Bad decisions make for the best memories

Finally they remembered it was Luke who was missing. As a family they spent hours not only going over spells but their family albums, trying to look for a gap. Their dad was the first to crack a part of the puzzle when he mentioned there were no set of twins present and they were crucial to the coven. Liv was feeling lost most of all, which all made sense now because they had that weird twin shit going on. Tobi got yelled at when he asked how the fuck didn’t she remember her twin was missing. People say losing a twin felt like losing a limb yet Liv was out there living her best life. As much as it pained him to say it, he agreed they needed to bring the missing Parker back. Plus the quicker he was brought back the quicker Tobi could fuck off to Europe again. The coven was one of the main reasons she was choosing to distance himself from the family. Soon as Liv and Luke hit twenty-one they’d be forced to go head to head in some bullshit merge battle. Tobi refused to be around when it happened because he was going to lose a sibling no matter what. What angered him the most was his parents, who were so desperate to bring Tobi and the others back, were willing to let it happen. Each time he brought it up his dad would shut him down telling him there was nothing to discuss. Nothing to discuss? Only the fact one of his siblings were about the fucking die because of the coven. Even though they knew Luke was gone no magical portal had opened and threw him back into reality. Their memories weren’t strong enough, someone needed to go in and fetch him. His parents had found a spell that might work but one of the children had to go in there for him. Tobi didn’t jump at the opportunity, he remained quiet in the corner. There was no fucking way he was going into some no mans lands with a spell that might work. One of the other martyrs could go. Sadly they decided it was only fair to pull straws on it. Tobi threw his on the floor when he realised he’d drawn the shortest one. Jo was the one who should have been going in since she was the oldest. Tobi threw himself down on the floor in the middle of the circle. “Wait. Before you send me to my death I’d like to say a few last words… Sam, you get my Playstation 5. Madison, you get my Marvel comics but not the ones in mint condition because I know you’ll ruin them. Erin…” Before he could carry on his dad harshly cut him off, “Enough Tobias.” The room fell silent then his dad started to chant. The next minute he was lying on the concrete floor of the train station. He quickly scurried to his feet, dusting himself off. The place was dark, cold and fucking eerie. Problem was none of them could remember what Luke looked like but apparently Tobi would remember once he saw his brother. For now he was just looking at a bunch of strangers. “Luke…” He called out in a loud whisper as he started walking slowly. “Here Lukey Lukey… here boy.” As if his brother was some kind of dog in the park who had wandered too far from its owner. He didn’t want to yell too loudly in case the Ghost Riders stormed in. He didn’t spot Luke, but he did spot Penny. All those memories with her flooded back to him as soon as he saw her face. “Penny?” He stopped directly in front of her, peering down at her. PENNY BARTLETT

━ for a dreamer, night's the only time of day ━ PENNY SAT IN AN EMPTY CHAIR, WITH A FEW of the same on either side so that nobody fucking bothered her. She was practically collapsed in her chair, her shoulders hanging forward, eyes on her shoes. She felt stupid for feeling so alone, but that didn’t make her feel any less lonely. Winter was gone, saved by that tall douche in the trench coat, and it wasn’t as if Penny talked to anyone else here. There was the dude that Winter spoke to, but Penny couldn’t… she didn’t know what the point would be… even if she wanted to talk to someone. Which she didn’t. She was content being alone here; it was like her dream come true.
If she had any hope of getting out, though, it rested on Winter finding Lawrence. She had to. Penny worked too fucking hard for her life in Mystic Falls just to lose it all now.
The horse-riding-douche-bags didn’t come again, but Penny heard feet scuffling along the floor, and someone calling a… dog? Penny tried not to concern herself with other people’s bullshit, but entertainment was hard to come by here. She’d already been debating between whether or not she should look up when he said her name, and her head snapped up to find━
“Tobi?” Her brow furrowed. Out of all the people she could’ve possibly seen here, she didn’t think the warlock she’d hooked up with in Europe would be one of them. “How did you get here?” She asked since he didn’t seem to come by the usual route. Penny looked around quickly, as if she’d find the person he was searching for━or an answer━and then met Tobi’s eye again. “Who’re you looking for? Do you know how to get out?” Her chest filled with hope again, an emotion she seldom allowed herself to feel. There was a way out of here after all.

Tobi felt so on edge being in that fucking train station. There was a sense looming over him that he didn’t belong there and he needed to leave. The spell he needed to get the hell out of there was on a piece of paper, screwed up in his right hand. Once they made it out of there alive Luke would owe Tobi a lifetime supply of Taco Bell. But beneath all the sarcastic comments he was actually terrified to be sent to the nether zone. He’d gone through the pain of dying before, he wasn’t prepared to do it a second time, at least not this soon. His dad saw the flick of fear on Tobi’s face when he pulled the short straw. He assured Tobi they weren’t sending him to die, but his dad’s words didn’t settle his fears. He didn’t even have a chance to finish his final words. It was fucking difficult looking for someone when you didn’t know what that person looked like. Tobi searched his memories hard, trying to picture Luke’s face, but each time it was just a blur. There were memories with Luke present, but Tobi couldn’t physically slot him into the memory. He even recalled the darkest evening of their lives, when four of them were murdered by Kai, but there was nothing. Those late evenings lying in an Airbnb in Europe suddenly sprung to mind when he saw Penny. There was a twitch of a smile on his face as he thought about those evenings. Her warm body pressed against his while they made the most of the king sized bed until the sun creeped through the curtains. A few hours later he’d wake up and she’d be gone. Then several weeks later he’d clock her again in a different country. His high spirits were quickly crushed when he remembered where they were. “My parents sent me here with a spell.” It crushed him even further when he realised he couldn’t save Penny. “My brother’s in here somewhere… my parents have sent me here to collect him then I’ve gotta go back.” Without Penny. “There’s another way out though. Someone has got to remember you… I can contact someone if you want? Try and get them to remember you?” However, Tobi wasn’t entirely sure he’d remember Penny once he arrived back in the real world. All memories of her could be erased, again. PENNY BARTLETT

━ for a dreamer, night's the only time of day ━ WELL, THANK GOD SHE HADN’T FUCKING STOOD up, then, huh? Tobi couldn’t do shit for her. His parents whisked him in here with magic, so he could come and go as he pleased, and Penny was still stuck here. Motherfucker.
“Oh.” She grumbled, leaning back in her seat again. Penny crossed her arms over her chest and frowned, her gaze shifting sideways, away from Tobi, like a kid who couldn’t bear to look at the thing making her upset. She knew it wasn’t really his fault, either, but she was so pissed that nobody had remembered her yet. What the fuck was taking Winter so long?
Or was it that she just didn’t matter enough to Lawrence?
“No, it’s fine.” Penny muttered. “I’ve got someone back there figuring it out for me. I’ll be fine.” She didn’t believe it even as she said it, but perhaps Penny thought sheer stubbornness would save her.
