Son of a bitch has rammed all her belongings into one corner without even trying to figure out who they belonged to. Fuck. She was seething as she collected everything, throwing it onto her bed. Already she could feel the tears brimming in her eyes as she sorted through her clothes. Lex didn’t care enough to firstly put her things into a nice pile in the corner or secondly to try and remember her. No one remembered her in fact. Not a single damn person in the world cared about her enough to remember her and it hurt so fucking much. The only reason she was out was because Elias was somehow immune to the Ghost Riders and needed her help. He did come for her because she was trapped. Any feelings of happiness about being back were quashed by sheer anger she was feeling towards Lex. He was probably too busy playing inside his laptop or running around with the man (Tom?) to realise fragments of Winter had been left behind. Little clues were scattered across the hotel room, there for him to pick up but no he just discarded it all into a pile because she was nothing to him. She was just the chick he met at a fair who gave him a ride to Mystic Falls. She was out here thinking they were friends. That a part of him was capable of caring for her, even just a tiny tiny bit. No, it was nothing. She couldn’t pack her bags just yet though. She needed to find this Lawrence person and tell him about Penny. Once that was done she'd be throwing her bags in the back of her van and jumping straight on the highway out of Mystic Falls. Lex had let her down, which was the exact reason she never relied on anyone. She couldn’t rely on her own fucking dad so why did she think she could rely on Lex? Sure, he saved her from the auction that one time and footed the bill for the hotel room until she could find a job and yes he kind of looked out for her when it came to that dirt bag online. But it all meant nothing to him in the end. The hotel door clicked open and all she wanted to do was launch herself across the room at Lex. “You fuckin’ asshole!” She yelled as she threw one of her tops down on the bed. “I’ve been missing for six months and you didn’t even realise.” She heaved after she saw the date on her phone when Elias dropped her off. It had been a long time, but she didn’t know it had been that long. “I was relying on you to bring me back because I thought we were friends!” Her voice gave in towards the end as she started to crumble. Tears streamed down her face as she sat down on her bed, “I thought we were friends.” She whispered as her face fell into the palms of her hands and she began to sob, hard. LEX CAMERON

━ one click and you are overwritten ━ LEX GRINNED TO HIMSELF AS HE WALKED BACK to the hotel after hanging out with Hazel all night, then mentally slapped himself for it. Jeeeeez, he was turning into a little girl or somethin’, man. Smiling over some chick? Some chick who was… kinda his girlfriend now? He didn’t remember ever definitively deciding that with her, but it kinda seemed like Hazel decided it herself. Anyway, she was cool, so it was whatever. They’d hold hands and watch movies and eat snacks and shit. It was chill. It was like having a dude friend, except he’d only ever had one guy friend, and he’d never wanted to hold that guy’s hand. So maybe it wasn’t like having a guy friend.
It wasn’t like Lex had much experience with friends in general. Just that dude and, like, Hazel, and he was pretty sure that was it. Unless you counted whoever left their shit in his hotel room, which he didn’t.
Lex spun his keys around his finger as he slipped into the elevator. He passed his (empty) fingers over the spot to touch his fob, doing it himself and grinning. He’d never get tired of that. He’d literally be fine if he ever forgot his keys, which was dope as fuck.
He strode through the hallway ‘til he reached his door, and touched his hands to the pad again, watching the little light go green. The moment he entered, though, Lex realized he wasn’t alone.
Apparently, whoever owned that stuff was back.
Lex froze for a second, staring with wide eyes as the girl shouted at him. As she did, his memories came rushing back like a sledgehammer to the head, and Lex wondered how the fuck he’d ever forgotten her. Winter had just… disappeared completely, from his life and from his brain.
“Chill out!” Lex yelled, mostly ‘cause he wasn’t sure what else to do, and slipped all the way inside, then closed the door behind him. “We are━” It was hard to bring himself to say it, but Lex knew that they were friends.
“Bring you back from where?” He asked, voice straining, “You’re all pissed, but why would you leave if we were friends?” He was deflecting because he didn’t know what else to do, but he felt guilty over something he defs didn’t control. Like, why the fuck would he forget Winter? “I didn’t forget fuck all━” He argued, “━Someone made me!”

All her anger and frustration was leaking out of her and unfortunately for Lex it was directed at him. She was pissed Elias was the one to save her. A person who claimed to dislike her because they shared the same DNA. There was no other reason Elias should dislike her or maybe he was just an asshole who hated everyone for no reason because his life was so damn miserable. It was probably the second option. Her anger was amplified when she noticed her things in the corner of the room. Penny mentioned Winter may have left behind things when she was taken, so she wasn’t completely removed from reality. But she was furious to see she left behind her whole fucking wardrobe and Lex still hadn’t figured out she was gone. Her skin was burning up as she started to dig through the clothes, noticing some things were missing. It wasn’t like she had a lot of clothes to begin with. Had this asshole sold her shit? No, it was likely he’d just thrown it in the trash, just like their friendship. “Don’t tell me to chill out! Winter wasn’t some stupid girl who lost her temper for no reason. She couldn’t remember the last time feeling so angry. The emotion was spiralling into sadness quickly though as the tears started to flow. It was impossible to stop them once they started. She lifted her head as Lex started to speak, brushing away her constantly falling tears. “They took me! Those fuckin’ rider people kidnapped me and Penny and we’ve been trapped in a fuckin’ train station for months. Months, Lex!” She inhaled slowly, choking over her sobs. She didn’t even cry this much when her dad died. “They made you forget me but you were supposed to remember me. You were supposed to save me… I thought maybe you’d remember me especially when my wardrobe is in the fuckin’ corner of the room!” Her voice started to increase in volume again, “Who did you think those clothes belonged to?” It wasn’t like Lex was inviting girls over to their hotel room all the time. Winter is convinced he’s never even kissed a girl. LEX CAMERON

━ one click and you are overwritten ━ LEX WASN’T OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT you weren’t supposed to tell chicks to “chill out.” He’d seen an adverse reaction once or twice, but just figured it was ‘cause they were crazy or some shit. But Winter wasn’t crazy, and yet telling her to “chill” caused a worse reaction.
Rider people? Kidnapped? Yo, shit… was she talkin’ about those scarecrow-ass, horseback-riding Yellowstone dudes? “Riders… like horseback riding?” He asked quietly, trying to piece this together. Maybe it didn’t matter, but it was still wild to know that he’d almost been kidnapped, too. Or maybe Hazel. Whatevs.
He kept perfectly still as she cried, like one stray tear would sling itself across the room and pierce his skin (honestly, she was so mad that it just might). “How was I gonna remember you when they made me forget? That shit don’t make no sense!” He said the last part in a weird voice, like a dude in an early 2000s rap video, but quickly realized it wasn’t going to make her laugh. Not now. “How was I gonna save you if they didn’t let me realize you were missing?” His voice was like a croak now, defeated as he watched her sob and yell at him. He didn’t wanna feel bad, but it was getting harder to fight, especially with the way she crumbled in front of him.
“I━I dunno,” He stammered, blue eyes flicking to the heap of clothes on the floor. Lex furrowed his brow, and could remember idly shoving them aside like a zombie, totally unaware of his movements. “I didn’t think about it. Didn’t even know what I was doing.” He said quietly, almost to himself, like he was trying to figure it out now━like it’d matter or change anything. “Guess I thought they were Hazel’s.” Lex added, but it didn’t make sense to him.
The sound of her sobs flooded his mind again, and Lex looked over Winter’s wet, rosy face, frowning deeply. He wanted to fix it, and not just ‘cause it made him kinda uncomfortable to see girls cry. He wanted to fix it ‘cause he didn’t want her to be sad.
“Do… do you want… a hug?” Lex asked, raising his hands an inch like a weak offering. He knew how she felt about touching (and how he felt, too, especially with displays of affection), but she’d hugged him the night of the auction, so this was probs okay, right?
He wasn’t old enough to realize he should’ve just done it instead of meekly offering, but he wasn’t sure what else would help.

Horseback riding. Camelback riding. Who gave a shit? She’d just told Lex she’d been kidnapped and he was asking what mode of transport these people were using. “I don’t know! It’s not like I asked them for a fucking ride.” It must have been horses though with the sound of hooves slamming against the concrete moments before she and Penny were shot. “I think it was horses.” She added, her voice a little lower this time. She didn’t know how Lex was supposed to save her only that he should have done. He was her only hope and he let her down. “But you should have remembered me. We’ve been living together for a while now and I thought you’d realise I was gone… or at least someone important was missing from your life.” Clearly she wasn’t that important to him though. Just the chick who gave him a ride to Mystic Falls. That was as far as their friendship extended. Winter was aware that she was being slightly dramatic, but couldn’t help herself. All the tears she had held back for months came spilling out of her the moment she saw Lex. There was an excuse for the clothes though. Another girl. Hazel. “Who is Hazel?” Typical male behaviour. Didn’t bother to check with this Hazel girl whether or not the clothes belonged to her. He just let them gather dust in the corner for months. She was reaching that point though where she felt like she was going through vomit due to crying. It was a strange sensation. Winter never cried but all those feelings of abandonment were crushing her. She was barely in her twenties and was feeling completely alone in the world. If she were to die only a few people would come to her funeral. She’d spent so long cruising through life telling everyone she didn’t give a shit that she was an orphan with no friends or family, but she’d come to realise that she did care. Winter shook her head, getting to her feet, “No.” She brushed the tears away using the palm of her hand, “I gotta go and find some vampire anyway. Penny’s still stuck in there and I gotta get her out.” She needed a few hours to cool down as well, “I’ll be back later.” Or she’d climb into the back of her van and sleep there for the night. She hadn’t decided, but she knew eventually she’d forgive Lex for being an airhead idiot. LEX CAMERON - the end!
