Aw, wasn’t it so sweet of Phoebe to let him stay with her for a while? No. It wasn’t. Lawrence saw through her bullshit. She wanted to keep an eye on her, make sure he didn’t fuck up and do something he’d later regret. It went without saying though Lawrence had no intention of going back to his old self. The version of him that had emotions. Once the switch flipped he felt that wonderful sense of freedom again where he didn’t care about anyone or anything. A weight had been lifted.
Phoebe was probably already devising a plan to force him to flick his humanity back on but she was wasting her time. Last time it took two years before anything started to seep through and the only reason that happened was because of the pregnant bitch. So, rule number one. Avoiding killing pregnant women. Rule number two. Make a mental list of things Phoebe could use against him. Herself, Teddy and maybe even their dead mom.
Teddy was in the firing line, but for other reasons. Son of a bitch changed the name on the deed, forcing that invisible wall back up so Lawrence couldn’t get inside. He didn’t actually want to live with Teddy again anyway with all his strict rules about cleaning, decaf coffee and having no demons in the apartment. But Phoebe hadn’t collected everything when she went over, leaving a very small selection of things there. Mainly his whiskey collection and a pair of shoes.
The whiskey and shoes weren’t the only thing he wanted to speak to Teddy. Apparently Teddy’s child was trapped in some ghost train station, according to the girl who came to see him at the club. Strikingly beautiful with an outstanding chest but Lawrence held back inviting her back to his bedroom because she was whining too much. Winter was all traumatised and shit about being locked in an abandoned train station for a few months. Boo hoo. Lawrence listened to her relay the story with a deadpan face, clearly uninterested, until she mentioned Penny.
Teddy wasn’t the only one forgetting someone. Any memory of Penny had been wiped from his mind, memories which started filtering through when Winter explained who Penny was. The dragon from the library who stole his ring. It hadn’t completely slotted together, but there was enough there to remind him about this woman he had feelings for. Thankfully they were gone now, but Winter was telling Lawrence he needed to save Penny. She was relying on him. He asked what was in it for him and she looked all confused. There was no reward for saving Penny, so why would he?
Armed with the information about Julian Lawrence headed over to Teddy’s apartment and knocked loudly on the front door, ready to take it off its hinges if Teddy didn’t answer within the next few seconds. But then he heard the door unbolt and finally opened. “You tell me who’s name is on the deed and I’ll tell you everything about the creepy child room you have… I know who the room belongs to and it appears you do too.” He leaned against the door frame, folding his arms as he did so, “Or I will burn this apartment to the ground then no one will be allowed inside.” It wasn’t bothering him that he wasn’t invited inside, it was bothering him Teddy and Phoebe were quick enough to banish him.
