━ there is good in my heart, but these hands belong to the devil ━ SADIE HAD SAID THAT ‘PARKING LOT GUY’ WAS a bloke she’d seen around her building, but, upon more questioning, it came out that he worked at the club. Which was better, ‘cause Darcey didn’t wanna have to make a scene at this guy’s house. That’d get him put on a list━at the very least.
Either way, he couldn’t just go on tellin’ normal people the secret. If he was a warlock, he had a duty to keep that to himself. Sadie was alright, so it was okay that she knew. But she was a writer, and she’d put this in one of her books, and that could land her in some bad situations. Plus, maybe Darcey would’ve liked to tell her himself one day.
He headed to the club thirty minutes after closing, and lit a cigarette as he waited. A group came out, some chatting, some looking desperate to get home. “Oi, which one ‘f you’s Tobi?” Darcey asked, stepping towards them, pulling the cigarette from his mouth. The group mainly went quiet, but pointed to the doors just as they opened again. Some guy came clambering out, and Darcey turned to him, squaring his shoulders and nodding upwards.
“Tobi?” He said, then narrowed his eyes. “Gotta talk to ya. S’about Sadie.” That would likely immediately tell him everything he needed to know about this conversation━especially that it should be had privately. Darcey waited for him to tell the rest of his coworkers to move on, otherwise Darcey would have to.

Tobi realised he’d struck gold when he saw on the rota he wasn’t working until close that evening. He could hop onto the opposite side of the bar once his shift ended, order himself a drink and dance on the dancefloor until the place closed. Most people would dart out of work once they finished, but where else could he go? Home. There was no way he was going to spend his Friday night at home, plus things were still a little questionable between him and River. The evening drew to a close and Tobi had ended up having more than one drink. He’d had several drinks. He was upright and talking though, which was the main thing. He stayed back for ten minutes, chatting with the other staff before they all shuffled out the door leaving the downstairs staff to continue with their night. He could have peeled off from the group and joined the immortals downstairs, but he followed the others to the casino. He’d come away from that with a little less money in his bank account rather than a chunk of his neck missing. As he pushed the door open he realised a few people were pointing at him, then a stranger spoke. For a moment he was like who the fuck is Sadie? Then he remembered. “Ominous but sure.” Clearly whatever this man wanted to speak to him about was to be done in private. He glanced at the rest of the group, “I’ll catch up with you.” The group continued their journey down towards the casino and Tobi turned back to the man, who looked pissed or maybe that was just his resting face. ━ there is good in my heart, but these hands belong to the devil ━ HE GLARED AT THE MAN WHO APPEARED IN THE doorway, then stepped back and walked a few feet away, waiting for Tobi to join him there.
Once he did, Darcey began his lecture, “What the hell’s the matter with you, eh?” He shook his head, “This shit’s meant to be a secret, it’s one of the first things they tell ya.” But maybe whoever raised this idiot hadn’t bothered, “You can’t go ‘round tellin’ regular people ‘bout us, let alone showin’ them your magic. Are you fucked, mate?” Darcey raised one of his hands and tapped his finger into the spot between Tobi’s brows roughly. “But because of you, I had t’stop Sadie from goin’ mad after what ya showed ‘er. If you’re gonna fuck up, at least wait around t’explain it, eh?” Though, he had a feeling that Sadie wouldn’t have listened━she wanted to rant to someone she was close to, not get an explanation.
