Hannya had kicked him out of her bed. Leaving him dead on a hotel room floor only to wake up a few hours later, peeling his face from the cheap carpet. But why? He didn’t dare ask her because she’d probably snap his neck all over again, or worse rip his heart out. But time passed by and he was no closer to figuring out why she’d cut him off. The same way he and Teddy were no closer to figuring out who the child’s bedroom belonged to or why he kept gravitating towards the twenty four hour coffee shop in town. He was becoming a bit of a regular there. Ordering an americano, finding a seat then sitting there for hours, like he was waiting for someone. But no one came. A large part of his brain had been preoccupied with his mom though, unable to shake the sadness of her death. Phoebe didn’t take the news well either and there was Teddy’s offer hanging over them. They could contact her and ask her why she decided to take her own life, but it was pretty damn obvious. She’d lost both of her children in the same few months and her husband acted like it never happened. There was no room for her to grieve. He sat in his usual seat in the coffee shop, sipping on his usual order with his eyes fixed on the door. His heart skipped a beat each time the door flew open in the hopes he recognised the person walking in, but nothing. The only thing that drew his attention away from the door was the barista not looking what he was doing with the knife and sliced through his finger. Lawrence didn’t need to see the cut to know blood was seeping from it. He knocked back a large gulp of coffee in the hopes it quelled the hunger, but nothing. It was the fresh blood he struggled to control himself around and he could no longer blame Hannya for that. It had been months since she ditched him, he’d had months to regain control again but failed. She was his undoing though, pushing him off course. He quickly finished off the rest of his coffee and rushed to the place before he did something bad. Instead of heading home though he made his way to the bar. It was late, but Hannya would be there. He slipped through the back door entrance, downstairs and straight to the bar. Lawrence ripped open the fridge behind the bar, reaching for one of the blood bags. As he tore it open with his teeth his eyes scanned the area for Hannya. The cold blood was barely touching the side, which was fine because he spotted Hannya entertaining a customer. Was he really going to go over to her and ask her why they ended their arrangement? Was it worth it? Fuck it, he wanted to know. He waited until she was walking away from her customer before he approached her because who knows what would have happened if he’d pulled her away. “Hannya.” He called out to her as she was making her way past the bar. “You got a minute?” He walked out from behind the bar, making his way over to her, still clunging onto his blood bag, “Our little arrangement we had going on. Why did it stop? Because I can’t remember why.” He braced himself, ready for him to yell at him and snap his neck. HANNYA

━ make you beg for it, plead for it, until you feel like you breathe for it ━ HANNYA SLIPPED THROUGH THE CLUB WITH EASE (AS SHE ALWAYS DID). This was her palace, and despite the beings she’d collected━who still wafted around, waiting to see her every now and then━it never encumbered the fact that this was her domain. They could beg for her attention and try to pull her away from what she was doing, but they’d never change her status as Queen. Hannya only played when she wanted to, and that would never change.
Tonight, she had her eyes on a newcomer. A vampire who’d only just joined this chapter of Emerald City, who’d done business all around the world but never here. Well, she had to ensure he had a good time, didn’t she? Leave a great impression… and see how strict his vows were between him and the wife he’d had for the last eight hundred years. After that long, you couldn’t be faithful all of the time, could you? If he thought so, then she was eager to see how long it’d take to break him.
He seemed happy to indulge her flirtations at first, and then, slowly, she watched his reservations set in. The furrow of his brow when she got a little too close, how he’d lose himself in what she was saying and then pull away. Hannya loved the chase, but she’d let him bleed out in the back room if he remained wishy-washy for too long.
After one particularly irritating interaction, Hannya slipped away with a smirk, then rolled her eyes as she strutted towards, not at all willing to pour his drink for him. Actually, perhaps she’d walk right on by, and disappear until he wondered where the hell she’d gone. Then he’d fucking miss her.
Hannya was about to pass when Lawrence approached her━she hadn’t even seen him standing there━and caused her to slow. Well, perhaps she could’ve walked right through him, but she wanted to see if he’d be any more entertaining than the older one. “No.” She said, “Not for you.” Though she wasn’t particularly sure why. He was, generally, just annoying.
But then he mentioned their arrangement, and, frankly, Hannya couldn’t remember why it’d ended, either. “Ya prob’ly did somethin’ annoyin’.” The edges of her lips turned up sharply, like daggers, as though this whole thing was just a joke. “Come t’think of it, though, I can’t remember, either.” Hannya leaned into him, cupping his jaw as she swiped her thumb over a spot of blood on his lip. “Why?” She asked smoothly, her voice lowering, slipping the same thumb past his lips. “You missin’ me, sugar?”

Of course there was an element of doubt in his mind before he decided to approach Hannya. The voice inside of his head telling him to stay away from her. Unfortunately for him that voice was very very quiet. Common sense rarely prevailed with Lawrence because he completely ignored the sensible option. He could tell himself it was because he’s spent too much time with Remzi, but in reality he’d been like that for the past eighty years. Nowadays Phoebe was busy holding him accountable for his lack of common sense, which is what he needed, despite his complaints. He needed someone to tell him when he was being an asshole or irresponsible. Sometimes Teddy could be too polite to say anything. However, he certainly wasn’t going to tell Phoebe about Hannya. She would crack his skull open to check there was actually a brain inside. They shared almost everything with one another, but there were still things he held back from her. He could have headed straight to her apartment after the accident in the coffee shop, but he made the idiocy decision to head to the bar because what could possibly go wrong? He fought to urge to roll his eyes so fucking hard when Hannya mentioned he probably did something to annoy her. She was right though, he knew he’d done something to annoy her, but couldn’t figure out what it was. It must have been something trivial if neither of them could remember. It was comforting to know she’d forgotten too, meaning he wasn’t the only one. He ran his tongue along his bottom lip, wiping away the blood. “Just wondering why we ended things so abruptly.” He couldn’t bring himself to say he was missing her. It wasn’t her either, it was her blood. But, she did make for great company when she felt like it. “We could pick things up again?” He slipped his tongue past his lips once again, gliding it softly over Hannya’s thumb. HANNYA

━ make you beg for it, plead for it, until you feel like you breathe for it ━ HANNYA CONSIDERED WHETHER IT WAS WORTH HER TIME TO continue things with Lawrence, however, she couldn’t see why not. She didn’t remember what he’d done to bother her, and she couldn’t see a downside to having another coworker wrapped around her finger. If he upset her again, then she’d throw him out like she did the last time.
“Hmm,” Hannya hummed softly, letting her power seep out and into him, especially as her thumb dipped past the barrier of his teeth. “We’ll say tonight’s a trial, huh? If it’s worth my time, I’ll consider returnin’ to our deal.” It was perhaps more of a mutual understanding, but Hannya knew she held the cards. Her thumb curled around his bottom teeth while the rest of her hand clasped his jaw, and she towed his mouth into hers, kissing him hard. It wasn’t a moment later that she was turning and strutting off to one of the back rooms, assuming he’d follow. She’d pass the time with this instead, which was a whole lot more fun than that other boring vampire.
