Mikey had started to do a headcount at the beginning of each day. It was to keep track of how many were being brought in and whether anyone had escaped. The numbers increased, which was expected. He couldn’t even figure out if they were still collecting people from Mystic Falls. Then one day the number dropped by one, but he couldn’t figure out who had gone. He didn't bother to memorise everyone's face. It sparked hope inside of him though. There was a way home and he was determined to find it. He needed to get back to Mystic Falls. Back to Chase. Back to Mab. Whilst being stuck inside the station he had been thinking about Mab a lot. He missed her, so much so it made him sad. A horribly feeling sat inside his chest when he thought about never seeing her again. It hurt. The only other person who he felt like that about was Chase, but that was because he was his brother and he loved Chase, but why did he feel a sense of sorrow when he thought about Mab. They were only friends. Kace almost fell out of his seat laughing when Mikey told him about Mab, introducing her as a friend who he occasionally shared a bed with and spoke to almost everyday. Kace asked him if they were really just friends. Mikey insisted they were. But the whole conversation had him second guessing how he felt towards Mab. There was no point entertaining the idea though. Why would a woman like her have feelings for someone like Mikey? It still didn’t stop him from wanting to break out of the station and find her. He found himself watching two people in particular. A woman and a child. Those Ghostriders really didn’t give a shit if they were out there scooping up children, but this woman had taken the child under her wing. He noticed them disappear into a room one day, then again a second time. A few days later the child disappeared and they were down a person on the headcount. Then the woman disappeared. Mikey was certain it had something to do with whatever was in that room. The first time he went inside he had no idea what he was looking for. A secret door maybe or a passage. He searched high and low, hoping to see something. His time was cut short when he heard the faint sound of horses trotting into the station. The second time he headed inside he focused on the equipment. The dials did nothing, despite sliding them up and down countless times. He picked up the radio, fiddling around with the buttons on the side, but nothing happened. He sank down in the chair slightly, sighing heavily when the door opened, causing him to jump violently. “Fuck!” He called out as he turned the chair towards the woman at the door, the radio falling onto the counter, “Who are… wait. Your friend has been talking to my friend out there.” He nodded towards the doors. Kace had spread his social butterfly wings soon after they landed and befriended some girl who confirmed they were in fact stuck in this living nightmare until they were remembered. PENNY BARTLETT

━ for a dreamer, night's the only time of day ━ PENNY HAD EVEN LESS TO DO AFTER WINTER LEFT, which was saying something, because she’d been bored before that. One might’ve thought this was Penny’s biggest dream━a place where no one would bother her, where she could be alone and have peace. But, first of all, there were no rocks or precious metals here, and━as it turned out━she kind of missed the people in her life. Which was a gross and uncomfortable thing to realize.
Especially when she would maybe never get out of here. She had a glimmer of hope that Winter would find Lawrence, but what if it wasn’t enough to get her out of here? How much did she really mean to him, and was it enough to remember someone he didn’t know existed?
Penny spent most of her time people-watching. She thought about talking to the long-haired, blond dude Winter had been chatting up, but decided she wasn’t quite that desperate yet. She’d watched the woman and the child until they were gone, and then… the dark-haired guy who’d come with the blond. She hadn’t seen Winter talking to him (he probably looked too scary for her), but Penny watched him disappear into the same room the woman had gone to with the child.
Maybe he’d be less annoying to talk to than the blond.
Penny rose from her chair and followed him, thinking about how or why the Ghost Riders would let there be another room. It seemed too easy, especially if something in here had helped that woman get out. She pushed open the door━which was heavier than she’d expected, and hissed under her breath as it scraped along the floor. He, apparently, hadn’t been expecting the sound, either, and Penny grumbled as she quickly shut the door behind her. The last thing they needed was everybody coming here to find out how to help themselves.
“Had been.” She corrected with a frown, “She’s gone now. You’re not very chatty, though, are you?” Penny walked over to stand beside where he was sitting, looking over the buttons in what appeared to be a control room. “Any of it work?” She asked, slowly looking over to him and wondering out loud, “Why the fuck would they put something like this in here? Is it just supposed to be another selling point of the whole ‘train station’ shit?”

Mikey hadn’t seen the Ghostriders kill anyone but it didn’t mean they weren’t rounding up people, taking them out the back and shooting them in between the eyes with real bullets. Maybe that’s what happened to the woman and the kid. Scooped up before anyone noticed. Maybe they were killed because they went into the room Mikey was about to step inside of. There was only one to find out. It was impossible to not feel a slight bit of hope when he stepped inside the room. There was a radio there for starters. A means of contacting someone, somewhere. But he kept his hopes underwraps because there was a strong chance the thing was a dud. Just another fake piece of equipment to make up the fake train station waiting for their fake fucking trains. His sense should have picked up that there was another person in the room, but they’d been switched off. Mikey was just a regular guy, not someone who turned into some weird scaly creature every month. It was the only good thing that had come out of being kidnapped. He picked up the radio off the floor as the woman spoke. Gone. The other woman had gone. “What’d you mean gone?” Taken out the back and shot between the eyes? He set the radio back down on the counter, “I’ve been told my only form of communication is through grunts and nods.” With most people. Mab had managed to pull more than a few sentences out of him though. The words flowed easily when he was with someone he felt comfortable with. “Nah. Even the dials and shit don’t work.” With one hand he flicked a few of them up and down. Nothing. “Maybe the radio calls out into the waitin’ room.” Mikey picked the radio up, pressing the button on the side. He cleared his throat, “Attention ladies and gentleman. The train to Mystic Falls has been cancelled. The next train will be in four days so please sit back and relax… you bunch of brainless fuckin’ idiots.” It was impressive that people out there were still stuck in their zombie-like state. They were the lucky ones though. They didn’t want to go home or miss their family. PENNY BARTLETT
