Damn she was pumped for Halloween. Fucking puuuuumped. The only reason she knew of the event is because Phoebe told. After that Kitty practically sprinted to the club to put her name down without giving it a second thought. At no point did it dawn on her she could have the shit kicked out of her and be seriously hurt. Nope Kitty was just being Kitty, not really taking a moment to think about the consequences. She was a wolf, she’d heal. No big deal. It was a shame Krista couldn’t attend though. There was a strict no humans policy even if said human knew about werewolves and vampires. Still a no no. It was a super cool event though, like she felt part of some kind of secret community. She was a little taken back by the amount of people who were there. Has there always been that many supernaturals in Mystic Falls? They outnumbered the humans. So it was just her and Phoebe for now, sipping weak beer and waiting for their names to be called out. As they spoke she kept an eye out for Mal to see if she spotted him snaking through the crowd like the viper he was, but nothing. Mal was pretty much a taboo subject between her and Krista now. Even though Kitty was adamant she’d done nothing wrong at the start she’d since had a hot minute to think about what happened. She should have told Krista about Mal, but maybe worded in a way where she made it clear he wasn’t a good person. The few fights went by seamlessly. There were super strong people being sent into the cage. In fact Kitty didn’t know vampires could even move that fast. She knew they were fast but some of these people were moving in a blink. No werewolves had been called up yet though. It was very vampire heavy so far unless they were moving through the species. V came before W so maybe they were next. Kitty headed over to the pop up bar to grab herself another beer and a few shots of vodka. She couldn’t make out whether she was feeling nervous or excited about the fight. It was all merging into one but she definitely had that sickly feeling in her stomach. Vodka wasn’t going to help, but whatever. As she was standing at the bar someone grabbed her by the shoulder and yanked her to one side. “Dude. You nearly took my arm out of its socket.” She shrugged Kit off, “Sup?” He had that whole pissed looked going on. KIT CLARKE

━ nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky ━ KIT DIDN’T PARTICULARLY ENJOY WALKING around the club and picking up everyone else’s messes, but, after years of working here, that seemed to be his main job as the upstairs manager. Actually, he was the everywhere manager, really, since Hannya claimed making schedules and hiring new employees was beneath her. Yeah, He grumbled internally, Beneath her… ‘til it’s my brother. He still had a big fuckin’ mess going on at home with Kace and Frank, but that was another problem for a different night.
Tonight’s hassle was about Halloween… and how Kitty had to be fuckin’ brainless to sign up for this thing. The first thing he did when he saw it was take her name off, and ignored Hannya’s whining about re-organization. He didn’t give a shit. Kitty was not getting herself killed on his watch. She could do that shit on her own time.
He knew she’d still show up, though, so he went to the event to make sure she was safe━even though all he’d wanted was to avoid it. But Kitty’s safety was more important than not involving himself in this bullshit.
As he got further into the warehouse, his anger grew. What the fuck was she thinking? They had a cage in the middle of this fucking place, filled every few minutes with a new pair of vampires ready to tear each other’s fucking throats out. How could she ever think this was a good idea?
Kit scanned the crowd quickly as he rushed through, seeing if he could get to the bar and use that as a vantage point. He hadn’t spotted her by the time he reached the bar, which only made his nerves (and irritation) grow. Quickly, his eyes skipped over the people waiting at the bar, and puffed out a breath when he found her.
He rushed to her side and grabbed her arm, tugging her slightly to one side, almost as if he could drag her to the exit like this. “Sup?” Kit repeated, nearly grinding his teeth together, “What’s up is you riskin’ your damn life bein’ here. Ain’t kids supposedta grow up by the time they graduate college?” Ah, but look at Kace━he was older than Kitty and still hadn’t learned how to listen to sense. “I took your name off the damn list, and I’m gettin’ you outta here. Let’s go.” He tugged again, this time taking a step back, really trying to pull her with him this time.

Just because she was a werewolf didn’t mean Kitty knew how to fight. She’d probably been in a handful of fights in her lifetime. Usually they were ones that were broken up before shit got serious. They never took it to the bitter end where one person got knocked out or surrendered. She told her sister some bullshit story that she was going to the club tonight with her friends for a few days, because there was a part of her that recognised she was being an idiot by signing up to the cage fight. Unfortunately Kitty was ignoring that part of her brain, which she did ninety percent of the time. Her life was constantly hitting full throttle. No time to slow down, no time to think. Her dad was a fighter though. Nothing professionally of course. Just beating the shit out of people on the sidewalk who looked at him funny or people owed him money. For someone who was born into a house of violence it was interesting Kitty never shied away from it. Her memories didn’t stretch that far back sometimes though. It was just patches here and there. Vague memories of her dad coming home with a broken nose or black eye, covered in blood. Occasionally her mom would have a matching black eye too. Kitty was never sure if her dad had caused it though. Damn, Kitty could drink an entire bottle of vodka and it still wouldn’t calm the nerves. It seemed like a waste spending money on alcohol that wouldn’t affect her, but nonetheless she was always at the bar. Phoebe could easily say the same. She never got to order the beer though, too busy being dragged away by Kit. “Er, I’m allowed here? I ain’t no kid either.” She was old enough to drink, therefore old enough to fight. “What?” Kitty yanked her arm back from Kit, “Why the fuck you remove my name?” Why the fuck was he getting involved in shit that didn’t concern him? She didn’t join his little werewolf pack so he could boss her around. KIT CLARKE

━ nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky ━ IRRITATION BUILD IN KIT, BUBBLING UP UNTIL it was nearly at a breaking point. He couldn’t lose his temper here, though, and especially not with Kitty. Despite his “best” efforts, she’d become his responsibility, but she wasn’t Kace━she wasn’t Kandice, either. If he lost his shit, she’d likely pull away, maybe refuse to speak to him━hopefully only for a few days.
And if he let the growl rumbling in his chest out, expelling it as a full-blown roar, he’d draw attention to himself. The plan was to get in and out as quickly as possible, without anyone seeing him. Maybe he wasn’t on parole anymore, but that didn’t mean he could do whatever he wanted. Kit had to be careful━especially since the majority of his family consisted of people who showed up around dead bodies and called him.
“Jesus,” He cursed, “Yes you fuckin’ are.” She might’ve been tossing back drinks like an old man at a bar drowning his sorrows, but she was still a kid. Even in a decade, he’d still see her that way… if he didn’t fuck this up beyond repair before then.
He let her yank her arm back once, but it wouldn’t happen again. He’d throw her over his fucking shoulder if he had to… but he really hoped he didn’t. “‘Cause I don’t care what the fuckin’ rules say, people are gonna die tonight. Hannya fucked with the list behind Hector’s back, added people who never signed up, threw off the power balances━why do ya think I ain’t workin’ or participatin’ tonight?” Other than the fact that he was never usually in the bar while crazy shit was planned. They weren’t in the club tonight, of course, but the same rules applied. He didn’t want to be anywhere near it.
“We’re goin’. I ain’t askin’, Kitty.” He held out his hand to her this time, at least giving her the illusion of choice. If she still refused, he’d carry her out. Kit tried to plead with her a little bit, his blue eyes softening along with his expression, figuring it might work a little better if he showed where this was coming from━that he cared. “C’mon, I wanna keep you safe, and you ain’t gonna be that in here. I’m not sayin’ you ain’t strong, I just dunno who you’re gonna be up against━could be anyone. Ain’t gonna let them carry ya out in a body bag.” Which could very well be the case.

Legally, she was allowed to be there. Even if she is under the age of twenty one chances are no one would stop her at the door to check her ID anywhere. There were people roaming about who looked young as hell but were over hundred years old. Naturally is irritated when Kit referred to her as a kid, like she was incapable of making her own choices and taking into consideration the consequences. Granted she probably didn’t do it as well as other people. Sometimes she’d think about the consequences, but most of the time they were after whatever action she’d decided to take. But she knew what she was getting herself into with the cage fight. Maybe. Kitty shrugged slightly at Kit’s question, but then broke into a smile, “Because you’re scared.” Her face faded to more of a serious look after, “But they wouldn’t pair me with like… a vampire.” There was a trace of doubt in her voice though. She’d stand no chance against some million year vampire. Her attention darted between Kit and the cage. The excitement of climbing into the cage had completely faded away now and she wasn’t bold enough to dig her heels in with Kit. She knew it was time to swallow her pride and accept he was right. “Fine.” She batted his hand away with a grin on her face. She glanced around the crowd quickly, trying to find Phoebe, “I’m gonna head back to the club so if you feel like a drink later hit me up.” She flashed Kit one last smile before leaving the warehouse. Soon as she stepped outside she fished her phone out of her pocket to tell Phoebe she’d meet her back at the club. KIT CLARKE - the end!
