came up with one of those magnetic lock boxes. She cracked the case, shoving it into her pockets for safe keeping before she held the key up in front of Sam. Voila. They’d still have to try and avoid running into anyone who’d question how old Sam was and whether he had his license but at least now it wasn’t technically a stolen car.

Sam Winchester:
Sam knew whatever happened as soon as he took one step out of that door he was in trouble no matter what happened. He would face John's wrath before forcing anyone else to do so. "exactly. We didn't want for anyone else to die because we sat on our asses." Sam would hope to think of a plausible excuse to keep Alix out of trouble, he didnt care if he was in trouble himself but Alix was another matter. He would just have to keep his smart remarks to himself or at least to a minimum. It was such a relief to have someone who thought along the same lines as him. Each and every time he brought it up to Dean or John he would get shot down. 'Lore is everything. If it doesn't stick to the lore then we have nothing to go by.' Oh how the youngest Winchester tried to protest but even at a young age John and him never did get along. "Wow. You would really go for the whole hog to get our families in trouble rather than just sneaking out after me?" Sam had it all planned out except the idea that Alix wanted to go as well had never crossed his mind. Sam was surprised that the Quinn's left the keys accessible to all. John would never let the Impala's keys away from him. The young hunter wasn't about to complain as it meant they had one less offence to their names if caught, not that they would be or so he hoped. "Well look at you, being all resourceful? Joking." He placed his hands up quickly. Sam had learnt to drive from John and Dean, mainly Dean but he was never allowed to drive unoccupied and the impala had always been off limits. Sam tried to hide the glee from his face "You want to drive as its your brothers car?" Oh he hoped to drive on a hunt so badly but if she didn't want him driving her brother's car he would understand. Tag: ALIX QUINN Notes: Sorry for the wait!! Words: 350

Rohan had always been the one to understand her frustration the most. He was the one she went to when she wanted to scream over their parents rules, the one who managed to calm her down and assure her she’d get her day out there. Even he’d told her to stay put tonight though, that she wasn’t ready for what they were going up against. If the Winchesters weren’t around and Sam hadn’t been tasked with babysitting duty maybe she’d have been allowed to go along and play the geek in the chair, watching after her little brothers while the others dealt with what was going on but Sam had agreed. Her younger brothers were at a ‘sleep over’, leaving just her to sit and twiddle her thumbs … and convince Sam, not that it had taken much, that they going got out there and make a difference. Alix tried to keep the smug from her face as Sam continued to agree with her but God it was hard when she had someone who really understood there. ”Exactly,” she said sweetly, that cat that got the canary smile on her face. ”Saving lives trumps everything else.” Except for how pissed their parents were going to be if they found out about this. Alix was laying everything on the if. If this went right they’d be back here before any of them had a clue that they’d not only gotten out but had finished the hunt too.
One way or another she’d been planning to make it happen tonight. For night after night now the two of them had been left holed up while the grown ups tried and failed to fix the vampire problem in town. Alix hadn’t wanted to get Sam in that much trouble but if that had been her only option she absolutely would’ve done it. It wasn’t like her parents put much trust in the Winchesters anyway. Once the hunt was over they’d be back on the road and she absolutely doubted she’d see John or his boys again. Alix tried for innocence as she hitched her chin but that smile was already playing at her full lips as she folded her arms across her chest. ”I told you I had a plan for this didn’t I? I didn’t know if you were actually going to listen to them and force me to stay put again.” She was desperate, that need to prove that she didn’t need to wait until she was sixteen to be effective driving her mad with an itch under her skin. ”I doubt this place would yell at our families too much. It’s not exactly the Marriot is it?” That was on purpose, it always was. The high class places not only cost more than most hunters could pay for them, they also asked too many questions.
Hunters had to be resourceful and that was one thing that her dad believed should be taught at an early age. Alix doubted that Rohan had pictured her doing this when he’d taught her how to drive on a dusty back road somewhere in Missouri. Getting back to her feet, Alix held up the key case to her brother’s Pontiac with a grin. ”I’m all kinds of resourceful,” Alix grumbled, grinning as she slugged Sam on the arm. Teeth sinking into her lower lip she glanced at the car and then back at him. She wanted to drive but she looked way younger than Sam did, too young if they were stopped. ”You better,” she told him, holding the key out to him. ”I’ll look like a twelve year old driving that thing. If any cops are around they’re gonna be less likely to think you’re not old enough to drive than they are me. It gets a little sticky in third." Feeling a little breathless with anticipation now, Alix scurried away to the passenger side and waited for Sam to unlock the Pontiac. She scrambled in then, shoving her bag down at her feet and buckling herself in. Just because they were going against the ‘rules’ didn’t mean she was going to be an idiot about that.
