Neither of them had sat down and properly apologised to each other. Leah never fully said sorry for the whole Hannya situation, and Remzi never apologised for the shit he said to her at the club. Yet, here they were, back to sleeping together, falling into their old patterns as if nothing had happened. That’s just how they were. Someone would screw up, no apology would be given, but eventually, all would be forgiven—although this fallout had lasted longer than Leah wanted. Still, it was a system that suited her because admitting she was wrong wasn’t exactly her strong suit.
It wasn’t just in the bedroom they were spending time together; it was outside too. Whenever she wasn’t reaping souls, Leah found herself getting bored quickly. Mystic Falls was dull, with little to do during the day—especially for someone who didn’t have a normal nine-to-five job. During those moments of boredom, she ended up spending time with Remzi, doing normal things like grabbing coffee or drinks together.
The words would never leave her mouth, but she had missed spending time with him. He had a way of making her laugh like no one else could, one of the only people who could draw out a genuine smile. But of course, she pretended none of that was true.
Remzi had casually mentioned Nashville in conversation, mostly talking about how hot the girls looked in their short shorts and cowboy boots. Meanwhile, Leah was thinking about the cowboys. Somewhere in the middle of their conversation, she threw out the idea that if Remzi really wanted to go to Nashville, she could get them there in a second, and he could compel them a fancy hotel room. Ten minutes later, they were in Nashville.
They headed into the first lively bar they spotted, parking themselves at the counter to order drinks. Remzi’s hands slipped around her waist as he whispered into her ear, making Leah let out a soft laugh just as the bartender approached them.
"I just gotta tell y’all, you're the hottest dang couple I've seen, like, ever," the bartender said.
Leah’s body tensed a little. The urge to snap back and clarify that they weren’t a couple rose quickly. Remzi had a girlfriend—a fucking fiancée, no less—tucked up in bed back in Mystic Falls.
