Nacho was going to be the death of her. He’d been complaining all night that he had a bad stomach ache but Lottie couldn’t decide if it was just some way of getting attention and sympathy from her. He insisted it wasn’t. So she hauled him into his carrier (after a twenty minute argument about how he didn’t want to go inside it) and took him to see Destiny. If anyone could shed light on why Nacho might be feeling so sick, it was Destiny. Plus, she wouldn’t need to fork out on ridiculously expensive vet bills. Just after they were leaving the apartment though Lottie delivered a stern warning to Nacho. If he was lying about his stomach she’d abandoned him at the side of the road.
Of course, she’d never actually do that. Nacho was one of her best friends now—a thought she hadn’t yet decided was comforting or sad having a cat as a best friend. But she also had a real human best friend, Destiny, so she wasn’t a complete loner, which was a concern of hers when she arrived at Mystic Falls. Yes, she had Lucky but they weren’t exactly going to go shopping or grab a Starbucks together. They never had that kind of relationship. In fact she was certain that Lucky had no best friends. There was Catia too, but Lottie had been actively avoiding her sister, terrified Lucky’s secret would slip from her mouth.
If it weren’t for Destiny, Lottie might have left Mystic Falls by now. While she loved being close to her sisters, she still felt out of place in town—until Des came along and took her under her wing. Their friendship softened the sting of her recent divorce and gave her the stability she needed.
Lottie set Nacho’s carrier down on the table, unlocking the door allowing him to step out. “I think Nacho has something wrong with his stomach. He’s been off his food for a few days.” And constantly complaining every second of every day.
