 til now. Finn's life, as far as he remembers it was born in fire. Plucked miraculously alive from the ashes of a cottage he had burned, Finn's adoptive father Gadifer de la Salle would raise him as his own. Growing up in the French court, with the Duke of Burgundy as his benefactor, the most Finn could hope for was to become a knight. It wasn't until years later, after more than one wound that should have killed him, that he realised he wasn't aging. It took decades to discover what he was. By then he'd already fought at the side of Joan of Arc and had mourned her bitterly when she was killed. For centuries afterwards Finn moved from war to war, plying his sword and eventually more modern weapons.
In the mid-18th century he tried settling down in the Scottish highlands as a crofter but war was on the horizon there. In love with the crofter's daughter, Finn was pressed to fight again but not before he had gotten Bridget pregnant and they had wed. Finn was in the middle of a battle field in England when his son was born. By the time Finn had returned, having dragged himself from a field of the dead and all the way back to Stirling, Bridget, Alec and the cottage had all seemed to go up in flame. Unaware his son had survived, Finn went after the man he blamed for their deaths - his father in law. Having burned the man to death without learning the truth Finn went back on the road, plying his only skill again.
Three years ago, having again died in battle Finn heard of Mystic Falls as a town on the brink of a supernatural war. Looking to offer what he could he travelled to the town and went 'under cover' as a French teacher at the high school.
friends. Friendship has long been an alien concept to Finn. There were fellow knights when he was younger, the squires who served them, those in the employee of his father's benefactor who he would have called acquaintances. However, when you move on every few years and spend the majority of your time watching those around you fall in battle, you rarely get to spend long enough around anybody to get to know them. Finn is likely to be civil, personable even, but this is truly an alien concept to him.
enemies. Spending the better part of six hundred years at war with one side of another guarantees that the list of enemies will be a long one. At one time the Duke of Burgundy and his followers were top of this, eventually giving way to the English who killed his wife and son. Now there may be a few that have followed him home for war, but for the most part Finn tries to avoid adding to this list away from the battlefield.
family. As far as Finn knows, he no longer had any family alive. His parents were killed when he was three by the man who would then call himself his father. That father, Gadifer de La Salle, would then die in turn. The wife it took Finn over three hundred years to find was burned by the English in the wake of the first attempt for Scotland to take back the crown. He believes his son perished at the same time, lost to the flames like so many others in his long life.
lovers. Finn will readily admit there have been many of these over the years. He may still fight like one of the Knights of religious order who once supposedly kept peace in the world but he has never been a monk. Both before and after his marriage Finn has taken women to his bed, rarely dabbling more than one once or twice with them. Bridget was his one true love, the one exception to that rule and Finn believes she will be the only exception.

Having someone react like that would certainly be a first for Finn. He doesn't tend to reveal what he is too often, in fact he tries to keep it all quite deeply buried. It would be good for some others in town to be aware of what he is though. Right now only Taryn knows (and Jordan might find out soon).
We could always have a little dramatic fun with these two. Perhaps Finn has a run in with someone in town and is forced to defend himself after he's supposedly hurt. If Rory witnesses it and then notices there's no injury I imagine she'd be absolutely full of questions.

I'm throwing my dear Casey your way! One idea I had was maybe Casey is mid hunt and she tails the vampire to the school after hours. She gets inside to continue her pursuit but Finn is still there, doing teacher stuff. He could hear her running through the hall and maybe comes to inspect who's inside the school at that time of day, or the vampire could get to him first? Let me know what you think or if you have better ideas, we could always do a "normal" thread too

Well, you know how I love your dear Casey and how I love drama - so the idea sounds fantastic to me. Finn's been trying to get a line on what's going on supernatural-wise in Mystic Falls so him coming face to face with a vampire and a hunter all at the same time would be fun. Gives him a chance to use his little power on the vampire, although that will be one hell of a clean up for the poor janitor. XD

Finn has certainly started to see a few students as his favourites - Davina, Sawyer and perhaps Aurelie too. When did she leave France? Finn has been back and forth to what he sees as his home country fairly often over the years. If it was during the time that she was there he may find her a faintly familiar face.

Finn could have been in France then, that's a bit of a blank spot on my timeline for him. He was fighting for England in the first and second world wars, but before that I'm happy to say that he was in France for a short time. They could have known each other then. He would certainly be surprised to see her still around the same age now.

No worries. We can do a thread another time. Finn has fought in most of the major wars since around 1500. Finn had moved to America after he lost his family in the 18th century and fought on America's side in the revolutionary war. He could have been injured in one of the battles and taken to the field hospital, only of course, phoenixes are immortal and so he then would've appeared as though he hadn't been hurt at all. I imagine it would be a big shock for Madison to realise that she'd encountered Delphine's real father all those years ago. FINN DE LA SALLE & @violet
Given that her name is French Finn might assume she has some talent there. We could either go with a normal school sort of thread or have some sort of situation there that the two of them get caught up in somehow.

No problem. That gives me time to catch up a little. I'm all good for getting going on it whenever you're ready. I don't imagine they would've crossed paths before but perhaps he could offer to start tutoring her to help when she returns to school. He could always see her surname as a reason why she should be about to speak French better.
